Unfortunately, the food is not recommended. It's convenience food, meaning it's not handmade, but industrially pre-cooked and only needs to be reheated. This saves on qualified kitchen staff. Both the fried potatoes and the red cabbage were very bland. The roast was tough and had few onions. All of this, however, came at a rather high price. We were there for lunch as part of a company outing. However, they didn't offer the usual menu at that time; instead, we were limited to a pre-selected card game. However, this was at the prices of the regular card game. The ambiance was rustic and had a distinct Bavarian flair. The staff was attentive and friendly. Drink prices were reasonable.

We came to eat based on the good reviews for the food. It did not disappoint us, we ordered a large mixed plate for two people, which included baked knee, roast meat, shikan, sausages, cabbage dumplings and we ordered fries with sauce. The food was delicious, but it was a lot for us, so of course we had it wrapped, since the price of the meal was 70 euros. After asking, we immediately asked for the bill, we did not pay 10% service, because we were really satisfied with the food. When paying, I wanted to make sure again if the waitress had wrapped our food and she said yes, of course. We waited about 20 minutes and still nothing, so we asked the server to check. She came and said that she had not wrapped the food, that she had not understood (there was really a lot, otherwise we would not have cared). So of course we said that we want our food as we paid for it (she didn't even offer any compensation). After about another 15 minutes she brought us one sad meatball with dumplings and we angrily left. It's absolutely unprofessional and we would never go back!

Beautiful restaurant and very friendly staff! Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the food. The veal schnitzel was small and thick. It wasn't crispy and was very greasy. What a shame! The fried potatoes that came with it were only lightly fried, and the portion was also very small. The drinks and the ambiance deserve positive mention.

Disappointing experience – unfortunately, not a recommendation Visited on June 13, 2025 I was looking forward to a pleasant evening at this restaurant, but was disappointed in many ways. The food was mediocre at best – to be honest, almost bad. The dishes seemed carelessly prepared, and the taste was almost uneven. For the prices charged, I expected much more. What was particularly irritating was the value for money: the portions were small, the quality was poor, and the price simply wasn't justified. Anyone who eats here is definitely paying more for the name and location than for good food. Sitting outside was also not a pleasure. The chairs were so uncomfortable that you could hardly stand them any longer than necessary – a real shame, because on a warm evening, you would have actually enjoyed being there. Overall, unfortunately, not a good experience. For this price, I expect much more – both in terms of cuisine and comfort. I will definitely not be coming back.

Delicious food and friendly service. Unfortunately, the portions are relatively small, even for the kids' meals. For the first time, I've seen my 8-year-old, Sonn, finish his portion (fries and fish sticks) and still be hungry. No wonder, since he literally had 15 fries on his plate.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Franziskaner Oberhausen was a disgrace. The heat in the hut was like a sauna – stuffy, with no ventilation and no airflow. Enjoyment was out of the question under these conditions. We might have appreciated the food more if the atmosphere hadn't been so unbearable. Even more disappointing, however, was the service: unfriendly, disinterested, and slow. We felt like we were more of a nuisance than welcome. Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant with this name and standards. Conclusion: A place we will definitely not visit again.

The waiter was extremely courteous and friendly. The music was unfortunately a bit too loud and inappropriate; it was a very hectic mix of charts and lounge music. As for the food, unfortunately, the pepper cream sauce was a ready-made sauce that was simply over-peppered. Charging €4.50 for it is, in my opinion, a disgrace. The schnitzels were delicious, and so were the side dishes! I wouldn't visit the restaurant again.

Very tasty and perfectly located on the mile in CentrO. It was a bit hectic during our visit, as there was a major event taking place at the nearby Weber Arena. But everything was handled very well.

That evening, we decided to treat ourselves to the luxury of a restaurant instead of just having a quick bite to eat at the Cola Oase, which unfortunately turned out to be a mistake in terms of value for money. The food wasn't really any better, but it was significantly more expensive. The only good thing here was the atmosphere. The staff were completely rushed and apparently understaffed, with only three people on the evening before a holiday.

