Chocolate ice cream sundae where you have to look for the ICE CREAM (1 scoop) and that for €8.45 borders on outrageous.

The food and drinks were delicious and we really enjoyed it. The service was also generally okay. However, there were some organizational difficulties when we arrived: We had reserved in advance, but the staff seemed overwhelmed with our reservation. The only table with a “Reserved” sign was already occupied by a group of girls, which led to an awkward situation when a waiter asked if they had read the sign. The girls were visibly unsettled because they had also made reservations. This has already given us a somewhat unpleasant impression. After a short time we were placed, but later moved again. On a positive note, the food and drinks came very quickly after ordering and everything met our expectations. However, the mood in the team seemed tense throughout the evening. The waitress who served us was friendly, but it was clear that there was tension in the working atmosphere. What was particularly unpleasant was that a colleague and our waitress were loudly criticized several times in front of the guests by a male colleague. This caused an awkward silence in the room and it was obvious that many guests felt uncomfortable. Overall, it was a mixed evening: While the quality of the food and drinks was convincing, the chaotic and hectic working atmosphere was clearly noticeable and unfortunately left a bad aftertaste for us.

Great ambience, nice service and beautiful surroundings.

We were there for breakfast today. First the positive. The location is great, right on the lake. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. When asked for black tea it was not brought. Long waiting time at the buffet. And when it was your turn, a lot of things were no longer there. No spoons at dessert. Butter out in the meantime. All scrambled eggs. Salmon wasn't refilled at all. Really sad for the guests. Not just with us, but also with other guests. And really too few staff. It's a shame for the lovely person who invited us.

The location is beautifully situated and the outdoor area is particularly great. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us. Some of it was cold and it wasn't brought to everyone at the same time, so some people were almost finished before the last ones got their food. And then we were more or less thrown out on Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m.… They had been preparing breakfast for about an hour and pushing tables and chairs around. Actually, according to the opening times, it would be open until midnight...

We had ordered coffee and cake. Coffee on and no cake yet. It's a shame. Normally it would have been nice all together. We were told the cake wasn't ready yet

The Deichkrone café/restaurant is located at the reservoir in Geeste. A very nice place to walk. The service is courteous and quick. The food is delicious (if you get what you ordered ;)) Price performance is okay We'll be back!

We have often stopped there after diving. The outdoor dining has become really great and we like to sit outside for a beer or a snack. We'd love to come back. At the moment there is a lack of staff and service is suffering.

It felt like 30 minutes between cake and café and only when asked.

Some time ago, the dike crown was visited in the evening, including a child. Service was attentive and friendly. Opinions differ about taste, but bringing the children's food 10 minutes after the others should be reconsidered. This was also accepted with understanding. However, I was already aware that this would probably not be local for me. Nevertheless, on Sunday lunchtime, in the beautiful weather on the terrace, we gave the top of the dike another chance. Service was friendly, but unfortunately not attentive. The drink order was taken quickly, but the waiting time to order food was forever long and you had to ask several employees to take it. Waiting time for the food was ok. However, we were completely shocked by the size of the position. When you see the prices, you think you're getting a salad that will fill you up. Unfortunately the salad was watery, had little dressing and was far too small, especially for the price! After one of the three had finished eating, the individual plate was cleared away without asking. It was a child, which horrified me even more. You had to wait some time to pay and ask several times when it would start. Since I like to constructively express my perceptions on site, I found it sad how indifferently this was received. At just under €65 for 3 drinks, 2 salads and a chip, I expect to be full!

We waited almost 1 hour for our food and as a reward for patience the food was cold. There were also ingredients on the food that were not on the menu and other specified ones were missing. Drinks were no longer requested after the first drink. Unfortunately, the service wasn't interested in the complaint at all. So we won't be coming back for a while.

Service is slow, staff talks more to each other than to guests. Restaurant part with play area is no longer available on Sundays from 5:30 p.m.

Nice location on the lake. We were there for coffee and apfelkuchen but saw that many people were having breakfast (which looked good) and in nice weather you could imagine yourself in Spain with the water and the palm trees.

Great place, beautifully done, great view of the lake. However, the price of 3.40 euros for a cup of lukewarm coffee is too high.

Everything was very good and friendly. The dog was allowed into the restaurant.

The service leaves a lot to be desired! Courteous service must be learned. Clearing away without asking for further requests is a very poor service and does not contribute to sales! That's what I ordered, it was prawns from the oven, a very small portion for the big price. However, kudos to the home-baked bread! It is juicy and was really delicious!

