A really good Italian restaurant located in the heart of the old town on the Plötze. Top-notch service, excellent quality, and truly delicious wines, without being pretentious. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but still reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

A modern Italian restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff. Prices are a bit higher. The highlight, however, is that the pizza and pasta are completely gluten-free. Be sure to make a reservation if you're more than two people.

My wife had a carelessly served Aperol for €9.50 (€7 on Sylt) and simple gnocchi for €17. She ate about half of it and wanted to take the rest home, but unfortunately, the kitchen had already thrown it away even though we had told them otherwise—tough luck! I had a Coke for €6 and a (child's) portion of lasagna for €18! The taste was rather average—summarizing...you probably want to compete with the upscale restaurants, at least in terms of price, but unfortunately, you can't even get the basics right. Never again!

Since I have celiac disease, Don Camilo is truly a dream. The pizza is absolutely delicious. I look forward to it every time.

We visited this restaurant spontaneously. The owner and waitress were extremely enthusiastic and gave us two seats outside. Service was okay, but it probably took a while due to the high demand. Food was excellent. Drinks and wine were excellent. Half a star deducted for the wine prices. The menu lists prices for 0.1-liter glasses, but 0.2 liters were included in the order. Still OK. But €12.50 for a 0.2-liter Lugana, which retails for €13.00 per bottle, is steep. €24.00 was a fair price for the chilled bottle, which we took with us to round off our wonderful day in Limburg.

The best Italian restaurant in Limburg: 1. Food: The pizzas are unbeatable! The dough is made from home-grown Lievito Madre (Italian sourdough). The long aging time makes it very digestible and mild in flavor. And, of course, it's baked in a wood-fired oven – so it not only tastes good but also looks good. This is actually standard for Italians, but unfortunately, this traditional baking art is rarely found here in Germany. The other food also looks delicious, but I'm always stuck for the delicious pizza 🤷 2. Service: The family and the many waiters are very nice. They are very efficient and try to serve the many guests as quickly as possible. Be sure to make a reservation, even if it's just two of you and it's a normal weekday! Waiting times, for example, can be quite long. You should take this into account when assigning a table (hence "only" 4 out of 5 stars) and take it easy – after all, anticipation is the greatest joy 😉 3. Ambience: in one word: original! Old black-and-white photos remind you of, among other things, Papa Giuseppe and his favorite film—guess what? Exactly: Don Camillo and Peppone. Lights radiate discreetly from all sorts of everyday objects in the ceiling (it's worth looking up), and the many Italian guests give you the impression you're on vacation in Italy. Unfortunately, I've only been there twice because I'm from Wetzlar and a hobby bread baker myself, but when I'm in Limburg, Don Camillo is "my" Italian restaurant 😊

Very friendly, helpful service. Well-stocked chicken salad with watermelon; very refreshing. The pizza Margarita felt like a mozzarella lake with a soggy base; I would have preferred a minimalist Neapolitan pizza. The prices are also rather high, especially considering the non-alcoholic beer for €6.40. The seating is very central, in a quiet spot under umbrellas, which is also great.

Since 2012, I've been to Limburg many times during my business trips, and from the very first moment, I was enchanted by the flavors and atmosphere of this place. The service is always warm, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is appropriate, super refreshing, especially outdoors in the evenings. The food is delicious; I haven't had a single meal there that didn't taste delicious. Fresh, aromatic, and served with gusto. Even when I had stomach problems due to illness, they managed to feed me without any hassle, which is a compliment. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, it took some time for us to receive the menu and order, even though less than 50% of the tables were occupied. Two of the four dishes were faulty. For example, the vegetarian gnocchi contained minced meat. Upon complaining, the plate was taken to the kitchen and returned to our table with the explanation that there was no minced meat. When we placed the pieces of minced meat from the dish onto a fork, the plate was brought back to the kitchen. The waiter apologized and confirmed that it was minced meat. By the time the dish was recooked, the other dishes had almost been eaten. The second faulty dish was a salami pizza with a piece of ham on it. Unfortunately, given the price, it was anything but what we expected. We can't recommend it. It's a shame. Ultimately, the gnocchi were removed from the bill. This should also be mentioned for the sake of completeness.

We spontaneously got a table for four people on a Friday evening! Amazing! Great service and a sensational meal! If we ever come back to Limburg, we'll definitely eat here again!

Even if you have to sit inside in the summer because everything outside is booked, the large windows give you the feeling of being close to the action outside.

