Dosa and More in Berlin

Ein wirklich großartiger Besuch im Spice Village. Das Essen war durchweg köstlich und authentisch. Besonders die Dosa hat mich mit ihrer perfekt knusprigen Konsistenz und der würzigen Füllung absolut überzeugt. Auch die kleinen Details haben gestimmt. Die weichen Idli und das frittierte Gebäck auf dem silbernen Tablett waren eine tolle Ergänzung. Zum Abschluss durften die zwei süßen Bällchen in der weißen Schale natürlich nicht fehlen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Endlich wieder ein gutes Thali und dazu noch kostenlos Chai. Glücklich und satt den Laden verlassen.

Nach zehn Jahren in Berlin kann ich mit voller Überzeugung sagen, dass dies das beste indische Essen der Stadt ist. Sehr authentischer Geschmack, eine fantastische Speisekarte, unglaublich reichhaltige Aromen und eine sehr freundliche und angenehme Atmosphäre. Und das alles zu sehr fairen Preisen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Das Essen war einfach fantastisch und die Gastfreundschaft überwältigend. Das Ambiente war sauber und sicher. Ich kann dieses Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen – es ist das perfekte Restaurant für indische Küche. Ich habe nach langer Zeit endlich wieder richtig leckeres, typisch indisches Essen in ganz Europa gefunden. Ich bin absolut begeistert und zufrieden mit dem Essen und dem Service! 😍🫡🥰🫶☘️😘🙆‍♀️

Das Essen war durchweg super und der kostenlose Tee war fantastisch. Die Nudeln und Dosa waren großartig und die Süßspeisen waren wirklich lecker. 😄

Super authentische indische Küche. Die Atmosphäre ist entsprechend einem Supermarkt, hat also keinen Restaurantcharakter. Ist aber sehr passend. Das Essen ist mega. Habe selten (noch nie?) so gutes indisches Essen in Berlin bekommen.

Ich liebe diesen Ort! Normalerweise schreibe ich keine Bewertungen, aber dieser Ort ist es wirklich wert. Ich bin oft dort und vermisse das Essen in Indien überhaupt nicht. Das ist einer der besten Läden überhaupt, um indische Lebensmittel und Gemüse einzukaufen. 1. Idli und Vada habe ich mit meiner Familie gegessen. Sie waren herrlich weich und wurden mit Sambar serviert. Als Südinderin hat es mir sehr gut geschmeckt. 2. Dosa war auch super. 3. Vada Pav und Kachori – wir hatten ein richtig schönes Abendessen zusammen. 👪 Meine Favoritenliste

Bestes Streatfood! Wir hatten Dosas in veganer Variante und es sind die besten, die wir bisher in Berlin gegessen haben. Das Restaurant ist Teil eines Supermarktes, was den Streetfood-Charakter unterstreicht. Die Gerüche nach authentischen Gewürzen und die Freundlichkeit des Personals machen das Essen hier zu einem tollen Erlebnis! Auch unbedingt Dessert probieren! Auch Dabeli ist lecker, zu lecker, um es vor dem Wegschnabulieren zu fotografieren..

Wir haben hier gegessen, weil es am nächsten zum Tempel lag und wir wahnsinnig hungrig waren. Aber das Essen war wirklich schlecht, es schmeckte wie altes, abgestandenes Essen.

Ich habe dieses Restaurant heute ausprobiert und es ist das beste indische Restaurant in Berlin! Wirklich leckere, authentische Gerichte und ein toller Service. Man kann während der Wartezeit im Supermarkt einkaufen. Einfach fantastisch!

We spent ages searching for good dosas with our Indian friends – who would have thought that the best dosas in Berlin could be found in a supermarket?! The dosas are an unbelievable explosion of flavor! And the dips are just as good. Guests who know and appreciate Indian food eat here! Definitely recommended!

Went in on a cold winter day. They had puri with Undhiyu sabji and it was soo good I had goosebumps. I ordered 4 more dishes after !! Probably the most authentic Indian chats place in Berlin !

As older Berliners who aren't so fluent in English, we felt completely unwelcome there. Surely it should be possible to present a menu in German, or at least offer assistance. Since we were left sitting helplessly, we left disappointed and without eating. The "ambience" also doesn't match the published photos. Everything seems makeshift and untidy. What a shame...!!!

I tried their thali and it was really good! The food tasted fresh and nicely spiced, with a good mix of dishes on the plate. The service was friendly, and they even offered sweets on the house, which was a lovely touch. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving authentic Indian flavors in Berlin.

Excellent taste and hospitality. Atmosphere is bit different due to the fact that it’s a supermarket but that is comprise for good taste.

Spicy village was a real discovery. The shiny pearl of Tempelhof. You cannot not go, if you are in the neighborhood and hankering for a culinary experience of grand proportions. The friendliest of the friendliest. You come for the Dosa, you leave with unknown spices caressing your belly from within. Hoorah!

