If we want to eat well, we go to the Blockhouse at Holstentor. If there is still a free table by the window, your luck is perfect. Have never been disappointed.

Very good address, the beef here is of great quality, and the service is too.

Okay. The staff was personable, friendly, and attentive. They chose the New York cheeseburger menu. It was prepared fairly quickly. The meat was very good and completely met expectations. Unfortunately, the fries were unsatisfactory, and the amount of coleslaw was far too small. It could be better.

Only McDonald's is faster! If you value fast food, this is just right for you. Otherwise nothing to eat comfortably! But the bill will be brought to you before you've finished your beer. Without asking you to pay!

On a holiday day we visited the log cabin in Lübeck. As always, the food was very good. But what should be particularly highlighted is the service person Ramona, who was so refreshing to us. That was a highlight of the day.

The ambience and service were great. The waitress was courteous and perfectly timed without being intrusive. The steak was cooked perfectly medium and the salad and baked potato were also excellent. The chilli mango sauce tastes perfect. A 10/10 for this steakhouse.

We are there regularly and always feel very comfortable. Great service and great cuisine. Thank you also for the great Blockhouse shopping cart chips ;-)

If you are craving for steak, you are at the right place! Blockhouse has been there (Lübeck) for decades and it's quality hasn't been changed. Though it may be pricy for its portion but I think its taste is worth it especially the steak with their secret pepper steak. Service is excellent as always even in busy days, they make sure you have what you need. The surroundings is perfect a date also with an overlooking view of Holstentor.

Food was really tasty, arrived quickly and to the point. We got there early and got a table quickly, but after that it quickly became fuller and many other guests had to wait because unfortunately they don't work with reservations. But the best person was our waitress Petra. Thank you for this super great service!

So the number of grams of the fillets was reduced. American Tenderlain only 220 grams and the Filet Mignon only 160 grams. Now you won't be full anymore. The soup also turned out quite thin. Haven't been there for a long time now. But you definitely won't see us in any blockhouses again.

I had dinner at the Block House with my wife on February 15, 2025. We were met at the door and shown to a table. After a good 10-15 minutes the employee brought us the card. We haven't quite decided yet and she came. I asked for 5 minutes and she just turned away and left, no ok no nothing. We ordered and ate, dropped the fork, everything was quickly cleared away and we immediately asked for dessert. OK, let's do it, I said. Dessert was ordered and eaten and you had to let the food sink in. Then she came and interrupted us in your important discussion and said, when we're done eating, whether we can pay because it's so full today :( I thought I wasn't hearing properly!!!!!! She interrupted us in the conversation to tell me that we should clear the table!!!! Is that my problem? If the restaurant is full then it's full. We weren't told in advance eat and then get lost! I didn't want to cause any stress and said it's okay, my wife said I'd go to the toilet for a moment and then we can Let's go, things got worse, less than 5 minutes later the restaurant manager came and said the same thing, and I wrote to the service and so far no answer. We would have eaten Blockhouse more undisturbed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away as proof!

The three of us had a nice place by the window, with a view of the Holstentor, at blue hour. They even got us some painkillers for my daughter. We had 3 Hereford rib-eye steaks, rare, rare-medium and medium. The steaks were magical, the potatoes and salad were outstanding. Plus 1 large bottle of water, two non-alcoholic Beck's for dessert, Belgian waffles and double espresso. The loving service from Mr. Ermin Magic is unbelievable. We felt very comfortable and hope that the tip with the EC card also arrived. When I look at some of the criticism here, I can only shake my head. My daughter particularly liked the classic ambience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very loving. Dear BLOCK HOUSE team, please don't let it get you down. We would love to come back and if there is no space available, we will wait or come back another time. I have known this company since the 70s. System catering at the highest level. Thank you for this wonderful evening.

You cannot reserve a table. We were greeted at the door and told that we (four people) would only have the table for 1.5 hours. Something like that is impossible. Maybe you can do something like that. do with tourists. In terms of noise level, it's a train station atmosphere. You could also say, a better chip shop. The meat was ok, but the baked potatoes were unsightly and burnt, so the food had to be complained about twice. We as Lübeck residents will not enter this store again.

Simply system catering. Everything has to go smoothly. Hardly any tables can be reserved, all other tables without reservation, which can lead to longer waiting times at the entrance. We waited about 15 minutes. As soon as we arrived at the table, the first employee rushed over with the menu cards. Ordered shortly afterwards. Food and drinks came very quickly and, as expected, were delicious. That's good, but the employees all seem to be under massive pressure and stress. You can see it in them. That really detracts from the ambience. Nevertheless, everyone was very friendly.

Nice service, food is also very good. I have noticed the baked potatoes several times that they are simply overcooked or kept warm for too long. Not so good in taste. But the steak is a dream. Unfortunately, the steak dinner was only available upon request. All in all, still highly recommended.

The food was very tasty, we had rump steak and rump steak. Everything was fried perfectly, and the side dishes were also delicious. The service staff was very nice and accommodating.

Decent food, but didn’t live up to the reviews. The onion soup was great, but everything else was lacking. The steak was way undercooked, the burger came without a top bun, and the sides were decent, but not what we were expecting for the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though they did seem to be spread thin as the place was really busy. Not sure why, but we were the only people there under the age of 65.

