Fährhaus am Diemelsee in Diemelsee

You really can't call this a restaurant, they serve bratwurst and steak from the grill with fries and it's not inviting

It's a really well-attended moped meeting place.

We were there on a Saturday when there was moderate activity and bright sunshine. Rustic atmosphere, self-service at the counter, lots of seats inside and outside, especially outside, a very nice view of Lake Diemelsee. Food and drinks of above-average quality at fair prices. What's annoying: there's a sign at the entrance that says the parking lot is equipped with license plate recognition and - if you pay at the machine - you'll be charged 40 euros for parking. You don't want to be greeted with a threat straight away. Especially not if you show up there for lunch. Only when we asked were we told in the restaurant that the regulation does not apply to motorcycles - perhaps this could have been mentioned on the sign...

I always go there on a motorcycle tour. It's always nice to meet like-minded people and chat.

Friendly staff and a beautiful location on the water!

The bratwurst fries upstairs where the biker place is is great. Unfortunately, the service downstairs in the coffee restaurant is completely overwhelmed, if you sit down downstairs it takes forever until you are noticed. Every year we try to order something in the coffee shop downstairs, unfortunately it's always the same. Then we'd rather stay upstairs and order there, at least it works.

On the one hand, the restaurant serves motorcyclists with a rustic menu (bratwurst and the like), and on the other hand, there is a restaurant with home-style cuisine on the banks of Diemelsee. That's worth a visit.

Sehr schlechte, unkoordinierte Bedienung. Draussen sowie hinter der Theke. Die Gäste sind Tischeweise gegangen, da die Bedienung nur bestimmte Tische bedient hat und den Terrassenbereich komplett ignoriert hat und das trotz mehrmaligen Bitten, die Bestellung aufzunehmen. Stattdessen wurde der Nachbartisch bedient, die gerade erst gekommen waren. Andere Gäste am Nachbartisch waren schon 15 Minuten weg, als der Kaffee auf den Tisch gestellt wurde. Anstatt ihn an andere wartende Gäste zu reichen, wurden die vollen Tassen auf den leeren Tisch gestellt ....Nicht zu empfehlen.

Beautifully decorated cafe with delicious homemade cakes and great chocolate and coffee drinks.

So cake and coffee is good. But the kitchen is terribly bad. I don't think a trained chef works here. 1.5 hours to serve cold food? The bright spot is the service.

Finally you can eat delicious food there again - unfortunately it wasn't so good for a while. Good staff is just difficult to find. Please make sure that the menu on the website is adapted to the current one.

Unfortunately only 4 ⭐️ because the Champions cream sauce had no sauce, see photo. More sauce and it would be great 👍

Quite an appealing menu that goes far beyond currywurst or schnitzel with fries. Good coffee and friendly service that deserves a tip. There is room for improvement in terms of ambience, but this would then be reflected in the prices, which are currently very reasonable.

The last motorcycle ride for me this year. Wonderful weather, a beautiful view, happy people and 100s of motorcycle riders 🥰 Sitting here at Diemelsee with a good coffee cream means happiness for me. A perfect little getaway. In this restaurant we are always served by cheerful employees. The prices are ok, the food is very good and the service is really good. Despite how busy it is on days like this, things run like clockwork here. 🥰 Absolutely and always recommended! 👍😘

The ferry house is located directly on the cycle path, making it an ideal stop for a break.

Service was very unfriendly at lunchtime today (ask about food) and had an arrogant tone, so we were dealt with by 4 people

food very good; Unfortunately, this was overshadowed by the not particularly competent service. The food sometimes came far too late and side dishes were completely forgotten. The starters basically came with the main course. Just generally very disorganized.

We were there on a Sunday with a group of 6 and ordered a starter, main course and dessert. First point of criticism about the service: The starters and main courses came to 5/6 people at the same time. So since the starters were soups, we ate the main courses first so that they didn't get cold. The side dish was also missing from a main course. The sixth person only got the main course when asked. During the payment process, the service again left something to be desired. Since we each wanted to pay separately, we each dictated to the waiter what we had ordered. Unfortunately, the effort was completely in vain as 6 receipts arrived, only one of which was correct. We accepted that too and then settled it between ourselves. The cherry on the cake was when we were talking and laughing a bit and the waiter asked in an unfriendly way if we were making fun of him. Conclusion: The food tasted good but the service was subpar.

