Caputo Original pizza from Naples in Berlin

This is not Pepino's store. Pepino's shop and the lovely employee Maria are located at Sanderstrasse 10. I know them both very well. So off to Sanderstrasse 10.

As an italian, this was very disappointing ... place was quite empty which was already quite sus but i thought hey at least I'll have my pizza quickly. Well, not at all, pizza took more than 30 mins for some reason and while waiting all the doors and windows were open to let the smoke out (why isn't that absorbed somehow?) and as a consequence everyone was freezing and had to keep their coats on. Pizza eventually arrives and was basically burnt, still veeery far from being the best neapolitan pizza in berlin ... Bathroom experience also bad, no light, flush not working. Cannot recommend this place.

Can you give 0 stars? Change of ownership; it hasn't been good since. The combination of poor service and tasteless pasta made this evening unforgettable... unforgettably bad. We also waited forever for the food.

Not authentic Neapolitan and very tasteless food. We had to wait 90 minutes for the pizza, and only then did they realize they had forgotten the pasta we ordered. Very disappointing.

Went because of the good reviews. The pizza wasn't good. Few customers, and no takeout, which also says a lot.

We were there on Saturday evening. The staff welcomed us warmly. The food was incredibly delicious; you could taste the quality. At the end, we all got shots on the house since we were there to celebrate a birthday. We'll definitely be back, thanks to the team!

We ate here half a year ago, and the pizza Napoli was really good again today. The service was friendly and attentive. I think there's been a change of ownership, but the old owners are supporting the new ones during the handover, and we were happy. I thought the prices were good!

After the change of ownership, the good spirit was unfortunately lost. The bottle of wine was supposed to cost 30 euros, but the bill was 35 euros 😉. We thought we wouldn't notice and didn't pay the 5 euros. 65 euros for 2 pizzas and 1 bottle of wine is a lot of money...

One of the best pizzas I’ve had in Berlin! The dough and sauce were full of flavor, and the pastas we tried were just as delicious. Portions are huge, and the place has an authentic vibe. Big thanks to the chef, he was super kind and helpful. You might wait a bit when it’s busy, but it’s totally worth it!

Amazing pizza; all the different flavours was such a good combination. The pasta carbonara was also really good and creamy! A bit buttery in the taste in the pasta carbonara, but in a good way. The red wine was also soo good, and it was 5€ for A HUGE GLASS. We also got free limoncello shots aftereards! But DO not order the lasagna, it tasted like bottled tuna. But the other food was amazing, and so nice staff!!!

The food at Caputo was simply fantastic! The pizza was authentic, fresh, and full of flavor—just like in Italy. The service was fast, friendly, and very attentive. Worst employer ever. The supposedly Italian owner (actually Arab) pockets the waiters' tips himself. He makes his own mistakes and blames them on the waiters! Very unfriendly and often rude!

Had this place in mind as an outstanding pizza gem .. authentic, fantastic pizza for good value. but was quite disappointed the last time. Somehow it has changed a lot in the last year or so. Hope it gets back on the right track again though.

Atmosphere was lively and nice, but unfortunately the pizza had hardly any taste (neither the dough, nor the tomato nor the cheese). But she was big.

Pizza was very limp. Apparently the old owner Pepino is no longer there, which is a shame. His pizza has nothing to do with the previous pizza and doesn't come close. Never again

Four of us visiting Berlin from North Rhine-Westphalia decided to go here based on the good reviews... and we weren't disappointed. Great pizzas and salad and a really friendly host who, upon request, let us in on the secrets of a fluffy and super tasty pizza dough. Thumbs up for this small Berlin pizzeria with original Naples pizzas. We'll come back on our next visit!

We visited this place yesterday (20.3.25) with my sister and we absolutely recommend it ! The cook was very nice and friendly, a truly kind-hearted person. We got to try burrata on the house (a shot of limoncino too ;)) and it was delicious. After that we had lasagna and bolognese - we could taste the authenticity and didn’t regret stopping by. The food could use a bit more salt, that was the only little imperfection we found. Thank you ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I first visited the pizzeria two years ago, and it became my favorite. We drove 45 minutes to Neukölln to eat there. Now the owner has changed, and the pizza is just average. It's a shame they haven't been able to build on that. The ingredients aren't nearly as good as they were back then.