Beautiful location on the reservoir. Fries prices aren't exactly cheap. But the view of the lake and beach is worth it.

I ate at Deichkrone for the second time today and unfortunately I was disappointed again. Last time I didn't say anything and thought it was a slip-up. However, when I ordered the same thing again today, it was exactly like last time. The dough from the pizza snails was still completely raw. It's a shame, I won't visit the restaurant again.

Nicely located. Currywurst was very good, but fries were too hard. But the location at the reservoir is first class.

Food was brought 5 minutes after ordering, salad was sour, "knocked over" the waitress just shrugged their shoulders, after the criticism the remaining dishes were not cleared away, they waited for us to pay. Toilets on the ceiling completely filthy. No spider webs removed in weeks. Not a second time!!

We celebrated our wedding in the Deichkrone at the end of August. After the problems with the last owner, we had a stomach ache about what would happen to our wedding. Unfortunately, we have not received any notifications, emails or anything similar that there is a new owner. It wasn't until we were there ourselves that we got a number for the new owner. We called and wrote to them ourselves, but it remained silent for a long time. After a new message she got in touch and an appointment was arranged. The old contract was reviewed and it was clear that a lot had changed. The Deichkrone no longer has fresh cocktails, but bottled cocktails and the Candy Bar was also a lot more expensive. A middle ground could be found here that both sides could live with. When we asked again, the new management responded rather unfriendly via WhatsApp, saying that they were only making contractual offers out of "goodwill" and that it wasn't smart to do it the way we planned. Two weeks before the wedding we asked for another appointment to talk everything through and had this appointment with Jan. We can only warmly recommend Jan. He thought all of our ideas were great, nothing was a problem and he was able to tell us exactly what was best done where and how. He was always available and friendly and really took care of everything. Just before that he completely turned things around and really gave us a good feeling. Jan was also there at our celebration and took care of everything. It was great that we were able to set everything up the Thursday before our wedding, which really relieved us of stress. The food was great, super tasty! We were even able to make changes to the menu a few days beforehand and allergies were also dealt with very competently. The waiters went around a lot and refilled a lot and were always friendly. Unfortunately, the cocktails were all empty at some point, which was of course a bit annoying. Due to the change of ownership, our final invoice forgot that we had paid a deposit even though it had already been copied and added to our documents. All in all we had a great evening with really, really tasty food. Our guests all said that the food was delicious and of course the later in the evening the less it mattered even if something ran out. Jan really did a great job and knows exactly what he is doing. However, due to all the difficulties surrounding it (which of course the new owner can only partially help with), we deducted one star.

You can sit very nicely with a view of the reservoir. Eating is like that. Service not attentive enough, you have to wait too long if you want something to drink.

I've eaten a lot of pizza rolls in my life - but these were by far the best I've ever had! Plus a fantastic location and super nice staff! Come again!

We liked it a lot. Very friendly staff and good food. Water for the dogs without asking.

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet with 12 people. Very good selection, things that were missing were always added. There were also a lot of guests there.

Very disappointing after the change of ownership. The outside area looked pretty dingy and neglected (weeds everywhere, dirty) Modified ordering of food is not possible. The appetizer we ordered was completely forgotten. No apology or guddies, like a nightcap or something similar, the wine spritzer was 90% water, service was ok, food was satisfactory, nothing more. It's a shame, it's just the ambience that doesn't matter. There are better alternatives.

Sehr enttäuschend nach dem Besitzerwechsel! Außenbereich wirkt sehr schmuddelig und vernachlässigt. Abgewandelte Speisenbeilage nicht möglich. Vorspeise wurde schlicht vergessen. Keine Entschuldigung o.s., ein kostenloser Absacker o.ä. wäre Service gewesen! Weinschorle bestand aus 90% Wasser! Service ok, aber die Fingernägel für die Gastronomie ein absolutes NO GO!!! Ekelhaft! Speisen Note 3! Nur das Ambiente macht es leider nicht. Es gibt im Umkreis bessere Alternativen!!

