Buddha Kitchen in Neu-Ulm

The food is delicious, but for the price, it could be better and more varied, especially the appetizers and sushi. We loved it here before the move, but we don't really like the new location anymore – the door is open all the time, so it's cold and smells of smoke. The staff is overwhelmed by the large number of guests and is no longer as friendly and quick as before.

I had dinner here yesterday, and unfortunately, my visit was disappointing. First, I was brought the wrong dish—it happens, but I just accepted it. When I paid, however, I was charged for a dish that was four euros more expensive than the one I actually ordered and ate. Additionally, I later saw on my bank statement that the waiter added a one-euro more tip than I had specified when paying by card. Overall, it didn't make a trustworthy impression—a shame, because the food itself was fine.

It's not worth the hype. Sure, the restaurant is lovingly decorated, and you'll spend a lovely evening. The food (bowls) is good, but lacks the wow factor. And when three of the four glasses delivered are dirty... one even had a dead insect in it. Sorry, that's a little weak.

We had reserved a table in advance – definitely recommended, as the restaurant is almost always full, even during the week. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly and shown straight to our seats. The service was extremely attentive – we felt like we weren't just being served, but being truly looked after. After a quick look at the varied menu, we were able to express our wishes, which were promptly fulfilled with a smile. The dishes were beautifully presented and a true highlight – as Asian food fans, we were thrilled! We were especially pleased with the small, very tasty side dish from the kitchen. An all-round successful evening – thanks to Cam ơn for the wonderful experience! We would love to come back.

We waited almost two hours for our food. The sushi was good, but way overpriced. I had a soup that I didn't like at all. The staff weren't particularly friendly either, and were rather annoyed that we were there, and even a bit rude.

We were very disappointed with our visit. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait an extremely long time – almost two hours in total – for our food to finally arrive. Instead of taking so many reservations, they should focus on improving the quality and service for their guests. We also witnessed some restaurant employees being shouted at and treated rather strangely (presumably by the manager). This was very unpleasant to witness and further spoiled the overall experience. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant in this condition.

I made a reservation online, and everything went smoothly. The food was good, the service was very friendly, and the restaurant was very nice with a great atmosphere. The back area is also suitable for larger group gatherings, such as birthday parties. We had summer rolls and gyoza, both of which were very good. We also had sushi. The sushi was good, but we had trouble eating it because it fell apart. Plastic chopsticks aren't ideal for eating sushi, as you can't hold them properly. Wooden chopsticks are better.

I just picked up a Mekong salad with chicken to go. I have to say it was totally disappointing, almost outrageous. I ordered the same salad at a restaurant about three months ago, back at the old location. The portion size at the restaurant was easily double, and now the salad I paid for had practically no rice noodles in it. It would have been an appetizer at best. I was really annoyed. All I can say is, never again! There are much better competitors.

Just like the last few times, it was very, very tasty. This time I ordered to-go, and the platter was ready for pickup in 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, we didn't even make it there. We had submitted a reservation request online and hadn't received a response even after two weeks. When I called back, I was told, in a very rude manner, that they had over 150 reservation requests and had yet to respond. To date, we haven't received a response. Unfortunately, the current impression is that their success has led to them losing out on potential customers by driving them away. We'd rather spend our money at another restaurant.

A great atmosphere in the restaurant! The service was friendly, but they sometimes brought the wrong food to the table. Unfortunately, the food was rather bland for the price and below expectations. I can't rate the sushi, though. A hair in the food and a fly in the drink unfortunately didn't earn any bonus points.

Update 2025 Now at the new location Insel 2 in Neu Ulm with a larger and stylish space and a view of the Danube and Ulm Minster. Prices have increased. Service and food remain excellent. Highly recommended, even just for a cocktail. New in Neu-Ulm since the beginning of December. Sushi and Asian cuisine with a high standard. Not the usual buffet monotony, but sophisticated dishes presented in an interesting and appealing way. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. During peak times, you should also bring your time and composure.

The restaurant has moved to a different location and now offers more space, including lovely outdoor seating. However, reservations are still recommended. The food, service, and ambiance are all great. The only thing that bothered us about where we sat was that it's in a corridor, with people constantly walking through it (staff or guests going to/from the restroom), which created a recurring, unpleasant draft. But that's simply due to the architecture. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but they're worth it. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Buddha Kitchen in Neu-Ulm and was absolutely thrilled. The sushi selections and the pho soup were outstanding, everything fresh and flavorful. Excellent value for money. I was also particularly impressed by the friendly and attentive staff, who made my visit very pleasant. The ambiance is modern, stylish, and cozy at the same time – you immediately feel at home. A restaurant that I can definitely recommend.

We had dinner there in April. The service and food were good, beautifully presented, but unfortunately, the entrance door was open almost the entire time. It was quite chilly, and smoke from the smokers drifted in.

