Der Biersepp in Aschaffenburg

Biersepp is located in Aschaffenburg's old town, between the town hall and Johannisburg Castle. Four steps lead up to the dining room. A rather inconspicuous staircase at the rear of the restaurant leads to the highlight: the vaulted cellar. It's two floors underground and incredibly cozy.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening at Bier Sepp on our way to Munich. The food was excellent, and the drinks were served promptly. We felt very comfortable in the beautiful vaulted cellar during the inn singing. The owners serve the guests themselves and are very accommodating. The other staff are also very friendly. Thank you for this wonderful evening 👍

We were hoping for a nice evening... We had reserved a table for 5 p.m. and were seated next to the stairs to the restroom. When we were then asked if it would be okay to have two more people sitting next to us, it didn't create a pleasant atmosphere. The table where we were sitting was offered to another couple, with the argument that we were only going to have a beer and then leave anyway. They quickly declined. We felt very uncomfortable in the situation, and I think that's just not appropriate. It's a shame, really, because this is a very nice restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. We both had the Jägerschnitzel, which was well-seasoned but a bit marbled and tough. We wouldn't come back here again!

Very friendly service, great food, centrally located. All in all, a very pleasant stay. What more could you want?

The food was good, and the service was actually good too. We were there with a large group. However, when it came to paying, the manager was rude, demanding tips several times and then dictating how much we should give.

Prices aren't cheap, but the quality is top-notch.

My wife and I just had a fresh schwein haxe today. We waited about 30 minutes for the food, but it was worth it. Very nicely prepared, crispy, not too salty. We shared one portion, as a haxe is too much to eat for one person. Recommended.

We sat for ages and waited for service. We had to get our own beer. The coffee, which arrived after what felt like half an hour, was cold. We decided to skip the food.

Disappointing, I don't understand the good reviews. I've had better Bavarian food in Berlin. The portions were meager, and the server was unfriendly. The restrooms were dirty. What a shame.

It was delicious, I had pork knuckle with dumplings and red cabbage and everything was perfect (you felt like you were eating at grandma's). The Keller beer was also fantastic. The highlight was when musicians played music for a colleague's birthday.

It looks good, but unfortunately, especially the young staff, are hard to beat in terms of unfriendliness and ignorance. Too bad, we left again.

A wonderful evening at Biersepp🥳 We dropped in spontaneously, and the menu immediately appealed to us. We received a very warm welcome and were escorted directly to our table by the chef. The food was truly 10/10 – fresh cuisine at a truly fair price. The chef himself serves here and was super attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Aschaffenburg. Many thanks to Jens and the team for the fantastic evening.

We've been in Aschaffenburg for three days and come to Biersepp every day. The beer and food are good and reasonably priced, but the friendly Renata takes the cake.

We had a knuckle of pork and a steak. Unfortunately, the meat was completely dry and not freshly prepared. The service and friendliness were very good.

Definitely "The best pork knuckle in town." Even my Chinese visitor was impressed. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, the chef and staff are extremely friendly, and you don't have to wait long for the delicious food. I definitely recommend it to fans of Bavarian cuisine.

Poor. The atmosphere in the back was rather messy, with cucumbers and fries under the table and staff smoking in the next room. The meat was dry, the dumplings were okay, and the salad wasn't great.

Whenever we're in Aschaffenburg, we always go to Biersepp. Three different dishes, all good.

The "Biersepp" offers uncomplicated but solid and good brewery cuisine, good beer, and friendly service in a relaxed, international atmosphere. Even when pressed for time (until a movie night), the staff is flexible and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay here and would gladly return.

A down-to-earth restaurant. I had a Frankfurt schnitzel with the famous green sauce and fried potatoes, beautifully presented and very tasty. It was accompanied by the Schlappeseppel cellar beer on tap – a dream. The server was very attentive and friendly.