Good food with a lake view - it's worth a visit! Bombastically good

Wir sind früher sehr gerne in die Deichkrone gegangen, als das Ehepaar Tenbusch und dessen Team es noch geführt hat. Da war der Service und das Essen hervorragend. Das Speicherbecken ist für Jung und Alt ein toller Ort, um spazieren zu gehen, die Kinder Spielen zu lassen oder am Wasser zu liegen. Seit das Restaurant aber vom Extrablatt übernommen wurde, ist es nicht mehr gut dort. Auch der letzte Wechsel der Geschäftsführung (April 2024) hat nicht für Verbesserungen gesorgt. Nach unterschiedlich guten und mittelprächtigen Erfahrungen wollten wir der Deichkrone noch eine Chance geben und dort etwas essen. Ist auf der Terrasse viel Betrieb gibt es eine kleinere Karte, damit die Küche das besser handeln kann. Das war für uns total nachvollziehbar. Auf Anfrage händigte man uns aber die normale Karte aus, weil inzwischen nur noch wenige Gäste auf der Terrasse etwas essen wollten. Wir hofften somit darauf, dass wir recht zügig etwas zu Essen bekämen (es war ja nicht viel los) und der Kellner sagte, es würde schnell gehen. Zwischen Bestellung und Erhalt des Essens vergingen leider doch ca. 50 Minuten. Das ist für eine Familie mit einem Kleinkind, dass möglichst stillsitzen soll und auch irgendwann ins Bett muss, zu lange. Vor allem, wenn das Restaurant offensichtlich nur noch wenig Gäste hat. Für unser Kind hatten wir mit dem Essen einen kleinen Teller, eine Kuchengabel und einen kleinen Löffel mitbestellt, damit es von uns etwas mitessen konnte. Wir bekamen eine Lasagne und eine Pizza. Den Teller und das Besteck für unser Kind mussten wir noch zweimal anfragen, der Besteckkorb, der auf dem Tisch stand, wurde auch erst auf Anfrage aufgefüllt. Die unterschiedlichen Kellner, die uns bedienten, wirkten unkonzentriert und unorganisiert. Die Pizza war von unten stark angebrannt und die Lasagne bestand aus vier Lasagneplatten mit Soße. Keiner von uns war mit dem Essen zufrieden oder ist davon satt geworden. Wir haben den Kellner darauf angesprochen und er hat es lediglich zur Kenntnis genommen. Ein (preisliches) Entgegenkommen oder neues Essen gab es nicht. Was uns persönlich aber am meisten erschreckt hat, war der Zustand der Anlage. Dass die WC’s ungepflegt sind (es gibt oben die WC’s vom Restaurant und unten welche, für alle Besucher des Strands) ist schon nicht schön, aber man sollte ganz dringen die Umgebung überprüfen. An dem Weg, der direkt vor dem Restaurant in Richtung Wasser führt und offensichtlich noch zur Strandpromenade der Deichkrone gehört, schauen an den Brettern lange, verbogene und rostige Nägel raus. Daran kann sich jeder leicht verletzen. Ein mit Brettern versehener Blumenkübel direkt neben der Getränke/Pommes-Bar vor dem Strand ist (vom Strand gesehen) offen. Man kann ganz deutlich Mehrfachstecker und Rattengiftfallen in dem Kaste sehen und könnte auch reinfassen. Kleine Kinder oder auch Katzen und Hunde können ganz leicht hineinklettern. Wir hatten dies im Restaurant angesprochen, aber leider hatten wir auch hier das Gefühl, dass sich niemand dafür interessiert. Für uns ein absolutes No-Go. Es ist super schade, dass die heutige Deichkrone nicht mehr so bewirtschaftet wird, wie sie es verdient hätte. Die Location wäre für Jung und Alt ein guter Anlaufpunkt, wenn man sich vernünftig darum kümmern und die Qualität, die es verspricht, halten würde.

Delicious food and pleasant prices. Staff very friendly.

When looking for a good restaurant, good food, friendly service and a feel-good atmosphere are important to guests. The dike crown offers all this and a little more. Mam enjoys his meal overlooking the lake, Mediterranean style. The menu is clearly laid out and caters to every taste, from vegans to meat eaters (and it tastes really good - we had everything with us). A small point of criticism: many Dutch and foreign guests have to struggle through the German menu. How about having the map in English too? Food comes very quickly. Waiter top. We were particularly impressed by waitress Laura (kind regards, your employer is lucky to have people like you), who always made sure that the guests were having a good time. At our table she discovered a wasp in the glass and drew our attention to it. She pointed out to parents who let their child go barefoot that there could also be shards on the floor and recommended that the child put shoes on. And at the same time she explained and recommended food, took orders and brought a waitress with a lot of passion. Thank you Laura for having people like you. The food itself was not only beautiful to look at, but tasted really good. No salad drowned in sauce, but everything visually and tastefully coordinated. Fries were crispy, burgers weren't soggy, meat was tender... I could go on and on, there was nothing to complain about. Price-performance ratio is good, you should expect around €20 per person. Overall just great.👍

The food is good, the staff is friendly. The prices are too high. You get the feeling that this restaurant is taking advantage of the local monopoly.

