Discovered by chance and didn't regret it! The service was very nice and really quick. The food was great and plentiful. There is actually something for everyone. Unfortunately there were no desserts left because the main course was so rich. Maybe next time. Prices are ok. Overall everything was very clean and originally decorated.

Was totally mediocre. The wings were probably frozen, with drumsticks that had strange pieces of bone that you always bit on. Fries were okay, but nothing special, the coleslaw was soaked in mayo and not as usual. All in all, I can't understand the extremely positive comments, absolutely mediocre and far too overpriced.

We were a little disappointed today. The service was great, no question. But value for money for the food was disappointing. The chicken breast fillet on my burger was thick, so thick that the pineapple was completely missing and the remaining topping consisted of two pieces of iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. The side dish came with 5 fries (my partner had about 7) and the mini portion of coleslaw. When we were served we were told straight away that there would be more fries as there were very few - but nothing came. Unfortunately. Running after food isn't really my thing either. By the way, we weren't there at rush hour (before 4 p.m.) and the restaurant was therefore not very busy (almost empty), which would have been manageable.

I was there again after years because I no longer live nearby. It was still as good as it was back then. The cocktails were delicious and had just the right amount of alcohol. You could taste it, but it wasn't too much. The burgers were juicy and tasty. The service was attentive and quick. Overall it was a nice evening.

The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the staff quick and friendly. The rump steak was of the highest quality and very tasty. However, a slightly more creative garnish that highlights the level of excellent meat could further enhance the presentation of the dish. Overall, it was a thoroughly successful experience in which the attention to detail was reflected in the atmosphere and service. However, a refinement in the visual design of the dishes would give the culinary experience an additional, luxurious touch.

We went here to eat a delicious burger or steak...Unfortunately we were completely disappointed. It is a bar and in no way a restaurant or steakhouse as it says on the website... You can't eat your burger there in peace and it also tasted very bad. A burger with fries cost €26 and you can get a better and much cheaper one almost anywhere! Football is loudly watched there and there is a smoking area in the restaurant. The speakers from the television were also directly above our heads and it almost gave us tinnitus... The entire restaurant and the food smelled of smoke, of course. Disgusting… The female waiters were not dressed professionally at all, which made the restaurant or bar look very, very, very cheap. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this “restaurant” to you… Better save your money and go somewhere else.

Actually always happy. However, the last time the burger was very dry. Schnitzel was good though. Coleslaw on a burger doesn't work with dill. Why do you do that?

I've eaten a lot of burgers, but charging €19.99 for a normal cheeseburger is abysmal. Well, I knew the prices and still wanted to give it a chance. The location is quite nice, only our table outside was on wobbly feet, so we had to help ourselves and fix it with cardboard (this shouldn't even happen). I can only say one thing about the burger: I would be willing to pay a maximum of €7, nothing more. The problem with the burger is the patty. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything here, but it could have just as easily been a frozen patty. It was extremely thin and was well cooked, nothing medium rare (impossible with that patty anyway). As everyone else has written, the fries were quite good. But unfortunately I won't come again. Lg

I've been there several times now, and I have to say, it's more of an upscale sports bar. The steaks, especially the exotic ones, are highly recommended, but they now cost €37-39. We ate burgers on our last visit, emu and kangaroo. The whole thing came with fries and sauerkraut and sauce. It was also completely ok in quantity. The burgers were around €20. What's a bit of a shame is that the meatballs on the burger don't have the same subtle flavor as the steaks do. The menu now also includes pork schnitzel and vegetarian dishes. It is also worth mentioning that there is a separate smoking lounge. Overall, a tip and recommended for something special, and then I definitely recommend the steak variants. Of course there are also cocktails and Australian beer. The staff is very considerate and nice

Have you never been down under?! I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. Maybe I picked the wrong one. I had an appetizer platter. ONLY fried ready-made stuff came, something like that should have been announced. Everything in thick, fatty breading. Nothing homemade. The fries were good, that's all. The wine was also below average. The service was very nice and attentive… Nope.

The fries were good, the salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, canned corn and beans, a tomato and a ready-made dressing. The vegetarian burger was a complete disaster. The patty mixture was cold and the spell did not experience any heat either. Very unkind for 16.90 per dish —————————————————- Addition from August 22, 2024. Similar to other critical comments about this restaurant, the operator is trying to have them deleted via Google. I was accused of slander. Which I find a real impudence. I've never experienced anything like this before. What's the point of reviewing a restaurant if the restaurant deletes all critical reviews?

