Rustic, cozy atmosphere. A little cramped, but not uncomfortable yet. In winter you don't need to dress warmly in there, otherwise you'll sweat, which is also due to the hot lava stones on which the steaks are served. The potatoes and steak were excellent! Even our two children (6 and 8) ate all of the meat, which is saying something. The service was also great, friendly and accommodating. The prices are already high, but they match the quality. What's very bad is that there were no direct parking spaces nearby as it is located in the middle of the one-way street in the historic city center. You have to take this into account when traveling from further away.

The oven/grill potato arrived very carelessly prepared. My partner's steak was ok. But the price just wasn't there justified at €39 I think €8.10 for 2 stuffed mushrooms is just too much. All in all it was ok but I wouldn't recommend it. Price-performance doesn't fit here for me.

Incomprehensible in terms of price! Food was okay but not really much. The ambience is actually very nice, but the background noise is almost unbearable (vaulted cellar). Conclusion you can make. But I wouldn't recommend it!

The cellar vault is breathtakingly beautiful! 1. stuffed mushroom, very tasty! 1. Potato soup, very spicy and delicious 2. baked potatoes with sour cream and herbs, well! 2. baked potato with red cocktail cream and. green peppercorns, tastes like intense spicy ketchup, not very tasty! Both dishes described are exceptional, initially delicious, then overpowering and finally disgusting! Both sauces are too intense and we could only eat half of them! Staff is quite monotonous. After eating and returning half the potato, there was no question as to whether it was tasty. All in all, for total € 51, - not a successful evening! It's a shame, we had good feelings - for the first and now probably the last time.

Exceptional quality! Probably the best sirloin steak I've ever eaten. Everything is homemade here, we were very impressed.

The restaurant is spacious and has terrace seating. Meat grilled on a bedrock is tender and juicy. Sour cream with roasted potatoes is definitely delicious. The customer service from the staff is also great.

I get the concept of hot stone and meat but still don't understand why I should pay so much to prepare meat myself and get the heat of 400° stone in my face, there is no option to just order a medium rare steak.

Six of us had reserved a table before a concert. Worked wonderfully. First of all: there is nothing to complain about the quality of the food, but it is incomprehensible that you have to wait 80 minutes for a raw piece of meat (grilled yourself on a hot stone) with baked potatoes (which are definitely pre-cooked). Well the shop was full, I think all the tables were reserved, maybe the processes should be optimized. There were two ladies in service taking orders, one very friendly and one - well let's say less friendly. When we asked if we could have some more water, the answer was: not now, I'm busy right now. An absolute no-go for a restaurant!!! This and the long waiting time annoyed us.

Rustic restaurant in a 17th century building. Rather simple menu, but all dishes (there were seven of us) are very good. The steaks from the hot stone, which you prepare yourself at the table, are special. But even something as simple as baked potato with sour cream tasted exceptionally good.

A very stylish restaurant. Being able to make your own steak is nice. Beer is what it is, but you can definitely drink it. Unfortunately, it ends at 10 p.m., although one could stay longer now in the summer.

Great place to get a steak. You won't get one served like this in the US! Great food and fun friendly staff. You must eat here!! Old style restaraunt with very awesome staff and great service and the food is great! Your stomach will thank you! One of my all time favorite restaraunts anywhere in the world.

Well, it's been many years since I was last there. I ordered a chevre chaud salad. I was disappointed. A small bowl with just a green salad and on a very small plate two slices of white bread with two slices of goat cheese each. The goat cheese was good, but I found it bland and uncreative. €14.90 for this is not justified. My partner had a mini sirloin steak on the hot stone with a baked potato. That was okay. For dessert he ordered apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and cream. I didn't expect homemade ice cream anyway, but it wasn't good ice cream either. The strudel wasn't homemade and the cream came from a can. Too bad!

We ordered the rump steak on the hot stone. A baked potato with sour cream and a side salad are served with it. I think the idea of ​​using a hot stone to finish cooking your meat at the table is great. The meat was very tender and of good quality. The baked potato was overloaded with sour cream and didn't taste particularly good, and the salad dressing was unfortunately disappointing. We were really looking forward to the desserts, but they were an absolute failure. The apple strudel was warmed up in the microwave and had a rubbery consistency. A potato pancake with peach and ice cream for a whopping 12 euros turned out to be a mountain of cream with salty, not homemade potato pancakes with a canned peach. The desserts were really something to break the habit of. The mountain of cream looked as if they wanted to cover up what was hidden underneath. I found the service to be not particularly attentive and not very warm.

