Yesterday we were in the restaurant again. But unfortunately we had to experience our personal disaster. We ordered, among other things, the onion roast medium medium. One was fine, the other three were almost 'alive'. So let it go back. 2 of them were fine. My daughter was particularly unlucky, the meat was still bloody, the next time too, the fourth piece (very thin) was done. It wasn't until the fifth time that it was okay. The waitresses tried very hard and apologized profusely. But actually something like that shouldn't happen.

We were there after a visit to Ulm. The beer and ambience were outstanding, but unfortunately the food was just average. The cheese spaetzle is actually a top dish for the region, super disappointing. The service had everything under control and was funny. With a dignified group of gentlemen, I'd rather not go back with the family. You can park your electric car directly opposite the shop, which means one star more.

Very harmonious overall impression! 😍 An absolute must-visit for fans of southern German beer culture! 👍 Anyone who knows the brewery's beer knows what to expect. Many classic dishes are flavored with this beer, which rounds off the culinary experience. The main course and dessert were absolutely fantastic! I can especially recommend the braised pork cheeks to everyone. 😋 Only the starter was a bit disappointing. 🤔 Me and my companion are very sure that the Maultaschen are standard supermarket goods. 👎 Here it would certainly be possible to get these from a regional butcher or to make them yourself. In our opinion, that would fit the concept better. 💡

Nice rustic brewery with delicious food.

Unfortunately the entrance to the shop is locked. You now have to go through the main entrance, down the stairs, drag a box back up the stairs, pay and then carry it to the car. The beer can't be that good to take on that.

Super good food and delicious mountain beer. The service is very accommodating.

Delicious food, everything homemade, you can see and taste it! From the French fries to the onion roast, everything is as it should be. Many star restaurants cannot keep up. Big compliment to the kitchen! The only criticism is the potato salad and the beef broth. The first one lacked a bit of spice and acidity; the broth should have been boiled for a few more hours for an even more intense taste. The waitresses were all very friendly and accommodating. A big thank you here too! Despite the potato salad/broth 5 out of 5, this is how homemade Swabian food has to taste! :-)

The food was lukewarm. We observed how 2 other tables also sent their food back to be warmed up. The schnitzel and cordon bleu with fries were not freshly made. It was most likely made before and simply kept warm, which unfortunately lost some of its quality and warmth. It's a shame about the great location. Service was friendly. The beer is also good, but it is not recommended for eating out.

The service was extremely friendly, we were greeted extremely friendly as soon as we walked in and the “quick coffee” beforehand took less than 3 minutes. It worked like clockwork. All in all it was a very pleasant stay, very friendly staff, very good food and excellent beer. We'll definitely be back!!!

Amazing experience for the taste of German Swabian food and excellent beer! We got lucky to make it just in time for the last weekend of their seasonal beer- Berg Herbstgold! The interior is superb as well- starting from the door handles and end with the chandelier!

Conclusion: Well suited for drinking. Not for eating. The ambience is rustic and invites you to feel good. However, I find the prices of the food quite outrageous in relation to the portion sizes: just under 16 euros for a few potatoes, a few chunks of vegetables and tomato sauce doesn't make sense to me. Regional or not. Especially since the taste wasn't so convincing that I thought the price was justified: it tasted rather salty, like frozen vegetables with canned tomato sauce. Too bad. The service was generally good. However, we were thrown out without warning: While one of our group was still sitting on his drink and the rest of us were considering ordering again, we were made aware that the table was needed. When asked when, they said, “It's best to do it immediately. The others are already there.” We were not offered an alternative, such as moving to another table. Here I would have liked it to have been clearly communicated to us from the outset that the table would be reserved from a certain time onwards. Or that we would have been notified 20-30 minutes before the next reservation was due. Unfortunately, I was too surprised to notice it right away. And yes, we had a reservation and weren't there just by chance.

