Chén Chè in Berlin

Super cosy a constant smell of some high quality tea, the food is too notch and arrived very fast, there was very friendly personal.

I reserved a table for 3 at 6pm and arrived at 5:35pm. The staff told us we could only stay until 7pm but I asked if we could finish our meal by 7pm as one person was coming at 6pm. The owner came and rudely stressed only 90 minutes without any flexibility. We ordered bunbonambo and tea, the meal cost 15.50 euros and the tea cost 6.5 euros each. Unfortunately the food wasn't warm and the tea came in a large bowl and quickly got cold. The staff quickly cleared our food bowls and brought us a list of tea menus as we drank tea. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice, but we were initially dissatisfied with the poor service and didn't enjoy it. It cost 65 euros and I didn't tip. This restaurant clearly has poor customer service and was very unprofessional service.

Fancy interior design, but very unprofessional and rude service. The food does not taste good, it was not even warm.

Disappointing. The last sip has been drunk and the bill promptly appears on the table without being asked. Not a nice word. And that's just a description of the strange experiences tonight. The food is okay, but not worth the price.

Very cozy. Great courtyard. The food was super tasty. Unfortunately you have to pay with cash. Sorry, but we live in 2024 and not 1950. That's antiquated. I had to scrape together my emergency money and almost had to go to the ATM.

the tea was amazing and the food was decent, but the staff felt a bit ‘pushy’😅 It seemed like they wanted us to leave, which would have been understandable if they had communicated it better. Instead they interrupted while I was still chatting with a friend and suddenly asked if we wanted to pay, even though I hadn’t even finished my tea.. the place is very beautiful but i wasnt really satisfied with the staff, so i wouldnt come again..

The staff is very rude and weird. I arrived on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 7:20 p.m., the restaurant still had many empty tables and there were also many seats outdoors. Welcoming our group was an older man who told me frankly that the restaurant had no more seats (even though the restaurant had many empty tables, and the entire outside area had no one sitting) and that he didn't want to welcome us (no). I don't understand the reason, maybe because I don't like Vietnamese guests). What's worse is that he later told me I should go to the Vietnamese restaurant across the street to eat because that restaurant was better than the one he worked at. 🤣🤣 (I don't understand why they push customers to the competitor's restaurant) 😂😂 If you are the owner, I don't understand what the business motto is. If you are an employee, the owner should consider whether to continue hiring people like that (receiving salary but pushing customers to work, lowering the shop's umsatz) 😂😂😂

Beautifully located and with a great ambience. However, the reception apparently couldn't do anything with my online reservation via the restaurant's website. That's why (or in general, it wasn't entirely clear) we only had 90 minutes, we were told. So starters and desserts were out of the question. The main street was tasty and definitely recommended, but you can also get the same quality from many other Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin, as the standard there is generally high. When it comes to drinks, I have to advise against the teas, which are completely overpriced and taste like almost nothing. The employees were generally not very friendly and wanted to leave after just 70 minutes. That's stressful and really not a good idea in a restaurant - even the most beautiful ambience is of no use. Where and how we should pay was initially contradictory. Conclusion: There could easily be one more star here if there was a little more customer orientation.

The ambience and food stand out from the usual restaurants. The teas also taste great. Worth a food trip, prices are totally reasonable and not exorbitant, so take a look and see for yourself.

The guy at the entrance who appoints you to tables is extremely rude, his behavior was unacceptable for welcoming to the restaurant. The food is mediocre, so totally not worth it for the good ambiance.

This place has been around for a long time and used to be a place I loved going to, mainly due to the nice location. However, my last experience was not very nice. We reserved for a bigger group and upon arrival were told that we only can stay 90 min. We would have appreciated knowing that when we reserved, so we could have reconsidered. After that time we were kicked out and could not even eat desert. The quality of the food was not what it used to be.

First of all: Actually 0 stars would be appropriate. Yesterday was definitely my last visit to Chen Che. We have been here several times and have always had lovely evenings with friends. When we arrived yesterday we were... At first we pointed out in a vehemently unsympathetic manner that we (7 people) only had 90 minutes for our entire visit. Unfortunately, not just once but during EVERY single service contact, the watch was thrust under our noses in a moodiness that was unparalleled and made it impossible to feel comfortable and have a relaxed stay. It's fair enough that the restaurant is well attended, but we would have liked to have known when we made the reservation that we would just be funneled through, then we would have saved ourselves and the restaurant the visit. The fact is: just being hip and eating okay isn't enough. In my opinion, Chen Che has sealed its decline with such bottomless unfriendliness in the service. And with only cash payments in 2024, you can imagine how the revenue will bypass the tax authorities... Never again.

