Had a wonderful culinary evening in absolutely unique hospitality. We can highly recommend Ember!

Starting off the staff was amazing, very attentive, genuinely friendly and competent regarding the selection recommendations of drinks. The service was spotless and we felt very welcome. The location is special and the atmosphere was nice, especially with the sun going down. The food was good overall, especially the variety of starters and the lamb for the main course. Most of the dishes are cooked using the open fire. However the courses did not tell a consistent story and were not well coordinated. As a result, value for money was lacking a bit. However, we could have overlooked that if we had been able to enjoy a pleasant evening, which unfortunately was not the case. Sitting right next to us, there was a group of Americans who were very loud and obnoxious, showing no awareness that other guests were also sitting at the long communal table, which is part of the concept. It felt like this group wasn't even having a conversation with each other but was instead performing, with each person trying to be louder than the previous speaker. This was very unfortunate and ruined the evening for us and, likely, for several other guests as well, which made eye contact several times but this group couldn’t read the room whatsoever, being the stereotype of ignorance. This situation isn’t the fault of the team, however the concept of having one long table creates this risk.

They don’t tell you, the building under construction. You have to walk up 5 floors. Setting expectations would be helpful. The price-to-value ratio is quite disappointing at €75 per person. Here’s a breakdown of what we received: Appetizer: two grilled sardine sticks, some fried nuggets, tomato with olive oil, some lettuce salad, and the other noodle plate I didn’t get to eat at all because the people didn’t pass down the plate. Main course: A small portion of fish and sausage. By the time the fish reached us, there was barely anything left—just a spoonful of fish near the neck. The sausage was just a typical processed sausage. And a plate of potatoes. Dessert is a spoon of cream and cherry and sth very sweet. Overall, if you’re planning to visit, it’s best to go with friends. Otherwise, it’s a waste of money, and you’ll find yourself sitting with strangers, forced to make small talk while getting the last scraps of food passed down the table. They should have grilled one more fish for the table and never serve sausage. Sausage is not a main course meal. The more I think about this meal, the more infuriating I get because i paid to get served the last scrap of the table.

I've been to Ember Essen twice and each time it was an unforgettable evening. The food is delicious and you can feel the love with which each dish is prepared. I appreciate the seasonal and regional menus and the proximity to the producers; you can also taste the quality of the products. The atmosphere, whether outside in nature or in the rooftop restaurant, was always relaxed and warm, without seeming strained. Both times I was lucky enough to meet very great people at my table. I am looking forward to the next time.

Ember has surprised me with culinary delights every time I visit and is now one of my favorite addresses in Berlin. In addition to the brilliant view and the very courteous service, I particularly like the shared menu principle - where else can you enjoy such a variety of courses for this price and after the second glass of wine at the latest the ice with the people sitting next to you is broken 😄

The rooftop restaurant Ember – Open Fire Cooking in Kreuzberg is a real gem! The atmosphere is incredibly familiar and the open-air kitchen with fire bowl on the roof terrace makes for a unique experience. What I particularly remember is the wonderful bright yellow risotto Milanese with beef kidney fat that we received as a welcome - simply delicious! After dinner we had the pleasure of chatting with one of the Italian guest chefs. He was very friendly and even gave us great restaurant tips for Rome. An unforgettable evening that I can warmly recommend to everyone!

The dishes were prepared with exquisite care and dedication - we were particularly impressed by the grilled duck and grilled asparagus. The service was extremely attentive and warm. The ambience, especially the roof terrace with a breathtaking view of the sunset over the rooftops of Kreuzberg, is very unique.

…Berlin can still do it! It's been a long time since I've been absolutely convinced by a restaurant. A restaurant that doesn't try to be too hip, doesn't over-ambitiously reach for the seasonal fermentation glass shelf and doesn't dwell too much on superficiality. No, as long as you make it into the freight elevator in the Kreuzberg courtyard without getting lost, you can expect a table bathed in sunshine and air that contains grill aromas and will immediately make you hungry! The evening is now spent with good wine, sensational food and strangers who are anything but strangers at the end of the dinner. Nice concept, super nice team and food that just tastes very, very good!

