A great restaurant right by the reservoir with a stunning view of the lake. Friendly staff, and there was hardly any wait time—perfect.

We just wanted a cappuccino. We left after 60 minutes without ordering. The staff were completely overwhelmed.

Unfortunately, I can only give the location 5 stars. We were there for the schnitzel buffet. Let's start at the beginning. Reserve a table, easy. Call to say when, what, and how many people, and then it works. Arrive; find a parking space, easy, everything's free. Unfortunately, the parking lot isn't very well lit. Which is very dangerous when going up the stairs, especially with all the leaves. We entered through the lower entrance. It smelled very strongly of urine. We would have preferred to leave, but we were hungry 😉. So, up the stairs and into the restaurant. Someone immediately came up to us and showed us the reserved table. We sat down in no time. Then it took a while for someone to bring us drinks. We ordered drinks, said we were there for the schnitzel buffet. It was already set up behind us. Then we headed to the buffet. Everything was neatly labeled. Chicken, pork, and vegan schnitzel. Fries & croquettes. Salad. Sauce. Vegetables and rolls. Oh yeah, and mayo and ketchup. Everyone took what they liked. When it came to the food, we were very disappointed; the food was cold 😕... The warming containers weren't active. We politely pointed this out to the waitress. But simply heating up cold food. Well, not such a good idea. Everything was just cold. They really should have/should have replaced everything. But oh well. We also had to wait over 45 minutes for the second round of drinks before someone even came to take a new order. The service should pay more attention to this. Overall, I can't recommend the Deichkrone. Price/performance is so-so. But everyone should try it for themselves. You can't expect much from schnitzel and fries. You have to make up for it with everything else. Service, etc. And above all, hot food. Mistakes can happen, okay, but then you have to act and bring hot food quickly. But feel free to see for yourself!

Everything was great, except for the unfriendly staff.

Definitely recommendable for a meal if you don't expect a first class restaurant

Since the last change of ownership, the quality we find on our plates for a good price has gotten worse and worse with every visit. The price-performance ratio here is simply not right. The service is slow and leaves a lot to be desired. When we finally get our coffee after 15 minutes and then have to wait another half hour for the cake, which clearly tastes like it's been thawed, then something is seriously wrong. Cocktails that were once great now taste bland and unloved, but the price has gone up. The hot food like burgers and schnitzel also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality. Such a shame for such a great location, but we'll probably eat elsewhere in the future, or better yet, simply cook for ourselves at home. It's no coincidence that restaurants are losing customers. Nobody wants to pay ever-increasing prices for ever-deteriorating quality.

A beautiful place, but the food was a disaster. Today we were served a cake with mold! The waitress took the cake away without a word and then offered us another one. We ordered a different cake, which I really regret, as we both had stomach problems. I can't recommend it.

The time you spend here with friends is priceless.

A wonderful maritime atmosphere, pleasant lighting, and a great view of the lake. We enjoyed a coffee in the rainy weather. However, the restrooms leave a lot to be desired: no soap, and no running water in the ladies' room.

We were there for brunch, the cheese was melted and unrefrigerated. Just like the rice pudding. It tasted like alcohol. A day later, I was vomiting and had fun for several days...🤢 But the rolls were warm. All in all, really not recommended, even for the price.

Nice cafe/restaurant at the Speichersee in Geeste

During our tour, we stopped for a stroll by the reservoir and then stopped at the "Deichkrone" for coffee and cake. We ordered a latte macchiato, cappuccino, strawberry cake, and cheesecake for €15.40. The cake was homemade and delicious, as were the drinks. The food from the neighboring tables (burgers) also looked very good, and the prices were perfectly reasonable according to the menu. The ambiance, both inside and outside with a view of the lake, was beautiful 👌🏻.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The lovely view of the reservoir is completely ruined by lousy service. Orders don't arrive at the same time. Orders are "forgotten" or not fulfilled. Instead of chocolate ice cream, they serve stracciatella with "there's chocolate in it." Complaints aren't really addressed. If you don't want to ruin your day, you should avoid this place.

