The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and authentic. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the visit very pleasant. Unfortunately, the condition of the building mars the overall impression. A renovation or at least a refresh would be desirable to do justice to the great food and service.

From a favorite restaurant to a disappointing farewell Three months ago, I discovered the Chinese restaurant Yan – and was immediately impressed. As someone who had a complete gastrectomy (my stomach was COMPLETELY removed due to a tumor), it's extremely difficult for me to find suitable restaurants. But here, I felt understood: They accommodated me with their prices, as I can only eat tiny portions. The food was solid, the atmosphere pleasant, and I felt truly comfortable. I ate there at least 9-10 times in those three months – which is a lot for me. I took my time, ate a little, waited, and slowly got the next plate. Never large portions, never "buffering," but rather adapted to my situation. That's exactly why I was so grateful for the restaurant – and have recommended it to everyone. Today, however, came the big disappointment: After the meal, I was suddenly informed that I would have to pay the full price from now on – even though my situation hadn't changed. No word beforehand, no explanation, simply a comment "decided by the boss." That's not only disappointing, but unfortunately also unprofessional. I've never eaten large portions, several tablespoons, but always very small, mini-portions spread out over a longer period of time – which is necessary due to my medical condition. Now charging the full buffet price, even though I'm well below average in terms of quantity, is incomprehensible to me. Even toddlers eat more than I do! Unfortunately, the restaurant has lost a loyal customer. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants with comparably good food and a better understanding of special life situations. What bound me to Yan – the feeling of being seen and respected – was suddenly gone. And yes, as I said, that's unfortunately the end of the Yan chapter for me. That's how you lose your regular customers. What a pity! Addendum to the original review: Thank you for your response. I would like to respond briefly, as I can't let your description stand – especially in light of my health situation. Yes, I've had a full gastrectomy – and yes, I often eat small amounts because there's no other option. That's exactly why I was with you for over three hours and ate a total of six small plates. And because I work with my nutrition coach (or nutrition assistant), I document each meal with a photo – so we can analyze together what I can tolerate. I've now added these pictures to my review. If you look at the photos, you'll see: those were mini portions. Sometimes just a bit of salad, two gummy bears, or three pasta dishes with vegetables. I just don't eat much – but I eat slowly and in moderation. If you now claim that I "significantly exceeded the limits" of the buffet, that's simply not correct. I think the photos speak for themselves. I followed the rule discussed: small portions – spread out over time. Of course, I understand that goodwill is based on trust. But trust works both ways. And I'm disappointed that my behavior is being misrepresented, even though I kept to our agreement—just as I did on my previous visits. Look at the photos. Honestly consider whether this looks to you like taking advantage of the buffet—or like someone simply trying to live with dignity and discipline after major surgery and limitations. Second addendum: Wow, what a nerve. To suggest I'm lying or cleared the plates myself 😡 The photos I uploaded show exactly what I ate. Nothing more, nothing less. I carefully document every meal because, after a full gastrectomy, I have to closely monitor what my body can tolerate. And my son is only 2.

Great place for fussy eaters as there is a variety of different dishes. A good price for the all you can eat Asian buffet. Tasty meals and very good cocktails. When you want a reasonably priced meal for 1 or more people

Some food items were better than others. The sushi, crispy chicken and duck were good. Stir fries were average. Best come with a big appetite because the price is steep at nearly 30 euros a head plus drinks.

Once and never again. For three children aged 6-8, they charge 15.90 euros. When I asked the lady about it, she became aggressive and started yelling. She then said that you pay exactly the same at McDonald's. My sister-in-law was also given a hard time by her. I think it's outrageous to charge 15.90 euros for children who eat for less than 10 euros. It just goes to show us how unfriendly everything has become towards children. We will never go to that store again. The lady at the checkout should take a course on how to deal with customers and how to speak properly. When she became aggressive, I turned my back on her, went to the exit and she yelled through the whole store. The internet says that children aged 3-11 pay between 8.90 and 21.90 euros. They set the prices as they see fit! One 3-year-old child was even charged 8.90 euros.

We came here for dinner and it was simply amazing, and the quality was also excellent! I recommend everyone stop here and eat.

It was a great atmosphere, definitely worth coming here. The food was fresh and quite delicious.

The lighting in the evening was a little off putting. The food on the other hand was absolutely delicious 😋 and the staff was very friendly & kind! We were very impressed with their hospitality & great quality food! ❤️ it was so delicious we forgot to take pictures & the robot made us laugh!

We're at Restaurant Yan today as a couple and are thrilled with the diverse buffet! The value for money is simply outstanding! There's something for everyone here! Kids and adults alike.

Large selection of food and it is always freshly made

The dinner buffet costs the same for vegetarians as for those who eat meat and fish. It's simply disproportionate. There are no breaded or baked vegetables, but mainly a self-assembled selection, along with rice, noodles, a bowl of vegetables, and one with mushrooms. I had already mentioned on a previous visit that I found it disappointing, whereupon I was offered the option of having breaded vegetables fried for me. I thought that was a generous gesture, and I was already pleased when the regular vegetables from the buffet were brought out on a plate and I was told that was all they could offer. I was somehow naively hoping that on a Saturday evening the buffet would be differently stocked and I might actually have a chance to get prepared vegetarian dishes. I can't tell you how much I like them. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, which is why I'd like to try the many other buffets. I've learned my lesson and won't try it again at this restaurant. Over €30 (on weekends and in the evenings, and drinks are mandatory—if you don't order a drink, you'll be charged a flat rate) doesn't sound right to me at all. It's not about the money at all, but purely about the disproportionate number of different meat and fish dishes, along with those without meat.

