Great location with a kitchen that could be expanded. *Review does not refer to the hotel; room review = food.* Whether cozy inside, in the winter garden, on the terrace, in the beer garden with children's playground, or on the meadow by the riverbank - everyone will find a place to relax here. Extensive food and drink selection, some of which are quite reasonable in price. Seasonal and regional (meat and bread) products. Even dog food available. Service is still quite inexperienced: no one asks if everything is okay with the food, confusion over food delivery when things get a bit busier, and a lack of knowledge about the actually rather lavish wine list. The biggest flaw, however, is on the table: - Cocktail (Pornstar Martini) was unfortunately not very good and quite thin - Starters were slightly overpriced or small portions for the price - Main courses were either tough (burgers) or very dry/salty (lamb shoulder side dishes) or oversweetened (beetroot carpaccio) So, there was actually some leftover at the end without the waiter noticing. A real shame

We only ate at the restaurant, but this one was perfect. We were completely satisfied, and the price was reasonable. Alternatively, you can sit in a deckchair on the lawn with a snack from the grill or a piece of cake and enjoy the surroundings. It's also worth stopping by for a cocktail. We'd love to go back!

The self-service area is top-notch. The restaurant is rather so-so. Service is mostly excellent, but the food isn't worth the money. A chili cheese burger for €20+ is absolutely subpar, unfortunately lacking in flavor and drowned in too much "sauce" (sauce usually has flavor, but this one is just fat). Neither the cheese nor the chili are noticeable. The burger was asked for doneness, but skillfully ignored; instead of medium, it was cooked well done. The rump steak at the table next to me was even worse: I ordered medium-rare and got it perfectly well done... So, have a nice drink outside or eat a currywurst: I'd be happy to. Eat inside: Not if you can avoid it.

We visited the restaurant and were thrilled! The service was super friendly, attentive, and gave us great suggestions. The starter, main course, and dessert were all absolutely delicious. Little touches made each course special! We'll be coming back more often now to enjoy it 😀

We only used the restaurant. We didn't have a reservation and had to wait for a table in the restaurant area. Despite the busyness, the waiters and waitresses were very attentive. The food was of really good quality and incredibly delicious. We think the price is justified. The ambiance speaks for itself.

It's really nice there, right on the Ruhr. But it is also very loud due to its size. Another disadvantage is parking by car. Unfortunately, parking spaces are in short supply, also due to the rural location. There is food to go. There are 3 stands for this. Drinks, fries and currywurst, ice cream. Then there is the restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor area is also equipped with various seating options. There is e.g. E.g. also lounging. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Despite the size, there wasn't a long wait. I was in the restaurant. The food was good and the portions were also sufficient. The beautiful location is of course also reflected in the price. I paid around €43 for a starter, main course and 2 drinks (excluding tip paid). All in all a very nice location.

The location is stylish and cozy, the staff was professional, warm and always attentive. The food was of the finest quality – tasteful and visually at the highest level. The first visit for us. We were pleasantly surprised. Bright, cozy restaurant rooms. In some places you have a direct view of the Ruhr. There is a very large lawn on which folding chairs were already positioned, inviting you to make yourself comfortable in the sun. The service was very friendly. Fast service from the kitchen too. We tried different burgers and were thrilled. The price-performance ratio was right for us.

Dear readers, We booked the location on March 21st, 2025 for our free wedding including a subsequent party and what can we say... not only did we have the best weather of the year, we also had the best team to support our planning. We were looked after by Ms. A. Stinshoff. From the first to the last second, she did EVERYTHING to fulfill our ideas and wishes. Ms. Stinshoff was there from the morning of the wedding day to implement all the details exactly as we had planned. We had our own service team for our company, which was very attentive and always ensured our satisfaction. The agreements between the team and the service providers went smoothly. We decided to cut the wedding cake after the wedding ceremony. However, when the guests saw our menu, some of them skipped the cake in order to feast their way through the buffet. All dishes were fresh and delicious. The kitchen team did a TOP job! Our conclusion: It was the perfect day for us, it couldn't be better. A truly great location, especially in the summer! The food is really good in the winter months, but drops considerably as the weather warms up, probably due to the crowds. It's always a treat for dogs, too, as they have a great dog menu!

