Faktorei in Duisburg

Although the inner harbor isn't exactly our favorite spot, Faktorei21 deserves credit for the fact that the view of the water through the large windows – especially in the evening – creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The interior boasts a modern loft design with an appealing industrial chic. The service was very attentive. The owner is dedicated to ensuring everything runs smoothly, which worked really well during our visit. We received very friendly service. We found the SELECTION concept particularly interesting. Eight dishes, each the size of a medium appetizer, are offered for €15. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared, elegantly presented, and offer excellent interpretations of the ingredients. This format works well because you can create your own personalized menu from your favorites – two to three courses are necessary for this. In addition, there's a very tasty bread selection that can be ordered separately. The wine list focuses heavily on German wines (approximately 95%), but we did discover a good rosé from Provence. All in all, it wasn't a cheap evening, but the overall package was good. The price-performance ratio is ambitious, but understandable given what was offered. We can happily recommend Faktorei21.

High-quality cuisine. I enjoyed it very much. In October 2025, they offered a kind of surprise menu, which is particularly suitable for small groups: everyone can try a little of everything. Excellent in presentation and taste!

This week, the four of us ate here for the second time in the last three weeks. Sure, you can eat well for less at the surrounding restaurants, but not at this level. All the dishes are exceptional, and the value for money is absolutely excellent. The same applies to the service and ambiance.

I reserved a table for my wife's birthday. The welcome was friendly, and the table was arranged according to our wishes. The food and drink were perfect. Finally, another top address. The service could still be improved. We had barely sat down when, without even seeing a menu, we were asked for an aperitif. When we asked for the menu, we were initially given two menus and only after asking for a wine list, and shortly afterwards we were asked for our order. Despite these minor issues, we will be back and look forward to it. We also liked the fact that they also offered 0.1 liters of wine, so we could have the wine of our choice with each course.

Sensationally delicious, unusual and appealing looking dishes and despite the slightly higher prices, a super fair price-performance ratio with super friendly staff or rather: team!

The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the harbor, and the interior is perfectly suited to the surroundings. The food was delicious. I'm not sure if it's Michelin-star quality, but it can't be far from it. The service was perfect.

It was late, and by chance we ended up at the Faktorei. We just wanted a quick bite to eat. Then we received super, super friendly service and an absolutely delicious meal! Our first evening in Duisburg ended very well!

This time we went to Faktorei21. I'm from Duisburg, and I'm always amazed at who dares to open a restaurant here. A restaurant, that is! And one with clear ambitions for a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food served is a revelation in terms of taste. The chef plays with the guests' expectations through the names of the dishes and fulfills them 100%. The presentation of the dishes is like a picture. Thus, in addition to being a feast for the palate, this is also a feast for the eyes. The prices are more than fair, and I would especially recommend the selections. For €15, you get a generous portion and a great overview of the kitchen's capabilities. The fact that you can even sit outside completes this experience perfectly. Important for outdoors: Don't forget your sunglasses :-)

Excellent hospitality and quality of the food! I've visited the Faktorei several times now and have been surprised each time: the restaurant's atmosphere is very relaxed and casual, fitting for Duisburg's inner harbor. The value for money of the food is unbeatable in the surrounding area: each course surprises with such attention to detail, very finely presented, and perfectly proportioned. The menu is regularly updated seasonally, but the classics are always retained. An absolute insider tip for lovers of fine dining – by the way, delicious vegan dishes can also be enjoyed here upon request.

It claims to be a Michelin-starred restaurant, but it doesn't live up to its claim. The price-performance ratio is accordingly poor.

Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended. We had the "selections," a selection of five dishes for €15 each. Every single dish, from "bread and circuses" to goat cheese with beetroot, cod, koji chicken, and warm chocolate cake with mango, was wonderful! The small plates were creative, the flavors perfectly balanced, and the textures wonderfully combined. The service was very friendly and attentive. Thank you so much for this wonderful evening!