We had reserved a table for 6 this evening at 7:00 PM. Four of us arrived at first, two arrived a few minutes later. The supposed head waiter, or as the gentlemen behind the bar called him, "The Boss," took our drinks. Apparently the only one authorized to do that, but it wasn't the boss, who looked different and certainly wouldn't have been so incredibly unfriendly even if the gentleman had claimed otherwise... ... the first drinks arrived, and so did the other two of us. While we waited to order food, we played a first round of a small card game. Then the "boss" came to take our food, and the farce began... Four of us wanted to order food, and some of us wanted a second round of drinks. Apparently, the "boss" didn't like 4 of the 6 dishes, and we were told that the (real) boss couldn't stand it when people were playing games and only drinking but not eating. As mentioned, 4 of the 6 wanted to order food, and we planned to stay the whole evening and would have generated corresponding revenue. But the "boss" wasn't interested; in fact, he just became even more unfriendly. He wasn't friendly anyway. Apparently, he had a thing against us from the start, based on the way he looked. Besides, someone was also playing cards at the next table, and that apparently wasn't a problem... probably regulars or something... and apparently, Biersepp is doing so well that he can chase customers away. We paid immediately and left. We won't be coming back here. Absolutely a no-go!! There are so many great places in Aschaffenburg, you can safely do without this kind of thing.

The service was very unfriendly. Apparently, the manager doesn't like it when we don't eat. There were six of us, four of whom would have eaten, but it never came to that. After this rather unfriendly announcement, we paid and left the restaurant.

A fantastic spot for hearty, traditional German cuisine! The veal liver was tender and full of flavor, perfectly sautéed with onions and served with a rich gravy that brought everything together. The käsespätzle was pure comfort—soft, cheesy, and topped with crispy fried onions that added just the right crunch. Authentic, satisfying, and made with care—this was German soul food at its best. I’ll definitely be back for more.

I stumbled upon this restaurant/bar/beer garden by chance and was immediately impressed by the open and friendly nature of the staff. The food was exceptionally good and the portions generous. We happily returned on our second day and were once again very satisfied. The quality and value for money are excellent. We had the opportunity to have a brief chat with the owners, which was very open and pleasant. I will definitely return here the next time I'm in Aschaffenburg.

I can't understand the good reviews. I had the roast pork with sauerkraut and dumplings. The sauerkraut was cold, the roast pork had no structure, and you could easily mash it with a fork. The highlight, however, were the dumplings, which were sticky inside and tasted floury. The only positive things were the beer and the pleasant, quiet seating outside.

We went to Biersepp on Saturday evening. We got a table right away without a reservation. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. If we're ever in the area again, we know where to find delicious food. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

During my one-day visit, I found my way to this wonderful restaurant thanks to reviews from other reviewers. I had a wonderful meal outside after a recommendation for a special schnitzel. The Frankfurt version with homemade sauce is highly recommended. Accompanied by a delicious Schlappeseppel (a kind of German sausage). Chapeau! Greetings from Bielefeld!

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We didn't have to wait long for the food, and it was delicious.

Unfortunately, I can't entirely agree with the positive reviews. The staff was friendly, but we rarely saw them. We had to wait a while to order new drinks. The food was okay. The cheese spaetzle was a relatively small portion, and many of the side salad leaves had brown spots. It wasn't really fresh. The half chicken was very dry in the breast area. The tables in the beer garden, located on a busy alley, were not clean.

The real rating is about 3.0 The photo shows my original review, which they complained about and deleted.

The food was of poor quality. Extremely hard bread dumplings with a sauce heavy with thickening agents and mushrooms from a jar/can. Tasteless cheese spaetzle and cheese pretzels with paprika powder. Unfriendly service, who, among other things, pushed my father aside to put the food on the table. The Schlappeseppel beer, which had a heavy odor outside, wasn't available; only Faust beer was available (due to a dispute between the owner and the brewery, as we later learned from locals). The women's restrooms were stank and filthy.

