Gasthaus Beckmann in Wallenhorst

It's a great place for kids, where they can just be kids. The playground is spacious and looks well-maintained. However, the play equipment needs to be overhauled. Some of it is quite dangerous. My child sustained an injury there that required medical attention. Unfortunately, I must also mention that the trash cans hadn't been emptied and smelled unpleasant. The chairs outside were dirty with bird droppings. We arrived just as the restaurant opened at 11:00 a.m. The restrooms hadn't been cleaned, and the trash cans were overflowing. The service was mixed; when you wanted to order something, no one came. Once you were served, someone frequently came to the table to ask if you needed anything else. The waffles were very good. Unfortunately, the vegetarian schnitzel and croquettes weren't cooked through. The fries that we ordered were only brought upon request. We weren't thanked for our tips. A nice place for kids, but unfortunately not for adults.

Good service, great atmosphere. Even after the change of management from Hannes to Markus, everything is running to our complete satisfaction; we have been very satisfied regulars for about 20 years now!

Unfortunately, only one star, and only because the lawn on the playground was freshly mowed! The playground for the kids is really big and quite okay! The playground is definitely worth a visit, but unfortunately, you don't notice it on the children's menu! No pasta dishes or fish sticks, or even anything healthy, unfortunately. Staff not particularly friendly and seemingly underwhelmed/overwhelmed, first drink after 30 minutes. Food: Metaxa schnitzel also not recommended! Barely any sauce, 5 careless croquettes on the side, and a tiny piece of watermelon for decoration, not very attractive, careless, and simply too expensive! One visit and never again, what a shame!

Hello everyone, we're giving it two stars, but only because the staff was so friendly. The food was absolutely terrible; the raw bruschetta wasn't toasted. The Metaxa sauce—a ready-made sauce—and the chicken was so firm. It had been thawed shortly before, and the combination of chicken schnitzel, cheese, and hollandaise sauce was definitely too hot. Both lunches were upsetting. The best part of the meal was the service and the asparagus soup, but it has to be fresh this month. Thank you anyway, despite everything. 🙂

We celebrated our daughter's 2nd birthday today. It's an absolute dream for children. There's a huge playground in the courtyard, which is easily visible from the terrace, and even the little ones have a separate play area. This is the 3rd time we've celebrated a birthday here, and it was once again absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend it to every family with children!

Children are welcome. You'll have to be prepared for a higher noise level. The food and service are very good.

Really good, partly traditional cuisine, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere in a spacious location. People aren't crowded together, children can play, and conversation is possible without feeling restricted.

So go there, it's worth it. They do so much for children: a large playground, a play area inside, coloring books, small games, children's meals. We really liked it and are going back there soon.

We have been going to Hannes and now Markus for many years and have never been disappointed. Our children and now grandchildren also feel very comfortable there. The food is great. Anyone who complains about this restaurant always has something to complain about. Very child-friendly and super nice staff. We love you.

Yes, great inn. It's always busy, 3 bowling alleys, nice staff. We like coming here. Food is ok too! You can also celebrate children's birthdays here. A paradise for the kids. You can really let off steam here with bowling etc.

What I didn't like was that you had to walk through the pub to get to the dining room. There was smoking in the pub. There was no direct entrance to the dining room. You had to walk through the completely smoky bar. Overall it was very crowded there. Meeting point for clubs and young people

We have eaten at Beckmann's several times and so far everything has always been very tasty. Very friendly and courteous service. We have also held several meetings here. Everything is always perfect here too. And when the weather is nice, you can enjoy the whole thing in the beer garden.

We go there often and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately this time it was so crowded that you couldn't even go to the toilet without problems. The ladies also had to somehow squeeze through with the drinks and food. Maybe once there's a certain number of guests you should just say that it's full 🤷🏻‍♀️ But the food was great as always 👍🏼

Great inn for young and old. Food is good, home-style. Delicious and easy. Child-friendly is extremely important here. A play paradise for the little ones outside and adults can relax on the terrace. Very nice place to eat and chat with the family. The restaurant has a huge playground and a children's corner in the house. The food is of the expected good quality of German cuisine, with much of the menu being prepared food. The service is a bit slow. We waited 20 minutes to be served and then waited 40 minutes for our food. This was acceptable in that the children could play outside. In principle, this is already a tolerance limit.

Food is absolute junk. I buy the ingredients at Aldi for €3. We had a bad bruschetta, the baguette was soft and the bruschetta was sprinkled with grated Gouda cheese, I've never seen anything like it. The chicken schnitzel, thin frozen goods, baked with canned peaches and pineapple and a slice of cheese, the fries so thin, the cheapest there are. The side salad and the yogurt dressing from the bottle. Then we had a gypsy schnitzel, also really thinly pressed meat, the sauce from the bottle, the croquettes were just cheap stuff. In addition, the meat was way too done. The cola was a Pepsi, which I can still live with, but not carbonated and way too warm. I can only explain the good reviews with the ambience, outside it is a play paradise for children, for a coffee and you want to keep your children busy, definitely very good, the rest and the ambience inside is absolute rubbish. I really rate a lot and very fairly, but I've never eaten anything so bad.