Unfortunately not worth the money. The location is nice and the starters were quite good except for the salad that was totally over salted. The main courses were unfortunately very disappointing and so were the desserts. You can eat much better and have a nicer evening in Berlin for around €100 per person. The waiting time of over an hour between starter and main course was also incomprehensible.

Incredible experience at Ember! I was on a wait list for Saturday night and my place didn’t get confirmed until last minute, so my request for gluten free options probably wasn’t on a radar. We came and they were so quick and accommodating providing gluten free options and substitutes for the things I couldn’t eat (some of which were better than the original menu according to my friend who tried both), gluten free bread was probably Aera. They also assured me that they’re very careful preparing the food to avoid cross contamination. Food was absolutely delicious and there was a lot of it. Highly recommend!

Great food with a chill atmosphere. Interesting combinations of food which taste great. Service was very good even though they did forget our water, cutlery and wine. But very friendly and helpful. Slightly too pricey for what they offer but all in all a nice experience and worth a visit if you want something different, both culinary and location wise.

Seasonal 4 course menu (fish, summer fruits, tomatoes) with optional add-ons - can highly recommend the sweetbreads! We really enjoyed the family-style of sharing an entire fish between us, and the tomatoes were really the star of the show - fresh and a little bit confit in the smoke. The ice cream dessert, although fun lacked the connection to the name but overall we had a great time and the atmosphere was really special.

Enjoyable dinner experience at ember The location is great: the view, the atmosphere, the light. The service is very professional and friendly. They take care of everything. The menu is seasonal (tomatoes, herbs, fish, ice, strawberry), in 4 courses and optional adds on. I missed the connection between the first dish and desserts with the rest. I would have liked to have tasted the fire cooking on all ingredients (the ice for example, for the desert) to have a constant experience from beginning to end. Great surprise was the entire fish cooked on fire, to cut yourself. It was refreshing to go away from the fancy restaurant manners and share the dish.

Rooftop location was incredible and loved the staff and vibe. Unfortunately have to agree with the other reviews that the dishes were 'good' but not amazing. I also felt there to be a course missing with the menu—the dinner was a bit fast and rushed.

Lieu bien caché (comme parfois à Berlin). Espace sympathiquement aménagé mais très bruyant. Tables bien espacées mais beaucoup trop petites. Menu unique à 68€. La boule de pain peu cuite est proposée en supplément à 6€... Les accompagnements des plats nous sont servis dans 2 récipients alors que nous sommes 3... Les idées du Chef nous sont longuement expliquées par un personnel très sympathique, avec peine, du fait du de l'ambiance sonore insupportable. Le résultat dans l'assiette est moyen. Deux poissons nous sont présentés dans un plat unique accompagnés d'un livret explicatif pour lever les filets. Est-ce le rôle du client de se livrer à cette opération ? En conclusion, il y a beaucoup à faire pour rendre cet établissement conforme à ce que l'on peut attendre au vu du prix demandé.

Ein fantastischer Abend in einem schönen Ambiente über den Dächern von Kreuzberg. Der Service war absolut perfekt. Das Menü perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt, die Extras haben auch fantastisch mit den Gängen harmoniert. Die offene Küche unter einem Zelt auf der Dachterrasse ist ein Hingucker und die Köche haben sich auch die Zeit für ein kleines Gespräch genommen. Nochmals vielen Dank an das gesamte Team für dieses tolle Erlebnis.

