Finkenkrug is outstanding in every respect, from the ambiance and service/staff to the cuisine—everything is excellent. The waitstaff are always cheerful, friendly, and yes, quick, very attentive, and never bored or annoyed. The manager of the service team is a top motivator and/or a fantastic staff coach. Enough praise 😉...keep it up!

First, the negative: we ordered schnitzel yesterday, which was inedible. The meat was completely over-pounded, as thin as a slice of cooked ham, and had a consistency like dry meat. I told the chef that he commented, "You can't pound meat enough." Whether that statement is competent... I don't think so. Absolutely not recommended. Great atmosphere, friendly service. I visited Finkenkrug for the first time as part of a company outing – and it won't be my last. The drinks selection is truly remarkable, especially for beer drinkers – but also for non-alcoholic beverages :) The food was incredibly delicious. Overall, I wasn't expecting such a positive experience and was very surprised. The value for money is definitely good. I'd be happy to come back.

The shop is a Duisburg institution. Many people are definitely part of the fixtures and fittings. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, the atmosphere is pleasant. The culinary offerings aren't exactly a highlight. Professional staff are hard to find, which makes the friendly service all the more pleasing.

Nice old alternative student bar. The focus here is on beer, which is great. A rotating draft beer selection, unusual varieties. The food was also quite good. The service could be a bit more attentive; you had to be persistent in getting served at first, but as it got busier, things improved.

The beer garden is really nice, but I found it quite rude that the waitress sat on a chair and puffed on the vape while I was ordering.

For several months, the website has stated: "To keep our offerings up-to-date, we use an external database that is uploaded to this page. However, these are currently being processed and will be re-uploaded shortly." How long will the processing take, and what does "soon" mean? It would be very helpful if we could take a look at the offerings beforehand.

The food was okay; the burger and fries were cooked in the same fat, as was the schnitzel. I also ordered a fajita, but I just got a wrap plate. Overall, you can only eat there. I'd stay away from it.

A quaint pub with a predominantly young clientele, but some older people were also spotted. 300 beers make you wonder where they all come from. Definitely worth a visit, and the food is delicious too.

I was there about two weeks ago and unfortunately had to leave very quickly because several parents were giving their children iPads with the volume turned up full and some cartoons playing. The fact that no employee did anything about it shows me that the staff there couldn't care less.

The vibe and the taste of the food and drinks were really good—there's nothing to complain about here. Unfortunately, the service could have been significantly improved. We were completely ignored at first and had to actively raise our voices to even be served. The staff seemed distracted, and some of them were chatting with friends at the bar while other guests went unnoticed. One waitress even walked past us several times without acknowledging us. That was a real shame and tarnished the otherwise positive impression. Perhaps they can pay a little more attention to the quality of service in the future—then the overall package would be truly harmonious.

One-third of the draft beers we drank were warm, so it wasn't what it used to be! Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time, so it's probably the last. It's a shame, because the service and food were really satisfactory.

It's not the first time we've had to wait for food. Over an hour wait and only 2 beers served in that time. My burger was over done and very salty. I won't be coming back.

EDIT: I've since been back for breakfast and can't say anything negative. Our visit, described below, still sticks in my mind... ----- I used to be a really enthusiastic Finkenkrug customer. But whatever happened, the Finke hasn't changed for the better. Long wait times for food are something we're used to. But what happened to me (or rather, to us) recently was the last straw. We were there with five people. The service was terrible. Some of the waiters didn't even speak German. Then the wrong food was delivered. The food was cold and barely lukewarm. They then argued about it instead of taking it back or reheating it. My food was covered in curry, and after 30 minutes, I had a stomach ache. According to the doctor, it was a real curry overdose (turmeric). I was off sick for five days! I then contacted Finke. They sent me an apology and offered me a voucher as compensation. I thought, oh, very nice. 3 weeks later? Still no voucher. When I expressed my disappointment, the voucher arrived immediately by registered mail, along with an apology that they were sick... So, it wasn't all very nice.

