Caputo Original pizza from Naples in Berlin

Four of us visiting Berlin from North Rhine-Westphalia decided to go here based on the good reviews... and we weren't disappointed. Great pizzas and salad and a really friendly host who, upon request, let us in on the secrets of a fluffy and super tasty pizza dough. Thumbs up for this small Berlin pizzeria with original Naples pizzas. We'll come back on our next visit!

We visited this place yesterday (20.3.25) with my sister and we absolutely recommend it ! The cook was very nice and friendly, a truly kind-hearted person. We got to try burrata on the house (a shot of limoncino too ;)) and it was delicious. After that we had lasagna and bolognese - we could taste the authenticity and didn’t regret stopping by. The food could use a bit more salt, that was the only little imperfection we found. Thank you ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I first visited the pizzeria two years ago, and it became my favorite. We drove 45 minutes to Neukölln to eat there. Now the owner has changed, and the pizza is just average. It's a shame they haven't been able to build on that. The ingredients aren't nearly as good as they were back then.

The staff is super friendly and chatted with us about the excellent & imported italian lemonade and whatnot. Got to try all of them on the house. Thank you!! As some have mentioned the pizza is a bit too heavily loaded and the dough could be less dominant overall and use some more salt. The pasta gorgonzola however was perfectly light and creamy :)

Unfortunately disappointing. Some of the good reviews are misleading. Pizza and pasta had hardly any taste and you could tell that no emphasis was placed on high-quality ingredients. Not recommended.

No recommendation. Pizza had absolutely no taste and was priced above average. It seems the old owners have moved (right next door) and the new owners are just taking advantage of the good reputation.

Unfortunately the experience was not satisfactory. My bufalina was completely tasteless and my friend's pasta aglio olio was not only too thick but also drowned in oil. Both were barely edible. Six months ago the food here was excellent - but this time it was a disappointment.

the italian owner who made this restaurant famous left unexpectedly and the new owners kept the name and the google map reviews. they are not skilled cooks, funnily pretend to be italian and their pizza and pasta are now well below average. we had a carbonara which was full of salt and a tasteless pizza with the wrong dough. also no cards accepted under the new owner, only cash, i wonder why? what a shame caputo used to have a well deserveed 5 star rating, and now its a really bad and expensive pizza place, dont waste your money.

Really bad food, full of nice staff!

The penne Gorgonzola was a soup made from milk with soft-boiled pasta. The pizza consisted of cheap ingredients and tasted like nothing. Unfortunately overall a total disappointment, despite the nice staff.

True, pizza aint what it used to be but 1 star is just wrong. Who gives one star never ate a bad pizza. Dough needs more salt and pizza is too heavily packed with toppings but the guy behind the counter was very friendly and caring. I think they need to up their game cause there is much competition in the area that makes a better pizza for a similar price

I did not like this pizza. But I want to add the second star because the staff is kind and I like how the place looks.

The food used to be good. Unfortunately not anymore. Pizza wasn't cooked properly. We asked the waiter about it. Had to pay €10 less. Unfortunately no recommendation anymore!

I had dinner there today with my sister and a toddler. The pizzas were very tasty, the dough was thin and well topped, the edges were fluffy. The tiramisu also tasted very good and was not as extremely coffee-soaked as is often the case. When the little one poured the O-juice, the waitress responded very lovingly, which touched us. The little one then promptly received a new glass of orange juice on the house. The service was convincing. Everything was clean, quick and I just felt comfortable and light there. This was mainly due to the very good food and the waiter, who was courteous and exuded an unobtrusive, good atmosphere. Older Italian songs played in the background. Very happy again!

Pepino, who did all the reviews, is now next door!! This is not the right one and the same quality.

The pizza was okay, but you don't have to make it again. The service was nice and attentive, but the seating was uncomfortable (beer benches) and we sat at the table with our jackets on the whole time because there was hardly any heating.

It's not the same owner as before. Unfortunately the pizza quality has declined drastically with the new owners. The guys are super friendly, however no card payment and the taste is bad! If you miss the old caputo just walk 50 meter further. The previous owner opened up a new space, where he still bakes his own pizzas!

Caputo was always our little insider tip for super delicious Neapolitan pizza with a completely authentic Italian ambience. A little piece of real Italy in the middle of Neukölln. Unfortunately we found out today that there are new operators. They continue to bake very bad non-Neapolitan pizza under the name "Caputo". It no longer has anything to do with the Caputo from before. Gouda instead of mozzarella, the crust was very salty, doughy and not at all airy and there wasn't much left of the ambience. It's a real shame but we will never go there again..

