So there is no service here! Tables are not cleared. Drinks taste stale.

Service is virtually non-existent. The waiters sit around a lot. The dishes are piled up on the tables. Non-carbonated Cola. The one star for the fact that the buffet was rich and tasty.

Still a lot of room for improvement! Nice ambience, but service haphazard. Although there wasn't much going on, the cake came first (ice cold!), drinks only after repeated requests, and coffee and tea were lukewarm. This is definitely better!

Unfortunately the breakfast buffet was very disappointing. The buffet was constantly empty and was only replenished sporadically. The choice of food was already very limited, and many guests were left with empty plates. The gentleman who was responsible for refilling the buffet was noticed by his unfriendly behavior. He responded to completely normal questions with annoyance and gave cheeky answers. Instead of defusing the situation, he repeatedly emphasized that he was alone and would not be able to fill everything up in time. That may be understandable, but it in no way justifies this behavior towards guests. What was particularly incomprehensible was that during the time we were there (around 1 hour and 30 minutes), he went outside to smoke twice, even though the buffet was empty. That doesn't work at all! Especially during peak times, the focus should be on giving guests a pleasant breakfast - not on cigarette breaks. We were very disappointed and would not recommend this breakfast buffet. Something definitely needs to be improved here, both in terms of service and organization!

Attended the gourmet buffet today with five people. Conclusion, very disappointing. No comparison to the previous tenants of the dike crown. Profit now counts here. The selection was manageable, the buffet was in no way sufficient for the number of people. Right from the start, many visitors could only look at the grazed plates. It was not refilled. Staff were completely overwhelmed and had to operate the kitchen and service at the same time. Not to mention the ambience, despite the beautiful location, you felt like you were in a factory canteen. Price performance is no longer right here, it's a real shame.

Unfortunately a very disappointing visit. After a long time and a change of tenant, we ate here again and immediately noticed that the menu had been shortened significantly. But this wasn't a problem for us, as it usually indicates a better quality of the food. After we received our drinks (both Cola Zero) we noticed that they tasted different. However, the problem was quickly resolved after it was addressed; the syrup was probably empty. When our food arrived, the fries were already cold and the cheese on the burger was already hard again, and it was well-cooked and cold. There was also a lettuce stalk in my friend's salad. Another point of criticism was the lack of service at the table/dinner. Furthermore, the toilets weren't exactly clean and there was an unpleasant smell in the hallway. Overall it's pretty disappointing and as long as nothing changes here I wouldn't come back despite the lovely atmosphere and the location at the reservoir.

We were there with 7 people for coffee! I have to honestly say that the service there is very poorly organized. The order was received and billed very nicely and normally. The timing of the service with the coffee and cake was catastrophic. First of all, part of the cake came from the order, then we had to wait a long time for the coffee and tea. The coffee and tea were cold. I have to mention that the homemade cake was ready-made cake from the chest. It's a shame, a shame compared to before

We spontaneously drove by in the evening and ordered two waters and a crispy chicken, for a total of €19.75. Unfortunately, the portion of Crispy Chicken was disappointing with only four pieces, so we expected more. We also ordered two still waters, but one of them came with sparkling water. Of course this can happen, but it's still a bit annoying. Overall, the visit was unfortunately not what we had hoped for.

It started with a large, very dirty glass of cola. That can easily happen, but it was so dirty that you should have seen it when it was served. The really simple meal was inedible. The meat in the cheeseburger was still raw and you almost lost a tooth on the fries. The salad consisted of water and my companion's chicken patty was burnt. On a Friday evening there was also a yawning emptiness there. It's a shame, we won't be coming back.

The food isn't great, but ok. Despite there being nothing going on at our time, the toilets are dirty, there are cobwebs on the walls and above the tiles and there is a thick layer of dust. You have to look for toilet paper. Sink dirty. So off to nature... The fridge at the bar is dirty with milk or something else. The counter sticky. Unpleasant smell in front of the toilets. Ambience top but... Not again...