The food was good. What was really unacceptable: the floor was completely dirty (food scraps, napkins), the cushions were covered in crumbs (I hope), and the table wasn't that great either. That's really unacceptable, no matter how crowded it was. And it wasn't crowded, but the waitresses probably didn't feel responsible...

The Franziskaner is always worth a visit. I've always been satisfied with everything at every brunch. The staff was always cheerful and friendly. You can simply unwind and enjoy your time there in a very pleasant atmosphere.

Great location right on the CentrO promenade. Delicious food at reasonable prices, a cozy atmosphere, and very friendly and fast service. I can recommend the Alpine burger and the fried Maultaschen. We're looking forward to next time, when we'll try something different from the menu! 🙂

We were there last night with eight people on a recommendation; I'm still a little lost for words. A table was booked, and it went well. We were a little early and were able to sit outside and have a drink, then moved inside. A truly cozy and typical atmosphere; you feel at home. The restrooms, however, were a disaster, regardless of their cleanliness or functionality. Ordering food was difficult, as a change in menu couldn't be accommodated, apparently because they were too full. The second floor was completely closed... There were still seats available downstairs and outside. The price-performance ratio is outrageous! Significantly too little, and when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and mostly overcooked/reheated repeatedly—at least that's how it tasted and sometimes looked. The original Wiener Schnitzel is highly recommended. The waiter made an effort, but drinks were also difficult. We didn't even get the appetizer... It was difficult to ask questions, no matter what. The final price almost overwhelmed us for the quality/value. I'll spare you the answer to the question of whether everything was okay, even though we explained that it wasn't. The question was probably just asked out of politeness... Afterwards, we went to the ice cream parlor, and that was at least a wonderful ending. A real shame and annoying...

Two of us were there after an event. Regarding the service: everything takes a very long time, and the cranberries didn't arrive until the schnitzel was almost finished. The espresso also took 15 minutes from ordering to serving, with the comment, "Sorry, but don't worry, it's fresh. Food service took priority." And it wasn't fresh; I could have gulped it down straight away. Regarding the food: really delicious and arrived very quickly. However, both plates were very poorly presented, with no decorations whatsoever. There wasn't even enough for a lemon, and that's just part of the schnitzel. Result: There are other locations to the left and right; I wouldn't choose that place again.

My wife and I have been there twice for breakfast and were generally satisfied. Today we took our 10-year-old daughter with us, who had to pay adult price because she's tall for a 10-year-old. I find this pricing policy odd.

Nice restaurant on the promenade. The inside is like being in a church, very atmospheric and friendly service. Menu is extensive, we ordered from the lunch menu, so the dishes are a bit smaller, but still too much for me. They are not stingy with meat, definitely recommended for a bite to eat if you go to Oberhausen.

We tried to order something but were ignored several times, even though it wasn't full. When the waitress looked in our direction after 15 minutes and I signaled to her that we would like to order something, she said she had to charge the device first. She disappeared and we didn't see her again... we left after a while.

Very cozy location. The waitress was on her toes. Spontaneous relocation outside was made possible at short notice. Breakfast buffet was great. It was replenished promptly. The air in the interior became warm and stale as the number of guests increased. Ventilation would be a great addition.

The breakfast is really great👍 A lot of effort is put into it. Very clean and a great atmosphere. We'll be back.

The service was okay. The food was simply a disgrace. Nobody was interested in the complaint (I let the dry meat go back). There was no apology or discount or anything like that. My recommendation is to avoid this store.

Five of us spontaneously showed up for breakfast and were very kindly asked to sit at a table by the service; The brunch was kindly extended due to our slightly late arrival. The service was excellent and the breakfast was outstanding. Many thanks to the entire team.

Cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Prices are fair and the service, unlike what we unfortunately often experience in the CentrO, was very good. The menu offers hearty, typical German cuisine, but also international dishes. I can also recommend the desserts.

Gladly again and again. All drinks are free at the buffet. Even champagne on Sunday.

The Leberkas was awesome and it goes without saying that a “Franziskaner” knows something about wheat beer.

