I've rarely had such delicious food. A very wide selection for vegetarians and vegans, too. The portions are very generous, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended

We wanted to try something new. We hadn't had Syrian food before. The selection was good. We decided on two different lamb dishes. One of the lamb dishes was very dry, and the other dish was partially charred. Everything took far too long, even though it didn't seem that busy. Everything took forever. I don't need that a second time. That's a good way to lose the tip. What a shame.

Was there for the first time yesterday. The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and the meat was very tender. The service could be improved. It seemed uncoordinated. I'll be back.

Hello everyone! Here are my experiences yesterday at this restaurant in the city center near Nikolaiort in Osnabrück: We (a good friend and I) were able to dine there as guests, and we have to say: it was an excellent choice!!! Every star should be awarded twice or even triple! And I wholeheartedly do this! As a half-Iranian on my father's side, I've been familiar with oriental cuisine since I was a child, along with Scandinavian and German on my mother's side. But here, the superlatives are practically piling up, depending on the food! Up until now, I've almost only eaten Thai food in Osnabrück at the Ban Thai restaurant near me, among other places. This is also highly recommended if you like Thai or Far Eastern food and know and appreciate the difference between fast-food Chinese takeaways and fine-dining Far Eastern cuisine. But back to the "Laterne": on the recommendation of the knowledgeable staff, we tried the chicken biryami (No. 31) with plenty of basmati rice as our main course, and we were extremely satisfied. Everything that belongs to an oriental main course was plentiful and well-portioned: well-seasoned chicken pieces, as mentioned, served with plenty of rice on a large wooden platter with cucumber salad in yogurt sauce and baked tomatoes with sauce: everything was exquisite beyond compare! For starters, we had flatbread with three different, correspondingly sized containers of hummus, yogurt condiment, and another oriental condiment (baba ghanouk), which was spicy and delicious, but had been previously unknown to either of us. An original Syrian coffee, served in a small oriental cup with a small glass of water, rounded off this very pleasant evening! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LATERNE, for the excellent service and great dishes! You were and are great! Hopefully, you will stay in Osnabrück for a long time, and that Osnabrück will become more diverse and grow accordingly with its cultural challenges! As a former German studies graduate, I couldn't resist a little dig at the staff: As I previously noticed, among other things, you write "non-alcoholic drinks" exactly like this: "Drinks" in capital letters on the website, please! (ha, ha!) As I said: my Arabic would probably be a lot poorer, or rather, poorer, compared to my written and spoken German. But you can always learn more about the language, since you never completely stop learning, and you run such an upscale restaurant with a fitting ambiance and great service! Thank you again!! PS: I came on the recommendation of another guest, who also really enjoyed (likely tasted) your food.

We thought it was really great the first time, but after that, the quality dropped considerably, unfortunately... In addition to the rather poor quality, the prices have also risen considerably. I don't like the price-performance ratio at all, so unfortunately, I'm only giving it 3 stars, with a deduction in the B rating because the atmosphere outside isn't all that relaxing (beggars on the street).

Simply fantastic. We're from Bremen and weren't disappointed. The trip was definitely worth it. There were four of us, and all four were more than satisfied. Every dish, from starters to main courses, was incredibly delicious. The service was also top-notch. The waitress, Aycin, was also so lovely. She served us super friendly and quickly the entire evening. The four of us really enjoyed the evening and would definitely recommend the Laterne.

I was on a trip to Osnabrück and needed something to eat. I saw that this restaurant had a lot of customers, so I got curious and wanted to try the food here. When I say the food here is great, I mean it. The service was really good and nice. The decorations were really nice. I recommend that you eat here if you are ever in Osnabrück.

We ordered through Lieferando. Unfortunately, the order was canceled after a two-hour wait. The phone was very difficult to reach. The staff was unwilling to accommodate us and deliver the food. Not recommended.

We ordered four dishes via Lieferando. Unfortunately, even after two hours, nothing arrived. The Laterne team was almost impossible to reach by phone. After numerous calls, someone completely incompetent finally answered the phone, and the order was suddenly canceled entirely, even though the food was supposedly ready. Disappointing!

Highly recommended if you like Middle Eastern Arabic cuisine. It was very nice and SUPER delicious 😋 The sharwarma was great and also highly recommended. We'd love to come back!!!

The worst food I have ever eaten in my life

The food is delicious but very salty. The place is different and the atmosphere is nice but unfortunately it is a bit dark. When we went in without knowing that we had to wait at the door, the employees reacted a bit exaggeratedly but later helped.

I highly recommend this restaurant. They offer Syrian-Middle Eastern cuisine, which I've never experienced before in such variety (in flavor) and quality. The service was super friendly and attentive – thank you, well done, Rama!

