I went to this restaurant only because of rave reviews on the Internet. But I wouldn’t say so loudly that this is the best restaurant in Rostock, as they wrote in the reviews. The restaurant is pretty average. The restaurant has tables inside and outside, but we sat inside. We booked a table in advance; at the time we arrived, only the table to our left was occupied. But when our neighbors left us, a noisy company of 8-10 people came and sat behind me and began talking and laughing loudly. We kindly asked the waiter to move us to another table, but she said that this was impossible, although there were free tables. So about food, my friend ate less than half a serving of pasta and didn’t eat the rest, he said it didn’t taste good to him. I ate fish and potatoes and cucumber salad, this dish was much tastier than the pasta, but I also didn’t finish much. We liked the orange juice and beer. I think the waiter noticed that we didn’t like the food, because we quickly asked for the bill, but we arrived only recently and the plates were left with food. For everything in the photo we paid 57 euros, we left the waiter 60 euros and left the restaurant. I was pleased with the toilet, it’s quite clean and there is deodorant, hand cream, toothpicks, hairspray, in general you might like everything. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible and there is no parking. To summarize, I can say that it was not too bad, but it was not something special, what I expected here from the reviews of customers of this restaurant. My rating is 3 stars, the food, the atmosphere in the restaurant and the feeling of my comfort and enjoyment. Whether to come here or not, the choice is yours☺️

Dear Borwin team, I was with you yesterday and it was the first time I ate alone and I'll be honest, I was a little afraid of it before. I even had my book and headphones with me, but the moment I was brought to the table I felt so comfortable. I was also given the tip to sit on the other side of the table so I could look out. There is currently scaffolding erected on the road leading to the water, but I could still see the sunset glittering on the water! Little things like this show that the service is top - here it is important that you want to be served individually and closely. I was served so kindly and friendly that you could just relax. The atmosphere was so cozy and you could always discover something new when you looked around. Really really a nice restaurant! And when the food came, I actually couldn't stop smiling - on the one hand because I was proud of myself for eating alone and on the other hand because the food was damn good. The homemade pesto, which was served with the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, was simply perfect. I had the mixed fish with fried potatoes and a mixed salad. The dressing for the salad was so delicious that I will probably try to make it at home 😂 The fish was seasoned just right, and everything in general was just done just right. And then the finale with a lemon tart with lemon ice cream and meringue - heavenly. In general, the volume level was absolutely fine - there was very quiet music in the background, the other tables seemed to be able to have a great conversation and I could just enjoy the ambience without getting bored. Thank you very much for this evening, I recommended you directly to my family if they ever make it to Rostock. You made my two-day vacation absolutely perfect!

Spontaneous visit after the Christmas market! Great choice, but only thanks to the mixed bedside table top. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, at least at the beginning. Interest in our table noticeably waned. Unfortunately, my first order didn't taste good because only 5 components were named on the menu. Great combo, great anticipation! The implementation looked super cute, but there were a total of 13 components on the plate, many of which are not to everyone's taste. I then ordered the dessert platter. It saved the evening and we would definitely come back.

The Borwin was recommended by a friend. Here the kitchen knows something about fish and so does the service staff. She recommended me to Loup der Mer. A perfect choice. The dessert with small tapas variations was also incredibly tasty. Price and performance are totally right here!

We had a fish dinner at Borwin on Good Friday and were thrilled. We had the mixed fish fillet platter with fried potatoes and side salad (photo) as well as the sea bass. All dishes were extremely tasty and the service was super friendly. The furnishings are nice, you immediately feel at home. We had a nice window seat with a view of the harbor. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend the restaurant.

What a restaurant, so authentic, so atmospheric, the service nice and professional... and the food... it was really delicious. Unfortunately I was too hungry to take pictures, but I highly recommend eating there.

Borwin – harbor restaurant. 13 people, Saturday evening, 6:15 p.m. The store is packed, as always. As soon as you enter, you can feel the dense atmosphere - lively, maritime, down-to-earth, upscale. The service operates with efficiency, vigilant, friendly and attentive. No gesture goes unnoticed. No demand that goes unnoticed. Despite the rush, the welcome remains warm, almost familiar. The team masters the challenge without rushing - you feel welcome, not dismissed. The food? Excellent craftsmanship. The Wiener Schnitzel: tender as butter, fried to perfection, accompanied by crunchy asparagus and a hollandaise that can be considered a prime example in terms of texture and taste. Goat cheese? A masterpiece. Delicate, aromatic, with precisely balanced spice - honest cuisine with quality, taste with origin. Without exception, eleven out of thirteen dishes were immediately convincing. However, with two guests there was an annoying rush: carelessly prepared, taste below average, no depth, no care. The affected guests – experienced, critical, and regular travelers to fine dining establishments – recognized the deviation immediately. The exchange was fair, the staff made an honest effort, the kitchen oversight was recognized and corrected. But the aftertaste remains: here, quantity was prioritized over quality in the short term - a risk that no top company should take. Because if excellence is the goal, no portion should leave the pass without love. It is understandable that a full hut creates pressure. But quality doesn't happen in a sprint. What essentially makes Borwin great – honest, ambitious cuisine with a Hanseatic heart – must not be sacrificed to mass pressure. Nobody demands perfection in the piece. But if the kitchen prioritizes speed over taste, you risk falling from restaurant to mere feeding station. And that's exactly what you don't want here. Because this house deserves more. Our conclusion? Great performance, powerful appearance, excellent food in the overwhelming majority - but with room for improvement when there are peak crowds. Anyone who calls for such prices does not have to justify them, but rather live them. The guests like to wait. Good things take time. And Borwin has everything to make the extra minute worth it. Eleven satisfied connoisseurs speak a clear language. And someone who expected more urges consistency. An evening full of culinary power, with small cracks in the facade - but the foundation is supporting. And how.