Worst hotel experience! The room and facilities are very old and uncomfortable. The heater wasn’t working properly, there is nothing as noise blocking doors or walls, you can hear all guests walking through the hall. Never again. The only good thing was the restaurant!

The restaurant is located in the Ruhr Valley at the entrance to Mintard. You can eat very well there and the drinks are okay too. In the warmer season you can also enjoy the attractive landscape on the outdoor terrace. The service is friendly, all in all a great place for a short trip.

A fantastic location! The exceptional location on the Ruhr River with views of the countryside and the Ruhr. Child-friendly because it also has a great playground shaped like a pirate ship. Children's menus are also offered! A beautiful beer garden that also attracts day-trippers and cyclists. The pier of the White Fleet, which also invites guests to linger in the summer. The food in the restaurant is exceptional and truly delicious. There's even a menu for dogs! Highly recommended!

This great location is ideal for visiting a restaurant with its large outdoor area and great view, as well as for celebrations of all kinds. Here you can celebrate your wedding, a birthday and even company events very well and exuberantly. Especially for weddings, the outdoor area offers great opportunities to host a free wedding ceremony in the countryside and with a very beautiful view. There are sufficient free parking spaces on the hotel's own premises. The service staff and the cuisine are excellent. The operators of Franky's Wasserbahnhof in Mintard are very experienced restaurateurs, always courteous and implement any type of event perfectly. From multiple personal experiences, I can only highly recommend this location!

We visited the restaurant. Both as part of a wedding and privately in a family setting. The location and the ambience both inside and outside are really successful. The space is used ideally and the proximity to the Ruhr is beautiful. Also ideal with children. The food selection is great. Varied, local, from classic to modern (vegetarian and vegan are also offered), and high quality. The service is amazing, attentive, quick and yet discreet in the background. Overall a good price-performance ratio. We had a lovely time and I can only recommend the restaurant!

Our absolute favorite restaurant! We got married here and come back regularly. Every dish tastes good here. The drink selection is mega. The service is uncomplicated and takes care of every concern. The hotel is clean and attentive. The banquet coordinator tries to make everything possible and is available at any time. We are more than satisfied. We were guests here last night and what can we say... Mega nice restaurant, stylish, modern and cozy... The pandemic requirements were implemented perfectly... the staff was super polite... especially the young lady (the who served us) very courteous, extremely charming, always a 🙂 in the eyes (easy to see despite the mask 😷) and a quick saying on his lips. Our dish, the Big Kahuna Burger 🍔, was the best burger 🏆👌 that we have eaten in Germany. Respect to the young team😉and keep it up. Even though we live over 200 km away, we will definitely come back. The icing on the cake, since we were there with the motorhome (to make an appointment today for the solar installation) we were allowed to spend the night directly in the parking lot, as this is not a given.....again a big THANK YOU...to the team. And a special thank you to WoMo B1 (Mr. S.) who recommended this location to us and clarified the overnight stay in advance by phone. From the very beginning we felt we were in good hands - a huge thank you goes especially to Ms. Schettler, our banquet coordinator. She was simply great, organized everything so smoothly and implemented our wishes perfectly. From the wedding ceremony to the celebration, everything was perfect! The food was really a highlight – our guests were just as excited as we were. Everything was perfectly prepared and incredibly tasty. The service was also great, always friendly and attentive. Franky's water station in the Mintard district, in the middle of the beautiful Ruhr Valley. The reviews only refer to the food, not the hotel operation! Finally a location where it's worth returning to. The map is laid out in a variety of ways. Whether regional dishes, spare ribs, burgers or just fries and a cold drink on the bike tour. Lots of space outside and an appealing ambience inside. You should make a reservation on the weekend. If you take a seat in the operating area, the service still has room for improvement. Still highly recommended. My tip: stop off on the bike tour or hike through the Ruhr Valley.