I recommend it. A great place to relax with family and friends. And a beautiful view of the lake, where you can swim and practice water sports on a warm day.

On a whopping 5 visits in a row, something was missing from the dish I ordered. Either components of the salad, the lemon in the lemonade or the pizza rolls with the salad. It is very annoying to have to comment something after every order and an average waiting time of 30 minutes for the food. The quality of the food is okay, but nothing more. Salads and bowls seem carelessly slapped together; they can be found elsewhere in better quality. The water with sage, lemon and ginger came without lemon. You couldn't taste the ginger, so I had to make do with a bland sage water. The fresh waffles, on the other hand, are delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. It's a shame that the beautiful location is being exploited to make money. Deichkrone is part of the “Extrablatt” chain, perhaps there is a connection to the lack of love for gastronomy.

Hello dear Deichkrone team and potential guests, We gave the Deichkrone various chances to present itself well, but unfortunately we were always disappointed, which is why I would now like to describe it to you in detail. Food quality: The food was okay, but not more than that. The dishes correspond to the Extrablatt standard, the chain of which the Deichkrone also belongs to, according to the imprint. A lot of things seem like they were just warmed up instead of freshly prepared. For example, I haven't been able to get a really warm burger in 3 orders. In addition, ingredients often appear that are not listed on the menu, or others that actually belong are missing. For example, my partner chooses a dish without peppers and still receives them as a surprise, but the beetroot and the accompanying pizza rolls were completely missing. The lemon was missing from the table water with lemon. You get the feeling that the staff themselves don't know the menu or simply don't feel like preparing the food, which is why the serving is so careless. Service: The service staff are nice and “try hard”, as they like to say. The staff is mostly very young and inexperienced, and the operator doesn't seem to be able to retain long-term staff. The fact that the employees are poorly organized, which causes the enormous waiting times, can clearly be attributed to poor management. Even service staff in dirty sweatpants and sweaters don't belong in the restaurant industry, it seems unkempt and inhospitable. Hardly any guests, 30 minutes waiting time for a salad that was missing the sheep's cheese... During busy times, ask for the bill 3 times, but you haven't received it after an hour. Over 25 minutes wait for a water and a beer. Then we were asked for an order again by the same service person We ordered and paid from her exactly 20 minutes in advance, but nothing was served to us. Ambiance: The location on the lake and the local monopoly position apparently ensure enough profit, and the prices are also unreasonably high for the quality and quantity you get. The furnishings are unkempt and appear run-down; some of the umbrellas are broken. Weeds are sprouting everywhere on the terrace and no one cares about rotting wooden benches. Another beautiful location that was taken over by a franchise chain and run down. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend the Deichkrone to anyone.

I was looking forward to a Deichkrone salad, but unfortunately my girlfriend and I were very disappointed 😞. The salad had a lot of brown spots and the yogurt sauce was watery. Only the chicken fillet tasted good. For the price we imagined something different.

OK, it was a weekend with a flea market and an event, but when the guests around you get their orders and we wait 3/4 hour for 2 soups, then the friendly service no longer helps. It's a shame, the location is great, you could do a lot more with it.

Very busy, fortunately booked in advance, the food was top 5 had the curry sausage with fries, which the gentlemen liked, 1 had the chicken burger sandwich with fries and the UK had a Mexican style hamburger sandwich with fries 👍🏻🍔🍟, service there service was top notch.

Unfortunately the burger patty didn't taste good at all. Unfortunately, drinks only came after you had finished eating, even though you asked several times. The waitress was very unfriendly. Too bad

The Deichkrone restaurant receives a fair three stars from me. We were there on a day when there wasn't much going on. The service was very friendly. Drinks and food are ok, but uninspired. The salad with goat cheese was ultimately just a series of exactly that, without there being anything interesting about it. The dressing wasn't convincing either. It was all very average. The water with frozen fruit in it is also drunk faster than the fruit is thawed. I then had an iced tea, which sounded incredibly exotic, but was ultimately a disappointment in taste. As I said: The food and drink weren't bad, but they weren't really ambitious either. In this respect, the restaurant thrives on the ambience, which can also suffer terribly if it is very full.