What a night (again)! We travel twice a year from NL to Austria (winter) or other parts of Southern Europe (summer) and Ulm is the best place to do a stop/sleepover. Even though reservations are a bit slow—we booked on Monday for Friday and didn't find out until Thursday that we'd be able to get in—it was worth the wait. Despite the large number of guests, we received friendly service and had a lovely evening. We'd love to go back!

Very disappointing! We had reserved a table for two people. Initially, the waiter said the sushi would take longer today. We then specifically decided against sushi and instead opted for hot main courses. The waiter had apparently typed our order to the wrong table, so our appetizer ended up on the next table, and it wasn't immediately noticeable. When the error was corrected, we received our appetizer before our drinks, although we had already ordered 20 minutes earlier. After that, there was no further service at our table. Our appetizer plates weren't cleared, even though the waiters kept passing by. After about an hour and a half, we finally asked for our main course. The waiter said he'd check. After that, again, there was no response. We then paid (appetizers & drinks) and went home hungry at 10 p.m. We certainly won't be coming back. You shouldn't allocate so many tables if the service and kitchen can't cope.

The Buddha Church in Neu-Ulm is an absolute eye-catcher: The ambiance on the Danube is beautiful, and the food is truly delicious. It's a feast for the senses! Unfortunately, there's one major drawback for me: the prices are far too high. This is especially true for drinks. A 0.75-liter bottle of still water for €7.50 is simply grossly overpriced and spoils an otherwise wonderful experience. Bottom line: If you're willing to dig deep into your pockets, you'll get a top location and very good food. But you have to be aware that they charge a lot here. We paid €85 for two people, including drinks and food.

It was our first time at the Buddha Restaurant in Ulm and we were immediately impressed. The relaxed atmosphere strikes you as soon as you enter, and the view from the terrace directly onto the Danube is simply breathtaking. The food… it was perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and lovingly presented. The team was attentive without being intrusive, and you can tell they put their heart and soul into their work. A place where you can completely forget about everyday life. For me, it's a highlight in Ulm, and I'll definitely visit again.

We've been there twice and are always impressed. The service is very friendly, fast, and attentive. The food and drinks arrive within minutes. And the ambiance on the Danube is simply beautiful. The music and volume are very pleasant, and the seating is very comfortable.

This is the third time I've eaten here. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, but unfortunately this time I didn't like the service. There was little attention to the customer. I asked for the bill and only after 20 minutes and getting up to see where to pay did I go to the cash register. I asked for the receipt and was told that the cash register couldn't print it. I left my email address to get an electronic receipt but didn't receive any email. This will definitely be my last time there, which is a shame because the food is really good.

We often enjoy Asian food. This was our first time here and we'll definitely choose Buddha Kitchen over other restaurants. Everything was just perfect! Great, friendly service, a lovely atmosphere, delicious food – beautifully presented – (Tip: #14 Tapas Platter!), and in our opinion, the value for money is also good. We highly recommend it and have included this restaurant in our top 10 in Ulm.

Very long waiting time for the dishes, like 1,5 hours.. you feel like you could starve to death before the food arrives. The food itself is average, nothing special; I’d say you can find the same dish better in Cocono. On the positive side, the waitress was very nice and friendly. One strange thing I noticed: there are reviews dated 3–4 months ago, even 1–2 years ago, 99% of them are 5 star for sure, but the restaurant was closed during that time... This makes the current rating look suspicious.

But I highly recommend it; the new location looks even better. Nice atmosphere, good service, and absolutely delicious food. Always worth a visit!

Had to wait for over an hour to receive our food, none of the staff ever apologized for the wait and when we said the food was alright but the wait was a bother they were just silent about it. I hate to say it but the food tasted like fast food. There are much nicer asian restaurants in the city.

Budha Kitchen has just opened right on the Danube in Neu-Ulm, just across the bridge from Ulm. It's a real surprise for many. The location right on the water is fantastic. The owner is, as always, very hospitable, and the service was super friendly and attentive. The food is truly delicious, and the ambiance is cozy and lovingly designed. Be sure to try the homemade lemonades, especially the lychee and mango passion fruit ones. They're a real highlight. Highly recommended. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great location by the Danube - but the primary reason to visit a restaurant is the food. Why is it that as soon as a place is successful, the standards slip - the curry goes from sauce to soup, more and more cheap pepper appears, and the broccoli is thrown in uncooked, it never saw a wok to be stir-fried as it should.

Unfortunately, a disappointing evening – a long wait without any information We had reserved a table on July 4th at 8 p.m. The waiter initially said it might take a little longer – which was fine with us. But after waiting for over 2.5 hours, we hadn't received our food, nor did anyone check in between to see if everything was okay. Only a small appetizer arrived after about an hour, and after that: nothing. No response, no service, no information. At 10:30 p.m., we politely asked, but even then, no one could tell us when our food would arrive. We then paid (for the appetizer and drinks) and left – unfortunately disappointed. Other guests also left the restaurant early that evening. Given the crowds, we believe it would be better to accept fewer guests to maintain the quality. It's a real shame, because the restaurant actually makes a good impression.