A rustic, traditional inn with excellent food. The cellar has a wonderful vaulted room where you can hold a party or even reserve a table with your own beer tap. Highly recommended.

Sensationally good! There's really nothing more to say. Making a reservation was easy. We received excellent advice regarding certain questions about the menu. The food was fantastic and extremely attractively presented. The freshly poured beer was extremely tasty. We'd be back!

I found this restaurant on a trip through North Rhine-Westphalia with a stopover in Aschaffenburg. I actually thought it was just an ordinary pub, but I was proven wrong. There was a daily specials menu, and the food was served quickly. The food was delicious, and the restaurant was extremely busy. It was also a very relaxed atmosphere, and another couple who were also passing through joined us at the table. We happened to have a really nice evening with great food. I highly recommend this restaurant. The price/performance ratio was absolutely top-notch.

Last Saturday we celebrated our civil wedding at Theo's in Biersepp. The communication in advance went smoothly, Theo reserved the vaulted cellar for us (approx. 25 people), even minor changes on our part regarding the process and start time were no problem, thank you for the uncomplicated process. Before the celebration, we also had the opportunity to decorate the vaulted cellar a little according to our ideas, the room was awesome (LED lighting is available, music boxes, all imaginable songs could be played via laptop). Big advantage: the vaulted cellar is “separated” from the main rooms and you essentially have everything to yourself here. At the same time, we were also provided with our own waitress: the kind-hearted Domenico, who took our celebration to another level: with a lot of heart and endless energy, he served us, made jokes and rounded off our already perfect celebration. Food (recommendation: the Haxen!) and beer (including various types of Schlappeseppel straight from the barrel!) were amazing, our guests and we were completely happy. The prices are more than fair. So if you are looking for a location for your wedding celebration, I can only expressly recommend the Biersepp. Theo and his people put their heart and soul into it and do their best to ensure that you have a great evening. In times when this is no longer a given, we received perfect, all-round support. Therefore, a big thank you in particular to Theo, his lovely wife, Domenico (grazie mille, you made our evening even more perfect!) and his team. We have already agreed with our witnesses to come back next year for our first wedding anniversary and visit the vaulted cellar again. But then please only with Domenico ;)

Went to BierSepp with a hiking group of 9. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for food. Two tables that came after us together, 7 people got their food earlier. Not suitable for groups.

A restaurant in an excellent location - the main courses such as the pork knuckle meat or the liver taste very good, but it is no longer clearly visible what is served as a side dish and sauce: convenience food with sauce thickeners and the like. We won a voucher from Bier Sepp and redeemed it today. We enjoyed a great meal (Frankfurter Schnitzel and roast pork). Both dishes were tasty and good portions. Our waiter was also very friendly and attentive. Thank you again for the nice evening and we'll be happy to come back :)

Leider etwas enttäuscht, wir waren an einem Sonntag in Lokal, leider gab es kein Haxen oder Bratwürste wie es im Internet als high Leigh angeboten wurde. Der Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen wieder. Vielleicht haben wir dann Glück, dann Haxen zu probieren.

Wir hatten eine Firmenveranstaltung und waren mit 16 Personen im Gewölbekeller. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wir hatten 1 Bedienung nur für uns und immer genügend Getränke zur Verfügung. It is a typical restaurant, with very good service, good atmosphere, and very good food, Chicken and schnitzel. The dark beer darkens well. The chocolate cake is a good dessert. Totally recommended.

As boaters passing through, the more than friendly harbor master Georg Kittel recommended this shop to us, and we, as a skipper crew from Stade and Hamburg, were more than positively surprised. Firstly, it tasted very good and secondly, we almost had a local dialect because the young man comes from East Frisia. The other colleague originally comes from the Erzgebirge, but no longer has any of that in his dialect. Conclusion, for the next few days, when the locks are still closed uphill, we will definitely try the hearty and more delicious dishes there more often. Prices are still moderate, you can happily pay for roast pork, red cabbage and two types of potato dumplings with a hefeweizen for €21.50 given the atmosphere.