Very nice location on the water and the food tasted good. Friendly staff if German is difficult and they are also willing to help in English. Wide choice on the menu. We will definitely come back again.

Food was delicious. Service was also friendly. The atmosphere on the terrace is catastrophic. 40 cm high weeds… some broken tables, chairs and flower pots made of OSB panels should be repaired or replaced

On the Ems cycle path, the detour to the dike crown is worth it. In a very nice atmosphere with a view of the reservoir, you can enjoy good food and cool drinks. Recommended.

Paying €5.45 extra for a disposable cup of coffee 0.3 outside the terraces is very outrageous

We have been regular customers at Deichkrone for many years. We know the restaurant before and after Jürgen Tenbusch and have celebrated many celebrations here in recent years, including our wedding. Unfortunately we have to agree with the recent bad reviews. After the last change in ownership, the selection of dishes has changed - as has the service. Long waiting times for drinks are now common here. It sometimes takes 30 minutes to pay. Only after repeated requests and deferrals could the bill be paid. We particularly remember our last visit. Spaghetti Cabanora was ordered. I don't think there's anything more to say about the picture. We would be happy to give the restaurant another chance in the future. But something needs to be done here. Unless you just want to sell breakfast customers and drinks.

Great restaurant in a cool environment. Delicious food, attentive and friendly service. And in front of the restaurant on the top of the dike you can either sit or lie down without constantly being forced to eat. Worth a day trip by bike.

The ambience was nice, the service was good. We once ordered kisses and a goat's peter salad. The salad should include, among other things, cherry tomatoes and beetroot, as well as 3 pizza rolls. Everything was missing. You were given rolls later...Unfortunately, they showed their appreciation, so there was only a 5% tip and not 10%. Very unfortunate......

The location is romantic and beautiful, making it the perfect place for a special evening. The service is also excellent as the staff is friendly and professional. It's a shame about this beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant manager has no interest in the good prospect. But the poor service is. Half an hour until the drinks came. The food was relatively little for the prices. Everything outside of the restaurant was closed in mid-July during the high season. That won't work, unfortunately.

Unfortunately it has been dismantled since the change of ownership, the menu has been halved and two of the three dishes were not prepared as ordered. Requests such as dressing in a separate bowl instead of directly in the salad were noted but not taken into account.

We were there with four people. It was (almost) full outside, there was nothing going on inside. The beer was stale and without a foam head, the water glasses were covered in fingerprints and lipstick, and water was brought instead of the Sprite we ordered. About an hour after ordering, the food finally arrived. The schnitzel was quite good, the salad consisted more of sand than lettuce and there was parmesan on the pasta, but not the arugula mentioned on the menu. Overall really disappointing. The staff seemed understaffed and therefore overwhelmed. The restaurant earned its one star because of the very friendly waitress who, despite the many guests she had to serve, listened to our complaints and tried to make our visit to the restaurant pleasant. However, I won't be setting foot in this store again any time soon.

Oh dear, oh dear, what was that? Went there yesterday without making a reservation. A place was quickly found for 2 people. We spent a while there and looked at the menu extensively. Then another table became available and that was nicer for us. We there... Hmm, different menu! So what is that??? A waitress then came and I ordered a green bowl, the waitress' statement is not available today. Then I have to look again, but why is there the bowl on the other side? The waitress further said that there was an event in the house today and they had forgotten to swap the menus. Ok good, keep watching. At some point the ordered drinks came, elderberry blackberry spritzer (basically it was simple still water with a touch of flavor, and a rhubarb spritzer, which was ok. Well, let's get back to the food, green bowl and pizza again, that's what they said The waitress was there, ok, we'll do that as an exception. At some point the food came, but the bowl was a small salad bowl, clearly you won't get enough of it. The taste of the pizza and bowl was okay. However, it took forever We got 2 forks and napkins and the table was dirty. Unfortunately the service was a complete disaster!