A very pleasant evening, one we'll definitely be back for. We highly recommend everyone to eat there at least once. Even though it's a bit more expensive, it's definitely worth it. The quality of the food is so top-notch, you'll want to lick your plate. The ambiance and service are above average and deserve a positive mention.

Despite several free tables, we had to wait an hour. The real reason was probably that we had a toddler (2 years old) with us. Since we arrived at 8 p.m., I don't think many tables were still reserved. At least there weren't any exhibitors in sight.

Regardless of the fact that I ask myself why the concept has changed, I find it really sad that you obviously only get strange, routine multi-course menus... instead of the best steaks, burgers and fries far and wide👎 Otherwise, a really nice, modern, stylishly furnished little shop without a lot of frills with very friendly staff, where you are happy to accept the slightly higher but justified prices. My 5 stars apply to the previous concept.

The service was very attentive and friendly. The ambience is tasteful and pleasant. Unfortunately, the selection of dishes is very limited and the portions (for the price) are extremely small. The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, there was not a single vegan option and no plant-based milk (with coffee), which is something I definitely expect from a restaurant in this price range in 2025. You should also bring your time, as everything takes a long time (we waited over 20 minutes for the menu alone). We won't be coming back.

We visited Christian & Svetlana's restaurant, which is located in a beautiful location at Duisburg's Inn Harbor, with my family and is now an insider tip. The atmosphere there, especially in the evening, is fantastic. We have decided on a menu sequence, lots of delicacies that tempt the palate. Every dish is freshly prepared to star quality. Christian attaches great importance to using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The flavor compositions were a unique experience for us. Our round was accompanied by a selection of fantastic German quality wines. Take your time and let the loving service (you could give them all a tight squeeze) seduce you with culinary delights. Anyone who is open to culinary delights, quality and value for money is in the perfect place here. From now on we are regulars.

The trading post is located on Duisburg's inner harbor, which you have a beautiful view of from the restaurant. The interior design is solid in a positive sense - solid, cozy, with lots of wood and pictures on the walls, unobtrusive. We felt very comfortable. The charming service in the factory also contributed to this to a large extent, as they gave us very friendly and competent advice and answered all of our questions about the individual courses. As I said, we were there for the gourmet cuisine at a low price and accordingly took the 5-course tasting menu at a price of €85 per person (that's about the “low price” from Radio Duisburg's Instagram ad). The minimum number for the tasting menu is three courses for €55 per person. To be clear: We were not disappointed and the food is definitely worth the price. The spelled bread with “burnt butter” in the first course “Bread and Circuses” was delicious and we were already thinking about repeating the course, but then we decided not to because there were 5 courses in total. Course 2 (“Ackergold”) and 3 (“Miso Power”) were varied in taste and just as convincing. Definitely try it! From our point of view, there was a small dip in course number 4, the umami prank, which consisted of a piece of beef, light cucumber kimchi, smoked hollandaise and a kind of potato croquette in umami stock. The meat and the “potato croquette” tasted less inspiring compared to the other courses, which were much more refined in terms of taste, and were more reminiscent of “home-style” cuisine. However, the excellent dessert (“warm and liquid”) more than compensated for this. Our conclusion about the Fabrikei in general and the tasting menu in particular: You definitely have to try it out. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to the next menu. Compliments again to the kitchen and the service for this very successful evening.

Great food, good service. Still a recommendation.

The new concept with small main courses for 15 EU convinced me. All tested variants tasted very well balanced and were extremely successful. I assume that there will soon be changing daily variations, otherwise you will quickly eat your way through the program. Gladly again!