We have loved this beer garden and the very large playground for our 8-year-old twins for a long time, they both always want to go to Beckmann! We usually eat ice cream or a waffle there, but the other dishes were always good too. The service is always friendly and courteous and adults can sit at the table while the children play independently. Simply perfect and 100% child-friendly🤩

The beer garden is really great and more than recommended for families with children. There is lots of play equipment and a huge green area to play. The main courses were very tasty. We only expected a little more from the ice cream, but well it was a dessert. The next time we won't take. The staff is friendly and attentive. All you can say about the price-performance ratio is that it is really good. We are happy to recommend it.

We entered through the front entrance. You end up in a bar that smells of cigarettes. We were just about to leave when a nice waitress came and took us to the “restaurant”. It was more of an expensive bar with a children's playground and outdoor area. The food was good but in my opinion there were far too few fries and croquettes. If you have to save so much on the side dishes, then something is not going right

Today we went to the Gasthaus Beckmann as a family (2 adults & 2 children). It was very crowded and unfortunately our food was forgotten in the hustle and bustle, which is of course very annoying at first. However, dealing with the problem was really great, which is exactly why I gave it 5 stars. Everyone was incredibly friendly and tried hard, the children received tokens for toy cars and carousels to bridge the waiting time and in the end we all went home happy and full. We'll definitely be back because I think how we deal with mistakes says a lot more about a restaurant than when everything goes smoothly.

Great, well-kept German excursion restaurant, restaurant, bowling alley - always a destination, especially for families and larger groups - promotions,... Schni-Na-Schmitzeltag or happy hour - nice staff and also a delicious vegan schnitzel on the menu.

Always happy to be there. I especially love the schnitzel (in many variations). A restaurateur who recognizes the signs of the times and offers LIGHT beer (Bayreuther) as well as an extensive vegetarian menu. The service staff are very friendly and attentive. A main reason for many is the great play opportunities for the kids with lots of space. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Es gibt einen großzügigen und ansprechend gestalteten Außenbereich für die Gastronomie mit Vogelvoliere und angrenzend einen weitläufigen und gut ausgestatteten Spielplatzbereich. Viele Parkplätze am Haus. Metaxa-Schnitzel und Schlemmer-Toast haben uns gut geschmeckt. An einem frühen Sonntag Abend hatte man den Eindruck, dass der Bedienung der Elan ausgegangen war. Man musste sie wirklich penetrant herbeibitten.

A very original concept! A “rustic tavern” at the front and more modern rooms at the back. There are bowling alleys and a very large, beautifully designed outdoor area with a playground and a few paid play areas for the little ones! Anyone who comes here with children will definitely not have any whining! (except maybe begging for coins for the grab machine) The service is very friendly and the dishes are not exactly overly large but tasty!

The Gasthaus Beckmann is more than just a restaurant. There are 3 bowling alleys available here, a pub and of course a restaurant with a beautiful winter garden and outdoor area. Here you can have a cozy time with friends or celebrate a festive event, such as a christening or children's birthday, because there is also a large playground here. The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. Recommended for anyone who is planning a celebration or just wants to have a delicious meal

Really chic old inn. To the rear there is a great beer garden with a large play area for children in the countryside. Inside I would describe the interior as a typical German inn. So it's very own but appropriate charm. The waitress was friendly but also very direct in her approach. But that didn't bother me at all. The food was super tasty and the portions were nice and big. So value for money is definitely given. The bowling alley was also great. Overall I had a great time there and I would love to come back.

Great place but paying over 7 euros for majo fries in the outdoor restaurant is bordering on a rip-off. I must have overlooked the gold leaf.

We have known the inn for over 20 years now from our children's school days, as children are welcome there and the location offers a lot for children outside in the summer. Everything around it is just harmonious, the staff is friendly. That evening Mr. Beckmann himself sat down at the table with a coffee with an older couple and chatted a bit. The cuisine is good, home-style with a focus on Schitzel. Why only 4 stars for food?? The dish itself was delicious, but for my taste it was a bit too small. I am a good eater. The three other members of the family struggled and I actually had to eat more. I think the price for 4 people is ok these days, you just have to adapt.

Unfortunately we were unlucky that we had to wait a long time because we were forgotten. The dishes were mostly frozen. If you have small children it is great as there are many attractions in the garden

The Big Western Burger was really a disgrace. We were passing through and stopped there hoping to eat a delicious burger. Unfortunately we were disappointed - the Big Western Burger was just a piece of cheap meat warmed up in the microwave paired with cheap ingredients carelessly slapped together. We couldn't even eat even though we were still hungry.

