The food and service in the restaurant were very good.

Despite my personal tension, I felt very, very comfortable in this cozy and familiar hotel, not least or especially because of the super nice team around Kristin and Christine! Many guests have already experienced that Manuel and his cooking team are excellent and very varied, and I can only confirm this. Thanks also to the super attentive, always friendly and competent service team around Elias! I miss you all a little 😊

For us 3 visitors in mid-August it was one of the most interesting restaurants in the Freiburg area. Service friendly and accommodating. Food selection excellent and not run-of-the-mill. Variants with fish or game are recommended. A taste experience! The Tuesday 5 course menu is exceptional from a price/performance perspective.

Found this beautiful little hotel by chance and will definitely come back. Rarely have we experienced such a lovingly run hotel/restaurant where guests are so warmly cared for. The dinner was a dream, nothing more can be said about it. The house really deserves the Bib Goumand, here the attention to detail is taken very seriously in every respect. The hotel and the breakfast also leave nothing to be desired.

The food isn't cheap, but it's worth every euro. The dishes were excellent, both the modern menus and the Elzach classics tasted simply heavenly. A must if you want to have a really good meal in Elzach. I was particularly impressed by how friendly the staff was with the children. They really went out of their way and made sure the little ones got their food quickly (just as we asked). Room for improvement: The coffee should have come from a portafilter - you can taste the difference, that would have been the icing on the cake! I also expect all major cards to be accepted in this price range. Unfortunately, American Express is not accepted here.

The hotel with its restaurant gives you the impression of having “arrived” from the first moment, the first second. The warmth with which we were received was reflected in friendliness and genuine interest in us until the last second. No wish was left unfulfilled - all expectations were far exceeded. The cooking school - we had a course on Saturday afternoon - was taught and implemented excellently by Manuel. Quality is the top priority here - coupled with the feeling of teamwork and belonging. Manuel is a “guy” you just have to like. If you want scenery, service, attention to detail and relaxation, as well as being pampered with an exclusive menu, the “Gasthaus Rössle Elzach” is in the best and unique place. PART II; On August 3rd, 2024 we were able to experience another visit to the Rössle inn on the occasion of our wedding. The evening before we received a message asking whether we would like to sit outside or in the winter garden. Deciding on the conservatory we arrived around 7pm on Saturday to find a beautifully set table with our menu choices personalized and printed out. To the point - starting with Manuel's sourdough bread and ending with the dessert, everything was a pleasure of the highest quality - quality at the highest level. The support was professional from the first second, very attentive and always warm. Here you are human, you are welcome here, you are almost “at home” here. Thank you - we'll be back, very happy to do so again and again. ★★★★★

I primarily visited the Rössle to stay at the hotel and go hiking in the Black Forest. I booked a double room for myself and got the “Freiburg” room. In my opinion, this met all the minimum requirements to feel comfortable - specifically: harmonious ambience, very clean, comfortable mattress, not too noisy, available shelf for suitcases, cupboard including safe, pleated blinds for more privacy (glass wall bathroom). Plus there was a good one! Makeup mirror, cotton buds/pads and plenty of space in the shower. Only the summer heat built up quite a bit in the room. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning, but there was at least a fan. Price-performance was completely okay at around 200.- / 2 nights including breakfast / free parking nearby. The breakfast selection was manageable, but the important basics were covered and many things were homemade / came from the region (e.g. sourdough bread, jams). The waitress was friendly and immediately asked whether I would like a hot drink or an egg dish. Every now and then she came and asked if I was happy. On both evenings I ate at the local inn: On the first evening I treated myself to the beef fillet. I didn't take an appetizer. Beforehand I was brought some bread - crispy on the outside with a great crumb - and two different types of butter. At the beginning I was a bit irritated because I wasn't asked what cooking point I wanted the meat to be, but since it ended up being just right for me (medium), I ultimately didn't care. If you want it medium rare / well, it is better to communicate it on your own initiative. Drinks and food came early. The service asked twice in the middle if everything was okay (different people). At the end we asked again whether everything was okay and we chatted briefly about the area. Only the blonde lady with the black vest (a chef?) who served me the main course appeared to me to be very reserved, almost listless. As a predominantly herbivore, I appreciated the well-cooked vegetables (with a bite). The red wine sauce was great. All in all, the dish was very well rounded in terms of seasoning and the components chosen. I was already pretty full, but I still had to have dessert. I decided on the crème brûlée with fruit and sorbet - a fine finish, even though I felt like I was rolling back to the hotel room afterwards (it was worth it 😌). There was a good balance between sweetness and acidity. With some red wine and a large bottle of water I came to less than 70.00 - which is understandable for me considering the portion sizes / quality / regionality. The prices were criticized in individual comments. Well, the price of water could actually still be discussed (almost 7.- for 0.75l), but otherwise butter for the fish: things like keeping properly raised cattle and bourbon vanilla cost accordingly. Cheap and good don't mix that well. On the second evening I wanted to try the char. Unfortunately it was no longer available, but they quickly responded to me and offered me salmon in return 👍🏻. As a starter I had a salad whose dressing was a bit too acidic for me, but the coleslaw was great. The salmon was served with the same selection of vegetables as Beef fillet served. Since I liked the combination, I was looking forward to this repeat. The salmon was very well fried, just a little too salty if eaten plain. The potatoes had little to no salt. However, once you had a forkful of all the components, everything was consistent. I was asked again if everything was good and was given a mini muffin with the bill. Even if it wasn't quite enough for 5 stars in my opinion, 4 would do even less justice to the experience. I would like to give it a 4.5-4.75. I'll go home or drive home happy tomorrow. Thanks for that.

