Freisinger Augustiner in Freising

Another great restaurant to visit while in Freising, Germany.

Food nothing special... Neither was the furnishings... Service was friendly but you had to take care of every drink order yourself... There are better Augustiners... the one in Freising is unfortunately one of the worse ones...

Otherwise always great waitresses only today unfortunately a bit slow with 4 drinks 3 were forgotten to bring which is a shame

Easy reservation with open table. Very attentive service. Excellent beer. Food very good, but not a bargain in terms of price. I think the concept of running an Augustiner bar with significantly longer opening hours in addition to the restaurant was very successful.

Excelent experience! We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The staff was very very well spirited and accommodating. The food was also very yummy, with interesting variations of classical German dishes such as tomato Spätzle with goat cheese and pear. Recommended!

Everything was good so far, but unfortunately the spices were missing everywhere (fried potatoes, gravy, Wienerschnitzel, roast beef). We'll still come back and try it again!

Reservations are quick and easy thanks to OpenTable. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was ok but not a highlight, unfortunately it came lukewarm. The price/performance ratio doesn't quite fit. Beer is excellent. We'll be back too.

Food is outstanding, so delicious! Like before in the rural economy. My tip: cheese spaetzle and Burgundy roast. Weißbräu Huber stinks on the other hand.

After the Christmas market at the Augustiner, we recommend the dark beer from the Augustiner and the crusted roast.

Was man bei einem Schweinebraten und einem Biergulasch falsch machen kann (und das in Bayern) werde ich nie verstehen! Über die Wartezeit kann man hinwegsehen, der Ober war freundlich. Beim Schweinebraten für 14,87€, Soße schmeckte wie aus dem Päckchen und zu salzig, das Fleisch war ungenießbar. Das Biergulasch für 18,90€, das Fleisch war zäh und die Soße zu salzig. Von uns keine Empfehlung und nie wieder. Schade!

We came here after our bags into MUC got delayed by a couple hours, and we wanted to stay in the area of the airport. As a result, I didn't have my coat and it was cold and rainy outside. Our server, Stefan, and the bartender, Lucas, were both the most wonderfully hospitable people I've met in a long time. When my data didn't work to track our bags Stefan gave me his personal hotspot, and they later gave us an umbrella knowing we wouldn't be able to return it, seeing my coatless status and the rain outside. The atmosphere was hopping and lively on a Sunday afternoon, it seemed to mainly be locals, and the food was wonderful. Flavorful, well made, and interesting options. Traditional Bavarian cuisine from what I could tell, but I'm not a good source for that. Just overall a wonderful warm welcome to the country.

You have to wait over 1 hour for your food. When you ask, they just say: “Not for long.” Something like that doesn't work at all. Food ok, but not overwhelming

Ich hatte ein Rindersteak. Es war zäh und kalt. Ich kann dieses Haus nicht empfehlen. Meinen tischkollegen erging es genauso.

I was served the worst burger here by the grumpiest service ever (2 stars because the fries were ok. Despite a reservation, I was crammed together with a traditional costume club with loud music and dancing, we had to shout at each other. The location itself is nice, let's see if it's just that was a bad day then I'll correct my rating

It's great that there are still restaurants open on Mondays! Even though we had to wait a long time for our food because they only noticed after 25 minutes that the dish we had ordered was out.

I don't understand the exuberance at all. It's much more expensive than in Salzburg, so the chef should go for additional training. Salt is the favorite spice. I travel around a lot and wasn't impressed at all. Such high prices mean great quality.

Quaint restaurant in the center of Freising. Nice staff, seasonal additional menu Venison schnitzel with potato pumpkin pyree and Brussels sprouts. Parking a bit difficult. Toilet only via stairs on the 1st floor. Our family enjoyed it very much, good portions and very tasty taste. Thanks

We were there today for the first time, but certainly not the last. There were only two of us, but without a prior reservation we would have had one have to wait for a place. We really enjoyed the food and our waiter was very friendly. Apparently the students like to go here too.

Food wasn't good this time. Maultaschen were not good. No fried onions just cooked ones and way too much.

Bavarian cosiness and hospitality look different. The waiter is just a dull guy who has a fake friendliness like a tin bucket. The food was at the table 5 minutes after ordering, which speaks for the microwave. Goulash and roast pork tasted average.

