Da Gallo Restaurant in Heroldsberg

We visited Da Gallo in Heroldsberg and were unfortunately extremely disappointed. After ordering our drinks, we waited an unusually long time for our food – over an hour – without anyone even bothering to inquire, even though several employees (including the manager) walked past our apparently empty table several times. When we finally asked, no one knew what we had ordered or who had taken our order. The waitress who had taken our order became loud and irritated instead of apologizing – which was not only unprofessional but also unpleasant. Even when the manager intervened, there was no offer to rectify the mistake – not a word of apology, not a small compensation, not even a free espresso. Instead, she simply said, "The food's here now." For me, as a paying guest, this is simply outrageous. Mistakes can always happen – but how you handle them makes all the difference. Here, you feel like a nuisance as a guest. It was the first time I didn't tip—and definitely the last time I ate here as a guest. What a pity.

The selection is very limited, the food tastes mediocre, and the prices are very high. This is due to only two stars.

A first-class culinary experience From start to finish, the visit to this restaurant was a thoroughly impressive experience. The service was extremely professional – attentive, unobtrusive, and always with a feel for the right moment. Every member of staff made you feel welcome without seeming forced. The food was simply exquisite. Each course impressed with a successful combination of flavors, freshness, and craftsmanship. The attention to detail – both in terms of taste and presentation – is particularly noteworthy. The price range is absolutely appropriate for what is offered. This is definitely not a bargain, but by no means exorbitantly luxurious either. Rather, the value for money reflects the high quality and the special overall experience. It's simply astonishing how culinary excellence, an atmospheric ambiance, and first-class service merge into a harmonious whole. The food was incredibly delicious, but we had to wait 2.5 hours for our food because the chef was ill. This wasn't communicated to us at all. We were just told... it'll take a little while. It's a real shame. Not even the incredibly delicious food can make up for it. No apologies, etc.

Whether you like classic Italian cuisine or prefer something a little more unusual, there's something for every taste. The service and ambiance are authentic and leave nothing to be desired. I went to this place on recommendation and I must say that expectations were greatly exceeded. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with courtesy and professionalism by the staff, who proved to be kind and helpful throughout the evening. The environment is taken care of down to the smallest detail: clean, tidy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you immediately feel at ease. But the real protagonist was the food. The menu offers an interesting and well-balanced selection, with dishes that enhance the product without weighing it down. We ordered several fish-based courses and one was better than the other: very fresh raw fish, tasty first courses with perfectly balanced flavours. You can clearly feel that the fish is of the highest quality and treated with great care. In short, a more than positive experience: a place that absolutely deserves to be tried by those who love to eat well and appreciate good fish. I will definitely return and recommend it without hesitation!

Travelling across Germany i have been in so many "suppose to be" italienische restaurants... And finally, out of the blue, i found in Herolsberg a REAL italian restaurant!! Good quality of the ingredients, tasty food, perfect service. A wonderful and unexpected surprise in this little town close to Nürnberg!!

We celebrated our civil wedding in the Gallo restaurant on February 15th and it was a dream. The food was delicious, the whole team was super nice and warm and the atmosphere is also great, very cozy and modern. We had a three-course menu, Italian starter plates, fillet of Iberico pork, for the vegetarians there was a risotto with pomegranate seeds, goat cheese and mint and for dessert a chocolate soufflé with pistachio ice cream. Everything was excellent, including the wine. We and our guests were thrilled. Everything was discussed professionally in advance and our wishes were taken into account in detail. I can only recommend it 👍🏼👍🏼😊 we will always remember this day fondly.

We've just come from the "Da Gallo" here in Heroldsberg and were just at Luka's for a Sunday evening snack. As always, the owners and their team gave us a lovely evening. Whether I was there for business or pleasure, whether we had a large meal or just a nice glass of wine and a snack, it was always a pleasure. Today we ate a "Tegame", a fish pan with toasted slices of bread, with Pinot Grigio for the lady, a glass of Chardonnay for the gentleman, and finally a cafe espresso... a nice chat with my loved one... what more could you want? An absolute recommendation in the north of Nuremberg!

My experience here was nothing less than perfect! The waiter, chef, food, wine, dessert, for a moment I thought I was in Italy...had the gnocchi in a gorgonzola, I ordered more bread to sop up the gravy!

