The beer was stale, and we were even lectured on how beer should taste and how long it should take to pour. Since we were sitting next to the bar, we watched as our beers sat on the counter for 10 minutes before being poured from glass to glass. The steaks were all practically raw, had to be sent back, and in the end, the side dishes were cold. The waiter wasn't particularly friendly about it. For the price, I expect something different. This Block House has gone downhill significantly. Absolutely disappointing!

Delicious food as usual, great meat dishes, salads, vegetarian options too, soups... I always enjoy going there; the staff are very attentive, friendly, and quick.

We were there on a very busy evening, but the service was very quick. Unfortunately, the steak was still very raw. However, we were able to send it back and received it cooked perfectly.

December 30, 2025 Great food, great staff, but too many dogs! One dog was barking nonstop and its owner thought it was funny. Leave your dogs at home for two hours; it all worked before Corona. Happy New Year 2026 to everyone!

This is basically a simple restaurant. It looks like a large, high-end restaurant with high prices. Another issue: the way you get your meat is quite interesting. Orders are placed, and each customer tells the waiter how they want it prepared. But when the orders arrive at the table, you're usually asked what you ordered. If you raise your hand and reply, "I've ordered," the waiter hands you one of the plates he's holding. The waiter doesn't seem to care how the food is prepared. The waiter carries four plates, but the interesting thing is that he holds two plates in one hand and two in the other. While serving, the waiter's fingers never leave the plates. Simple presentations sometimes detract from the quality. Furthermore, it's quite surprising that the waiters interfere in table conversations that are none of their business. ' ... The menu states that Mr. Rumpsteak is raw meat, 250 grams net, but after cooking it was probably around 80 grams. I'm mistaken, but looking at the size of the meat, it turns out it's not 250 grams. I'm sorry, but those are the facts. December 11, 2025 I wrote a review 11 months ago. I had to go again today. A waitress, with messy hair in a bun, looked like she'd been working all day and immediately gave off negative energy. It wasn't about her hair, of course, but her attitude was very unpleasant. It was as if she was asking, "Why did you even come here?" It was my fault; I'd forgotten my glasses. I barely managed to look at the burger menu because my review from last year about the meat still stands. This time I wanted to try a burger. There's a burger called "New York." I specified my preference during ordering, but very politely asked for no cheese. The waitress with the bun laughed and said, "This won't do for you" (I couldn't even understand her name because she was mumbling her words), then said something I did understand about the burger and walked past me. I wasn't ashamed of myself, but I was very embarrassed for her. If you're bored, just ask for permission and leave. The menu arrived: an undercooked patty, some fries, and a slice of toasted bread. I took a single bite of the patty. I've never eaten such an undercooked and tasteless patty before. The menu plate was so simply prepared, it didn't even have a visual element, as if they were saying, "Eat and leave." (Mise en Place) is an art, but those seeking art shouldn't expect it at this restaurant, because they operate on a "put the plate, fill it, and send it away" system. I hope I never have to go to this restaurant again. I'm sorry, but you're not good.

I met a colleague there for lunch. Unfortunately, only one of the two weekly specials was left, and for around €15, it was extremely meager... two very small turkey steaks and overcooked vegetables. It wasn't even remotely filling. We also found the service rather unfriendly. What a shame... Block House used to be so good 😞 I'll definitely go somewhere else for lunch in the future. Even the steaks were rather expensive now.

We'll never go there again. My husband and I wanted to share a salad appetizer, but then this woman, who claims to be the branch manager, comes up and yells at my husband, whom I've been married to for 14 years and together for 26, and asks if it's okay. Job failed!

As always, the tenderloin was delicious. The pepper sauce has noticeably declined in both flavor and quantity. The prices are approaching the point of being exorbitant.

We've been dining there on and off for years. We're always greeted and served warmly. No matter what we order, it always tastes fantastic. It's a bit more expensive, of course, but the quality speaks for itself. The staff are all consistently very friendly.

A very friendly and attentive service team. I'm an experienced steak eater with a good understanding of grilling and a very discerning palate. On the server's recommendation, I ordered the prime ribeye from the chalkboard menu, and I must say I was absolutely thrilled. A crispy crust and incredibly tender meat. The flavor was uniquely aromatic. Despite varying thicknesses, the steak was grilled to a perfect medium. I wholeheartedly recommend both the meat and the fantastic service team. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely inaccessible reception. We waited in the rain for 10 minutes, no one offered to let us in, not even with someone walking around... The gate was locked with four locks! Unpleasant... what a shame. No saddle salt or Tabasco with tomato juice. 🫩

I was very disappointed with my visit to Block House Ahrensburg. We were greeted rudely upon arrival – not a smile, not even a warm welcome. We felt more like an intruder than a welcome guest. The food was okay, but the unfriendly greeting and the overall lackluster service severely dampened the atmosphere. It's a shame, because I'm used to a completely different standard from Block House. I hope the team takes this criticism to heart, because a friendlier approach would make the visit much more pleasant.