Unassuming restaurant at the front of a small spice store. The food is southern Indian with dosa as the main specialty. Not to be outdone the chat is also amazing. The food is wonderful and staff is friendly. Atmosphere is what you'd expect from a "hole-in-the-wall" gem, so I feel unfair grading it down but also this isn't a fancy sit down restaurant. Look at photo and judge for yourself. However if you want authentic and good tasting is a great place. The food is also very reasonably priced. Seating ranges for 2 to groups of 4.

The oldest yet the best place serving the best indian delights also a quick gonto shopping place for indian snacks and cuisines with very welcoming nature of each and every person working there.

I am not really the judge for Indian food, but being exposed to this in India and through my good-cook Indian friends, I say these taste quite authentic. Good food in a relaxed setting, with really nice people managing there. I had a dosa, and sambar and coconut chutney that came with it was really good. The only problem for me was, I would like the portion to be a little bit bigger, it was not exactly filling (1 portion of dosa). Both dosa itself and the sides to it (especially chutney) could be more. Will definitely come back again, especially to try manchurian.

I also tried the khandvi and khaman, and as a Gujarati, I can confidently vouch for their authenticity. Everything tasted just like it should! The owners were so humble and kind, which made the experience even more special. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

Today I visited Spice Village, which is both a grocery store and a restaurant, and I was really impressed! The food I ordered was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left me fully satisfied. The menu offers a wonderful variety of Indian dishes, giving you a real taste of India right here. The owner of the restaurant and grocery store was extremely friendly and welcoming. He even offered us some sweets, which was such a warm and thoughtful gesture. If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavors along with a great selection of groceries, Spice Village is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this place! The food is fantastic, and the staff is incredibly friendly and patient, explaining each dish. If you're unsure about the spicy level, they offer the option to adjust the spiciness so you can enjoy authentic Indian flavors without feeling overwhelmed.

Really good and recommended Indian restaurant. The staff was super kind and available, they let us feel very at ease….and last but not least, food was delicious!

The food was really tasty, more than that the owners are super nice and it feels like home. Dabeli is a must try. I also ordered rawa dosa and idli vada combo which was a delight for the tongue. I was also given a complementary gulab jamun which was the best part of all. I will definitely come here again to try the other menu as well. The best place for south indian food and pocket friendly.

Street food on a few tables in an Indian supermarket. Closed after 8 p.m. You feel more like you are traveling than in Tempelhof. Chef was very warm, the food was delicious, very authentic, spicy but not too spicy. Inexpensive!

I've been coming here since I moved to Berlin for Indian groceries. Once I tried the food and I've been coming back once a month. It's really the most authentic Indian food I've been able to find in Berlin. And the owner are the most friendly people.

The best place to enjoy Indian snacks is a local eatery, and you definitely shouldn't miss trying a full Indian thali.

I had tried the dosas. I thought it tasted good. However, it is not a great culinary art. In terms of quantity, it's more of a snack. In addition, the ambience is not that nice. In the end it's only 3 stars because the price is too high for the overall package.

Edit: I have not received my refund yet. I don’t usually write reviews, but I was really disappointed with the food yesterday. We ordered Kadhai Paneer and Tandoori Roti from Uber Eats, but the Tandoori Roti was stale, reheated with oil, and tasted awful. On top of that, we received an uncooked paratha. To make things worse, they sent Butter Paneer instead of Kadhai Paneer. Really disappointing experience.

This place was a 5 star for me until recently. One of my favourite dishes and the major reason for me to visit here was the medu vada which was freshly fried when you placed an order. But now, it’s not fresh anymore. They prepare in batches and store it. It’s just heated and given to you when the order is placed. As a customer who visited almost every week just for the vada, I’m disappointed. Other than that, the taste is still amazing and much better than all those big fancy restaurants

Hot fresh Vada, good idli(not hot) but soft… sambar and chutney is quite good. Best is Dabeli and pani pori…. Bread and stuffing in dablei is fantastic and the the poori in pani puri is home made like in India … must try!!

Enjoyed every food here dosa idly daveli Pani Puri and veg Manchurian all were so delicious freshly prepared from dabeli's bun to Pani Puri's Puri not the store brought but prepared in house. Must visit

The restaurant is an extension of the Indian grocery store Spice village. A lot of street food options such as Pav Bhaji, Chole Bhature Pani puri etc are available at cheap prices.

I sincerely love this place sooooo much. In the 6 weeks that I've been in Berlin I've been here on a weekly basis, despite the fact that I live in Friedrichshain. I literally wake up and crave Dosa like never before! The Cheese Dosa Masala is my go-to happy place but Ive also enjoyed the Pani Puri, Samosa Chat and new additions to the menu such as Vegetable Manchurian. The beer selection is small but it includes a couple of my favourites such as Guiness and Corona. The nigerian Guiness is so strong itll send you reeling if youre not careful. On a hot day I like to sit at a table outside playing cards and enjoying the funky play list. The staff are so welcoming. I will be back!!!
