Unfriendly, expensive and little choice

My partner and I visited the China Star on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, around 6:00 PM. We were greeted and shown to our table. The buffet selection was excellent. All the dishes on offer were plentiful. Freshly grilled dishes from the live cooking grill arrived at the table within 5-10 minutes. Empty plates were cleared away quickly. Of course, it probably depends on the time of day you go. I can't confirm the negative reviews—at least not for our visit. The prices—even the newly adjusted prices—are justified in my opinion these days. I can't expect all-you-can-eat and all-drinks (soft drinks, beer, etc.) for €20. I won't get that full for €30 anywhere else! :) Keep up the good work! We'll be back!

At 8:00 PM, it wasn't full, but it was okay. Two things were freezing, and the food wasn't cooked properly or was freezing. The staff were very nice. Otherwise, everything was okay.

We had the lunch buffet. The food was a mess. Some of the appetizers were cold, and the buffet wasn't replenished. Unfortunately, the restaurant gets worse every year. We were served again.

Unfortunately, there's no signage at the buffet indicating whether the food is vegetarian or vegan. This would be very helpful for customers. The drinks selection is excellent! The food is okay, often empty, and a bit expensive for the selection.

Hello, today we were again at the Cina Star and it was as always very nice and good. Friendly people and a great buffet.

The buffet is very plentiful and fresh, with a wide selection, including vegan options. A Mongolian buffet with lifestyle cooking, very tasty, and everything very fresh.

I was here for the first time with my family and relatives. We were celebrating a birthday. It's recommended to make a reservation for a large group. The food selection is huge. There are various options of vegetables, meat, fish, and other dishes. There are plenty of desserts (ice cream, cakes, chocolate fountains, etc.), and you can drink as much as you like—there's something for everyone. We'd love to come back.

It's not what it used to be. Some plates are dirty, the food is bland and sometimes cold. The staff seems very dissatisfied. The price-performance ratio isn't right.

I'll be happy to come back again and again!

It's deteriorated considerably... The live cooking is catastrophic... everything here is stored on ice and then stir-fried until it's unrecognizable. Even the thinly sliced beef was impossible to chew... the prepared dishes were okay... dessert was the cheapest of the cheap... and now it's also far too expensive. The decor has also seen better days... In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before the place closes...

Very poor quality food arrived today. 3 adults, 2 of whom had diarrhea, and a small child vomited three times the following evening. I don't think I need to say anything more.

The man at the reception was very nice and accommodating, and despite the hot weather, everything was great. The food was freshly prepared and there was plenty of it.

We go back every time. It's a really nice location here. Tastes very good. Thanks to the team!

Very good food, nice people and good prices

The food is delicious; we always come here with the whole family to eat. The staff is friendly and the place is very clean. The buffet is always full and very reasonably priced because drinks are included, and there's no time limit. Highly recommended.

Disappointment – ​​we were there for almost two hours, during which time some of the buffet items were never replenished – the same sad leftovers and long-gone-tough breading. The Mongolian Grill isn't bad, but as others have noted, it's plagued by long wait times, even though it's barely busy. Even €30 all-inclusive is too much.

As some have already written...some of the staff are very unfriendly, and unfortunately, the food isn't particularly good either. The price/performance ratio is rather poor.

The buffet at 8 p.m. was nothing but leftovers, the fried food was soggy, and the chop suey was evaporating. The rice was dry and stale. Fresh food wasn't replenished, but the buffet cost €30.90 per person, including a drink. They charge two euros for every unfinished plate or empty glass. Absolutely not recommended!

Chinese Mongolian buffet restaurant. Very pleasant atmosphere, good quality food and a very large selection. You choose your own drinks from refrigerators with glass doors, there is also a coffee machine, and there is a menu for cocktails. There were enough parking spaces at lunchtime, but I can't say what it's like in the evening.