At Block House, you always know what you're getting when it comes to food: good meat, but now also many delicious vegetarian dishes. The first-class staff at this branch deserves special mention! No matter who you "meet," they're always friendly, attentive, and competent—definitely a factor in choosing Block House!

We were there for the first time yesterday. Once and never again. We were shown to our seats, and after 15 minutes we were finally able to order a drink. Our food was finally served, and it was very loud, and the service was, well, okay... I can't have only three waitresses running around on a Saturday night without anyone coming to me. Staff shortages. Unfortunately, it was a waste of money for nothing.

I've really enjoyed eating here for years and am very satisfied with the service from all the wonderful staff, but the rising prices and the ever-shrinking portions are putting me off eating here in the future. It just doesn't work anymore.

This is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat. The day we were there, the staff weren't in a good mood. Everything was a bit over the top. The food at Block House is always good. That's why we go there sometimes.

We were there on August 28, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. We ordered turkey breast steaks and the Classic Block Burger. Both were a disgrace. The three turkey breast steaks were an absolute joke; they couldn't have served them any smaller, and that for €17 (they couldn't have sold them as a children's plate either). Now, about the Classic Block Burger: If I order a burger, and for €17, I expect a burger and not a grilled meatball with a tiny dollop of coleslaw and a small baked potato. When I asked, I was told that's the way it should be. I still feel ripped off!! And when I paid and didn't tip for the service (which I usually do), the server became unfriendly. For everything, including drinks, we paid €43.50. Conclusion: Be careful in this place and don't get ripped off!!!

Always super pleasant, the service is courteous and always up for a laugh. I got a seat straight away, and of course, my dog was allowed to lie at the table with me.

I am a tourist and this was my first time visiting Block House, and I was initially very excited to try the food. When we arrived, a very polite gentleman kindly directed us to a suitable table, which we appreciated. However, the experience with the waiter was disappointing. He didn’t communicate well with us and acted as if we were already familiar with the menu. His attitude came across as quite rude. We also ordered a specific type of potato, which he marked down, but served a different one and when we drew his attention to our order , he didn’t apologize but said I charge you extra (this is not acceptable for such a restaurant) yet we didn’t argue and accepted to pay extra for what we wished to eat. Honestly, the food was delicious, and we did enjoy that part. But the service (by this specific waiter) left a very negative impression. It felt discriminatory that’s something I can’t overlook. I hope by the next time I’ll be served by other waiters.

This visit was such a disappointing, to the point where I would say, avoid this restaurant now. Every time I visit Germany, my mum and I normally have a nice time here in this restaurant, we know many of the waiters. She used to love coming here for a meal with my now deceased father. But, by golly, we were met with an extremely aggressive man as the front of house (he refused to give me his name, I wonder why!?) who gave me so much lip simply because my elderly mother (84 yrs old) dared to walk past him without waiting to be shown her table. She doesn't know about restaurant etiquette and having to wait to be shown a table, she walked past him to one she could see that was free. He was standoffish, outright rude. Had it been for me we would have taken ourselves elsewhere. Service is at least 50% of a good impression. He should not work in the service industry because service is definitely not his strong suit. Mum and I have eaten here maybe 20 times in the last year but we'll go to Volksdorf in the future. What a let down.

Food poisoning - We were at the Block House Ahrensburg last Tuesday evening. It was quite crowded and the food took a correspondingly long time to arrive, but the service was exceptionally friendly. When the food was served, I noticed a strange, slightly foul odor. I didn't say anything else, as I was the only one who noticed it so strongly, and it was also crowded and hectic. Besides, I wasn't expecting a food hygiene problem in a restaurant like this, which we've been going to for years, and blamed it on the crowded room. We now know: The smell probably came from my husband's rib-eye steak (medium). He had already noticed a slightly bitter taste while eating, but trusted that the food was being prepared properly. Then, tonight, I woke up and realized: severe stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting all night long, and chills. We were about to go to the emergency room. Since we've eaten exactly the same vegan, home-cooked meal up until today, that's a pretty clear sign that the beef really wasn't up to scratch. We're really disappointed and angry – something like that might be to be expected at a takeaway, but certainly not in an upscale restaurant where a steak costs almost €30. Since I noticed the smell while it was cooking, it should have been obvious during preparation that the meat was spoiled. This shouldn't happen. We certainly won't be coming here again and have learned to trust our senses, no matter how fancy the restaurant claims to be.

