Buffet with limited selection, no vegetables, food barely seasoned, everything tasted bland. Dessert: Very limited selection. In the pictures, it looks lavish due to the reflection, but it's not. We visited this restaurant for the first time today. And my 💘 dear Mocki also had her birthday 🎂 What a surprise, I'm so sorry for her. Once at China City Restaurant, and never again, disappointment. Large selection, good taste. However, the price is a bit high compared to other Chinese buffets in MG; there are tastier options for less.

The China City Restaurant in M'Gladbach is a typical Chinese restaurant with a large interior and plenty of tables. We chose the buffet for dinner. The food was delicious and the selection was good. However, if you're looking for a change from Chinese buffets, you won't find it here. They offer the usual fare. They also offer ready-made meals, as well as a counter with unprocessed foods that you can have freshly prepared. The value for money is reasonable, as you can eat as much as you like. 😄 The service is good. Parking is difficult, as the parking spaces in front of the restaurant aren't suitable for long cars.

We ordered food through Lieferando and requested cutlery be included, as we were in an office where cutlery was not available. After the food arrived and we realized that no cutlery had been delivered, I called and asked for it to be delivered. The lady on the phone replied, "The driver is off duty, there's nothing we can do! If you want cutlery, pick it up yourself!" I said I wanted a solution. She didn't care! She kept saying, "There's nothing we can do! There's nothing we can do!" In the end, I hung up. I have to say, this was the worst Asian food I've ever ordered. The chicken was cold and the rice was dry and stale. I'll never order from there again! Nevertheless, the driver was very nice! Very nice man!

It's almost impossible to imagine a worse experience! We went to the dinner buffet at China City Restaurant, and it was simply a disappointment. Most of the pots were almost empty and weren't refilled within half an hour, which severely limited the selection. The food selection was also very meager overall – there was hardly any variety, and much of it seemed simply dipped in everything and oversalted. The fresh food counter was an absolute joke – the meat, and especially the fish, looked as if it had been sitting there all day. It was simply unappealing, and you really didn't feel like you wanted anything from it. We felt right after the meal, even though we only ate a little. That was the biggest disappointment, especially for the birthday girl, who was really looking forward to a lovely evening. We will definitely not be coming back and cannot recommend this restaurant. Never again!

The buffet was terrible. Our daughter didn't eat anything. She didn't like it at all; she left the food on her plate, and the waiter told us not to order so much next time. When we told him she didn't like it, she only ate some fries, and he told us to go to McDonald's next time. I find that disrespectful, and above all, the food was bad. Our neighbors' table confirmed it. The noodles were disgusting, and the fried rice... I didn't know they were bad cooks. The website says you can get a flat-rate drink for an extra €10, but when we arrived, we were told that the offer wasn't available at lunch.

Unfortunately, I couldn't write a good review. The breakfast roll that included flat-rate drinks wasn't valid for lunch, but the website doesn't state that.

Unfortunately, the food was just below average. The chicken soup and spring rolls were tasteless. The beef (Mongolian style) was fried to death. Dessert: tiramisu and cheesecake were delicious.

Lunch buffet. Not particularly tasty. The spring roll was a greasy piece of dough filled with cabbage. I couldn't find the minced meat. The rest of the food wasn't very hot and wasn't particularly tasty. That's a matter of taste, of course.

You can't go wrong here, especially when it comes to value for money. The quality of the food is outstanding. There was never a single empty seat, and the selection was enormous. One star was deducted for the fact that the staff reached in front of your face to clear empty plates while you were eating. It could be done differently, and one star was deducted for the somewhat dated ambiance. All in all, a great restaurant!

The food is what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet. The selection is good, and the food was constantly replenished. The service was abysmal. After being assigned a table, we waited almost 15 minutes before we could order a drink (mind you, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy). By that point, almost everyone in our group had already gone to the buffet because we were hungry. Because of this experience, we immediately ordered a large drink so we wouldn't be left high and dry. It turned out to be true: we also had to wait forever to pay, and our waitress wasn't exactly friendly either... There are definitely other restaurants with similar menus and much better service!

