The Carlos Restaurant captivates me with its unique pirate-themed ambiance and lovingly designed atmosphere. The food is creative, freshly prepared, and delicious, especially the tapas and meat skewers. The staff is friendly, attentive, and creates a good atmosphere – the service is warm and courteous.

Ten of us were there, and the atmosphere was great with different areas like a bar, lounge, restaurant, and beer garden. Super friendly staff across the board. We'd be happy to go again.

I'll start with the most important thing: The staff. Super caring and understanding, everyone was incredibly kind, considerate, accommodating, and incredibly personable. And just to let you know, my companions and I don't eat meat, which is why they had a very good selection of vegetarian and seafood dishes for us! Then the ambiance, which was AMAZING! Wow, like in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, as if you were there in person. It was just like a movie experience, really. Even with sound effects and live effects on the ship, simply awesome. You have to experience it once to understand what I mean. The food was simply incredible, I ordered the rice with seafood (it's also called rice with prawns, I only found out after I embarrassed myself and said that I "didn't order rice with prawns, but rice with seafood"). So if anyone orders that (which was incredibly delicious, wow, I was shocked) then remember that the rice with prawns is the same as rice with seafood😂 In any case, everything was a solid 100/10, we'll definitely be back, that's for sure🙏🏻 the sun is shining tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing you again!🌞💗

Not just a restaurant, but a true experience! The caravel is a real highlight here, serving not just as a decoration but also contributing to the atmosphere. The rest of the decor completes the look, which one would expect from the colonial power of Portugal. The service team is always on the ball. Everyone works together, and even when everything is full, no one seems stressed and is always interested in the well-being of the guests. Of course, the food is no less impressive. There is a well-stocked menu that isn't too long and offers many specialties. The four of us combined various appetizers with three meat skewers. Everything was very well prepared. A special tip, although not Portuguese: the hot cookie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Overall, not only was the food delicious and well-done, but it also created a culinary memory! We'll definitely be back again.

Simply friendly staff and the food was really delicious

As expected, a really great atmosphere. The food was OK but nothing special. We would have even gladly returned because of the great atmosphere. If it hadn't been for the cheeky waiter who asked us when we ordered whether we wanted bread with aioli. Normally, something like that is served on the house as a gesture. In this case, however, it came at a hefty price of €3 for the bread and €4 for the aioli. For me, it's not about the money. It's more about a cheap attempt to get a little extra money out of the customer. So, unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit.

The atmosphere is truly fantastic. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Unfortunately, the parking situation isn't great, but we can handle it. The volume got very loud twice during the evening, which we couldn't quite tell whether it was someone's birthday or something. Unfortunately, it was impossible to have a conversation while the music was playing.

Unfortunately, the food was completely overseasoned and oversalted. The main course skewers were completely out of proportion with the price (neither quality (cartilage) nor quantity). The ribs were dry and tough. Because of the spices and salt, I couldn't even taste what was meat or what was vegetable... The bread was actually delicious. So was the garlic mayo...

Nice owner, sufficient portions, reasonable prices

Based on a friend's recommendation, we made the 80km drive to Schwerte. We were not disappointed and are absolutely thrilled! 😁 The meal was truly an event. When you stand in front of this replica galley in the restaurant, you're truly blown away. It really blows you away. The food was incredibly delicious. There were four of us, and we had just about every tapas on the table. My absolute highlight was the Piri Piri chicken with potato skin chips and Piri mayonnaise. Absolutely delicious. 😋 We'll definitely be back! 👍

Sensational! We visited Carlos for the first time today and can't understand the negative reviews. The service was extremely friendly, quick, and nothing was too much. Nevertheless, there was still time for kind words. The food, from appetizer to main course, was incredibly delicious. And plentiful. There's enough to satisfy everyone. Thanks to the warm weather, it wasn't full today, but it was busy. The prices are absolutely reasonable and, in our opinion, very reasonable. You can tell that the entire team puts their heart and soul into making their stay a special one. Thank you for the pleasant conversations with Mrs. "Carlos" and her husband. We'll be back very soon.

For our wedding anniversary, we reserved a table for 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, we were greeted very politely and were even able to choose a seat since it wasn't busy yet. The service was very courteous, and our ordered food and drinks arrived promptly. All in all, a very pleasant evening with delicious food in an extraordinary setting. We had half a chicken with fries, a pirate skewer, and a beef fillet skewer with boiled potatoes, as well as a portion of bread with aioli for starters.

Great ambiance with a replica of a ship from a bygone era. The tables with benches became uncomfortable at some point. The food—especially the various appetizers—was consistently delicious. We found the service a bit rushed, serving us the main course while we were still eating our appetizers and clearing our plates even though some people were still eating. Still, a great restaurant with a great ambiance!

