Top quality, large selection, nice ambience and very good service

1. The food wasn't brought to the person present until everyone else had finished long ago. 2. There were flies everywhere, and the light was a bit painful for the eyes. 3. The food was good, not above average, but moderately decent for the price. 4. When we were finished and one person wanted to pack their food, three waiters said "right away." In the end, one of them took it (to be packed), and the food never came back.

We recently visited the Dornröschen restaurant in Lichtenfels and were thrilled! The food was not only delicious but also lovingly prepared. We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the wonderful ambiance – the atmosphere invites you to linger and makes the visit a special experience. The service was friendly and attentive. An all-round successful evening! We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Dornröschen restaurant was truly disappointing. We entered the evening with high expectations, anticipating a generally positive experience based on the many positive reviews and the high prices. The wait staff gave the impression of being mostly made up of part-time workers, which in itself wouldn't be a bad thing, but their hectic and clueless attitude made it very negative. Furthermore, we weren't greeted with a "Hello" upon entering, but simply with "Do you have a reservation?" The service continued to be rather disappointing. While not unfriendly, it seemed disorganized, hectic, and impersonal. There was a lack of a service concept. The food also didn't match the high price. It was okay, but nothing more. Many dishes were simply served with fries, which unfortunately looked like frozen fries and thus didn't live up to our expectations of the Dornröschen. The menu was just a laminated sheet of paper, and the tables were decorated with unsightly plastic roses and an unlit kerosene candle. At these prices, I expect exactly these details, which were unfortunately missing here. We ultimately paid around €65 for two people (without starter and dessert) and unfortunately went home very disappointed. That shouldn't be the case, especially if you want to treat yourself to something nice. We advise against a visit. It's a real shame.

We had dinner at the Dornröschen restaurant during our vacation. We were delighted by the entire ambiance, the atmosphere, and the menu. The service and staff were very attentive. We would gladly return.

We were there for the first time yesterday. Service by two young men was absolutely outstanding – friendly, fast, and competent! And what I find very important: they always checked to see if we needed any more drinks. The food was very quick! We had a grilled platter, burgers, and fish – everything, including the side dishes, cooked to perfection/very good and served quickly! Desserts, as recommended by the waitress, were also excellent. The ambiance and design of the restaurant, and especially the outdoor area, were absolutely top-notch! And the equally excellent Vierzehnheiligener Trunk beer. 🍻👍 The prices are absolutely reasonable, too. Overall, it's hard to beat, and we'll definitely be back! Deserves 5 stars!

A beautiful ambiance with an outstanding outdoor area. The service was on point with very attentive staff. The chef in the kitchen knows his craft. All in all, very, very good!

My wife and I had dinner at the restaurant, which was very busy 👍. Now I know why. The atmosphere was truly wonderful. The service was also excellent. The menu was very appealing. After an appetizer, my wife chose the fish dishes. She was very satisfied. I had the meat skewer with fries. The fries were super tasty and crispy👍. The meat on the skewer was just as you would expect. The mushroom sauce was very good but unfortunately cold, not even lukewarm. That shouldn't happen. Furthermore, preheated plates, especially on the wonderful terrace, would have counteracted this. We want to try the other dishes as well. We still want to recommend it. The restaurant has class!!!! You're happy to pay a little more for it. Highly recommended for celebrations!!!

We visited Dornröschen for the first time for our 10th anniversary (we could also pre-book/note it in the reservation). When we arrived, the atmosphere was very strange. All we could hear was the refrigerator whirring loudly, and the occasional ringtone or a text message from the owner. We were served promptly and friendly. However, there was no special treat/attention for our special day (again, I wonder why they can state this?/ask for it?). The menu consisted of a laminated sheet, which I don't think is appropriate for a fancy restaurant. The food didn't live up to my expectations: I ordered a "Caesar salad with creamy dressing" - but I got a mixed salad with chicken strips and a maximum (!) teaspoon of watery dressing. Since when do you have pickled peppers, coleslaw, and pickled carrots in a Caesar salad? They didn't even use romaine lettuce. For me, that was simply misleading and disappointing. Even after dinner, there was no reason to assume our anniversary would still be celebrated (e.g., with a glass of champagne or at least a beautiful candle on the table...etc.) Good. When we wanted to pay, all the waiters were busy talking about the week's plans (the only noise in the room, besides the loud refrigerator), and when someone finally came, they explained to us that it was important (...as a guest, you just have to wait). One more small comment: for a restaurant with "Rose" in its name, I didn't think it was appropriate to have cheap plastic flowers on the tables—but that's a matter of taste. All in all, a rather oppressive stay, which the food doesn't necessarily make up for. We won't be back.