New chef, new concept in the factory, all reviews before February of this year are no longer current. Away from burgers and steaks, towards affordable fine dining at a star level, absolutely successful. Service was outstanding, competent advice on food and drink, every single dish was explained to you again at the table. For some dishes, a chef even took the opportunity to bring the dishes to the table personally. Sauces are poured over the dishes directly at the table. The taste was top notch and every dish offered a surprise in the form of exceptional textures and tastes. We each had a total of 3 small dishes + dessert and each course was worth the money (just under €15 per course). Fish and meat were buttery tender, even a simple piece of leek was processed into a taste highlight. The selection of wines also lives up to the concept and we had an excellent sweet white wine. If you have something to complain about, I would like the dishes to be served with a little less sauce and, if necessary, to be offered separately. Each sauce tasted outstanding, but the quantity overwhelmed the individual components. The ox cheek dumpling, for example, was completely lost in the strong mushroom sauce. Conclusion: Exactly what the inner harbor was missing, I hope your concept catches on and continues to be so well received (yesterday, a Wednesday, the store was almost full). We'll be back! 🙂

Vier Personen probieren etwas neues aus: Schönes Ambiente, übersichtliche Karte, man bekommt viel „erklärt“, bleibt staunend zurück, sucht sich 2 Punkte a.d. Speisekarte aus, wartet auf Bedienung um ein weiteres Wasser zu bestellen, bestellt das Essen und dannnn beginnt das Warten- und es dauert lange, richtig lange. Freitagabends, ein nicht volles Restaurant und wir hatten Hunger. Gericht 1 kommt und man überlegt ernsthaft, ob man das Kunstwerk nun wirklich zerstören soll, aber der Hunger sagt:mach es! Bei dieser äußerst übersichtlichen Menge ist der Teller auch ruckzuck leegegessen und dannnn wieder warten auf Gang 2 unserer Freundin. Derweil hatten wir kein Essen. Was soll ich sagen: Hunger, warten, bis Gang 3 kommt. Zwischenzeitlich hatten wir überlegt, ob die Osteria von gegenüber auch hier ins Restaurant liefert. Ich habe noch nie ein Restaurant hungrig verlassen…! Und, wir bekamen auch nicht mehr den Mantel gereicht, der uns zu Beginn soo zuvorkommend abgenommen wurde. (und das lag nicht daran, dass wir uns hätten anmerken lassen, was uns so umgetrieben hat). Fazit: wer gerne für teuer Geld wenig auf dem Teller haben möchte und Kunstwerke in Form von einzelnen Linsen etc. schätzt, ist hier richtig.

I was totally thrilled. I myself chose 3 courses, all of which were a highlight! Visually and taste-wise. First there was bread with dips and butter, then came the 3 courses. At least I was super full afterward! Accompanied by a drink, it was a really great evening with very friendly and courteous service at a very, very good price!

We really like the new selection card. We were able to try 6 of the nine “starters” and were absolutely thrilled. Bread and games are a nice start with aromatic spreads and the refreshment in between was very pleasant, thank you very much. The aperitifs were very well recommended. A tasteful start. Very good organic wines. Fast and courteous service!

A highlight of my gourmet life so far!

No food is cooked here. Is flash frozen and then warmed up. You can also make it at home. Simply nothing special and therefore not recommended as a training company. The IHK should remove some training companies from the list. This is one of them.

Fabulous! We had three courses and everything was a poem and almost cheap for what was offered, thank you very much, we will save and come back ;-) By the way, the chef is no stranger; Christian Krüger has already represented Germany at the Bocuse d’Or. What happens there can be seen in the cinema in the film "We live in Time" with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield and because the film is about transience and remembering, I recommend an unforgettable evening of sophistication with a cinema followed by delicious cuisine in the factory.

We were there for the first time and were thrilled by both the super friendly service and the excellent food. The starter was personally served by the chef. Here you can get gourmet cuisine at a very fair price. Gladly again!

Weddings of former friends celebrated there. The staff was super friendly and tried to fulfill all imaginable wishes as best as possible. The food tasted very good. Unfortunately, the portions are too small for the prices (this area needs to be improved). The ambience is attractively designed.