I especially like to go to this location with my youngest son, Benjamin, of all the options that Emsland and the county have to offer! Because it is very nicely decorated here, the staff is always friendly without being intrusive, the individual distance is maintained at all times and then the food, especially the salads, are highly recommended 😊🍓❤️

In itself: Yes...The restaurant has really fallen into disrepute (our last visits were also rather disappointing) but we were there today on December 25th, 2024 for the breakfast buffet and I have to say that you really did a first-class job today. In my opinion, the buffet was constantly supplied, the used plates were cleared from our table, we were asked if everything was OK, the food was hot or warm, it also tasted very good and the staff was friendly and they did apparently acted and participated in a team. It was almost unprecedented. I would have one small suggestion for improvement: so that this long queue doesn't arise at the buffet, you could set up a second row of tables/counters where you can divide things up, so the long queue would then disappear. But that is no reason to deduct a point. We were all completely satisfied. Best regards and keep it up. It was really good.

An sich: Ja...Das Restaurant ist wirklich in Verruf geraten (auch unsere letzten Besuche waren eher enttäuschend) aber wir waren heute am 25.12.2024 zum Frühstücksbuffet da und ich muss sagen, das ihr heute wirklich erstklassige Arbeit geleistet habt. Das Buffet war meiner Ansicht nach durchgehend versorgt, von unserem Tisch wurden die gebrauchten Teller abgeräumt, wir wurden gefragt ob soweit alles in Ordnung ist, Das Essen war heiß bzw. warm, es hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt und das Personal war freundlich und sie haben scheinbar im Team agiert und mitgemacht. Es war nahezu beispiellos. Einen kleinen Verbesserungsvorschlag hätte ich noch: damit diese lange Warteschlange bei dem Buffet nicht entsteht, könnte man noch eine zweite Tisch-/Thekenreihe aufbauen, wo man die Sachen aufteilt, somit löst sich die lange Warteschlange dann auf. Das ist aber kein Grund ein Punkt abzuziehen. Wir alle waren durch und durch zufrieden. Mit freundlichen Grüßen und macht weiter so. Es war wirklich gut.

After the change of tenant in the Deichkrone restaurant, where I am almost part of the inventory😁, the service is👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. You have to look for service inside, otherwise you'll get mold on the terrace. The favorite drink 🍹 is not even half full, comes from the ready-made bottle 🙈. A group of men at the next table had to wait over half an hour for her 🍻🍺, even though there wasn't much going on. Comment from next door: "What are they doing? Are they still having breakfast?". .. The tenant needs to change something, especially since the prices have risen sharply💶. We know Restaurant Deichkrone differently and better!

Katastrophe! Kein Service, keine Auswahl, viel zu wenig für so viele Personen, Brötchen entweder zu hell, zu dunkel oder gar keine! Das Büfett war immer abgegrast und völlig lieblos aufgebaut! Personal völlig unfähig, alle Gäste waren sehr enttäuscht! Auf keinen Fall dieses Lokal betreten … eine absolute Frechheit dafür auch noch Geld zu kassieren !

Today, as in previous years, we were at the Deichkrone with the family and were looking forward to the breakfast buffet we had booked. It was a disaster! The food was okay, as long as you could get some. It was refilled very sparingly and slowly. The baked rolls, for example, only seem to have been shown the oven briefly. The selection of food was rather mediocre, no cereal, no fruit salad, no coffee selection like in previous years, little selection of cold cuts and cheese, etc. The space available was underground. We sat with 9 people at a 1.80m table for a maximum of 6 people! No space for plates, glasses and cups, let alone for eating. The tables were so close together that you could hear every conversation between the tables next to you. In addition, there were far too few service staff present to adequately serve the number of guests. It was embarrassing to invite his guests there who came from far away. Conclusion: NEVER AGAIN! We had the feeling that it was purely mass processing. As many guests as possible in a small space with as little effort as necessary. There was absolutely no interest in the guest. In previous years we were always very satisfied, after today's visit we will not be coming back.