I went to the water station twice with my wife as part of our wedding planning. Ambiance, service and food were good. I would also like to talk about our wedding in the Knights' Hall at Broich Castle on September 13th. Frankys supported us in the area of ​​catering. Doreen and her team supported us a lot on the day, the food was delicious and they took our concept into account in terms of design. However, we found the 9-month planning to be chaotic. Points of criticism can be assigned to the areas of communication, organization and transparency. I would like to point out that I can prove all points since over 20 emails were exchanged. No matter what concern was raised, we often received an answer after about 2 weeks. The contract was only drawn up after more than half a year. It took several months to clarify which drinks could be offered. Frankys pointed out that we were contractually obliged to purchase draft beer from Broich Castle, at just over €100 per barrel. We refuted this and referred to our contract with the castle. After wine was removed from the drinks menu, we were offered various types of beer. If 1 problem was solved, 2 new problems appeared. Now beer glasses were missing. Then, after six months, it was discovered that the drinks in the premises could not be sufficiently cooled and this led to over €200 in additional costs. Our inquiry about the lock resulted in a solution that cost just over €100. The picture and dimensions of the additional cooling from the castle were passed on to Frankys and no complaints were made. When we asked, the answer was that the problem was fixed from the start. One cocktail per guest should be served as part of the event package and for the sake of simplicity, we adopted the suggestion from the in-house wedding folder. Then we are told that the material costs are too high. We were also not always able to understand individual adjustments to the draft contracts. Prices for crumb money, tea lights and tablecloths increased without notice. Was it a deliberate price increase or a mistake? During the wedding week I brought decorations and 3 cases of honey beer, which we bought at Franky's suggestion at our own expense, to the water station. The day before I spontaneously went to Broich Castle to set up. Suddenly the catering tells me that the tables for the buffet are being set up in the anteroom at the beginning and that there is no space for enough bar tables for the reception. The previously communicated 4 flower vases per table became 3. In addition, it has now been discovered that the beverage cooling is not sufficient. A solution was found, but with a degree of disability of 30% and current treatment for a torn tendon and bursitis in my shoulder, I had to carry 6 boxes one floor down by myself. One type of beer was missing on the wedding day and a different type was used without notice. This led to unnecessary discomfort on the day before and the wedding day itself. The bill of over €8,000 (excluding location) for 45 guests came a few days later. €850 was overcharged. We paid a three-digit sum per guest, 7 guests were charged too much. The special price for children is not charged. They wanted to incorrectly charge us for our own honey beer. However, when we pointed this out, this fact was corrected...

What a great location. We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary and birthday there. Top organization! Everything went perfectly, preparation, decoration, hotel and service were super professional and friendly, the food was very tasty and high quality. We celebrated until 4 a.m., the service staff was super friendly the whole time and by 9 a.m. the first people were already back at breakfast. Really great and also very good in terms of price-performance ratio. We have also received very good feedback from our guests and can recommend Franky’s at any time without hesitation!

