Die Speisekarte bietet eine beeindruckende Vielfalt an arabischen Spezialitäten. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die gegrillten Lammspieße, die mit Gemüse, Reis und hausgemachtem Brot serviert werden – ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus. Auch die Auswahl an vegetarischen und veganen Gerichten ist bemerkenswert, sodass für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist.  Der Service war ausgezeichnet: Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich, aufmerksam und steht bei Fragen gerne zur Verfügung. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Leidenschaft, mit der das Team arbeitet – man spürt, dass hier mit Herzblut gekocht und serviert wird. Ein weiteres Highlight ist das All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet, das eine breite Palette an orientalischen Köstlichkeiten bietet und regelmäßig neue Gäste begeistert. Die Wunderlampe wurde sogar in der Sendung “Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal” vorgestellt, was die Qualität und Beliebtheit des Restaurants unterstreicht.

Ich war vor paar Tage da die Atmosphäre ist super gestern schmeckt sehr lecker. Getränke sind sehr erfrischend die haben Wir saßen draußen in dem Biergarten super angenehm tolles Service weiter so

We came here for the first time...by chance) as we like Arabic and oriental food, just right for us. Excellent taste, good, not intrusive but always attentive service! We had the 2-course menu… really recommended! All in all... top!

Wir gehen regelmäßig in die Wunderlampe und sind jedes Mal aufs Neue von der Qualität des Essens begeistert. Es sind viele Details die das Essen abrunden, seien es die Gewürze oder Dips die zu den Speisen gereicht werden. Auch sehr zum empfehlen sind die selbstgemachten Drinks. Man sollte sich definitiv alle drei Gänge nicht entgehen lassen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und der Inhaber ein toller Gastgeber der sich auch Zeit nimmt,um sich mit den Gästen zu unterhalten. Haben sogar Tipps von ihm erhalten, wie wir unseren Lieblingsnachtisch zuhause nachmachen können. Also wer toll Essen gehen möchte und eine schöne Zeit haben möchte geht zur Wunderlampe. The dishes were delicious, the service professional and fast. The pleasant terrace with oriental musical background.

We took the 4 courses where the first course had 4 cold and 2 hot dishes, tasty and spicy, then immediately the main course which was also tasty, the sauce was more spicy than the starters and then the dessert to share which was not really our thing but was certainly not bad. If you like spicy food, this is a must.

Delicious food and lots of choice for vegetarians.

The menu was generally too seasoned. Some of the food arrived at the table already cooled down. There is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of taste. The menus need to be cleaned daily as an unpleasant film of grease has already formed on them. The restaurant's shine is gone.

We liked it very much. The service was great, the food tasted great. We can't understand the complainers... We, a family with 2 adult children (good eaters), took food home with us and everyone enjoyed it. We had the 2 course menu, various starters, flatbread (which were explained when we ordered) and main course (chicken/beef skewers, vegetables, rice, potatoes, fries. It was all so delicious, it's a shame that we live over 200km away. A small deduction because the restaurant was more rustic than oriental...but they made the best of it and we wanted to eat well and not live there. Thanks again for the great food

We had the oriental dinner (2 course menu). Cold, very tasty ere starters with a sumptuous main course of beef, lamb and chicken. Everything is absolutely delicious and extremely rich, meaning you will definitely be full!!!

The food was great. The service, as always, was very reserved and distant. Only 1 star for the ambience because it was incredibly cold in the restaurant. We would have liked to have stayed a little longer and had something to drink, but it was just too cold.

The service seems very accommodating. The atmosphere is very relaxing and cozy (especially the outdoor area). We really liked the selection of drinks (the homemade fruit drinks are really delicious). The food is very well seasoned, the skewers are very tasty and the large selection of dips tastes very well with the meat. There is definitely an oriental feeling here on a culinary level. Overall, the restaurant is very convincing and leaves a good impression as a whole. I think the price is a bit excessive for the quantity, but the taste neutralizes this point of criticism.

We are currently fasting, carnival until Easter. A visit was perfect, Vegetarian and alcohol-free. The food was great, had the 2 course veggie menu. Service was very nice, you can pay by card and also give tips this way (this has also been reversed since Corona). A small point deduction, because the toilet once again deserves some “attention” in the form of color. But it was clean. All in all, a recommendable thing ☺️thank you! PS: We have to eat meat again 🤩

We have eaten here several times, the food has always been very tasty, the portions are generous and the menu offers a good selection of delicious oriental dishes. Unfortunately they don't offer Ayran, which would go very well as a drink with the meat dishes. It makes sense to order in advance as the restaurant is busy.

