China Restaurant Kolaila in Bonn

I was a customer at Koaila for a long time, but from today on I won't go there anymore. The food is delicious, but it is not suitable for people eating alone or as a couple. In this case you will be served a much smaller portion, but you have to pay around 20-30 EUR per main course (which should be enough for several people). I feel extremely betrayed. In addition, it takes a long time for the food to arrive, even if the restaurant is empty. Reply to the comment below: That's exactly what I said above - since I usually come alone or with at most one other person, of course I'm not one of your regular customers. As a guide, I usually spend 40-50 EUR per visit if I come alone and 70-80 EUR in total if there are two of us. The restaurant is best suited to larger groups as you can then order several main courses to share. This is common in authentic Chinese restaurants. This way the cost per person is lower and everyone can try more dishes. The only thing I don't think is fair is that you make the portions smaller just because a group is smaller (or if someone is alone), which you have never done before today. I wish you all the best and hope you continue to provide delicious food.

Dec. 2024: Very tasty food! Asian with a difference. If you want to eat something other than the buffet, you will find a very interesting selection of Asian dishes far from the mainstream.

Super authentic restaurant with lots of choice. Great taste, worth a detour. Parking is available around the corner in the Operngarage. In my opinion, people who complain about long waits are whiners: it does take some time to prepare everything, but they never have to wait extremely long. If you want a quick meal, go to McDonalds

We were here before the opera performance and twice because we liked it so much the first time that we put it on our program straight away :) The opera house is right around the corner. Hardly comparable to most Chinese restaurants, very authentic(!), the food was great, the portions perfectly balanced, not too much and not too little. The staff was super friendly, helpful and accommodating. 5 stars are still not enough :) the next visit is already planned and we are looking forward to the delicacies. Keep it up ;)

The restaurant seems a bit bare and the furnishings are cool. The service was okay so far. The food came to the table quickly. The food was super delicious! Authentic dishes but also something for everyone. The crispy eggplants were delicious! Addictive factor! The dishes are designed to be easy to share. So you order a few dishes and everyone is mine. Definitely won't be the last visit!

The place is not a Buffet, the prices are very high and the food meee. I don't recommend it and the service is bad 🫠

The food tastes pretty good. The service is average and the food prices are on the high side. Rice has to be paid extra. Very authentic place for Chinese food especially if you are looking for Sichuan food. It's spicy and taste exactly like the restaurants in China. Service is great and the atmosphere is relaxed.

The food was ok, what we ate was just way too expensive. It used to be all you can eat. We sat in the restaurant for a long time, unfortunately no one asked us if we wanted something to drink. Unfortunately I have to ask myself the question why is this shop still open? If you read the map everything looks like you are in China. Well, unfortunately we won't be visiting this restaurant again. I haven't taken pictures of my food in a very long time. Where else could I have gotten this much cheaper and much tastier, and the food would have been hot there too. It's a shame that we rated this restaurant so poorly, it used to be the best I knew. Years ago, when it opened, I tried Kolaila's lunch buffet. It was really not good, even for Chinese restaurants in Germany, which is saying something. I'd had hopes for the menu, but given the price and the so so experience, I didn't rush to go back. Tonight I tried the menu. I had the green beans with Sichuan pepper and chili, and the shredded pork with garlic fish flavored sauce. I was at first disappointed to see they had made broad beans rather than princess beans, as advertised. But that feeling gave way as I tasted both dishes, which were outstanding. The pork in particular was stupidly addictive, but also surprisingly light. The price is still high, but as other restaurants have raised their prices, Kolaila seems like less of a splurge. I'm dying to try more dishes from their menu. Really can't wait. Service was fine, but just that. Go for the food.