We took a walk near the Diemelsee and stopped for lunch at Fährhaus am Diemelsee. We were allowed to take a seat in the restaurant with our dog. Super friendly and very hospitable employees provided us with delicious drinks and food. The food is good and the portions are quite large. The ice cream cups are absolutely great! This restaurant is neat and definitely worth a stop.

We only had waffles and coffee, but it was really tasty. But the rest of the menu also sounded good, and the influx of guests speaks for itself. We will definitely stop by again.

Nice view of the lake, two very friendly waitresses who were on their toes. Unfortunately, the food wasn't our cup of tea. Perhaps the advertised Mediterranean cuisine still needs to be learned. Our two selected dishes were far from that.

OK as a stopover with the motorcycle. Things are getting tight for drivers.

Great terrace. We stopped here on our hike along the Diemelsteig and had a cold drink to refresh ourselves. Very nice in the autumn sun.

Restaurant with its own flair. The decor is rustic. We had 2 rib-eye steaks with a side of wine and shandy. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The onions are very tasty. The service is very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately I can't judge the food. Wanted to get 2 ice creams in my hand at the open window (ice cream stand). After waiting for 5 minutes, the waitress came and said it would take at least 15 minutes while she got ice cream from the counter for guests sitting in the restaurant. (Huh?! Just wanted a scoop of ice cream on my hand :D ) I'll just go somewhere else. I had already used the toilets before, but they were always very nice and clean. That's why the second star :D

I don't know what happened at the biker meeting, unfortunately I haven't been there for almost 2 years, this morning at 11:30 a.m. again and never again Fries with neck steak, oh man! The steak was powder dry, it was definitely cooked in the fridge and then heated in the microwave, you could see it from the outside, there were strange brownish spots, and there were fries that were fine. But for a price of almost 10 euros for a shoe sole with fries, no thanks!! I'm not coming back anymore. Unfortunately, when I left the biker meeting, I didn't see any waitress, otherwise I would have told her what I thought After cutting two pieces off, I threw the steak in the trash can

We were passing through and wanted to treat ourselves to a break. The younger waitress was very friendly and professional, the older lady became unpleasant when I asked her that my food wasn't done. She became personal and loudly complained about it in the restaurant about everything I could think of to complain about. The situation was very uncomfortable and disrespectful.

The burgers with my wife and son Both were completely raw! Not medium but really really raw! When you pointed it out in a friendly manner, the older lady immediately became very snotty and bitchy and said, "We're not at McDonald's!" During the payment process you could still hear her complaining loudly about us... Simply without words how a man can defend such a poor kitchen performance! The view is very beautiful. The food leaves a lot to be desired.

Nice meal. Took great care of very young baby. Everything was possible. We ate outside the popular times in the early evening. Definitely recommended with a baby. Its also nice and fast which was really nice with an unreliable young baby who might get to sleep early. She understood that without saying it. So 1000% guest friendly

Eiskaffee war richtig gut, mein Amarena Becher so lala. Viel Sahne und sehr süß. Beides zusammen für gut 13 € war absolut ok. Bei dem was Eisbecher 2024 so kosten….

Always a nice destination. With a view of the Dimmelsee during the motorcycle break. Delicious cakes, friendly service. A colorful group of motorcycles on site.

Unfortunately, as is so often the case these days: Service is very nice and friendly, the staff shortage has also hit here. During busy times it takes a little longer. Nice to sit downstairs and to travel through upstairs. The view is great, the prices are moderate, the location says it all. The furnishings are finely and harmoniously coordinated, the toilets are super clean, there is something about this place in terms of ambience, enjoying the sun, fog, rain and also walking there, not rustic, but professional, yet casual for the coffee biker Guest gets his money's worth. The only thing is finding your way between cult and service at the bottom and 'well, that's how it works' at the top.