At the end of September we had a colleague trip to Freising and went to dinner at the Augustiner after the tour of the Domberg. Food and service very good, highly recommended.

Der Augustiner in der Stadtmitte ist ein typisches gutes Augustinerlokal. Bei gutem Wetter sitzt man schön vor dem Lokal, innen gibt es eine Reihe rustikaler Gasträume. Das Essen ist bayrisch geprägt, es gibt aber auch moderne leichte Gerichte. Zum Trinken natürlich das gute Augustinerbier.

The food was OK. But the service is quite slow and the men's toilets don't work at all.

A waiter who deliberately looks past you even though you are 10 meters ahead of him simply belongs away. A shortage of skilled workers is not caused by his absence, it is not! His colleague answered the simple question about a free table in the next 30 minutes nicely and politely - she was great!

After being completely ignored for 20 minutes, we left again. Never again.

Once again no catering is possible, the kitchen is overwhelmed. No meals on Sunday lunch!

Today a mushy behavior compared to different guests. Mr. Wallner apparently doesn't feel like doing his job and takes his displeasure out on the guests. That doesn't work at all in the catering industry. Maybe he would be better off tearing off tickets. Impossible behavior! Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, her colleague actually didn't feel like it. I have rarely experienced such unfriendly behavior, including towards other guests, and not just when paying. They then decided not to come to your place. What would have been his problem, perhaps pointing out the interior? But no, there was only one “we’re closing soon” and that “I won’t serve you at the table”. It wasn't as ice cold as they claim. But apparently they have a lot of time to comment unnecessarily and incorrectly. So what. Restaurateurs come and go, as do their guests. If you read their other RM's negative comments, you get the feeling that they don't care about guests. Your decision, and that's exactly what reviews are for. I wish you continued success with the guests you want...... P.S. I'm not coming over to work for you either. Others also have difficult, even more important jobs.

An excellent bierhaus to visit for lunch or dinner. The place has a lot of character and the staff are very friendly with good service.

Don't let bad recessions fool you. The restaurant is definitely worth a (not just one) visit. The service was always extremely friendly, the food was great, we don't need to talk about the beer - it speaks for itself anyway. Considering the performance, the prices are really okay. For me, as a Bavarian restaurant, it's a top choice in the city. I gave the Augustiner a bad rating some time ago - but not because of the food or drink. There was a sincere apology - I think that's great too. It doesn't matter if you don't feel comfortable as a guest. I think that's how it has to be and should be said sometimes.

Nice restaurant with super nice and funny service #table water I deducted a star for the ambience because the beer garden is just in the middle of the main square and unfortunately cars still drive through... I'm still in favor of a car-free pedestrian zone, but this doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the Mayor of Freising... food was as usual very tasty - gladly again

Wir waren mit Freunden aus Kiel im Augustiner. Auch für uns war es das erste Mal. Bei schönstem Sommerwetter saßen wir in der sehr schön gestalteten Freischankfläche. Wir bestellten zweimal Schweinebraten, einmal saures Lüngerl und einmal Würstel mit Kraut. Letztere waren total ok, aber Schweinebraten und Lüngerl waren nicht in Ordnung. Die Soße am Schweinebraten, als Dunkelbiersoße angesagt, war eine geschmacklose Retortenflüssigkeit, die mit einer Schweinebratensoße überhaupt nichts zu tun hatte, echt schlimm! Und das Lüngerl (für über 16 Euro!) war das Fadeste, was ich seit langem gegessen habe. Die Bedienung war über unser Urteil sehr bestürzt und hat uns als Entschuldigung drei Kaffees und einen Schnaps spendiert. Trotzdem werden wir dort nicht mehr hingehen.

High quality delicious food in the old town. World's best fries. Friendly service. The only thing missing was the biscuit with the espresso :)

Excellent food and beer! A diverse menu - there is something for everyone and every type of hunger (small to large). Wonderful to sit on! Worth a visit! You should plan your time, because the cosiness of the guest garden invites you to linger.

