A very nice, quaint restaurant with very friendly staff, but the food isn't that great. We had a schnitzel with fries, a goose hash, and half a duck with dumplings. The fries were soggy. The duck was tender, the dumplings were very good, the gravy was greasy, and the hash tasted sour. At home, we had stomach aches and a greasy film in our mouths. The beer (we had non-alcoholic) tastes good, especially the light beer.

We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, the staff extremely attentive, the prices absolutely fair, and the atmosphere pleasant and charming. We highly recommend this restaurant: Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle), roast pork, and schnitzel with fries for the kids – all perfectly prepared. We were especially surprised by the negative reviews on Google, as they completely contradicted our experience. We were there with our two children and found it very child-friendly. We'll definitely be back!

We had reserved a table online for New Year's Eve, which worked out very well. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. My large salad plate with goat cheese was also beautifully presented. All in all, a lovely evening.

Very nicely decorated, a truly great atmosphere. We recommended cheese spaetzle for our visit. A safe bet in the Allgäu... What arrived was, at best, inadequate. Spaetzle with minimal cheese and most likely from a package. Culinary failure, a complete failure, or rather, on the level of a commercial kitchen canteen. A real shame.

A super cozy and quaint brewery restaurant. The beer is excellent and the food was delicious. Even though the entire place was packed on a Saturday night, we received excellent service and didn't have to wait long for our food. Congratulations! The value for money is excellent; we'll be back.

For the second time, I reserved a table several days in advance. For the second time, the reservation wasn't recorded. The staff is irritated and unfriendly and can't understand why people don't want to squeeze in at a fully booked table.

We had reserved by phone, but when we arrived, they couldn't find a reservation. We finally got a seat. The waiter took our order – all without writing anything down. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks; one drink was wrong, and one simply wasn't brought at all. After almost 1.5 hours, the food finally arrived. By then, all the drinks were gone, but no one came to ask if we wanted anything else. The food was very tasty, and the portions were okay. However, the dishes were brought one after the other (there were 8 of us, including a child). By the time the last meal arrived, the first person had almost finished their plate, and the side salads were brought after all the main courses. We waited another 30 minutes for dessert, which was also very tasty, but the service was simply awful. The waiter barely said a word, let alone smiled. And the tables weren't full. It's a shame; we probably won't go there again.

We were there today; we've been there every year for 15 years (except for last year). We were really looking forward to it and it was mainly for this reason that we went on holiday to this area. We were greeted by the taller waiter in a very unfriendly manner. The slightly shorter waiter tried really hard to please everyone, but just one waiter didn't make it any better (sorry for him). We were pressured to order food even though we said we'd call right away. The drinks are highly recommended! They're delicious, the beer is great and the non-alcoholic drinks are delicious too! But the food isn't what it used to be... The boneless knuckle of pork was the size of a quail. The cheese spaetzle was completely underseasoned. The salad tasted like ready-made dressing and only arrived with the spaetzle when we were halfway through our plates. No one even asked us whether we enjoyed our food when the food was cleared away. No please, no thank you. It's a shame; it used to be the best restaurant for miles around, but the price-performance ratio isn't right at all.... Unfortunately, this was the last time we were there.

The service is a complete disaster. You sit and wait and wait and wait! Apparently, an hour-long wait is normal. I definitely won't be coming back!

The rump steak was of very poor quality for the hefty €35 price tag. Three pieces were barely edible, as they were covered in centimeters of fat and tendons. Waiters make advances on guests, asking for their number on the way to the restroom. Too bad! Wouldn't recommend it. It would get 0 stars if it were possible!

I used to go there often as a little kid with my grandparents and parents, and it makes me happy to see that something with such a long tradition is still around, even some 35 years later. We had a side salad and a roast pork with dumplings. Both are highly recommended. I also think it's great that it's open all day, so you can decide when you want to eat.

Whenever we're on vacation in beautiful Oberstaufen, we go to the brewery in Simmerberg two or three times. At the beginning of the week, we happened to be passing through Simmerberg and spontaneously decided to stay for dinner at the brewery. The place was packed, so we expected not to get a seat. The waiter, who presumably runs the service, then told us, in a very boyish and brutally unfriendly manner, that there was still a seat upstairs. Since there were several tables free downstairs, my wife dared to ask if there might be a seat there as well. My wife received a completely unfriendly reply: "Can't you hear correctly? When I say upstairs, I mean upstairs." We then put that answer aside under stress and enjoyed our meal. I had ordered ham hock, but I got a ham hock, which I also like to eat, so I kept it. It was also great. Today, July 11, 2025, was amazing!!!! The waitress basically kicked us out after a very friendly gentleman had assigned us a table that we had previously reserved over the phone. You MUST take the table by the entrance. When I then said we didn't have to do anything, the gentleman said he didn't have a table. IT WAS 5:15 PM!!!! I've never experienced such unfriendly behavior. We will NEVER go to this restaurant again and of course won't recommend it to anyone. I come from a service background myself, and it's always said: good, friendly service can't make good food any better. BAD SERVICE CAN'T BE ANYTHING!!!