Were there for the first time. We ate sweet and sour duck with vegetables and fried rice. The service is excellent, friendly, active and very flexible, the food is delicious, the beer is good. Value for money is absolutely fine. The two of us shared a portion and it was plenty. Toilets were very clean. Terrace 2 tables. We'll be back.

ziemlich unhoflicher Mitarbeiter. Heute waren wir gegen 15Uhr die Restaurant gekommmen. !! This restaurant is famous among Bonn's Chinese community for its poor service attitude. It was an experience to go to eat today. When we walked in, a big brother threw the menu to us and then ignored us while playing with his mobile phone. Fifteen minutes later, I had no choice but to walk over to the elder brother to place my order. I felt like he was the customer and I was the waiter. I asked the eldest brother some questions, and the eldest brother gave strange answers, with a hint of Gao Hua's superiority in his words. My wife was too hungry and I didn’t want to cause any trouble and I endured the ordering. After a while, a German came and the eldest brother immediately changed his face and looked kind and friendly, like a loyal friend of mankind. The taste of the dishes is average and the level of prepared dishes. The price is a bit expensive, so I probably don’t intend to do repeat business from Chinese individual customers. The good reviews are probably all fake, so please don’t step on them.

Most expensive Chinese restaurant with a limited offering that looks passé. Staff only busy for Chinese fellow human beings, rest seems to be an afterthought

Staff friendly, food tastes good. What we find to be rude, however, are the prices. Should you pay extra for side dishes like rice/noodles? In most restaurants this is part of the dish! Also disgusting dishes like blood soup and frog legs, who as a European eats that... For us the assumption is about arrogance, this can really scare away guests.

After an extensive shopping tour through Bonn, we wanted to end the day with a Chinese meal... so off to Koraila, which is conveniently on the way to the train. The reception was friendly and you had free choice of seats. The food. We each treated ourselves to an appetizer. Once the spring rolls and once the special hot and sour soup. Both were good and had unusual flavors that you weren't prepared for. For the main course. We each ordered Gong Bao (chicken and shrimp). When asked about the side dish, we chose fried noodles and fried rice. The food was very fatty and didn't really have many vegetables. The portions were rather small for the price. Now to the biggest point of criticism Every side dish... whether rice... fried rice or noodles has to be paid extra. Prices range from €1.50 for a small portion of fragrant rice to €6.50 for fried noodles or rice. This was not told to the guest beforehand. That's not possible... with such high prices, you also have to pay dearly for the supplement. There is a deduction for this... So we paid €86 for the food and 3 drinks... Sorry... but I'll get much better food elsewhere. Ambience service and cleanliness Ambience rather cool... Service was friendly and attentive. Toilet was very clean and smelled pleasant. Unfortunately, this only gives Koaila a well-intentioned 3 stars. Please tell customers that the side dishes cost extra.

Spacious Chinese restaurant without a buffet, which is a positive thing these days since you're looking in vain for the usual run-of-the-mill mass-produced items. There is a menu of authentic Chinese dishes and a selection of European-inspired dishes. As always, be careful with spicy dishes from the authentic menu. Everything tasted right. The food was hot rather than lukewarm. All in all it was an interesting evening and we were able to try dishes that we didn't know. We had various starters (offal, cold beef, wonton soup, etc.) for the main courses we chose various chili habernero and pepperoni dishes as well as braised pork belly, sour hot soup, a hot pan and fried rice. You'll definitely be full. The beef offal is highly recommended. If you don't want an all-inclusive buffet and are looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, Koraila is your address.

Very tasty and not that expensive.

We visited Koaila in Bonn because we were curious about authentic Chinese cuisine. Despite its size, the restaurant feels quite cozy thanks to the warm lighting and mahogany-colored furniture, and the brocade-covered upholstered chairs are very comfortable to sit on. The menu features dishes such as “duck tongue”, “pork intestine” and “chicken feet”, which suggests that Kolaila is indeed serving authentic Chinese food. But don't panic: there are also numerous well-known dishes such as “sweet and sour chicken”, “fried noodles with beef” or “Peking duck” on offer. But be careful of dishes marked with three pepperoni! The “beef fillet with habanero and pepperoni” simply tastes extremely hot. If you want vegetables or rice with it, you have to order and pay for it separately. All in all we liked it at Koalaila. We ate deliciously and were served quickly and friendly. In any case, it was exciting to eat something that wasn't offered in the Chinese restaurants we were familiar with.