This afternoon I spontaneously cycled from Karben along the Nidda to Download Under. Here you can find original Hamburger variants but also schnitzel and good beer. The service is attentive, friendly and very nice. The outside area is directly on the main street. Nevertheless, you can eat well there. A slightly denser and higher separation from the footpath/street would be pleasant. Inside it's nice and rustic. It is reminiscent of an English sports bar with a large television. But spacious. The prices are rather high. 1 person pays around 25-30 euros with a drink. But that's also something you don't do every day.

Fantastic place, good food, amazing waitresses and a fabulous atmosphere. If I were to die, it would only be here

Restaurant im Zentrum der Stadt. Das große Restaurant bietet viele Plätze, auch im Außenbereich. Dazu gibt es eine komplett abgetrennte Raucherlounge. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und man sitz nie lange "auf dem Trockenen" Das Essen ist ok aber kein Highlight. Der bestellte Burger war geschmacklich in Ordnung und auch preislich angemessen. Die Salate waren im Verhältnis zur Portionsgröße recht teuer. Durch die Lage sind Parkmöglichkeiten eingeschränkt. Am besten kommt man zu Fuß.

High prices for mediocre food. Can't understand the reviews. Ambience good and service could be improved... By the way, the operator deletes serious and serious reviews and reports them to Google. I have proof of this and it was even 3 stars (picture). Of course you can cheat your way to 4.6 stars. You can see in the picture: 3 stars, in Polish it says that it was too expensive for the quality. Ridiculous!

My wife and I had the steak. We wanted it medium, but it was almost done. This wouldn't have been so bad if the meat had taste. Unfortunately the taste just wasn't there. The meat tasted like it was frozen or a little older. The fries were good, the homemade ice teas were delicious. For the price I expected good and tasty meat. Unfortunately, that wasn't it.

You can expect to pay €25-30 per person, good burgers with different types of meat etc. Emu, kangaroo or ostrich. Spanish rap and pop music was playing in the restaurant.

Unfortunately, Down Under is no longer what it used to be...

Delicious food at reasonable prices. There are some offers, but it is not clearly stated which ones apply or whether they can be combined. Ambience is interesting, but quite dark and there is a bit of an unpleasant smell, probably because of the smoking room.

It's too small portions for very expensive prices. Service wasn't good either, even though we had reserved a seat, there was no reserved sign on the table. I will never bring guests there again, it was a deception for me.

Stylischer Laden mit open air Flair. Cheesburger mit einer Hand voll Pommes und einer miniminischale Coleslaw für 19,90....wow...ambitioniert bepreist. Burgerpaddy sah aus wie Tiefkühlware. Wiederholungsgefahr gen Null. Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam.

The ambience and seating options were good, but the food was very expensive (Sirlion Steak 220gr for €38) and, for example, the tender pork loin steak (fat Sam pork steak) with mushroom sauce was totally dry. Young, inexperienced waitresses who even poured red wine down the trousers and blouse of a lady at the table. Therefore no recommendation.

Very good food, but a little overpriced in my opinion.

The location is great, the atmosphere for football yesterday was great. Unfortunately the cuisine is not what I imagine an Australian restaurant to be. The price-performance ratio doesn't fit.

The service staff were really nice and polite. I expected more given the prices. E.g. The side dish seemed to me as if it came from a can or a jar. The toilets looked very unkempt.

We had 4 different burgers and were all very satisfied. Price was absolutely fair via Groupon, otherwise a burger with fries and coleslaw costs between €21 and €26. But you eat well, you get full and there were definitely enough fries on the plate. The drinks were also good, service was attentive and there were plenty of TVs available to watch football; ergo - we'll be back!

We just parked in the Down Under parking lot because we wanted to go out to eat there. And was “told” by the Down Under owner that this is a private parking lot from Down Under. We asked him how he knew we didn't want to eat there. He said he knew his guests. We are because of his arrogance and response. We drove away straight away. Absolutely cheeky! To judge beforehand. We always watch football there and then an answer like this comes. Apparently he doesn't know his guests that well...

I visited the restaurant with my family on a Saturday evening. The waiters are extremely courteous and friendly. The restaurant interiors are particularly unique and remind me of Australian restaurants. We ordered the emu burger with salad. The burger tasted excellent. The size of the burger meets full requirements. Would recommend the restaurant to everyone. !