Super great authentic restaurant. The specialty, as the name suggests, is potatoes, which taste 100x better than if you make them yourself at home. However, there is still something special and that is the meat in the hot stone. You get the piece seared very briefly on both sides and can then cook it yourself on the hot stone the way you like it best. A baked potato with sour cream is also served. The restaurant is more like an old barn, so it's quite dark inside, but cozy. The service is exceptionally good. The young gentleman explains, for example: happy to help you bring the stone, how to do it best and is generally very attentive and courteous. Clear recommendation, always happy.

This steak is outstanding, simply great. We decided on the fillet, great. The two young ladies were super nice and friendly, just made you feel comfortable. Gladly again. A big compliment to the whole team

Wir waren mit Freunden dort. Tolles uriges Ambiente und super freundliches Personal. Das Essen war super und ein tolles Erlebnis das Fleisch selbst auf dem heißen Stein zuzubereiten! Apfelstrudel zum Nachtisch sowie die Weine waren auch klasse. Besonders cool: wir haben noch ein paar Kartoffeln geschenkt bekommen die übrig waren, da wir die letzten. Auch an nächsten Tag Qualität 1a! Wir kommen sehr sehr gerne wieder.

Ich war mit 2 Kolleginnen zum Weihnachts-Abendessen dort. Ambiente war gut bürgerliche und urig. Der Service war sehr angenehm aufmerksam, aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen war ein kleines Event mit dem heißen Stein und dem selbstbestimmenden Garpunkt des Fleisches. Ich hatte Lamm und dieses war sehr schmackhaft und zart. Der Preis war angemessen. Ich werde auf jedenfall mal wieder dort essen gehen. Reservieren ist aber ein muss!

Sehr kartoffeliges Restau im herrlichen Ladenburg. Überraschend: es gibt Kartoffeln. Sehr großartig auch: der heiße Stein. Man brät sein Fleisch selbst am Tisch. (Da geht man essen, und muss die Arbeit auch noch selbst machen!) Na, eigentlich macht sie der heiße Stein. 400 Grad. Nicht anfassen. Langer Rede kurzer Sinn (yep, nur so ist diese Wendung korrekt): sehr super hier. Tscheggedaut. Empfehlung!

Wir waren schon oft hier. Als Paar, als Familie, mit meinen Eltern, mit vielen Freunden. Allen hat es gefallen. Ich ernähre mich hauptsächlich vegetarisch, aber wer hier kein Steak isst, ist selber schuld. Am besten ein Rumpsteak, Hüftsteak oder Filet (die gibt es als 1 großes Stück). Den Kommentar des anderen Rezensenten kann ich bestätigen - mich hat auch gewundert, dass es keine großen Wasserflaschen gibt. Das ist bei uns Standard, wenn wir auch alkoholische Getränke bestellen. Dieser halbe Punkt Abzug wurde dadurch wettgemacht, dass am Silvesterabend alle Erwachsenen ein Glas Sekt auf Kosten des Hauses bekamen. Wir saßen als erste Gruppe unten im Keller. Danach kamen noch zwei Gruppen. Hier ist es ruhiger als oben. Als am Nebentisch alle 8 Personen gleichzeitig gegrillt haben, hat mich der Rauch kurz gestört. Fazit: Wir kommen wieder und bringen neue Gäste mit.

Wir wollten uns einen gemütlichen Abend nach einer langen Autofahrt machen, leider war dieses nicht möglich. Es war wie eine Massenabfertigung. Wir waren ganz genau 40 Minuten im Restaurant. Ruck Zuck wurden die Gerichte gebracht. Da man sein Fleisch auf dem heißen Stein serviert bekommt, muss man es wahnsinnig schnell essen. Es sei denn man mag es dann total durchgebraten und zäh. Der Preis ist schon sehr ordentlich dafür dass die ja noch nicht mal einen Koch benötigen. Die Kartoffel war nichts besonderes. Die Soßen und der Salat sind Fertigprodukte. Die Bedienung hat aus ihrer Sicht, sich mehr als bemüht. Wir können die Kartoffel nicht weiter empfehlen.