We were at the factory for the umpteenth time on November 30th, 2024. Unfortunately everything has changed for the worse, new owner and significantly slimmed down menu. Not the dishes that once existed. Just a steak dish and not even a fillet steak. There are plenty of burgers, if you like them this is a good place. We recommend checking the map online before making a reservation. For us, the trading post has been crossed off the selection list for now. Really a shame

We have already been here twice. An exceptionally good cuisine. The dishes and side dishes already have star cuisine character. The plates are very well prepared and the side dishes and sauces also have a sophistication.

It was a very pleasant evening with good food

After ax throwing, we strolled through Duisburg's inner harbor to find a place to refresh ourselves. After a short discussion in the group of four, we decided on the trading post. The reception was very friendly and we got a table on Friday evening without a reservation. Afterwards we were able to enjoy the wonderful ambience (nice restaurant by the water), because the service would take a little longer due to the staff shortage (very nicely communicated by the staff!!). When the burgers arrived, the first impression was that the portions were a bit small. But that's deceptive: the burgers are fantastic and the fries had an amazing sauce!! We were well full and still had room for a sorbet. It's worth repeating!

For me, the perfect sweet spot between fine dining and “normal” eating out. I was able to easily reserve a table online and received a friendly welcome. The atmosphere is cozy, modern and elegant; and immediately felt comfortable. Highly recommended is the appetizer platter and the burgers that the four of us shared. Everything seemed homemade from scratch and tasted great, although the fries were a bit cold and very salty. For me the best restaurant in the inner harbor if you want to go for something more upscale, definitely come back!

!! Danger !! If you want to eat expensive and bad food in a hurry, you're in good hands here. Please don't fall for the overall stars: apart from the name and the furnishings, this "restaurant" has nothing in common with the old trading post - absolute warning! The old star ratings should be taken away from this store. Reason: The owner has changed, the menu has changed, the employees have changed. - The card is completely replaced. For a “burgers and steaks” restaurant there are only 5 (!) burgers to choose from. It seems as if the old burgers and their ingredients were partially fused (i.e. 2 burgers before have now become a bad 'pirate copy'). - The entrecote 340g costs 75 euros - without side dishes. Unfortunately, the origin of the meat could not be answered. - The starters, e.g. bread with aioli and carpaccio, also overpriced and ridiculously small (dessert plate size for 19 euros) for the price. The aioli is a purchased finished product (we asked). - Burger Blaumacher was okay, size: like McDonald's cheeseburger - yellow, over-salted fries - no seasoning, not baked until golden brown. Just Pomnes fat with salt - Burger masterpiece an absolute joke: meat with mayonnaise, a mini lettuce leaf, dry and not tasteful in the overall impression. - Ordered the burger well done - got it pink - The employees seemed annoyed instead of helpful. They weren't unfriendly, but you could tell by their reaction (e.g. the salsa was missing from a burger) that they didn't like the criticism. They also couldn't or wouldn't answer friendly questions about the change in the concept and menu. We won't be coming back - we are massively disappointed. I gave a 4 star review 4 years ago and we were always satisfied.

What is left of the “old” trading post? Unfortunately only the facility and the name. We have been there countless times over the last 8-9 years. Yesterday, ignorant in the old restaurant under a new operator. The pulled pork burger was drowned in BBQ sauce. Pity about the meat. The taste is just mediocre. The burgers don't come close to the well-known price/performance ratio. It's no longer the familiar trading post and unfortunately we probably won't be coming back.

Super nice atmosphere and the service is really great.

We have been to the factory many times and have always been very satisfied. Now there is a new owner and we are really disappointed. The burger (masterpiece) consisted of a piece of meat that was spread with truffle mayonnaise on top and bottom and a lettuce leaf. There were also fries on the tray, which got cold very quickly. The brisket (fire pit) was very manageable. 4 small meat cubes with 4 small potatoes and 2 mushrooms plus a zucchini slice. It tasted good, but the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. It's a shame that the "old" owner passed on the restaurant. We'll look for another place. Maybe they should have developed a really new menu and not relied on similar dishes as before. So the current trading post has clearly lost compared to the previous trading post! By the way, the photos on Google are all old photos from the (old) factory!