Personally it's not my first choice. I don't find the drinks or the food particularly tasty, but it's ok It's nice and centrally located in Vilbel

Me and my wife’s family were at the outback restaurant about 4 years go and from then to now nothing much has changed we find the restaurant inside with the decorations looks good but the food we were disappointed in as being an Australian going to an Australian restaurant I’d expect the food to be more Australian like. The burgers were also expensive for what you get as they aren’t that big and the taste doesn’t taste so good if I’d rate the burger I’d give it a 3/10 just needs more spices and a better source as it just had no actual taste for that price. Sweet potato chips with sour cream which they have but missing the sweet & sour source Also the burgers kangaroo / think it was emu burger were not exactly that great they just tasted like normal beef paddies which is sad that you can’t notice the difference also would be good if they looked more into what Australians eat like “wedges with sour cream + sweet chilli source, veggiemite sticks or even TimTam choco dessert. The restaurant itself looks great don’t get me wrong looks better then some of the Australian restaurants themselves and the staff were polite and also great but that menu needs work especially was sad that being an Australian restaurant that it’s only in German which for me makes 0 sense as it being an Australian restaurant it would also have to be in English like the other Australian restaurants here in Germany I’m giving the restaurant a 2/5 stars as of the food wasn’t so great even we all agreed when we finished our food sorry for the bad review but just wanted to be honest

That's not really Australian. Australian specialties are on the menu and then there is Argentinian steak! Something doesn't add up.

I reserved a table there at short notice and it worked great. Very nice and courteous service. First had a small starter plate, then the kangaroo burger. Both are fine. Plus a cocktail. What was strange to me was that there was a separate room for smokers to eat there, separated by a glass panel. This should actually happen more often. Will come back as soon as I'm nearby.

I ate beef steak. The prices are very expensive and the taste of the meat is average compared to other restaurants.

The food was very expensive considering the quality. The meat of the burger was almost unseasoned. The burger was dry.

I have to admit that both the emu steak and the shish kebab with pieces of crocodile, emu and kangaroo were really very good. I prefer medium rare and got really perfect steaks. The place resembles more of a pub than a restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised by the exotic dishes I visited here. There's a bit of a lack of atmosphere, but that's a matter of taste. The service was very pleasant. The dishes were served very quickly.

We had reserved a table in advance to have something to eat and watch football. We got there on time and then we were told that everything was full and we were unlucky. No apology, no alternative was offered and we were simply left standing in the door.

All in all it's good but pricey...

On May 1st we just wanted to have something to drink and eat dessert. We got a cup of coffee where the red porcelain was badly chipped off and the saucer was badly bumped and parts had broken off. When we asked, the service said that something like that was normal there. That Eyes drink too, right? Then something like that has to be replaced. I wouldn't offer it to anyone. Asked if I wanted a new cup. Of course... The coffee was then poured into a cup and served to me. No more crema in it, just bland. So loveless.. ...I waited over 30 minutes for my pancakes....Far too long....and the staff was very rude.But there are enough customers there.We'll never eat there again.Who knows what it's like in there The kitchen or toilet looks like this. In Bad Vilbel there is much better food and also more qualified staff. Down under..... no thanks.!!!!!

They deleted my husband's post because they don't like bad reviews and Google didn't do anything. So here's the story again. Also added a photo since their last argument was we weren't there and therefore it's not valid. I went there with my partner and we both ordered kangaroo steak. What I got was good. But my partner got a tough steak that was impossible to eat, like rubber. When we told the waitress she said there was nothing she could do as she didn't want to tell the chef and he wasn't even there at the moment. So we can't even order another steak, she said anything other than the steak. Ok, I ate my food, don't want to eat any more and shared my steak with my partner. So we said we didn't want anything, we just wanted to take the steak off the bill. We ordered apple strudel and both ate it. Later the waitress said that she couldn't remove the steak but could give the apple strudel for free. Mind you, it costs €10 and a steak costs €35. We said we wouldn't pay for this one steak, but we would pay for everything else. She said she would do that, but that's not very nice. So I'll basically never go there again, the price doesn't match the service.

