There were eight of us at the club, and we had even made a reservation. The first annoyance came right upon arrival: the parking lot was full – either park outside or pay €10 for the "VIP parking." Not exactly a great start. At the entrance, we received a very rude welcome. We had to pay €45 per person for entry without any explanation – not a word about how the concept worked, whether we could just sit anywhere, etc. We ended up sitting at a table by the window, which had a bench (like a sofa) on one side. After about 15 minutes, someone finally came with the menu, and we were able to order drinks. When our remaining six friends arrived, we were suddenly told that we had to pay an extra €5 for this table, simply because it was against the wall – even though there were only four people sitting there. The guests at the next table, by the way, didn't have to pay this "fee." Absolutely outrageous and unfair. The older waitress with the blonde hair was extremely unfriendly and practically ripped us off. Vodka was ordered several times, but the drinks arrived incomplete or not at all. Instead, a whole plate of lemons suddenly appeared, which no one had ordered – and of course, it was later added to the bill. The food was okay, but definitely not worth €45, especially given the unfriendly service. It's a real shame, because the music and the crowd were really good – but the staff's behavior and the overall business practices completely ruined the atmosphere. In short: Unfriendly service, overpriced, chaotically organized – unfortunately, not recommended.

Very disappointing – absolutely not recommended We were hoping to have a nice evening with friends at Dr. Schiwago in Duisburg, but unfortunately, it turned out to be the complete opposite. We were greeted at reception by the most unfriendly woman imaginable – rude, cheeky, and utterly disrespectful. We had reserved a table and were then informed that we would have to pay an entrance fee of €40 per person because we had chosen the buffet. My husband tried to pay immediately, but the card didn't work – instead of responding politely, he was ridiculed and publicly humiliated in front of other guests, as if he "had no money." Such behavior is simply disrespectful. We are all self-employed and run our own businesses – none of us would ever treat our customers like that. Especially when guests are traveling from afar, one should remain polite and professional. What bothered us even more: Almost exclusively Russian is spoken there, apparently to show who "belongs" and who doesn't. Anyone who doesn't speak Russian gets strange looks – that's completely unprofessional. ... The doorman was also unfriendly and anything but helpful. Security is supposed to ensure safety, not arrogantly scrutinize customers. We had already had an unpleasant encounter with the receptionist earlier, who had been gossiping about someone in our group in Russian – unaware that we understood her. The worst part: We had a table with a couch – and suddenly we were supposed to pay an extra €5 per person for it. The money wasn't the problem, but the way we were spoken to – condescending and disrespectful. Even when we checked our coats, we were met with rudeness instead of being treated politely. We spent a considerable amount of money that evening (several bottles and drinks) – almost €500-€600 in total. Looking at the receipt, we noticed that some items had been charged twice. When we complained, the security guard reacted unprofessionally and tried to start an argument. Honestly, this is no way to treat guests. This tactic of overcharging guests later when they're drunk is simply outrageous. We weren't drunk and saw everything clearly. It's actually a nice, reputable place – but with a team that completely ruins it. Arrogant, disrespectful, and anything but welcoming. Running a club in Germany and then treating guests of other nationalities with such condescension is simply sad. Perhaps you should think about how you treat people – otherwise, word of mouth will soon ensure that many customers stay away. :-)

The place itself is really nice, but the clientele is a complete disaster. You get hit on and groped from all sides, even though you're there with your partner. Security does absolutely nothing. There are people there who all know each other and walk around like they own the place. Sorry, never again.

Most horrible experience ever!🙅 The food and music were okay but the staff... especially the security!🤬 My brother was drunk and felt sick, so we paid an extra €50 "fine" for that. The security guard came in really cheekily and really beat my brother up, his eyebrow burst, his nose bloody...🥺 The man who is supposed to be there to keep order and ensure SECURITY was the exact man who was the AGGRESSOR!!! We called the police, but until they arrived the administration hid the security guard. The others came out to see the police. The ones who threatened us before. Considering that this evening cost us €600 for 4 people, that was a total 👎👎👎 no go!!!

The place is average, nothing special. And they love deleting negative reviews! Apparently, they think they'll improve by doing so. You're sorely mistaken, trying to learn from this and change things for the better! Be careful what you order from large groups!

If you're looking for a reminder of what 90s-style service was like, welcome to Zhivago. I'd forgotten such rude, insolent, and dismissive treatment of guests was possible. The karaoke room left a particularly unpleasant impression. An employee named Violetta blatantly ignored guests' requests, favoring men who were paying attention to her. In our case, she simply handed the microphones for our song (reserved over an hour earlier and already in turn) to a man and his girlfriends, who, in front of me, tried to persuade her to let them sing our song without waiting in line, for old times' sake. The dance floor is extremely small—no more than 50 people, out of a full capacity of about 300 guests—making it impossible to dance. The only positive is the food: the dishes are truly delicious and varied. And the bartender is very nice and attentive.