I got the Napoli salami (?) I paid 15 euros for takeaway, the staff greets you in Italian but they don’t actually speak it, pizza was not worth the steep price it was so insanely salty that it prevented me from sleeping properly, it was also very very oily. Terrible quality food, and staff pretending to be Italian which is always a red flag. Beware

The owners are no longer the same and you are lied to when you ask. The place is completely disorganized and we had to wait forever to even get a drink. Then we left.

Those who have taken over the store are putting on an operetta theater in Italian. The real store is a few doors down

BEWARE! There are two places called Caputo in the same street currently. The bigger one in Sanderstr. 10 is the legitimate one. The smaller one was stolen by the owner of the building and is now run by these thieves, don't go there! Go to the other one :)

Where is Pepino? It used to be great cozy pizza place. One day the windows got smashed and i saw people shouting threats... Then the place gets shut down for months and reopens with new owner and staff.

I've been going to Caputo II regularly for three years. Since then, the same pizza maker, a super nice Italian man between 50 and 60 (whose name I unfortunately don't know) has always prepared the pizza. It was really the best pizza in Berlin. Unfortunately the gentleman in question stopped and the quality is not comparable. The new pizza maker was extremely helpful, very friendly and accommodating. But the food quality can't keep up in the slightest. Not the pizzas and the salad are completely different, instead of a great - probably homemade - dressing, just a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Even the parmesan is different, very tasteless. Unfortunately we lost some very loyal customers. The pictures show the old Bruschetta (with rocket) and the current one.

Caution!! The actual owner no longer runs this restaurant. It was really good before. Now everything tastes like in any cheap standard pizzeria

The best Carbonara in Berlin!! ❤️❤️

Great, we called after 11 p.m. to see if we could get something to eat. Were there at 11:30 p.m. and got really tasty pizza. The boys gave us tips for our trip to Berlin. We let ourselves eat in peace even though it was actually already closed. The pizza was great, you can't get anything better at this time of day.

The old owner was great but it's not the same people working there anymore....

Unfortunately, without Pepino the previous owner is no longer the original. We were disappointed and unfortunately only realized after we ordered that something was wrong. At that point we didn't want to get up and leave anymore and gave the new owners a chance. First of all, after reading the other reviews and now knowing where Pepino has his new restaurant, we will definitely go back to the original next time. Pepiono has his new restaurant Caputo Pepino next door, this shop is definitely recommended from experience. We know what we can expect from one of the best pizzas in Berlin. Justification for the rating: Ambiance: When we arrived at 7 p.m. the shop was empty and ice cold (except for three people who only had drinks). All guests, including those who arrived later, sat at the table wearing winter jackets. Some guests even left their hats on because they were too cold. Service: The service was friendly. What was unpleasant, however, was that there was no bill at the end. The prices were written down on a receipt pad and were not entered into the cash register. The cash register was just opened and the money was put in without typing anything. No idea if this will be added later? I found it a bit strange. Food: The pizzas were very thick. All three pizzas were borderline burnt on the bottom. One of the pizzas was clearly too burnt on the bottom (more black dough than light dough). Overall, the food was very heavy on the stomach. The ingredients were fine. Overall, a pizza like you can get at any 0815 pizza stand, maybe a bit better but nothing extraordinary. Definitely no comparison to Pepiono's original Neapolitan pizza from the past. Pepino's pizza is simply better! Hence our conclusion: Next time I'll definitely go back to the original, Pepinos Caputo next door

If you want to eat the real pizza from PEPINO original Caputo, you have to go a little further to Sanderstraße 10! The new/old shop has “changed” owners and is trying to imitate the awesome pizza, without success…. GO TO PEPINO!

Very bad, the food didn't taste good at all, I can't recommend it!

This is not Pepino's store. Pepino's shop and the lovely employee Maria are located at Sanderstrasse 10. I know them both very well. So off to Sanderstrasse 10.

It used to be my absolute favorite shop, but the owners have changed. Everything is somehow much worse and definitely no Italians. If anyone knows where the original owner is, I would greatly appreciate the information. He had proudly told me about the new shop, then it was closed for a long time, the windows in the new shop were smashed, and in the old shop there were windy evenings and lazy people sitting with PET water. All very strange. Original review: "Best shop, best owner - a really hard-working, kind and honest person! I like it there a lot!" 5*

Attention: The store has nothing to do with the very good older reviews. There was a change of ownership here. This is noticeable not only in the quality of the food, but also in the ambience. The old good reviews refer to the new shop “Caputo Pepino” which is located at Sanderstr.10.