1 star Unfortunately a failure. At first glance the restaurant makes a solid impression, but the reality is different. The selection at the buffet was disappointingly small, a lot of it didn't seem fresh, and the sushi was poor quality - soggy rice, watery fish and visually more sad than appetizing. The Mongolian grill could have been the highlight, but here too the quality of the ingredients left a lot to be desired - and then we had to wait forever until the food was finally ready. The service was unfriendly and seemed stressed. All in all, unfortunately not a recommendation - I prefer showering with soy sauce, I get more of the “Asian feeling”.

Was there 3 times, had the worst stomach cramps 3 times. Reviewed accordingly, was then accused of defamation and the review was deleted.

So I ate there with my wife. All I can say is never again. I don't know where the good reviews come from, but the friendly staff are different. The food left a lot to be desired. The duck, I always read the duck was a treat for the palate I should have asked for money from my wife instead of paying

Went there for lunch, unfortunately only mostly fried things (mostly cold), or unfortunately very greasy, unfortunately didn't taste that good. The only good thing is the price during the week, as drinks are included.

Last time on New Year's Eve someone walked in next to the toilet while doing their business and almost carried the brown trace into the restaurant.

Very greasy food, floor was slippery due to the fat. Staff very hectic and not always friendly. You were only allowed to drink by tap and refrigerators were locked. The chocolate fountain was switched off at 1:15 p.m. Price/performance not recommended.

Hello, the food was quite okay. Chinese buffet all you can eat. As with many buffets, it was only lukewarm. The price of 30 euros including drinks was quite high. The atmosphere is more like a canteen. But the staff, especially the lady at reception, was really very unfriendly. The rest of the service staff couldn't help but smile either. I won't go there anymore.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has declined greatly. Some of the food didn't taste good at all and it really wasn't good. I used to enjoy going here, but that was my last visit there. It's probably more mass than class now. The service has also decreased, but is still completely satisfactory. I really like the atmosphere, but it was very cold in the restaurant. Prices are too expensive in terms of price/performance ratio.

Mongolian, as always, very good and everything else is pretty good, but the fact that you now have to pay over 30 per person is a huge exaggeration for the fact that 70% of the food is fried. Great buffet and drinks included. Then interesting to go in the evening if Zeot is available. Liniert were able to try everything and definitely found what they were looking for at the dessert buffet with a chocolate fountain

A very simple Mongolian where the shock fountain doesn't work properly. Bananas unfortunately covered the yellow again. To eat, duck and pasta were cold and full of gristle. Squid rings really licked, my employees and I ate as if we were in Mecces. Potato wedges and chicken nuggrts...... Really high quality food is not offered. The service was quite nice and was informed, she asked us to go to the manager at the cash register. Described everything to the boss, she acted as if she didn't understand us and only asked for a card or bar.... And very unfriendly when you tell the truth. Paid the first and last time, you won't see me in your restaurant anymore. Mecces is a better alternative than this restaurant.

I can only recommend it! We love going here so much. You always get something. The noodles and duck are a real culinary delight. The drinks were great 👍 delicious. However, I wouldn't come without drinks as they simply have to be included in the price!! I'm already looking forward to next time

A few years ago it was okay, now it's just a disaster!

Celebrated my birthday in this restaurant yesterday, November 16, 2024, and everyone was thrilled with the food and drinks buffet and the price was okay. Can only recommend this restaurant.

The China Star restaurant in Donauwörth offers a wide selection of Chinese dishes and is particularly impressive with the quality and taste of the dishes. The portions are generous and the dishes are freshly prepared. Particularly recommended are the fried noodles and the sweet and sour pork, both of which are seasoned to perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and inviting, ideal for a relaxed meal. The decor is typical of Chinese restaurants, but could be modernized in some places to make it even more comfortable. A small point of criticism concerns the friendliness of some of the employees. While the majority of the team is very accommodating and polite, there were unfortunately a few moments when the service seemed a little less friendly and attentive. This spoils the overall experience a bit, as warm service would make the visit even more pleasant. Nevertheless, China Star is a recommended restaurant if you fancy Chinese cuisine. Anyone who appreciates the atmosphere and the food will definitely find what they are looking for here!