This restaurant deserves at least 5 stars across the board 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Side dishes have to be ordered separately, which I think is excellent, as I rarely eat side dishes! It was enough for me to "snag" some potato wedges from my companion 😂. I ordered garlic mayo instead 😋 I had a salmon and vegetable skewer; really great, the salmon was excellent and the vegetables were crunchy 👍🏻 The dessert was also great Grilled pineapple with vanilla ice cream, and my companion had hot volcano with vanilla ice cream Both were excellent 👌 Our server was very friendly, answered all our questions kindly, and served us very courteously. The ambiance is simply stunning. This was our first time here, but we'll definitely be back🤗 Note: My companion just told me that the salad (which we didn't order!) served before our meal was charged €6.50. It was our first time here and we thought it was a "greeting from the kitchen"... So I definitely don't like this approach!! In my opinion, this MUST be pointed out!!! And not just "sneaked in"!! Unfortunately, this leaves a bad taste in our mouths!

A delight for the palate and soul! Restaurant Carlos in Schwerte completely delighted us! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a magnificent ambiance, creating a wonderful, stylish pirate ship atmosphere. You immediately feel at home here and can leave everyday life behind. The food was simply outstanding and we enjoyed it immensely. Every dish was a delight and demonstrated high quality and skill in the kitchen. You definitely get your money's worth here. The very friendly and patient service is also particularly noteworthy. The staff was attentive, courteous, and patiently attended to all our requests. A service that perfectly rounds off the restaurant visit. The value for money is also absolutely excellent. Given the quality of the food, the great ambiance, and the outstanding service, the price is more than justified. We can wholeheartedly recommend Restaurant Carlos and are already looking forward to our next visit!

A ship in the restaurant creates a unique atmosphere. The food is good value for money, and the way everything is served on a spit is surprising. It's a shame that you can't reserve a specific table. There are tables that only have benches, which isn't always possible for people with disabilities, and a chair is better. Barrier-free access via a ramp is available, but you need a member of staff to operate a crank lift to overcome the last few steps. With an escort, this person can easily be fetched, making it very impractical to get into the restaurant alone with a wheelchair or walking frame.

After our first visit in 2019 (first picture), we returned to Restaurant Carlos today (second picture) – and were absolutely thrilled again. The stylish ambience, tasteful decor, and thoughtful details create an atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Carlos' culinary offerings are impressive across the board: fresh ingredients, finely balanced flavors, and a presentation that lives up to its high standards. The quality has remained consistently excellent. As for the prices: In our opinion, the value for money is absolutely spot on. Quality has its value – and that's definitely what you get here. For us, Carlos is exactly the kind of fine dining that makes a visit special. Many thanks to the entire team – we're already looking forward to our next visit!

The ambiance is unusual, the food is truly abysmal! The shrimp are reheated and taste accordingly. When asked, they first deny this, then admit it, and the staff are rather unfriendly. Overall, a very disappointing first and last visit. I really can't understand the many good reviews.

I ate there a few days ago. The food arrived cold, and service took an extremely long time. Furthermore, hygiene was very poor; there was even hair in my food. The meat skewer wasn't cooked through, but was still half raw. Also, when I went to the bathroom, I discovered mouse or rat droppings, which shouldn't happen in a restaurant like this. The staff weren't really interested in the problems. I will definitely never go there again and advise everyone not to eat there.

Four of us were guests at Carlos on Saturday. A clean and stylish restaurant with a cool flair. A ship's body is placed in the middle of the room. where you sit. The food we ordered was delicious, fresh and warm. Well seasoned and the ingredients seemed to be of good quality. There was nothing wrong with the food, the service, the ambience and ultimately the price. Price-performance was right. The only drawback that doesn't actually work is if not everyone gets their food at the same time. That didn't work. At least with us. We've experienced better than that. Would you come back? For sure.

We were given a voucher and went out to eat there for the first time. Unassuming restaurant from the outside, but as soon as you walk in you feel like you're in another world (like in the pirate movie "Hook"). Absolutely recommendable Portuguese restaurant with a fantastic pirate atmosphere and that makes you feel like you're in another time. The food is fresh & well seasoned and delicious 😋....& the service is damn friendly & helpful.... We will also go out to eat there again with the children, because there are also storms on the ship (lights go dark, noises like on a ship...)

I was there today with my wife and we are just thrilled! The service was absolutely first class from start to finish. We would especially like to thank the waiter Ali Müller – incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. His recommendation for food was spot on - we couldn't have chosen better ourselves! You could tell that he does his job with heart. Everything was perfect: the food, the atmosphere, everything! We'll definitely be back. Clear recommendation – 5 stars are almost not enough!

We were there for the first time today and were very impressed by the atmosphere. Something completely different. I had reserved for 3, but it was only set for 2. After the food was there, we asked if there were any cutlery etc. for children?! Service was very inattentive and unfriendly. Service should be trained again! Because that spoiled the whole thing a little. The food was tasty, but unfortunately there was too much salt everywhere, especially on the salmon skewer. Regarding the meat skewer (beef), I would like to mention that 25.90 for 4 pieces of meat without a side dish is very expensive. The prices are literally steep in some places. I understand that everything will be more expensive here too, but it has to be proportionate. And if the service is still so-so, then the whole thing is too expensive. But since we love Portuguese cuisine, we will try there again.

