From the outside, the entrance is completely inconspicuous, and you'd have no idea what lies within. A small, fine restaurant with 12 tables and an original yet cozy interior. The staff are very friendly and attentive from the moment you arrive, taking the time to answer any questions you may have about the food. Starters and main courses are prepared with dedication and attention to detail and are also a real eye-catcher. The portions are generous and an absolute delight. And while you enjoy your meal, easy listening in the background completes the whole experience. In summary: an absolute insider tip for anyone who likes fish in a unique atmosphere. A trip to Fisch Pauli is definitely worth it.

my hotel recommended this place and I read the reviews and everything would look really good and I must say they were all right. It was really good seafood very rustic type setting no fancy thrills or trails just hard-working people that were great waiters they could speak English. they were nice. They were helpful and they were informativethe food from the bread to this two different fish items. We have were very good. It’s indoor outdoor tables fairly priced.

Great experience all around! We had the fish and chips, Fisch im Brot, and penne with salmon — all of which were delicious. The pasta sauce was just a touch on the salty side, but still very enjoyable. Portions were generous, and the service was absolutely impeccable. Would definitely come back!

We ordered one large hot Plato Pauli Mix ll for two and it was incredibly delicious! Absolutely everything! The waiters are very friendly and attentive. The place is absolutely recommended for visiting!

The service was very attentive and friendly. Restrooms were quite clean. The food was, unfortunately, truly disappointing. Profits were maximized by using the cheapest ingredients. Limited fish selection, only the "cheap" varieties. The fish wasn't well prepared (overcooked, sloppy coating, too much frying oil...). The fried potatoes weren't crispy at all, but dripping with grease. Overall, a real disappointment. If you want to compete with the cult restaurant around the corner (not mentioned here), you'll have to step it up a few notches. A shame.

It was truly delicious. And the staff was very, very friendly. They explained everything to us in detail. We left with full stomachs. Four kinds of mixed grilled fish and seafood, grilled tuna, squid rings, and French fries. Very satisfying. The sauce is also fantastic! The place fills up quickly. You better come quickly.

The four of us happened to walk past here, having originally visited the bunker. The ambiance doesn't look cozy at all from the outside, but the interior is absolutely charming. The service is excellent; there was even time for a chat. The selection is limited, but all the more delicious for it. We had a variety of dishes, but everyone was extremely satisfied. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were more than adequate. If we lived in Hamburg, we would definitely come here more often. A fantastic restaurant!

We were absolutely thrilled at Fisch Pauli! The food was extremely good – super fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. Plus, the attentive, warm service is something you rarely experience these days. Honestly, one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a long time! We were there on a Friday around 5 p.m. and had no problem getting a table – but it started to get really busy around 6 p.m. If you arrive later, you should definitely make a reservation! The many positive reviews are more than deserved. If you love fish, this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back!

The high rating is true, food was delicious. We had a seafood platter and it was quite fresh. The grilled fish was done to perfection. Service and atmosphere is acceptable. However, waiter would not provide us with tap water and said because water is not safe. It's okay not to provide tap water but don't lie. We having been drinking water in Germany our whole trip and never had an issue.

This is a Hamburg fish restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant feels like it is exclusively for locals, but if you go in without any worries, the staff will be very kind and helpful. There are plenty of vegetables, and the fish, potatoes, and sauces are well-chosen, and the beer is also delicious. The price range is good, and the staff is very kind and helpful, so I want to go back again and recommend this restaurant.

We happened upon Fisch Pauli by chance after visiting the bunker. If I were in Hamburg more often, I would definitely come back. The menu is straightforward, but that's all it takes. The fish was freshly prepared and perfectly fried. The vegetables weren't overcooked. And don't forget the bread with two dips to start with. The hosts were also very friendly. So just go there and eat delicious food.

Fisch Pauli is one of those places you visit for the food, not the ambiance. Tucked away in St. Pauli, just a short walk from the Green Bunker and the St. Pauli Stadium, the surrounding area is a lively mix of graffiti-covered walls and quirky second-hand shops. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating—11 tables inside and 5 outside. However, service outdoors is noticeably poor; customers often need to go inside just to get a menu, which is far from ideal. The interior has a beachy, mismatched vibe with sand and turquoise-colored walls, artificial greenery hanging from the ceiling, fishing nets as space dividers, and metal fish décor. The entrance features a painted skull logo, which feels a bit out of place. Velvet bucket chairs and wooden floors attempt to elevate the setting, but it all feels a little thrown together. The meal started with a complimentary salad that was just okay. The accompanying basil pesto bread and dips were decent, and the olive oil on the table stood out as good quality. Unfortunately, the wine, Weiss-burgunder trocken Erbeldingen was a disappointment—harsh notes of unripe stone fruit and sour apricot with a dry, unpleasant aftertaste. The water, as expected, was overpriced, retails as 7.40euros and sold for 22euros. The highlight of the visit was definitely the fish. Both the Kabeljau (cod) and Rotbarsch (redfish) were excellent—lightly battered, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. They were served with chips, boiled cauliflower and broccoli, and individual sauces. While the chips were crispy and satisfying, the vegetables were limp and overcooked. The sauces tasted like they came from a bottle and didn’t add much to the dish. Overall, Fisch Pauli delivers on its promise of good fish, but everything else—from the wine to the service to the decor—falls short. Go for the fish, and manage your expectations for the rest.

It was truly fantastic without exception... We really enjoyed the food, the service, and the restaurant itself. There were five of us and we didn't have a reservation on a Saturday around 6 p.m.... No problem... The friendly staff member thought about it for a moment and then assigned us a great table. We had five different dishes, and all of them were delicious... What more could you want? We'll definitely be back!

I had fish and chips. I had the same dish the day before at another restaurant, so I had something to compare it to. It didn't suit my taste. The chips weren't crispy, although that's a matter of taste. The fish was juicy, but also quite greasy. Service was really fast and, above all, very friendly.

For me the best fish restaurant in Hamburg. Food always tasty and fresh. The service is really very friendly and attentive. Portion size is great and the price is very fair. Side dishes and bread/salad included in advance. Great value for money. I always like to eat the whole sea bream from the grill here, super crispy skin and delicious, juicy fish meat. The Pauli Mix or the fish fillets and the tuna steak are also great. Cozy Pauli atmosphere. Highly recommended!

It is closed today (Monday, February 17th) due to construction. I wish there was a notification online, we wouldn't have drive all the way there. I am not rating the food since we couldn't eat.

Everything really fits here! Really cool shop. The service is top and incredibly attentive. The food is perfect and exactly on point. Try the lemon garlic sauce!! We received a warm welcome and immediately felt welcome. Such nice employees. I had the best plaice I have ever eaten. And where we live on the North Sea and always thought the best fish was there. I can only recommend Fisch Pauli. If you want to eat very well and also want to sit comfortably and be looked after nicely, then you have to eat here. 10 out of 10 Oh, and there’s really good cappucino here too.
