Der Biersepp in Aschaffenburg

The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) are good in themselves, but the portion size is a joke. Just a small bowl with a far too large salad on the side. That's not how you eat it in Bavaria.

On Saturday evening, we dined at Biersepp and were absolutely delighted. I opted for the half duck with red cabbage and dumplings – the meat was wonderfully tender, the skin crispy, and the flavor superb. The red cabbage and dumplings were also perfectly balanced and prepared to a very high standard. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. We immediately felt welcome and were very well looked after. All in all, a very successful evening with excellent food and great service. We will definitely be back.

A quaint, cozy inn with friendly service and excellent food. We had pan-fried calf's liver and meatloaf. Both were beautifully presented and served with a superb sauce. The small side salad was made with fresh ingredients and an interesting dressing. We'll definitely be back!

Biersepp in Aschaffenburg is a quaint and traditional restaurant that I can absolutely recommend! One of the best pork knuckles we've ever eaten, and we've tried many! Everything was perfect here: the quality, the seasoning, the preparation, the taste. Truly top-notch! Whether it was the knuckle, dumplings, sauerkraut, or gravy, everything was well-seasoned and simply delicious! The beer is also very tasty; I especially recommend the draft beer! The price/performance ratio is excellent; elsewhere it's sometimes more expensive, and the pork knuckle was still under €20 (November 2025). The staff is very friendly, the decor is rustic, and while you sit in the upstairs dining room, it's unfortunately a bit cramped.

The three of us arrived on Sunday evening. It was very crowded. Stefanie very kindly not only showed us to a lovely table, but also served us very attentively throughout the evening. The food was also excellent, just as we've come to expect.

Good German restaurant, but I have to admit nothing special about it. Typical German cuisine. Nice place for some bigger gatherings. What I don't find good about this and other German restaurants, especially ones with "beer" in the name of the restaurant is such a small variety of beers. It is almost always just one, maximum 2 brands. This must be improved in today's market.

The ambiance is quaint but fantastic! The service was very attentive. However, you can't shake the feeling that they might be overwhelmed. Food and drink orders are all taken from memory. No slips of paper or anything! Which is brilliant! The wait for our food was perfectly reasonable. The taste was absolutely flawless. Ordering dessert was also fine, again all done from memory. However, we then had to wait almost 40 minutes for dessert. Unfortunately, the apple strudel tasted like everything imaginable. The chocolate molten chocolate cake was still cold... That was a shame and somewhat dampened what was otherwise a wonderful evening.

It's actually a nice place, but when I was there, there were two bowling clubs/bachelorette parties (or something like that) going in, so it quickly became uncomfortably loud and you couldn't have a conversation. The owner didn't seem to care, though; his business was more important to him.

We've rarely experienced anything like this – the staff simply ignored us. We left without even being served. Apparently, they don't value new customers here, but rather rely on their regulars. Absolutely not recommended.

We really enjoy eating at Bierseppel. Stephanie, the server, was our first time there. She was very nice and gave us excellent advice.

Friendly host, delicious food, tasty beer

The waiter couldn't find the reservation at first, but after a long wait, it finally worked. We were seated halfway in the passage, between the pantry and the restroom. Then it took another 15 minutes for a waiter to find us. We wanted to order, but were told we couldn't order any food for the time being. The reason was that the kitchen had been completely eaten and more food had to be prepared. One said 30 minutes, the other 60 minutes. When asked if they still had knuckle of pork, there was no clear answer. After another 30 minutes, we left...hungry and thirsty.... I don't know if I'll give the restaurant another chance. All in all, it was very disappointing.

Biersepp is located in Aschaffenburg's old town, between the town hall and Johannisburg Castle. Four steps lead up to the dining room. A rather inconspicuous staircase at the rear of the restaurant leads to the highlight: the vaulted cellar. It's two floors underground and incredibly cozy.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening at Bier Sepp on our way to Munich. The food was excellent, and the drinks were served promptly. We felt very comfortable in the beautiful vaulted cellar during the inn singing. The owners serve the guests themselves and are very accommodating. The other staff are also very friendly. Below-average restaurant in Aschaffenburg. The owner is attempting to take legal action against poor reviews.

