Don Camillo in Limburg a.d.Lahn

A more than positive experience. Welcoming place, very kind staff and I certainly ate the best pizza here in Germany, but there are few as good in Italy too.

The Don Camillo restaurant is a real gem for lovers of Italian cuisine. It has been our favorite restaurant for 23 years. As soon as you enter you can feel the warm, familiar atmosphere, which makes your stay a special experience. The dishes are of excellent quality and are based on original Italian recipes, which underlines the authentic taste. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, so that you as a guest feel completely comfortable. What is particularly impressive is that the food comes to the table freshly prepared in just 15 minutes. Even on Saturday evening when the restaurant was full, we were pleasantly surprised that our food was served shortly after the drinks. To expand the seating capacity, the restaurant now has a winter garden with a view of the old town. Fantastic. The pasta dishes are an absolute highlight, perfectly cooked and served with tasty sauces. Authentically Italian. The pizzas are impressive in size and the toppings are made with fresh ingredients. Since Don Camillo is always very busy, I would recommend a table reservation. The menu offers a good selection of classic dishes, but is supplemented by a monthly changing recommendation menu, which always provides exciting variety.

Ich war jetzt zum dritten Mal bei Don Camillo in Limburg. Die beiden Male zuvor war ich sehr zufrieden, insbesondere das Rumpsteak war super, die Garstufe perfekt. Dieses Mal leider nicht: das Rumpsteak hatte ich „rare“ bestellt, der Kellner hat das auch so notiert, und dann kam der Teller auf den Tisch: das Steak sah optisch super aus, geschmacklich war es sehr gut, aber: leider viel zu weit durch, also „medium“. Ich habe den Chef herbeizitiert, der hat das auch sofort anerkannt und wollte mir ein neues Stück Fleisch zubereiten lassen. Das habe ich dankend abgelehnt… ein Stück gutes Fleisch gehört nicht in die Mülltonne. Ich habe aber zumindest irgend eine Wiedergutmachung erwartet. Die kam aber nicht. Statt dessen schwenzelte der Junior Kellner (der uns zuvor gar nicht bedient hatte) zwei Mal am Tisch vorbei und fragte, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Ich sagte „Ja, bis auf das Steak, das ist zu weit durch. Das habe ich aber bereits dem Chef mitgeteilt“. Dann zog der Junior wieder ab, ohne etwas zu sagen. Wahrscheinlich erwartete er, dass wir noch mal Getränke nachbestellen, was wir aber nicht taten. Nach dem Essen haben wir statt dessen um die Rechnung gebeten. Spätestens hier hätte ich einen Grappa oder einen Espresso aufs Haus erwartet… es kam aber nix! Schade, das hätte ich anders erwartet. Mein Fazit: das Essen war schon mal besser, der Service ist ausbaufähig. Dazu ist der Geräuschpegel im Restaurant sehr hoch. Bei meinem nächsten Aufenthalt in Limburg werde ich definitiv ein anderes italienisches Restaurant aufsuchen. Es gibt ja zum Glück einige vor Ort.

We ended up there for lunch by chance because we were craving pizza. The welcome in Italian put us in the same mood 😎 and the pizza was really tasty and very large. Not cheap but good value for the size - we didn't quite manage it.

We were here before Olaf Schubert's performance in the Stadthalle. We had ordered a table, but it was already taken because we were about 5 minutes late. But the service was extremely friendly and after a short wait we got a table. The pizzas were pretty much the best we've ever eaten! It's a shame we were a bit pressed for time. Conclusion: Highly recommended, book a table in advance and be on time ;-)

Delicious. Nice service and ambience

Sehr gemütliches kleines, Italienisches Restaurant. Hatten Pasta mit Scampi und eine Pizza mit Rucola und Parmaschinken. Dünner knuspriger Teig, frisch aufgeschnittener Schinken. So muss Pizza sein! Auch die Scampi waren lecker zubereitet mit den Spaghetti. Sehr aufmerksames Personal. Tolle Empfehlung, um den Limburgbesuch abzurunden.

