The Finkenkrug is an absolute cult pub in Duisburg. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the prices are fair. For decades, the Finkenkrug has been a magnet for a wide variety of people.

Top beer selection! Excellent service! However, the special beers are obviously not always the cheapest!

A very nice place to go out with friends, about 100 types of beers from all over the world that can really surprise many palates, very delicious food and the full professionalism of the waiters make you not want to leave this place. I recommend this place and if I'm nearby I'll definitely come back here🔥

Been coming here since 1976. The food is very varied and excellent value for money. Several types of beer on tap, there should be something for everyone. Nice beer garden but also enough space inside.

Very nice stylish student bar, with very good cuisine! The unique selling point is the offer of hundreds of different types of beer from all over the world. In high season it is advisable to reserve a table in advance. Even the large beer garden is often full. The price-performance ratio is very good and does not correspond to the madness that other restaurateurs have fallen into in order to charge utopian high prices.

I'll start with the food, it tasted delicious, just like I wanted the hamburger and fries. 4 stars. On the other hand, I have a few concerns about the service; the waiters took a little too long for me...even though there was hardly anything to do. Nevertheless, the waitress was very loving. I liked the ambience best, it looked very clean, I really enjoyed eating and drinking comfortably. It's definitely worth repeating for me!

It was the last time we were there. The fat used for frying is the last thing. Everyone had problems after eating. The burgers are not worth the money in any way! I wonder how such a kitchen can survive!

Huge beer selection that offers something for every taste and has a lot of unusual and international beers. Here you can try things out in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. The food menu is rich, but not too overwhelming and also tastes impressive. The prices are absolutely reasonable and the service is friendly. For me it has been one of the best bars/pubs in Duisburg for years.

Finkenkrug has already made a name for himself beyond the city limits, and in my opinion he deserves this good reputation. The last time I was there was for lunch on St. Patrick's Day. My Irish beer and Irish burger both tasted great. It was very cozy, which was partly due to the comfortable seats and partly due to the friendly service. It can get very busy in the evenings and on weekends, so it is recommended to reserve in advance. The prices may be a little higher than in the surrounding bars, but they are still fair enough that there are always a lot of students there. The extensive and changing selection of beers makes the Finkenkrug an ideal place for beer connoisseurs.

We had a very nice evening for two at the Finkenkrug. There are a lot of draft beers, of which I tried three different ones. The beer was very fresh, cold and tasty. With so many draft beers, you often have to worry about whether beers that are not drunk often taste good and are tapped properly beforehand so as not to get the old and stale liquor out of the tap. Luckily that seems to be done here. The food (burgers) were excellent. Good portions for a reasonable price these days. The service was attentive despite the busy location. We'll be stopping by more often now.

Unfortunately there are always too few staff. The waiters are good, but too few. management problem. You deserve enough! Take some of the workload off of your staff ;)

You really can't recommend eating at Finkenkrug. The BBQ burger I ordered was almost inedible. The meat was of poor quality and poorly prepared. Likewise the food of my companion (salad with chicken strips). That was different. Unfortunately it was my last visit to the Finkenkrug.

I eat there irregularly and often. No matter what I order (venison goulash winter edition) or veal schnitzel with puree and salad: the food is homemade (breaded, homemade puree) and tastes really good. Portions are ok. However, sometimes a bit too small for me as a craftsman. But I'm not a benchmark either because I put in a lot of calories. The only point of criticism: Unfortunately no takeaway cutlery. Otherwise I have nothing to criticize

The Finkenkrug has not lost its student pub flair over the decades. The food and service are really good and beer drinkers will definitely get wet eyes and throats given the incredible selection. The sanitary facilities are also completely ok When the house is full, the noise level is very high, which means you have to shout at each other. Otherwise always worth a visit.

We were here for breakfast for the first time today, our son recommended the Finkenkrug to us. And I have to say, he wasn't exaggerating. The selection of breakfast offerings is not mainstream, rather a bit unusual, but very interesting. The lunch/dinner menu also impresses with its creativity and versatility. I had the Mediterranean breakfast with tortilla, chorizo, ruccola, feta, pita bread and tomato chutney. My wife had the delicious filled breakfast wrap. Everything was well made and fresh. The staff committed and attentive. The atmosphere is rustic but cozy. All around a real recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

Friendly, open atmosphere, mixed crowd, nice waiters and waitresses. We were served very promptly. I didn't eat anything, but my two friends were very happy. The best thing came at the end: the toilet. I've already forgotten that it looks like that. I think it was the last time I was there 20 years ago there

Food was the big weak point. The castles are at most average across the map. Sometimes too raw, sometimes fried to death, the topping is rather bulky... Loading very crowded and noisy. The service was good and attentive! Possibly recommended for beer connoisseurs because there is a lot to choose from, but I can't really judge it myself

The service is a complete disaster. We ordered a second round of beers (there were only two of us). A beer came and despite being alerted twice, no second one came. There was a constant variety of drinks at the neighboring table.