Food is strong! But it's also too big an offer for newcomers. The service staff should wear uniform clothing if you are going for premium cuisine. And only clear something from the table when there is no one left at the table.

The ambience was very nice, the service was okay but not particularly good. The waiter didn't clear the table for ages and barely spoke. The portions are large but unjustifiably expensive. Also vegetarian dishes that only consist of one type of vegetable, for example. Fried eggplant costs €20 and rice has to be purchased additionally! I've wanted to go here for a long time because I know real Asian cuisine from trips to Beijing, Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The menu looks authentic, at least at first glance - dishes like squirrel fish, duck tongues and Peking duck are something special here. However, the preparation of the food we ordered was far from authentic taste and style. Chicken Kung Pao was not recognizable as the dish because the sauce, chilies and peppers tasted very bland and boring; the Peking duck had barely crispy skin and was a standard frozen duck breast. The dumplings were also simple frozen goods...but the prices were quite high and the portions were small. The service was also not convincing. The Asian waiter couldn't speak any German or English and didn't know the food at all - the other waiter who was brought in wasn't Chinese at all in private baggy clothes, who spoke German very poorly and simply handed the food, which was served with a long delay, into your hand and we had to see where to put them on the full table. To be honest, that left a bad impression... One plate was even too much for us and was simply served to the new guest at the next table, even though we had already touched it... All in all, rather disappointing. I will give the restaurant a second chance and try a few special dishes. Let's see how it is. Currently I can only recommend the restaurant to a limited extent. Really delicious, authentic Chinese dishes, such as homemade dumplings and Peking Duck, are available in a small restaurant in the HBF on the food mile ;) ... for half the price...

Wir waren eine größere Gruppe zum Abendessen. Insgesamt hat es uns sehr gut gefallen. Nicht alle Gerichte trafen unseren Geschmack, aber bei der großen Auswahl kann man es auch nicht erwarten.

January 31st, 2024 we were looking forward to a nice evening with Japanese drums and beforehand an authentic meal at Koraila. It started with the fact that we couldn't get a parking space close to the restaurant and parked a few blocks away for €2 for 30 minutes because the restaurant doesn't offer its own parking spaces. The memory card is very extensive and, with the illustrations, promises a truly culinary journey through Asia. However, the hefty and unusually high prices for this trip make it clear that it will be a little more expensive. Well, if they keep what they promise then so be it. The reception was neither warm nor cold, something in between and the ambience faded a bit after we entered the store. We looked for a comfortable, quiet table out of sight and were promptly forgotten. After being asked to serve us, we heard that someone was coming soon and after 10 minutes he was there...the authentic Indian in a Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, rice is not included in the meal and you have to order it with an additional charge of €2. The food is nicely prepared but the portion doesn't do justice to the price. I'm Asian and know the dish... But that was far from what I remembered. My wife's vegetarian dish also had little taste and was a disappointment. Nevertheless, my wife and I had a wonderful evening because where we are the sun is shining 🌞

Waiters in private clothes (not Chinese) are questionable because of the authenticity since they advertise it in the entrance. Prices very high for small portions. We were served very late and after requesting to order the food we had to wait again. Food is served and rice arrives 5 minutes later. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the visit.

Das Kolaila ist das mit grossem Abstand beste chinesische Restaurant in Bonn und auch der weiteren Umgebung. Das Essen ist absolut authentisch und ist qualitativ super! Der Service ist super, Begrüssung mit Namen, man erinnert sich an unsere „üblichen“ Getränke, zu viel bestelltes kann man mitnehmen, da hat man dann auch am nächsten Tag noch was leckeres zum Essen zu Hause. Sehr positiv ist, das es kein Buffet gibt, so weiss man wenigstens immer, das alles ganz frisch ist. Diese chinesischen Buffetrestaurants sind immer eine Zumutung mit eingedeutschtem chinesischem Essen. Weiter so Kolaila, wir freuen uns schon aufs nächste mal!

Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmt für mich aber nicht. Auch wenn die Küche von unseren chinaerfahrenen Gästen als authentisch gelobt wurde. Vegetarische Gerichte haben nur eine GemüseHauptzutat und sind wirklich überteuert, zumal man von einer Portion nicht satt wird und das beim Preis von ca. 15€! Als es noch Buffet gab, waren wir gerne dort.

Eines der wenigen Restaurants in der Region wo man echte chinesische Küche genießen kann. Immer sehr sehr lecker und nicht die sonst in Deutschland verbreitete Glutamatküche.

Das Kolaila bietet eine große Auswahl an authentischen Speisen. Schnell und sehr lecker zubereitet kann man sie hier in ruhiger Atmosphäre genießen. Zentral gelegen in Bonn ideal für einen Besuch zu zweit oder in großer Runde. Ein Hinweis: scharf ist hier wirklich scharf! Also einen Besuch ist das Kolaila wert 😊

SOOO gut! Von Vorspeise, Hauptgericht bis Nachtisch gab es absolut nichts auszusetzen. Neben der Peking ente hat mir ins besondere der "dicke Fisch" mit Bohnenpaste einfach super gefallen.

Das Restaurant wirbt speziell mit den königlichen Enten. Haben eine solche für 80 Euro vorbestellt. Es war enttäuschend. Die Ente war klein und nicht besonders angerichtet. Wir waren 5 Personen und wurden davon natürlich nicht statt. Haben insgesamt 293 Euro bezahlt. Lieber zum Chinesen in Endenich!

Eten was erg pittig. Gelukkig de eend niet, maar die was weer wat droog.

Wer einmal auch authentische chinesische Gerichte probieren möchte ist hier genau richtig. Es gibt hier nicht nur die Gerichte, die man von den üblichen chinesischen Restaurants kennt, sondern auch welche die man dort sonst nicht so findet, da sie nicht so hundertprozentig auf den europäischen Geschmack passen. Darunter sind aber auch viele sehr gute Gerichte. So kann man hier die Original-Peking Ente probieren, so wie sie auch in Peking serviert wird. Oder aber auch außergewöhnliches wie das Tausendjährige Ei. Alles in allem eine Empfehlung in Bonn. Kurz noch: Der Service war stets freundlich und aufmerksam. Wie hatten hier zu keiner Zeit etwas zu beanstanden.

Ich war jetzt zweimal abends unter der Woche da und war beide Male vom Essen begeistert. An die exotischeren oder scharfen Gerichte habe ich mich noch nicht herangetraut; ich hatte einmal Pekingente und einmal Schweinerippchen, dazu ein Auberginengericht und Reis. Beide Male blieb trotz aller Anstrengungen tragischerweise etwas übrig, weil die Portionen so groß sind. Die Gemüsegerichte sind definitiv nicht als Beilagen portioniert; es empfiehlt sich, wenn man zu zweit unterwegs ist, zwei Gerichte und eine Schüssel Reis zu teilen. Der Service war angemessen; es war nicht sehr voll und Essen und Getränke kamen schnell.

sindnach langer Zeit mal wieder dort gewesen und waren sehr entäuscht, die Bedienung (junger Mann) war unmöglich, absolut unaufmerksam und unfreundlich. Die Dame die anwesend war, ist immer noch genauso überforderd wie vor Jahren. Das Essen ist für den Preis schlecht und das nichts damit zutun das wir keine autentische Küche mögen. Die Fürhlingsrollen war sehr gut, aber winzig und damit überteuert. Unsere Bekannten haben beide Ihr Essen nicht aufgegessen, weil Sie Zeifel an der Frische der Zutaten hatten. ir werden das Lokal sicher nicht mehr besuchen

Top Location! Authentische Küche

Essen (ala carte) war mega lecker. Sehr große Auswahl. Und die Leute vom Restaurant waren auch mega nett.