September 2023 + child-friendly, great play area, delicious food, good parking situation is the same as the rating from 2019. = The plane was dismantled. - There is no space on the children's carousel. - The karts travel at different speeds. = 1 ride on the chain carousel (where 5 children can ride at the same time) and 1 ride on the kart costs €1. The chips must be purchased at the counter. If you pay €5 you get 6 chips. €1 pieces cannot be used as a chip. = Staff was unfortunately like 2019 (see below). At first we had a waitress who was overwhelmed to enter more than 10 orders. Other waitresses always brought something from the orders at different times. Several orders had been entered incorrectly. They were taken back and the correct order arrived. The first server didn't come back to our table. Everyone else managed to take orders well and bring the right things. When we paid, due to the incorrect entry, there were several things on the invoice that we hadn't ordered. It was corrected immediately. Summer 2019 + child-friendly (baby station with diapers, wipes, bibs,..., changing area in the women's and men's areas, toilets and sinks at child level, children up to 3 years "robber plate", etc.) + great play area (inside with a children's kitchen, playhouse, train, table football / outside with a toddler area [playhouse, slide, seesaw, baby swing,...], different heights of slides, bird's nest swing, mud area, climbing frame, ship swing,... ) - Chain carousel and karts available. Costs 50 cents per trip. (I think it would be great if every child received 2 rides - one per vehicle - as a gift) - unfortunately the plane was defective. The note that said "defective" was stuck so deep that even children discovered it too late and so the chip was gone. I think it would be good if the slot where the chip comes in was glued shut. + Chips for the paid companions can be purchased at the counter (€5 = 12 chips). Alternatively, 50ct pieces also go in. + Very tasty food (buffet recommended) - allergies are taken into account (e.g. there are gluten-free and lactose-free burgers) + good parking situation ÷ Operation is ok. It depends on who is there. For some people everything has to be pointed out (e.g. with 15 people all the glasses are empty. People don't automatically ask if they want to order something new. And even despite ordering, some things don't arrive :-(. Something falls down and is Broken. We asked for a broom. The waitress promised to come with it. An hour later, when we left, we had already picked up most of it with our hands. There are also others who see everything and bring everything. + I celebrated my birthday there. First we sat inside. Since it was so warm, we went outside, where tables were put together for us and dessert was served. ! The outdoor area was ideal for the children. TIP: Take a change of clothes and a towel with you, because the mud area is tempting and great (in 3 different heights and can therefore be used even by the little ones. There is a seating area for adults.)

4 of us arrived at 6pm. I didn't give it a point because he helped us sit at a table at a later time even though we didn't reserve in advance, and the waiters and waitresses were nice too. Other than that, it was the worst meal I've ever eaten in my life. The meat tasted like straw that had been warmed up from the freezer. I believe the oil used was of very poor quality and smelled like fish. Otherwise, the children's playground was nice for families. If I had only come for a drink I would have given it a better rating.

Im Sommer einfach herrlich draußen zu sitzen. Man sollte Kinder mögen denn dafür ist dort alles ausgelegt. Essen ist lecker und große Auswahl an Getränke gibt es auch.

Die beste Gastwirtschaft im Norddeutschen Raum. Für Familien ein wahres Eldorado mit einem riesen Spielplatz für die Kinder, tolle Speisekarte, auch für die Kleinen alles dabei. Hier fühlt man sich direkt willkommen und wie Zuhause. Zu empfehlen sind auch die Schni-Schna-Schitzeltage😋 einfach lecker und dies zu humanen Preisen. Das Allerbeste ist jedoch der Gastwirt, ein absoluter Kracher, total sympathisch und immer einen witzigen Spruch auf Lager, den musst du einfach lieben ☺️.

Hallo Gasthaus Beckmann ist immer einen Besuch wert... auch wenn manche Spielgeräte etwas in die Jahre gekommen sind, so gehört es doch alles zu dem Charme der Lokalität.. Der Aussenbereich ist toll und der Service ist schnell und gut. Der Innenbereich gefällt mir persönlich nicht so, da es eher Kantinenflair hat, aber da hatte ich auch nicht vor, zu sitzen. Für kleinere Kinder gibt es einen separaten Spirlbereich und auch einr Matschbahn die im Sommer ein absolutes Highlight ist. Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch um bei einer Eisschokolade den Alltag zu vergessen. 5*

Sehr gute Grillhütte zum reservieren vorab, komplett bestückter Kühlschrank in der Hütte und ein Gasgrill ist auch dabei. Essen muss selber mitgebracht werden. Schönes Erlebnis für ein Klassenfest oder einer Geburtstagsfeier