Simply great! We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Only the toilet facilities could be renovated.

The service was really very friendly and quick. The ambience is absolutely great. One star deducted because it smelled strange in the entrance. Unfortunately, there is still room for improvement when it comes to food. The map is quite manageable. I had chicken strips with fries and a small salad. The fries were good. The chicken was tender but unfortunately soaked in fat. The salad wasn't disappointing, just outrageous. I'll start with the positive: the yogurt dressing was good. Unfortunately the salad was anything but fresh. It was all more like a mud with dressing. And downstairs everything was full of oil. I don't understand why a significant amount of oil is in a salad with yoghurt dressing. Unfortunately not (any longer) recommended.

The staff was clearly overwhelmed. Poor coordination, too few staff, poorly trained staff. Order was taken very late, coffee came quickly, cake 5 minutes later, the coffee was already cold.

The view is very nice, great interior and music and staff. Would go again!

We've been enjoying eating here again for some time now. The staff is very friendly, even to small children, and the food is delicious. We always order schnitzel and the oriental bowl, and the children often get fries. We don't have to wait long and the food tastes very tasty.

We celebrated our wedding in September 2024 with a good 90 guests at the Deichkrone. The celebration, the hall (Seeblick Lounge), the tables and the flower decorations were so well prepared and the team gave us a smooth evening. The drinks were great, came quickly and were served with joy. We discussed the food beforehand and it was great. A special thank you goes to Jan for the preparation and communication in advance, as well as to Eve, who accompanied us on the day itself and the day before, as well as the counter manager Matze and the entire service team. Our guests and we were extremely satisfied. Overall, it can be said that the quality of the celebration and organization was finally at least as great as in the golden days of the dike crown and no longer has anything to do with the chaos of the former “operator”. The new operators and the team do everything to create a beautiful celebration and make everything better than you could wish for! Thanks!

The top of the dike has lost its crown. The ginger in the tea was moldy and the table was dirty. There is rubbish everywhere on the site, weeds are sprouting and the furniture is becoming brittle. It's a shame, because the dike crown represented much more a few years ago. Maybe next year it will be better again. I wish so.

I didn't know Deichkrone in Geste until yesterday. Since we are looking for rooms for a larger family celebration, we wanted to try out a small meal there yesterday. Order: two wine plaices, two salads with chicken breast. Even before the drinks and cutlery came, the salad was there, less than 2 minutes after ordering! Impossible to prepare fresh salad and serve it at this time. But well, they apologized that there were neither drinks nor cutlery and so these were quickly delivered. The glass of my wine spritzer was wet, dirty and had an endless amount of lipstick on it. At least my partner's glass didn't have any lipstick stains on it. I felt sick just watching. How can you miss something like this when serving it: IMPOSSIBLE So I have to assume that you think this will go through. After I kindly asked for a clean glass, the waitress was very friendly and said: It goes without saying. Both salads were a disgrace, after we ate the chicken breast from above, the two cherry tomatoes revealed the brown and rotten lettuce. I wouldn't even give such lettuce leaves to feed to the pigs. That belonged in the organic waste bin. The honey mustard dressing was watered down as if it had been extended with water. Taste ZERO! Strangely, I didn't want to say anything again. You feel bad complaining even though the sight of the salad was disgusting. We paid decently, but it was money wasted! I knew we wouldn't be regulars in this store anymore. I would have loved to have spoken to the boss there. Either he doesn't care or he has no idea what's going on in his shop. I'd rather keep the third comment I had to myself🤬