The food was very good and everything was very clean, the only negative thing was that there was only one girl cleaning, tidying up, serving and also cooking on the grill. The truth is that with the prices they have, they could at least hire more staff... the girl, despite being stressed, treated us very well and was quick with everything :) thanks!

Waited 10 minutes. Zero staff around. No waitress or anyone around. Two other group of guest were wandering around asking each other how is it working. Avoid the place as the staff is not exist until you have to pay!

The foods are ok. Service is quite slow. The atmosphere is still at 1980s Chinese restaurant vibe. As soon as you go in, you could smell this horrendous food smell. Not many choices.

The seafood is not bad but the Asian food buffet was missing many dishes. The price was somewhat expensive for a weekday.

Very fine food. Highly recommended as you can try different courses with different sauces. The all you can eat is absolutely recommended! Very nice service.

Wir sind mit unseren Töchtern nach einem Ausflug im Yan essen gegangen. Die Auswahl ist vielseitig, das Essen schmecht, das Personal sehr freundlich und die Preise fair. Das „Teppanyaki“, bzw. mogolischer Grill war sehr guet, viel verschiedenes Gemüse, Fleisch und Meeresfrüchte und auch gute Saucen machen es zu einem tollen Erlebnis. Wir werden wieder kommen und empfehlen das Yan gerne weiter.

The selection for the grill isn't very diverse, it had more fish than meat, but the grill is great and the food isn't as hot as the buffet, rather lukewarm to cold, but very tasty

Rating note: The visit was unsatisfactory. The reception was inadequate and there was no introduction to the restaurant. The cleanliness was acceptable, but the quality of the food was clearly below average and the flavor was poorly seasoned. Compared to other restaurants (e.g. Temanja in Lörrach), this restaurant offers a significantly lower quality; Even the food supply at the Lörrach Clinic appears to be superior. This is my personal assessment.

Nice and clean restaurant. Good and rich buffet. Lots of seats and yet enough distance between the individual tables. The only downside was it was a bit cold. But we'll be back :)

You think that an almost 5 star restaurant is all lies so that you get a free cocktail for writing a good review. I personally didn't like anything, there are much better Chinese restaurants in the area than here. Food is only refilled when it is completely empty, the selection is very minimal, the staff is never smiling, the atmosphere was simply not good and, above all, the price is far too much for such a restaurant.

This restaurant was absolutely not what we thought. It’s expensive!!!!! Never again. The service was good but the food wasn’t worth the price. It’s my honest opinion. Yes, they gave my kids a discount but it’s in their policy.

All you can eat buffet with great quality and big selection of food

We were here at lunchtime and the buffet is very manageable. Unfortunately, many dishes such as duck, calamari and everything baked were fried way too much, almost tough. A lot of things were just lukewarm. The service was very nice and quick. What pleasantly surprised us was the Teppanyaki grill. Lots of sauce and good taste, really hot. The price is rather upper limit in relation to the offer. Positively, if you eat in the restaurant you can park for free for 4 hours and use the time to shop. If you are in the area at lunchtime - we would not recommend going there.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Chinese restaurant Yan was disappointing. Even though we had reserved, we had to wait 20 minutes to get our table. The service then repeatedly ignored us, but after a while they came to us - at least a small ray of hope. The restaurant was overcrowded and the atmosphere was further disturbed by the loud screaming of children. The food was tasteless and definitely not what we were hoping for. Given the price of EUR 35.50 per person, we hoped that the food would at least be of good quality. The friendliness of the service should be mentioned positively, which was at least a small consolation. Overall, however, the experience was unsatisfactory and I would not recommend it.

Were there on New Year's Eve, reservation was forgotten - then (after a long wait) we were seated at the table with others. Food was far too greasy and not much choice. Meat was too tough and hard to chew. Even the dessert was just so-so. The floor was super slippery - you had to walk like penguins on black ice. Service was unfortunately also poor, although they were friendly, you had to remind them several times to order drinks or that you wanted to pay. Definitely not coming back. The extra charge due to the New Year's Eve menu was definitely not justified. Price-performance unfortunately very poor.

Dined here at Christmas for a higher price price than usual. It "claimed" te be a XXL buffet that evening, but everything was the same as usual. The waiting time of the grill is very long, because there is only one chef with a too small grill plate. Quality of the food was mediocre. Not worth the price on Christmas evening, but when compared to the original price, price/quality ratio should be ok.

The worst Chinese buffet I have ever eaten in De District, everyone must avoid lightning! It’s so easy for foreigners to make money for the Germans. There is no Chinese chef in her family, and 90% of the pre-made ingredients are deep-fried, high in oil and salt, and the Coke is watered down and the air is not enough. She is speechless and suspects that the boss is just trying to get good reviews. Re: The boss's reply was hilarious. The two of them tasted 2 hot dishes in total, two stacks of deep-fried dishes and two stacks of hot-fried dishes. They just tasted the taste, and then ate some fairly fresh fruit. There was no human service throughout the whole process, and it turned out that one person ate 15 plates. Especially the hot stir-fry, the so-called iron plate, the shrimps cooked by the chef smelled like pot water and preservatives, which was hard to swallow. In short, this Chinese restaurant does not have a real Chinese chef. The purpose of this review is only to remind Chinese people not to step on the wrong thing. As for the boss's so-called international taste, let the German friends enjoy it. . .

The food really didn't taste very good, very bland and the meat tasted strange. The sushi tastes like it came from the supermarket. The drinks are grossly overpriced and the service wasn't great either. I actually regret eating there.