We celebrated our wedding with around 50 people on August 1, 2025, in the Lake View Lounge at the Deichkrone in Geeste and can definitely recommend this venue. We were able to contact the entire Deichkrone team in advance, and we also had a really good relationship with the managing directors, Jeannine Bathen and Jehad Chahin. They even answered all our questions while on vacation and were always friendly and helpful. Furthermore, our every wish was truly fulfilled, with Kölsch and our favorite schnapps being specially procured for us to make our wedding perfect. Not only the advance organization but also the service was truly fantastic. All guests were served consistently, additional wine was served at the tables during dinner, and the water carafes on the tables, lovingly garnished with lemon or mint, were never empty. The bar was always busy, not only due to the high-quality drinks, but also due to the friendly bartenders and fast service until the middle of the night. Before, during, and after the wedding, all the staff were friendly, helpful, and extremely personable. For dinner, we opted for a Mediterranean barbecue buffet and were not disappointed. Here, too, we had special requests, such as grilling vegan dishes, and this was easily accommodated. From shrimp skewers to small rump steaks, chicken pieces, pork steaks, and vegetables, to vegan sausages, everything was there, and absolutely delicious. The grill could easily be moved under a roof as the rain was approaching, so the weather wasn't a problem. The side dishes, from mushrooms, olives, and eggplant to the six different dips and a variety of salads and hot side dishes like potatoes and fries, were just as impressive. The entire venue was beautifully decorated and absolutely clean. The view of the lake and the small terrace at the lake view lounge, which was specially secluded for us, were truly stunning, but all the other details, such as the decorations at the buffet and the table settings, were absolutely worthy of a wedding. Another great thing about the decor was that we were able to implement our wishes without any problems, and even the day before the wedding, they made changes for us, such as additional high tables with tablecloths. Even though we don't usually talk about money, we can say this much: The prices were really fair and cheaper than other venues of this type. We had all the original drinks, high-quality food, comprehensive service throughout the entire planning and execution of the wedding, and meticulously decorated and set up the room. The price we paid was truly fantastic. So if we had to choose a wedding venue again, we would choose the Deichkrone in Geeste again. And not only we, but all of our guests were absolutely thrilled! Thank you so much for your hard work.

Great atmosphere but too few staff

On August 23, 2025, I ate at this restaurant. The service was a disaster: the cutlery was sticky, the menus were dirty... when I finally got my food, half of it was missing and the salad was wilted and mushy. When I was paying, I pointed this out to the server, who dismissed it with the comment that they'd keep it that way. So, all in all, a disaster!!

Unfortunately, they were more interested in clearing tables and chatting than taking any of our orders. So we left the restaurant without placing an order.

One beautiful Sunday we were at the Speicherbecken, where there was a flea market. Afterwards we went to the Deichkrone Café Restaurant. Ordering was very quick. My wife ordered apple pudding with a piece of cake, my adult daughter fries, buschetta with an iced coffee. I had a coffee with a piece of cake. My daughter had her meal within 5 minutes, which was great. She had almost finished her food before we asked for our drinks of coffee and apple pudding. We finally got our two pieces of cake after asking again. The piece of cake looked like one piece had been made into two. My daughter had to ask again where her drink was. We noticed at the next table that some orders hadn't arrived either. One couple ordered and got up in frustration when nothing came, another couple got up after trying several times, complained to the waiter and left immediately. The food was very, very good, one star deducted, the piece of cake was so small. The atmosphere was top notch. A disaster in service... there were a lot of waiters, but they had no plan. We also didn't like it!!! My daughter had her infant son in the stroller. Not two meters from the stroller, while we were eating and drinking, there was a smoker enjoying his smoke. Some smokers think they can smoke anywhere. It should be banned everywhere you eat. In my opinion.

The company summer party with grilled meats, grilled whole salmon, and side dishes was super delicious and everything was top-notch. Friendly service.

A truly wonderful restaurant located on a reservoir. There's a seating area right in front, with a sandy beach nearby. The food was excellent and the drinks were nice and cold. I had a fantastic burger. Highly recommended.

We had a confirmation party on Saturday. It was a lovely evening, and I couldn't complain about the service or food.

We sat there for 50 minutes and the place was hardly occupied. Not overcrowded or anything like that. After 20 minutes we went to the counter to ask if a server would finally come. No one came. After a total of 50 minutes we finally left. The place looks chic and the food smelled good, but not even getting a drink after 50 minutes in the evening when nothing is going on is a shame. Not recommended. Would give it 0 stars. It's also unacceptable that the server was just "chilling" at a table on her cell phone and we didn't even get a drink while others got a second serving.

Yesterday, August 16th, we held our company party there. The food was delicious, and there was a good selection. The wait staff were also very friendly and very prompt with our drink orders.