Good food, lovely beer garden, and a great atmosphere.

We drove through the small town in the late afternoon. It was a warm summer day, we were hungry, and ended up in the cozy beer garden of the Bräustatt und Taferne restaurant. The friendly waitress showed us a nice, shady table and asked us about our drinks. It was a brewery with a wide variety of beers, so we opted for wine and water. The drinks were served quickly and well-chilled. In the meantime, we had a look at the menu. It was just the kind of menu you'd expect from a local inn: down-to-earth and, above all, very hearty and meat-heavy. There were also vegetarian dishes to choose from. We opted for beef broth with pancakes. A very nice, hearty beef broth with delicious pancakes. That was a good starter. Then I had the onion roast beef with cheese spaetzle. The spaetzle were good, but the meat, although well-cooked, was very, very tough. You could hardly chew it. The onions on top too...all so wonderfully evenly browned and tasting slightly of cardboard. Was this a ready-made product and not homemade? My wife had the filled Maultaschen with braised onions and a small salad. Here too, the Maultaschen were definitely not homemade but an industrial product. The taste was so-so. The accompanying side salad was practically drowned in dressing and wasn't particularly fresh or crisp. Our conclusion: If you fancy a convivial evening with friends over a nice beer in a rustic beer garden, then this is definitely the right place and in good hands. However, if you value good, fresh food, you'd be better off eating at home beforehand.

We keep going back because it's just so cozy, and Maxi makes the best grilled meat. 😀😀😀😀😀😀 Friendly staff, and the chef is, of course, the best. You can even request the food; he cooks amazingly. 👍

We were there for dinner last Sunday. Unfortunately, we sat there for almost an hour without our food arriving. I would have understood if all the seats had been taken, but unfortunately, they weren't. I think the location itself is great, and the beer garden in front is exactly what you'd imagine a beer garden to be. The wild garlic spaetzle had a bitter aftertaste. The cream of asparagus soup, on the other hand, was excellent.

Disastrous on holidays, like in our case on Mother's Day. After ordering, we had to wait 90 minutes for our food. When we asked if we were getting anything today, we said cheekily, "I don't know!" We had 2 small children with us who just wanted spaetzle with sauce - it was not possible for them to be brought before or earlier. You know in advance how many staff you have, so you can't receive guests to the absolute maximum! But the only thing that matters here is profit. In addition, prices that unfortunately do not reflect the quality at all, such as spaghetti drowned in oil (twice, so no slip-up), tasteless grilled meat and thin soup. Only the salad was tasty. We definitely won't be coming back again.

We enjoyed coming to the inn for years because the food used to be good and the ambience with the brewing kettles is of course great. But unfortunately the service has become increasingly unmotivated, even unfriendly, cold and uncaring. Loveless, it's true!!! - The guest, as a necessary nuisance for sales. To a certain extent you can relax in the traditional ambience. There are still enough people coming because of it, you obviously think. The food also used to be surprisingly good, but has become average to below average. That's why we have now decided on other nice restaurants with friendly service. The restaurant used to be full of guests and lively, but in recent years it has become increasingly empty. Then it became echoey and quiet. You felt like you were being brushed off by the staff; you were being processed like a machine, so to speak. Order quickly, eat, done, out. The calculation seems to be based on a maximum stay of two hours. Then you should finally disappear. Before the end of the day, every second is mercilessly taken into account. You should already know whether you can actually finish your drink. Probably poorly paid staff, so only the bare minimum of the freestyle.

We ate there twice during our vacation and absolutely loved it. Great ambience, nice staff, prompt service and really delicious food at fair prices. 2x crusted roast with dumplings, 1x flatbread soup, 1x grill plate and 1x onion roast. We would definitely come again. Ringel family

We had dinner here because it was the only restaurant in the region that was open in the evenings during the week and still offered a warm meal. We ate Knödel Gröschtl and a crusty roast with bread dumplings, both of which were very tasty.

The food was very tasty and plentiful. Good value for money.

The only good thing is the beer. It's a shame about the location.

We weren't able to test the food because the old men's team at lunchtime (perhaps because we brought a person with a disability with us?) was very abusive in their choice of words. According to the motto: it suddenly stinks here. Staff just looked and shrugged. Therefore, we will no longer bother the brewery in Simmern with our money in the future.