We were here for the first time yesterday. The ambiance is incredibly beautiful and cozy, the service incredibly courteous and attentive, and the food incredibly delicious. We'll definitely be back.

We celebrated my daughter's confirmation with a total of 37 people at the Dornröschen restaurant. The food was very good, but there were several aspects of the service that weren't quite right and didn't meet our expectations for such a restaurant. We wanted to discuss these issues with the owner after the celebration. Ms. Weiss didn't address our criticisms at all and came across as very arrogant and dismissive during the conversation. All of our politely raised concerns were rudely dismissed with flimsy excuses and justifications. Since no understanding was apparent, we cannot recommend the restaurant for larger celebrations. We will hold our family celebrations at other restaurants in the future.

The lunch menu was quite limited—not a problem in principle, but a warning about it beforehand would have been helpful. The food was okay, but nothing more. The service seemed rather unmotivated, which noticeably affected the atmosphere. The restaurant certainly has potential—especially the outdoor area is beautifully designed and invites you to linger. It's a shame that this potential isn't fully realized due to the underwhelming cuisine and the service, which could be improved. Overall, the visit was so underwhelming that I wouldn't return or recommend it.

Unfortunately, my visit to the "Sleeping Beauty" restaurant was marked by a few disappointments, which I find difficult to understand given the many positive online reviews. Although the ambiance is generally very nice, there were several points that marred the overall experience. The tables on the terrace, in particular, had more the charm of a home patio than that of a professional restaurant. Service with room for improvement Unfortunately, the service started a bit choppy, even with a simple request. When we asked for a different table, we received different answers from three different staff members before the third waiter was finally able to help us. As the evening progressed, the staff's attentiveness seemed to wane. We would have liked to order more drinks, but unfortunately, no one came to our table to take our orders. Poor quality of drinks and details One particularly striking aspect was the drinks. The beer we ordered was unfortunately not cold enough, which is a real shame given the current temperatures. The Spritz, which came at a rather high price, also seemed carelessly prepared and were only half-filled, which in no way reflected their value. One small detail that also caught my eye: With a schnitzel priced at over €20, ketchup was charged extra for the fries and wasn't included – rather unusual and disappointing in this price category. Solid but unspectacular food The food itself was okay, but nothing more than that. There were no real highlights or special features that would have been memorable. For the price, I would have appreciated a bit more creativity and refinement to really make the dish stand out. Conclusion In summary, my visit to "Dornröschen" unfortunately fell short of expectations. The inconsistent service and the sometimes poor quality of the drinks, in particular, significantly marred the evening. Even though the food was solid, that alone doesn't justify the sometimes high prices compared to the value offered. I hope that management will take these points as constructive criticism so that they can offer future guests a completely satisfactory experience.

Very good food and exceptionally nice ambience

We can only recommend the Dornröschen with reservations. It was exceptionally clean; we've never seen such an extremely well-maintained and clean restaurant. From the dining room, to the kitchen (which you could see into), to the restrooms... everything was absolutely spotless. The server was extremely attentive, and we were grateful that it was even open. Unfortunately, we somehow ordered the wrong dish. It was on the daily special and seemed the most practical option since we were passing through. It was a "mixed roast" consisting of a shoulder of pork, roulade, and pork. Great idea, but it had been "in the roasting pan for a very long time." You could taste that it was somehow leftover from the last few days. Of course, it's a good idea to use it up, and the price was absolutely reasonable, but it just tasted...old! I'm a very good cook myself, so I can make that assessment. In retrospect, we didn't enjoy it. Unfortunately, that's a real shame. But otherwise, we have nothing but praise for this restaurant.

