Great restaurant, one of my absolute favorites in Bamberg and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, it's always fully booked, and without a reservation, you have no chance. Last time, we had to reserve via WhatsApp, which was a bit inconvenient since we don't have that. The food is top-notch, no matter what you order; I've never had anything bad. My expectations were usually exceeded. All in all, an absolute recommendation! ☺️

We were able to celebrate our wedding in the vaulted cellar on Saturday and it was simply unbelievable. The food was, as always, simply fantastic. The waitresses were more than attentive; they took care of even the smallest things that I would have done myself and we were able to concentrate fully on ourselves and our guests. The communication with Laura beforehand was also very warm and caring. No matter what time of day we had questions beforehand, we usually got an answer straight away and nothing was impossible. No matter whether it was a request for a candy bar or a separate games table for the children. Keep up the good work, we want to come and eat with you on many of our wedding anniversaries!!

It was truly delicious! The portions were generous and the value for money was right. Even though the place was packed, it wasn't too loud. Sure, there was a bit of a wait for the food, but considering the occupancy, it was perfectly acceptable. Reservations are highly recommended!

We've eaten at Frei`lich several times before, but this time it was okay. Food was good, but waiting almost 2 hours for the main course is questionable for me. Of course we asked, the answer was, we had a starter. There were 4 of us, one of whom had a starter, the rest had to wait. The waitress said that's the concept they have and if you want food quicker you have to come earlier (we were there at 6:30 p.m.) or eat a dessert that is already ready. It was really a shame, no apology or anything. You really think about whether it's worth it...

There were two of us on a Friday evening, with a reservation at Freilich. The 5* are definitely deserved. My husband and I agreed that we had never eaten so well. Very friendly waitress with short dark hair. The food was truly delicious. The vegetables were cooked al dente and the chicken was nice and crispy. Only the wooden bench is a bit hard for sitting for long periods of time :-)

With the intention of having a nice birthday dinner at Freilich, I reserved a table a few weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the birthday dinner turned out to be a total failure and we were seated at a side table. With a lead time of several weeks, I have no understanding of something like that. Furthermore, the service, the food itself and the prices were very unsatisfactory for me. In the homemade iced tea for 6.50 I could only taste a tea broth with sugar/sweeteners. We had to wait almost an hour for the food itself and were then very disappointed with the food and the quality. The service repeatedly asks whether everything is correct, but then cannot adequately deal with criticism expressed when asked. In short: once and never again!

Mega! Everything fine! Ambience, food (taste, appearance, cooking point, temperature) and service (Saskia keep your friendliness, you are a very nice and attentive waiter 😉) We'd love to come back...😁

Nice ambience (modern combined with rustic), delicious food, which came very quickly, and the price was completely right. The only criticism - I think the chef is in love. I love food that is well seasoned and salty, but even for my standards the fries were over seasoned.

It's a really nice restaurant with outstanding food... everything we ate was very tasty... decoratively presented and of very good quality. A big compliment to the kitchen 👍😊. The service was very nice, friendly and accommodating. We didn't miss anything. We (6 people) were all very satisfied and will definitely recommend the restaurant to others.

Of course Bamberg - super tasty/fresh food - Staff always friendly - best selection of desserts - Ambience very chic/very nicely remodeled - The price is of course a little higher, but given the rising prices for food, staff, electricity, insurance, etc., the prices are calculated correctly 1 star deduction due to the no show fee (e.g. if you reserve for 10 people and two people don't come due to illness etc., then a fee of €25 per person is due)

I can recommend delicious burgers affordable dishes!

We went to dinner with a lot of anticipation. As soon as we sat at the table, someone came with the menu cards and took our drinks. So far it's great. 👍 Afterwards, and that took some time, our food order was taken. After a wait of about an hour, we were already shifting impatiently on our chairs and kept looking at the kitchen, our starter arrived. After that it was time to wait again. After another hour (to be honest, I have to give an estimated time here) we cautiously asked for our main course. The waitress's comment wasn't very helpful. We already know from our own experience that the main course always comes after the starter, but thank you. Unfortunately our food wasn't noticeably seasoned. With dull faces and not wanting to taste the food, we skipped our dessert. All in all, we suspected that we had been forgotten, which is why our dishes ended up being very bland. I think that there was simply something wrong with it that evening, so we could also observe dissatisfaction at the neighboring table, who, having accepted their food without an alternative, gave it back. This leads me to the decision not to turn my back on Frei'lich completely. I would be happy to come back to be convinced otherwise, because the ambience, the menu and homemade menu components were very appealing.