It took forever for a server to arrive, even though it wasn't busy and they were standing at the counter doing nothing. Only when the owner or manager alerted us did someone come to take our order. After that, of course, we waited a long time for our order. The only thing keeping this place going is the lake and the fact that there are no other options for getting food there. From what I've heard, it's the same owner as the restaurant Ewige Liebe, and that's when it all became clear to me. It's the same disaster, only a bit worse. It's a real shame about such a location.

A huge disappointment. We won't be back!

If it were possible, we wouldn't give a single star! We were there today on flea market day; it was very busy. The staff were well-organized in terms of numbers; they were so overwhelmed, and many of them were untrained. My parents and I ordered: I ordered a hot meal and a cold drink, my parents a cold drink, coffee, and two slices of cake. My hot meal arrived quickly. After 20 minutes, we asked about our missing order and were told there wasn't much going on in the kitchen?! My parents said the cake still needed to be baked?! Because something like that just needs to be served. After a few more minutes, the two mini slices of cake, coffee, and a cold drink arrived. My drink was still missing after another 15 minutes, and of course, when I had finished my food long ago, my cold drink arrived. This is the fourth time I've been there, whether it was busy or not, it was ALWAYS disorganized, whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And I think everyone knows that drinks are always served first, followed by the food. Many people left so angry, complaining or only getting their iced coffees after an hour and leaving without paying, which is understandable! The structure is sorely lacking. Back then, Deichkrone was such a good and fine restaurant, and now it's neither one thing nor the other. It's a real shame, given the location and the general situation. Deichkrone won't be seeing us again anytime soon.

It's a shame. We've been coming to the Deichkrone for several years and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. Today, our son had asked to eat at the Deichkrone again for his birthday. Unfortunately, we sat at a dirty table for over 30 minutes. A service employee announced his arrival once, but was more preoccupied with the conversation of the predominantly female guests. I set a deadline of another 5 minutes and then left without comment. We've been dining at the Deichkrone for several years during our Emsland vacations and have generally always been satisfied. This year, we found dirty tables and wet or soiled menus. We waited at our table for about 30 minutes without the server noticing the dirty table or taking our order. The restaurant wasn't crowded; we were simply forgotten and overlooked in favor of younger, mostly female guests or because the staff were chatting among themselves. After 30 minutes, we left without ordering. If there were 0 points, I would give it that.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I usually go to the Deichkrone with my family for my birthday on vacation. This year was the last time. We arrived at 7:20 p.m. It was relatively dirty (trash in the flowerpots/sticky tables/water stains on the menus/...). After being moved because one section was closed due to less people, we waited to order. At 7:35 p.m., a waiter came after we called for our attention and said he would be right back to take our order. After we still couldn't order at least drinks by 7:50 p.m., we left without eating or drinking anything and looked for another restaurant. What a shame...

I had reserved a table outside for breakfast. Upon arrival, we were told that no reservations could be made outside, so please find an empty spot. We ordered coffee, but we were told we had to leave. 😜 Then, of course, there was no coffee because the waiter couldn't find us. Then there were no plates at the buffet. After repeated inquiries, nothing happened. The food served looked terrible. We then decided to eat fries outside at the stall, where there was a completely overwhelmed man making sandwiches for the shantichors. Nevertheless, we were very nice, but if this continues, the crown will fall. I've never experienced anything like it. Sorry, but it's a disaster.

We waited half an hour for two cokes and then left without a drink! Very impersonal atmosphere. Price-quality ratio is poor.

Unfortunately, we waited over 30 minutes just for drinks, although the restaurant was not busy, and the ice cubes in the drink had almost completely melted when it was served and the mozzarella sticks were cold.

We were at the Deichkrone on June 29, 2025, with four people on a sunny Sunday. In the past, the Deichkrone has always been a very nice place for a Sunday outing. Unfortunately... that was once upon a time. What we experienced this time was really bad: 1. The waiters were really friendly, but when four of us order a strawberry sundae and only get three, it raises questions. Yes, it can happen, but this wasn't an isolated incident. 2. From the time we ordered until the ice cream arrived at our table, it took more than 25 minutes; and the place wasn't nearly full. That took way too long. And by then, some of the ice cream had already melted. 3. The ice cream sundae that was brought later (for which we had to ask twice more) took about the same amount of time again. Everyone else at the table was finished long ago. 4. The strawberry sundae, for about €9, tasted okay, but the quantity wasn't. For the price, almost every ice cream parlor offers better quality, a larger portion, and at least a coaster and a napkin. 5. The restrooms were extremely unkempt and smelled really bad. Sorry, but we're done with that place and won't be going back. Many other former customers probably feel the same way, as the place wasn't even close to full at 3:30 p.m. on a sunny Sunday. Back then, getting a table there was out of the question. Back then, customers were very satisfied and happy to recommend it.