I had dinner at this restaurant Monday evening and there were quite a few customers there. I loved the warm service from the boss and employees. The dishes are just too good and served hot at the table. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. My friend is a regular and I understand why he is loyal to this restaurant. Go there with your eyes closed. I can't wait to come back to Limburg. The elegance and finesse of the Italians.

Located in the middle of Limburg's beautiful old town, we had a delicious meal here. With the extremely nice, attentive and courteous staff, this stop is highly recommended.

Very Italian flair (where for me it is actually typical if you sit a little closer to each other). The service is super friendly and attentive, the food is prepared lovingly, carefully and with a lot of understanding of Italian cuisine. Compliment!

The food is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant itself is relatively narrow, but cozy. The service is friendly and quick. The food left nothing to be desired. From the pizza to pasta to the classic lasagne, we were all more than satisfied and would definitely recommend a visit. The espresso was excellent. It has to be said that the tables are given away several times in the evening. If you come early you have to leave early. The price is reasonable, although it is not for those on a budget. You should start with 40 euros per person. calculate. A reservation is definitely worth it

Pizzas average Prices not...😳 2 pizzas, 1 small glass (0.1) of wine and 2 beers.. 48 euros.!!! In addition, the pizza crust was black and couldn't be cut or chewed. Yes.... now the usual thing with the transparency of the prices will come in 2 days at the latest...

In my opinion, the prices for drinks are outrageous, even though they are of course clearly marked and I went there voluntarily. With 4.5 stars and the prices, I expect a lot more from the food, which, like my rating, only ended up in the middle. The service and location are at a high level, but for me personally they are only soft skills when visiting a restaurant.

Pasta was incredibly tasty, of course I recommend it here. One star less because service is slower during peak times

We (2 people) dined indoors. The side salad we ordered was very fresh, nicely presented and delicious. Spagetti Carbonara and Spagetti Aglio et Olio were perfectly al dente. You could tell that the sauce in question was made in an original Italian way using good products, both extremely tasty. We were very impressed with the food and can highly recommend it.

Preise für Essen sind OK , aber 6 Euro für 0,1 cc Nero Davola doch eher zu teuer. Essen und Auswahl gut, Service auch Aber Getränke finde ich einfach übertrieben

Very very friendly staff. Such enormous kindness needs to be highlighted!!! The pizza is excellent, the pasta is also very tasty. You get really good food and the best service for a good price. A great restaurant. The toilets are also very clean. This is not a given everywhere.

We were eating with several friends at the beginning of August and had booked a table outside. The food and service were good, but also very high for a small town with almost 30,000 inhabitants. The prices were previously visible on the map; we also perceived them as very high. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a look at the drinks menu... and so when we paid we discovered that a large glass of beer (0.5 l), regardless of whether it was Pilsner or Radler, cost 6.30 euros. This is downright outrageous... and can only be explained by the fact that the restaurant probably relies mainly on one-time payers and tourists. We can therefore NOT recommend the restaurant and will definitely not go there again.

Due to a short trip I had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant. I ordered macaroni with fresh mushrooms, ham and egg. It tasted delicious and the portion was completely sufficient. The price-performance ratio is very good.

Always excellent and very tasty dishes on the recommendation menu, so you like to try something new. The service is also great.

We were allowed to take a seat inside after we were directed inside by an unintelligible girl. We ordered food and drinks, which were absolutely great! Delicious frutti di mare pizza and prosciutto pizza. During and after the meal, we were not asked at all whether everything was to our liking and whether we wanted something to drink (we did). When I signaled to the waitress to ask for the bill, she nodded and mumbled something. Our plates were taken away but we had to wait another 15 minutes until another waitress finally came with the bill. In between I made eye contact several times and tried to signal, they were too busy with all the other guests. In short; good food, less good service!

The pasta was tasty, the service poor and the wine far too expensive, the wine price is per 100ml on the menu instead of 200ml.