Bad handling and bad handling ingredients where do the 5 stars come from

Unfortunately, since the new owner took over, the shop can no longer keep up with the previous standards... the food no longer tastes as good, the furnishings are no longer as comfortable and the shop has lost its charm and warmth without Pepito. The original Caputo can now be found under the name Caputo Pepino a few entrances further to the left.

How sad. Window panes smashed. Former, charming owner gone. And a copy next door under the same name. The building contractor, now operator of both, will never understand why some restaurants work and some don't.

I was with my family today and it was really nice. The waiter was very friendly to us and responded to all our requests. My children also felt very comfortable. Highly recommended store. I will definitely come back

BEWARE AND PLEASE PAY ATTENTION: For the real one please go to the larger restaurant in Sanderstr. 10 right next to Sippi. The smaller one has new owners and is not the legitimate caputo even though the sign is still there.

Pizza was delicious and ppl are super friendly

It used to be the best pizza in Berlin. Now perhaps the worst under new owners... Tastes like nothing, Gouda instead of mozzarella, not even Neapolitan. The new owners want to tell me there was no change...

Very friendly and attentive service, delicious food, large portions. Very child-friendly: we got an extra pizza (in the shape of a bunny) and an extra dessert for my granddaughter!!

Caution!!! New shop at no. 10, but it doesn't belong to the original Caputo. The small, cozy shop at No. 5 is the right place for good service and delicious food. We were there again as a group today and were treated warmly. As always, the food tasted great despite the new employees.

Napoli non c’e. Unfortunately, an absolute trap. About the pizza: Dough tough and rubbery, basically not fermented, crust doughy and without air, the pizza is not baked in a stone oven as advertised outside but dried in an electric oven at around 330 degrees, pizza biscotto you might say in Italian. The dough also lacks salt, which is why it also lacks structure. Unfortunately, the toppings and tomato sauce are also more than average. The prices are absolutely not justified for the product. The service is really nice but unfortunately very planned. Actually had to order twice and it took forever for them to serve four pizzas. As far as we could observe, we weren't the only table with this problem. Please just go to one of the other great Neapolitan pizzerias in town.

We used to love this place. But recently we realized the owner has changed, they don’t accept card anymore and most importantly pizza was not good. I have seen some comments saying the original owner moved to a different store so be careful which one you go.

Mega super delicious. At first I thought 12.50 € for a lasagna, but I have to say it was a huge portion and then I had to take the rest with me because I couldn't make it and it simply couldn't be fresher or tastier! Super super friendly staff. And the chef is simply fantastic so I can highly recommend it!

We were attracted by the reviews. The pizza was delicious, good price and quantity but nothing out of this world. Between diners, they did not change the tablecloths on the tables and we left smelling like food.

Review refers to the new store to the left of the old store. Attention new shop, new owner. It has nothing to do with the reviews before it or with the “old” shop to the right of it. Pizza and lasagne were 6/10. Way too much cheese on pizza and lasagna. No lemon or ice available for the Averna (huh?). The owner is not Italian, even if he claims otherwise (lol).

Pizza and pasta are good. You don't get those stylish, perfect Neapolitan pizzas here, but rather the down-to-earth ones. The dough and topping are still good and the price is right. The owner and restaurant are definitely friendly and welcoming. Worth a visit if you're in the corner.

Danger! There are two Caputo on this street that are not equally good. In any case, we weren't in the restaurant that these extremely good reviews matched. The signs outside are the same, but they don't have the promised quality and ambience.

The shop is nice and the food is actually impeccable. Unfortunately the owner spilled a whole lot of wine on my clothes and shoes. It obviously wasn't intentional, and he didn't notice it at first. When I brought this to his attention, he apologized but did not offer to cover the cleaning costs or compensate for the food and wine. In my opinion this is extremely poor service! I won't be seeing this restaurant again anytime soon.

Very very tasty pasta. Plus good house wine. Friendly service. Unpretentious, nice atmosphere. You just feel good. We'll definitely be back!

The service was abhorrent, they were just straight up rude to us, people arrived after us received our table while we were put in the corner. That party also ended up getting their food and finishing before our drinks even got served. The food was cut up weirdly and was not prepared with care. At the end we got overcharged. Disgusting behaviour all round from the chef and owner of the restaurant.