Nice restaurant on the reservoir with a great view.

I've been to this restaurant three times now. Unfortunately, I've been disappointed each time. The waiters are friendly, but the service is disorganized and results in long waits, even when it's not busy. Some of the menus are broken or torn. The food doesn't seem very fresh and tastes more like frozen food. The iced coffee in a pineapple glass for just under €6 wasn't convincing either in terms of taste or appearance. The condition of the restrooms is particularly negative: very dirty, unhygienic, and obviously not cleaned regularly. The outdoor area also looks unkempt and uninviting. After three attempts, I'm sure: I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

Beautifully situated on the crest of the reservoir, everyone can relax here after a wonderful walk.

The food was ok for us but nothing more. The baked potato had a lot of lettuce leaves with brown edges that you didn't want to eat anymore and it tasted almost only of onions. My deal menu was ok but very little, the fries were also just ok. The staff were very polite and attentive which is something to be praised.

We went a few times this week, as our holiday home was close by. The food was good. The service on the first day was also reasonable, but on the other two days we had to wait a long time. One of those times was because there were only a few servers around, one of whom seemed to be doing all the work, while the other was mostly chatting and smoking. If you asked him something, he'd refer you to the other person. The location is beautiful. There's a lovely view of the lake, and even if it's raining, you can sit there in the dry.

The meal at the Deichkrone restaurant was a real disappointment. Not only we, but all the other guests seemed very dissatisfied after our visit. What was particularly negative was that the staff barely responded to our polite criticism and made no effort to improve the situation. The meal itself was, unfortunately, disappointing in every respect.

An all-around successful visit. The ambiance is truly wonderful, right on the water. The food was absolutely delicious, freshly prepared, and tasted amazing. Everything is old, toilet dirty

The location is wonderful, and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. We ordered 3 dishes, the Sausage was amazing, the pizza was good, however the chicken burger was very disappointing. One of the staff forgot about our table, which definitely spoiled the mood.

We've been to your place a few times, always great. Located right on the lake, a fantastic location. Unfortunately, the food could be a little better; our burgers were always cooked well, but you're supposed to be a great team. Thanks.

We booked at the restaurant yesterday. Unfortunately, our appetizer didn't arrive because they were out of pizza dough. It was 6:00 p.m., and the terrace was very crowded. The nerve was that we only asked if they told us they were out of dough. So the evening was ruined, and we left without eating anything. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this place.

Wonderful to sit here on the terrace and look out over the water. Enjoy a nice drink and food in the meantime.

If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by. Delicious food, plenty of space, both inside and outside. Great drinks and cocktails. Caribbean feeling under palm trees by the clear water. Well-attended, yet not overcrowded. We were able to stop in and eat here on Friday evening without booking. Bringing a dog wasn't a problem either. I can imagine it being a great destination for a day trip, for example, on a motorcycle tour. Plenty of parking available. Simply beautiful here.

Well, the wait for the food was very long. We had to wait more than 1.5 hours.

Unfortunately, the Deichkrone restaurant continues to decline. The food was mediocre. The spaghetti Bolognese tasted only of wine, and the bread was way too salty. The service barely spoke German, twice brought the wrong drinks for another table, and was also very unfriendly. We felt very uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, the Deichkrone has gone in a strange direction in recent years. A tired buffet, cold food, and unsuccessful events... It's a real shame. Until a few years ago, I really enjoyed going here, and the place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it's not being utilized. Even though honest but negative reviews are regularly deleted, I still try my luck and save couples, families, companies, etc. from having an unpleasant meal.

The food was really delicious, but the service could unfortunately have been improved. The waiter was very unmotivated, and having his staff work with caps wasn't exactly professional either. Otherwise, everything was good.

We arrived half an hour before closing time and were rudely told that the store was already closed. Reluctantly, we were given the drinks menu and the drinks were served with the emphasis, "You have 10 minutes." Poor service.