Everything I experienced there was simply perfect. The service is friendly, the food tastes really delicious and the place has a maritime charm. When you come in you are greeted with a smile and shown straight to the table. The staff are charismatic, the environment is fabulous. I recommend the restaurant to anyone who loves the harbor.

Restaurant Review: Great Food, But Not Accessible The restaurant offers a diverse and interesting menu, with delicious food and generous portions. However, service was a bit slow, though the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. There are stairs at the entrance, and the restrooms are on the second floor with difficult access. Overall, a great dining experience—unless accessibility is a concern.

The seafood platter was the biggest highlight, with a variety of seafood that was delicious together. The turbot risotto was also very good, the fish was tender and juicy. The waiter/ress was with a smile and helped us delay our arrival. Would recommend to everyone, similar to Rostock.

The first time I was very satisfied. I had a dish from the fish menu with two side dishes of my choice and I was very satisfied. The second time I was disappointed. The pasta surf and turf consisted of 2 shrimps in a curry sauce that was too firm but tasted good and some fillet flakes that were visible under the microscope. Which I can't recognize as fillet tips. Either way, the price-performance ratio isn't right here. Mam can eat well there with some dishes, but the PL ratio isn't right.

Definitely in the top 5 of our favorite restaurants in Rostock - even though it was only our first time there. Great, very friendly service, extremely tasty food at reasonable prices with great quality. Children are very welcome and this is perhaps the best menu for children that I have seen so far at very family-friendly prices and great quality. Thank you for the wonderful experience, we will come back more often now 😊

The Boavin restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere and very good service. The fish was excellent, as was the wine and dessert. Unfortunately, the tomato salad was far too cold, which greatly affected the enjoyment. In response to my complaint, a cucumber salad was brought to me as a replacement without asking, which I found to be inappropriate. Unfortunately there was no apology. Overall it was ok, but a second visit is unlikely.

Super tasty and fresh; I really didn't think salmon and teriyaki would go so well together.👍 Condition tried, but a little too often for me 😅 Be sure to reserve seats - I didn't think so many people would show up after 5 p.m. 🙈

Based on the recommendation and the positive reviews, we planned our Valentine's Day at Borwin. The restaurant makes a very good impression. Lots of cozy seating areas and the menu promises a pleasant evening. Unfortunately we were given a table where we heard deafening noise from the kitchen. Working at the counter was also extremely loud, so we had to keep interrupting our conversation. It was also extremely annoying that the audience and the service were walking past us extremely closely behind us. The light at the table itself was very dark, which made it difficult for me to read the menu. You would have to think about whether you want to do that to your guests. The service was very friendly and helpful. To eat yourself. The fish was excellent. Only the side dishes didn't taste great. Sticky fried potatoes with no particular taste. Vegetables partly bitter and with a sauce? poured over it which tasted like nothing. The rice with mushrooms was also very bland. The presentation of the dish on the plate was good.

Very rustic restaurant right at the Rostock harbor. We made a reservation in advance by phone because we were traveling with a dog, but that wasn't a problem and the lady on the phone was extremely nice. Cozy atmosphere with lots to look at. The waitress was very attentive and even brought our dog some water. The menu has a wide selection, primarily fish. We had oysters and scallops as starters. Unfortunately my wine was forgotten, but after asking, it came immediately. The starter was excellent and is highly recommended. We had to wait quite a long time for our main course and were a bit disappointed as the Surf & Turf was “just” a lobster tail which didn’t contain much meat. At a price of €49 we would have expected a little more but there was nothing wrong with the taste! Only that the portion was a bit small in our opinion. In the case of the “Surf & Turf” pasta, I would say that the meat was not fillet meat, because it was simply too “tough” to bite. In summary, this restaurant is really a recommendation because we definitely enjoyed it, even if it didn't meet all of our expectations.

Unfortunately, the service (and a little bit of the food) was extremely poor. The service has now become very flat with the "head waitress" who comes across as extremely artificial and fake. The “boss” shouts at the employees/colleagues and is totally acting up. We miss Gunnar! The service was still served with heart.