We've been to the China Star before, but unfortunately I have to say they've totally dropped in terms of friendliness and value for money. There wasn't much going on on Saturday lunchtime, but at a price of 23.90 per person you should at least fill up the buffet and not just at Make inquiries.... Sorry, never again

Staff friendly. We were there in the evening and the food was between lukewarm and cool. It's just a shame, otherwise it wouldn't have been bad. Soup was hot. There is a good selection of drinks.

Five of us were there yesterday because a very good friend lives nearby. I've tried some All You Can Eat local ones and I have to say this was the worst of them all. First something positive. The drinks were included in the price. The selection was good, even if it wasn't to my taste (drinks) Now let's get to dinner. Some of it was oversalted or tasteless. The selection was small. There are better places in Nuremberg/Fürth for a similar price. The receptionist was very unfriendly and nothing was explained to us. My husband also received an email today regarding alleged defamation from Google. This is a really great scam to remove negative reviews and boost the star rating. The only thing that was written in the review was that there was a large canteen atmosphere there. Some people also gave this rating a thumbs up. My husband has objected and I hope everyone else won't be silenced either.

We helped ourselves from the buffet and started with the Peking soup. It was also pretty tasty... At first there wasn't any sushi... later it was refilled but the selection looked different... only two types... we then put together a plate for the Mongolian barbecue with various sauces to choose from... .quite honestly quite a dry affair...meat was as tough as leather...after a plate of fried noodles and beef (quite good) I tried the prawns, which actually tasted like nothing...vanilla ice cream and vanilla ice cream for dessert Baked pineapple... stomach pain started with dessert... I didn't find it very convincing... Conclusion: I think it was my last visit, the price/performance ratio is no longer right... for the same money I think you can spend a better evening somewhere else...

Das Essen war soweit lecker gewesen, der Empfang jedoch von der Dame ( vermutlich die Chefin ) war eine Katastrophe. Sie war sehr unfreundlich und wirkte sehr genervt. Man kam sich unerwünscht vor. Somit war der start zum essen mit der Familie sehr angespannt und bedrückend.

Mixed feelings. My fiancé and I were the first people to open. The first grilled dishes were ok (photos). For the second time, the grilled food was MEGA FAT. Sushi ok. Beer is good. Coffee is just milk. And the food from the basic counter isn't very good. The chicken smelled strange. The juice from the fridge was very sweet 😏 But luckily Apfelschorle was sugar-free. 29 euros per person and we probably won't come back :)

sehr sehr unfreundlich, Buffett wurde nicht aufgefüllt, sollten uns vor Ablage für dreckiges Geschirr setzen und wurden um 13.05 Uhr darauf angesprochen, dass um 14.00 Uhr Schluss ist. Mit was? Essen wurde schon um 13.05 nicht aufgefüllt. Nie mehr wieder!!!

Perhaps the worst Chinese buffet we have ever been to. The finished dishes in sauce all taste the same, beef is as hard as the sole of a shoe, the fried dishes are suffocating in breading, one plate of the freshly prepared one was completely burnt and the other just before it was dry and tough. All in all, under all dignity, we don't expect top cuisine in a buffet like this, but it was really inedible

Food was good especially the soup. Not as much glutamate as in other restaurants. There was enough of the different dishes on the buffet. Temperature of the food was so-so. Baked banana was so overripe that it was inedible. But all in all I will happily come back. The price for the diverse offering is more than justified 👍

So unfortunately we were there on a Saturday... it was packed.... There was a long queue at the buffet... the service staff tried to refill the things that had been taught... unfortunately it didn't always work that way. .. after 15 minutes of queuing, the things I wanted were empty... well, that's a shame... there weren't any bowls left for the soup either... after asking, I had to get it myself from a serving trolley (it was really busy)... So we'll definitely come back at some point but not at this time

Positive: The taste was very good and the counter was always fully stocked. There are parking spaces nearby. Negative: Totally overcrowded on Saturday evening and therefore way too loud in the restaurant. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a market hall. Totally okay with kids, if I had one on a date I would go somewhere else. As a family you count just under 100 euros.