Lakeside location with a beautiful view. The staff was extremely friendly. I ordered a hunter's pan for €17.50. Unfortunately, the various meats were a bit tough and could only be handled with a sharp steak knife. The peppers in the pan and the meat were practically swimming in an oily, watery liquid, probably fried a bit too long. The taste was good, but it wasn't a feast for the eyes. The non-alcoholic wheat beer, coffee, and ice cream were okay. Unfortunately, the Amex card wasn't accepted when paying.

Cutlery wasn't replenished at several tables, and tables weren't cleaned. You have to ask the staff several times. The outside area is dirty, full of cobwebs, and it's not swept. - I've noticed this on several visits now!

Service takes a long time, no matter what. And there's always something wrong with what's ordered. For example, a vanilla shake without scoops of ice cream instead of with, as stated on the menu, and a chocolate ice cream with vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream as stated on the menu. What's the problem here? Groundhog Day. We've eaten here before, and sorry, they should put more thought into what they do and what they serve in the kitchen. We don't eat here anymore. At most, we sneak in when we're out for a walk. The ice cream menu is a joke, especially since there are enough kids around.

Hier erleben wir ein Negativbeispiel der Gastronomie. Die Deichkrone war mal als gutes Restaurant ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel, zumindest zu Zeiten des früheren Betreibers. Bei unserem letzten Besuch merkte man davon leider nicht mehr viel: - Getränke wurden vergessen, mehrfach - falsches Essen gebracht, auch an anderen Tischen zu beobachten - Zeit bis alle ihr Essen hatten viel zu lang - Bierglas klebrig und schmierig. Wahrscheinlich vom Überschwappen beim ausliefern, weil voll war es auch nicht. Und es stand schon einige Minuten auf der Theke. Der Schaum war schon verschwunden… - Es könnte mal wieder gefegt werden… Ja, es war nicht alles schlecht: die Kellner waren grundsätzlich freundlich und das Essen (aus der „Extrablatt-Karte“) schmeckte. Aber insgesamt läuft es halt nicht rund. Der ehemalige Betreiber ist nun übrigens im Hofbräu: da läuft’s…

A few years ago, I was always satisfied (lunch and dinner were always delicious). Therefore, I'm revising the review now.... I went there again in winter 2024: ordered coffee and a warm dessert. It tasted relatively good, it was almost empty, but we waited 45 minutes. Spring 2024: ordered the same thing, but after 20 minutes outside, we moved inside (asked first because we were with our dog). We sat inside for another 20 minutes until we had placed our order. Here, too, we only ordered coffee and a warm dessert. This time the coffee came relatively quickly. The warm desserts arrived after 50 minutes, but of course the coffee was already made (I said it could come together). ...The apple crumble arrived ice cold. I went back, but it came back to the table cold again a minute later. I went back with friends at the end of 2024 and in winter 2025. We left after 30 minutes because we and everyone around us were being ignored. Well, what can I say? It's a shame. Nice place, but it's no good if the rest of it is crap. Speaking of crap... the toilets are unfortunately soooo disgusting 🤢