Worst experience in years. They served us a fried white sausage as a bratwurst, and when we paid the bill, they even admitted that the kitchen was overwhelmed. They then wanted 16.80 for it. Thanks for nothing. Simply disgusting. I took one bite and I still feel sick. Never again.

Service was great! The food was also delicious, although I've never been left hungry after a single serving of Käsespätzle. This was the case here...a very manageable portion of Käsespätzle.

We were hoping for a nice evening... We had reserved a table for 5 p.m. and were seated next to the stairs to the restroom. When we were then asked if it would be okay to have two more people sitting next to us, it didn't create a pleasant atmosphere. The table where we were sitting was offered to another couple, with the argument that we were only going to have a beer and then leave anyway. They quickly declined. We felt very uncomfortable in the situation, and I think that's just not appropriate. It's a shame, really, because this is a very nice restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. We both had the Jägerschnitzel, which was well-seasoned but a bit marbled and tough. We wouldn't come back here again!

The food was good, and the service was actually good too. We were there with a large group. However, when it came to paying, the manager was rude, demanding tips several times and then dictating how much we should give.

Prices aren't cheap, but the quality is top-notch.

My wife and I just had a fresh schwein haxe today. We waited about 30 minutes for the food, but it was worth it. Very nicely prepared, crispy, not too salty. We shared one portion, as a haxe is too much to eat for one person. Recommended.

We sat for ages and waited for service. We had to get our own beer. The coffee, which arrived after what felt like half an hour, was cold. We decided to skip the food.

Disappointing, I don't understand the good reviews. I've had better Bavarian food in Berlin. The portions were meager, and the server was unfriendly. The restrooms were dirty. What a shame.

Friendly service and delicious food. The roast pork was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was spicy and intense. I highly recommend it.

It was delicious, I had pork knuckle with dumplings and red cabbage and everything was perfect (you felt like you were eating at grandma's). The Keller beer was also fantastic. The highlight was when musicians played music for a colleague's birthday.

It looks good, but unfortunately, especially the young staff, are hard to beat in terms of unfriendliness and ignorance. Too bad, we left again.

A wonderful evening at Biersepp🥳 We dropped in spontaneously, and the menu immediately appealed to us. We received a very warm welcome and were escorted directly to our table by the chef. The food was truly 10/10 – fresh cuisine at a truly fair price. The chef himself serves here and was super attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Aschaffenburg. Many thanks to Jens and the team for the fantastic evening.

We've been in Aschaffenburg for three days and come to Biersepp every day. The beer and food are good and reasonably priced, but the friendly Renata takes the cake.

Definitely "The best pork knuckle in town." Even my Chinese visitor was impressed. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, the chef and staff are extremely friendly, and you don't have to wait long for the delicious food. I definitely recommend it to fans of Bavarian cuisine.

Poor. The atmosphere in the back was rather messy, with cucumbers and fries under the table and staff smoking in the next room. The meat was dry, the dumplings were okay, and the salad wasn't great.

Whenever we're in Aschaffenburg, we always go to Biersepp. Three different dishes, all good.

The "Biersepp" offers uncomplicated but solid and good brewery cuisine, good beer, and friendly service in a relaxed, international atmosphere. Even when pressed for time (until a movie night), the staff is flexible and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay here and would gladly return.

A down-to-earth restaurant. I had a Frankfurt schnitzel with the famous green sauce and fried potatoes, beautifully presented and very tasty. It was accompanied by the Schlappeseppel cellar beer on tap – a dream. The server was very attentive and friendly.