Great location, top professional management and service team. We had booked a restaurant and hotel room for our silver wedding anniversary in Franky’s Wasserbahnhof Mintard in Mülheim an der Ruhr. All age groups from 2 to 80 were represented and the team mastered our celebration, the menu and the organization perfectly from the first conversation. The feeling of the right party at the right time. On top of that, simply friendly service staff, clean hotel rooms, a very tasty breakfast and a great garden with a playground for the little ones. Ich bin mit meiner Ehefrau im Zuge unserer Hochzeitsplanung zweimal im Wasserbahnhof gewesen. Ambiente, Service und Speisen waren gut. Ferner möchte ich auf unsere Hochzeit im Rittersaal des Schloss Broich am 13.09 eingehen. Das Frankys hat uns im Bereich Catering unterstützt. Doreen und ihr Team haben uns an dem Tag sehr unterstützt, die Speisen waren lecker und man hat sich gestalterisch unseres Konzepts angenommen. Wir empfanden die 9-monatige Planung allerdings als chaotisch. Kritikpunkte lassen sich den Bereichen Kommunikation, Organisation und Transparenz zuordnen. Anbei möchte ich herausstellen, dass ich alle Punkte belegen kann, da über 20 Mails ausgetauscht wurden. Egal welches Anliegen herangetragen wurde, oftmals erhielten wir eine Antwort nach ca. 2 Wochen. Zu einer Vertragsgestaltung kam es erst nach über einem halben Jahr. Über mehrere Monate musste geklärt werden, welche Getränke angeboten werden dürfen. Das Frankys hat darauf verwiesen, dass wir vertraglich verpflichtet seien, Fassbier über das Schloss Broich zu beziehen, je Fass knapp über 100€. Dies haben wir widerlegt und auf unseren Vertrag mit dem Schloss verwiesen. Nachdem zusätzlich Wein von der Getränkekarte gestrichen wurde, hat man uns diverse Biersorten angeboten. Wurde 1 Problem gelöst, tauchten 2 neue Probleme auf. Nun fehlten Biergläser. Dann stellte man nach einem halben Jahr fest, dass die Getränke in den Räumlichkeiten nicht ausreichend gekühlt werden können und dies zu über 200€ Mehrkosten führt. Unsere Nachfrage beim Schloss führte zu einer Lösung, die knapp über 100€ betragen hat. Bild und Abmaße der zusätzlichen Kühlung vom Schloss wurden an das Frankys weitergegeben und es wurde nichts beanstandet. Auf unsere Nachfrage wurde geantwortet, dass das Problem von vornherein feststand. Ein Cocktail je Gast sollte im Rahmen des Veranstaltungspakets serviert werden und der Einfachheit halber, haben wir den Vorschlag aus der hauseigenen Hochzeitsmappe übernommen. Dann teilt man uns mit, dass die Materialkosten zu hoch wären. Wir konnten auch nicht immer einzelne Anpassungen der Vertragsentwürfe nachvollziehen. Preise für Krümelgeld, Teelichter und Tischdecken erhöhten sich, ohne dies anzumerken. Handelte es sich um eine bewusste Preiserhöhung oder Fehler? In der Hochzeitswoche habe ich Deko und 3 Kästen Honigbier, die wir auf Vorschlag des Frankys auf eigene Kosten besorgt haben, im Wasserbahnhof vorbeigebracht. Spontan bin ich am Vortag zum Aufbau auf Schloss Broich gefahren. Plötzlich teilt mir das Catering mit, dass die Tische für das Buffet im Vorraum zu Beginn aufgestellt werden und somit kein Platz für ausreichend Stehtische zum Empfang vorhanden ist. Aus den vorher kommunizierten 4 Blumenvasen je Tisch wurden 3. Zudem hat man nun festgestellt, dass die Getränkekühlung doch nicht ausreichend ist. Es wurde eine Lösung gefunden, allerdings musste ich mit einem Grad der Behinderung von 30%, sowie aktueller Behandlung wegen eines Sehnenanrisses und Schleimbeutelentzündung in der Schulter, alleine 6 Kästen eine Etage tiefer tragen. Eine Biersorte fehlte am Hochzeitstag, ohne Ankündigung wurde eine andere Sorte verwendet. Dies führte zu unnötigem Unbehagen am Vortag und Hochzeitstag selbst. Die Rechnung von über 8.000€(exklusive Location) für 45 Gäste kam wenige Tage später. 850€ wurden zu viel berechnet. Wir haben je Gast eine dreistellige Summe bezahlt, 7 Gäste wurden zu viel angerechnet. Der Sonderpreis für die Kinder nicht berechnet. Unser eigenes Honigbier wollte man uns fälschlicherweise berechnen. Als wir hierauf hingewiesen haben, wurde dieser Umstand jedoch korrigiert...

Food and ambience top! Service staff have always been attentive and friendly, but on the last visit they were moderately attentive and moderately helpful.

Sensational location, beautiful location, a huge outdoor area, meadow on the Ruhr with plenty of space for children, lots of deck chairs and just to feel good. The beer garden is beautifully decorated, very varied and the interior, restaurant area and terrace with winter garden are really appealing. You probably don't find something like this very often in such a location on the water. Very family friendly and casual. We also stayed overnight and had a nice modern room under the attic with everything you need. Always a very friendly and dedicated staff and a great meal to celebrate. Great for parties, the DJ played everything until 3:00 a.m. and no one was bothered. We would love to come back here.

Very nice excursion spot for families and couples offers a little bit of everything and the children can let off steam when their parents can enjoy the view. Great location that is particularly suitable for families with children. There is a playground with a pirate ship, slide and swings. A huge meadow right on the Ruhr where the kids can let off steam. There is also a separate changing room and a small indoor play area. Really great. We sat down in the self-service area. The food from the stylish overseas containers is good. Neither more nor less. The drink selection is great. Unfortunately you cannot order food a la carte in the self-service area. Suggestion for improvement: Offer a la carte food at a pick & order corner.