This isn't a restaurant you just go to because you don't want to cook. You stop in and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are beautifully presented, expertly prepared from fresh ingredients. The value for money is therefore justifiable.

Very good food keeps up the great service

We spontaneously went to the Sleeping Beauty for dinner. I've never been there before and was very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff, the food was very tasty (even the eyes eat with it😉), and the rooms and ambience were very impressive. We will definitely come back soon!

For us, a spontaneous visit to the Dornröschen restaurant. The ambience is stylish and pleasant. The dishes were very good, including "surf and turf" with shrimp and chicken. Various dips with garlic and mango curry were great. The service was friendly and competent. We look forward to our next visit.

In my opinion there is very good quality here. We really enjoyed the dishes. The focus here was on the product in its originality - i.e. not overly seasoned. Was really very good. The portions were also generous. By the way: I glanced into the kitchen as I walked past because the door was open: clean and tidy. You don't have to hide anything here. The waiter was also very attuned to his guests... Thank you for a lovely evening with great food!

More appearance than reality. The interior resembles a ballroom from the 70s. To eat: Ordered schnitzel, got cordon bleu… The savoy cabbage as a side dish with the duck breast was already cold...the portion was quite small... Were there in the evening, boring, too quiet, not a bit of music. The food doesn't have any side salad, not even a small one, no sauce. And you could also have Cortonblue with a farmer's schnitzel with fries I don't have to have it again for 23 euros. And the opening times 😕

The service was very friendly, relaxed and accommodating and tried to accommodate our special requests. We sat in the wine cellar, it was quiet and cozy there, and the restaurant also makes a clean and modern impression! The only thing that really disappointed us was the food. The menus were very simple, almost all with just fries on the side and mostly pork. The quality of the beef fillet with side dishes and the Coburg cheese was absolutely inadequate for the price. Everything seemed like finished products and was absolutely not justified for the price. It's a shame for so much money and a nice evening that we were looking forward to!

I don't understand the many negative reviews at all. I grew up in the village and visited my parents. Went there for dinner with a friend, the food was very tasty (both are vegetarians), the atmosphere is very nice, the sound of the water has a very relaxing effect and makes every visit there something very special. I'm proud that there is something so beautiful in my "village". I would love to come back and can recommend it.

We visited the restaurant with great anticipation. The view of the facility from the parking lot was impressive and confirmed to us that we were in the right place. Guest in fine dining! But then… Service: A young man in the reception “the colleague will bring you to the table” only he was away and was looking after a table. After waiting outside for some time, the young man (hereinafter referred to as JM) came and brought us to the table. Us: aha new cards. JM: Well, I don't like them either, but do you want old ones that everyone has already had in their hands? We ???? Quite a chaotic JM, couldn't deal with the menus. We had to look for him to order dessert. After a while he came to discuss banalities at the table next door, and... then left again without clearing our table. Suddenly we saw him in the lower area as if he had been bitten by a tarantula, putting away pillows and other things? Food and Drink: Unfortunately Cinderella no longer existed? My order “The hit” Wiener Schnitzel with chanterelles and fries was indescribable, you expect something like that in a chip shop! Nothing fluffy, a dry flat breading! No trained chef could have had a hand in this, especially not at this price. Conclusion: There's more to say, but I think it's enough. Since we had guests with us, I didn't want to risk a rebellion, because under other circumstances I wouldn't have accepted such a thing. It's a shame, it's a shame, the house deserves something better!

Far from the city. The restaurant is very inviting, despite the late hour we were able to get a table at short notice, even though it was busy. The service is very appealing, the employees stop by regularly and check whether everything is OK. Although the location is far away from the city, the motorway connection is still good. I really hope that this high-quality restaurant can stay in this location. From my side it's a clear insider tip and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The last time I was there was in 2021 and now again yesterday. You really need to treat yourself there more often... Great atmosphere and ambience outside. Super nice service. More is not possible!