The waiting time is almost 45 minutes, which is too long if there are only two people in front of you and you have to prepare two dishes. Service seems overwhelmed and is unfortunately inattentive. Food is edible, but unfortunately bland (Germanized), unfortunately it doesn't taste like it does in the Orient. Overall disappointing after all the positive reviews we have read here.

Prices too expensive and you have to wait forever for your food even though there wasn't much going on. For me it was ok, but nothing special. Service could be more attentive.

As always, the food was great and the quantities were more than sufficient. Service could have been a little more attentive. The music was a little too loud. But all in all, highly recommended. We love it and would love to come back again and again.

The food is good, but it was only lukewarm, a shame. It definitely would have tasted better hot. Service was barely existent and not attentive. We waited a long time to order and to be cleared and eat, even though there wasn't much going on. It was better in the summer when the outdoor terrace was full. Overall, this visit was unfortunately rather disappointing!

The price-performance ratio isn't right, the food wasn't worth it. It was cold, and I ordered things but forgot to bring them with me. It's a shame, but I won't be back.

Ich war aufgrund der vielen guten Bewertungen dort. Leider kann ich diese nicht nachvollziehen. Vielleicht war ich auch im falschen Restaurant (Ironie off). Alleine die uralte, billig wirkende und überhaupt nicht authentische Einrichtung lässt keinerlei Wohlfühlatmosphäre aufkommen. Aber die Hoffnung, es würde besser werden war aufgrund der Bewertungen da. Wurde aber leider nicht erfüllt. Ich finde es ein absolutes Unding, dass die Bedienung (Kellner möchte ich garnicht schreiben) in normaler Straßenkleidung (Hoodie, dreckige Schuhe,…) arbeitet. Das gehört sich einfach nicht und ist unhygienisch. Die Speisekarte fühlte sich speckig und klebrig an. Ob‘s nur am Material lag, keine Ahnung. Sie war eher passend für einen Imbiss statt ein Restaurant. Das Essen (zwei Vorspeisen und ein Hauptgericht) kamen sehr schnell und hatten leider, bis auf die Schälchen bzw. Teller wenig mit authentischer, schmackhafter orientalischer Küche zu tun. Leider waren alle Gerichte sehr trocken. Zum lieblos präsentierten Humus gab es kaltes und festes Chubz. Die Lammfrikadellen waren geschmacklich fad und bestanden größtenteils aus der trockenen Bulgurpanade. Als Verzierung lag auf dem Teller geraspelte Karotte sowie gräulicher Rotkohl. Als Hauptgang hatte ich die drei gegrillten Hähnchenspieße, welche alles andere als ein positiver ‚Sinnesrausch‘ waren. Das Hähnchen war einfach nur staubtrocken. Schade um das Tier, welches hierfür gestorben ist. Da fehlt jeglicher Respekt für das Produkt. Wenn ich meine Beilage schon Wunderlampenkartoffeln nenne, dann müssen die einen umhauen. Haben sie auch, jedoch leider negativ. Trocken, labberig, fad. Und hierfür einen Euro extra zu verlangen finde ich unverschämt. Abgerundet wurde die Präsentation auf dem Teller mit einem Viertel (!!!) verbrannter Tomate und einem rohem, drei Sekunden lang gegrilltem Stück grüne Peperoni. Der Dip war so geschmacklos, dass ich dazu gar nichts schreiben möchte. Bitte nicht falsch verstehen. Es mag Menschen geben, denen das Essen genauso schmeckt. Mir leider nicht und es war für mich nicht preiswert. Es war einfach seinen Preis nicht wert. Und wenn ein Tier stirbt um gegessen zu werden, dann behandle ich es mit Respekt und mache das beste daraus. Ansonsten lasse ich es. Noch eine Anmerkung zu den Getränken. Ja, der Eistee war lecker. Jedoch ist Sirup und Eis in ein Wasserglas schütten alles andere als Hausgemacht. Darunter verstehe ich was anderes. Die Getränke sind maximal frisch gemischt. Mehr aber auch nicht. Ich war alles in allem sehr enttäuscht und werde nicht wiederkommen. Und ich kann es leider auch nicht weiterempfehlen. Schade.

This was our second time here and both times the service was very friendly and quick, the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. The non-alcoholic cocktails are also great. We will definitely come back again, even if it is more than 200 km from home.