Were in Bietsepp today and felt very comfortable, even though the volume was a bit louder. Service was very understanding.

If you are nearby this place is a must. Veal liver was phenomenal. Friendly athmosphere and discussion with the owner was also great proof of professional hospitality. Thank you for everything we will definetly come back.

Good food and a nice portion, but what was missing and unfortunately I've been missing from many restaurants lately was a side salad.

Today was our first and last visit to Biersepp. Our "experience" began with an extremely unfriendly reception. Upon entering the restaurant, we were neither greeted nor given a friendly welcome, but were immediately asked if we had a reservation. Of course, we had, and the tone didn't change after that either. The elderly gentleman simply turned around and walked away without telling us where we should sit. After we stood there, somewhat taken aback, looking at each other questioningly, we were finally directed towards the vaulted area. Once there, the vaulted area itself seemed inviting, but there were far too many tables too close together. Furthermore, the tables hadn't been wiped down and were still dirty and sticky from previous guests. The food tasted okay, but there are definitely better alternatives in Aschaffenburg. The portions are an absolute joke for the prices. The cheese spaetzle portion consisted of just a handful of spaetzle and a salad, and that for €15. Strictly speaking, it was more of a side salad with some cheese spaetzle. Even a child wouldn't have been able to fill it up. But the highlight of the evening was paying. It says everywhere that card payments are accepted, so we didn't get any money beforehand. Unfortunately, that's not possible in the vaulted room. So we went upstairs to the dining room to pay. The first thing we were asked there was whether we had even tipped. This question alone is an absolute cheek, given the exorbitant prices, and then assuming we had to tip clearly shows what this unfriendly man at the bar is all about: money. I travel a lot, but sometimes you find the unfriendliest and most rude people right on your doorstep. It's better to take your money to hosts who are genuinely friendly and helpful!

You can grill chicken only on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and they provide plenty of vegetables. The schnitzel was delicious, but the French fries were generously provided so I had two beers. Just like the neighborhood seniors' living room, people come one at a time during lunch and have beer and rice before leaving.

The staff is friendly and the food and beer are all delicious. I think the grilled chicken is a lunch menu item, and it was spicy and salty and went really well with the beer.

I dined at Der Biersepp in Aschaffenburg, opting for the ½ roasted chicken with fries and salad, accompanied by a Schlappeseppel Pils. The food was very good, with the chicken being crispy and juicy, and the portion size was huge, ensuring I left fully satisfied. The Schlappeseppel Pils complemented the meal perfectly, offering a refreshing balance to the hearty dish. The interior is very old but cozy, featuring rustic wooden decor that, while not particularly pretty, exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was friendly, adding to the overall pleasant experience. However, being explicitly asked about the tip amount felt awkward, especially since this hadn't occurred in previous German cities I've visited, nor in subsequent restaurants in the area. On the positive side, the prices were fair, especially considering the generous portions and quality of the food.

Walking through the city we found this place. Delicious food. That day the duck was at 50% so we ate delicious and at a very decent price. The chocolate cake was delicious as in many places in Germany and Switzerland.

Hmmm... charging that much money for finished products is very steep. The roast pork with red cabbage and dumplings was disappointing. The meat is dry, the beer sauce is a finished product, heavily thickened, the bread dumplings are too salty and not cooked through. The pepper steak also with a ready-made sauce and fries, which were again not salted enough. Unfortunately, the service was only rudimentary. We had reserved a table and were still simply added to a group.

Well, came in, somewhat cluttered space. Bad layout. No hello, no please, no thank you. Service complete failure. Menu probably doesn't exist. The question of a small starter and a small meal cannot be answered. I'll leave it at two beers. 2x schappeseppel export costs €9.00 Not recommended.