Ich war am 27.06.2025 in der Deichkrone als Gast bei einer Examensfeier. Diese sollte ein unvergessliches Erlebnis für 50 Schülerinnen und Schüler sowie für ihre Familien und Freunde werden. Dies hat die Deichkrone geschafft - leider jedoch im zutiefst negativen Sinne: Der angekündigte Sektempfang zur Begrüßung? Fehlanzeige. Angeblich nur mündlich besprochen - also für das Personal nicht relevant. Serviceverständnis sieht anders aus. Bei Ankunft dann die nächste Überraschung: Die ohnehin schon sehr knapp und eng bestuhlten Tische reichten nicht für alle Gäste. Die Reaktion? Erst auf mehrmaliges Nachfragen wurden weitere Tische - eher widerwillig - aufgebaut, während die Gäste buchstablich daneben standen. Eine Entschuldigung? Nicht einmal ansatzweise. Ebenso erwies sich das Getränkesystem als wenig gastfreundlich: Hochpreisige Getränke konnten ausschließlich mit vorher zu erwerbenden Chips bezahlt werden. Kartenzahlung? Leider wegen WLAN-Problemen nicht möglich - kurios nur, dass dies im angrenzenden öffentlichen Bereich des Hauses offenbar problemlos funktioniert. Ein Schelm, wer Böses dabei denkt... Die Chips mussten dann bei jeder Bestellung vorab bzw. direkt abgegeben werden - doch das Servicepersonal war derart unkoordiniert, dass man seine bestellten Getränke regelmäßig selbst einfordern musste. Ohne Erinnerung wäre man also „chip- und getränklos" gewesen. Auch die Füllmengen stimmten nicht mit den Angaben auf der Getränkekarte überein. Offensichtlich großzügig bemessene Eiswürfelmengen taten ihr Übriges, um das Gefühl zu hinterlassen, nicht das zu bekommen, was bestellt wurde. Den traurigen Höhepunkt erreichte die Veranstaltung dann um kurz vor Mitternacht: dem Orga-Team der Schule wurde mitgeteilt, dass angeblich 14-16 Personen zu viel am Buffet teilgenommen hatten - ohne Nachweis oder nachvollziehbare Begründung wie man auf die Zahl gekommen ist. Innerhalb von zehn Minuten sollte nachgezahlt werden, andernfalls werde die Veranstaltung abgebrochen - inklusive Drohung mit der Polizei. Da wir die Forderung für absolut ungerechtfertigt hielten und ihr nicht nachkamen, wurde die Feier dann auch tatsächlich beendet. Insgesamt ein sehr enttäuschender Ablauf mit fragwürdiger Kommunikation und einem Umgangston, der einer festlichen Veranstaltung in keinster Weise gerecht wurde. Ich wage zu behaupten, dass von den ca. 200 anwesenden Gästen niemand mehr einen erneuten Besuch dieser Lokalität auch nur in Erwägung ziehen wird und hoffe, dass die dort gemachten Ertahrungen im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis geteilt werden. Übrigens reagierte auch der Inhaber der Räumlichkeiten als solche sehr enttäuscht, als wir ihm von diesem Vorfall und dem Verhalten des Gastronomiebetreibers berichteten.

Ein Erlebnis der absolut schlechten Art. Man will einfach nur das Examen der eigenen Kinder in der Deichkrone Geeste feiern und dann kommt da so ein Desaster bei aus … Vom Ambiente wollen wir nicht reden, aber von einer maßlos hohen Unfähigkeit der Vorort tätigen Geschäftsführung … Sie ist Frech , respektlos, zwischenmenschlich eine absolute Vollkatastrophe. Nun zum eigentlichen… Examenabschlussfeier der St. Franziskus Fachschule Lingen : * Sektemempfang vergessen * Versprechen seitens der Location wurden nicht eingehalten oder runtergespielt * Getränke wurden mit Absicht in kleineren Gläsern ausgeschenkt 0,25 l anstatt in 0,3 l - sowas nenne ich ABZOCKE!!! * auf der Getränkekarte wurden Getränke wie z.b. Bier, Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Wasser mit 0,33l für 4 Euro angeboten, nur zur Info … es gibt keine 0,33 l Gläser im Ausschank!!! Entweder 0,25l oder 0,3 l oder höher … * teils unfähiges Servicepersonal *an Tischen die für 18 Personen gedacht waren, mussten sage und schreibe min 24 Personen sitzen. * als Bonus wurden ca. 30 Sitzplätze mal gar nicht erst eingedeckt und mussten unter meckern nachgedeckt werden * das Essen war ebenfalls eine Katastrophe, eigentlich warmes war zum Teil kalt, zum Ende hin wurden keine Speisen nachgelegt und im Paket für 38 € pro Person und der Meinung von vielen Eltern die anwesend waren völlig überteuert. * dann wurde den verantwortlichen der Schule mitgeteilt, das ca. 16 Personen nachgezahlt werden müssten oder die Party sofort beendet wird * die Party wurde dann durch die Geschäftsführerin gegen 23:00 Uhr geschlossen, dem DJ wurde der Mund verboten und durfte nur nach Aufforderung reden. Wir mussten die Location verlassen * bereits erlangte Chips wurden nach drängen der anwesenden Eltern und Lehrer wieder erstattet, sonst hätte es Betrugsanzeigen gehagelt… Ich könnte die Liste endlos gestalten, weil das nur ein Auszug der Vorfälle ist. Die Deichkrone in Person der Geschäftsführerin kann sich an keinerlei Absprachen erinnern. Macht nach Außen nicht das beste Bild. Kurzum fällte das Fazit für die Deichkrone in Geeste mehr als sehr schlecht und absolut nicht empfehlenswert aus…

It used to be good here, but unfortunately not at all the last few times. Service is rather poor. It takes forever to be served, and when the food does arrive, it's sometimes cold or the wrong food...a real shame. The location itself is nice, but there are a lot of ants and dust... Hope it improves soon...

