Champa in Metzingen

We ate at Champa for the first time and it was absolutely delicious! The appetizer and ramen were a real treat 🤤 You can taste and tell that everything is homemade and freshly prepared. The ambiance is also very modern and appealing, as is the cleanliness. The service is incredibly friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back and try everything on the menu!

Ochaya is our new favorite café in Metzingen! The matcha is simply delicious – I always get the one with raspberry white chocolate, highly recommended! 💚 The team is super friendly and accommodating, you immediately feel welcome. The cookies are also really delicious! Since we live nearby, we now stop by regularly for a little matcha break.

I clearly ordered a matcha drink with oat milk. I paid, left, and when I took the first sip it tasted strongly of cow’s milk and had barely any matcha flavor at all. I had to go back and ask what milk was used, and they admitted it was regular milk. When I asked for the drink to be remade with oat milk (which I had originally requested), I was told I had to pay extra—even though it wasn’t my mistake. The staff (three people at the counter) just stood there, seeming completely unbothered and inattentive. I reluctantly paid again, but the new drink was even worse: almost no matcha, completely bland. If you value your money, your time, or your taste buds, avoid this spot at all costs.

CHAMPA in Metzingen is a real highlight for lovers of Asian cuisine! The bowls are especially recommended, from sushi bowls to curry bowls to variations with chicken or tofu. My curry bowl with chicken was excellent: it was fresh, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. The soy sauce was an absolute highlight for me – I've rarely tasted such good! The edamame were also a dream: they were fresh, crunchy, and delicious – I haven't had them that good in a long time. The fried sushi was also impressive: crispy on the outside and deliciously filled on the inside. It came with a homemade lemonade, which was very refreshing and perfectly rounded off the meal. The ambiance is also a plus: an Asian flair with thoughtful details like trees inside. There's also an inviting outdoor terrace, which is sure to be even more inviting in nice weather. Overall, it was a thoroughly successful visit. If you're in Metzingen and fancy fresh, authentic bowls and sushi, you should definitely stop by here!

The picture looks good right? But the taste, is 2 out of 10. This is not Asian food, just because it’s curry and rice. Basil leaves shouldn’t even be there for this meal. This is a meal prep dish when you’re too lazy to cook or don’t know how to cook. The sushi was not fresh. The service was so slow, it took them 10 mins to give the menu and the restaurant was not even busy. I hate leaving bad reviews but it’s just so bad that I had to.

The ambiance was great, the service was okay. The food was unfortunately very bland and resembled sushi from a supermarket counter. Unfortunately, our platters weren't lovingly presented either. We paid over €50 for two drinks, a sushi meal, and a tempura roll, and it definitely wasn't worth it. It's a real shame, as the restaurant was really attractively decorated.

RISK OF INJURY! We're totally disappointed... We got a semi-tasty matcha at Ochaya. We weren't able to sit down until my friend hurt herself on the beach chairs. When I mentioned it to the team to protect other guests (some had already hurt themselves and kissed the floor), the chairs suddenly didn't belong to them anymore, and no one was responsible. Then someone came to inspect the whole thing, and the excuse was my highlight: Someone pulled out the bars, but we didn't know which chair it was. Ahaaaa? So you know someone is tampering with the chairs, and you leave them standing and don't feel the need to check them?! When asked, my friend confirmed that she was in pain from the fall... but there was no apology or other reaction to her answer! I'm shocked... what if older people or pregnant women like me sat down? Huh? And at Champa, I gave up after getting diarrhea for the second time on my second visit. I'm really not sensitive; I've eaten everywhere on earth, from Thailand to Mexico to Japan, etc., and nothing ever happened 🤣 Physical integrity is really a low priority here.

Opening hours vary depending on the current mood – it's definitely not open until 9 a.m. On the first evening, we were told the kitchen was only open until 8:30 p.m. The next evening, we rushed and asked at 8:10 p.m. – they were already closing time, and there was nothing left. It's actually not a problem – 100 meters further toward the city center, you can get some really good Asian food, and even a bit cheaper. You don't have to go there; they close early because of the wealth.

The food itself was quite tasty, although my chicken was too dry. The sauce saved it, though. The vegetables were really tasty. The homemade lemonade was nice. It's definitely worth recommending.

My bestie and I ordered drinks first – a Sprite with ice and a latte macchiato. Then we ordered Ebi Tempura as an appetizer, and I chose a kind of Vietnamese soup. I forgot the exact name – maybe it was Bún Bò? I’m not sure, but I really loved it! It had beef as a garnish, with noodles, vegetables, a hint of lemongrass, and a spicy broth. It was summer, and the weather outside was perfect – not too hot, but still a little chill in the air. A perfect moment. I really, really loved my soup – haha, sorry I can’t share a photo of it! 😄 The service was great. You can speak English or German, and they accept card payments. The staff were friendly, and the restroom is downstairs – neat and clean. I totally recommend checking out this restaurant. They have a big menu with drinks (with or without alcohol) and a wide variety of dishes.