Wir als Gruppe hatten uns lange auf einen schönen Abend gefreut - der uns auch jetzt, nach etwas Zeit zum Rekapitulieren, noch immer in keiner guten Erinnerung geblieben ist. Das lag unter anderem an der Umsetzung des Konzepts, der Sauberkeit der Toiletten und dem ungeschulten Personal. Neben dem 4-Gang-Menü bestellten wir die Sides, welche (wie in der Karte zu lesen war) zusätzlich berechnet wurden. Letztendlich waren wir aber froh darüber, denn wirklich satt war am Ende dennoch keiner von uns. Wie in den Kommentaren zuvor zu lesen ist, teilt(e) man sich Sättigungsbeilagen - in unserem Fall je zu dritt. Das Konzept an sich ist ein tolles - die Umsetzung in den Gängen war jedoch nicht überzeugend. Der Fisch war zwar (scheinbar) gegrillt, jedoch ohne jegliche Grillaromen, dafür aber viel zu übergart - bei einer Makrele ein (zweites) Todesurteil. Die in der Karte beschriebenen „seasonal greens“ entpuppten sich als Blattsalat mit Rauchöl, welcher leider versalzen war. Die restlichen Gängen konnten leider ebenfalls nicht überzeugen. Bezogen auf die Sauberkeit der Toiletten muss man erwähnen, dass man sich bereits ab 19:30/20:00 gefühlt hat wie auf einer Berliner Clubtoilette. Das Personal war zwar freundlich, konnte dennoch kaum Auskunft über Weine und Gerichte geben. Merkwürdig war, dass zwei Personen von uns die Servietten auf den Schoß gelegt wurden. Wir gehörten zum ersten Durchgang und dachten deshalb, dass es normal sei, dass man zwischen den Gängen nicht kurz mit seinem Getränk auf der Terrasse entspannen könne. Nachdem wir aber durch das Menü gehetzt wurden, teilte man uns mit, dass wir noch sitzen bleiben können, „denn der Tisch sei heute eh nicht mehr vergeben.“ Von uns leider keine Empfehlung. Schade.

Wir waren am Samstag im Rooftop, der Weg ins 5.OG ist schon allein ein Erlebnis und erweckt den Eindruck von einem hidden secretly Restaurant. Dann öffnet sich die Fahrstuhltür und du bist über den Dächern von Kreuzberg. Die Location ist einfach nur mega schön. Das Essen ist der Hammer und das junge Emberteam arbeitet souverän und absolut professionell. Wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend, wir kommen wieder.

Wir haben Leidenschaft für Besonderes und dieses Restaurant ist eine wirklich schöne Erfahrung. Das Essen ist sehr geschmackvoll und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr fair. Tolle Atmosphäre!

Aussen Pfui, innen Huii😊 Ihr werdet wissen, was ich meine, wenn Ihr mal hingeht... Insgesamt eine gute Erfahrung: Bedienung nett, Essen gut, nette Dachterrasse auf der auch gekocht wird (man kann zuschauen), der Raum etwas hellhörig , Musik könnte leiser sein. Der Crémant war wirklich gut😋 95 Euro pro Nase mit Trinkgeld.

Ich kann das jedem empfehlen der sich mal was gönnen möchte, lange schon nicht mehr so gut gegessen. Die Location wechselt öfters, genauso wie das Menü.

A tad overpriced for what it is. Service a bit arrogant to begin with but got better throughout the evening. Its clearly aimed at hype searching tourists, didn’t feel very welcome as a local so will not give it another try. Rooftop location is awesome and the food is yummy.

Nice. Alles war super. EMPERnada köstlich. Das Chicken - queen of the night- die Portionen zu unserer grossen Freude üppig. Der Ausblick zum Aperitiv über den Dächer zum Sonnenuntergang ein besonderer Berlin Moment. Ein echtes hotti die Location.

Cool location. Cool staff. Good wine list. Food was good but not even close to amazing. And the pricepoint requires amazing or better so it didn't feel worth it. I don't mind paying an absolute premium but the food should live up to the hype.

Definitely one of the most exciting gastronomic experiences in Berlin at the moment. Beautiful, very Berlin-ish location at a Kreuzberg rooftop. Very attentive service in a casual atmosphere. Food is very approachable and utterly delicious. This being said, there is a lot attention to detail and the fine fine dining skills of the kitchen crew shine through in every element (spaghetti ice with grilled strawberry sauce, pecorino and fig leaf oil, anyone?). Pricing for food and wine is very fair at that quality level. Highly recommended!