We had breakfast in the Deichkrone on Saturday. The offering has noticeably reduced compared to previous visits. At the beginning of the year there was a whole smoked salmon. Unfortunately, the quality of the goods was only average. The service was friendly, but could have been quicker when clearing empty plates

Good morning, Were there for lunch on Sunday (12 people). The order took a very long time! It wasn't set up properly and we had to get our own forks. Otherwise the employees are very nice! The food was rather so-so, with half of the people swapping out the dips and the burgers and schnitzels. In some cases, specially ordered dips were also missing. The chicken schnitzels were very, very crispy and rather brown.. Unfortunately, the cream sauce for the schnitzel was without fresh champions and the sauce had no taste and tasted like it came from a bag. The side salad was drowned in dressing. So unfortunately not so good! Pizza and burgers were ok. Overall it's okay in terms of price.

At the beginning of July we celebrated our church wedding in the Deichkrone with around 80 people and decided on the Mediterranean grill buffet. After initial (communication) problems with the previous owner, after the change of ownership, all of our wishes were fulfilled and we were also addressed very individually. The food was great, fresh, really well prepared and more than sufficient. Drinks were always brought quickly and the other table service was excellent and the staff were friendly, nice and accommodating. Last-minute changes, extra requests, etc. were no problem and they were taken care of with a smile on our faces. We and our guests are more than happy to have celebrated here and, even 2 weeks after the great day, we can't find anything that the Deichkrone team could have done better! Thank you for everything, we would come back to you at any time!

After a quarter of an hour we couldn't place an order because no one was responsible for our table. After that we left.

I ordered schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and fries, it was simply very tasty.

I was there at the beginning of June and I didn't like the ice cream and the service was unfriendly and overwhelmed. We waited 20 minutes for the ice cream and then some of it melted. It's ridiculous that the owner deleted my review because he can't see any criticism!!!! I would avoid this business!

Folgende Bewertung von mir, wurde vom Besitzer als Verleumdung bei Google gemeldet! "Wir waren hier zum Eis essen, leider kam das Eis ca 20min nach der Bestellung und es war auch schon angeschmolzen. Wir haben es logischer Weise nicht gegessen oder bezahlt. Positiv: Es wurde sich direkt entschuldigt und Angeboten neues Eis zumachen." Die Rezension von mir ist absolut Wahrheitsgemäß und kann durch zeugen belegt werden. Also an alle, AUFPASSEN!

Experienced the unimaginable a week ago! The waitress was wearing a t-shirt that was so dirty and sticky, but it matched the whole place, the tables, the floor, the toilets, because it all looked exactly the same. When we politely asked to please wipe the table, the waitress came with a rag and asked if she should do it or if we wanted to wipe the table. Everyone who ordered a beer there received a stale beer without foam. The fries were cold and rock hard, the schnitzel was a shoe sole and the burger was dry like the day before. Everything inedible. When we wanted to point this out to the new owner, she sent us away and said then you wouldn't pay for it and she wouldn't have time and left. It's a shame, because anyone who has ever been to the reservoir and knows how beautiful it is will think twice about going there again after eating there! It definitely worked out for us!!

Wie man hier behandelt wird von der Leiterin (hoffentlich nicht Besitzerin) spottet jeder Beschreibung.Zuerst wird die Bedienung an den Holztischen verweigert,dann wird man frech aufgefordert zu gehen,wenn man nichts am Kiosk verzehrt und das obwohl man zuvor an der Theke selbst ein Getränk geholt . Erklärung darüber wird mit drohenden Rausschmiss beantwortet.Wenn man Gastronomie nicht kann,sollte man es lassen!

Very nice for a short stay. Beautiful terrace with a view of the reservoir. Prices are a bit high, but given the location you can take it.

We were with 6 people. there and wanted to refresh ourselves with ice cream and cold drinks. Unfortunately, this wasn't possible because the cold milkshakes, which were supposed to contain ice cream scoops, were served without them. The children were served carelessly prepared scoops of ice cream with salted pretzels. According to the ice cream menu, there should be colorful streusel sauce and a little surprise. The surprise was probably the pretzels. Waiting 40 minutes for an ice cream or a cold soft drink can no longer be described as tolerance. The top of the dike won't see us there again. It's actually a shame, because a lot more should be possible with the ambience.