Everything was great, we got a nice table in the vaulted cellar, the atmosphere was really wonderful, nice and warm. The service was great, regularly asked if everything was ok and delivered more drinks :) The food tasted great and arrived in a very timely manner. Portions absolutely fair for the price. We will definitely come more often!

My husband and I are today, Tuesday evening, We spontaneously went to dinner at “Freilich” in Hallstadt. We didn't have a reservation. We were greeted very friendly and there was a nice place for both of us at a table for two. We ordered two vegetarian pasta dishes and enjoyed them with a large salad. The food was without exception excellent, the service was top notch and the price/performance ratio was totally fine. For 1 gr. beer and 1 gr. grape spritzer we paid a total of €46.20. I would also like to mention that the portions are very large. We were more than just full. We can and will recommend the “Freilich” and we will add it to our list of favorite restaurants in the future. We didn't take any pictures. Just let yourself be surprised. You definitely won't be disappointed. Recommendation: Reservations, as the restaurant is busy even on weekdays - which shouldn't be surprising.

Good food, high prices and long waiting times The food was basically very tasty. The only point of criticism: the fries were extremely over-seasoned. Less would have been more. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the food didn't come until about an hour after we ordered or almost 1 1/2 hours after we arrived. In addition, our food arrived about 5 minutes later, which shouldn't be the case given the quality of the restaurant and the high prices for food and drinks. I also find the high surcharges for order changes a bit questionable. Changing from cole slaw to green salad as a burger side costs 4 (!) EURO. Until now, I didn't know that green salad had become so expensive.

If you could give 6 stars, I would give 6 stars: outstandingly good food!

Went there for the first time last week and absolutely loved it! Super nice and attentive service and the burger was really the best I've eaten in a long time! Great value for money. Portions are almost too big, at least for my wife ;-) I'll be happy to come back

One of my favorite restaurants in the Bamberg region. Everything about the card has convinced me so far, it also varies from time to time. The ambience and staff are also great. If someone asks if I want to go in again, I'll just say Freilich.

After it didn't work for a long time, I was finally able to convince myself of the outstanding quality of the freilich burgers...that and the very nice service staff make eating there an experience. Thanks. Update: been there recently. Steak was cold and not dry aged like on the menu. The other food was okay - and for the prices the quality was poor... that's why a point was deducted... I hope you improve it again

Interesting menu selection, also exclusively for vegetarians. Vegetarian or vegan dishes are marked with green icons, but there should be a little more. Upscale price range. Comfortable to sit in both summer and winter. Super nice service.

Freilich is our favorite restaurant in the Bamberg area. We've been here a few times and have never been disappointed! Sooooo much of it is homemade and it all tastes incredibly delicious! We've felt each other through the whole thing Tried the menu and no matter whether it's pasta, fish, meat or the Thai dishes, it's a taste explosion every time. It was precisely for these reasons that it was immediately clear to us that this team HAD to do our catering at the wedding! The meeting was very relaxed and cordial and afterwards you could always contact Laura with your concerns. Everything went really smoothly and perfectly. The guys were very friendly and professional and of course the food was 100/100. Our guests were ALL thrilled and ate a lot despite the heat because it simply tasted great. Thank you dear Freilich team and thank you also Laura for contributing to our perfect day! See you soon 😉

Wir waren zu einem Kurzurlaub in Hallstadt. Abends wollten wir gerne im Frei‘lich essen. Das Restaurant öffnet 17 Uhr. Zwischen17 und 17.45 Uhr haben wir 4 mal versucht anzurufen, um zu reservieren. Es ging trotz langem klingeln niemand dran. Wir sind dann auf gut Glück ins Restaurant gelaufen. Es war gut besucht. Auf unsere Frage nach 2 Plätzen wurde uns gesagt, wir hätten reservieren sollen. Wir haben der Mitarbeiterin erklärt, dass wir das gerne getan hätten, wenn jemand ansTelefon gegangen wäre. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass nicht versucht wurde, eine kundenfreundliche Lösung zu finden. So verprellt man Kundschaft. Schade.