The food was delicious, but the waiters should be working instead of flirting with the female customers. Also, extra burrata on the pizza costs €8 more, which was described as a "small surcharge." However, if you omitted an ingredient, there was no price reduction.

The outdoor seating is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the service isn't quite as good. The Caprese starter seemed a bit carelessly presented to me. The Saltimbocca alla Romana is highly recommended.

It's a popular restaurant, and it's very good. Both the food and the ambiance. We had two complaints, which were addressed positively. One was that we didn't get a very nice table despite having a reservation. This was quickly rectified. The other was that the food wasn't served warm enough. It had probably been sitting too long. Instead, they offered a digestive. That was also a good arrangement. I have the impression that the staff has the place under control and knows how to respond appropriately.

Friendly and welcoming, we were seated immediately, even though we hadn't reserved. We were served promptly, and the salad was delicious! It's a shame we live so far away: I think we'd be regulars otherwise♥️

The pizza was burnt on the bottom and the service was anything but friendly… that was the last visit!

I was so looking forward to a gluten-free pizza 🍕, and it was simply not enjoyable. The crust was rock hard and almost impossible to cut, so the pizza was cut in the kitchen. I spent ages chewing on it, and the taste was bland. The topping I wanted wasn't on the pizza either, for which the friendly waitress apologized but didn't offer a replacement. Just because it looks inviting doesn't mean it tastes good 😪 The pizza went back for three-quarters of a liter and cost €20, with no concessions on the payment. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. Since I tested the gluten-free pizza for a group, I don't give it a thumbs-up.

We were there on Sunday with four people. The decor was super pleasant, just like an authentic Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food: spaghetti was overcooked and pizza was okay. The staff were a bit unsure.

Value for money not recommended! Completely overpriced. The vitello tonnato was far too expensive at €21.00. The plate looked promising, but underneath a layer of meat and sauce was a large pile of arugula salad. I also found the wine too expensive. Next time, I'll simply stand up at these prices, as some other people did that evening. And rightly so!

The food tastes good. However, you practically have to beg the waiter to come to your table. We approached several people several times when they even looked at our table – it only worked with insistence. The place was half empty. Otherwise: clean, solid, and some of the food tastes truly Italian.

Very nice staff in a very cozy restaurant. That fits. Food was good too. But for the price I would have expected an even better pizza. My wife had pasta. They were probably good too. For regular visits, it's 1-2 euros too expensive per dish for me.

My pizza was ready about 5 minutes after I ordered it. Ok, if you're in a hurry it's definitely good, but if you want to enjoy the evening it's a bit too quick. Unfortunately the pizza wasn't really good but since I was hungry I ate it. When asked if I liked it, I answered no. The reaction was that no one paid me any attention after that. Everyone at the table around me was asked if they needed anything else, but I didn't. After asking, I was taken into consideration. But what I will say is that the table next to me was happy with their food.

I live a raw vegan diet and that is inherently a bit difficult for many restaurants. I ordered a simple salad at Don Camillo. Unfortunately, I have to say that I have rarely eaten such a bad salad. Some leaves were rotten. The salad had 2 lumps in it. I almost accidentally ate one of them and it tasted very strange. After that I was more careful. I left the second one on the plate. My husband thought his pizza was very good, so not a complete downvote.

Don Camillo is a great restaurant. The staff are very friendly. After spontaneously asking whether there was a possibility of getting a table, we received one. Although with a time limit. Which was more than fine for us. If we are in the place again, we would eat there again. The food is very good both in terms of price and taste. Definitely recommended. But it would still be good to reserve a table there. To fully enjoy it.

Today we spent an evening with friends at Don Camilo's. We received extremely friendly and professional service. The menu offers something for every taste and there was also a menu with daily recommendations. The drinks we ordered came quickly and the food arrived soon. Unfortunately, we all had the feeling that the food didn't quite live up to the expectations of the loka. Some of the food was lightly seasoned and lackluster and the pasta with truffles, which I have often eaten in Italy, was completely drowned in a cream sauce and was also rather boring. The same thing with the pasta with asparagus, where the salt seemed to have been completely forgotten. The pizzas were also rather plain in taste. The service and the ambience, even though it was quite loud, still saved the evening. In our opinion, the prices of the dishes do not reflect the quality of the food. My tip to Don Camillo, more verve and sophistication when seasoning and less cream on the food. Then there are also 5 stars.