Ziemlich Hipster, so weit ok. Essen ok, aber mehr auch nicht. Ambiente lebt davon, dass es auf dem Dach ist, allerdings gefühlt etwas Schulllandheim der 90er mit zu lauter Musik. Das der Service vornehmlich auf Englisch ist, ist man ja nun in Berlin an vorgeblich hippen Plätzen gewohnt; gehört wohl zum Konzept. Frech bis unverschämt finde ich dann doch, dass die Frage nach einem Absacker erst mit einem freundlichen, aber positiven Lächeln beschieden wird und auf Nachfrage dann mit der Ausage (O-Ton): „Gibt es nicht für jeden“. Sorry, aber das hinterlässt bei einem bis dahin netten Abend einen extrem schlechten Nachgeschmack; insbesondere wenn man zu viert 500 EUR bezahlt halt inklusive 50 EUR Trinkgeld. Dafür gibt es Kreuzberg zu viele Restaurants wo sowohl Küche als auch das Gefühl willkommen zu sein deutlich besser sind. Und nicht falsch verstehen, abzulehnen wäre ok gewesen auf transparente, freundliche Art. So ist es leider ein No Go; insbesondere mit der letztlich unverschämten Begründung. vielleicht möglich im Umgang mit Touristen die nicht wiederkommen und denen es in erster Linie darum geht zu Hause zu erzählen wie vorgeblich fancy Berlin ist. Ich bin empfänglich für guten Service und gleichzeitig empfindlich wenn dem nicht so ist. Insofern definitiv keine Empfehlung.

Ein wirklich sehr guter Abend, hervorragendes Essen (mal ein neues Konzept-alles auf dem Holzkohlegrill), toller Service…(bis auf) und ein gutes Ambiente. Leider kam auf einmal ungefragt die Rechnung…. Doppelbelegung am Abend, stand wohl in der Reservierung (stimmt). Nun haben wir zu zweit auch nicht nur nen kleinen Bon gemacht. Da hätte man zumindest sein „Bedauern“, „Sorry“ oder sonstiges netter rüber bringen können….wenn man wollte. Aber wie zu Beginn geschrieben, schöner Abend.

Es war einfach wunderbar! Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend mit fabelhaftem Essen, sehr guter Weinauswahl und auch die alkoholfreien Getränke waren interessant und lecker. Wir waren im Alten Archiv – eine super schöne Location, liebevoll und exklusiv hergerichtet für den Abend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, auch, weil Tobias uns gleich zu Beginn begrüßt und durch's Gebäude geführt hat. Im Gegenteil zur vorherigen Bewertung ist uns die Musikauswahl positiv aufgefallen. Für uns war es ein tolles Erlebnis, an das wir uns noch lange und gern erinnern werden.

Wir haben gestern am Dinner am Flussbad teilgenommen. Insgesamt war es leider eine enttäuschende Erfahrung für uns. Die Location am Wasser ist toll, die umgebende Architektur und das grundlegende Konzept spannend. Es ist in zwei langen Tischreihen für ca. 40Personen (etwas lieblos) eingedeckt. Serviert wurde ein 6 Gänge Menü, das geschmacklich gut war, jedoch ohne außergewöhnliche oder überraschende Highlights. Leider haben wir den ganzen Abend nach dem besonderen Erlebnis für den Gast gesucht- vergeblich! Weder die Gänge noch die Weine wurden für alle erklärt oder angekündigt, die Teller schnell wieder abgeräumt, auch wenn der letzte Bissen noch nicht einmal runter geschluckt wurde oder die Tischgruppe aufgegessen hatte. Dazu liefen laute Hip Hop Beats, die eine Unterhaltung am Tisch zusätzlich nicht einfach gemacht haben. Zum Flussbad ist zudem zu sagen, dass die Toiletten im Gebäude etwas weiter entfernt liegen. Wir wussten nie, wann es mit dem nächsten Menüpunkt weitergeht und es kam vor, dass ein Besuch des Badezimmers einen kalten/ nicht sehr genießbaren Gang zur Folge hatte. Ein zusätzlicher Stressfaktor, der mit ein wenig mehr Kommunikation hätte behoben werden können. Insgesamt fühlten wir uns ziemlich durchgeschleust und etwas allein gelassen und hätten uns mehr Gastgeberqualitäten und eine Begleitung durch den Abend gewünscht, die wirklich eine ‚Experience‘ ausmacht. So war der Abend leider nur enttäuschendes Mittelmaß!! Schade