Overall not a nice experience there, the fries were cold and tasted like onions. The sauces were forgotten and delivered too late, and cutlery was missing from the table even though we had reserved. There were five of us, six burgers were brought and we didn't understand that we hadn't ordered the sixth one, which was almost put on our table. The orders were mixed up, the ingredients that were ordered were still there and they were just put there at random instead of asking who had burger XY. Our table was served by 4 waiters at the same time, which meant it was very confused and haphazard. After no table was provided for another fairly large group who had obviously made a reservation, we were asked in a really rude manner by one of the male waiters whether we had overlooked the reserved sign on our table and simply sat down (we had made the reservation ourselves and... were previously assigned to this table by his colleague). He didn't apologize for his tone; afterwards he loudly reprimanded his colleagues in the middle of the restaurant. Overall a very unprofessional impression. Wouldn't go there again.

Chocolate ice cream sundae where you have to look for the ICE CREAM (1 scoop) and that for €8.45 borders on outrageous.

The food and drinks were delicious and we really enjoyed it. The service was also generally okay. However, there were some organizational difficulties when we arrived: We had reserved in advance, but the staff seemed overwhelmed with our reservation. The only table with a “Reserved” sign was already occupied by a group of girls, which led to an awkward situation when a waiter asked if they had read the sign. The girls were visibly unsettled because they had also made reservations. This has already given us a somewhat unpleasant impression. After a short time we were placed, but later moved again. On a positive note, the food and drinks came very quickly after ordering and everything met our expectations. However, the mood in the team seemed tense throughout the evening. The waitress who served us was friendly, but it was clear that there was tension in the working atmosphere. What was particularly unpleasant was that a colleague and our waitress were loudly criticized several times in front of the guests by a male colleague. This caused an awkward silence in the room and it was obvious that many guests felt uncomfortable. Overall, it was a mixed evening: While the quality of the food and drinks was convincing, the chaotic and hectic working atmosphere was clearly noticeable and unfortunately left a bad aftertaste for us.

Wir wollten mit Freunden im Aussenbereich zu Abendessen… nach dem wir bereits eine halbe stunde auf die Bedienung warteten .. die bereits 8 neue Gäste bediente die kamen…wir sprachen sie an ob wir auch bestellen könnten…sie antwortete ……ja ich komme gleich ….. und bediente wieder neu kommende Gäste … anscheinend wird da nach Gesicht bedient…danach beschwerten wir uns drin… denen war dies egal…. Es ist nicht das Erste Mal passiert…….dieses lokal wird uns nicht mehr sehn

We were there for breakfast today. First the positive. The location is great, right on the lake. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. When asked for black tea it was not brought. Long waiting time at the buffet. And when it was your turn, a lot of things were no longer there. No spoons at dessert. Butter out in the meantime. All scrambled eggs. Salmon wasn't refilled at all. Really sad for the guests. Not just with us, but also with other guests. And really too few staff. It's a shame for the lovely person who invited us.

The Deichkrone café/restaurant is located at the reservoir in Geeste. A very nice place to walk. The service is courteous and quick. The food is delicious (if you get what you ordered ;)) Price performance is okay We'll be back!

We have often stopped there after diving. The outdoor dining has become really great and we like to sit outside for a beer or a snack. We'd love to come back. At the moment there is a lack of staff and service is suffering.

We had ordered coffee and cake. Coffee on and no cake yet. It's a shame. Normally it would have been nice all together. We were told the cake wasn't ready yet

The location is beautifully situated and the outdoor area is particularly great. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us. Some of it was cold and it wasn't brought to everyone at the same time, so some people were almost finished before the last ones got their food. And then we were more or less thrown out on Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m.… They had been preparing breakfast for about an hour and pushing tables and chairs around. Actually, according to the opening times, it would be open until midnight...

It felt like 30 minutes between cake and café and only when asked.