Very tasty food, friendly and courteous service. The ambience is magical. Beautiful courtyard with access through the restaurant. Simply a short vacation in otherwise busy Berlin. We would love to come back.

Really good food, but unfortunately the service was not good. The 4 week gentlemen who were waiters were difficult to get hold of, which meant a lot of waiting time. They didn't smile at any point. The low point was the payment. Here we could only pay with cash and not credit cards - in 2024 in a big city, that's too old-fashioned. Had to go to the street and find an ATM and the only one nearby had a bad exchange rate and high fees. Overall, a mixed experience at Vhém Ché

The charming interior, decor, high ceilings and imaginative drinks are what makes Chen Che worth going for. We were a little disappointed by the unfriendly and inattentive service.

Quite overpriced, poor service - were thrown out when it was clear we didn't want to order anything more. Pretty bad. The selection on the menu was tiny, but the food itself was okay.

The host refused our request to sit in a more quiet space even though the room was half empty. We then politely tried to explain why (hearing disability) and he showed no empathy, interrupting us and inviting us to leave the restaurant.

The food is ok. However, the prices are overpriced. Only cash payment is possible. The service is intrusive and doesn't give you enough time to make your own selection. The gentleman at the entrance asked several times if you would like to eat something and only then assigned a table. I have never experienced this in any other restaurant! The ambience is appealing. However, we recommend taking a table on the quieter first floor. It may be very loud on the ground floor.

As for the food, it did not disappoint. We tried the chicken, noodles, and a variety of other dishes, all of which were delicious. The flavors were authentic and rich, making each bite enjoyable. The food arrived in a reasonable time, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed meal. However, one downside was the payment method. They only accept cash, which wasn’t clearly communicated. There was no notice on the door, and it was mentioned only in small print on the menu. This was a bit inconvenient, but despite that, I would definitely return for the amazing food. If you plan to visit, just make sure to bring cash. The food is absolutely worth it!

We made a reservation and went to have tea and dessert, the garden and the interior are really nice and different, however after receiving our tea and dessert and finished them the "manager" came and said in a very rude tone we shouldn't come to have tea after 5pm and it's dinner only. He made us feel very uncomfortable with his rude behaviour where we even booked a table and no one advised on this "rule"... paying with cash only was also a big minus point for a fancy place like that The tea was very nice and unusual thou

I can't explain but the meat had a delicious coal-grill vibe, the glass noodle was super tasty and everything is fresh. The watermelon smoothie-like beverage is a great companion! I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did!

Incredibly enjoyable interior design and atmosphere. The food tasted fresh and was packed with amazing flavours, the main course portions did not disappoint, but the amount of prawns used in the dishes did. As always, what made the experience uncomfortable, was the no card payment issue.

We went for tea time and they told us we could only stay for 1 hour when the place was completely empty. Very unfriendly waiters, it seems that you bother them when you order. Not a single smile or help with menu options. They told us that we could only pay in cash after ordering (luckily we had it with us) The é costs €6.5 and is just an individual cup (not even a teapot). Smoothies are a better option since the flavors are original and normal size. The garden is cool and quiet but you could hear shouts from (what I assume) is a school next door. The decoration does not compensate for everything else so I do not recommend it

The restaurant with a nice ambience is located in a quiet courtyard. The employees are on point. The food is quite delicious.

It's lovely there, nice food i like their teas, some of them are really special. Big portions of food which is quite cool also to bring back home when i don't finish. Only thing i dislike is that they say "we don't have tap water" and it is a lie and legally they aren't supposed to refuse to give tap water to people. Super cosy in winter - i still recommend

Chén Chè is an oasis of joy and your chances of being happy are great here. This is a lovely restaurant full of beautiful design. The food is Vietnamese, but most all of the design is Chinese in Nature. As a Photographer and a lover of Asia and asian cultures, I find this place comforting to know it exists in this wonderful city. The design is clearly the strongpoint of this restaurant. If only the food matched the quality of design. Regardless, it is worth a visit and a truly enjoyable place to be in the heart of busy Berlin.

Good choice of tea and decent cuisine but prices too high for the quality and quantity on the plate. The service is deplorable, we have come to this restaurant several times in recent months, never welcomed, not a single smile. What a shame because the establishment is very beautiful, however the lack of respect from the employees takes away all the charm from the experience. I hope to see improvement in the future. Bonus: The dish I was served in was half broken and cracked. We were dismissed in a haughty and condescending tone because it was Saturday and one of the employees refused to serve us drinks. However it is a tea house, the very basis is to serve drinks. I strongly advise against this type of establishment, the other restaurants in the area are much better and the consumption is cheaper there.