Starter variation with dips were very tasty. Main course also great. Dessert variation sweet, with almonds and nuts. Everything is typically oriental. Very friendly service. Will go again.

The food was excellent. I had lamb and the portion size was appropriate. And the side dishes are also beautifully grilled together with an excellent hummus in a separate bowl. My wife had chicken skewers which were also cooked perfectly. The only small drawback was that the music was a bit too loud and therefore no more background music. But that's also a matter of opinion. We just like things to be a little quieter.

I've been to "The Wunderlämpchen" in the city center several times and now for the first time to the "Wunderlampe" location. The dishes are almost equally well prepared and of great quality. The only thing that really bothered me was going to the toilet... dirty... worn out... somehow not comfortable. And about the ambience of the restaurant.....ok, I think it's great that old inns and their charm are preserved. BUT the style of an old inn decorated with craftsmanship, oak beams and paneling decorated with carpentry and carving....in combination with the oriental style.....sorry that definitely doesn't fit. This is much better in the little magic lamp.

Well... looks like an old pub that last saw daylight and color in 1970. The food is something different but nothing special. I don't know what people eat when they celebrate like that. Too expensive and too expensive .and let's be honest. I'm not stupid. T.k.ware is there too!

A true journey to the Orient! WORTH A TRY✌️

Authentic cuisine, pleasant atmosphere

Food is good as always, but we had to wait an hour for it, tables could be cleaned better, sticking quite a bit. Otherwise everything is OK so far

First I would like to say that I am not a guest who has to have everything perfect as long as the price-performance ratio is right. We ate at Wunderlampe for the first time today, unfortunately we are very disappointed. * It took a very long time until the order was even taken. * The waiting time between starter and main course was 1.5 hours. * the drinks (except apple juice spritzer) were not chilled * the ambience wasn't that special either (but that doesn't matter) *the food wasn't warm enough (almost cold) * everything is very very expensive, almost a rip-off * the prices are almost as high as in a 5 star restaurant. We ordered the 4 person platter, around €148-150. The quantity of skewers was, well, almost ok, but there was a lot of savings on the side dishes. A handful of rice and a few fries, the side dish was just enough for 1 person. The others just had to eat skewers that were almost too dry. If the price is €37 per person, then I think it's good that the side dish is enough for 4 people. So we definitely don’t recommend the restaurant. We were there for the first and last time. I'm aware that as a restaurant you can't/don't have to give anything away, but I don't think it's fair to the guests to charge such high prices for such food. Better to go to another restaurant. The taste of the dish was OK, but nothing extraordinary that you couldn't make at home (without a lot of effort).

Exactly what I expected, tasty food, amazing atmosphere and lovely waitstaff

Despite having a reservation, we had to stay 30 Wait minutes. After we still didn't get a table, we decided to leave. The waiters hand out packaged flatbread with their bare hands, right next to the entrance. That was the icing on the cake. Never again!

I had dinner in this restaurant today. I was blinded by the rating. I ordered an appetizer plate and a grill plate (chicken). Unfortunately, you weren't allowed to choose which starters you received. After about 35 minutes we got 3 pasties that tasted absolutely average, an overly acidic olive "salad" and 3 times the same dumplings with uninteresting (different) fillings. I also ordered a grill plate (chicken skewer). Some of the fries were cold and it was perhaps a children's portion. The meat was also tough, EXTREMELY dry and unmarinated. There was a maximum of salt and pepper on it. The meat was also largely burned. And who serves a grilled plate without salad these days? I also ordered iced tea peach and got an extremely sour slushy ice cream. For a starter plate + a grill plate and two drinks almost €60 is in my opinion absolutely inhumane. The service was nice. However, I will not enter this restaurant again.

The reservation can be made easily via the website. You will then receive a confirmation email including a .ics calendar file. It doesn't get any better. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and has a great ambience. The employees are very nice and accommodating. You never wait long if you want something, but in turn you don't get annoyed. We had the four course menu for two people. The meal was a real experience. The courses were brought to the table in perfect timing. The taste and appearance are extremely good. Every bite was a taste experience! The crowd was also perfect. We'd love to come back.

