Don Kichot in Leipzig

Incredibly great little shop. Delicious food, and the portions were absolutely reasonable. Everyone was full, happy, and satisfied!

Ordered: Kumpir Sancho Pancho Received: baked potato with fatty chicken on a skewer, garnished with French dressing and canned yogurt sauce...the dollop of aivar and the other ingredients were drowned in fat. And all for a mere €13.50. I've never had such a cheap and bad kumpir. Once and never again!

Great Kumpir with options for every taste – I went for the signature "Don Quixote" and it was excellent. The other dishes behind the counter and on neighboring tables looked really appetizing too. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the prices have gone up quite a bit over the past year. Also, keep in mind – this isn’t exactly fast food. I waited around 20 minutes for just one Kumpir, so plan accordingly. Still, a tasty experience overall!

Points deducted because the prices went up quite a bit. The prices for drinks are almost a bit cheeky... but the food and service are very good.

really nice kumpir. as a Turkish I would say the best in leipzig. atmosphere also nice. negative parts: for turkish tea you need turkish tea glasses. this place only accept cash.. welcome to 1980..

The Kumpir potatoes are very tasty, and the Don Kichot salad contains a lot of beef and is nicely presented. There is no table service. Unfortunately, prices have risen considerably, especially for drinks. A 0.5-liter bottle of cider costs more than €6! The toilets are a bit run down. So, if you're not planning on getting drunk or arriving dehydrated in the summer, Don Kichot is definitely recommended.

Been there twice. Great first time, failure today. Person behind the counter couldn't say hello or goodbye, let alone thank you for tips during self-service and taking food home. The fiery tortilla wrap was neither fiery nor topped with nachos, but instead had what felt like half a kilo of undressed chickpeas that didn't contribute to the taste or texture. Ok for a quick hunger, but today it can be improved overall. Insert obligatory Alman: “NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Very negative experience in the resteraunt, the little employee with the bald head and the beard was very unfriendly. He took 2 euros for each change + when asked to please turn the music down a little because the inappropriate music was very loud, he rudely said no. He also answered no to the question of whether you can put together your own buddy. The food didn't arrive as ordered and we didn't like it. Unfortunately, we went in with high expectations and came out again with great disappointment.

Well, the food is good, unfortunately the Kumpir still had potato shoots on it, which you shouldn't eat. That wasn't appropriate for the price. Unfortunately, “service” does not take place. Unfriendly or very neutral, self-service when you sit outside and the restaurant is empty, the waiter prefers to sit outside and smoke... Not so cool. I wouldn't go there again. There are definitely better Kumpir restaurants.

So there's nothing to complain about when it comes to food. It was tasty and we didn't have to wait long for it. There is nothing to rate in terms of service as we only received our food. We cleared the table ourselves. Overall, everything is a bit small and cramped. If you want some nice food, you're still welcome to go...

Yesterday evening, after a concert, we ended up in this small shop quite by chance (with rather low expectations). We were really positively surprised by the great, culinary selection of food (even for me as a vegetarian). The Kumpir variants are super delicious! Furthermore, all the employees were very friendly and humorous. A really characterful shop! Gladly again!😌

I was here for the first time today. The food (Kumpir) was very tasty, value for money was okay. Food must be ordered at the counter and payment can only be made in cash.

There are no vegan options. You can order dishes vegan, but then only ingredients are left out. You can taste that too. My Kumpir was also quite cold and very expensive for what was in it.

Don Kichot serves delicious kumpir (stuffed baked potatoes) and wraps in a variety of variations. The store is stylishly decorated with little details here and there. There is also the option to sit outside in front of the shop. The baked potatoes deserve their name and come fresh from the fire oven. The filling is quite generous, but the dishes are not necessarily cheap (around €10). The staff behind the counter is relaxed and very friendly.

The food is ok, quite tasty. Why you should play some kind of bum music that is way too loud, with significant speakers, is not suitable for a restaurant. If you describe a scene by putting some very uncomfortable furniture and tables that are too small, then that's probably true. Overall, it significantly spoiled the quite interesting impression of the food. A pity. Fits better as a pub without food... I don't have to go here anymore

Cool shop with nice people and great for a lunch break. I can't fault the taste. I liked.

Warning; fotos can be deceiving. Most of the two items we ordered consisted of iceberg lettuce, corn, and more lettuce. Avocado Wrap was made of a pretty standard packaged tortilla that lacked flavor, 80% iceberg lettuce and some minimal corn and carrot shavings. Inside we found three pieces of avocado. Since we arderse two of those we assume that’s the general rule rather than an odd exception. The Mexican salad we ordered didn’t miss on the trend neither. All in all the people behind the desk were very nice and we assume this place was great at some point. Seems to be riding on high prices low quality for tourist; sadly. But that is just our opinion and I’d be happy to be shown otherwise. I would encourage them to return focus on bringing back up the good recipes and work hard in making a difference with sourcing from local producers; with those prices they would certainly be able. I don't know why I didn't write a review for Don Kichot before. One of my absolute favorite restaurants/snacks! I love the Kumpir, the food is so varied and the staff is so extremely friendly! I don't think I've eaten anywhere else as often as I did here last year. Also a cheaper alternative to the other shops on Karl-Heine Straße. You can eat well here for under €10, but I highly recommend the grape leaves. The vegetarian Kumpir is my favorite, but you can choose from many different toppings.

I had an approximately 2 cm shard of glass (!) in my food that I noticed while chewing. When I told the staff, their only reaction was: Yes, luckily I didn't swallow it. The topping in their counter that I had ordered was then just stirred briefly to see if there were any more glass splinters in it instead of throwing the whole thing away. I was a bit stunned. There was also no offer that I could get my money back or anything. It just didn't matter. If you were to swallow a shard like that, it might just end quickly. I would strongly advise against eating there!

Been here a lot and loved it every time. For me the best Kumpir in Leipzig so far. My favorite is the vegetarian one because the couscous on it is incredibly delicious. Also great is the absolutely warm staff who know their regular customers and always have a smile on their faces

Very good ambience with cool oriental ideas. Unfortunately there is no delivery service. You have to queue for your food and you don't get a card at the table. However, prices are like in the restaurant.

Always very tasty. Our food was briefly forgotten last time. So we had to wait about 20 minutes. But it has only happened once so far. And that with a lot of guests. The team then tried very hard to make up for the mistake straight away. All in all a small, fine shop with a great concept! I always enjoy going there.

The food is fantastic, I've never had a baked potato as good as here! In addition, all vegetarian Kumpirs are possible as vegan! And the teas are super tasty and not too sweet. The toilets are clean. Unfortunately, no card payment is possible.

Wir waren 10min nach Ladenschluss da. Er hat uns trotzdem bedient. Ein sehr sehr netter Mann. Und die Dame. Ich gebe 100 Punkte top👍🧡

Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Die Kumpir haben sehr sehr lecker geschmeckt. Es gab eine sehr grosse Auswahl und alles war sehr frisch. Es gab auch verschiedene Optionen für verschiedene Ernährungsweisen. Preislich war es völlig angemessen. Sehr gemütlich eingerichtetes Lokal, wenn auch teils etwas eng. Kleiner Tipp beim Essen: Nicht von oben nach unten essen sonst ist am Ende "nur" Kartoffel übrig und es wird etwas trocken (das war aber unser Fehler, da definitiv genug Topping da war) ;)

The food is okay but too pricey. On top of that one of the employees always tries to charge more, be careful! It is very annoying, I witnessed it a couple of times now. It is always in favor of the restaurants that he 'accidentally' charges too much.