When we are in Berlin, a visit to Chen Che is a must. Wonderful food and great atmosphere.

I was in this restaurant and unfortunately my visit was disappointing. The service was unfriendly and not attentive. The map dirty and tattered. The meat was tough and the food overall was nothing special, but expensive. What was particularly annoying was that despite my express request not to use coriander, it was sprinkled over the food. The nice location and the good drinks are positive. Unfortunately, that's not enough to offset the negative aspects. I probably won't come back.

Today we actually wanted to go to a pizzeria but it was closed. Then we went here and were overwhelmed! After we waited a moment, the waitress came and politely asked us what we wanted to eat. Then about 10 minutes passed and our food arrived! It looked so delicious and tasted so delicious too! Besides, I just find it a beautiful restaurant!

A very cozy restaurant with a beautiful garden area, where you sit on long benches at wooden tables. The service was good, we were served quickly. The food was very well prepared and we enjoyed everything. There is a small lunch menu from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The prices for the lunch menu are around 13 euros. Can recommend the restaurant.

Awesome location, hidden little jungle in an in-yard of Mitte. They have a nice selection of Vietnamese drinks, like a Ca Phê, or some mixed juices and homemade lemonades. Expect to pay around 5 to 6€ for a non alcoholic beverage if you just come for a tee or coffee break. They also have food, classic Vietnamese offer.

We discovered this enchanting Vietnamese restaurant by chance. Even the entrance is designed like a garden oasis. Bamboo and a fountain with fish. In the restaurant there are typical lights and simple benches with tables. At the counter there is a great selection of teas in sturdy glass containers. From the restaurant you can access the leafy garden with lanterns, Buddhas and simple seating. It was busy at lunchtime. Our food was very good, fresh ingredients and a feast in terms of taste. Interesting selection of tea specialties. Toilets very clean.

A wonderful place for a little break from the stressful hustle and bustle in Mitte around Rosenthaler Platz. Everything is reminiscent of the old teahouses of Hanoi and you feel like you are on a sudden short vacation in Vietnam. A 100% recommendation is the tea time, with great tea and a nice selection of sweet and spicy little things. Simply great and wonderfully more authentic than the usual, boring and same old Vietnam restaurants in the city

The foods are okay, the service was the worst and for the hygiene ,they didn’t care at all. If they can little bit take care of that, perhaps will be better! So schade ☹️

Food beautifully presented but not at all convincing in terms of taste. The service wasn't really attentive. 2 wines on the menu were no longer available and the one we ordered was not drinkable. It's a shame, because the atmosphere is really nice and cozy!

Definitely disappointing. The decoration is amazing, but that’s actually the only positive thing I would say about this place. Staff were not very friendly, the food I ordered was quite tasteless and served cold… And they don’t accept card payments. Price would be ok if the quality was better. Definitely not worth a visit compared to the many other amazing Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin.

We passed by and decided to stop in, it looked very nice and cozy. We saw a lot of free tables on the patio, but they were all reserved and they offered to share a table with other guests. Although we wanted to eat quickly and that's all. I doubt that tables were actually reserved. the staff is not friendly at all , menu was dirty and only 4 choices of main dishes . So we left without ordering anything.

Food was good. But the ambience and service are just wow. I would definitely go there again just for this beautiful facility. I would simply recommend that you take a look at it. One of the best visual restaurants in Germany.

I put two stars for the decent food. otherwise one star would be enough. we were 12 people and we had to pay for an extra dish that we hadn't ordered otherwise they wouldn't let us leave. a dish arrived with chicken that we had not ordered and we sent it back. at the end of the evening they wanted us to pay for that dish. shameful! and also you can not pay with the card under 50€!!! absolutely not recommended.

The food and the place are fine! The atmosphere is nice. However the service was really disappointing. For a bill close to a hundred euros, the restaurant didn't accept cards. That's common in Berlin, but it wasn't displayed on the door. But most importantly, the waiter didn't even bother giving me my change. He just kept it as a tip and told us goodbye. This behaviour is unacceptable. This kinda ruined the experience, although everything else was rather fine.

Food was very good as always, but now card payments only start at EUR 50.00. Maybe the tax office should come here for a tea time.

I find it strange when you have a tea house concept, so I visit it but am asked to leave after an hour if I don't order food. I have never experienced such unfriendly staff. Even when I ordered snacks and dessert, I was still asked to leave immediately after eating them and was treated poorly throughout my entire stay. I think it's a shame because the teas were incredibly tasty. I will no longer enter the teahouse.