The atmosphere is quaint and relaxed, with separate areas for smokers and non-smokers, as well as a lovely beer garden in the summer. The absolute highlight is the huge beer selection: over 300 varieties, many on tap – there's truly something for every taste. Cider fans won't be left out either. The food is solid pub fare, nothing special, but absolutely fine. The prices are fair, especially for beer and snacks. A plus: There are also some vegan dishes – e.g., burgers or stew. The service was mostly friendly during my visits, but sometimes a bit slow – depending on how busy it is. Bottom line: If you're looking for a cozy pub with a top-notch beer selection, this is the place for you. No frills, just honest pub culture in the heart of the university district. 🍻

Very nice stylish student bar, with very good cuisine! The unique selling point is the offer of hundreds of different types of beer from all over the world. In high season it is advisable to reserve a table in advance. Even the large beer garden is often full. The price-performance ratio is very good and does not correspond to the madness that other restaurateurs have fallen into in order to charge utopian high prices.

I'll start with the food, it tasted delicious, just like I wanted the hamburger and fries. 4 stars. On the other hand, I have a few concerns about the service; the waiters took a little too long for me...even though there was hardly anything to do. Nevertheless, the waitress was very loving. I liked the ambience best, it looked very clean, I really enjoyed eating and drinking comfortably. It's definitely worth repeating for me!

It was the last time we were there. The fat used for frying is the last thing. Everyone had problems after eating. The burgers are not worth the money in any way! I wonder how such a kitchen can survive!

The food menu is rich, but not too overwhelming and also tastes impressive. The prices are absolutely reasonable and the service is friendly. For me it has been one of the best bars/pubs in Duisburg for years.

Finkenkrug has already made a name for himself beyond the city limits, and in my opinion he deserves this good reputation. The last time I was there was for lunch on St. Patrick's Day. My Irish beer and Irish burger both tasted great. It was very cozy, which was partly due to the comfortable seats and partly due to the friendly service. It can get very busy in the evenings and on weekends, so it is recommended to reserve in advance. The prices may be a little higher than in the surrounding bars, but they are still fair enough that there are always a lot of students there. The extensive and changing selection of beers makes the Finkenkrug an ideal place for beer connoisseurs.

We had a very nice evening for two at the Finkenkrug. There are a lot of draft beers, of which I tried three different ones. The beer was very fresh, cold and tasty. With so many draft beers, you often have to worry about whether beers that are not drunk often taste good and are tapped properly beforehand so as not to get the old and stale liquor out of the tap. Luckily that seems to be done here. The food (burgers) were excellent. Good portions for a reasonable price these days. The service was attentive despite the busy location. We'll be stopping by more often now.

You really can't recommend eating at Finkenkrug. The BBQ burger I ordered was almost inedible. The meat was of poor quality and poorly prepared. Likewise the food of my companion (salad with chicken strips). That was different. Unfortunately it was my last visit to the Finkenkrug.

I eat there irregularly and often. No matter what I order (venison goulash winter edition) or veal schnitzel with puree and salad: the food is homemade (breaded, homemade puree) and tastes really good. Portions are ok. However, sometimes a bit too small for me as a craftsman. But I'm not a benchmark either because I put in a lot of calories. The only point of criticism: Unfortunately no takeaway cutlery. Otherwise I have nothing to criticize

The Finkenkrug has not lost its student pub flair over the decades. The food and service are really good and beer drinkers will definitely get wet eyes and throats given the incredible selection. The sanitary facilities are also completely ok When the house is full, the noise level is very high, which means you have to shout at each other. Otherwise always worth a visit.

We were here for breakfast for the first time today, our son recommended the Finkenkrug to us. And I have to say, he wasn't exaggerating. The selection of breakfast offerings is not mainstream, rather a bit unusual, but very interesting. The lunch/dinner menu also impresses with its creativity and versatility. I had the Mediterranean breakfast with tortilla, chorizo, ruccola, feta, pita bread and tomato chutney. My wife had the delicious filled breakfast wrap. Everything was well made and fresh. The staff committed and attentive. The atmosphere is rustic but cozy. All around a real recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

Food was the big weak point. The castles are at most average across the map. Sometimes too raw, sometimes fried to death, the topping is rather bulky... Loading very crowded and noisy. The service is a complete disaster. We ordered a second round of beers (there were only two of us). A beer came and despite being alerted twice, no second one came. There was a constant variety of drinks at the neighboring table.
