We went to the restaurant; the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Great view and a nice location.

The rooms are very small, and the floorboards creak a lot. Breakfast was very tasty, and the service was okay. The restaurant is stylish and the food is good, however, for €23 I expected a schnitzel from Frankie's to be more flavorful. Unfortunately, they only have vegetarian burgers. €5.80 for a 0.5l beer is also very steep.

A beautifully decorated venue with a beautiful location on the Ruhr River, offering a cozy yet modern atmosphere. The food is truly excellent these days! Regional produce, expertly crafted, and sometimes creatively presented. A good mix of down-to-earth and slightly upscale dishes is offered. The service is okay, but when events are taking place at the same time as normal business hours, the wait times can be excessive.

Nice restaurant with unusual delicious dishes

We celebrated our wedding at Franky's Mintard last weekend and we couldn't be happier! :) From the contact with Ms. Stinshoff, who was always available to answer our questions, to the preparation and wonderful decorations at the venue, to the very good and high-quality food (expressly mentioned by our guests :)), to the excellent service, who was always accommodating and coordinated everything with us (thanks, Igor ;)) - it was a wonderful celebration for us in a stunningly beautiful setting! We would love to come back for our silver wedding anniversary :-)

We went to Franky's Wasserbahnhof with our colleagues today to finish off our company holidays. Great service and a friendly, welcoming staff. The food was served quickly, and they constantly asked if everything was okay or if we wanted to order something else. There's something for every taste. From appetizers to main courses and desserts. From meat to vegetarian to vegan. It was our first time eating here. But it won't be the last. 😊 Thank you and greetings from Kettwig. 🙋‍♀️

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at the restaurant at Franky's Wasserbahnhof Mintard. We were really looking forward to celebrating a double milestone birthday there, for which we had reserved two tables for just under twenty people. Unfortunately, the service was anything but attentive, courteous, and reliable. It started with no one welcoming us in the restaurant and showing us to our reserved tables. My husband had to go and find someone after a long wait. Our drinks order then took half an hour, and our food order wasn't available for more than an hour. No one came by to take further orders; we had to keep getting up and go find someone. The food orders for both tables were placed at the same time, but the second table's orders were served quite some time after the first. Of course, it was very busy due to the nice weather, of course, it can take longer, and of course, delays are also due to the prevailing staff shortage. But the poor, indifferent service in front of our guests was very unpleasant for us and really spoiled our mood. Only in the late afternoon, after the hustle and bustle had died down a bit and the staff had changed shifts, did the situation improve, but by then the party was essentially over. If a restaurant can't handle such a rush, it shouldn't accept reservations for such a large group.

A place that's more than just a restaurant—more like a summer outing with a sweeping view. Frankie's Wasserbahnhof is nestled in the countryside, framed by meadows, apple trees, and the gentle backdrop of the Ruhr River. When the sun breaks through the leaves, the white boat docks, and children's voices flutter across the playground somewhere, you know: This is where you can simply be. The menu? A little feast for everyone—and I mean everyone: Goat cheese meets potato pancakes, bowls meet burgers, salmon meets tuna, pasta meets pancakes. Even the four-legged friends don't miss out: There's a special dog menu—no joke—with ice cream, bones, wet food, and all the trimmings. 🐾💚 Of course, there's also a special children's menu, who can romp around in the small playground and on the large lawn. What landed on my plate: A wonderfully crispy schnitzel Frankie-style from Ruhrtal free-range pork, served with golden-brown fried potatoes, a creamy mushroom sauce, and fresh cress on top. A hint of lemon and the view of the sunlit pasture almost make the whole thing a little meditation. Charmingly rustic inside, close to nature and open outside – the place is rightly popular. If you want to play it safe, you should make a reservation inside. The garden is open to spontaneity – a lovely sign that life also has its place here. Summary: A culinary haven between Mülheim and Kettwig. Ideal for connoisseurs, walkers, families, and dog lovers. You come, stay... and gladly come back.

Simply gorgeous! 😍 From the moment you arrive from the parking lot, you immediately feel welcome and at home. Whether you're relaxing on the lawn by the water or eating in the restaurant, the atmosphere is incredibly cozy. The beer garden downstairs is fantastic: Homemade treats like sausages, potato salad (with cucumber – absolutely delicious!), and cakes, plus a huge selection of drinks, all fresh and perfect for a relaxing day. The background music completes the whole experience perfectly. Whether for a leisurely lunch, a trip with friends, or a large celebration, everything is just right here. The ambiance is beautiful, the decor and service top-notch. The inn also has a hotel, which I haven't tried yet, but is surely just as inviting.