Very expensive!! A waiter was very nice, but the boss then came to cash. It's a shame because the waiters are entitled to tips. My son had dry (gluten-free) pasta for a child's portion, without sauce!! Paid 12.50 euros. Violent I didn't get the bread that was actually served with my soup. I would have expected a reduction in the price of the noodles if you don't use the sauce, as well as a reduction in the price of the soup. It is also surprising that you only receive the invoice after requesting it. It is actually appropriate to give customers an invoice and not simply state an amount verbally. So unfortunately not a recommendation

I have rarely eaten so well in an Italian restaurant outside of Italy. The staff were all very attentive and friendly.

We decided on this restaurant at very short notice and spontaneously went to Don Camillo. After a brief consultation with the boss, we were assigned a table outside. The entire service was very friendly and accommodating to us. The appetizers and pizzas were very tasty. The atmosphere was very pleasant for us.

Casa Don Camillo – A piece of Italy in the middle of Limburg The Don Camillo in Limburg is a real insider tip for all lovers of authentic Italian cuisine. The warm and familiar atmosphere, the attentive service and of course the deliciously prepared food make a visit a special experience. What particularly stands out for me is the traditionally prepared carbonara and the Italian starter plate. The price-performance ratio is also good. What's particularly great is that gluten-free dishes are also prepared here upon request. I always feel very comfortable at Don Camillo and always enjoy coming here with my family or friends. If you want to enjoy Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere, this is the right place for you!

The stop in Limburg with an overnight stay was specially planned around the gluten-free meal and then you find yourself standing in front of a closed door despite having made a reservation and confirmation in advance.

Dinner for 8 people. Hassle-free table reservations, informative website with up-to-date menu. The quality of the food, the friendly service, the ambience, the cleanliness - everything was perfect. We can only confirm the positive impressions of other guests, we were very satisfied and would like to thank the whole team for a successful evening.

Hello all..we were there on the 4th August Sunday 6 of us for lunch. I agree its a bit pricey , 18 euro for a salad . I really liked Cheyanne ( I hope I spelled it correct ) I asked for a salad with no dressing only oil and vinegar on the side and when served it had dressing . She kindly offered to exchange but I declined . Cheyanne is the only reason I would go back :) Extremely friendly and competent and just a great person !! and she spoke English with me :) I know she only works the summer which is too bad. Restaurants could use more people like her. Yes others were friendly also but she was my Favorite !!!! everyone liked the food it is just a little pricey. Cheers all and Cheyanne good luck in your studies . Next time I am in Limburg I will stop and say Hallo .

The service is so so so …. Slow…… No one serve us to seat and take forever for them to give us menu, then asked us to move to inside seat mentioning that the outdoor seat is reserved (but until we leave, there is still outdoor seat available 🙂) I tried the Gnocchi, flavour wise is not great also not bad, just average, the texture of the Gnocchi is okay, but still felt too mushy (or maybe Gnocchi is just not my food). I also tasted my friend’s Margherita Pizza 🍕 It’s too salty 🫥 The wine (Zibibbo) is okay for me. A hint of fruity, but not actually sweet Still a smooth white wine Apart from the food, The font in the menu is so hard to read 😶‍🌫️ Will I recommend this restaurant? Not really but you can go if you don’t mind below average service with average food

De naam doet vermoeden dat je aan een bijzondere Italiaanse reis begint. Dat is helaas niet zo voor het eten. Naast een starter meloen met ham, waarbij de meloen totaal niet rijp was en een focaccia die meer op een lege pizza bodem leek, komt dan de cannelloni met spinazie gevuld op een koud bord gelegd, geen oven gezien. Kortom, het personeel was niet gewend met kritiek om te gaan, geen excuus of drankje na. Kortom, geen aanbeveling om met je geliefde naartoe te gaan.

We are currently sitting here at Don Camillo and have been waiting for our food for over an hour. It took half an hour to wait just to get the drinks. Even as a patient person, it is a challenge to see how every drink and every food is brought out one by one... I am disappointed with the service, attention and time management

Unfortunately disappointed. Went there because of the good reviews. Absolutely overpriced for the quality.! The advertised mozzarella for my dish was rather sparse... If you offer finished products, the price should be accordingly. We felt rather dismissed. There wasn't even any bread or anything similar to what you're used to in a good restaurant. The carbonara is also not recommended. A pity.....