The inconspicuous famous shop on the river bank has relatively high meal prices, but the business is still very good. The mixed seafood platter, salmon pasta, and risotto are delicious, but the curry pasta is a pity that it is too sweet.

We were here once 2 years ago and again today. The food here still tastes as great as last time and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. If you are in Rostock, a visit to the Borwin harbor restaurant is a must, at least for us.

So far everything was fine...unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the food, even though the shop was quite empty. Price-performance doesn't really fit...The restaurant is also clean, but there is room for improvement...cutlery was dirty and the glasses could have been clearer.

We interrupted our return journey by train from Stralsund to Berlin in Rostock for 3 hours to eat here. Arrived at the restaurant at 3:50 p.m. and our anticipation was suddenly dampened - on the folding board in front of the entrance it says "kitchen break from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m." The friendly waitress specifically asked in the kitchen whether anything else would be possible. Unfortunately no, was the answer. It's a shame, so we had to make do with a steakhouse chain nearby. What's particularly annoying for us, however, is that Google shows continuous opening times from 12:00 - 0:00 on this page.

Sehr gemütliches Ambiente, sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienung, sehr gutes Speisen- und Getränkeangebot auf hohem Niveau! Es ist immer wieder ein tolles Erlebnis. Das Borwin ist ein hervorragendes Restaurant mit einer Vielzahl von super leckeren Fischgerichten. Fleischgerichte findet man ebenfalls auf der Karte. Die Damen und Herren im Service sind sehr freundlich und immer aufmerksam. Im Borwin fühlt man sich als sehr wohl und erlebt einen schönen Abend.

Nach langer Abstinenz wegen eines enttäuschten Besuchs im Borwin eine erneute Chance gegeben. Wir wurden sehr angenehm überrascht. Die Begrüßung war herzlich, uns wurde das Service- Personal vorgestellt. Getränke und Speisen kamen im angemessenen Zeitraum, Fisch war auf den Punkt gegart, Beilagen ( Stampfkartoffeln und Bohnen) frisch zubereitet, angenehm wenig gewürzt und sehr reichlich. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, unaufdringlich und freundlich. Ambiente zum Wohlfühlen und Entspannen. Danke, das Team arbeitet auf einem hohen Niveau. Wir werden wieder öfter dieses Restaurant besuchen.

Whenever we are in Rostock, Borwin is a must for us. We love it there. The service is great, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is cozy, great view of the water, a double pleasure on the terrace, especially in summer. Price performance is absolutely right here. A nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service at the Rostock marina. We had fish soup, zander and loup de mer with side dishes, which were recommended by the house Pinot Blanc from Burgenland. The fish soup was pleasingly deep in flavor and creamy on the tongue - a perfect starter on cold days. While the pike perch came out of the kitchen a bit dry and tough and the fried potatoes weren't particularly crispy, loup de mer was exquisitely prepared.

The loup de mer was perfectly cooked, with a delicate, flaky texture and a subtle, slightly sweet flavor that was simply delightful. The crispy skin added a satisfying contrast, seasoned just enough to bring out the fish’s natural taste without overpowering it. Paired with the rosemary potatoes, which were golden and aromatic, this dish struck an ideal balance. The rosemary infused the potatoes with a savory depth that complemented the fish beautifully.

Wir waren wieder mal im Borwin und es ist immer noch empfehlenswert. Das Essen war super; wir hatten - wie immer - nichts auszusetzen.

Auch diesmal vom Eintreffen bis zum Verlassen des Restaurants waren wir sehr zufrieden. Freundlich am Empfang und bei der Bestellung, die Speisen waren frisch zubereitet und ließen keine Wünsche offen. Dankeschön für einen gelungenen Abend

Very nice restaurant. You have to experience it. Food was very tasty. However, the fish portion in the Baltic Sea menu was for the tooth. For the price the zander is really small ‼️but tastes very good. The cod with mustard sauce was delicious and the portion was also OK. But a lot of money for almost 26 euros. The dish is cheaper in Ribnitz in der Zees. The Aperol Spritz for 11.90 euros is also a hit. Elsewhere you can get it for 7.90 euros... Well, here you're probably paying for Rostock as the location. It worked with a voucher 😉. But to be fair, you have to say it's a cute restaurant with delicious, upscale food. The staff is super nice and really cares about the well-being of the guests. The atmosphere is also really good.

Wir haben hier richtig lecker gegessen. Frischer Fisch (Steinbeißer und Kabeljau) mit sehr leckeren Beilagen nach Wahl. Vorab hatten wir sehr leckere Suppen. Vom Haus gab es vorab noch leckeres Brot mit Ajoli und Olivenöl, der richtig lecker war. Wir haben gleich eine Flasche gekauft. Die Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Ein tolles Restaurant direkt am Wasser. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder,. Auch für Vegetarier gut geeignet.