I've eaten here several times, but I have to honestly say that it got worse each time - both the food and the service. From the outside you think it's an upscale restaurant, but some of the food doesn't taste like anything and the portions are too small, while the prices are quite high. It has happened several times that the staff wasn't really friendly and was pretty rude, even though there was nothing going on. Drinks were forgotten and there wasn't even an apology, but the blame was placed on the colleague, even though she had done it herself. When the glasses were empty, people didn't ask if they wanted something more to drink. The plates weren't cleared away either, while you could see the waitresses twiddling their thumbs. I completely understand that when things are busy and the store is full, everything takes a little longer. But on my last few visits there was nothing going on and the waitresses came across as if they were annoyed by the customers and didn't want to work. All in all, it's disappointing that you expect something upscale here, but in the end it's only at restaurant level.

We've been there twice now and can't fault this restaurant except for the very nice outdoor area. We also can't understand the positive reviews at all. The presentation of the food fits well into the 1970s. The service is unprofessional and unprofessional. The salads are a disaster and were probably prepared from jars and buckets from the wholesaler. The asparagus was almost unpeeled. Potatoes overcooked. The salmon (with asparagus, 28 euros) came in 3 small fried pieces. It was not possible to order dessert because there was no more service. Just sad and a waste of money.

Went there for coffee for the first time today and were thrilled. We had a huge piece of black forest cake and eggnog cake, which was super cheeky. I assume that it is homemade. Price performance is completely fine for us. The very, very nice service must be particularly mentioned. Something like that doesn't happen that often anymore. Very attentive. And the ambience is something very special. We will definitely come back to eat soon.

The bowl, mostly lettuce from a can and the dressing forgotten, spaetzle was hard/dried out so that even a 7 year old noticed it.... Food was returned, the second attempt also failed... whether in the champion sauce I can't say with certainty that fresh or canned champions were used...my conclusion...more appearance than reality and without us.

Ich hatte das Geburtstagsessen von meinen Mädels. Der Ort wurde gewählt, weil ich da schon immer mal hin wollte. Ich bin begeistert. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auf Sonderwünsche wurde eingegangen. Das Essen schmeckte vorzüglich. ...und ein super schönes Ambiente. Ich werde auf jeden Fall im Sommer wieder kommen und den schönen Garten genießen. Es war alles in allem ein gelungener Abend.

Meiner Meinung nach ist das Ambiente echt sehr schön, da kann man nicht meckern. Ein schöner Blickfang mit Wasserfall, Sandkasten für die Kids und die Außenanlagen sind sehr schick gemacht. Der Service ist weitestgehend höflich und zuvorkommend. Leider war das Essen nicht so gut. Bei der Grillplatte war das Steak schon mehrmals "tot", wie man so schön sagt und die Portionen sind nicht sehr üppig, aber für manchen reichts aus. Der Burger sah ganz gut aus, auf den ersten Blick, aber leider ging es mir danach nicht so gut und die eigentliche BBQ-Sauce war nur Ketchup, was ich bisschen schade fand. Dann haben wir noch gefragt, wegen einem Eis als Nachtisch und der Kellner sagte, eigentlich haben wir alle bekannten Sorten, aber dann kam er nur mit 5 Sorten, auf einem Zettel notiert, für je 2,90€ die Kugel. Da ist einem dann der Nachtisch vergangen und die Auswahl hatte leider auch gefehlt. Was ich aber gut an der Essenskarte fand war, dass es kleine, aber mehrere Auswahlen gab, von Fisch, Vegetarisch, Fleisch und dergleichen. Die Preise sind ein bisschen gehobener als anders wo.

War Sher schön Dort und auch nicht so Teuer wie ich es gedacht habe liegt zwar ein bisschen Abseits und Versteckt aber ansonsten war alles sehr Stimmig dort ^_;

Super Ambiente. Ich hätte mir eine etwas speziellere Speisekarte gewünscht. Etwas was es nur hier gibt. Daher war ich von der Auswahl enttäuscht. Lendchen, Burger, etc kann wo anders günstiger essen.