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Don Camillo Restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious and prepared with a lot of love. The service was very attentive and friendly, which made my experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I felt really well looked after.

One of the best restaurants ever. Authentic cuisine with the charm of a family business. Everything just fits here. We love being guests and feel welcome.

Reservation in advance is recommended. A loving and well-established family business. The food and drinks came quickly even though it was busy. The portions were generous, the pizza was well topped and very tasty. The atmosphere was modern and chic. If we are in Limburg again, we would like to come back.

Very expensive and the mixed salad is a disgrace. A large plate with a green salad, a few small pieces of pepper, cucumber and tomato and hardly any dressing. I have rarely eaten such a boring salad. Pizza tastes good, but too expensive. After our order had already been taken, we were informed that only cash payment was possible. There was no sign about it. Where else can you find something like that? You should really just get up and go...

I wanted to stop at Don Camillo today and sat down at an unoccupied table. I asked the waitress for the menu, whereupon she told me that the table was reserved. I then pointed out to the waitress that the reservation had to be noted. The waitress asked me to wait at the bar table until something became available. I decided to eat at the Pizzaria Roseneck opposite, where I was served as a customer and was very satisfied with the cuisine and the service I strongly advise against stopping at Don Camillo, because they don't have any I learned that the customer is king!

The two of us were in the restaurant on Saturday evening and we cannot recommend it. The octopus carpaccio appetizer came directly from the refrigerator to the table and was therefore tasteless. The seafood pasta had a spice that I didn't like. When asked, I shared this with the manager of the house. She told me that I probably didn't know what the dish was supposed to taste like because I had probably eaten too often "at the Turk's" who cooked Italian. I will never visit this restaurant again!

I can't say anything about the food, but the service on the phone was enough for me. We had reserved a table for 7:30pm and called 6 minutes later to say we would be late as unfortunately there was no parking space to be found. The gentleman on the phone then said that they had already given the place to someone else. I have to ask myself whether there was a wait at all... especially 6 minutes really isn't long and anyone can be late. You could also have called briefly. Today was our anniversary and we were simply brushed off on the phone and of course couldn't get a place anywhere else on a Monday evening. I have never experienced anything like it. No other solution was looked for for us either. We won't come anymore.

Ein schöner Abend in der Limburger Altstadt sollte einen Besuch in der Casa Don Camillo beinhalten. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und ganz besonders aufmerksam, das Ambiente ist stilvoll und zum wohlfühlen und wird von vielen Stammgästen frequentiert, die wie Freunde begrüßt werden. Die Speisen haben angemessene Preise, sind von hervorragender Qualität und kunstfertig zubereitet und präsentiert. An diesem Besuch war rein gar nichts auszusetzen und wird wiederholt! Mille Grazie!

I think the food there is very good. What really bothered me was the overall noise level in the restaurant. A relaxed conversation is not possible because, in my opinion, there are too many people in too small a space.

Immer wieder ein schönes Erlebnis

Sehr gute gehobene Küche in gemütlicher Atmosphäre und mit freundlichem Service.

Waren an einem Sonntag gegen 20 Uhr mit meinem Ehemann dort spontan Essen. Ich kenne das Don Camillo seit einigen Jahren, gemütlich gestaltetes Familien Unternehmen. Tolle Karte schönes Ambiente. Das Rumpsteak so wie die dazu gehörigen Beilagen waren sehr gut. Top Italienische Küche. Preislich etwas hoch aber noch in Ordnung.

Immer wieder besonders schön dort zu sein.