We had reserved a table for 6 this evening at 7:00 PM. Four of us arrived at first, two arrived a few minutes later. The supposed head waiter, or as the gentlemen behind the bar called him, "The Boss," took our drinks. Apparently the only one authorized to do that, but it wasn't the boss, who looked different and certainly wouldn't have been so incredibly unfriendly even if the gentleman had claimed otherwise... ... the first drinks arrived, and so did the other two of us. While we waited to order food, we played a first round of a small card game. Then the "boss" came to take our food, and the farce began... Four of us wanted to order food, and some of us wanted a second round of drinks. Apparently, the "boss" didn't like 4 of the 6 dishes, and we were told that the (real) boss couldn't stand it when people were playing games and only drinking but not eating. As mentioned, 4 of the 6 wanted to order food, and we planned to stay the whole evening and would have generated corresponding revenue. But the "boss" wasn't interested; in fact, he just became even more unfriendly. He wasn't friendly anyway. Apparently, he had a thing against us from the start, based on the way he looked. Besides, someone was also playing cards at the next table, and that apparently wasn't a problem... probably regulars or something... and apparently, Biersepp is doing so well that he can chase customers away. We paid immediately and left. We won't be coming back here. Absolutely a no-go!! There are so many great places in Aschaffenburg, you can safely do without this kind of thing.

The service was very unfriendly. Apparently, the manager doesn't like it when we don't eat. There were six of us, four of whom would have eaten, but it never came to that. After this rather unfriendly announcement, we paid and left the restaurant.

A fantastic spot for hearty, traditional German cuisine! The veal liver was tender and full of flavor, perfectly sautéed with onions and served with a rich gravy that brought everything together. The käsespätzle was pure comfort—soft, cheesy, and topped with crispy fried onions that added just the right crunch. Authentic, satisfying, and made with care—this was German soul food at its best. I’ll definitely be back for more.

I stumbled upon this restaurant/bar/beer garden by chance and was immediately impressed by the open and friendly nature of the staff. The food was exceptionally good and the portions generous. We happily returned on our second day and were once again very satisfied. The quality and value for money are excellent. We had the opportunity to have a brief chat with the owners, which was very open and pleasant. I will definitely return here the next time I'm in Aschaffenburg.

I can't understand the good reviews. I had the roast pork with sauerkraut and dumplings. The sauerkraut was cold, the roast pork had no structure, and you could easily mash it with a fork. The highlight, however, were the dumplings, which were sticky inside and tasted floury. The only positive things were the beer and the pleasant, quiet seating outside.

We went to Biersepp on Saturday evening. We got a table right away without a reservation. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. If we're ever in the area again, we know where to find delicious food. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

During my one-day visit, I found my way to this wonderful restaurant thanks to reviews from other reviewers. I had a wonderful meal outside after a recommendation for a special schnitzel. The Frankfurt version with homemade sauce is highly recommended. Accompanied by a delicious Schlappeseppel (a kind of German sausage). Chapeau! Greetings from Bielefeld!

Unfortunately, I can't entirely agree with the positive reviews. The staff was friendly, but we rarely saw them. We had to wait a while to order new drinks. The food was okay. The cheese spaetzle was a relatively small portion, and many of the side salad leaves had brown spots. It wasn't really fresh. The half chicken was very dry in the breast area. The tables in the beer garden, located on a busy alley, were not clean.

The real rating is about 3.0 The photo shows my original review, which they complained about and deleted.

A nice restaurant in Aschaffenburg's old town with delicious food and great service. You can also sit outside (people-watching included 😉), and there are plenty of bike racks nearby....

Friendly staff and good food for a very reasonable price.

The food was of poor quality. Extremely hard bread dumplings with a sauce heavy with thickening agents and mushrooms from a jar/can. Tasteless cheese spaetzle and cheese pretzels with paprika powder. Unfriendly service, who, among other things, pushed my father aside to put the food on the table. The Schlappeseppel beer, which had a heavy odor outside, wasn't available; only Faust beer was available (due to a dispute between the owner and the brewery, as we later learned from locals). The women's restrooms were stank and filthy.

Sensationally good! There's really nothing more to say. Making a reservation was easy. We received excellent advice regarding certain questions about the menu. The food was fantastic and extremely attractively presented. The freshly poured beer was extremely tasty. We'd be back!

A rustic, traditional inn with excellent food. The cellar has a wonderful vaulted room where you can hold a party or even reserve a table with your own beer tap. Highly recommended.