Some time ago, the dike crown was visited in the evening, including a child. Service was attentive and friendly. Opinions differ about taste, but bringing the children's food 10 minutes after the others should be reconsidered. This was also accepted with understanding. However, I was already aware that this would probably not be local for me. Nevertheless, on Sunday lunchtime, in the beautiful weather on the terrace, we gave the top of the dike another chance. Service was friendly, but unfortunately not attentive. The drink order was taken quickly, but the waiting time to order food was forever long and you had to ask several employees to take it. Waiting time for the food was ok. However, we were completely shocked by the size of the position. When you see the prices, you think you're getting a salad that will fill you up. Unfortunately the salad was watery, had little dressing and was far too small, especially for the price! After one of the three had finished eating, the individual plate was cleared away without asking. It was a child, which horrified me even more. You had to wait some time to pay and ask several times when it would start. Since I like to constructively express my perceptions on site, I found it sad how indifferently this was received. At just under €65 for 3 drinks, 2 salads and a chip, I expect to be full!

Service is slow, staff talks more to each other than to guests. Restaurant part with play area is no longer available on Sundays from 5:30 p.m.

We waited almost 1 hour for our food and as a reward for patience the food was cold. There were also ingredients on the food that were not on the menu and other specified ones were missing. Drinks were no longer requested after the first drink. Unfortunately, the service wasn't interested in the complaint at all. So we won't be coming back for a while.

Nice location on the lake. We were there for coffee and apfelkuchen but saw that many people were having breakfast (which looked good) and in nice weather you could imagine yourself in Spain with the water and the palm trees.

Everything was very good and friendly. The dog was allowed into the restaurant.

The service leaves a lot to be desired! Courteous service must be learned. Clearing away without asking for further requests is a very poor service and does not contribute to sales! That's what I ordered, it was prawns from the oven, a very small portion for the big price. However, kudos to the home-baked bread! It is juicy and was really delicious!

I ate at Deichkrone for the second time today and unfortunately I was disappointed again. Last time I didn't say anything and thought it was a slip-up. However, when I ordered the same thing again today, it was exactly like last time. The dough from the pizza snails was still completely raw. It's a shame, I won't visit the restaurant again.

Beautiful location on the reservoir. Fries prices aren't exactly cheap. But the view of the lake and beach is worth it.

Food was brought 5 minutes after ordering, salad was sour, "knocked over" the waitress just shrugged their shoulders, after the criticism the remaining dishes were not cleared away, they waited for us to pay. Toilets on the ceiling completely filthy. No spider webs removed in weeks. Not a second time!!

We celebrated our wedding in the Deichkrone at the end of August. After the problems with the last owner, we had a stomach ache about what would happen to our wedding. Unfortunately, we have not received any notifications, emails or anything similar that there is a new owner. It wasn't until we were there ourselves that we got a number for the new owner. We called and wrote to them ourselves, but it remained silent for a long time. After a new message she got in touch and an appointment was arranged. The old contract was reviewed and it was clear that a lot had changed. The Deichkrone no longer has fresh cocktails, but bottled cocktails and the Candy Bar was also a lot more expensive. A middle ground could be found here that both sides could live with. When we asked again, the new management responded rather unfriendly via WhatsApp, saying that they were only making contractual offers out of "goodwill" and that it wasn't smart to do it the way we planned. Two weeks before the wedding we asked for another appointment to talk everything through and had this appointment with Jan. We can only warmly recommend Jan. He thought all of our ideas were great, nothing was a problem and he was able to tell us exactly what was best done where and how. He was always available and friendly and really took care of everything. Just before that he completely turned things around and really gave us a good feeling. Jan was also there at our celebration and took care of everything. It was great that we were able to set everything up the Thursday before our wedding, which really relieved us of stress. The food was great, super tasty! We were even able to make changes to the menu a few days beforehand and allergies were also dealt with very competently. The waiters went around a lot and refilled a lot and were always friendly. Unfortunately, the cocktails were all empty at some point, which was of course a bit annoying. Due to the change of ownership, our final invoice forgot that we had paid a deposit even though it had already been copied and added to our documents. All in all we had a great evening with really, really tasty food. Our guests all said that the food was delicious and of course the later in the evening the less it mattered even if something ran out. Jan really did a great job and knows exactly what he is doing. However, due to all the difficulties surrounding it (which of course the new owner can only partially help with), we deducted one star.