Schade - haben auf Empfehlung hin einen Tisch reserviert, und es war genau der runde Tisch direkt am Eingang. Dort wäre ein Zweier-Tisch eher angebracht als so ein runder Tisch, an dem man dann zu viert Platz nimmt. Wir wollten eigentlich in gemütlicher Atmosphäre die gelobten Steaks probieren, aber die Enge am Gang und das ewige Rein und Raus hat uns dann bewogen, zu Bruschetta und Pizza zu wechseln. Das hatte mehr den Charakter von Imbiss-Bude, wo man schnell irgendwas isst und wieder weg ist. Viel Rein und Raus kam zustande, weil alle Tische reserviert waren und Leute ohne Reservierung anfragten. Weihnachtsmarkt halt. Als wir schon bezahlt hatten aber noch nicht ausgetrunken, standen schon die nächsten Gäste direkt am Tisch, weil der ihnen versprochen war - also irgendwie schade. Gemütlichkeit sieht anders aus. Ansonsten - Bruschetta und Pizza waren gut, Bedienung freundlich und auch schnell. Da gab es nichts zu meckern.

Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt privat an einem Sonntagnachmittag. Lecker im Außenbereich gegessen. Bedienung aufmerksam und erreichbar. Carbonara, original italienisch ohne Sahne . Geschmacklich ein absoluter Traum. Der Aufenthalt hat unseren Sonntag absolut bereichert . Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder .

Das Essen war gut. Der Service sehr gut. Den Wein finde ich persönlich bei 1 cl zu teuer.

Preis - Leistung : Ungenügend Lasagne war Mini Portion . Bedinung war mit den zu betreuenden Tischen Überfordert . Lokal ist nicht empfehlenswert.

Eine Pizza so gut wie lange nicht mehr gegessen

Sehr gutes Essen zu guten Preisen! Klare Empfehlung zur Pizza Milanese.

Wir sind dorthin weil die Bilder im Internet sehr ansprechend waren. Fast alle Plätze waren belegt und wir waren zu 4 und gerade ist ein Tisch draußen frei geworden. Wir wollten wenige Zentimeter weiter mit dem Tisch da pralle sonne schien. Da kam die Bedinung und meinte in einem sehr unhöflichem Ton das ginge nicht. Naja wir haben uns am Ende rein gesetzt. Schönes Ambiente. Bis wir allerdings die Speisekarten hatten vergingen weitere 10min. Getränke kamen dann zwar verteilt aber recht zügig. Wir hatten Hunger und haben extra Pizza bestellt weil wir dachten es geht schneller. Haben leider sehr lange auf unser essen gewartet. Pizza war gut. Gläser waren leer und es wurde nicht ein mal gefragt ob wir noch etwas möchten. Eine sehr junge Bedienung wurde von den älteren Damen nur rumkommandiert das sie einem leid tat. Alles in allem nicht sehr gastfreundlich. Den Inhabern sollte bewusst sein, dass der Service das Aushängeschild eines Restaurants ist. Dieser war sehr Unprofessionell und genervt. Würde deshalb nicht wieder kommen.

Heerlijk gegeten mooie wijn en ambiance. Helaas vonden we de bediening wat slapjes, onze glazen waren leeg, er werd ons niet gevraagd voor nieuw. We moesten zelf vragen om de desertkaart en ook de rekening liet op zich wachten. Onze ervaring met het eten waar we enorm van hebben genoten en graag een tip wilde geven veranderde aan het einde zonder tip. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nachdem man das Restaurant betritt wird man erstmal 5 min ignoriert da dass Personal lieber Rauchen geht… Als man dann begrüßt wurde, war das Essen auch so langsam verpackt… Das Rumpsteak für 30€ ist ein Witz das Fleisch hat Discounter Qualität [durchwachsen, zäh und schlechter Geschmack] und mit einem guten Steak nichts zu tun darauf waren 5 Zwiebel Scheiben dass nennt man dann zwiebelsteak …. Die Pizza pepperoni war in Ordnung aber leider nix besonderes… Die Pizza Parma war einfach schlecht 80% des Schinken war so dermaßen trocken das man es kaum essen konnte. Die bruschetta war ok und vielleicht noch das beste Gericht… Alles in allem ist es ein Reinfall der Preis spiegelt leider die Qualität nicht wieder ich würde hier auch nicht mehr bestellen da weder essen noch Service überzeugen konnte.