My husband and I really enjoyed the New Year's Eve menu. First-class menu sequence, ambience, staff and the owner couple are great and always in a good mood. Big praise for the achievement of creating a 7-course meal for 50 guests. Hats off. The da Gallo in Heroldsberg is highly recommended and we will definitely enjoy it again in regular operation. And again it's time to update my review after almost 3 years. Unfortunately this time it wasn't very positive. Before we give our new review, we would like to say that the cuisine, the hospitality of the Gallo family and the ambience of the restaurant are still excellent. For this reason, we have asked the Gallo family to host a small celebration for us and a few guests in their restaurant at the end of September. The preliminary discussion and planning was very professional. Here you can already feel that Luca is a very innovative restaurateur. A 4-course menu was put together for us. The reception was very nice. The long table was beautifully set. As already mentioned, the food was really excellently prepared. Unfortunately, the individual courses, especially the main course, were so small and there were only a few side dishes that you couldn't really guess what side dishes they were supposed to be, so we were still really hungry after the meal. That was absolutely not what we know and are used to from him. After completely trashing his 2nd annual celebration, he went one better at our celebration. Not that we're misunderstanding each other: the food was excellent. Unfortunately, he served it as if he were a star chef and we were in a star restaurant and all at a star price that can really make you dizzy. At this point I would just like to mention the price for a small espresso. 6€ is grossly excessive. You could also describe the whole thing as “disproportionate”. Hence our request at this point. Luca please stay on the ground. You are a really good and innovative cook. Don't ruin it with such airs and graces. It would be a shame if Heroldsberg lost such an excellent location. Despite our surprise at the organization of our small event, we would like to mention how impressed we are by the very innovative and very high-quality Italian cuisine during our visits. Even after almost 3 years, not only the innovations of the excellent Italian cuisine, but also the warmth with which the Gallo family welcomes and hosts their guests are so gracious that every time we visit we feel as if we were with the family for Sunday dinner. We can no longer imagine Da Gallo, with its excellent Venetian cuisine and its warm and cozy ambience, as an institution in Heroldsberg.

Update to old review, 5 stars from now on. The first visit resulted in 4 points. Service has clearly improved! Super friendly and warm-hearted. We stayed for a very long time and felt completely at home in a lovely atmosphere. The food was phenomenally delicious and the kind that can only be found in the right corners of Italy. The pasta would be cooked too "hard" for most guests without an Italian background, but it's just right and fantastic! The quality of the ingredients is also remarkable. With no Italian. I got a San Daniele ham of this quality from the supermarket in Germany. The drink prices were a bland aftertaste. The wine was again excellent, but an apple spritzer for €5, a bottle of water for €6.50 and an espresso for €2.50 were not.

We ate a wonderful risotto here today. Great service, very cozy atmosphere. It is highly recommended. We will come again.

We ate very tasty gnocchi, pinsa and bruschetta as a starter. Everything was very very tasty. Big compliments to the kitchen! The selection on the menu is just right, not too much/too little. The owners are very nice and you can see that the restaurant and the preparation of the food are done with love. We'll be back! :)

We brought the decorations ourselves and the team executed them beautifully. We spent an unforgettable day there. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. A highlight for everyone who loves Italian cuisine. The weekly menu is always a highlight. The service is excellent, always a smile. And the food is simply amazing, regardless of whether it's a starter (bruschetta selection is second to none), main courses (all recommended) and dessert (panna cotta and creme Catalan). Very quaint restaurant with decent food and friendly service

I have never eaten mahi mahi. So delicious! As a starter I had spaghetti with prawns from the daily menu. Absolute recommendation - and all bambinos are also welcome at Luca! 🥰

Service is friendly but unfortunately it always takes a while until someone comes. The food is good but the portions are sometimes very small. The fish with some asparagus and mini side dishes for €30 is enough to lose weight. But we'll still come back because it's comfortable inside and outside.

Friendly & super tasty and a really great atmosphere. The historic Franconian farm has been lovingly restored - the interior is stylish and modern. Healthy cuisine - something different than just pizza & pasta - although that is also available there - but with a bit of fine-tuning :)

A must for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. The menu changes again and again, the boss personally advises on the wine selection, and the service and ambience are excellent. The children's wishes are taken into account. We really enjoy coming here.

The four of us reserved a table there and were assigned the one in the vaulted cellar. At first glance, an interesting atmosphere. There were a lot of guests there and of course everyone was chatting. This created a carpet of noise that made communication at the very large table and the correspondingly large seating distance considerably more difficult. The bruschetta we ordered was topped with lots of small, halved tomatoes, which immediately fell back onto the plate when I picked it up. The tagliere pizzas we ordered were served lukewarm. Hm... Well, the high price level meant we could expect better. However, the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. The staff was very friendly, the charming boss went to every table and asked if everything was OK.