A very nice place, with regional decor. The dishes were delicious, without being overly generous. Slightly disappointed: they sell a "Black Forest" cake, surprised to receive vanilla ice cream with chocolate coulis and a few morello cherries. It's still a good place, though.

The Lantern is a Syrian restaurant which extends over two levels in a central location. The offering ranges from grilled dishes to vegetarian dishes and numerous dips, which you can enjoy while you wait for the main course to be prepared. Finally, I recommend a Syrian mocha with cardamom.

My partner and I always enjoy coming to eat with you. Unfortunately, we haven't always had good experiences with telephone orders: the pickup times were sometimes not adhered to, so we had to wait on site. This is probably because your restaurant is very popular and is often busy. If you find a solution here and telephone orders run more smoothly in the future, you definitely deserve the five stars! But the most important thing is: your food tastes excellent.

My husband and I went to Lantern Essen today and were very impressed! The food, music and service are great. You get great advice and the food is incredibly tasty. We would come again and again! A really big recommendation.

Delicious food but unclear prices. The food on site is super delicious! Unfortunately, the prices on the online menu didn't match what we had to pay when picking up. The employee just said 'Yes, the prices don't match, it costs more'. Unfortunately, the takeaway food had much smaller portions than on site. We also couldn't redeem a voucher when taking away, which I can't understand. I hardly had any cash with me and was only able to redeem the voucher after a long discussion. Overall recommended because of the food, but the pricing and voucher policy should be improved!

The two of us had dinner at “Die Laterne” restaurant on a Friday evening. The food was so delicious that I had to write a review about it. We had a falafel halloumi plate and my husband a specialty with eggplant and lamb, we were absolutely delighted with both dishes. The service is also great, attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is authentic and pleasant. A very clear recommendation. Thank you for making Syrian cuisine so tasty for us. PS: It's a shame that the restaurant isn't in the Frankfurt area.

I was in OS with my colleague for work and the "Lanterne" was recommended to us by three women. We enjoyed the delicious food and the friendly service. Only the music, which was unusual for our ears, was a bit too loud for us. We can also recommend this restaurant to people with mobility restrictions, as the disabled toilet is on the ground floor and spacious. We would be happy to come back!

No matter what you eat, I have never been disappointed. Spent a lovely evening with delicious and visually appealing food. Attentive friendly service. Only the background noise is a bit loud.

Too bad. I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. But let's start at the beginning. Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our food because the order (meat mix platter for 2 people) hadn't arrived in the kitchen. The food was only taken care of after we asked. Actually, the waiter should have realized that everyone else around us had already had their food. We did receive a free starter - it wasn't necessarily to our taste, but that's the only reason we get 2 stars for the service. When the food finally came, half the plate was burnt and inedible. The only response to our feedback was: “The food always comes from the kitchen, because the chicken has to be cooked through and from the charcoal grill it is always “black” and burnt.” They then wanted to buy us dessert, but we declined it and ordered the bill. We still received dessert - but no bill. We had to request this again and were finally able to leave - after paying 60 euros (the full price) for the dish alone. We received two 10% vouchers for our next visit. A nice gesture - but we probably won't come back.

Was there for the first time and I was thrilled. We had a meat platter for 2 people. It was beautifully served with rice, dip and a special salad (I don't know what it's called) on a wooden board. The rice was very fluffy and the meat was tender. We also drank ginger tea and Syrian raki. What I really didn't like was that the tea was served in white cups with this Zanzibar logo, which really fit into the ambience of Sylt. And the raki in old school cola/rum glasses like the ones you used to get at the disco. There's definitely something nicer out there But that's just a personal feeling. The food, the service and everything else counts and that was great.

For €22.90 for a main course, I expect to be full and not leave the restaurant hungry. The falafel are very tasty and all the dishes taste very good, but the prices are not proportionate.

It wasn't our first time in the lantern. The food is very, very tasty. Unfortunately, some things sell out very quickly, so you have to be lucky on the day. We were here on a Saturday. It was full all the time. The small negative point is that we had to wait a long time between courses, but everyone was very nice and accommodating. The burak starters are very good and the vegetarian platter is also highly recommended. We really recommend the Kunafe dessert if you still have room. It's best to drink a coffee or something similar that isn't particularly sweet. You should also definitely try the oriental soft drinks. We would love to come back, but after Christmas.