The food tasted very good!!@ But waiting 1.5 hours for the food and getting greasy excuses from the boss that the kitchen was overrun because of the old town festival is not possible. Then I'm not allowed to accept so many table reservations! And we had reservations!! And then 17 meals on the bill, for 15 people... Roast pork (2 x) was out, but it was on the bill. The service itself was very friendly! Just to clarify: I have never demanded or asked for a liquor!!! And further: If I, as a restaurant operator, accept reservations, I have to be able to serve them and not add more and more tables outside just for the sake of sales..... I wouldn't have said anything if we had come spontaneously, but we had a long time reserved in advance!!!

Das Essen war okay. Ich hatte Besuch von Familie aus der Schweiz, die in München und Landshut beim Augustiner immer Schweinehaxn essen, was es in Freising nicht gab. Die Sauce vom Schweinebraten war eher geschmacklich mittelmäßig. Die Bedienung war Super auch das Personal ansich. In der Stube war es extrem laut, wir mussten uns auch bei der Unterhaltung laut machen. Der Außenbereich Ist etwas eng aber schön.

Very limited selection of vegetarian dishes. Service was friendly and okay, but could be a little more attentive. It's nice to sit in the middle of the market square, not really comfortable on the beer garden chairs with a skirt or shorts.

Our waiter was very nice and the boss also welcomed us in a friendly manner. Unfortunately, the small portion size of the chicken in the crispy coating didn't fill me up. Personally, I found the price too high for the size.

On Friday evening after the Dtld-Spain quarter-finals, fold up the chairs outside at 9.30 p.m. Beer garden still half full and a lot going on in the city. An impudence. Staff have been trying to fend off customers for half an hour!!!

Closes at 11 p.m. and the chairs are folded up in the occupied restaurant at 9:30 p.m. Warm food until 9.30 p.m., at 9.05 p.m. there is nothing left. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Es gab viele freie Tische, aber nur einer war in der Sonne. Hier waren die Stühle aber hochgeklappt. Wir fragten höflich nach, ob wir uns auf den einzigen Sonnenplatz setzen dürften. Die freundliche Bedienung lehnte das mit der Begründung ab, sie sei alleine. Ist ja verständlich, aber sie hätte einfach nur 1 anderen Tisch blockieren müssen, das wäre so einfach gewesen. Wir sind natürlich nicht geblieben, sondern haben uns ein anderes Lokal in der Sonne gesucht. Schade, so bindet man keine Kunden

Drinks at a pleasant temperature. Goulash (beef) encourages you to drink even more. And according to my wife, I season and salt heavily. Drinks have to be brought to the first floor...that's where you finally find the toilet. A man in front of me, me and 4!! others after me were too stupid to turn on the tap to wash their hands. Well, it worked perfectly in the girls' toilet. After well-intentioned advice, I received an explanation that everything worked 🥱 Of course, there were six stupid people at the meeting in the toilet 😂

Because I was already there in March, we made another reservation for Sunday June 9th, 2024. Yesterday the food was terrible. Plates were arranged carelessly, dishes were scarce. Instead of accessories (sauce and potatoes) I wanted salad, but was charged twice for complete dishes. Salad was a disgrace, mainly just lettuce leaves (even brown) and 13 euros for that???? Phew. The meat was totally seasoned and stringy. The schnitzels cold. Service unfriendly. Seating only on wooden benches - very uncomfortable. etc etc etc

Can't listen properly. Dishes shortage... In terms of time they said it would be another 2-3 minutes, well they had to wait forever The food wasn't that great. The seating options are extremely uncomfortable, hard wood with no seat cushions or anything similar and no backrest to lean on. I don't really recommend it, we left unhappy

Incredibly outrageous. We made a reservation for 30 people and due to a delay of between 15-20 minutes (although it was announced by phone) we were canceled when we were already in the restaurant. The food was pre-ordered, so 15 minutes really wouldn't have been a problem. Above all, let us arrive beforehand and then cancel on site. Incredible.

IMan kann sehr schön draußen sitzen in der Freisinger Altstadt. Das Essen war ebenfalls gut und der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich👍

The Freisinger Augustiner is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and the entire service team is incredibly attentive, friendly and accommodating. It's wonderful to have a restaurant where children are welcome and interact with them. Even when the Augustiner is full, you always feel well looked after. The prices are good and justified for the quality. There are always daily or weekly specials, all of which are delicious! We look forward to our next visit!