The buffet was plentiful and good. Service was friendly and quick. Only the music got louder and louder, and the room was packed to capacity with tables and chairs. This made the dance floor small and overcrowded.

The food and the selection of dishes were okay, but the taste wasn't sensational, and at €45 per person, it was far too expensive. You have to be able to eat a lot for it to be worth it. The price is also normal.. drinks, yes a little expensive for a restaurant.. well within reason :-). I would like to say thank you to everyone who organizes this event, it's a lot of work. We were there this Saturday. The food was high-quality and delicious. I just wish there were more options for dessert. The service was also great. But please, never again that DJ from Saturday!!!!!!!! A disaster. I went back to the hotel with such a headache. And he ruined the atmosphere, even for my tipsy friends. Every song was mixed into house music, even original house songs were mixed into house music again. The guy was only thinking about you and thought the audience would love his music. Pleeeease play original Russian music and mixed music, whether English or Latino!!!!!!! But this DJ doesn't earn any money; I need compensation. It ruined our evening, and I think if he played more often, fewer people would come. It was also very empty this Saturday.

The tables were far too close together, making you feel like you were sitting on your neighbor's lap. The drink prices are outrageous; a bottle of Coke costs €12. I've never experienced anything like it. Simply not recommended.

Today we visited this wonderful place. I want to say that it has a great atmosphere, incredibly delicious food. You can sing karaoke, dance, and also enjoy the fresh air on the terrace in the garden! The crowd is decent, everyone looks respectable, and the place itself also makes a respectable impression.

Unfortunately, our visit to Dr. Zhivago was a huge disappointment. Our reservation couldn't be found at first – even though we had booked and paid for VIP tables, we didn't get them in the end. The restaurant was completely overcrowded. They even set up tables on the dance floor, which was already very small. The music didn't start until much later. The buffet was partially empty, and the plates were far too small, so we had to keep walking. I found the drink prices to be overpriced. Overall, the value for money was not right for us at all. Unfortunately, this was our first and last time.

First time there. Parking in front of the building was very good. The atmosphere was okay. I just thought there wasn't enough space for a dance floor and there were too many chairs and tables in the room. Perhaps it was due to an additional wedding party. Really great! I hardly ever write reviews but I think it's appropriate here. I was there on the International Women's Day special (March 7, 2025) with a friend and two friends. I am German, the other three are of Russian descent. I read a few reviews of the store beforehand to get an idea of ​​what to expect. We parked in the large parking lot and were picked up by a driver. The ambience of the store is really nice and there is a really large, extensive buffet that really has something for everyone. The food is beyond any doubt. Absolutely top!! The service is good and makes a well-established impression. It didn't take too long until our drinks arrived. The waitress was classic "Russian-friendly". We're not in the USA where the waiter greets you with a big grin, asks how the day was, etc. The service was good overall. The dance floor is a bit small, but the DJ deserves extra praise! Really likeable guy who responded to music requests. Overall, a special evening that was worth the €50 entrance fee. You'll end up spending a pretty penny with drinks, but I'll definitely stop by from time to time.

We're often in the restaurant but it's getting worse and worse. The food tastes good, but some variety should have been introduced long ago. Always the same. Very little is refilled. Especially when it comes to delicacies. The tables are closer and closer to each other every time. You sit on the perches like chickens. It's very difficult to get through because people are dancing in the aisles because the dance floors are overcrowded. Very bad air in there. The music gets worse and worse. In addition, entrance fees are charged at the box office as you see fit. Singers in the middle of singing are paid €25 for some and even €60 for others, even though the entrance fee is only €55. The waiters are very unprofessional. The mixed drinks were also a disaster. For this money the store would have to be sorted out and given a little more structure.

A great place for a pleasant evening with dancing. Incredibly large selection of cold and hot snacks. A buffet of 45€ is paid at the entrance. Then a wardrobe of 2€ There are 2 halls, a large common one where after 22:00 there is a disco and a karaoke room. Sometimes people don't sing very well there and you have to listen to it. The waiters work very well, the drinks are tasty, but for example, gin tonic is served in small glasses, and the price is the same as regular one. There is an amazing terrace where you can go out for a smoke break; in winter there were many heaters on it + blankets, which made it possible not to freeze. There were a lot of people on Saturday and all the tables were occupied. Apparently a popular place among all ages.

The Dr. Zhivago sets new standards for all restaurants in the Ruhr area. The ambience is incredibly chic and the audience is in no way inferior. Best dressed men, beautiful women, just as classy as the restaurant itself. The service staff always keep an eye on the guests and ensure their well-being. The vodka never runs out and replenishments of white wine are also delivered on time and all with a smile on their faces. They don't shy away from singing along and congratulating on their birthday when the cake arrives; all in all, you feel very familiar. The food is varied and extensive and leaves nothing to be desired. Whether classic or newly interpreted, there is something for everyone. The photographer is there for everyone to have fun and the DJ always ensures the best mood. Here’s to many more years at Dr. Zhivago, memorable parties and unforgettable evenings! Here’s to 2025!!

