Das Syrische Restaurant in Bochum

The Syrian restaurant is very child-friendly. There are 3 high chairs here, which is an extraordinary amount for a restaurant of this size. Even our twins (currently 2 years old) are always looked after in a friendly manner. The food is perfect. The lamb skewers were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Simply perfect.

Unfortunately not quite as authentic a restaurant as hoped. Baba ghaboush and hummus were disappointing, shawarma so-so, mix-grill was very good. The staff is friendly, but also experienced. The personal touch is missing. Dessert selection is sad.

Waited over 30 minutes for beautifully ordered food. Outrageous.

If I could I would give zero stars. Every time I go out to eat there I don't get my fries until I'm done eating and putting on my jacket. And they never have pizza, manakish or anything else, there is hardly any choice, mostly just meat but then they have to bring out the other menu.

We had the falafel once and the shawarma Arabi plate and were thrilled. Very good portion and incredibly tasty. But the best thing was the service. Really sweet and when my friend asked for a sauce, which unfortunately was already gone, we got three really tasty dips on the house. So we will definitely come more often! :)

Food was too finished and the crispy chicken stiks were simply fried with cornflakes from the supermarket. Service is too overpriced. I will never come to this store again.

The food arrived very late, and each meal arrived exactly the same, 10 minutes apart. The food was not clean, and while eating, I saw a hair!!!!! An experience that will never be repeated.

We were there for the first time today, we wanted to go out for a delicious Syrian meal, but it didn't happen because the hygiene condition of the shop is a disaster. This is only topped when you really have to go to the toilet. A case for the health department.

I'll say this...the food tasted very good, but we waited a long time. I don't like the Tualette... I think it was very messy there...No paper, disinfectant, wet things on the floor...Dirty. I value cleanliness. Please take care of them. Order for the tualettes.

Unfortunately, a bad experience...

The food just wasn't tasty, we had to wait around 30 minutes at the table for our food and it wasn't even fresh. The staff were actually very friendly and apologized for the delay, but that doesn't make it much better. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone😔.

My mom was generally with the Syrians for the first time. The taste was ok, but she has never had such a small portion with so little meat in her entire life, and she hardly eats anything. The plates of the supposed compatriots looked different. It's not a reference for all businesses, but if you feel like the Syrian is screwing over the German, you won't come anymore.

Had stomach pain for 3 days. Never again.

Had dinner there for the first time today, ordered sharwarma and falafel, the sharwarma came, the fries were cold and the cucumbers and carrots that came with it were dry and you could taste that they were old. After half an hour we asked where the falafel were then we were told there were none. That's a no-go, making us wait without letting them know that the food isn't available. There was no change either. Once and never again.

This is the best restaurant, God willing, one of the best restaurants in Germany. The pizza is excellent for broasted and shawarma. There is no enemy of God, may God bless him. I swear I ate there, and they are one of the best restaurants.

Been there three times and received the wrong order all three times! This is really disappointing! The food tastes good, but the service is very bad. Plus, of course, they work there without gloves!

I would prefer to give it just 1 star, it only took 1.5 hours for delivery. The food was cold and full of oil, drinks were not delivered. If you call you are forwarded to 10 people until a delivery person came again and then even delivered the wrong drinks. Dirty shop, dirty service!! Just don't order there🙏

My partner ordered food via Lieferando at 7:10 p.m. on March 20, 2024, and we tried to reach the restaurant by phone at 9:10 p.m., unfortunately without success. At 9:30 p.m. there was still no food.

Ate here for the first time today and I have to say that the food was really very fresh and tasty. The employees/owners were also very friendly :))). They have plenty of seats in the restaurant and you can hang out comfortably inside.👍

Every time I go there, shawarma is prepared differently. Today I experienced the highlight: mayo rolled into bread, two strips of pickled cucumber (“salt”), meat and then the whole thing was roasted in oil. The bread was dripping with oil.

Update v. 04/24/24: Today I received a notification from Google, via the operator's lawyer, that I was not known to him - that could well be because I was a walk-in customer and it was just a snack bar and because of my Overall impression no regular customer became there. Furthermore, my review would correspond to untrue factual claims - it's just that many objective reviews here coincide with mine. I hereby certify under oath that my review was true at the time and will be happy to repeat this in court. Furthermore, this can and will be witnessed by third parties if necessary. P.S. The legal fees and energy would be better spent on the cause of the bad reviews and not on the effects. I had the large shawarma plate with rice to take away - for €12. The service was friendly, but some of the prepared food was touched with the bare hand. The snack bar is far from a restaurant and seemed unkempt and neglected. The alleged chicken meat was already in very small pieces (1-1.5cm) under the right skewer, in an unsightly light pink color. The meat wasn't tender, but it was dull and had a firm consistency. It didn't taste good and luckily the portion of meat was more than small. Therefore, the high price is not justified given the quality and quantity. This was my worst and last shawarma plate in this company so far. - that's how you lose customers. Update 4/24/24: I received one from Google today