Hello dear community, We ate at the Wunderlampe today (January 10, 2025), unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. We had reserved a table for 8 p.m. and had to wait 30 minutes for a seat right at the beginning, despite having a reservation. A very courteous waiter brought us soup as a small apology, a great gesture, unfortunately the soup was only lukewarm and therefore only a sobering compensation. The tragedy began after we had to wait another half hour for our starter. After we had finished with the starter and several tables that had started at the same time as us had already finished their main course, our main course finally arrived after another 40 minutes, but it was not what we ordered. In addition, after such a long wait, we no longer had any appetite, so the main course remained virtually untouched. This was our last visit to this disorganized restaurant. LG

Really a unique oriental experience...Starting with the run-down location, I couldn't convince myself how the waiter quite obviously kept pulling the Arabic bread out of the shrink-wrapped Good and Cheap bag and throwing the peels away. The bread isn't even grown or anything else what.My partner had the clay pot with chicken which really consisted of 30g of chicken and mostly green beans from the jar. This fun alone cost almost €20. I had it Beef skewers with rice and it was by far the worst thing I've ever eaten outside. Even if I don't fully understand how you could go wrong with it. At any kebab the food would have been prepared better and would have cost 1/3. This shop is In my opinion it's a disgrace and I can't understand how anyone can be enthusiastic about it unless you like fried dumplings or canned food at overpriced prices....

Nice restaurant near the centre of Trier (15-20m by foot). The food was good and the service amazing: kind waiters (especially the one with the glasses), super fast service, they brought us other bread and sauces when ours were finished. I would really suggest this restaurant for informal occasions. Very original and nice drinks.

The food was much better a few years ago. I always think it's a shame when the standard of the kitchen falls.

Hoping to feel like we were in 1000 and 1 Nights, we were unfortunately disappointed. I had imagined the ambience to be even more cozy, bare wooden walls (it was probably a rustic restaurant before). Only a few beautiful, colorful crystal lamps reminded us of the Orient. We had to wait about 1 hour for the food. And when the food came, unfortunately it wasn't very tasty. The lamb kebabs, which were supposed to be juicy, were firm and chewy. I also reported this to the waitress. There was no apology either, just an excuse. All in all, our visit, which was not cheap by the way, was very disappointing! Too bad!!!

Food freshly prepared and very tasty. The homemade lemonades are to die for and not too sweet. The service staff is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere could be nicer. In its current state it is still very reminiscent of the old “Handelshof”, which the older people of Trier certainly still know. Also important: the toilets are very clean.

2022: Thoroughly recommended! The two of us had a really good meal there (once vegan and once omnivorous, each starter and main course). The service is very friendly, courteous and quick. Price-performance ratio absolutely fine. If we come to Trier again, we would like to go there again. 2024: still great!!! We were completely satisfied the second time too.

The interior is not that fancy but very enjoyable. The food is very good and a lot. We took the 4 course diner. Both hot and cold entrie are served simultaenious but that's ok. They are a bit like tapas. The main course is a big wooden plat with loads of meat and rice and/or potatoes depending on what you want. The desert are typical oriental. We had a very good diner, to much for us. The non-alcoholic cocktailt 'Gazelle was an excellent aperitif.

On December 26th, 2024 we were in the magic lamp again after a long time. Unfortunately we were not satisfied, which was mainly due to the service. The main courses were served before we received our starters. It was impossible to reorder drinks. Nobody came to the table to ask. We thought it was a shame that the selection of tagines had been significantly reduced.

Everything was great except the waiting time was way too long. We waited almost an hour for our food. Other guests who came after us quickly received their food. Otherwise everything was great.

Since we were there on Christmas Day, it unfortunately took a little long to eat. The ambience could be made even nicer. Otherwise highly recommended.

The starters are really delicious, lovingly prepared, something special. The whole thing is then topped again with the grill plate! Five stars fully deserved!

There's no oriental flair to be found, the prices are high, the atmosphere is cold, I don't have to go there anymore... since there's no alcohol, everyone should decide for themselves whether they want to drink something or not........ .

Actually great service, only one of the service staff chatted with two women at a table for 15 minutes, even though the restaurant was full and other guests besides us were waiting in the immediate vicinity to place their orders. The other two service staff worked their feet sore to take orders and bring the ordered food to the tables. Only when the service person received a call did he get back to the actual work. I don't want to have someone like that as a colleague. But the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was great too.

Food was okay so far but unfortunately I expected much better from the 4 course menu. The price of €95 for two people with a drink is far too much for the food. Dessert/baklava can be much better and black tea with a filter doesn't work at all. A semaver would be appropriate.

We had a lovely evening with great food. Above all, the starters and the dessert were a poem....the main course was also very good, but unfortunately only lukewarm....but definitely highly recommended!!

We would be left standing at the entrance for quite a long time. The lemonades were very tasty, I thought the food was pretty average. In summer the atmosphere on the terrace is certainly very nice!