This store is a real disgrace. We waited at least half an hour for a waiter to come. Guests who arrived after us were served first. But it shouldn't stay that way. We ordered the original Wiener Schnitzel with veal twice from the acne-faced waiter. We were brought two pork schnitzels, which we only noticed afterwards because the accompanying cranberry sauce was not included. Only when my friend asked a waiter did he tell us that two pork schnitzels had been delivered to us. If he hadn't told us that, I would have paid stupid money for inferior meat. I then complained to the “boss”. I didn't pay the bill. The store is a real disgrace. At least 4 waiters were unable to serve a handful of guests because only the outside area was open anyway. Never again!!!

After more than 2 years we had dinner at the Franziskaner again. Service was very good as always, food tasted great. We had the Alpine burger and the Leberkäs with fried eggs and fried potatoes. Plus a freshly tapped Löwenbräu. 100% recommendation.

Unfortunately, we were completely ignored (overlooked?) when ordering. When asked, they said, colleague is coming. Didn't come, asked again. It then took about 10 more minutes until someone came and took the order. The food came quite quickly and was also tasty. Vegetarian portions, however, are puny compared to the price. Not worth it. Friend definitely didn't get full (only had spaetzle, no meat). It's a shame, I had better memories of the Franciscan from before - the ambience is still great...

For me the most beautiful place in CentrO. We don't have to talk about the great beer, but the service is absolutely great! Always received very warm and caring service! 5*+ the ladies and gentlemen from the service!

The food wasn't anything special, roast pork, malt beer sauce, red cabbage and napkin dumplings. My girlfriend had a Franciscan pan. Her side dishes were just pork fillet with mushroom cream sauce as a side dish of meat. The meat for both of them was pretty well done and unfortunately dry. I've never had malt beer sauce so bad. Unfortunately the dumpling was also dry for both of them. The red cabbage is nothing special either. The sauce for the fillet cream without anything? At least one mushroom got lost. All in all, we borrowed both salt and pepper from the neighboring table. It was very crowded so it took 45 minutes. Waiting time understandable. There was only space outside and this was regulated at the door as follows: Reserved? No, then only outside. No sooner said than done, we looked for a place. As a starter there was bread with creams. The bread was really delicious. The creams were OK. After dinner we asked a young lady to pay. 10 minutes later we asked a gentleman to stop again because we wanted to go to a concert and the time was slowly getting tighter. Original sound Waiter: Yes, wait, everyone claimed to be in a hurry, loudly across the tables as he continued to walk. After a short moment he came back, ran past, served another table and was then gracious enough to settle the bill. No one asked if it tasted good. Well, we still tipped just under €7. But we wouldn't visit the Franziskaner in Oberhausen again. Unfortunately I can't rate the ambience, we didn't get into the restaurant. Outside it's no longer like 2 stars.

No, the worst dumplings in my life

Bottomless impudence! I have never been treated like this in a restaurant. The waiter was very unfriendly from the start. He seemed totally annoyed - even when he ordered the drink. Then we wanted to order food. Due to a serious illness and the resulting intolerance, we wanted to change the side dish for a dish. We were told in a mushy tone that this wasn't possible. He didn't even care about the reference to the illness. When we wanted to speak to the boss, he became even more unfriendly and simply said no. We paid for the drinks and left!! Never again for us!! Customer friendliness is different. Additionally high prices and long waiting times!

If you want to be called by your first name, you're in good hands there. The casserole was very grossly cut. The Zipfelklatscher (sausage salad) couldn't hold a candle to the one I know in Bavarian Swabia.

The food is quite ok; more focused on “fast food”. The service is very fast and very nice. The ambience (that's my impression) could be improved because there were little unsightly "corners" here and there.

I was a guest there last week with my son. The toilets weren't particularly inviting. But what annoyed me most was that the cocktail I ordered, for just under 10 euros, was served in an Ikea water glass. For 10 euros I can expect to get a nice cocktail glass with appropriate decorations. Instead, there was a single dried orange slice floating around inside. It looked like it was moving from cocktail to cocktail. I was really shocked. Looking back, I'm annoyed that I didn't say anything to the service team.