I have already visited a few Chinese restaurants. But unfortunately the City Restaurant in Mönchengladbach has performed the worst of all so far. I found the food very greasy, monotonous and not special. The food that was prepared was burnt and inedible. Maybe I just had a bad day. I will definitely give the restaurant a second chance.

So we love this restaurant. However, when it's the days with the drinks flat, you can't go there sooooo well. There are two waitresses who will happily make you wait half an hour for your drinks. Otherwise it's a great shop.

We were two people and one of us just ordered simple Weg fried rice and one went for the eve buffet. The food was as usual good. In the evening they also offer grill. Various dishes in buffet and seafood and meet for the grill including kangaroo 🦘. For the dessert they had Tiramisu, cheesecake, fruit tiramisu, ice cream, fruits, chocolate etc. At the end we ordered Jasmin tea 🫖 so it was a perfect evening with a very good friend and food :-). If you are in Mönchengladbach and want to try various Chinese dishes, this is the place to go :-) …. and they have their own parking lot:-)👍

Were there for the first time but didn't come back again. Waitress was very unfriendly. We had drinks. We had to wait a long time for drinks. Waitress gives cute answers when you ask about something. Food could be more choice but the chopped spring roll was a joke. There was no chopped stuff in it so there are clearly better resturants

It's OK. Chinese restaurant. Dishes are pretty similar in taste to most others.

It can get very crowded, which is a good sign. The noise level then increases. But the food is really tasty, I especially like the sushi. Buffet price is perfectly fine. Can recommend it.

I came here during happy hour , the price was very sensible,fast , friendly service, beautiful restaurant.,many free parking spaces, and lots of fresh food and fruits, ice cream and dessert have a lot of choices.. The most important and noteworthy thing is : the fried foods are still very crispy and hot. I am very stunning that the fried food is still crispy. Normally, it is not easy to keep fried food crispy whole day in Buffet restaurant I strongly recommend this Buffet Chinese restaurant in Mönchengladbach. 👍💯

I was impressed by the China City Restaurant Mönchengladbach! A wide selection of fresh and delicious food - from Chinese classics to sushi and Mongolian grill. Everything was well seasoned and perfectly prepared. The restaurant is very good overall, but a little renovation would be good. But still the atmosphere is pleasant, the staff friendly and attentive. The prices are fair for the quality. I would love to come back and can only recommend it!

Nowadays there is mass processing with standard meals and lots of fried foods. Vegetarian is difficult and then there are the greedy guests who stuff their plates at the buffet. It's a shame, things were significantly different 5 years ago.

Had dinner there today. The first thing I noticed were these strange aquariums. Half full and totally loud, absolutely out of place. Then the lackluster operation, constantly on the smartphone. Food from the buffet was dry and fatty meat. The wasabi cream is not deep and watery. OK, the expectations weren't really high but it was really bad. Once and never again.

An excellent Chinese restaurant with plenty of parking spaces around the house, including disabled parking. The lavish buffet offers a lot of variety and impresses with fresh, high-quality dishes. The counters are clean and there is a wide selection of different dishes that are regularly replenished. A special highlight is the chocolate fountain Dessert offer rounds off. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes the stay even more pleasant. Overall, a top restaurant with a great ambience – for me the best Chinese restaurant in MG-Nord!

It all tastes like a great kitchen and less like a good chef, but that doesn't mean that the food is fundamentally bad, that's not the case. There are some things that you can eat well there and there is something for everyone, whether vegetarian, vegan or for normal eaters

I was at this restaurant recently and I have to say I was quite disappointed because it is actually busy. First of all, there aren't many parking spaces. Then the waitress was very unfriendly and told us to get food when she saw us still sitting. The selection at the buffet was also rather limited, which shouldn't be the case with a buffet. The taste of most things was good, but unfortunately many of the buffet items were often empty and it took a long time for them to be refilled. The dishes that we sent to the kitchen to fry also took a long time to arrive. Overall the experience was rather disappointing.

The food was very tasty and there was enough choice to fill you up. Service wasn't good. Despite the stress, you should be friendly and ask at the end if everything was okay. If you want a small Coke you don't want a big one. Overall quite ok.

The concept has changed somewhat and some menus that were previously there are missing.