We planned lunch as a break from our shopping trip. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. 😞 The ambiance outside, right by the watercourse - in the shade - was great. The service staff were unfortunately extremely inattentive (on several occasions). The food itself, although of high quality, was unfortunately very lacking in flavor. The sushi rice was unseasoned, and the wasabi was initially too bland and not enough. We had to reorder twice (difficult when you can't find the waiter). The third portion was suddenly significantly larger and also significantly spicier. The price was overpriced for the quality and service provided. And the justification "...it's located in the center of the outlet city..." shouldn't be used here. Conclusion: A real shame, disappointing, and not worth a second visit.

We were simply forgotten, which can happen sometimes! The waitress was nice and friendly and apologized to us! When our tofu bowl arrived, there was more noodles in it than anything else and little to minimal sauce, which made the dish very dry and pathy, 5 pieces of tofu, a bit of carrot, lemongrass and a few herbs and sprouts! For €16 per bowl, this is completely exaggerated and incomprehensible! Unfortunately, they didn't check once whether we wanted something to drink, even though there wasn't much going on! We expected and wanted much more from the restaurant's attractive design alone! Very, very unfortunate! All in all only 2 stars!

Great gyoza and lovely restaurant

Tonight my boyfriend and I decided to try this very clean and welcoming place. We ordered a "Mixed Menü", a menu with three different types of sushi and I can only recommend it, fresh fish and after eating I didn't feel bloated as often happens in other places. Thank the service very much, the girl was very sweet and kind. I will definitely be back soon!

We wish we had read reviews beforehand! The ambience is beautiful, bright, spacious, modern. Unfortunately, that's where the positive ends again. The edamame were obviously old (several beans brown and mushy, the shell was very tight and inelastic, it was difficult to get the beans out), the sprouts and carrot strips of the other starter (fried chicken karaage - very fatty chicken in a mushy breading) were edible, the rest...um...no For the main course we had a peanut bowl with chicken (same tragedy with the chicken as with the starter) and a curry bowl with salmon. The cooked salmon was completely "natural", i.e. untouched by any spices (I've never had to ask for salt in an Asian restaurant to get at least a little seasoning), and the curry sauce was so hot that you couldn't detect any taste in your mouth anyway . Not that it's misunderstood: I like it spicy, but if everything else in terms of spice is killed off, then it doesn't make sense. The side dishes were soggy and the rice was also very tasteless and bland. The service was friendly and took its time. The two of us paid €60 for this lunch, which we would have preferred to invest in clothes. Conclusion: We won't eat here again.

Incredibly slow service, we were asked twice within 30 minutes by the same waiter if we would like to order even though we had already ordered :)) and when the order came after an eternity, a portion and a drink were missing. So if you have time to wait, you are welcome to spend your time there

If you want to treat yourself to a good Poh or Crunchyroll, Champa is the right place for you! The food was very tasty and the cocktails were very drinkable! perfect ambience after the day of shopping. The Willdberry Lillet was praised to high heaven by my partner. We'll be back!

Why don't I start off with the positive side? The interior and decorations were fabulous and very aesthetic, as one might call it these days. The decor just tickled my brain the right way. The sushi rolls are large and pretty good. They're about as big as the circle you make when you try to do the 'OK' sign. The location is good, and so was the capacity. Service is friendly. I did enjoy it in general, but there were a few things that didn't impress me. First of all, I did indeed say the sushi roles were good. But they weren't AMAZING ifyk what I mean. I've definitely had better sushi in Karlsruhe. Maybe they're so big because they're packed with a lot of rice? oh well. Second of all, the Vietnamese food they have on the menu isn't that authentic, coming from someone who is from there, lol. I think a good pho should have herbs for freshness. The bowl did not have any of that green stuff (Mungbeans sprouts were included, but they don't really do much for the dish). My friend, who also consumes a lot of vietnamese food, said the meat (bo) was off. Third of all, I had the mango sticky rice, and I'm sorry, but that was NOT it. I had high expectations. Thought I'd be getting some sticky rice with some cut-up mango and some coconut drizzled over it. I received a mango sticky rice coconut SOUP. They legit brought out a bowl of coconut soup (very hot, too). I thought they got my order wrong or sum, but when I dug around the liquid, some sticky rice emerged. It wasn't sticky rice anymore after sitting in the hot coconut soup. Very liquidy too, I thought it was supposed to be a bit thicker, yk cuz you simmer it down n stuff. Oh well, I wouldn't know, but I wasn't impressed. Now to the prices.. I guess for whitewashed asian food it was.. normal? Sorry, I'm not sorry, the price was not worth the food. I guess you could go try it once in your life, but I won't be coming back for seconds.

The restaurant aesthetic is very catchy and beautiful, that's what made me enter the restaurant in the first place. The duck curry bowl was mentioned as spicy but it was far from spicy and a bit bland but tasty nevertheless. The lemonade was, unfortunately, carbonated. Service was good.

The food tastes very good and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Personally, I can highly recommend the Curry Bowl Chicken and Pho Bo. Will definitely come back. There has recently been a new menu with other highly recommended dishes, such as red curry. Goi Cuon (summer rolls) are finally available again. Still a clear recommendation!