Generally a cute restaurant in the old town with tradition. It's nice to sit there and have a view of the hustle and bustle of the old town. Unfortunately I have to say that the price-performance ratio for my pizza yesterday wasn't right. I had a Frutti du Mare for 18 euros. I expected a colorful mix of seafood for this price. Unfortunately, the "seafood" consisted of 90 percent mussels. They also have their own taste, so the whole pizza only tasted like mussels. There was also a negligible amount of crabs and other things present. Definitely not more than 3-4 pieces, mini small. Since I eat this pizza very often in restaurants, I did a direct comparison and this pizza did really poorly, simply because of the extreme excess of mussels and generally the seafood was very small. The pizza was great in terms of dough! My husband had a great Pizza Tonno and generally what I saw at the tables next to me was also great. The staff was very friendly!

The food was good and the place was very nice. The prices were not as advertised on their website. They need to be updated as it was more expensive than we anticipated going in. They also didn't have a lunch menu.

I can't understand all the positive reviews. I have never received such a loveless, small and overpriced salad anywhere and it wasn't even tasty! There wasn't even a baguette! We left the restaurant hungry. The drink prices are also outrageous. The waitress didn't even come to the table on her own. Conclusion: People have too much money and are supporting a completely overrated restaurant!

I have always loved the restaurant, until my last two visits. The dishes are overpriced and the portions have become smaller. In addition, the pizza bread that was delivered with my salad was burnt. The Aperol glasses are not much larger than a white wine glass. Furthermore, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We sat and ate in the restaurant all evening. When we ordered at 9:25 p.m. we were informed that it was closed at 10 p.m. After 9:45 p.m. it got really uncomfortable. The tablecloths on the other tables were replaced and the outside door was torn open when the outside temperature was around 2 degrees to get the seat cushions in from the porch. In any case, I won't be coming back for the time being, even though I always loved the view over the Roach. At some point the pain threshold is reached. Even the boss's fake smile doesn't help anymore.

TOP ITALIAN restaurant: with excellent service, fast, clean and attentive to customer needs, the cloakroom is also convenient to be comfortable once seated. We had lunch with tagliatelle with mushrooms which were not only good but also a hearty dish. And the pizza is great too. You will not find Neapolitan pizza with a high edge but a crunchy Roman-style pizza with top quality products. Super recommended if you want to eat VERY GOOD Italian food in Germany.. Excellent value for money too.. we will definitely be back 👍

The restaurant is very nice and very small. The staff was great! The food, I had the classic lasagne, was good but not outstanding. Price/performance isn't quite right... For a 0.1 wine you pay from 6.5o euros upwards, which is not possible.

The Don Camillo restaurant is a real gem for lovers of Italian cuisine. It has been our favorite restaurant for 23 years. As soon as you enter you can feel the warm, familiar atmosphere, which makes your stay a special experience. The dishes are of excellent quality and are based on original Italian recipes, which underlines the authentic taste. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, so that you as a guest feel completely comfortable. What is particularly impressive is that the food comes freshly prepared to the table in just 15 minutes. Even on Saturday evening when the restaurant was full, we were pleasantly surprised that our food was served shortly after the drinks. To expand the seating capacity, the restaurant now has a winter garden with a view of the old town. Fantastic. The pasta dishes are an absolute highlight, perfectly cooked and served with tasty sauces. Authentically Italian. The pizzas are impressive in size and the toppings are made with fresh ingredients. Since Don Camillo is always very busy, I would recommend a table reservation. The menu offers a good selection of classic dishes, but is supplemented by a monthly changing recommendation menu, which always provides exciting variety.