Authentisches, leckeres und unangepasstes chinesisches Essen, genau wie man es auch in verschiedenen Provinzen vor Ort serviert bekommen würde. Da die Gerichte nicht für den Europäischen Gaumen verändert wurden, ist dies ein kleiner Edelstein der chinesischen Küche. Ich empfehle MaPo Tofu und die Yuxiang Aubergine zum Herantasten. Dr. Shen ist ein phantastischer Gastgeber.

Enttäuschend! Wir haben das Buffet genommen. Das war Standard - 0815. Nichts Außergewöhnliches. Lauwarm, vertrocknet und alles hat so geschmeckt, als sei es in ein und derselben Fritteuse zubereitet worden. Das einzige Highlight war, dass ein Koch für die Buffetgäste regelmäßig frische "Köstlichkeiten" aus der Küche zum Tisch brachte. Dieses und die Tatsache, dass die Bedienung wirklich sehr freundlich war, rechtfertigen die zwei Sterne. Mehr leider nicht.

Unerwartet für die Location und bei dem zwar sehr gepflegten aber dennoch Default-China-Ambiente war das Essen extrem lecker. Mag auch daran gelegen haben, dass eine gebürtig chinesische Freundin das Essen vorbestellt hatte.

Hervorragende Qualität. Unter anderem das Hühnchen Kung-Bao habe ich noch nirgendwo besser gegessen. Ganz sicher was anderes als das Durchschnitts-Chinarestaurant. Immer wieder sehr gut!

Essen ist solide (aber auch nicht das beste), aber seit wann muss man für einen kleinen Schüssel Reis noch extra zahlen, wenn man fast 30 Euro teures Essen bestellt? Das war früher nicht so. Finde ich nicht gut.

Wollte vor paar Wochen Buffet essen gehen. Kein Buffet mehr, schade. Als wir am Tisch saßen, haben wir die Karte studiert. Prinzipiell alle oder viele Gerichte, die als Buffet frühe waren, sind die jetzt auf die Karte drauf. Preislich aber oha, z.b 6 Garnelen Großen auf der Teller ich glaube von grill 32 €. Erst dachte ok, sollte dann aber zumindest keine gefrorenen Sachen sein. Nach kurze Rückfrage, ob alles frisch ist, man erwartet dann schon bei solchen Preisen, das es kein tiefgefrorenen Produkten angeboten werden. Leider, alles kommt aus Gefrierfach. Es gibt genug Restorant wo man vielleicht etwas mehr bezahlt, aber bekommt kein TK auf der Teller. Wir sind letztendlich dann weggegangen. 2 Stern für TK und Ihren Preisen.

Gut besuchtes Restaurant wirbt mit Authentischer chinesischer Küche. Wie fast überall jedoch zu wenig Personal, daher viel Warten angesagt. Das Essen war für unseren Geschmack stark überwürzt. Hatten einen Mix aus Veganem und Nudeln mit Rindfleisch und alkoholfreie Getränke..... dafür knapp 60€..... Die Kellnerin war freundlich. Buffet wird nicht mehr angeboten. Dies hatte uns immer wieder animiert dort essen zu gehen..... nun nicht mehr

Das Essen war sehr lecker, aber auch sehr teuer dafür, dass wir beide nach Suppe und Hauptgericht noch nicht satt waren. Außerdem hätten wir uns mehr Auswahl mit ente gewünscht.

Super bistro alles top! Zum Gipfel der Sauberkeit kaum zu überbieten. Ein Genuss pur! Danke und auf Wiedersehen lieber Herr Kolaila!

Endlich mal richtig chinesisches Essen in interessanten Varianten. Sehr lecker. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Das Ambiente entspricht einem chinesischen Restaurant 😁. Sehr netter Inhaber!!!