Not even one star for this restaurant, the staff was so bad, unfriendly, we had to wait 30 minutes for the cards. After we wanted to order something to drink, the waiter raised his hand and told us to wait because not everyone was ready and if the others didn't come right away, we wouldn't get anything to eat at 7.30 p.m. We got up and left and the waiter came afterwards to give us his opinion, never again

We were there in the evening with a group of 5 people. Had previously reserved a table online. That also worked without any problems. When we arrived I wanted to tell the waitress that a few of us were arriving a little later and wanted to know if we should still sit down. They didn't let me finish and just told us where to go. At some point there were the cards. I wanted to say that again but the service left so quickly that I couldn't say anything. At some point she came and wanted to take the order. Then I told her that we're not ready yet. She walked away annoyed. She then came every 5 minutes and wanted to take the order. You couldn't even look at the map in peace. At some point we ordered. We had to wait quite a long time for our food, which I still understand. But we also had to wait forever for our drinks. I have no understanding of that. While we were eating, two different people took turns coming in and kept asking if everything was okay. You hardly got a chance to have a quiet conversation. When we wanted to order drinks we could hardly get them to the table. It took half an eternity until the two rounds of drinks arrived. We sat right next to the counter and saw that our drinks were already ready. Only no one brought them to the table. When the other employee pointed out the drinks to the waitress, she looked really annoyed and complained to herself. I have no idea if it's always like that or if she was stressed that evening, but that's not possible. Then you shouldn't work in catering if you can't handle stress. Her behavior and body language made me feel very uncomfortable. When I paid she was annoyed again because I didn't have any cash with me and you can't pay with a card. So I had to ask my companions if they could explain it to me. That took a moment. Apparently too long for her. For the first time in my life, I didn't tip at all. Which I find quite a shame, as I know only too well that this industry lives partly from tips. About the food: I had hummus which was quite runny and not tasty either. The main course was a shawarma with Pommer (potato slices) and salad. The cucumber slices were already past their best. The shawarma was very tasty but at almost €20 per plate it was simply overpriced. I was there for the first and last time.

Very tasty and visually appealing food. In addition to the classic dishes that you already know from Lebanese cuisine, there is also a good selection of Syrian specialties. The service staff was very nice and the food was served quickly. It was a bit of a shame that they started clearing the table even though not everyone had finished eating yet. This made it a bit uncomfortable.

Wir fanden es richtig lecker. Die Portionen sind groß. Leider war im Magen nur Platz für Vor- und Hauptgang. Aber wir konnten uns das Dessert einpacken lassen um es später zu Hause zu genießen.

We had dinner there with 5 people on a Saturday evening. Luckily we had reserved a table. Without the reservation we wouldn't have gotten a table. The selection of dishes is very large, there is something for every taste. For us it was the first time we ate there. We were very excited. But, it was all very, very tasty. From the starter, the main courses, the cocktail and the homemade lemonade. The service was top. The young lady was under a lot of stress, but she was super friendly and always asked if everything was still there. We were also pleasantly surprised at how much everything cost together. We had a very nice evening there and will definitely be happy to come back.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, the food is delicious. But unfortunately nothing more. It seems to be very much about profit. The kitchen and the service cannot adequately serve the many tables that are packed close together. Everything takes a little too long, so it just spoils the impression in the end. My food was very hot as it was an over-baked dish. My companion's platter of meat was clearly too cold and still burnt in places. I don't think the prices match the quality of the restaurant. I wouldn't eat here again and wouldn't recommend the lantern.

Were already in the lantern on December 29th, 2024. Unfortunately, the kitchen cannot cope with the number of tables. We were happy to wait over an hour for our dishes because we really like oriental cuisine with all its flavors. However, when our food came to the table, our joy was quickly diminished. The mixed platter for two wasn't really hot and was still mostly burnt. In retrospect, it wouldn't be worth €59, even if it was in good condition. The ambience is nice but not good. Somehow we felt it was “mass processing”.

Restaurant Laterne – A culinary oasis with warm service. The food was simply fantastic – delicious and creatively prepared. I would particularly like to highlight the service from Aycin and co., who made the evening perfect with their friendliness and attentiveness. A small suggestion for improvement: Please don't serve the Ayran in a cola glass, that just doesn't fit with the otherwise great ambience and style of the restaurant. You have such beautiful glasses otherwise ;-). Overall, I can highly recommend Restaurant Laterne and look forward to our next visit!

Unfortunately, the service that evening was totally overwhelmed. Food without cutlery, drinks forgotten, dishes only cleared when asked, etc. The food was basically OK, except for the cold ducats. Solid ambience.

Unfortunately a disappointment - very poor service in the Lantern My visit to Die Lantern restaurant was a big disappointment. The service was terrible - inattentive and slow. We had to wait over an hour for our food which is completely unacceptable. The drinks only came when specifically requested and took far too long. While other tables were served more quickly, the staff seemed uninterested in looking after us. The long wait and lack of service completely overshadowed the otherwise passable taste of the food. You don't expect this level of service in a restaurant. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Die Lantern and will probably not come back in the future.