My impression was anything but great. I didn't reserve a seat, maybe that was my mistake, which created the incomprehensible situation. When I spoke to the cashier about this, she started screaming – yes, screaming – for the usher, as only she might have a solution. For me it was extremely unpleasant and highly unprofessional. After consulting with the usher, we agreed, since the restaurant was full, that we would sit on the terrace first, as it was heated and warm. I then simply paid €45 per person for the buffet to get out of the checkout. The terrace was heated but not warm, so we decided to leave. After trying to make excuses, the reversal still worked and we were able to leave the restaurant. The ambience is definitely successful, except for the distribution of space, where you almost sit on top of each other. The food looked very good. You should send employees to customer service training, especially for the amount they charge you. The website should be revised. At least it should say that reservations are essential and the prices must also be mentioned.

The restaurant can safely be renamed Dr. Greed. The concept is very good and viable, but the greed of the owner gives rise to many problems that they are trying to solve but do not get to the root. The dance floor should be a dance floor, but half of it is filled with tables, which entails all the subsequent problems: lack of parking spaces, queues for the toilets, kitchen that cannot cope with the number of visitors, terrible crowding in the hall, etc. Otherwise, everything except the hefty price tag for alcohol (this also correlates well with the proposed name) is according to expectations: the atmosphere is post-Soviet, the cuisine is like a New Year’s table. The cuisine is quite decent, the barbecue is generally excellent, the sweet table is also good. The atmosphere is cheerful, also post-soviet, even the dark-skinned people in leather jackets wear roses around the hall and sell them 😀. It’s very good that there is a separate karaoke room.

This place is a complete rip off. Don't recommend anyone to go here. We ate there with a larger group, 50€ for a buffet where there was a selection of 10 salads, which you then put up twice to give you the illusion of variety, 6 lukewarm hot dishes where you spend half the time biting on cartilage. 8-10€ for a PET Cola bottle that you can get in the supermarket for 1€ is also very cheeky. Drinks that were not ordered were added to the bill. The deposit of €100 was not deducted either. This sad place is all about profit, as a guest you are treated like dirt. We were there on March 8th for International Women's Day - it was extremely full, you could hardly walk through the narrow aisles because the guests were already dancing at the tables as there was no space on the dance floor. The food was and is delicious, but you have to wait in line for a very long time. At €55 per person just for the food, it's a shame! The bad thing is that you can now only reserve a table if you pay in advance. Two of us had to cancel for the evening (on time), and four weeks later the money has still not been refunded despite repeated requests. This is simply outrageous! That was definitely our last time in this restaurant

We were there on March 9th. there. It's simple Russian cuisine that's simply overpriced. 60€ per person just for eating, where you had to wait in line for an hour or more, that's not possible. Salads and warm food could have been separated better, because anyone who wanted to eat hot food had to wait in line for salads. Drinks were so overpriced, the cocktails were way too sweet, the gin and tonic was poorly mixed. For tea 4-5€ very steep. The waiters had no idea about anything, no matter what you asked. The best thing was, we had booked a table for 15 people and had to sit apart because they hadn't planned it properly. We left a total of €2340 and many of us went home disappointed and we won't be coming back.

It's a shame that people are now only interested in profit! There were too many guests for this area, that's no longer normal! Drinks were overpriced and the DJ and the program on March 9th were also for the Ar. People used to enjoy going there, now we will go to other restaurants!

The food was good, but the line was very long, possibly because it was March 9th. The ladies who did the service were great and everything was very quick. Drinks very expensive. We wanted to go for dessert at different moments and everything was almost always empty. The DJ was good but the private singer on March 9th, 2024 was not recommended at all, it was way too loud and every song he sang was unrecognizable. Just really bad. The terrace is great and also very large with lots of heaters. But given that it was International Women's Day and there was such a poor program, it was simply overpriced at €60. Nothing works with drinks under €80

Food is delicious if you're lucky enough to get it. You also had to queue for an hour for that. When it was finally our turn, almost all the plates were empty. Both salads and warm dishes. Nothing was refilled anymore. Doesn't work at all. Tables are so close together that you couldn't even walk through them. Way too crowded. This is all about profit. Dance floor crowded. You had to dance in the hallway and people were constantly running over you. Terrible. We were there a year and a half ago and again yesterday. We were very disappointed. Went out hungry. That was the last time we went there. I won't even mention the witch at the checkout. The way she talks to people is so rude. Unfortunately it is no longer as noble as it was in the beginning!!!! Clear failure!