We have really enjoyed our last few times here with our three children. We even drove here from Hamburg because of the good service and didn't go to the Block House in Hamburg. Today everything was ruined in one evening. There was no longer a large steak, the wrong dressing, the wrong side dish and the steak we ordered wasn't cooked to the right level. What a change in personnel like this can do... We'll go somewhere else next time.

We went here for dinner today with our two children (3+5). First of all, we were greeted more than lovingly by Can at the bar. He told us, even though we hadn't reserved a table, that we were very welcome. We were served at the table by Anna. What can I say a 10+*. This cheerful, loving, courteous attitude was simply great. I can also mention that it was our son's birthday today and we celebrated with a serenade, a table fountain and a drink. We'd love to come back.

Very nice staff and very good food no matter what you order But on the menu it says that there is a burger, it's not a burger like from McDonald's, but a pati with garlic bread and lots of vegetables.

We were there with the mother-in-law. The atmosphere is from the eighties. I ordered a fitness plate. That's how the meat was drowned in a sauce...I wouldn't eat the dish again. The service was quite good.

Super attentive staff and irresistible steak! I would like to say a big thank you to the team. On Saturday evening, November 30th, we spontaneously came to the Block House shortly before the restaurant closed. It was my mom's birthday. I only mentioned this briefly and in passing in conversation with my sister at the reception. The staff must have listened very attentively, because it took less than 10 minutes and hey presto there were a few glasses of champagne and a fountain at our table. They played Happy Birthday throughout the restaurant. Really great attention and anything but a given, so close to the end of the day. You're not used to such good service anymore! Cheers! The Mrs. Rumpsteak was again irresistibly delicious. Thank you for the lovely evening. We'll be back!

It was terrific! At this point a special thank you to Dennis, who was so attentive, cheerful and friendly that “going out to eat” alone didn’t do justice to the situation. It was an experience! The food was great, only a very short waiting time thanks to a very short-term reservation in a full restaurant. When frying, deep-frying and cooking. We're watching. The only drawback: the women's toilets. A faucet had inhibitions, the female guests must have been piglets. ;) We'll be back!!

The first time in the Ahrensburg location. As usual, the steaks were very good and the service was friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, only the small mushroom pan tasted very close to “out of the bag”.

I've often had lunch at the blockhouse in Ahrensburg. There are employees there (not all of them) who unfortunately serve customers very rudely. It's a shame ☹️ the food is usually good. It appears that there has been some training among the staff. In this respect, I would of course like to revise my two-point rating.

I'm in Ahrensburg on business and didn't have a reservation at 6:45 p.m. I was quickly shown a pleasant table by the window (it was actually reserved) and the service was very good. The food too. The staff is extremely accommodating and also a little funny (bartender). I think people have mastered their craft here. Thank you.

Food was very good, service was super nice - a little scattered/uncoordinated here and there for my taste - but everything was ok. Block House actually always has the same ambience - and in my opinion - that's timelessly beautiful for a steakhouse. You can't really go wrong with Blockhouse. Highly recommended.

I left again after I dared to ask for a service and was pointed out so cheekily, even shamelessly, that I could see that I was being served. Disabled people are probably not welcome in the log cabin, or at least not by the waiter. I went to the Indian restaurant next door, very nice and friendly, good food!!

Block House Ahrensburg kann's einfach nicht. Ich habe mindestens 10 Filialen besucht und nur hier gibt es konstant seit 1990 Schwierigkeiten. Heute war es besonders erniedrigend. Bestellt hatten wir Hüftsteak mit Kartoffel und Kräuterbutter, aber ohne Brot mit Hinweis auf schwere Lebensmittelunverträglichkeit. Es kam dann das Steak mit in Weizenmehl geschwenkten/glutenenthaltenden Pommes an sowie Brot, das halb auf dem Steak lag. "Das sollen wir jetzt echt ALLES neu machen?!" sagte die Kellnerin. Dies empfand ich bereits als sehr unangemessen und kundenunfreundlich. Schließlich ist es nicht mein Fehler, wenn meine Bestellung wie jeses Mal vergeigt wird. Dies war jedoch nicht das Ende der Geschichte. Zurück brachte die Dame dann das Steak mit Kartoffel, die in Spur Cream schwamm. Als wir nun das dritte Mal darauf hinwiesen, daß ich dies nicht essen darf, sagte sie herablassend genervt, "Das wär aber schon gut, wenn sie's dann auch bei der Bestellung sagen, was Sie haben möchten." BITTE WIE?! Unverschämt! Auch meine Begleiterin wies sofort darauf hin, daß ich drei Mal ganz deutlich das gleiche Essen bestellt habe, es aber nicht erhalten habe. Zudem muß ich anmerken, daß das Restaurant fast leer war. Somit sollte eine so einfache Bitte, Brot wegzulassen und statt Sour Cream Kräuterbutter auf die Kartoffel zu packen, nun nicht sehr schwierig oder aufwendig sein. Es ist wirklich unglaublich, wie dieses Etablissement stetig unfreundliches, unprofessionelles, und unfähiges Personal anzieht. Meine Freunde und ich bezeichnen es ironisch als Australien der Restaurants, da wir vermuten, daß hierhin alle problematischen Kellner aus anderen Filialen abgeschoben werden. Das letzte Mal fragte ich, ob ich in den Tee meine eigene mitgebrachte Sojamilch mischen dürfe. Sie hätten Sojamilch wurde mir entgegnet. Somit bestellte ich diese dann auch gern. Natürlich wurde mir Kuhmilch gebracht. Daß immer mehr Menschen an Krankheiten leiden, die sie dazu zwingen, auf Alternativen zurückzugreifen ist nicht neu. Auch wir möchten gern mal Essen gehen. Daß wir so behandelt werden, als stellte es eine derartige Zumuting zu, daß wir überhaupt existieren finde ich sehr ableistisch.