We were there with a reservation with 18 people. Unfortunately, the very friendly service was overwhelmed. The restaurant was full and there was a lot of incorrect and incomplete service. The food was very disappointing. The Flädlesuppe had no taste, the braised beef was tough as leather. A cordon bleue was almost raw and was returned. The sauces were all completely tasteless. Almost everyone added more salt. The meat on the castles (pork loin steaks???) was tough and could only be eaten with a knife and fork. Unfortunately, the spaetzle had nothing in common with fresh and homemade spaetzle, at best they were mediocre goods from the wholesaler. Even when paying, one of the three tables we were divided into was forgotten. The great ambience of the brewery alone was convincing and makes you want to visit again.

Wir hatten einen Tisch vor reserviert, war auch gut. Wir hatten Flädlesuppe, Zwiebelrostbraten, Gulasch und Salat. Das Essen war sehr gut, wurde heiß serviert, obwohl sehr viele Gäste da waren war das Essen recht schnell da, wir hatten uns auf eine längere Wartezeit eingestellt. Die Preise waren für die Qualität und Regionalität der Produkte in Ordnung.

In short - warmed food. This wasn't what we had imagined. A pork knuckle was ordered (refreshingly fried according to the menu) and it was served within 10 minutes. Sure, the waiting time for a freshly grilled knuckle is far longer, but this knuckle was only warmed, the crust was not crust but rubber. Changing the order from potato salad to a bread dumpling was also charged extra. The 2nd meal ordered was a Cordon Bleu. Definitely warmed, dry, bland, the breading didn't look appetizing. I would guess microwave. We were then offered an espresso on the house which we accepted. Definitely not a recommendation!

Meine Frau und ich kommen jedes Jahr 2-3 mal aus Magstadt in Gasthaus. Es hat uns bis jetzt immer gefallen. Der Service ist sehr gut. Sehr nett unf hilfsbereit usw. Meisten esse ich eine Schweinshaxe , die man nicht oft in Gasthäuser bekommt . Diese Schweinshaxe war bis jetzt immer sehr gut , aber dieses Mal muss ich sagen war ich enttäuscht. Vom Geschmack sehr gut , aber wenn ich eine Schweinshaxe esse , da hätte man roch gerne eine knusprige grosse Hautkruste . Leider war das zum zweiten Mal nicht der Fall . Ich hoffe , wenn wir beim nächsten Besuch Ihres Gasthauses bei der Schweinshaxe so eine knusprige grosse Haut bekommen , ansonsten können wir uns dann den weiten Weg dparen . Wie immer war das Essen hervorragend und das Ambiente auch mit Kind sehr angenehm. Negativ überrascht hat uns dieses Mal leider der Service. Nachdem man mehrfach nach einem Kinderstuhl gefragt hat, wurde dieser leider nie gebracht, so dass wir diesen selbst ausfindig und holen mussten. Ebenfalls wurde das schmutzige Geschirr nach dem Essen fast 45 Minuten nicht abgeräumt und nach erfolgter Bitte, diese doch bitte abzuräumen, wurde man ermahnt das Geschirr beim nächsten mal nicht zu stapeln. Also hätten wir dieser Ansicht nach 45 Minuten bei warmen Temperaturen an einem vollgestellten Tisch mit leeren Tellern sitzen sollen. Fanden wir leider ziemlich unangebracht.

Perversion of the idea of ​​a GUEST house We came by bike from the Danube Cycle Path on a rainy day with bad weather and had taken a detour specifically to take a break there. The house was very full and we were told there was no space left inside. So far so good and perhaps understandable. However, when I asked if we could sit directly next to the entrance in the outdoor area under the eaves, this was refused despite the fact that there was outside seating and without any further explanation. Despite the long tradition that people are so proud of, the basic idea of ​​an inn seems to have been completely lost. We have been there several times. After this experience we will definitely never come back. Addendum: All the doors to the outside area were wide open (even though it was raining, it was at least 25 degrees outside). The requested seats were right next to the exit in the roof area, perhaps 2m as the crow flies from the nearest occupied seat in the indoor area. Care for the employees is with all due respect, but the argument is not really convincing. I imagine that the service lady I asked was also very uncomfortable giving me this information from her shift manager, who she had to ask for permission. In my opinion, she would have had no problem serving us.