Sehr enttäuschend nach dem Besitzerwechsel! Außenbereich wirkt sehr schmuddelig und vernachlässigt. Abgewandelte Speisenbeilage nicht möglich. Vorspeise wurde schlicht vergessen. Keine Entschuldigung o.s., ein kostenloser Absacker o.ä. wäre Service gewesen! Weinschorle bestand aus 90% Wasser! Service ok, aber die Fingernägel für die Gastronomie ein absolutes NO GO!!! Ekelhaft! Speisen Note 3! Nur das Ambiente macht es leider nicht. Es gibt im Umkreis bessere Alternativen!!

Very disappointing after the change of ownership. The outside area looked pretty dingy and neglected (weeds everywhere, dirty) Modified ordering of food is not possible. The appetizer we ordered was completely forgotten. No apology or guddies, like a nightcap or something similar, the wine spritzer was 90% water, service was ok, food was satisfactory, nothing more. It's a shame, it's just the ambience that doesn't matter. There are better alternatives.

Good food with a lake view - it's worth a visit! Bombastically good

Wir sind früher sehr gerne in die Deichkrone gegangen, als das Ehepaar Tenbusch und dessen Team es noch geführt hat. Da war der Service und das Essen hervorragend. Das Speicherbecken ist für Jung und Alt ein toller Ort, um spazieren zu gehen, die Kinder Spielen zu lassen oder am Wasser zu liegen. Seit das Restaurant aber vom Extrablatt übernommen wurde, ist es nicht mehr gut dort. Auch der letzte Wechsel der Geschäftsführung (April 2024) hat nicht für Verbesserungen gesorgt. Nach unterschiedlich guten und mittelprächtigen Erfahrungen wollten wir der Deichkrone noch eine Chance geben und dort etwas essen. Ist auf der Terrasse viel Betrieb gibt es eine kleinere Karte, damit die Küche das besser handeln kann. Das war für uns total nachvollziehbar. Auf Anfrage händigte man uns aber die normale Karte aus, weil inzwischen nur noch wenige Gäste auf der Terrasse etwas essen wollten. Wir hofften somit darauf, dass wir recht zügig etwas zu Essen bekämen (es war ja nicht viel los) und der Kellner sagte, es würde schnell gehen. Zwischen Bestellung und Erhalt des Essens vergingen leider doch ca. 50 Minuten. Das ist für eine Familie mit einem Kleinkind, dass möglichst stillsitzen soll und auch irgendwann ins Bett muss, zu lange. Vor allem, wenn das Restaurant offensichtlich nur noch wenig Gäste hat. Für unser Kind hatten wir mit dem Essen einen kleinen Teller, eine Kuchengabel und einen kleinen Löffel mitbestellt, damit es von uns etwas mitessen konnte. Wir bekamen eine Lasagne und eine Pizza. Den Teller und das Besteck für unser Kind mussten wir noch zweimal anfragen, der Besteckkorb, der auf dem Tisch stand, wurde auch erst auf Anfrage aufgefüllt. Die unterschiedlichen Kellner, die uns bedienten, wirkten unkonzentriert und unorganisiert. Die Pizza war von unten stark angebrannt und die Lasagne bestand aus vier Lasagneplatten mit Soße. Keiner von uns war mit dem Essen zufrieden oder ist davon satt geworden. Wir haben den Kellner darauf angesprochen und er hat es lediglich zur Kenntnis genommen. Ein (preisliches) Entgegenkommen oder neues Essen gab es nicht. Was uns persönlich aber am meisten erschreckt hat, war der Zustand der Anlage. Dass die WC’s ungepflegt sind (es gibt oben die WC’s vom Restaurant und unten welche, für alle Besucher des Strands) ist schon nicht schön, aber man sollte ganz dringen die Umgebung überprüfen. An dem Weg, der direkt vor dem Restaurant in Richtung Wasser führt und offensichtlich noch zur Strandpromenade der Deichkrone gehört, schauen an den Brettern lange, verbogene und rostige Nägel raus. Daran kann sich jeder leicht verletzen. Ein mit Brettern versehener Blumenkübel direkt neben der Getränke/Pommes-Bar vor dem Strand ist (vom Strand gesehen) offen. Man kann ganz deutlich Mehrfachstecker und Rattengiftfallen in dem Kaste sehen und könnte auch reinfassen. Kleine Kinder oder auch Katzen und Hunde können ganz leicht hineinklettern. Wir hatten dies im Restaurant angesprochen, aber leider hatten wir auch hier das Gefühl, dass sich niemand dafür interessiert. Für uns ein absolutes No-Go. Es ist super schade, dass die heutige Deichkrone nicht mehr so bewirtschaftet wird, wie sie es verdient hätte. Die Location wäre für Jung und Alt ein guter Anlaufpunkt, wenn man sich vernünftig darum kümmern und die Qualität, die es verspricht, halten würde.