We felt very comfortable there, the citizens were great, the staff was very nice, we really liked it and will come back.

Seit August 2024 unter neuer Leitung. Wir haben zu fünft dort zu Abend gegessen, sehr freundlicher Service, außergewöhnliche Vorspeisen, die Burger und das Fleisch saftig und lecker. Sehr schöne Atmosphäre und Ausblick auf den Innenhafen. Auch die Drinks konnten überzeugen.

We received a very friendly welcome in an attractive atmosphere. The restaurant is modernly furnished, extremely clean and well-kept. The terrace is fantastic! We found the service to be professional, but sensitive and slow. We had to wait around 20 minutes for our drink requests and menus to be taken. Unfortunately, there is almost no wine selection and the menu on site is much smaller than advertised online. Our starter was okay. After a good 1.5 hours we were informed that the preparation of the main courses would be delayed and that our waiting time would be another 20 minutes. To compensate, we were offered bread with alioli on the house. However, as part of a group, we canceled our pending order at this point and left the restaurant. We would not have expected that the bill for our drinks and appetizer would be waived and we would like to thank you again for this goodwill! As another reviewer already wrote: The trading post basically has potential but there is currently a lot of room for improvement. We join in here.

The trading post certainly has potential, but our visit was still a disappointment: - Starters: poor selection and not particularly creative. Where are classics like carpaccio or salads? - Selection: In addition to burgers, the factory also advertises steaks. But they are only available on a special menu where the largest steak was 180g... There was no fish or anything vegetarian from the grill - price/performance: Salad for 20€ is absolutely outrageous, it has maybe 100g, a glass of rosé for 8.5€ per 0.1 etc. My steak tasted good, but for 35€ for 150g at least more side dishes would have been desirable The drink service in particular was slow. Apart from us, a group only received their food at the end of our visit because the waitress apparently forgot to send the order to the kitchen. I hope the factory can turn things around again

Das Essen war gut zubereitet, kam aber in sehr kleinen Portionen. Für diese Leistung war der Preis klar überhöht. Zudem hat sich die Auswahl deutlich verringert. Von dem angekündigten Aufbruch unter neuer Führung war nichts zu spüren. Insofern enttäuschend !!

Great steak, best I’ve eaten in Duisburg so far. We will definitely come again. The only remark would be the decor, who came up with the idea to put the cows and then put a huge green backlight behind them. Misses the mark a bit.

Super nice and courteous service!!!!

Unfortunately, our visit yesterday was the first and last. The service was incredibly unfriendly, a different menu on site than online (half was missing), €20 for a tiny salad is a disgrace. Along with the broken glass drinking tube and the waitress's dismissive looks when special requests were made, the fries were dry and the wrong drinks had to be returned due to the lack of communication from the staff. The menu explicitly says *vegan* patty, but I was quickly corrected that it was only vegetarian. Please adapt the menu or avoid confusing guests with incorrect terminology. The patty of an accompaniment was almost too raw, one wish would have been to ask whether it was medium rare or well done. All in all, it's a shame, we were really looking forward to a visit.

Great location in Duisburg and Hammer Essen. Highly recommended

The restaurant makes a clean and well-kept impression. The reception was friendly, the tables were attractively set. The food was decent, although I would have expected more given the rather ambitious pricing. The service was friendly but very slow. Drinks were only provided upon request. The empty glasses were not cleared away. At the end of the evening I had four glasses in my place. In one case, friendly comments were met with quite annoyance. The trading company basically has potential, but there is currently a lot of room for improvement.