The meat from the onion roast was unfortunately a bit small, hot food, the cheese spaetzle were a bit watery, my partner had to wait for his food while mine was already there, the crusty roast could have used a little more crust, Staff could be a bit friendlier and more motivated

Friendly team. The food was impeccable. We had a little mishap. The team reacted really well and immediately. The matter was solved optimally👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. We're still cooking here. Great espresso. All in all a good stay. If we are in the area again, we would be happy to stop by again....

I had dinner in the tavern with 10 people on December 26th, 2024. It was outstanding. The food was really fine. Considering the restaurant was full to capacity, the food was served quickly. The service was very friendly. Amazingly, the waiter remembered all 10 people's orders without writing them down. The orders were carried out exactly. We'll definitely be back.

The food was really good, both vegetarian (here we had goat cheese) and meat were absolutely delicious. The waiters were a bit unfriendly, for example when we came into the restaurant they were more busy with their cell phones. In my opinion, the surcharge for changing bookings (changing the side dish from spaetzle to fries) is not justified at prices over €20.

Great location with tradition. See good beer and great food. Roast roast was very good. Had the Kaiserschmarrn as a follow-up. It took a while and I thought they had forgotten it. We are on vacation in Oberstaufen and couldn't go out to eat because of a sleepy baby. We came across this restaurant while looking for somewhere to order outside of Pizza & Pasta. Ordering via the homepage and paying were super easy, delivery was perfect at the specified time with a very nice delivery person. We ordered pork knuckle and Kaiserschmarrn - the food was excellent and still hot! Perfect! We will be happy to recommend this “delivery service” and will certainly stop by the restaurant in person. After this very, very tasty dinner we would like to say THANK YOU very much!!!

Very nice brewery in a rustic style. In the beer garden there is a climbing frame with a slide for the kids. Food was okay, but really just okay for the price. The service wasn't rude, but it wasn't friendly either. All in all, we simply expected more.

Knuckle was tough, rind not edible. Sauerkraut without taste. Pork fillet fried to death, dry and without seasoning. Cream sauce: cream diluted with water. Miles away from a sauce. Fine dining, you're not serious. Guaranteed never again

We dined here on a Sunday evening. Since we had recently arrived in the Allgäu, I tried to reserve a table for an hour later and 6 people by phone around half past six. The phone was not answered, but a table could be reserved online, including a confirmation email. So we drove to the restaurant. There we were assigned a table by the first service person. Then a second service person, a lady, came and gave us a "lesson" that we should remember for the rest of our lives that you can't expect a table with only half an hour's lead time - even though we confirmed this by email had been assigned by a colleague. Then we felt unwanted for the rest of our stay. The beer was served in a brewery (!) 1cm below calibration. We were only able to get a high chair after repeated requests after a larger group had left. The food was 50:50 (half dishes really not good, others ok/nothing special/corresponding to the price). When paying, we asked the service staff about the unfriendly reception. She was completely unreasonable and called her boss. He, on the other hand, was aware of our reservation and also the special request for a high chair and made it at an acceptable time for them. She then blamed all the frustration on her reservation system, which generally causes annoyance among the staff; the lady's behavior was apparently completely okay. We will certainly not go here again during our next vacation in the immediate vicinity, and we strongly advise any potential guests who value service and friendliness not to do so. The service staff was constantly on their cell phones and sitting at the bar, so the stress level couldn't have been that high to justify this unfriendliness.

We actually wanted to eat here. Since my son has celiac disease, I called ahead to ask about gluten-free options and the risk of cross-contamination. I have never been treated so unfriendly and dismissive on the phone. My question as to what kind of flour the flat cakes (similar to tarte flambée) that are listed on the menu as gluten-free are made from was only answered with the comment that they hadn't just avoided them anyway. The Reiberdatschi are prepared in a deep fryer, in which gluten-containing foods are also fried. At least I received this information. Unfortunately unsuitable for people with celiac disease.

Hier ist alles deutlich schlechter geworden. Wir kommen hier her seit fast 30 Jahren. bis vor Corona war hier alles gut, manchmal konnte man sehr gut essen, manchmal auch nur vernünftig, und vernünftiger Service. Heute ist davon nichts mehr übrig. Die Qualität des Essens ist nur noch mittelmäßig bis darunter, der Service der polnischen Brigade ist eine Katastrophe, insbesondere, was deren Freundlichkeit und Gäste Zuwendung betrifft. Ein Beispiel: bis vor Corona gab es hier im Biergarten zum sehr gut schmeckenden Bier Immer noch eine frische Brezel. Während Corona war das weg, es hieß, das sei wegen Corona. seitdem gibt es überhaupt keine Brezel mehr. Die Frage, warum man das nicht in einem bayerischen Biergarten wieder so macht, wird barsch mit dem Hinweis beantwortet: Anführungszeichen „hier gibt es keine Brezel“. Sehr schade. Gehe nicht mehr hin.