The Franziskaner in the Centro is a very nice pub with an appealing atmosphere. The waitress is absolutely amazing, super nice and friendly. Her colleague is also nice and friendly. We were persuaded to have a lunch menu. Liver cheese with egg and fried potatoes is fine, so it only gets four stars. Dessert Kaiserschmarrn was great, the other dishes (see photos) all looked good and tasted perfect.

We were there spontaneously on a Sunday. Food was brought to the table very quickly, to be honest, too quickly... It felt like less than 5 minutes had passed and the food arrived... Well... unfortunately that's what it tasted like... The "lukewarm potato and cucumber salad" was made from the classic ready-made potato salad pot, warmed up in the microwave and then served in a bowl with three small cucumber slices (does it taste like Aro from the metro?)... We also ordered an ONION roast with MALT BEER SAUCE. Unfortunately only one type of STEAK was served with a normal gravy... When I asked where the onions and the malt beer sauce were, a small bowl of onions was handed over... The malt beer sauce was not discussed at all... So to the conclusion... In our opinion, the restaurant only benefits from the good location and the lack of good breweries in the area. We ordered what was supposed to be an onion roast with malt beer sauce, an original veal schnitzel with lukewarm potato, cucumber salad and two 0.3l shandies each and with a two euro tip we got 70 euros!! Paid... We would also have been looking forward to a good dessert, but that wasn't to be expected here... The yeast dumplings looked more like they were served from the freezer (Roling). And for that money... NO THANK YOU!

For years when we shop in Centro we often eat at the Franziskaner. The food remains good and the atmosphere is always pleasant.

It was freezing cold in the restaurant on the first floor and it was drafting like pike soup. The women had a blanket for their legs in the (!) restaurant so that they wouldn't freeze. The food was ok, but nothing more. The quality is not sufficient for the price, hence only 3 stars. The service was great. Nice girl, made a real effort and explained the situation to some extent. We won't be coming back.

When we went shopping in the Centro, we had lunch here. We had meat loaf with fried eggs and fried potatoes from the lunch menu. We enjoyed it very much. The price is really acceptable. The service was very nice. We'll definitely come back.

The goulash soup was cold. The roasted onions in beer sauce with fried potatoes had red cabbage that was not mentioned. There was no Haxse because the oven was broken. The only thing that was good was the apple strudel. Ambience and service was good.

After having a very nice day in Centro last Saturday, we had dinner here. We were given a table upstairs, which was fortunately a lot quieter than downstairs, but it seemed as if they had forgotten us every time because it took time before we could do anything. ordering and also when it was served took a very long time. the employee who worked upstairs apparently had a bad day, that's possible, but don't direct that at your customers. we won't be coming back here again.

It's OK. You have to pay extra for everything. A small handful of salad with the Schnitzel would have made all the difference. Next time go somewhere else.

Wir nutzen dort gerne das Frühstücksbuffet. Die Auswahl ist nicht riesig, aber für uns reicht es. Der Kaffee ist im Preis enthalten, sowie Lachs, Würstchen, käse, Ei usw. Die Bedienung -Uschi- ist immer gut gelaunt und charmant. Bei unserem Besuch war die Heizung defekt. Es standen aber Heizlüfter zur Verfügung und wir wurden immer liebevoll gefragt, ob die Temperatur in Ordnung sei. Wir kommen gerne wieder 👍

We were invited there for breakfast. The table we ordered was in the middle of the room. It was very loud, the food was okay. There was something fresh and for every taste. To pay you had to find someone from the service department.

The food was very, very tasty and the ambience was also very good! Service depended on whose turn it was. Some waiters were great, others not so much. The place was packed and some waiters seemed overwhelmed. Overall, everything was great!

Rustic Bavarian restaurant on the promenade in CentrO with the typical menu. Nice and young staff. Free parking nearby. Be sure to reserve for events in the arena.

The service on site was great 👍 and the waitresses were very nice and accommodating. We were given a good seat because my wife is in a wheelchair. Regarding the food, I have to say that it was very good and also in terms of price/performance ratio. The meat was a bit too dry for my wife 😅. The homemade iced tea tasted great. We would love to come back 👍.