The gentleman at the counter can speak German, but he's an absolute disaster when it comes to politeness. After having to wait 20 minutes for a drink and then going to the waiter and politely pointing out that he was being yelled at - that doesn't correspond to any restaurant - let alone any Service culture. Justifying this with your own stress doesn't make things any better. Disgraceful and intolerable behavior for a restaurant.

The food was ok, but I've eaten much better for a comparable price. The freshly prepared food and the accompanying sauces didn't convince me very much.

We were in this restaurant for the first time today and certainly not the last time. The reservation went online without any problems, the welcome was extremely friendly, as were all the staff very attentive and friendly. The food (buffet) was great, fresh and tasty, the restaurant was clean and attractively designed. The restaurant is not as big as the giant restaurants that are now spreading, but it is much more comfortable. Not the canteen atmosphere that you always find in the big dining temples. Recommended! Will definitely be considered more often from now on.

We were there this afternoon. As soon as we entered the restaurant we would have liked to leave because of the smell of old grease, but we took a seat at a table because we had promised an older lady (who often had lunch here with her late husband a few years ago) with her to visit this location again as a reminder. The waiter threw the cutlery on the table and was extremely rude. The buffet's offerings had shrunk significantly compared to before. The food was horrible...tasted bland (to put it mildly). In the fried offerings (fried banana, croquettes) there was hardly any content underneath the greasy fried coating. Tiramisu tasted nothing. The tables were bare, not even a small paper tablecloth. Our clothes smelled disgustingly of grease in the car. Never again.

The waiter throws the beer mats on the table and down. Very poor and very slow service for the drinks flat rate, which is valid for 2 hours. Meals only upon payment in advance. The food, well, a matter of taste. But not really warm! Thank you, never again.

I was there again recently with my family and there is no comparison to the time before Corona. The buffet has declined massively, the selection is limited, the quality is rather poor, the service is lackluster, you often wait a long time to be able to pay and to be honest, there are now much better alternatives in the surrounding area.

Pure catastrophe Children are not welcome I was there today with my 2 small children and I sat down in the back in the corner so as not to disturb or bother anyone. Then they said we couldn't give the whole place to them even though I had placed my 2 strollers in the corner. The woman then said they could go home if they wanted. The selection of the buffet is very, very meager and disgusting, the buffet is filled with mirrors so that it looks more, not recommended, it's best to give it a very, very wide berth

The entrance is also suitable for wheelchair users, but unfortunately the sanitary facility is in the basement. No problem with dogs either, we reserved in advance, we had a table in the back of the restaurant and everything was great.

As a family with a small child, we went to China City Essen for the first time on the holiday of November 1st. We were thrilled by the variety of food and the quality. The buffet was constantly being replenished and the food on the plate was still hot. My son's highlight was of course the chocolate fountain. Clear recommendation, we'll be back soon!

Very tasty food, we were there for my granddaughter's schooling. It was always refilled without having to ask. The staff was nice and accommodating, there was even a small present for the school child ❤️

Hunger, little time and the parking space in front of the door were the reasons for me to visit this restaurant today. But even among all the bad Chinese buffets today, this was an absolute disaster. All (!!!) of the dishes I tried either tasted like nothing or were just plain disgusting. Even the fried rice was off and the sushi buffet brought back memories of days gone by. I've been there several times over the years. Never really good, but today was the last time there for me.

We ate here with a total of 7 people. The table reservation could be made online without any problems. At the friendly reception we were assigned the reserved table. The service was always very friendly and you can view the selection of drinks online and order directly. The all you can eat buffet was very plentiful and tasty. The dessert with a chocolate fountain was also very tasty. The cleanliness in the restaurant and the toilets was impeccable. All in all, we were very satisfied with the restaurant - we will definitely come back.

Food was very good. The waitress didn't want to. At 10:30 we were told it would close at 10, but as I see now it was actually at 11:30. The waitress could barely open her mouth and was hard to understand because she was so quiet. We were the last ones and I can understand that you want to call it a day, but that could have been said to us at the entrance at a quarter to 9. We would have liked to stay longer because our 2 hours weren't actually up yet. We don't currently know whether we'll come back again.