Bedienung super freundlich und aufmerksam. Bestellung schnell aufgenommen, Getränke, Vorspeisen und Hauptgang kamen alle zeitnah. Essen war top. Hatte eine gemischte Steinplatte. Fleisch qualitativ sehr gut und auch gut gesalzen und gepfeffert. Die Kartoffellsuppe als Vorspeise ist zur kalten Jahreszeit genau das Richtige! Ambiente super gemütlich und rustikal. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Einzig kleiner Kritikpunkt: Die Belüftung könnte besser sein. Da die meisten Gäste am Tisch ihr Fleisch grillen, nimmt die Sauerstoffqualität schnell ab. Doch man darf nicht vergessen, dass es Altbau ist und das Haus seit mehreren Jahrhunderten besteht. Das macht auch den Charme aus. Komme gerne wieder und kann es jedem empfehlen! Auch für Vegetarier/Veganer was dabei.

Das Essen War gut. Der Platz war unbequem. Das Lüftungssystem ist Schlecht. Ein Cooles Experiment.

Schönes Lokal. Schade, dass das Wildfleisch nicht so zart wie erwartet war. Die Beilage einfach eine grosse Kartoffel mit viel Sauerrahm. Die Saucen zum Fleisch waren hingegen super fein.

Ein super Restaurant wenn nicht sogar eins der besten in Ladenburg! Es ist zwar nicht ganz billig aber dafür richtig lecker! Wenn man Ladenburg im Winter besucht ist dieses Restaurant ein muss!

In un villaggio storico bellissimo questo ristorante in una casa bellissima e molto antica. Locale caldo e tipico. Tavoli molto vicini. Personale che parla inglese. Carne eccezionale presentata sulla pietra. Accompagnamento con una patata al cartoccio con panna acida eccellente. Abbiamo provato la zuppa di patata, eccezionale. E' evidente che questo è un locale dove gustare la patata e non solo. Ottima birra. Servizio eccellente e puntuale, quando siamo andati c'erano due cameriere, ma, nonostante il locale affollato, non è sfuggito nulla. Tavola preparata senza fronzoli. Meglio prenotare, perché sarebbe un peccato perdere sia il ristorante sia il paese. Se in loco ci si dimentica il nome, è sufficiente andare su internet e digitare "steakhouse a ladeburg"

Das Essen war o.k. Ansonsten machte es den Eindruck eines Touristenrestaurants mit entsprechenden Preisen.

Cooles Lokal in der Umgebung Mannheim, das Ambiente ist etwas rustikal gehalten, passt aber gut, wenn man Lust auf Steak hat. wir hatten zwei mal Rinderfilet zum (selbst fertig braten). Es macht Spaß und man kann das Fleisch praktisch selbst auf die gewünschte Garstufe bringen. Einziger Nachteil dabei, im Gastraum liegt der BRAT Geruch in der Luft. Muss man mögen. Ein Besuch ist das Lokal aber wert.

Ich gehöre eigentlich nicht zu der Sorte Mensch, die immer und überall negative Erfahrungen kundtun muss, aber leider sehe ich mich hier gezwungen, einen kleinen Kommentar zu verfassen. Nach einem Besuch auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt wollten wir einkehren, um noch etwas „Ordentliches“ und nicht nur Weihnachtsmarkt-Snacks zu essen. Leider sind wir dann an „Die Kartoffel“ geraten, was einen meiner schlechtesten Restaurantbesuche darstellt. Als Kind einer Gastrononomenfamilie hat man schon ein Auge für Vieles, doch auch Laien fällt ein Urteil hier nicht schwer: schlechter und unprofessioneller Service, 08/15-Gerichte und dann auch noch schlecht zubereitet zu hierfür stattlichen Preisen, wirklich lieblos angerichtete Teller, schmuddelige Theke, unsaubere Gläser mit Rand. Wir wollten eine große Flasche Wasser bestellen mit der Antwort, man führe keine Wasserflaschen. Also nahm ich ein 0,2-Wasser im Glas, das allerdings einen derart seltsamen Beigeschmack hatte (durch Partner bestätigt), dass ich die Vermutung habe, hier hat man einfach nur Leitungswasser per Sodastream aufbereitet. Auch unsere Tischnachbarn schienen sichtlich unglücklich. Alles in allem eine wirklich katastrophale Erfahrung, ich würde jedem, der einen netten Abend verbringen will und etwas Leckeres, mit Restauranterlebnis zu sich nehmen will, diese Gastwirtschaft zu meiden.