The staff is super friendly and chatted with us about the excellent & imported italian lemonade and whatnot. Got to try all of them on the house. Thank you!! As some have mentioned the pizza is a bit too heavily loaded and the dough could be less dominant overall and use some more salt. The pasta gorgonzola however was perfectly light and creamy :)

No recommendation. Pizza had absolutely no taste and was priced above average. It seems the old owners have moved (right next door) and the new owners are just taking advantage of the good reputation.

Unfortunately the experience was not satisfactory. My bufalina was completely tasteless and my friend's pasta aglio olio was not only too thick but also drowned in oil. Both were barely edible. Six months ago the food here was excellent - but this time it was a disappointment.

the italian owner who made this restaurant famous left unexpectedly and the new owners kept the name and the google map reviews. they are not skilled cooks, funnily pretend to be italian and their pizza and pasta are now well below average. we had a carbonara which was full of salt and a tasteless pizza with the wrong dough. also no cards accepted under the new owner, only cash, i wonder why? what a shame caputo used to have a well deserveed 5 star rating, and now its a really bad and expensive pizza place, dont waste your money.

The penne Gorgonzola was a soup made from milk with soft-boiled pasta. The pizza consisted of cheap ingredients and tasted like nothing. Unfortunately overall a total disappointment, despite the nice staff.

True, pizza aint what it used to be but 1 star is just wrong. Who gives one star never ate a bad pizza. Dough needs more salt and pizza is too heavily packed with toppings but the guy behind the counter was very friendly and caring. I think they need to up their game cause there is much competition in the area that makes a better pizza for a similar price

The food used to be good. Unfortunately not anymore. Pizza wasn't cooked properly. We asked the waiter about it. Had to pay €10 less. Unfortunately no recommendation anymore!

I had dinner there today with my sister and a toddler. The pizzas were very tasty, the dough was thin and well topped, the edges were fluffy. The tiramisu also tasted very good and was not as extremely coffee-soaked as is often the case. When the little one poured the O-juice, the waitress responded very lovingly, which touched us. The little one then promptly received a new glass of orange juice on the house. The service was convincing. Everything was clean, quick and I just felt comfortable and light there. This was mainly due to the very good food and the waiter, who was courteous and exuded an unobtrusive, good atmosphere. Older Italian songs played in the background. Very happy again!

The pizza was okay, but you don't have to make it again. The service was nice and attentive, but the seating was uncomfortable (beer benches) and we sat at the table with our jackets on the whole time because there was hardly any heating.

It's not the same owner as before. Unfortunately the pizza quality has declined drastically with the new owners. The guys are super friendly, however no card payment and the taste is bad! If you miss the old caputo just walk 50 meter further. The previous owner opened up a new space, where he still bakes his own pizzas!

Caputo was always our little insider tip for super delicious Neapolitan pizza with a completely authentic Italian ambience. A little piece of real Italy in the middle of Neukölln. Unfortunately we found out today that there are new operators. They continue to bake very bad non-Neapolitan pizza under the name "Caputo". It no longer has anything to do with the Caputo from before. Gouda instead of mozzarella, the crust was very salty, doughy and not at all airy and there wasn't much left of the ambience. It's a real shame but we will never go there again..

I got the Napoli salami (?) I paid 15 euros for takeaway, the staff greets you in Italian but they don’t actually speak it, pizza was not worth the steep price it was so insanely salty that it prevented me from sleeping properly, it was also very very oily. Terrible quality food, and staff pretending to be Italian which is always a red flag. Beware

The owners are no longer the same and you are lied to when you ask. The place is completely disorganized and we had to wait forever to even get a drink. Then we left.

BEWARE! There are two places called Caputo in the same street currently. The bigger one in Sanderstr. 10 is the legitimate one. The smaller one was stolen by the owner of the building and is now run by these thieves, don't go there! Go to the other one :)

Those who have taken over the store are putting on an operetta theater in Italian. The real store is a few doors down

Where is Pepino? It used to be great cozy pizza place. One day the windows got smashed and i saw people shouting threats... Then the place gets shut down for months and reopens with new owner and staff.