A truly fantastic restaurant! Refined trattoria atmosphere, simple and traditional dishes prepared with absolutely Italian ingredients. 100% authentic dishes, you can eat divinely! It's really rare to find places like this that make you feel at home! Luca and his wife welcomed us like old friends, we had a great time and we can't wait to return. They also have an excellent selection of wines that they buy directly in Italy. It is really worth visiting this restaurant, which is easily accessible from Nuremberg. Thanks for everything!

Located in a very secluded area within nuremberg but there's a hidden gem. Came here with colleagues and we had superb food & good company for the evening. We let our colleague to pick our food & we were amazed by the presentation of the food, when we put into our mouth, it's tantalisingly awesome 😋 highly recommend for foodies.

Today we had an honor to eat at Da Gallo. The octopus with rosemary potato puree was a dream. Octopus was tender but crispy. Rosemary potato puree was really so delicious that you couldn't stop. Gniochi with prawns reminded us of the sea. A little spicy and very tasty. The spicy taste was balanced with cream and fish flavor . Simply delicious. Then Iberico Medalions with porcini mushroom sauce and truffle potato purrè. The porcini mushroom sauce and truffle potato urrè made me addicted to the taste. I wanted more and more. Then our dessert: Tiramisu (very good) and Panacotta with currant Kontiture.Panacotta was so delucious, heaven on the plate. I would like to thank the chef very much! They're great. We have eaten in many very good restaurants (including in Italy), but tonight was worth every euro we paid. I hope to see you soon 😀

Restaurant Da Gallo in Heroldsberg The Da Gallo restaurant in Heroldsberg has been around for a good 14 months. Certainly some will use the property previous tenants still know it under the name “so Sein”. We were there at irregular intervals for the 14 months frequent guests there. Admittedly, it took a while for Luca, as owner, to find his team and the process, but it's been fine After three months, the visit is not just culinary (that's what it was from the beginning), but also everything around it. a “heavenly little Italian break.” Da Gallo has found the perfect host in his wife Lydia. She never had to learn this, you with her warm-hearted, radiant manner, lives hospitality, which you cannot learn in a seminar. Luca, has his Role now finally found as “head chef and patron”. Now it has become a restaurant that we like a lot trust potential. The cuisine and love in the dishes is great and of outstanding quality! Stands for us Since Gallo is the two big Italian names (one has just changed hands) in the Nuremberg area in no way inferior to the food. We see that da Gallo is clearly at the forefront of Italian restaurants Nuremberg area! Bravo! We also took photos last time to give you an authentic, genuine and real impression as a guest give. These are simply photos taken with the cell phone, without Lydia or Luca knowing we were writing this report It doesn't get any more real, honest and authentic than that. We started at a really lovely table in the vault, with a bottle of Emma Borga from the very hyped Four Generations wine family from Veneto. The special thing here is that the white Manzoni matures in barriques for 18 months, while the Traminer rests in steel. Once the mixture is ready, the refinement in the bottle continues for at least 4 months. A really very tasty wine, especially since this time the starters consisted of the main courses that we ordered. Namely: First (Simultaneously in the middle) Burrata con Pomodorini Colorati (Burrata with colorful cherry tomatoes) Pappardelle al Ragu d’Anatra e Barolo (pappardelle with duck ragout and Barolo wine) Cacio e Pepe e Guanciale (Spaghetti with Pecorino cheese, pepper and guanciale) As main courses we had the following from the daily menu: Branzino in crosta di Zucchini (sea bass with zucchini crust) Filetto di Iberico con Pane croccante all'Aglio, Porcini e Aspargi Verdi (Iberico fillet with crispy garlic bread, fresh porcini mushrooms and green asparagus) decided. Afterwards coffee and (no picture – it was gone too quickly) and a pannacotta alla fragola and finally a sip of Pisoni Mirtillo (blueberry) It was really, really good. Look at the pictures, a special treat, with unusual dishes can be found at every restaurant. We are very happy if the weather finally gets better, and we outside on the great terrace, try the rest of the menu. We award for the development over the 14 months, the quality and taste of the food Host quality and the overall ambience 9.8 out of 10 possible points on our Richter scale. We look forward to further culinary trips to the heart of Veneto! It's great that we now have a second such special Italian restaurant in the Nuremberg area, which is so clearly different and stands out from the other Italian restaurants thanks to the dishes on the menu! Great Italian cuisine, very nice ambience and good service

High-priced restaurant with rather manageable portions, some of which were almost the size of a starter. Our group found most of the food to be tasty in terms of quality. My fish pan was actually a seafood or mussel pan with lots of chili and a few pieces of toasted bread instead of real side dishes. The wait for the food was an hour, even though most guests had already eaten after 8 p.m. The ambience is very nice. Queuing is compulsory in the rare toilets.