The waitresses are very friendly and accommodating. The food was great! The restaurant has a lot of seating and is a bit bulky. Unfortunately, this leads to a high volume level. Otherwise there's really nothing to complain about. 😌

We were there with the family. The food wasn't really bad, but in my opinion it didn't justify the price charged. The Long Island Ice Tea: well… It was probably our last visit for a long time. For the money you can get better food elsewhere.

Down Under Specialburger is a delight <3 One of the best burger joints around here. I was told that the salad should only be mediocre. But if you come here to eat salad, it's your own fault 😉 The burger(s) are highly recommended! Ambience is also good, service was always nice.

Really a great restaurant. We were served by Mrs. Fischer. She was very, very friendly and accommodating, really very pleasant. The food was great and the atmosphere was also very pleasant! We will definitely be seen there more often. :-)

Went there for the first time on Valentine's Day, called shortly beforehand and booked a table, luckily it was very full. Ambience very nice, Australia like. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Drinks and food came quickly. Very tasty food and also good portions, just finding a parking space is a bit difficult, so we parked in the Niddatal car park, which is very close. Would love to come back. Update: Were there again 2 weeks ago, can't change my first assessment, everything was great again.

Unfortunately not recommended at all, the price/performance ratio is no longer right here. Since the VAT change, all dishes have been made extremely expensive. 3/4 of the schnitzel are breadcrumbs in deep fryer fat. Hint of thin flesh. All schnitzels with ready-made sauces and canned champions, no side salad included Just a small portion of fries on the side. Small schnitzel 20€ or larger portion 26€ XXL down under corresponds to the size of a schnitzel in a normal inn. A bowl of extra sauce will be charged additionally. 2 schnitzel fries XL & 2 drinks are €70 total bill! And only the fatty breadcrumbs fill you up. We gave it back, a whole plate was full of it. A simple burger/fries from €20 and up! Unfortunately the prices are exaggerated here.

I don't particularly like Down Under. Was only there again because friends really wanted to meet there. The food is really nothing special. In my opinion the drink prices are excessive and the ambience is not nice either.

Food was good, burgers were reasonably priced, steaks were expensive for the quantity. But it's also in the heart of Bad Vilbel, which is probably where the surcharge comes from.

Will man sehr gute Burger essen oder mal ein ungewöhnlicheres Fleisch (Känguru, Emu,Krokodil) geht man ins Down Under nach Bad Vilbel. Die Speisekarte ist ansprechend, Mittags gibt es gut Rabatt und die Cocktails sind super. Der Service ist schnell, unaufdringlich aber immer present, wenn man ihn braucht. Innen sieht es aus wie im Outback - Australien in der Wetterau. Zum Känguru-Cheesburger: Gut gebraten, nicht trocken mit genug green sidetops, ergänzt mit Pommes und einem kleinen Krautsalat für unter 25€ ist auch was für den größeren Hunger. Wir waren mittags da, es ging schnell und das Essen kam heiß an den Tisch. Hinweis am Rande: es gibt eine smoker Lounge, in der man auch essen kann - Ohne Geruchsbelästigung für die im anderen Bereich. Sehr gut gelöst. Parken kann man am sinnvollsten im öffentlichen Parkhaus, welches ca 3 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt ist. Rundherum ein gelungenes Konzept. Wir kommen wieder!

Some of the food is very expensive. I'm thinking, for example, of the mozzarella sticks. Sports broadcasts, a smoking area and a large outdoor area.

Lively restaurant. I like coming to watch sports. The prices are quite steep for “American food”, but people like it and you can watch sports, which is probably expensive for restaurants. The service is mostly nice, but is also focused on sales. The toilets might need some work. I'd still like to come.

The service was very good. The food was tasty 👌🏼 Ah, but I wasn't full. There simply weren't enough side dishes on the plate. The schnitzel was large, but also ultra thin. What I think would be great if there were at least enough side dishes. Just for better understanding, I'm a 1.70 x 60kg woman, I don't really eat anyone's hair, but it wasn't enough for me. What you have to give credit to the service, when I reported at the end that I wasn't full, I was offered a chip on the house. I don't really want to talk about the price because it still makes me sick today. Way too expensive. If it's relevant to anyone, there is a smoking area where you could sit and eat too.

Regardless of the far too high prices, it's not really tasty. The burger bun is dry & the fries are unimaginative. The side salad with the burger was boring and it tasted like the classic ready-made dressing. Once and not again. The service was nice and attentive.