Finkenkrug is an institution since we went there during our school times (over 40 years ago). Love the atmosphere and nice mix of young students, middle age and people in their retirement age. Everyone’s welcome and people mingle well. It’s obviously famous for its over 300 (?) different beers, there’s one for everyone.

Cute, somewhat chaotic looking pub with a large selection of beers. They still need to work a little on the wine range. The food is excellent, especially the potato plate is amazing with the beer. Interesting facility with lots of beer advertising.

This is where the beer lover's heart beats, even if some specialties have often been sold out recently. The numerous draft beers are all recommended without exception. Effort is made with the food, but you shouldn't expect a "revelation". Still tastes good 😉. Staff is friendly and serves promptly. Update of the review in December 2024: Card payments are finally accepted and although it should actually be standard everywhere these days, that's worth one more star to me 🙂

Hidden gem in Duisburg. If you stay in Duisburg, do not miss it! Usually crowdy at ~6pm.

I used to be a really enthusiastic Finkenkrug visitor. But whatever happened, the finch hasn't changed for the better. You're used to long waiting times when it comes to food. But what happened recently to me (or rather to us) is the last straw. We were there with 5 people. The service was bottom drawer. Some of the waiters didn't even speak German? Then wrong food was delivered. Cold and just lukewarm food was delivered. This was then discussed instead of taking the food back or reheating it. My food was showered with curry and after 30 minutes I had a stomach bug of death. According to the doctor, it was a real curry overdose (turmeric). I had 5 days of sick leave! I then turned to Finke. There was an apology and an offer of a voucher as compensation. I still thought, oh, very nice. 3 weeks later? Still no voucher. Everything is just blah. So you as customers have lost something to us.

Lovely bustling pub on a Saturday evening with 300 different beers to choose from. The prices range from €3-6 a beer and there is a range from Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Belgium and more countries. The service is fast and they are very attentive.

Top Laden insbesondere wegen der Bierauswahl (ca. 200 Biere permanent auf Lager). Hin und wieder muss man damit rechnen, dass das ein oder andere Bier nicht verfügbar ist aber die Auswahl ist noch immer mehr als genug. Die Portionen sind beim Essen für die Preise nicht die größten, aber alles ist selbstgemacht und relativ frisch von daher verkraftbar, zudem gibt es für Fleischliebhaber wie auch Veganer und Vegetarier eine gute Auswahl. Vegetarische Biere werden als solche ausgewiesen und auf Wunsch kann man sich auch beraten lassen welche Speisen und Biere man als Vegetarier oder Veganer problemlos essen kann, das gleiche gilt für Gluten oder Laktose wer drunter leidet. Am Ende ist es aber kein Restaurant sondern eine Kneipe und genau davon lebt der Laden auch, es ist eine angenehme Kneipenatmosphäre und im Grunde ist dort immer was los. Alle 2 Wochen gibt es Montags ein Quiz und spezielle Events zum Tatort, ESC usw. einziges Manko Sport wird so gut wie nie übertragen. Auch wenn der Laden sehr groß ist und über 4 Räume plus Biergarten verfügt, kann es am Freitag oder Samstag mal vorkommen, das man ohne Reservierung mal keinen Platz mehr bekommt.

Old student bar that has existed since I can remember. Known for overwhelming number of beers. Unfortunately, more and more often lately, many of the beers on the menu are not available and Altbier is no longer available on tap, which I personally find very sad 😢. Times are changing.

The first and last time after 5 years! Unfortunately, the orders were lost several times or the wrong drinks were brought. Fresh draft beers, non-carbonated and slightly stale. Unfortunately the invoice was also incorrect. In summary, it's simply much worse and more expensive than before!!!

After years of not being able to make it, I was finally able to be a guest at the Finkenkrug. There are lots of beers on tap and a hearty and homely menu. I had a Belgian goulash with a matching Belgian beer, both of which tasted really excellent. The service was very friendly and so forthcoming, I would be happy to come back.

The food and beer were very good, the atmosphere is appropriate for a student bar and we really enjoyed sitting outside. Only the replenishment of beer could have worked better; When I asked to order another beer, I was greeted several times by the waiter with "I'll be right back" without him coming again. For example, a beer that was ordered wasn't brought at all and had to be ordered again after 20 minutes. Nevertheless, overall a good experience, I would happily go back and can recommend the Finkenkrug