The location is very nice and well-maintained, but the staff is quite slow when it comes to taking orders. We sat there for an hour without being able to order any food. They kept saying the service would be right there...

I'd rather not give it a star at all! My husband and I came here to relax and have something to eat, but after 40 minutes, no one came to take our order! Even though three people were there and saw us! After 45 minutes, we left, annoyed and hungry. I've never experienced anything like this before! Very rude!!!! I'm never coming back here!!

Nice location. Kitchen needs a good chef. Dishes served colorless without garnish. Bad fries. Ice cream was good and well taken care of, staff friendly. Fresh wind through the kitchen and the turnover will double!

We were there again on June 8, 2025. Unfortunately, I have to repeat my review from three years ago. Once again, we had to wait 45 minutes for three ice cream sundaes and a cold coffee, and no, it wasn't full. The ice cream was crystalline. The cream was greasy. And that for almost €9 per sundae. Paying wasn't possible until half an hour later. And please don't go to the bathroom in the meantime. It's terribly dirty and stinks. Unfortunately, we've had to realize several times now that the Deichkrone is no longer what it used to be. Several times, we had to wait forever outside 1. for our order to be taken. 2. for a coffee, basically. 3. Then we got excuses like it was full. No, it wasn't. We then voluntarily went to the waffle stand. Sorry, it was much better there!

We were thrilled with the food. The price/performance ratio was completely acceptable. We'd happily return. Friendly staff.

It took a long time for the staff to notice and serve me, even though there weren't many customers. I also waited a long time for my ice cream sundae, which arrived half-melted and tasted very greasy. Other than the friendliness of the staff, I can't think of anything positive to say. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Wir wollten mit unserer Gruppe nachmittags was essen gehen. Haben sogar versucht ein paar Tage vorher zu reservieren, doch da hat man uns telefonisch mitgeteilt das wäre nur für Tische ab 18 uhr möglich. Naja wir waren trotzdem da. Unsere Getränke konnten wir erst nach 20 min aufgeben. Draußen unter der Übernachtung ist es sehr laut. Die anderen Tische schalten zu einem rüber. Unsere Stühle hatten keine Polster und haben gewackelt. Atmosphäre gibt es drinnen im neueren Haupthaus und am Strand, der Rest wirkt abgenutzt und altbacken. Auf das Essen haben wir fast 1 Stunde gewartet. Das Essen war okay, aber grade so lauh warm, als wenn es einfach schon länger irgendwo stand! Einer aus unserer Gruppe meinte es schmeckt ihm so nicht, er hat sein Essen stehen lassen. Die Speisekarte kam uns irgendwie bekannt vor, dann sagte uns jemand auf Nachfrage das Restaurant gehöre seit dem letzten Besitzerwechsel zur Kette von "Extrablatt". Schade das hier offensichtlich nicht die gleichen Standards gelten. Besonders angeeckelt haben uns die Toiletten, das Herren WC war unglaublich dreckig, überall Spinnenweben, Sand und Blätter von draußen. Hier wurde schon länger nicht mehr geputzt. Wir hätten uns gerne beim Chef beschwert, aber da wurde uns nur gesagt der wäre grade im Urlaub, das können wir verstehen wir waren auch nicht gerne hier!!

Yesterday, after a long walk around the Geester Reservoir, we went to the Deichkrone for dinner as a reward. The service was fast, friendly, and very helpful. The food was excellent. We can recommend the Deichkrone to everyone.

There was no Pils on a sunny Monday afternoon, no Alster, there was no pork schnitzel. One meal was wrong and he had to eat his broccoli schnitzel, which was still cold, 20 minutes after everyone else. You sat in front of your empty glasses, nothing was cleared away and no questions were asked for new drinks. This was not the case with the previous owner. The location, which is great in itself, doesn't save the day. Too bad.