We ate here as a group on vacation. Eat: Unfortunately the dishes were very mixed. The cabbage donuts and Maultaschen were very greasy, so much so that the fat had already collected in a larche on the plate. The crusty roast was very dry and therefore tough. The pork tenderloin was fried to death. The salad, onion roast, pancakes and Kaiserschmarrn were delicious. Service: The service was friendly and the drinks and food came very quickly. Unfortunately one dish was forgotten. But when I asked, it was there within 2 minutes. I was in this inn today and was unfortunately very disappointed. The food was definitely out of the box and tasted rather mediocre. The staff was particularly disappointing: grumpy, unfriendly and very abrupt. Instead of attending to the customers, three employees sat behind the counter looking at their cell phones. The landlord's saying "either noodle soup or nothing" was more than inappropriate and clearly showed the lack of customer orientation. Only the beer was good (which the staff can't do anything about...), but that alone isn't enough to justify a return visit.

Sausage salad was like a soup with lots of onions and. little sausage.

Eigentlich ein schönes Lokal. Aber weder das Essen noch der Service konnten überzeugen. In so einem Lokal könnte die Service Mitarbeiter schon etwas traditionell angezogen sein. Der Kellner in kurzer Jeanshose und TShirt . Die Bedienung ebenfalls im Freizeitlook. Und beide nicht besonders motiviert. Alles nicht sonderlich professionell und das Essen war eher durchschnittlich. Schade! Kaum kommt man über die Grenze nach Österreich läuft die Sache perfekt.

I can't understand the positive reviews. The beer came quickly, but was stale (how poor is that for a brewery restaurant). The Tyrolean Röstl was creative (carrots!?!?) but didn't really burn the taste, Maultaschen were OK but the side salad was carelessly prepared and drowned in cheap (IMHO) ready-made dressing. What can I say, it will be the first and last time here.

Das Essen hatte keine hohe Qualität. Der Salat war nicht vernünftig angerichtet. Das Dressing fällt unter die Kategorie Fertigdressing. Man hat so den Eindruck einer Massenabfertigung. Auch das Bier könnte hier nicht toppen. Es hatte kaum Kohlensäure und schmeckte schal. Wir können das nicht weiterempfehlen

Fries have probably already been warmed up. I can get better prices at every motorway service station. Prices are totally exaggerated. It's better to go 100 m further into the Krone and you'll get something delicious at reasonable prices. First port of call for many years. Not visited for the first time this year. Unfortunately the overall atmosphere has diminished. Prices have risen sharply, attention to detail has decreased and the beer magazine/map has important elements that are now missing. Overall, certainly not bad, but a few years ago it was unbeatable there. Food and service were absolutely top. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it has lost something.

We stopped because in fact the tavern offered to sleep in their parking lot with the van in exchange for a drink. In fact, we ate there and discovered a very nice place. The really cool setting, the beer brewed on site, and very good typical dishes with unbeatable value for money. Maybe a menu in English or French for tourists like us who are very bad in German, but hey, we made arrangements with Google. I highly recommend 😉

But the service was quick and organized a table for us. The food: Absolutely more than perfect for the prices. Whether vegetarian or meat. Everything was beautifully presented, tasted great and there was more than enough on the plate. The service, not super friendly but despite the stress it was still friendly, quick and accommodating. I had visitors from Hesse and thought I would surprise my guests with something very special. This restaurant in Simmerberg was an absolute failure and unfortunately a big disappointment. The pork knuckle was undercooked and the staff was anything but friendly and attentive. Really sad because the location itself is actually quite nice.

Waren zum Mittagessen dort . Sehr tolles Ambiente , rustikal und mit Blick auf Braukessel . Essen war geschmacklich gut , nur war beim Krustenbraten die Kruste leider labbrig statt knusprig . Essenpreise etwas über dem Durchschnitt, Getränkepreise ok . Biergarten lädt im Sommer zum verweilen ein .

Die Begrüßung des Personals könnte freundlicher und herzlicher sein. Wirklich Willkommen haben wir uns nicht gefühlt. Das Essen (Schweinefiletspitzen mit Pfifferlingen und Spätzle) hat gut geschmeckt und die Portionen waren ausreichend groß. Die unterschiedlichen Biere haben uns auch geschmeckt. Das Ambiente ist passend für ein Brauhaus und hat uns gut gefallen. Wir würden wiederkommen.