Super great restaurant. The ambience is simply wow. Very detailed with a giant ship. Plus show effects that enhance the mood even more. The staff is very friendly, humane and you get a really great feeling. You can feel that everyone loves their job and is passionate about the guests. And the food, very tasty. Pleasant portions. I had a meat skewer, the skewer made it seem more inviting than an overloaded plate. Plus a super fair price. So quite frankly, go to this restaurant it's just wow. Once again a huge thank you to the kitchen and staff for this experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food as I thought the decor and the whole “experience” here was what made it special. The starters were very tasty (dates OK) - especially the bread with dip was super fresh, even if it is a bit more expensive at €7, highly recommended! I had the mixed meat skewer, which was very well fried. My companions had the burger and beef skewer - also very good. As a side dish I had the potato wedges - but they weren't typical wedges but rather small, not really crispy cubes that tasted more like semi. The service was really friendly and attentive - not stressed or anything like that. But we were there relatively early and it wasn't completely full yet. Be sure to make a reservation, especially on weekends. It’s a little quieter down “in the boat”. There's more going on at the top, but you also have more of the atmosphere that many people come here for.

Today we had dinner at Carlos's with 4 people because of the pictures on the internet. The ambience is the best thing about the shop, but that doesn't take away from the food. The food was delicious, but we wouldn't be full. Very expensive for far too little food. Wouldn't go there a second time. We then drove to the golden M, 4 minutes away. Unfortunately, the great ambience doesn't outweigh the food and the price.

Highly recommended Portuguese cuisine, the ambience in the restaurant is unique with the ship in the middle. Unfortunately the service can't keep up, long waiting times until you can order, changing waiters for the same table... Still worth a visit, it was very tasty. P.S. Too bad!!! We've been back for a while now and unfortunately we were disappointed! Ambience is exceptional. The food was really not good, my potato wedges were lukewarm, limp cubes soaked in fat with no taste. When we asked the service they said: that would be so right! And there wouldn't have been any complaints yet and they wouldn't be crispy?! My Piri chicken was okay but I've had better.

The two of us were in Restaurant Carlos on Sunday evening and were immediately impressed by the stylish furnishings - really tasteful and designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. The meal was excellent! Everything is freshly prepared and tastes perfect. A small downside was that the side dishes were served a few minutes before the main course. But that only diminished the enjoyment minimally. As far as prices go, I don't agree with some of the previous reviews. An espresso for 2 euros is absolutely fair these days, and we generally found the price-performance ratio to be very reasonable. We felt completely at home and enjoy exactly this type of event catering. A big compliment to the team – we’ll be happy to come back!

Food: okay - I expected something different. Service: student temp with no restaurant experience whatsoever. Atmosphere: a carpenter had put something together :-( Price: very expensive, not cheap in the truest sense! Plus, you sit in the dark for about five minutes every hour, listening to the theme from "Pirates of the Caribbean." It's supposed to be an event catering establishment. Sorry, not my thing!

The food was good, but prices have increased more here in recent years than in other restaurants. The service was friendly, but couldn't give any details about the food. Our seat was in the ship, which was pretty cool. But unfortunately they keep turning off the lights and playing loud music in the restaurant, but the "show" is nothing except a few lighting effects. That bothered us.

Nice ambience with a large wooden pirate ship. Well done. Short wait for the food, despite the full house. The bread with the dip, very tasty, prawns were too cooked for me. The pork and annas skewer was delicious. But it would still have been a bit juicy. The strawberry tiramisu is a must. I recommend the atmosphere, drive by and judge for yourself. It's worth it.

2 stars are only given for the food, which was really good, and the truly unique ambiance :) Unfortunately, the service was more than just disappointing. Not only did we have to wait 30 minutes for our first drink...but our main courses also arrived completely late, only 1.5 hours after ordering...and we, along with 8 other guests (11 in total), arrived promptly at 5 p.m. with a reservation. All of this could have been overlooked if our waiter had listened to us for just a moment or even taken us seriously. It was extremely disappointing for us, our first and last time there, as the 130 euros for 5 drinks, 3 main courses, and 1 appetizer was not worth it.

Great atmosphere, the ship is great, It's a shame that the staff isn't dressed or disguised according to the theme. The light show with music is weird, unnecessary, no action at all or a pirate coming around the corner. The bread, starter and turkey skewer were delicious. Unfortunately you won't be full because everything has to be ordered separately. There's nothing wrong with a beef fillet skewer for just €25.90 The potato SHELL chips are a joke, you won't get your money's worth from the portions!!! My husband had ribs that were not seasoned well and were not tender but tough. Nice experience, we don't have to have it again. The dessert was way too sweet and greasy, an almost raw cookie dough with 1 scoop of ice cream and chocolate underneath... a shame.