Very good staff.. From Rostock of course 😉... No, all the employees there were really very professional, friendly and hard-working. The food is good and standard. It is precisely because of this combination that I like to go to a log cabin again and again. Small criticism in Ahrensburg... Better ventilation... would be good. I would love to come back... Unfriendly service, rare at Blockhaus

Standard steak, nothing special, you just have to be lucky with the staff… On our last visit we had a male waitress with South American appearance. We felt a little like we were at the hidden camera! When I was served my bread, I realized that it was cold. I complained to the aforementioned male waiter, who without comment tore my plate off the table and threw it onto a service station. After three minutes he came with a new loaf of bread. He kind of threw this on the table to me with the words: “Here’s your new bread.” The lady at the next table had to giggle at that. But if they had known... After the lady and her companion had ordered, they received the wrong dishes at the table twice in a row. She explained each time that these were not the dishes that they had ordered. And every time the male waitress reacted aggressively to the lady's speech. When the waitress brought the right thing to the neighboring table the third time, she said something like the people in the kitchen need to learn to read. Ok, that's it for us

Delicious food and attentive service.

We were spontaneously there at lunchtime on a Saturday, the shop was relatively empty and we had free choice of seating. Our waitress was very nice, super attentive and also responded to any special requests. The food was very good. We had carpaccio and onion soup as starters and Mr. and Mrs. rump steak as the main course. The steaks were excellent, the soup was very good as always. Only the carpaccio could have had a little less pesto for our taste, as the great quality of the meat was somewhat masked by the pesto taste.

As always, we were served a really delicious meal. Unfortunately today there was a waiting time of around 45 minutes, but it was also a bit busier than usual. The conditions (a very tall man) were extremely friendly, personable and simply great! Treated the children super nicely! We felt very comfortable 😊

I have been visiting the Blockhouse in Ahrensburg for years. The food is well prepared and they are happy to accommodate any special requests (such as no seasoning, etc.). A slight comment is generally aimed at Blockhouse planning or headquarters and not at the Ahrensburg branch. The weekly meals are continuously increasing in price, but every other week the side dishes are removed from the program or are no longer offered. Every other week (for example) fries or potatoes are missing. Things used to be different. At 13.50 euros per weekly meal, as a customer I expect a constant supply with the same number of side dishes from the Blockhouse headquarters. It affects the lunch menu in every complete second week of the weekly specials and not the daily specials. I ask you to reconsider this. What is very positive is that I feel very comfortable with Mr. Steffen Buhr and his team, especially with Mr. Can (probably pronounced Jan ;-)... ). The service is therefore absolutely top-notch and customer-friendly. In my opinion, the atmosphere is no longer up to date. By that I mean the furnishings of the restaurants. The Blockhouse Restaurants could present themselves as more modern, brighter and airier. Parking spaces are very limited in the area. 3 of our own in number. Bicycle stands are barely visible. Today it took forever for the service to arrive. When we ordered an espresso macchiato, which was served as shown in the photos, and we complained about it, the team management, Ms. Matuschek, insulted us, threatened to take our plates away if we didn't drink the espresso like that and finally poured it down my pants . 19.7. to your answer: It is true that the service staff throughout Germany are/were always courteous and friendly. We have never experienced behavior like yesterday anywhere. One of the always nice employees at your company wanted to serve a new espresso macchiato, which your team management prevented. Nothing is clarified. Thanks to Ms. Matuschek's behavior, even passers-by noticed the scene she made, so there are enough witnesses. It's sad that a team leader behaves like this...

The food was rather mediocre. The potato gratin was still underneath. My pastured lamb was good. The steak for my grandson was a bit tough so I had to swap.

Ambiance is a bit old, service is quick, friendly and accommodating. Food okay, the crispy chicken I ordered was well seasoned, but NOT crispy.