The location is really beautiful! Outside with the terrace in the summer is definitely a dream, but also very pleasant in the cold season, as there are patio heaters everywhere and a roof. The food was okay, but you had to wait in line for ages, like in the 90s if you wanted to buy sausage in the Soviet Union. The two of you left a whopping €200 that evening and you had to fight your way everywhere because the store was so full that you could hardly get through. Some guests came across as if they were ready for a riot and really wanted to get into trouble. I didn't like the music at all... руки верх from the 90s... really? Does it still have to be today? Many people celebrate this... but there is also really good music today, why aren't we playing something new? It's really a shame because it's a great shop... but we won't be coming back because we feel like we've been treated like a sardine in a can.

Dear Zhivago tour, we were here for the second time today. Were here for the first time in December 2022, we liked it so much better then!!! Today we stood in line for an hour to get something to eat! Standing in line for an hour, how can something like that be??? Some of the containers and food plates were empty. Schaslik was very tasty, but quickly drained! In my opinion, you should eat as little as possible here, but drink as much as possible and at outrageous prices too! I think if it weren't for gravity, you would put more tables and chairs over your head to make even more money. That's a disgrace, 10cm to the neighboring table where is the privacy here??? The aisles between the chairs and tables are so narrow that people touch you every time you walk past because there is simply no other way not to fall given the space!!! The best thing is the 3m x 3m small dance floor! Maybe put a few more tables there, more people = more money. Parking spaces are also in short supply given the huge herd of people! The shuttle from the nearby hotel parking lot to Zhivago was positive. That was the last time here, there is a much, much better real restaurant nearby!!! Better go to the boys from Lezginka!! Zhivago is no longer the same as it was a few years ago!

50 euros entry? Seriously? The food is becoming less and less, the price is getting more expensive… and you can’t even park in the parking lot, even though there are spaces available…. These are probably kept free for Arab guests who constantly bribe the people here…

Die Preise total überteuert. Auch Getränke. Geschmacklich hat sich das Essen verschlechtert. Vom Nachtisch hab ich nun zum zweiten Mal NICHTS mitbekommen, es ist sofort alles weg und wird nicht nachgelegt. Die Sitzplätze sind UNGLAUBLICH eng. Auch die Gänge. Die bekommen Geld für jeden Sitzplatz,darum ist da alles voll mit Tischen, auch wenn die Tanzfläche immer kleiner wird. Die Bedienung ist super freundlich! Die Mädchen sind mir zum zweiten Mal sehr positiv aufgefallen!!! DJ ist unfreundlich. Und die Musik hätte besser sein können.. Das Restaurant ist sehr STARK auf Profit ausgerichtet. Jeder **** kostet Geld.... Schöner wäre es,wenn man fürs Buffet getrennt zahlen könnte. Dann wäre es besser. Ansonsten möchte ich da nicht mehr hin und habe es im Freundeskreis nicht weiter empfohlen!

Essen ist noch genauso gut wie beim ersten Besuch 2018. Service war gut trotz komplett ausgebuchter Location. Ambiente ist gut jedoch zu voll und Tanzfläche verkleinert für mehr Tische.

Macht immer wieder Spaß! Tolles Konzept, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Uns hat alles gut gefallen, was uns etwas gestört hatte waren die eng beieinander stehenden Tische. Das Essen und die Musik waren gut. Was uns besonders gefallen hat, war der Zauberer, hat für Unterhaltung gesorgt.

Kann man nur jedem empfehlen! Super

Das Personal ist hervorragend, sehr zuvorkommend und super nett! Essen technisch viel Auswahl und auch richtig lecker, kann ich nur empfehlen. Sind ab jetzt Stammkunden! :)

И к сожалению максимум две звезды. хочу обратить внимание тем кто в больших компаниях отдыхает обратите внимание что заказывайте. Bо вторых, какой-то цыганенок бегаeт между столами, где и так места нету и торгует цветами, ощущаешь себя на центральном рынке!забегаловка далеко не дешёвая! Так что максимум один раз ходить больше чем достаточно!

Были проездом в германии. Посетили ресторан 06 января, все было на очень хорошем уровне, нам очень понравилось. Но что точно не оставило нас равнодушными, так это их фокусник Азим, я конечно видела фокусы, но в его руках это выглядело как настоящее волшебство. К лету думаем приедем еще, обязательно заглянем в ресторан.

Teilweise nur 10 cm zum Nachbartisch. - Schlechte Parkplatz Situation. - Insgesamt zu viele Gäste für die Größe. Unterm Strich ist die Konkurrenz Lez... deutlich besser.

Zu kleine Teller und falsch kalkuliertes Buffet. Wenn nicht alle Leute eine Mahlzeit bekommen dann stimmt was bei der Menge vom Buffet nicht.

Schönes Lokal. Gute Atmosphäre.