Just always a great view of the lake and a joy to eat here by the lake

Good food with drawbacks such as "too strongly seasoned", spiciness/spicy sauce not mentioned in the menu or a lot of salad as a topping for the risotto. Unfortunately, we also waited around 45 minutes to an hour for our food, which was clearly too much.

We had dinner there with the family today and I was very disappointed. The food was expensive and we waited for almost an hour even though there weren't really many guests there. The steak was well done and not medium rare as ordered and the fries for 3.5 euros extra were partly over-fried. There wasn't even a salad with the 28 euro steak. That also cost 3.5 euros extra. I wouldn't eat there again.

First time there and the food was really tasty and it was nice there. It was warm where I sat. A fan wouldn't have been bad. But I also wanted to be able to sit down there, it was pleasantly cool. But I wanted to enjoy the view

Way too long a wait to get food. Slow service and it seemed to be understaffed and that time. Ordered Apfelstrudel and coffee. Got both, first coffee and 30 minutes later the strudel. The kitchen capacity seemed to be undermanned. The strudel was not special.

After a long hike, I took a break in the beer garden by the lake and ordered an alcohol-free Hefeweizen. I thought the price of 5 euros was a bit excessive. Up the stairs there is the biker meeting place where it cost a reasonable 3.50. Nevertheless, the staff also has to be paid.

Today we had dinner at the ferry house with a large group. The atmosphere is cozy and the service was attentive and friendly. Special requests were taken into account and every effort was made to please everyone. Unfortunately the size of the meal was a disappointment. For €14.90 for the schnitzel plus €3 for the side dishes of croquettes, I got a carelessly arranged plate with 4 croquettes! and a hand-sized schnitzel. That's simply not enough for the price. The quality was also just average for me. The Blackheads' dishes were similarly small and average in taste. €4.60 for a 0.4 Pilsner is sporty. When asked, there was a small bowl of pomme, but overall it was just not enough for the price asked. The nice staff and the child-friendly atmosphere saved the evening.

Super tasty dish, the ribbon noodles are a dream. My companions had the schnitzel. Also very good. Very tasty fries. For dessert we had apple strudel. Highly Recommended. The service and supervisors were super nice and friendly. Absolute insider tip.

A bit stressful for a service on Sunday. There is an urgent need to work on this. The people outside stood up again in rows. It's a shame about the business that wasn't generated.

We ate there at Christmas and New Year's Eve and absolutely loved it. The gastronomic development has been totally positive! After the chef changed, the menu is very thin and the food is no longer a highlight. There is a lack of good staff everywhere.

Tijdens onze wandeling rond de Diemelsee hebben we hier geluncht. In deze periode (november) is het erg rustig in deze buurt maar het Fährhaus was gelukkig nog open. Ik heb genoten van een heerlijke schnitzel met paddenstoelen en mijn echtgenote had een voortreffelijke vegetarische lasagne; en dat voor een redelijke prijs.

Ich bin im Sommer oft am Fährhaus. Eine schöne Motorradtour, und am Ende landet man immer wieder am Diemelsee. Die Speisen sind gut, die Bedienung geht schnell und unkompliziert. Es schmeckt gut was will man mehr. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Ich unternahm dorthin meine Geburtstagsausfahrt. Im Sommer stand hier alles voll Motorrädern. Jetzt im November waren meine Maschine und die meiner Begleitung die einzigen. Wir saßen unten im Wintergarten mit herrlichem Blick auf den See. Tolle Herbstfarben und Sonnenschein. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Kleine Auswahl, doch jeder findet etwas. Wir kommen wieder!

Wollten dort essen leider war es an diesem Tag nicht möglich So haben wir nur etwas getrunken Atmosphäre ist gut und der Service nett.

Allerheiligen dort zum späten Mittagessen gewesen. Nur eine Bedienung anwesend unten in der Gastronomie. Oben war geschlossen. Trotz vollem Restaurant, blieb die Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Jeder der an einen Tisch ging, wurde erst mal beachtet und angesprochen. Getränke und Essen kamen angemessen.
