Ellas - Griechisches Restaurant in Eutin

We waited two hours for our food and were never asked if we wanted anything else. After three hours, we went upstairs to pay. We won't be coming back.

I can't say anything about the food. We had reserved a table for nine people at 6 p.m. At 6:15 p.m., there were still no tables available. Then they tried to squeeze six of us into a table for four in the middle of the aisle, with a wobbly bistro table simply placed there. We were fed up with that, and left. We've never experienced such terrible service in Hanover. It's all the more frustrating when you've had a tight schedule for the evening because you have to go straight to the night shift.

The food is super delicious and plentiful! The "all you can eat and drink" offer for only €20.90 is unbeatable!!! We'll be back...

Very good gyro, friendly service. I look forward to going back every time! A little light on tzatziki, but that's certainly a matter of taste. Gluten-free options are also available. My friend with celiac disease hasn't had any problems so far. (Be careful with the dressing! The salad mayo, after consulting with the chef, contains wheat, as indicated on the allergen menu.)

We were there last Saturday with 15 people and were very impressed. The food was incredibly delicious. The price was excellent, especially considering the €20.90 menu. 10/10 Excellent service; we didn't have to wait long for anything, despite the busy place and the number of people we were there. Everything came in a timely manner; there wasn't a long wait between the starter and the main course. We highly recommend it and will definitely go back.

We went there on a Friday for an all-you-can-eat meal. It was packed. But we didn't have to wait long. Orders were quick. The food came quickly. The service was excellent. The selection is huge. Unfortunately, this means that many people order significantly more than they can eat. The rest is left uneaten. The food was very tasty.

We were there yesterday, spontaneously, with five people, a child, and a small dog. We received a very friendly welcome. The staff was very accommodating. Every request was fulfilled. We were given a different table because of the dog in the corner, water for him, small drinks, etc. Tzatziki as a starter, delicious side salads, and incredibly beautifully presented plates. The food was more than plentiful. Absolutely top value for money! We all had to have something packed. It was wonderfully seasoned and deliciously spicy. We were given ouzo for everyone beforehand and with the meal, on the house. I highly recommend the restaurant! We would gladly come back anytime. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The portion size was far too large—even for a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish half the plate. The bifteki was just as large on the grill plate as it was on the individual bifteki. The price was also almost the same. The restaurant could definitely do a better job of pricing. Otherwise, friendly service, typical good taste. The salad buffet with its delicious cheese is particularly noteworthy.

After ordering for pickup, we finally arrived at the restaurant. And the impression we had upon pickup was confirmed once we arrived. Huge portions and very tasty. The meat is truly delicious. The staff was very attentive. We were greeted with a glass of ouzo, which seems to be very important to some reviewers. It's not fine dining, but if you like Greek food and meat, this is the place for you.

A "classic Greek" restaurant with a menu tailored to German tastes. Mountains of meat with standard names like "Hermesplatte" or "Athenteller" with rice and fries, familiar from a thousand other "Greek" restaurants. The service is sometimes a bit silly and disorganized, but always friendly. If something gets messed up, at least you get a massive culpa and a glass of ouzo. The food is Greek mid-range fare. So, tasty, but not a culinary highlight. Since the pandemic, you can also sit outside on the sidewalk while the traffic whizzes by. Well, it's nicer inside, in my opinion. Overall, it's quite okay if you don't mind the idiot service. So, you can eat here quite well and get what you'd expect from Greek restaurants in Germany. (As long as you get what you ordered...)

We booked a table for two at 6:00 p.m. So far, everything was great; our order was taken at 6:05 p.m. After dinner, we wanted to go to the open-air theater for a performance. We got our drinks at 6:45 p.m. Unfortunately, there was no ouzo to welcome us. Our food arrived at 7:15 p.m., which was unfortunately incorrect; a skewer was missing. I asked the waitress about this and she sent someone who had taken the food and told me to wait. My wife's food was fine. Then the waiter came after 5 minutes and said, "The skewer will be here soon." The food was delicious 😋, the Metaxa sauce was fantastic. We were full, but the waiter couldn't take the plates from the table himself; we had to hand them to him. There was no ouzo after the meal either, as has often been described here. Unfortunately, I will never find out how the skewer tasted ☹️. We then had to pay at the counter for the more expensive food we didn't get. I recommend this restaurant to everyone when it's empty, but not during events. Otherwise, it only gets bad reviews.

A very friendly welcome. However, we had to wait an hour for our food with four people. Other guests who arrived long after us already had their food. Only when we asked did things start moving. It's almost impossible to have a conversation with another 10 people in the room because it's so thinly soundproof. The staff are barely audible. The food was okay, not quite good, but okay. Overall rating: my first and last visit. 🤷

First, the positives. The staff are really very friendly and accommodating. I like the salad bar option. Unfortunately, that's about it for the positives. We both had gyros. The meat was very thickly sliced and barely crispy. It also wasn't really seasoned. It was only lightly seasoned with a few herbs, which I don't think is a typical gyro seasoning. The fries, on the other hand, were too salty. The rice was dry and didn't really taste like much. Price-wise, it was relatively expensive at just under €17 per person. A real shame.

Favorite restaurant in Eutin, returning here for the fourth year in a row on vacation. Very, very delicious dishes, huge quantities that you can't finish. The staff packs up leftovers so you can eat them for two days. Very friendly service, food came quickly. Nice salad buffet beforehand. Highly recommended.