I've been going to Caputo II regularly for three years. Since then, the same pizza maker, a super nice Italian man between 50 and 60 (whose name I unfortunately don't know) has always prepared the pizza. It was really the best pizza in Berlin. Unfortunately the gentleman in question stopped and the quality is not comparable. The new pizza maker was extremely helpful, very friendly and accommodating. But the food quality can't keep up in the slightest. Not the pizzas and the salad are completely different, instead of a great - probably homemade - dressing, just a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Even the parmesan is different, very tasteless. Unfortunately we lost some very loyal customers. The pictures show the old Bruschetta (with rocket) and the current one.

Caution!! The actual owner no longer runs this restaurant. It was really good before. Now everything tastes like in any cheap standard pizzeria

Great, we called after 11 p.m. to see if we could get something to eat. Were there at 11:30 p.m. and got really tasty pizza. The boys gave us tips for our trip to Berlin. We let ourselves eat in peace even though it was actually already closed. The pizza was great, you can't get anything better at this time of day.

The old owner was great but it's not the same people working there anymore....

Unfortunately, without Pepino the previous owner is no longer the original. We were disappointed and unfortunately only realized after we ordered that something was wrong. At that point we didn't want to get up and leave anymore and gave the new owners a chance. First of all, after reading the other reviews and now knowing where Pepino has his new restaurant, we will definitely go back to the original next time. Pepiono has his new restaurant Caputo Pepino next door, this shop is definitely recommended from experience. We know what we can expect from one of the best pizzas in Berlin. Justification for the rating: Ambiance: When we arrived at 7 p.m. the shop was empty and ice cold (except for three people who only had drinks). All guests, including those who arrived later, sat at the table wearing winter jackets. Some guests even left their hats on because they were too cold. Service: The service was friendly. What was unpleasant, however, was that there was no bill at the end. The prices were written down on a receipt pad and were not entered into the cash register. The cash register was just opened and the money was put in without typing anything. No idea if this will be added later? I found it a bit strange. Food: The pizzas were very thick. All three pizzas were borderline burnt on the bottom. One of the pizzas was clearly too burnt on the bottom (more black dough than light dough). Overall, the food was very heavy on the stomach. The ingredients were fine. Overall, a pizza like you can get at any 0815 pizza stand, maybe a bit better but nothing extraordinary. Definitely no comparison to Pepiono's original Neapolitan pizza from the past. Pepino's pizza is simply better! Hence our conclusion: Next time I'll definitely go back to the original, Pepinos Caputo next door

If you want to eat the real pizza from PEPINO original Caputo, you have to go a little further to Sanderstraße 10! The new/old shop has “changed” owners and is trying to imitate the awesome pizza, without success…. GO TO PEPINO!

Very bad, the food didn't taste good at all, I can't recommend it!

It used to be my absolute favorite shop, but the owners have changed. Everything is somehow much worse and definitely no Italians. If anyone knows where the original owner is, I would greatly appreciate the information. He had proudly told me about the new shop, then it was closed for a long time, the windows in the new shop were smashed, and in the old shop there were windy evenings and lazy people sitting with PET water. All very strange. Original review: "Best shop, best owner - a really hard-working, kind and honest person! I like it there a lot!" 5*

Bad handling and bad handling ingredients where do the 5 stars come from

Unfortunately, since the new owner took over, the shop can no longer keep up with the previous standards... the food no longer tastes as good, the furnishings are no longer as comfortable and the shop has lost its charm and warmth without Pepito. The original Caputo can now be found under the name Caputo Pepino a few entrances further to the left.

How sad. Window panes smashed. Former, charming owner gone. And a copy next door under the same name. The building contractor, now operator of both, will never understand why some restaurants work and some don't.

I was with my family today and it was really nice. The waiter was very friendly to us and responded to all our requests. My children also felt very comfortable. Highly recommended store. I will definitely come back