Ich bin früher so gerne dort essen gegangen und hatte mich auf das Essen anlässlich meines Geburtstages sehr gefreut aber wurde leider enttäuscht. Früher war es wirklich sexy food, was immer etwas ganz Besonderes hatte und das Personal war unfassbar gut geschult und freundlich. Heute sind leider nur noch die Preise besonders. Es fängt schon mit lieblos in Plastik eingeschweißte Menükarten an und das Personal war zwar freundlich aber es hatte nur wenig Ahnung. Die Burger wirken uninspiriert und genauso gut oder schlecht wie in anderen Burger-Buden auch, nur dass sie hier mit ab 20 Euro deutlich teurer sind. Vielleicht sind die Steaks besser aber Preise bis 45 Euro, waren mir zu viel um es auszuprobieren, denn wenn da der Geschmack auch nicht mehr so gut ist, wäre das sehr ärgerlich. Es ist echt so schade, aber das war mein letzter Besuch dort.

Steak was delicious. I also ordered prawns. Prawns are not that good, but the bread was perfect with prawns. Also, burger looks huge and delicious. But I couldn't try that unfortunately.

The Fabrikei was once a recommended restaurant and is now falling far short of its own standards. Ambience: bright, simple furnishings. Good view of the inner harbor. Small outdoor area. The menu is presented as a careless, double-sided A4 printout. Food: Quality of meat and side dishes was average. On our last visit, the preparation of the steaks actually met our wishes. This wasn't always the case on previous visits. Staff/service: severely suboptimal. The questions asked by email during the reservation were not answered. The first round of drinks served did not match our order. We pointed out several times that we needed certain information on the invoice and stated this clearly, but it was still incorrect or incomplete on the invoice. Conclusion: There are few reasons to go out to eat in the factory with the poor price and performance ratio currently offered.

Anyone who is here in Duisburg's inner harbor should not miss the trading post... Great food and great service 😊👌

Very good food, the only comment I have is on the service, we were an English-speaking group and each time we had to deal with the service speaking only German. The waitress didn't know basic words in English (e.g. fries)

The trading post is beautifully located on the inner harbor, the employees are very friendly and I also liked the atmosphere. The burger (Blaumacher) was really tasty, but unfortunately the fries were too salty and I basically had the remaining little "crumbs" in my pot. A bit disappointing for the price... All in all, recommended.

How do you describe perfect? The service was great. Very accommodating, friendly and service-oriented. Food... awesome... when it comes to steak etc. I would say the best in Duisburg. The burgers are also great. A visit is almost mandatory. You will not regret it.

Great service, poor food. The vegetarian burger did not correspond to the description in the menu and was instead replaced with a pressed meat substitute product, which was inedible. Guests who expected a delicious vegetarian patty will be disappointed here. The whole thing comes at a price of €19-21. The ambience is fine, but the cow pictures on the wall are questionable. Despite the outstanding performance of the waiters and waitresses, the main feature of a restaurant - the food - unfortunately could not be fulfilled. Unfortunately, I will not visit the restaurant again and cannot recommend it.

For me as a vegetarian it was great that all burgers were also available in vegetarian versions. And these were incredibly delicious!!! However, it was disturbing to me that the entire restaurant is decorated with beautiful photos of cubes and pigs... In my opinion, this is extremely macabre and questionable in a restaurant where the main thing to eat is meat...

For all vegetarians who find themselves here in this steakhouse for whatever reason: Each burger can optionally be ordered with a vegetarian and really delicious patty. Of course, the oversized photos of happy cows and pigs on the walls are somewhat macabre in the eyes of a vegetarian or vegetarian, but in the end it is of course up to each person to decide whether they should visit a steakhouse at all.

What I really like is the clear menu. The food was really tasty, we were there in a larger group and also ordered a starter plate which I can really recommend. I always enjoy going there.

Schönes Restaurant, die Mitarbeiter super freundlich aber leider überfordert oder nicht geschult. Haben auf das nächste Bier leider jede runde mindestens 15 min warten müssen. Das Essen war wirklich lecker.

Eine Empfehlung in Duisburg! Burger und Steaks absolut top. Wir -waren zu sechst - und hätten noch das Ein- oder Andere Getränk mehr bestellt, wenn der Service öfter zu sehen gewesen wäre. Aber alle super nett und freundlich.