Four of us ate there. The service was friendly! The food came quickly. The steaks were ok. Over €30 but definitely not worth it! The fries with parmesan and truffle sauce were terrible. They were completely over salted! The noodles were still completely hard. Somehow everything just tasted like salt. Heartburn was included for free. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she just took the food away without a word and never came to our table again. The second waitress even took the leftovers away and didn't say anything about it either. Nice shop with a tempting menu but definitely not worth a visit!

The ambience is very nice. Modern inn with very friendly service. However, it was very cold at our table due to the ventilation system - which could not be changed due to the boss being absent that evening. Unfortunately we had to wait over two hours for our food. Then another meal came to our table, which was accidentally paid for but not ordered. The food was excellent, both in terms of taste and presentation. When I looked at the bill, I was still wondering why it was higher than I had previously roughly expected. When I asked, the bill was explained to me and I was initially satisfied. Afterwards I realized that I had ordered “Spaghetti Surf and Turf”, but what was booked was “Asian Surf and Turf”, which costs 15 euros more. It was super tasty, but just a mix-up. All in all, a very nice evening with a minor flaw. But we will definitely come back :)

This was our second time at Freilich. The restaurant stands out from others with its attentive, friendly service and varied, delicious food. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality of the food and the quantity. The portions are actually too big. A starter + main course is almost impossible. We'll be back, the table is already reserved. Edit: This time was the first time we were in the restaurant instead of outside. Is also recommended. What stands out is the pleasant room acoustics, despite full tables.

I've tried to reserve a table several times on different days. Unfortunately no response via phone or WhatsApp. If I'm lucky, I don't want to drive 45 minutes. It's a shame, but other chefs also have good food. (And service)

Nice ambience, unfortunately not comparable with the best restaurant at the time, DJK Hüttla. You need a translator for the menu, besides jiggle biggle diggle and jam jum chipotele you really don't understand what it's supposed to be. It's a shame that the really great "standard" food has fallen by the wayside. We've been there several times now, but unfortunately we've never been blown away by it like we were used to at DJK Hüttla. Simply a little less chic and more back to the basics would be good for the restaurant.

I'm really disappointed, my meal was completely overloaded with sauce, the coleslaw completely swamped my burger, and just plain vinegary. When the waitress asked me if everything tasted good and I answered “not really”, she just said “ok”… wow what an answer. Please really ask what the problem is and don’t immediately ask “how do you want to pay”….. Decorations should also be changed sometimes, Christmas is long over.

Es ist sehr seltsam, wenn man schon zum dritten Mal versucht einen Platz zu bekommen für eine Person - nicht reserviert - aber einem immer gesagt wird, „wir sind voll“, obwohl noch viele Plätze frei sind und nach 2000 Uhr wohl nicht mehr der Riesen Ansturm kommt. Das ist einfach katastrophal vom Service und völlig lustlos. Da nützt auch das schöne Ambiente und erfahrungsgemäß, das gute Essen nicht.

Ein schickes Restaurant mit super leckerem Essen und sehr freundlichem Personal! Sehr zu empfehlen! Aber bitte Reservieren ist gut besucht.

Einfach nur WOW!!! Wir hatten das Munchie Board für zwei Personen und extra Grillgemüse. Der Cheeseburger war perfekt medium gegrillt. Der Uncle Sam Burger mit Hähnchenbrust nicht weniger top. Die Fritten waren außen super rösch und innen kartoffelig weich. Die Dips waren sehr lecker. Vor allem das hausgemachte Ketchup ist der Hammer. Die Pulled Pork Kroketten waren wahnsinnig lecker. Knusprig, rauchig, lecker. Ebenso die Mac'n'Cheese Fritter. Preislich absolut in Ordnung. Das Personal war durchweg überaus freundlich, höflich und zuvorkommend. Definitiv absolut 100%ig lecker und zu empfehlen!! Heute (16.08.) wieder da gewesen - diesmal im Garten. Der ist herrlich angelegt. War ein super toller lauer Sommerabend. Das Essen, heute Special Burger und Spare Ribs, war wie beim letzten mal hervorragend! Super Service. Alles ging wunderbar schnell (und das mit fantastischem Slowfood😉)