When looking for a good restaurant, good food, friendly service and a feel-good atmosphere are important to guests. The dike crown offers all this and a little more. Mam enjoys his meal overlooking the lake, Mediterranean style. The menu is clearly laid out and caters to every taste, from vegans to meat eaters (and it tastes really good - we had everything with us). A small point of criticism: many Dutch and foreign guests have to struggle through the German menu. How about having the map in English too? Food comes very quickly. Waiter top. We were particularly impressed by waitress Laura (kind regards, your employer is lucky to have people like you), who always made sure that the guests were having a good time. At our table she discovered a wasp in the glass and drew our attention to it. She pointed out to parents who let their child go barefoot that there could also be shards on the floor and recommended that the child put shoes on. And at the same time she explained and recommended food, took orders and brought a waitress with a lot of passion. Thank you Laura for having people like you. The food itself was not only beautiful to look at, but tasted really good. No salad drowned in sauce, but everything visually and tastefully coordinated. Fries were crispy, burgers weren't soggy, meat was tender... I could go on and on, there was nothing to complain about. Price-performance ratio is good, you should expect around €20 per person. Overall just great.👍

The food is good, the staff is friendly. The prices are too high. You get the feeling that this restaurant is taking advantage of the local monopoly.

I recommend it. A great place to relax with family and friends. And a beautiful view of the lake, where you can swim and practice water sports on a warm day.

On a whopping 5 visits in a row, something was missing from the dish I ordered. Either components of the salad, the lemon in the lemonade or the pizza rolls with the salad. It is very annoying to have to comment something after every order and an average waiting time of 30 minutes for the food. The quality of the food is okay, but nothing more. Salads and bowls seem carelessly slapped together; they can be found elsewhere in better quality. The water with sage, lemon and ginger came without lemon. You couldn't taste the ginger, so I had to make do with a bland sage water. The fresh waffles, on the other hand, are delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. It's a shame that the beautiful location is being exploited to make money. Deichkrone is part of the “Extrablatt” chain, perhaps there is a connection to the lack of love for gastronomy.

I was looking forward to a Deichkrone salad, but unfortunately my girlfriend and I were very disappointed 😞. The salad had a lot of brown spots and the yogurt sauce was watery. Only the chicken fillet tasted good. For the price we imagined something different.