We've visited the Deichkrone on several occasions. There are days when the service is fine. The ambiance by the reservoir is very nice! This morning we went for breakfast on Father's Day. We were the second group of visitors and had made a reservation. Unfortunately, we were seated directly in a draft. The buffet is good if you get there early. Within the first half hour, as the number of visitors grew, the staff unfortunately couldn't keep up. There were no plates or bowls for the muesli, and the jam had to be poured directly onto the plate. The same plate had to be reused for breakfast. The egg was then swimming in the jam. My brother-in-law had to eat dessert in a teacup. So the buffet went under, which kept the staff outside busy with energy drinks and cigarettes. We had three vouchers for breakfast, but the payment was deducted for brunch. This meant that we each had to pay an additional €6.50 for the buffet. Unfortunately, we've often experienced uncoordinated breakfast. Weddings at the top of the dike have been quite nice so far.

Disappointing Father's Day Brunch – Unfortunately Not Recommended We went to the Father's Day brunch at the Deichkrone today and were very disappointed. Although we arrived early and had a reservation, we were given a table with a strong draft. The buffet was well-stocked at the beginning, but after just 20 minutes, there were no more plates. The food refills left a lot to be desired – hardly any were brought. Coffee was only available if you asked the staff directly. We were particularly disappointed that two waiters took a smoke break together during normal business hours – even though they were obviously very busy. The young waitress and the kitchen assistant tried hard, but seemed completely overwhelmed and left alone. There were no plates left for dessert – I ended up having to make do with a coffee cup. Overall, we had the feeling that there was little interest in good food here. This was my second time there – and it will definitely be my last. After just an hour, we left the restaurant and continued breakfast at home. Unfortunately, the experience was more reminiscent of indifference and poor organization than hospitality. My brother-in-law had already written a more positive review, which was apparently deleted—which is unfortunately another bad sign. Conclusion: Not recommended. A shame about the wasted time and the event.

We went to Deichkrone for brunch and the ambiance and interior design were very nice, but that was unfortunately about it. Even though there were plenty of free tables, we were seated near the open door, which meant there was a real draft. Even though there weren't many guests there, a lot of people had to wait for plates (unfortunately, this wasn't automatically noticed and guests had to actively approach the service staff and ask for plates). The same problem occurred with bowls for muesli/yogurt/dessert. Napkins?! Unfortunately, there weren't any, and since you had to spread spreads like jam and the like directly onto your plate or, in the best case scenario (if the people behind you are happy to wait that long), directly onto your bread roll/croissant, it sometimes made quite a mess. The food on offer tasted OK. Unfortunately, the service was a complete disaster! Why have staff if they're only there to chat, smoke cigarettes, and drink energy drinks?! You have to go to the staff yourself with the coffee pot to have it refilled. Don't like coffee?! Prefer a different hot drink? Then please go to the staff yourself and request it. In other words: they don't go to the tables to ask existing guests if everything is okay or if they'd like anything else. This means that already used dishes aren't collected, and your own table ends up getting very full. Unfortunately, we didn't feel comfortable at all, and the price of around €22 per person (+hot drinks) isn't justified! I'm sorry, but we definitely won't be coming back! (P.S. This was the third time I've had such a bad brunch there, so I've given it another chance often enough.)

We wanted to go out for dinner with our group in the afternoon. We even tried to make a reservation a few days in advance, but they told us by phone that it was only possible for tables after 6 p.m. Anyway, we went anyway. We couldn't order our drinks until 20 minutes later. It's very loud outside under the overnight accommodation. The other tables switch over to us. Our chairs had no cushions and wobbled. The atmosphere is good inside the newer main building and on the beach, but the rest of the place feels worn and dated. We waited almost an hour for our food. The food was okay, but just lukewarm, as if it had just been sitting somewhere for a while! One of our group said he didn't like it that way, so he left his food. The menu seemed familiar to us, but when we asked, someone told us that the restaurant has been part of the "Extrablatt" chain since the last change of ownership. It's a shame that the same standards obviously don't apply here. We were particularly disgusted by the restrooms. The men's restroom was incredibly dirty, with cobwebs, sand, and leaves from outside everywhere. It hadn't been cleaned in a while. We would have liked to complain to the manager, but they just told us he was on vacation. We understand that; we didn't like being there either!

I would recommend it, but as everywhere, staff shortages mean longer waiting times.

Very poor service and unfriendly staff. The food is okay in terms of price/quality, but it's more like fast food and nothing special.

The restaurant is beautifully located, right next to the Geeste reservoir. It offers a beautiful view of the water. The restaurant is decorated in a maritime style. The staff are all very polite and accommodating. Upon request, we were able to move tables. Unfortunately, we had to wait a while for the food on our visit (about 45 minutes). The food was delicious but unfortunately already cold. We'd be happy to give it another chance on our next visit.