Fischgerichte- das ist ein schlechter Witz! Hälfte normale Portion, im normalen fall auch wenn ist das ein Filet, das soll vielleicht geschrieben werden, dass ist NUR die hälfte ein kleines Fisch ist! Wenn da keine Kartoffeln sind, gehe ich wirklich hungrig aus ! Bier wieder klasse!

Too bad. I could charge in the interior on the checkout counter to the left of the counter. But space is needed to work. Understandable. The first young waiter almost throws the battery off the counter. It costs 800 euros, that would be too risky for me. So I'm dismantling again. The other guests are watching me. I feel like an alien. Battery installed back uncharged. Now a beer. Even when we politely complain by raising our hands and making eye contact, we are actively ignored. I'm hungry and thirsty. So we pack up and drive to the hotel restaurant not far away. There we got a mountain of beer and good food. Sorry, but I won't be going to the Wirtschaft Berg brewery anymore. 2 hours on the bike and 2 hours back. Unfortunately there is no longer any reason for this. Update August 23: great ambience, great beer. You don't necessarily have to come for the food. Sausage salad in a Weck jar is not a highlight, it pulls strings when eating. The bratwursts with potato salad are good. 🤪 Strangely enough, the sockets on the terrace for e-bikes are switched off during the day. Wir haben zu 2. kurzfristig einen Tisch reserviert weil wir nicht genau einschätzen konnten wann wir mit dem Fahrrad ankommen. Hat genau gepasst, alles war bestens, Freundlich und Preis-Leistung passt absolut Top!!👍🏻

Unfortunately, it is completely incomprehensible why the reviews are so good (please look at the review as a whole). We had guests who would like to enjoy the typical Swabian cuisine. We come from a wider area and have never been here ourselves. Since not much is open on a Monday, we took the opportunity to finally test it out (also because of its reputation). My dish (which is also the most expensive as far as I've seen) was the onion roast medium fried for €27.90. The meat arrived well cooked, but was surprisingly still fairly tender, but that shouldn't happen with a "flagship" and this price - I saved myself from making a complaint (also due to the lack of service). The fried onions that came with it were sticky and without any crunch (like leaving the container of fried onions open for a week). Maybe you put the onions in a steamer to keep them warm and they absorbed moisture (which would also explain the doneness of the meat). The sauce for the onion roast was tasteless, watery, without body and simply suitable for a dish like this - with a meal like this the dish lives from the “boom” of the sauce and in my case had no recognition value as a good dish from Swabian cuisine! I'll mention the spaetzle to my dish at the end, because out of 6 people, five of us had spaetzle dishes. Consistent opinion: they were absolutely nothing! I myself would say that these were not homemade and if they were, then the chef has mastered the art of being able to conjure up something homemade as a ready meal. At least they were prepared - some of them stuck together in lumps, had no bite and they never saw any salt. They were simply tasteless (one statement from 5 people can't be wrong). The remaining dishes were also not convincing and do not recommend another visit. At the end of the service (on my initiative) that she should please say hello to the kitchen and say that this was an absolute failure. The only statement was: “I’m sorry!” Without asking what was wrong, she left - you can't improve like that and unfortunately you have to report what was wrong in this way, which is a shame! There is rarely a moment where there is no tip, but this was one of those moments. My guess for all the good reviews is that there is simply a lot of through traffic from bicycle groups and the crowd (for a quick drink and quick service) quickly gives good reviews. Unfortunately for me/us it was the worst experience of Swabian cuisine we have ever had, we won't be coming back and definitely don't recommend it! Our visit was on August 12, 2024

Wir lieben die Brauereigaststätte und die Biere von Berg sind einfach unsere Lieblingsbiere. Jedoch ist das Essen (ausser die Haxe) höchstens zufriedenstellend. Die Käsespätzle waren eine reiner Mehlpapp. Von Käse nichts zu schmecken.