Hello dear Deichkrone team and potential guests, We gave the Deichkrone various chances to present itself well, but unfortunately we were always disappointed, which is why I would now like to describe it to you in detail. Food quality: The food was okay, but not more than that. The dishes correspond to the Extrablatt standard, the chain of which the Deichkrone also belongs to, according to the imprint. A lot of things seem like they were just warmed up instead of freshly prepared. For example, I haven't been able to get a really warm burger in 3 orders. In addition, ingredients often appear that are not listed on the menu, or others that actually belong are missing. For example, my partner chooses a dish without peppers and still receives them as a surprise, but the beetroot and the accompanying pizza rolls were completely missing. The lemon was missing from the table water with lemon. You get the feeling that the staff themselves don't know the menu or simply don't feel like preparing the food, which is why the serving is so careless. Service: The service staff are nice and “try hard”, as they like to say. The staff is mostly very young and inexperienced, and the operator doesn't seem to be able to retain long-term staff. The fact that the employees are poorly organized, which causes the enormous waiting times, can clearly be attributed to poor management. Even service staff in dirty sweatpants and sweaters don't belong in the restaurant industry, it seems unkempt and inhospitable. Hardly any guests, 30 minutes waiting time for a salad that was missing the sheep's cheese... During busy times, ask for the bill 3 times, but you haven't received it after an hour. Over 25 minutes wait for a water and a beer. Then we were asked for an order again by the same service person We ordered and paid from her exactly 20 minutes in advance, but nothing was served to us. Ambiance: The location on the lake and the local monopoly position apparently ensure enough profit, and the prices are also unreasonably high for the quality and quantity you get. The furnishings are unkempt and appear run-down; some of the umbrellas are broken. Weeds are sprouting everywhere on the terrace and no one cares about rotting wooden benches. Another beautiful location that was taken over by a franchise chain and run down. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend the Deichkrone to anyone.

OK, it was a weekend with a flea market and an event, but when the guests around you get their orders and we wait 3/4 hour for 2 soups, then the friendly service no longer helps. It's a shame, the location is great, you could do a lot more with it.

The Deichkrone restaurant receives a fair three stars from me. We were there on a day when there wasn't much going on. The service was very friendly. Drinks and food are ok, but uninspired. The salad with goat cheese was ultimately just a series of exactly that, without there being anything interesting about it. The dressing wasn't convincing either. It was all very average. The water with frozen fruit in it is also drunk faster than the fruit is thawed. I then had an iced tea, which sounded incredibly exotic, but was ultimately a disappointment in taste. As I said: The food and drink weren't bad, but they weren't really ambitious either. In this respect, the restaurant thrives on the ambience, which can also suffer terribly if it is very full.

Nice service and very nicely located, directly at the storage basin in Geeste. You can walk around the lake and it is also ideal for swimming in summer. Can only recommend it

Very busy, fortunately booked in advance, the food was top 5 had the curry sausage with fries, which the gentlemen liked, 1 had the chicken burger sandwich with fries and the UK had a Mexican style hamburger sandwich with fries 👍🏻🍔🍟, service there service was top notch.

Very nice location on the water and the food tasted good. Friendly staff if German is difficult and they are also willing to help in English. Wide choice on the menu. We will definitely come back again.

On the Ems cycle path, the detour to the dike crown is worth it. In a very nice atmosphere with a view of the reservoir, you can enjoy good food and cool drinks. Recommended.

We have been regular customers at Deichkrone for many years. We know the restaurant before and after Jürgen Tenbusch and have celebrated many celebrations here in recent years, including our wedding. Unfortunately we have to agree with the recent bad reviews. After the last change in ownership, the selection of dishes has changed - as has the service. Long waiting times for drinks are now common here. It sometimes takes 30 minutes to pay. Only after repeated requests and deferrals could the bill be paid. We particularly remember our last visit. Spaghetti Cabanora was ordered. I don't think there's anything more to say about the picture. We would be happy to give the restaurant another chance in the future. But something needs to be done here. Unless you just want to sell breakfast customers and drinks.

Great restaurant in a cool environment. Delicious food, attentive and friendly service. And in front of the restaurant on the top of the dike you can either sit or lie down without constantly being forced to eat. Worth a day trip by bike.