Really good Neapolitan pizza and very friendly owner! The local ambience can take you back to your last stay in Italy Edit about a year later: I don't know if the owner changed, at least he wasn't there and someone else was cooking... Looking at the pasta I got, I just can't imagine that it's still the same nice Italian place , because his pasta dishes were always very tasty... A carbonara was ordered, I got pasta in a cream sauce (which isn't on the menu) - when I asked him an irritated question, the very nice chef said that people always ask for it that way, so they adapted (what an authentic shop). shouldn't do that?!) - he then suggested that I make a new portion and did so willingly because I said I would like to eat a real carbonara. After that came a pasta dish that left me absolutely speechless, because absolutely nothing about it was right: the bacon was the typical diced one from the German supermarket, not guanciale or at least pancetta, and it wasn't fried until crispy Whole eggs were used, which caused the “sauce” to curdle, and there was no emulsion of egg, pasta water and cheese The cheese was not stirred in but was just sprinkled on at the end and was definitely neither Pecorino Romano nor Parmigiano Reggiano The whole thing was way too salty and tasted a little like there was broth in it There was parsley on it...? That was really the worst pasta ever and I'm writing it all in such detail because the chef is an Italian and therefore definitely knows what makes a real carbonara, he just doesn't seem to care even when asked and he probably thinks the customers will already eating The pizza there is still very tasty

I'm not sure that's a Sicilian one, but definitely, you may think you are in Italy. Great food for fair money.

We came here last year and it was great but today we couldn’t even believe how bland the carbonara was - it really tasted like the pasta you’d have at a döner place. The pizza was ok but nothing special. I don’t know if the cooks changed or what happened but it was really sad.

Unfortunately I have to say that my visit to this Italian restaurant was a disappointment. What struck me particularly negatively was the pizza. The tomato sauce was completely tasteless and had an unpleasant sour aftertaste. This is unacceptable for a pizza that mainly consists of dough, tomato sauce and cheese. The mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella, which are usually known for their creamy texture and full flavor, also failed to impress here. They simply didn't taste as usual, which further detracted from the enjoyment of the pizza. Overall the pizza was well below the standard I expect from an Italian restaurant. I hope the restaurant takes this criticism seriously and significantly improves the quality of its ingredients and preparation.

Good food at reasonable price point and top notch service and attitude!

We went to another pizza place near by in the past, good pizza but too much of a wait. So we walked down the street…glad we did. This place doesn’t have the “hip-cool” vibe as the other, more of a straight up NYC street Italian Pizza joint. This place is the jam!! Best tasting pizza in a long time. This place was absolutely amazing. The food was outstanding and the staff was so nice! They were so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so cozy and it seemed like all the other guests had the same experience as me and my friends. What an amazing night with my friends. Because of the many good reviews, I visited the Caputo. I wanted to eat a good Neapolitan pizza. The ambience isn't particularly great. You really walk past it, the restaurant is so inconspicuous. Parking is difficult to find, but I was lucky. Inside Tao is also particularly nice, very simple with somewhat uncomfortable seating. The audience is international and you can hear a wide variety of languages. I ordered a pizza Diavolo. The meal took longer than I thought. When the pizza arrived I tested the dough first. Unfortunately the dough wasn't as expected. It was crispy on the outside, but not burnt. Inside it was too hard and tough. Too little salt in terms of taste. Overall the dough was rather disappointing compared to other restaurants. The topping was also underwhelming. The salami was on the dough and had obviously not been baked (salami was cold), including stains of the cheese. The tomato sauce was also unspectacular: there was no salt or spices. Only in the center of the pizza were a few basil leaves that had shriveled up due to the heat. Denoter the pizza with a little olive oil. In terms of taste, it wasn't a revelation. Payment was made to the boss, who was extremely nice. And that's exactly why it's difficult for me to rate it. He was really very nice and the conversation with him was entertaining. But I have my criteria and the pizta was simply below average. Unfortunately there is nothing to sugarcoat. Maybe they were just having a bad day in the kitchen...

Iconic little pizzeria with Neapolitan pizza and pasta dishes. Friendly owner, delicious pizza, everything handmade. Highly recommended!

A small and authentic pizzeria that sells delicious dishes as well as Italian food has left a lasting impression. The pizzas were excellent. The dough was perfectly baked, crispy yet soft on the inside. The topping of fresh buffalo mozzarella on the Bufalina pizza, tomatoes and basil was delicious. Every bite was a delight. The pasta dishes, the Penne Forno and the Fettuccini con Filetto, were tasty, but not outstanding. I would definitely come back, especially for the Pizza Bufalina. If you're looking for great pizza, I highly recommend this restaurant.

If I could, I’d give 6 stars to the atmosphere and service!

By far the worst pizza I ordered was tuna and it wasn't good. I had the feeling that they had put an extra half liter in my pizza, the place is not worth recommending.