Als Ausgangspunkt für unser alljährliches Wanderwochenende (u.a. Baldeneyseesteig) in diesem Jahr hat sich dieses Hotel und Restaurant als wirklicher Geheimtipp herausgestellt. Optisch vom Parkplatz gesehen sehr unscheinbar überzeugt das Frankys jedoch im Inneren und auch im Biergarten durch liebevolle Architektur im Stile der Industriekultur. Zudem konnte die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke voll überzeugen. Meine Wahl fiel auf „Gezupfte Lammschulter“ - perfekt! Als Weinkenner und Liebhaber kam ich auch mit der Weinkarte voll auf meine Kosten - Beispielhaft möchte ich den „Souvignier gris“ nennen, der als seltene Traube mich sehr überzeugen konnte. Trotz vieler Gäste und großer Hochzeitsfeier war der Service sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und charmant. Stellvertretend für das gesamte Team möchte ich „Janina“ für ihre herausragende Leistung loben. Danke. Kein Wunder, dass diese Location sehr beliebt ist für Feierlichkeiten, Biergartenbesucher, Radfahrer, Wanderer auch zum Übernachten. Mein Zimmer war klein, aber sehr ordentlich und modern eingerichtet, sehr sauber, gemütliches Bett und mit Nespressomaschiene auf dem Zimmer. Das Frühstück würde ich mit gut bewerten. bemerkenswert: sehr leckere Brötchen und gute Käseauswahl. Schön wäre Joghurt und Obst gewesen. Hätte ich bei der überraschend gute Küche am Abend erwartet. Alles im allen war ich begeistert und sehr positiv überrascht. Klare Empfehlung.

We celebrated our wedding reception at Franky's on August 17th, 2024. What can I say??? We couldn't have imagined it being more beautiful. It was just great. The staff, the food, the decoration, everything worked smoothly. You can just tell they know what they're doing. I would do it that way again and again. Kudos also to Ms. Stinshoff. She looked after us very well during the preparations and we were allowed to come over at any time. All in all 5 stars +

Unfriendly reception. Mineral water only medium. Food okay. The waiter at the table was friendly and quick.

Had dinner there today with 8 people. We had to wait a whole hour for the food, we're talking burgers and salad. I got a burger that I didn't order and it was still well done even though I ordered medium. After I had eaten about half of it, I noticed the mix-up. The waitress blamed it on the Indonesian service staff, although a blonde German waitress brought me the burger. Very bad service and not even a credible apology. I will no longer visit the store, let alone recommend it.

It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. All in one a beautiful location in the countryside. The food was good and the service (young man) was very friendly and attentive, even though we were a group of 11 people. Would go there again at any time.

Great burgers and very nice staff

We were there today with two families. My children are not allowed to eat everything due to illness. We have rarely experienced so much understanding and commitment in the restaurant. After we ordered our food, the boss (I assume) came to the table personally to discuss everything with us, he even had a surprise in store. Really great, my boys were really happy.

Very nice location by the water and ideal for a break on a bike or bike tour. Gastronomically it's not that great with a carelessly prepared, muddy and tasteless burger. The schnitzel was sometimes only lukewarm and the taste was also not convincing and that at a price of over 20 euros per dish. To be fair, we were not charged for a schnitzel after the complaint. In the future we will stop for a currywurst in the self-service area but no longer in the restaurant.

Very cozy, nice staff, reasonable prices and an overall great area. A gem for Mintard with a pier for the White Fleet.

I would like to thank you for the successful evening. The location was excellent and the service was very attentive. Despite the onset of rain, all guests inside were accommodated well. The food was excellent and everyone was very happy. 👍✨️✨️✨️

TOP location We spent a wonderful weekend here, great location with lawn and beer garden, right on the Ruhr Valley cycle path. Marcel at the reception as well as Merle and Yannick know what the guests want (even when it's busy), also a big compliment to the kitchen, very good food, all at a good price-performance ratio.

The price/performance ratio for the food doesn't fit. The spaghetti carbonara was completely drowned. The service was great and attentive.