Ein kleines, feines Lokal, mit einer sehr netten Bedienung. Das Essen, "heißer Stein" war gut, die gereichten Dips lecker und die Kartoffel mit der Creme gut. Uns hat vor allem der Senf Dill Dip sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Bedienung hat am Nebentisch das Essen vom Stein in Englisch gut erklären können. Auch war sie zu Späßen aufgelegt. Es war rundum ein schöner Abend

Steak vom heißen Stein mit der (namensgebenden?) Backkartoffel war wie immer sehr lecker, tolles Fleisch und man kann es sich bis zum letzten Bissen nach Wunsch garen. Wir hatten einen gemütlichen Draussen Platz hinterm Haus, bei schönem Wetter auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Getäuscht von den vielen guten Bewertungen sind wir hier eingekehrt. Ganz wichtig, die positiven Bewertungen beziehen sich hier wohl rein auf die Fleisch Gerichte, die scheinen hier offensichtlich eine Spezialität zu sein!? Trotz des Namens, scheint die Kartoffel hier eher eine Nebenrolle zu spielen! Es gibt zwar Ofenkartoffeln in diversen Varianten, aber wirklich überzeugend waren die jetzt nicht! Demzufolge erkläre ich mir, das dass Steckenpferd hier eher das Fleisch anstatt die Kartoffel ist!

Wir wählen für unser Abendessen einmal ein Steak und einmal vegane Champignon-Kichererbsen-Kugeln. Das Steak war gut und es machte Spaß, es vom heißen Stein zu essen. Wir hätten nicht damit gerechnet, das vegane Gericht ebenfalls auf heißem Stein zu erhalten und freuten uns darüber. Geschmacklich waren die veganen Kugeln allerdings leider nicht unser Fall. Die Kartoffeln mit dem Kräuterquark waren sehr lecker, die seien ausdrücklich gelobt. Der Beilagensalat fiel durch sehr saftige, frische Raspelkarotten auf, der Rest war nichts besonderes, aber nicht schlecht. Der Service war einerseits schnell und mit "wachem Auge", andererseits nicht wirklich freundlich. Wir wurden ohne große Worte platziert, es wurde nicht gefragt, ob es geschmeckt hatte und unser Abschiedsgruß blieb unbeantwortet. Der Gastraum war sehr behaglich. Insgesamt also eine nette Erfahrung, für einen zweiten Besuch genügte es uns aber nicht.

Wir waren zu sechst im entzückenden Ladenburg und vorwiegend Nichtfleischesser. So war uns ein Lokal mit Kartoffelgerichten gerade recht. Es gibt eine kleine Speisekarte mit hauptsächlich Backkartoffelgerichten - absolut keine hohe gastronomische Leistung, denn die Kartoffeln kann man stundenlang warmhalten und die Beilagen sind ziemlich banal. Die Küche ist extrem klein, hinter der Theke befindet sich die Fritteuse und die klingende Mikrowelle. Bestellt haben wir die vegetarischen Frikadellen vom heißen Stein mit Dips, gefüllte Champignons und Baked Potatoe mit Spinatcreme. Das schmeckte nur nach Backkartoffel mit grünem Babybrei. Und Fleisch von Argentinischen Rindern sollte man heutzutage nicht anbieten... Absolut keine Begeisterung. Die Einrichtung besteht aus bunt zusammen getragenen Trödel, der langsam verstaubt. Nervig ist die Lüftung mitten im Raum.

Keine große Küche, klein aber fein. Vielleicht eine Ofenkartoffel mit Lachscreme gefällig? Lecker! Man sitzt teils auf Bänken unter bäuerlicher Dekoration. Schneller, freundlicher Service. So wie's sein soll.

We took a train from Heidelburg to Ladenburg and walked a few blocks to find this little place that was recommended by our airbnb host. What a great find! We were able to sit out on the patio, but spent a few minutes wandering around the interior looking at the really interesting old photos. We had steak and pork loin, both with potatoes and salad. The food was very good, and easy to cook on the stones. Service was attentive but not hovering, which was nice. All over a fun experience. It should be noted - CASH ONLY.