Ich war jetzt zum dritten Mal bei Don Camillo in Limburg. Die beiden Male zuvor war ich sehr zufrieden, insbesondere das Rumpsteak war super, die Garstufe perfekt. Dieses Mal leider nicht: das Rumpsteak hatte ich „rare“ bestellt, der Kellner hat das auch so notiert, und dann kam der Teller auf den Tisch: das Steak sah optisch super aus, geschmacklich war es sehr gut, aber: leider viel zu weit durch, also „medium“. Ich habe den Chef herbeizitiert, der hat das auch sofort anerkannt und wollte mir ein neues Stück Fleisch zubereiten lassen. Das habe ich dankend abgelehnt… ein Stück gutes Fleisch gehört nicht in die Mülltonne. Ich habe aber zumindest irgend eine Wiedergutmachung erwartet. Die kam aber nicht. Statt dessen schwenzelte der Junior Kellner (der uns zuvor gar nicht bedient hatte) zwei Mal am Tisch vorbei und fragte, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Ich sagte „Ja, bis auf das Steak, das ist zu weit durch. Das habe ich aber bereits dem Chef mitgeteilt“. Dann zog der Junior wieder ab, ohne etwas zu sagen. Wahrscheinlich erwartete er, dass wir noch mal Getränke nachbestellen, was wir aber nicht taten. Nach dem Essen haben wir statt dessen um die Rechnung gebeten. Spätestens hier hätte ich einen Grappa oder einen Espresso aufs Haus erwartet… es kam aber nix! Schade, das hätte ich anders erwartet. Mein Fazit: das Essen war schon mal besser, der Service ist ausbaufähig. Dazu ist der Geräuschpegel im Restaurant sehr hoch. Bei meinem nächsten Aufenthalt in Limburg werde ich definitiv ein anderes italienisches Restaurant aufsuchen. Es gibt ja zum Glück einige vor Ort.

We ended up there for lunch by chance because we were craving pizza. The welcome in Italian put us in the same mood 😎 and the pizza was really tasty and very large. Not cheap but good value for the size - we didn't quite manage it.

We were here before Olaf Schubert's performance in the Stadthalle. We had ordered a table, but it was already taken because we were about 5 minutes late. But the service was extremely friendly and after a short wait we got a table. The pizzas were pretty much the best we've ever eaten! It's a shame we were a bit pressed for time. Conclusion: Highly recommended, book a table in advance and be on time ;-)

Delicious. Nice service and ambience

Sehr gemütliches kleines, Italienisches Restaurant. Hatten Pasta mit Scampi und eine Pizza mit Rucola und Parmaschinken. Dünner knuspriger Teig, frisch aufgeschnittener Schinken. So muss Pizza sein! Auch die Scampi waren lecker zubereitet mit den Spaghetti. Sehr aufmerksames Personal. Tolle Empfehlung, um den Limburgbesuch abzurunden.

I had dinner at this restaurant Monday evening and there were quite a few customers there. I loved the warm service from the boss and employees. The dishes are just too good and served hot at the table. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. My friend is a regular and I understand why he is loyal to this restaurant. Go there with your eyes closed. I can't wait to come back to Limburg. The elegance and finesse of the Italians.

Pizzas average Prices not...😳 2 pizzas, 1 small glass (0.1) of wine and 2 beers.. 48 euros.!!! In addition, the pizza crust was black and couldn't be cut or chewed. Yes.... now the usual thing with the transparency of the prices will come in 2 days at the latest...

In my opinion, the prices for drinks are outrageous, even though they are of course clearly marked and I went there voluntarily. With 4.5 stars and the prices, I expect a lot more from the food, which, like my rating, only ended up in the middle. The service and location are at a high level, but for me personally they are only soft skills when visiting a restaurant.

We (2 people) dined indoors. The side salad we ordered was very fresh, nicely presented and delicious. Spagetti Carbonara and Spagetti Aglio et Olio were perfectly al dente. You could tell that the sauce in question was made in an original Italian way using good products, both extremely tasty. We were very impressed with the food and can highly recommend it.

We were eating with several friends at the beginning of August and had booked a table outside. The food and service were good, but also very high for a small town with almost 30,000 inhabitants. The prices were previously visible on the map; we also perceived them as very high. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a look at the drinks menu... and so when we paid we discovered that a large glass of beer (0.5 l), regardless of whether it was Pilsner or Radler, cost 6.30 euros. This is downright outrageous... and can only be explained by the fact that the restaurant probably relies mainly on one-time payers and tourists. We can therefore NOT recommend the restaurant and will definitely not go there again.

Due to a short trip I had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant. I ordered macaroni with fresh mushrooms, ham and egg. It tasted delicious and the portion was completely sufficient. The price-performance ratio is very good.

We were allowed to take a seat inside after we were directed inside by an unintelligible girl. We ordered food and drinks, which were absolutely great! Delicious frutti di mare pizza and prosciutto pizza. During and after the meal, we were not asked at all whether everything was to our liking and whether we wanted something to drink (we did). When I signaled to the waitress to ask for the bill, she nodded and mumbled something. Our plates were taken away but we had to wait another 15 minutes until another waitress finally came with the bill. In between I made eye contact several times and tried to signal, they were too busy with all the other guests. In short; good food, less good service!