I'm usually very skeptical about fries. But the fries in the beer garden are incredibly good.

The website strongly recommends making a reservation. I would have made that reservation using the online tool. My first impression: a packed parking lot. So we parked a bit further down the street. My second impression: a huge space inside and not a single table occupied. Since the weather was nice, all the guests sat on the terrace and in the equally large garden. There's also a "pavilion" in the garden where drinks and presumably grilled food can be purchased and eaten in the garden. So, it's a large restaurant with a large beer garden. The service in the restaurant was excellent, and the ribs I ordered were delicious.

I was at the beer garden restaurant. The service and food were excellent. Despite being very busy, everything went smoothly. The restaurant itself was very modern. The food was very tasty. I would be happy to come back. I can't comment on the hotel, as I'm not familiar with the rooms there.

Great location. Great service. Delicious food...but unfortunately, there was one downside! We booked two rooms over the phone for €90 each per night. Upon checkout, we had to pay €109 per room due to an internal misunderstanding. It's not nice that the guest has to pay for this.

We spontaneously reserved a table at Franky's Wasserbahnhof for the special occasion of our civil wedding – and from the very first contact, we were treated very professionally and warmly, despite the short notice. The table was beautifully decorated and offered a stunning view of the Ruhr River. They even provided an additional table for gifts – a thoughtful gesture we greatly appreciated. The service was excellent: The waitresses were attentive, friendly, and always present, without ever being intrusive. The food was of a high standard and tasted truly outstanding – and I say this with experience from numerous restaurant visits in different countries and cities. It was an all-around successful afternoon and evening that we will remember for a long time. The location itself is simply a highlight: After dinner, we were able to relax in the sun while our son played on the small but very nice playground and was perfectly occupied. After this wonderful experience, we can very well imagine holding our large wedding celebration here at Franky's Wasserbahnhof in the coming years. The combination of atmosphere, service, and quality simply won us over. Many thanks to the entire team – we'll definitely be back!

Nice, quiet location, good rooms

We went to Frankie's over the weekend, our first visit since going vegan. There was more choice than at other restaurants, it was super delicious, and I don't think a meat eater would have noticed the difference. It's not easy to find a restaurant that offers a variety of vegan dishes. Keep it up 🎉 The staff were very, very friendly.

We chose Franky's Wasserbahnhof as a stop on a bike tour. We received a super friendly welcome, and our bikes were easily stored. Electricity was also available. The room was great and the food excellent. We will definitely be back.

Great location with a kitchen that could be expanded. *Review does not refer to the hotel; room review = food.* Whether cozy inside, in the winter garden, on the terrace, in the beer garden with children's playground, or on the meadow by the riverbank - everyone will find a place to relax here. Extensive food and drink selection, some of which are quite reasonable in price. Seasonal and regional (meat and bread) products. Even dog food available. Service is still quite inexperienced: no one asks if everything is okay with the food, confusion over food delivery when things get a bit busier, and a lack of knowledge about the actually rather lavish wine list. The biggest flaw, however, is on the table: - Cocktail (Pornstar Martini) was unfortunately not very good and quite thin - Starters were slightly overpriced or small portions for the price - Main courses were either tough (burgers) or very dry/salty (lamb shoulder side dishes) or oversweetened (beetroot carpaccio) So, there was actually some leftover at the end without the waiter noticing. A real shame

The self-service area is top-notch. The restaurant is rather so-so. Service is mostly excellent, but the food isn't worth the money. A chili cheese burger for €20+ is absolutely subpar, unfortunately lacking in flavor and drowned in too much "sauce" (sauce usually has flavor, but this one is just fat). Neither the cheese nor the chili are noticeable. The burger was asked for doneness, but skillfully ignored; instead of medium, it was cooked well done. The rump steak at the table next to me was even worse: I ordered medium-rare and got it perfectly well done... So, have a nice drink outside or eat a currywurst: I'd be happy to. Eat inside: Not if you can avoid it.