This is the second time we have had stomach pains and nausea. The service is OK. The ambience could be improved, including toilets. The food looks promising, but cannot compete with the freshness, quality and taste of other Syrian restaurants that prepare fresh and on demand. The restaurant was simply great 5-6 years ago. Unfortunately, the last two times within 1.5 years we had stomach pains and nausea. The day before yesterday we were there after a long struggle and unfortunately not much has happened. The rice tasted stale, the chips and bread were recycled and reheated. Unfortunately we had our toddler with us. It couldn't eat any of this. The black tea is also very diluted and tasteless. We hope that the criticism will be taken into account here.

EDIT 04/24/24: The restaurant has given a legal warning about my review. I would like to emphasize once again that I was actually a customer at this restaurant and my review reflects my personal experience and does not make any factual statements. Catastrophe. 1. The food tasted terrible. The meat had a very sour taste. Scary, so discarded after a few bites. 2. There is no structure, the staff is obviously overwhelmed and the wait is very long. 3. The worst are the hygienic conditions. The employees wear gloves, but often only on one hand (???). But these are not changed at all. I observed an employee wiping his face/nose with his hand, then disposing of garbage and then arranging salad on a plate with both hands, all without changing his gloves or washing his hands. Well, enjoy your meal. The toilets are also in very poor condition. Do yourself a favor and leave your money somewhere else.

I asked for a second helping of sauce, which was given to me. However, I ended up being charged a lentil soup for it. This was an absolute disgrace, as I was neither given the relevant information nor was my displeasure dealt with appropriately.

This restaurant is very unclean. The toilet was full of feces and urine! Normally you would have to inform the public order office!

On Monday I called the store at 2 p.m. and ordered 2 kilos of lahmacun. I had visitors and wanted to pick up the food on time an hour before iftar. I also pointed out several times that it was important that I be in the store an hour before iftar. I want to pick up my order and I'm told in a very unfriendly manner that there is no order in my name or number, you might get confused and do something wrong, but that happens a lot at this store, do your job right or leave it be! Never again!

They weren't able to serve falafel with tabbouleh here, I actually had to order 2 separate dishes. The tabbouleh was so sour, but the falafel had almost no seasoning and the sauce had no taste. Unfortunately there was only still water, instead of the carbonated mineral water that was ordered. Food not recommended, service tried hard, ambience 👎 I can do without it. Absolutely not recommended ☹️

Actually pretty good food. Not outstanding, but definitely tasty. However, the hygiene is a disaster. Anyone who has just prepared the salad and meat goes to the checkout with the same gloves and gives out change, strokes their hair or wipes a stain from their shoe. Not invented, but seen that way. Toilets are also borderline. A pity. Could be really good with little effort...

I was here a few days ago and tried(!) to eat something. So I'm deliberately leaving out the rating for this point. When I (female, Central European) entered the Syrian restaurant, there was little going on. There were a few guests sitting at the tables, they had already had their food. I was asked about my order, it was taken but not processed. The only language spoken around me was Arabic, which I don't understand. After me, other guests gradually arrived and got their food before me - without any explanation. One guest even got what I ordered before me. I should then sit down and wait. The employee who asked me (in a friendly manner) came back a short time later with a chai, which he handed to a man who also entered the restaurant after me and also spoke Arabic. Since 20-25 minutes had now passed, I finally left without comment. Unfortunately, I also have to point out that in the past the food would have only gotten 2-3 stars from me. The Syrian Restaurant won't get another chance from me and should rethink its treatment of women (who don't speak Arabic).

I already wrote a review 3 years ago. I was there again today. According to the employee, our order should be ready in 15 minutes. WE WAITED 40MINUTES for our food. The waiter was very unfriendly and simply didn't like doing the job. It's a shame nothing has changed. we froze inside. The toilets were dirty and there was no toilet paper or paper towels! very very bad! Luckily the food tasted good, but we had to take half of it with us because we had to wait so long and otherwise wouldn't have come to our appointment.

Great employees very nice very polite. The portions are very large. A super delicious meal, we had lamb skewers and various types of meat. Plenty of tasty bread. Everything was hot to our delight. The rice has a great taste. So far so good. 4 stars only because it was a bit cool in the restaurant. There was hot tea at the end. Best regards from Schleswig-Holstein

Actually very tasty food, but the hygiene is not there. Whether you're the boss or just wearing a white shirt, you have no business being in the area where the food is served. It's just as bad to have arguments with employees in front of customers... and guys, why are you all wearing cool black gloves when you're already making the shawarma, collecting the money and swinging the broom behind the counter with a pair of gloves on? PS: this review was actually written while having diarrhea on the toilet.