Ellas, a traditional Greek restaurant, is located in the long curve at the entrance to Eutin's town center. We were warmly greeted with a house schnapps, the waitresses were quick, and the food was on the table in no time. The gyro was very tasty, and the portion size was decent. All in all, it was a great visit – we'll be back 👍🏼

Absolutely not recommended!!! The salad bar isn't refilled, even though the mixed salad has been empty for a while. The food comes before the drinks! The women's restroom is very dirty and there's no toilet paper! Two of the men's restrooms are broken! The spaghetti Bolognese is too spicy (for children), and everything is spilled when served! Instead of bread with the salad, they served fries because they ran out of bread! 5 of the 6 plates were damaged (risk of injury)! My daughter's salad was bitter! Inattentive staff! When we complained about the food, there was no response, no replacement, or offer of improvement! Not even an ouzo! Absolute disaster!!!!

This was our first time here. The gyros were juicy, the calamari was delicious, and the fries were amazing. There's also a salad bar where you can put together your own salad. Very friendly and fast service.

We were there in the evening and were able to sit outside in the nice weather. The staff was so friendly and very attentive. I had a regular gyro, my wife a turkey steak with pan-fried vegetables. Grilled pepperoni was the starter. Everything was delicious, and there was quite a lot on the plate. We'd love to come back.

The food was delicious, everything freshly prepared and perfectly seasoned. The appetizers were really good, especially the tzatziki, which was seasoned just right. The gyro was also juicy and not at all dry – just as it should be. The zucchini casserole was the highlight for me: tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Not a trace of bitterness – on the contrary, truly delicious! The service was also very friendly and attentive. We felt comfortable the whole time, the food arrived quickly, and the staff was well-organized. The restrooms were clean, the atmosphere comfortable – everything was top-notch! I don't know what went wrong for some people, but everything was great for us. We would definitely love to come back!

First of all: For several years, it's been our habit to visit this restaurant during our vacation. Yesterday, it happened again, and we were unfortunately disappointed. While everything was fine with the appetizer platter (except for the classic tzatziki – much too spicy), and extra bread wasn't a problem, there were a few things to complain about with the main courses: the liver was partly undercooked, partly oversalted, the gyros were quite dry, and the biggest faux pas: the zucchini in the casserole was bitter! As a chef, you should be aware that this can lead to serious poisoning. When asked about this issue, the answer was: 30 years as a chef (German nationality – just a side note), never heard of it, it happens sometimes, no big deal. Irresponsible. The service was unfortunately very inattentive and disorganized, and the restrooms were dirty. Not a single apology or discount for the inconvenience, not a free drink, or anything. The next time we're hungry for Greek delicacies, we'll probably choose a different place.

We ate there yesterday. The four other people were very satisfied with their dishes. Only the tzatziki was a bit spicy. I had a dish with zucchini, which tasted bitter. The chef came to the table and explained that zucchini can taste bitter or sometimes sweet. He had never heard of bitter-tasting zucchini being poisonous. In 30 years as a chef, he had never heard of such a thing. Unfortunately, I've been sitting in the bathroom for hours with gastrointestinal problems... conclusion: good meat, I'm not going there anymore.

This was our second time at Ella's and we definitely won't be back. There were nine people there and we had to wait a full 1.5 hours for our food until I went to the staff and complained. The quality also left something to be desired. If you wanted something to drink, you always had to go to the counter and ask for someone to come over and take your order. I can get much better results elsewhere.

We also happened upon Ellas today by chance. We were very impressed with the food. The gyros were very tender, and the rest of the food was also very tasty and the portions were generous. It was definitely to our liking. If we ever end up in Eutin again, we'll definitely stop here again. 🙂👍🙂 🤘😎🤘

I visited the restaurant for the first time on July 15, 2025, ordered a tuna salad and a non-alcoholic wheat beer, and can only say that the salad was first-class, served with toasted baguette, and the service was very friendly. Another visit is definitely worth it.

We spontaneously stopped by Ellas today, and unfortunately, it was a mixed experience. The service was friendly, but not very attentive. Even though we were sitting in the restaurant with children, we had to wait about an hour for our food after ordering. Other tables that ordered later were served much faster. Always annoying when you have hungry children. The food was OK, but not particularly good. The gyro was partly burnt black and resembled chips, while my wife's vegetarian noodles were rather bland. Maybe again sometime, but not soon.

Yesterday, four of us spontaneously went there to eat, for me the first time. The atmosphere is nice, the staff are friendly and attentive. My only criticism was the food. The pork medallion was definitely not a fillet; it was tasty, but unfortunately not the fillet we were expecting. The Metaxa sauce was as thin as soup; I've definitely had better from other restaurants. And the Coke I ordered was unfortunately not the original, but a really cheap version; from where I was sitting, I could see behind the counter.

The first impression was very good. Drinks were served in large glasses without asking, but there was so much food that quite a bit had to be sent back. An extra Metaxa sauce, at €6.50, is extremely expensive. The taste was quite good.

A typical Greek restaurant with very friendly service. The portions are generous and delicious. I recommend bringing containers to take away any leftovers; they can also pack leftovers in disposable containers upon request. Weather permitting, you can sit outside in front of the restaurant under umbrellas. Unfortunately, the seating is on the sidewalk, a bit cramped. They've made an effort to make it look nice, but given the circumstances and what the city allows, that's fine. Flower pots are one way to protect it. Partitions separate the seating from the street.

The food was burnt! The starter and main course were accordingly, even the bread was bitter. But I was extremely hungry! So I had to eat whatever was brought to the table. It shouldn't have been served like that. Does it taste Greek? Everything else isn't Greek cuisine. (I'm a Greece expert and know exactly what's going on.) The menu selection is a bit too pork-heavy for me. Conclusion: I haven't been out to eat there in a year. This was my last time. I can really cook better. What a shame.