Had dinner there with 3 children. The roast venison is awesome! Chef very child friendly. For the little ones there was schnitzel and fries.

Great place. We were there with 9 people. Everyone was excited. Children also find something. The boss serves with you. The service staff and kitchen are very well coordinated. And the most important thing… everything tastes very good and very tasty. Love when preparing and the homemade sourdough bread to start with is excellent. We'd love to come back. :-) Keep it up!

We booked the foodie tour, what a great idea! We received a hiking backpack full of very tasty local products, received a great introduction to the process and the hiking route and went on a really nice hike and at the end we were treated to a super tasty 4-course menu by a very nice team! A nice gastronomic surprise at this Rössle restaurant located in the center of Elzach. Local and tasteful cuisine made with local, quality products, as we find more and more among our German neighbors. The service is friendly, smiling and professional. I will have to come back sometime to try the hotel which looks good too. Special mention for the homemade sourdough bread served as an accompaniment, which is generally rare.

We, my husband and I, were there on July 14th. a guest here. The welcome was very warm, the service was refreshingly friendly and without being intrusive. The food was excellent. The sauce alone... a dream. An all-round successful evening. We can highly recommend it.

We did the foodie tour, which I can 100% recommend. From the very nice welcome from Manuel and his team, to the aperitif and route description of the hike, the extensive and extremely tasty backpacks filled with local delicacies to the pub menu in the evening, everything was perfect. In short, simply a perfect conversion. Rarely have I seen such a perfect renovation. Well, I only saw the rooms before on the homepage and couldn't believe my eyes how perfect these new rooms seemed to me then in reality. I always find details where I would say this or that could be better, but no, I and all fellow travelers liked it completely. Creative but not pompous details stand out, honest materials and high-quality trousseau round off the result. It starts in the small, simple reception, follows up the stairs, into the room and finally into the breakfast room. In addition to the exceptionally light interior design, various details stand out, such as serving boards with indentations for bowls and glasses. Small furniture are placed aside twin place tables to avoid chaos on the table. Instead of the usual overloaded buffet atmosphere, there is also lightness here like in a spacious eat-in kitchen at home. And last but not least, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Thanks for pampering.

Bad reviews are completely incomprehensible to me. The house deserves at least 6 stars. I travel a lot and have probably been to 1,000 hotels and restaurants. I would never have expected such a top level in the country. Business lunches with customers, service, friendliness, premises, hotel rooms, breakfast room, selection, quality, etc. everything is simply top at prices you would dream of elsewhere. Thank you. The place is marked and hopefully there will be a reunion😊

Super elegant restaurant and top service

I can absolutely recommend this place! We had a birthday lunch there, 7 adults and 2 toddlers, and we were all extremely impressed by the food and the service. The food is definitely not cheap but worth every euro. We particularly appreciated how the kids were treated, they were extremely friendly and made sure that the kids got their food early (as we requested). Great experience!

Auch ich wollte einmal das "Rössle" kennenlernen. Die Aufmachung im Inneren war sehr beeindruckend. Bei der Dekoration konnte man sich fragen, ob man sich in einem Speiselokal oder in einem Weinverkauf befindet. Die Präsentation der Speise war zwiespältig. Zum einen der angerichtete Teller, natürlich mit Soßenspiegel, zum anderen ein Keramikbecher, in dem sich die "Wacholderrahmsoße" befand. Der Becher stand übrigens auf dem Teller. Vorweg zur Soße: ich wußte nicht was ich da geschmeckt habe - weder Wacholder noch Rahm. Ein Fertigprodukt aus der Tüte? Kommen wir zu den Preisen. Mein Zehntelliter Wein hat 4 Euro gekostet. Umgerechnet auf das übliche badische Viertel sind das 10 Euro - heftig! Dem Faß den Boden ausgeschlagen hat jedoch der Viertelliter LEITUNGSWASSER für 2,90 Euro, das sind dann 11,6 Euro/Liter LEITUNGSWASSER. Nein, kein Witz und völlig ernst gemeint. Werde ich das Rössle nochmal besuchen? Ganz sicher nicht.