Reserved for 8:30 p.m., arrived on time. We were skillfully ignored at the entrance; everyone in front of us and everyone behind us were seated first? Then they couldn't find our reservation? That completely ruined my mood. I waited half an hour at the table to order. Starter was extremely delicious. Main course simply came out wrong? Ordered teriyaki, got coconut curry? Dessert was not tasty, unfortunately. In the end, I paid €97.50 for two people. For that money, I'll go to Coco Sushi or a steakhouse next time. Absolutely average taste. Service was a total disaster. Waitresses, however, were very friendly. The action at the entrance was completely unacceptable. For those prices, I expect a certain level of service. First and last visit to the new restaurant.

Atmospheric sushi experience at Buddha 🍣 From the moment we arrived, we immediately felt at home at Buddha. The ambiance is stylish and inviting – the dark decor, in particular, creates an aesthetic and relaxed atmosphere that perfectly matches the sushi concept. The service was very attentive from the start. We received a warm welcome and immediately felt at ease – the staff welcomed us warmly and were helpful, prompt, and courteous throughout the evening. What was particularly nice was that, at our request, they brought us plenty of ginger – a small but very welcome touch! The sushi itself tasted really good, especially the tempura rolls, which are available in both small and large sizes – we loved them! One small criticism: The inside-out rolls could have been a bit more intensely seasoned or more varied for our taste – they seemed a bit subdued in flavor in comparison. All in all, it was a successful visit – delicious sushi, top-notch service, and a truly lovely atmosphere. We'd definitely be back!

The new location directly on the Danube is a massive ambiance upgrade. In addition to the already fantastic food, there's now an equally wonderful view of the Danube and the cathedral. The service was very friendly and checked several times to make sure we had everything we wanted. The various sushi rolls were beautifully presented and tasted fresh and delicious. An absolute recommendation for all fans of Asian cuisine!

The food was delicious, but the service on opening day was extremely disappointing. We were seated "around the corner" and regularly felt like we'd been forgotten. A shame! Order a drink? Wait. Order food? Only after we asked. We were finished after 3 hours. Perhaps they were too busy or not enough staff were scheduled for the new, larger store? Unfortunately, this experience doesn't motivate us to come back again.

Very good Asian food, we really enjoyed the rolls, sushi and also warm dishes. The service is relaxed but always friendly and accommodating, very good communication. Customer requests are taken into account and the food recommendations were always very good. The furnishings were chosen according to the expectations of the name of the restaurant and we liked it. The restaurant itself is not very big, so the seating is tight, but that's understandable given the rush of guests. Depending on the space, people picking up the food you ordered could be a bit annoying, especially if it keeps getting cold when you open the door (depending on the weather). But it is usually within limits. We are already looking forward to the next visit and wish you continued success until then!

We came without reservation, got nice table. Half hours after opening, restorant was full. Didn't wait long for food. Meals was nice decored and most importantly very tasty. We payed separately,just didn't like from waiter that he took for granted for tip from last guy paying. He ask: you need change (back)? The vegetables in the dishes are also of very good quality and taste really delicious. If you love good sushi, this is definitely the right place for you. The prices for sushi are absolutely reasonable, but things get steep when it comes to drinks, normal rice dishes and desserts. The prices here are not justified, which clouds the overall picture somewhat. A big drawback is the temperature in the restaurant, especially in the cold season. Some of the seats next to the door shouldn't actually be allocated because it's simply too cold. The curtain at the entrance is of little use if it's constantly open, and the door is constantly opened - you'll freeze even if you eat good food. For the price level, a properly heated atmosphere would be more than appropriate. The service is friendly, but sometimes a bit inattentive. It may happen that you have to try several times to make yourself noticeable. Conclusion: Sushi fans will get their money's worth here, but if you value a cozy, warm atmosphere and fair prices for all food and drinks, you should think twice.

The quality is always top, the ingredients are fresh, and the sushi creations are not only delicious, but also beautifully prepared. No matter whether classic rolls or more unusual variations – everything tastes good here. There are also vegan options. The service is friendly, structured and customer-oriented. For me it's the best place if I want to eat really good sushi, whether to pick it up or eat there! Many thanks to the great team!

The Buddha Kitchen in the heart of Neu-Ulm has a cute, cozy atmosphere. We were absolutely thrilled by the quality of the food and also by the friendliness and courteousness of the staff. The rice dish with coconut curry and crispy chicken is particularly recommended; it tastes fantastic and skillful. Sushi is also very good. The lychee drink with pomegranate was also absolutely excellent and recommended. The prices are a bit high but still reasonable. We'll be back :-)

Insanely disappointed - rude on the phone and just wanted to brush us off. She also gave misinformation about allergens (gluten) or just said it was exactly as it said (several times) in order to hang up as quickly as possible. In the end, we picked up the food (sushi) on time, but I couldn't eat more than half of it because it wasn't delivered "as it said". Unfortunately, not being full and having to throw away the food is pure disappointment for that kind of money. UPDATE: got a lot better!