Nie wieder. Wir waren wirklich treue Kunden und sind gerne aus Baden-Württemberg angereist, um in der Deichkrone einen schönen Tag zu verbringen. War früher einfach Genial. Nur leider heute, 11.7. 2024 eine Katastrophe. Bestellung enthielt nur zum Teil die ausgewiesenen Inhalte und Eisgekühlte Waren, waren warm und ungenießbar. Die Bedienung ratterte ihren standardisierten Satz herunter, (tut mir leid), der sogar einem Kleinkind aufgefallen ist. Ein Skandal. - hier nie wieder. Es waren auch nur noch wenig Gäste anwesend - und das an einem sonnigen Tag. - hätte uns eigentlich Warnung genug sein müssen. Auf Eis und Getränke mussten wir 40 Minuten warten. Nein - das geht besser!!! Und mit uns nie wieder, solange diese Pächter drauf sind.

A great location with a great location right on the lake with a view of the water and the palm trees in front of it. The food is ok but the service really needs improvement. We waited too long for the food at 1 hour!

The restaurant was about 1/4 full, but we waited 50 minutes for our food. This seems to be standard here, when a group inquired about their food it was dismissed as “disrespect” by the staff. Overall, a visit is not recommended!

I waited over 50 minutes for my food, but nothing came. The waitress was extremely disrespectful and unfriendly. When I asked a question, she seemed overwhelmed and even started screaming. Absolutely unacceptable service. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Disastrous service! My husband and I have been to the Deichkrone many times, but we have never been served as badly as we are today. The service person was unfriendly and rude, loudly made fun of the guests at the next table and also often rolled his eyes. Plates were also snatched out of my hands even though I just wanted to make room for them (starter wasn't cleared away but main course was already brought to the table). My husband's meal was a packaged lasagna, totally mushy ready-made food. We won't be coming back any time soon!

The taste of the food was perfectly fine, but the food we ordered was not as described on the menu. With the Chilli Cheese Fries, for example. was just a COLD cheese sauce slapped on it. Instead of a children's icebreaker as described, the bedside table only came with 2 scoops of ice cream, but the children's icebreaker was charged for. An ice cream scoop was ordered with the chocolate cake, but was not included in the bill. It's a shame, the ambience doesn't make it any better. Positive, the staff were very nice. Unfortunately the first and also the last visit.......

Extremely friendly service in a great atmosphere. We really liked the lighting inside. And otherwise very tastefully and comfortably furnished. The food was very tasty and also very quick. If we are in the area again, the restaurant is on the list.

The first service was very nice, you could forget the rest! Completely wilted mint in the mango-mint drink. When it comes to our complaint, the comment is still okay! If we had further concerns, the stuff was replaced. The food came without cutlery, only when asked! We had to share the only napkin! The outside of the wine glass was stained with crumbs from the dishwasher! The warm ingredient from the meal was cold and fried to death for me. The toilets were unclean, several washbasins didn't work, there was dirt, dust and cobwebs everywhere. We were there again today due to the change of tenant, but it wasn't a good idea. Our wedding celebration in the Deichkrone was unfortunately disappointing. The meal took an incredible three hours and the buffet was replenished far too slowly. The kitchen staff openly admitted that they couldn't keep up with the food. One wedding guest even had to forego his desired dish twice. In addition, the plates at the buffet were dirty. In stark contrast, the day guests were served with full plates. The promised closure of the terrace did not exist, so our guests had to turn away other guests who wanted to eat there. Due to the lack of privacy screens, which were also promised, you felt like you were on a presentation plate. The staff was completely reorganized and demotivated. Drinks were not brought to the place in a timely manner and in liquid form. The toilets were dirty and contaminated by the vomit of the festival guests, although the bride and groom were assured that the toilets would be reserved for the wedding party. Soap was also missing. The promised parking spaces were also not sufficiently available because they were occupied by employees. Only after the hassle of re-parking did all of the guests find a space. Drinks that had previously been contractually agreed upon with the bride and groom were suddenly not on the menu and were only available after intense criticism from the groom's mother. We had hoped that the change of ownership would bring a breath of fresh air, but unfortunately we have to say that the dike crown is not recommended in its current condition. The only explanation for the star award is that you can't review it otherwise, I would prefer none given.

From here we are after one Breakfast buffet started by bike towards Nordhorn. The buffet was very good.

The 2 stars are for the food and the other is for a nice waitress, the rest was a complete disaster. Six of us ate there yesterday. When someone finally came to take our drinks when we asked, two of them were served dirty and one of them had my apparent predecessor's lipstick on the side. These were replaced after a complaint. Everything was very delayed and the last wine that was ordered never arrived. The toilets are old & in need of renovation. We don't know if we'll come back...