We only ate at the restaurant, but this one was perfect. We were completely satisfied, and the price was reasonable. Alternatively, you can sit in a deckchair on the lawn with a snack from the grill or a piece of cake and enjoy the surroundings. It's also worth stopping by for a cocktail. We'd love to go back!

It's really nice there, right on the Ruhr. But it is also very loud due to its size. Another disadvantage is parking by car. Unfortunately, parking spaces are in short supply, also due to the rural location. There is food to go. There are 3 stands for this. Drinks, fries and currywurst, ice cream. Then there is the restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor area is also equipped with various seating options. There is e.g. E.g. also lounging. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Despite the size, there wasn't a long wait. I was in the restaurant. The food was good and the portions were also sufficient. The beautiful location is of course also reflected in the price. I paid around €43 for a starter, main course and 2 drinks (excluding tip paid). All in all a very nice location.

The first visit for us. We were pleasantly surprised. Bright, cozy restaurant rooms. In some places you have a direct view of the Ruhr. There is a very large lawn on which folding chairs were already positioned, inviting you to make yourself comfortable in the sun. The service was very friendly. Fast service from the kitchen too. We tried different burgers and were thrilled. The price-performance ratio was right for us.

Dear readers, We booked the location on March 21st, 2025 for our free wedding including a subsequent party and what can we say... not only did we have the best weather of the year, we also had the best team to support our planning. We were looked after by Ms. A. Stinshoff. From the first to the last second, she did EVERYTHING to fulfill our ideas and wishes. Ms. Stinshoff was there from the morning of the wedding day to implement all the details exactly as we had planned. We had our own service team for our company, which was very attentive and always ensured our satisfaction. The agreements between the team and the service providers went smoothly. We decided to cut the wedding cake after the wedding ceremony. However, when the guests saw our menu, some of them skipped the cake in order to feast their way through the buffet. All dishes were fresh and delicious. The kitchen team did a TOP job! Our conclusion: It was the perfect day for us, it couldn't be better. A truly great location, especially in the summer! The food is really good in the winter months, but drops considerably as the weather warms up, probably due to the crowds. It's always a treat for dogs, too, as they have a great dog menu!

Worst hotel experience! The room and facilities are very old and uncomfortable. The heater wasn’t working properly, there is nothing as noise blocking doors or walls, you can hear all guests walking through the hall. Never again. The only good thing was the restaurant!

The restaurant is located in the Ruhr Valley at the entrance to Mintard. You can eat very well there and the drinks are okay too. In the warmer season you can also enjoy the attractive landscape on the outdoor terrace. The service is friendly, all in all a great place for a short trip.

A fantastic location! The exceptional location on the Ruhr River with views of the countryside and the Ruhr. Child-friendly because it also has a great playground shaped like a pirate ship. Children's menus are also offered! A beautiful beer garden that also attracts day-trippers and cyclists. The pier of the White Fleet, which also invites guests to linger in the summer. The food in the restaurant is exceptional and truly delicious. There's even a menu for dogs! Highly recommended!

This great location is ideal for visiting a restaurant with its large outdoor area and great view, as well as for celebrations of all kinds. Here you can celebrate your wedding, a birthday and even company events very well and exuberantly. Especially for weddings, the outdoor area offers great opportunities to host a free wedding ceremony in the countryside and with a very beautiful view. There are sufficient free parking spaces on the hotel's own premises. The service staff and the cuisine are excellent. The operators of Franky's Wasserbahnhof in Mintard are very experienced restaurateurs, always courteous and implement any type of event perfectly. From multiple personal experiences, I can only highly recommend this location!

We visited the restaurant. Both as part of a wedding and privately in a family setting. The location and the ambience both inside and outside are really successful. The space is used ideally and the proximity to the Ruhr is beautiful. Also ideal with children. The food selection is great. Varied, local, from classic to modern (vegetarian and vegan are also offered), and high quality. The service is amazing, attentive, quick and yet discreet in the background. Overall a good price-performance ratio. We had a lovely time and I can only recommend the restaurant!

Nice evening at Franky's water station! The location by the water is fantastic and gives the restaurant and the outdoor area a special atmosphere. The food was fresh and tasty, we were particularly impressed by the fish. The drinks menu is also perfect for a relaxed evening/day. The service was friendly and attentive. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back!