We spontaneously decided to reserve a table in Elzach. We decided to let the chef surprise us. The 4-course menu was sensational. We recommend.

The food is quite okay if you like it and the menu is seasonally adjusted. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to table service. Very nice and committed, no question! However, the price is exaggerated and you notice that you would like to play in the higher-priced restaurant class. The Hugo was with orange (normally lime), no mint and completely sugary with syrup. A standard drink like this shouldn't be seriously messed up. Unfortunately, the sauce for the game was also sugary sweet and the cranberries were unnecessary. The desire for a sweet dessert has already been satisfied, so unfortunately I can't report anything about it (The recession refers to the late year, unfortunately the review was not published because it apparently violates the guidelines) If you want to pay by card here, you will also be disappointed in the hotel with DinersClub, AmEx or JCB: “The fees are too high for the boss”

We received a very warm welcome after the one-hour journey. Incredibly good and finely balanced cuisine. A special compliment and thanks to Ms. “Herrmann” who accompanied us on this wonderful evening. On the one hand the warm friendliness, on the other hand the competence in all areas, whether aperitifs, wines or digestifs - we were thrilled! Thank you for everything…. It won't be the last visit!

wir waren dienstags zum Abendessen dort, wurden nett empfangen und wir wurden auf das Angebot aufmerksam gemacht, dass dienstags das 5-Gänge zum Preis vom 3-Gänge Menü angeboten wird. Das 5 Gänge Menü war sehr lecker mit spannenden Kreationen. Kohlrabi-Carpaccio + Krabbensuppe + Dim Sum - Kugel Eis + Reh mit Kroketten + Sahne-Erdbeer Dessert dazu wurde Brot gereicht.

Fast service and sometimes a little rushed, dishes well cooked but not very creative. Good restaurant nonetheless.

Easter Sunday with you, the 1st. Eaten once. It was great and everything tasted good and the service was very nice and attentive. We would like to come again!!!! The table in the niche behind the tiled stove wasn't quite as nice, but everything else was great.

We ate here for the first time on Easter Monday, but definitely not the last time. Very cozy stylish atmosphere, pleasant, attentive and fast service. The food is delicious and expertly prepared. As always, the food was really first class. We've been guests at Rössle for so long and it always tastes great.

Overall, our visit to the restaurant for our five-person dinner was fine, we had a nice evening, but the prices were not in line with the service offered. I would like to give it a 3.5 or a close 4 star review but unfortunately that's not possible. 39 euros for a beef fillet and 37 euros for a fish variation seemed excessive. The fish variation contained largely the same fish as the fish soup before, which was disappointing. The preparation of the food left a lot to be desired - the meat was cooked for too long and therefore very dry. But the quality of the meat was consistently good. A lot of it was over-seasoned or had nothing at all. Unfortunately, the service did not meet our expectations given the prices and the ambience. The waitress didn't seem to pay attention to where she was pouring the drinks, nor did she ask if we needed anything else. The time between meals was too long; Two of us took an intermediate course but were not asked how we would like to be served, which meant we had to wait an hour for the main course. The service itself was very nice but inadequate as etiquette was consistently not adhered to. The waitress either coughed in our faces or rammed her elbow halfway into my face while putting the food on the table. It was a shame that the service was disappointing for an expensive meal that was not of the expected quality.

Mega delicious food and beautifully presented. The portions were not too small and people asked if they wanted seconds. Absolutely great, friendly, attentive service. Always with a smile on your face. Everything decorated with attention to detail... Can only be rewarded with 5 stars!!!

We went there for dinner several times and, as always, it was delicious. We had friends with us who were in the restaurant for the first time and they were also very enthusiastic about the flexibility of the service and the kitchen with regard to changing orders. The service was always there when someone smoked and was also very attentive in other ways, constantly refilling the wine. Last summer we had the Rössle catering for a birthday in the countryside with many friends. Everything was very good there too and it was a successful celebration. Everyone loved the food. We can only warmly recommend the Rössle restaurant. During the nice season you can also sit outside.

Wir waren Abendessen und es war hervorragend. Eine sehr gute Küche, man merkt es auch an der Auslastung, es war komplett ausgebucht. Für die längere Wartezeit, wurden wir mit einer zusätzlichen Flasche Rotwein besänftigt 😉

Wir hatten was zu feiern und waren zum ersten Mal im Restaurant. Es war angenehm gemütlich, sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, sehr leckeres Essen, gute Weinempfehlung. Danke. Wir können es absolut empfehlen. Es lohnt sich !