Very tasty oriental restaurant with a large selection that we can absolutely recommend. The two of us had 7 starters and a tajine as main courses, one vegetarian and one with lamb. Both were super tasty and authentic We will definitely come back next time we are in Trier

We visited the magic lamp on Saturday evening with a guest who is a vegetarian. Only possible with reservation. Despite the restaurant being completely full, the service was pleasantly relaxed and prompt, and the food we ordered arrived in a reasonable time and without delay. There are incredibly delicious (non-alcoholic) cocktails and the food is very varied and tastes excellent! Also highly recommended for vegetarians, as the selection of vegetarian dishes is very large and they also taste very aromatic and delicious. A wonderful evening! Many thanks to the team!

Very nice cozy restaurant. I was really pleasantly surprised. The food was really well seasoned and therefore very tasty. I would be happy to go there again and recommend it to others.

The starters were very tasty. Unfortunately the food for my wife was too spicy. The minced meat skewers had two levels of spiciness, which the waiter unfortunately forgot to mention, which is why my wife burned her mouth right at the beginning. Unfortunately, the service is stressful All in all it was a nice evening. We would love to come back and try out more dishes.

Rarely eaten so deliciously. We had the menu of starters, main course and dessert. Vegetarian and with meat. Really really good. Unfortunately we didn't manage to do everything. There were 7 of us and had several menus combined. Portions were generous. The lemonades were freshly made and very tasty. The service was friendly. But had a lot to do. The restaurant was full. Reservations in advance are recommended.

The food was good and tasty. But it was all delivered too fast to our tablet. We just had our first drinks and the first course was served, together with the second course. And while still eating, the main course was placed on our table. When cleaning our table after we finished, they wanted to place the dessert. We asked for more time to let the food settle, after 5 minutes they asked again, and another 5 minutes later they just placed it on our table. Never we were aked for second drinks. Personel was not very friendly, overall.

So there were 4 of us eating there. The service was terrible, there was no beer because alcohol is a sin, but the waiter smoked a cigarette in front of the window (what a hypocrite). The food was lukewarm and the portions were absolutely not enough for main courses but relatively expensive. Given that this place was so advertised it was an absolute flop, I will neither recommend it nor eat there again.

So I actually think it's bad that there is no alcohol. Everyone should decide for themselves whether they want to drink something or not I would have expected more from the food Oriental spices etc.. Freshness More or less very entt

The dish was a bit cold and the chicken was too dry for it being grilled. Other than that, the taste was pretty good.

We were there with 4 people and had the 4 course menu for €37 per person. With a menu like this I always think it's great that you can try everything. For starters there were always two of some dishes, so we always halved them so that each of us could try them. The main course was also very tasty and a lot. With the 4-course menu, the dessert could be a little larger for 4 people so that everyone has something from each other, so we halved everything again. The atmosphere is very cozy and nice. The service was very friendly and polite. We would love to come back.

The place look ok but you’re sitting on a wooden bench with no pillows. The starters are quite small and not really what I’m use to in other Middle Eastern restaurants. The meat was very good and the portion was enough. Good service. Unfortunately no Arabic coffee ( with cardamom) for desert . A bit pricy.

The restaurant was very busy, so despite having a reservation we had to wait until a table became available. But then everything went quickly. We were served in a friendly and professional manner. The food was excellent all round and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. The only thing that failed miserably was coffee with milk. But that didn't detract from the successful dining experience. Thanks to the entire team for this culinary highlight!!

Hello, once again in the magic lamp for dinner. Hummus is very good and absolutely recommended. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. The waiter came across as a bit rushed. Conclusion: We would love to come back. It's best to reserve a table online.

We had a mix of delicious starters: baba ganoush, hummus, pepper tapenade, stuffed pastries with chicken, cheese and beef and a salad served with bread. All were very tasty and a real treat. Our main dish were very nice and spicy lambskewers with vegetables, bread, some rice and fries (odd for a Middle Eastern kitchen). It is also a bit strange that the dishes' names are so strange (baba ganous and hummus are not called that way).

We ate very well and were given exemplary advice about any intolerances. Very friendly and committed team!

The service was very friendly and attentive, the food was very tasty, sometimes with different spices than in German cuisine. We sat in the small next room, it was very comfortable and not so loud. I also like to drink a good glass of wine with a good meal. Unfortunately there are no alcoholic drinks in the magic lamp. But I can accept that and would be happy to come back.