The taste is a dream, the Blockhouse chain is pure quality.

Beautifully located directly opposite the Holstentor. The staff is very nice and friendly! Arianne and Daniela in particular deserve special mention here. The food is unique, perfectly grilled and super tasty. I always enjoy being there! After a year, I unfortunately have to revise my rating downwards. A year ago I gave 5 stars everywhere. However, a lot has changed. In my opinion the quality has become worse. The ambience is the same, service is still good, but the food has deteriorated a lot. Very, very unfortunate. The boss who was present that day isn't exactly... well

Straight 5 stars. Were there today and had a salad with turkey steaks and a rump steak. The service was really excellent. We were greeted warmly by every service person. As a starter there was a salad with a great dressing to go with the steak. The salad was at the table within 2 minutes. And we didn't have to wait long for the main course either. The food was extremely tasty. The ambience in Lübeck's old town is also unbeatable. The price here is completely fair for what is offered. Card payment is also possible.

To be honest, we were very disappointed. The children's burgers were nothing more than a boulette with fries without any side dish like tomatoes or anything similar. Any train station snack bar can do that at least as well. The tiny medallions were worth a mere €24 and the adult burgers came with a piece of baguette instead of a bun. All in all, this was very disappointing.

We wanted to go out to dinner with my father-in-law for his birthday. It wasn't possible to make a reservation, which was a shame, but we still arrived on time and were seated (improvisedly, with two tables of 6 people pushed together). The drinks came quickly and the salad also went well. However, there were two problems with the main course. On the one hand, the 300g rump steak was "medium rare" to "rare" inside and not "medium" as ordered. This was excusable and was immediately repaired, but another 300g rump steak had a huge edge of fat, could hardly be cut with a knife and the steak was bloody in places. About 30 minutes later everyone had already finished eating (the new rump steak was bridged with a bruscetta) and we were still waiting for the rump steak. Again, this was not "medium" but rather "medium rare" to "rare". It's actually a shame because the prices are very reasonable. It feels like mass processing here, everything has to happen quickly and everyone has to hurry to leave. I can only recommend always approaching the waitress and complaining, then they will help you. Or you can stay away completely, then you'll save yourself the trouble and time.

I've been to various Block Houses and am always pleasantly surprised 😍 I received excellent service from Ms. Petra. Friendly, attentive and simply brilliant. This is how I imagine hosts. No step or step was superfluous with her, and she asked all guests for drinks and desserts so confidently that I think every table placed many additional orders with her. It was so fun to watch her work. That's why I love Block House, good food, good service. And very important, the plates are preheated! At some point I even had to think about which block house I was in 😅 Berlin, Rostock, Munich or even Hamburg... Oh yes, I'm in Lübeck🎉 When I went out to eat again the next day, at the same table (4?), Ms. Petra, who worked in another station, came by and I hadn't seen her at all; and welcome me warmly. That's when my heart opened 🥰 Block House should have such MA with gold 🎁

Unfortunately, our visit to the Block House Lübeck was disappointing. We were seated at a table for two, but there was no friendly greeting or recommendation - especially for lunch. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was still served raw on the inside. After my complaint, it was put back on the grill, but unfortunately I was served fries instead of the baked potato I ordered. There was also no adequate apology. Overall, the service left something to be desired, and the ordering errors marred the dining experience. It's a shame because we were looking forward to a pleasant visit.

We were on a Christmas trip to Lübeck and ate at the Block House. The food was really good and the service was both friendly and fast. So all in all a really good experience. We got rid of approx. €80 for 2 people and we didn't miss anything when we left.

Huge complaint to Ms. Orval, we eat in this house once a week with our twins. We were always able to sit anywhere. Ms. Orval came up to us and directed us to a place that was not possible with a car. The argument was that the escape route must be kept clear. It wasn't even possible to turn the car or even for anyone to walk there. Although the service staff has to work the salad bar on their necks. We asked to sit in a place that we have occupied many times. That wasn't possible on her part, she doesn't want it! Either have a salad with sleeping children or we can leave! Unfriendly families, we were sent away with a huge fuss. We would be happy to write another official complaint. We left! Ms. Orval is out of place! Solution-oriented work is not on your list!

One of the best steaks my boyfriend has had in a long time. Large Ribeye. Very friendly service, could speak a little bit of Danish. We shared a starter, got a steak each, a cake and a double espresso. 112 euros including 10% tip.

It's actually like a snack! But you think it's a restaurant. Employees are very nice! You just have to get everything yourself 😉 but it will be cleared away.

It was all hell breaking loose, but all the employees were super organized, calm and friendly. To shorten the waiting time, red wine and orange juice were served in the queue. It took a little longer to take the order due to the rush, but the food came surprisingly quickly and was extremely tasty.

I was there today with my partner and was bitterly disappointed 😞, there were hardly any people there but we waited 15 minutes until the menu was brought (it was brought too politely because it was almost thrown on the table) and then we just said this and this and this you could barely keep up with and she was gone. When the lady was nearby, we called her politely with "Excuse me, we would like to order" her answer was unfriendly and harsh "I'll be there in a minute, I have something better to do" then we waited 20 minutes until we could order something. There was no longer any dish of the day even though we were there at 2 p.m., the dish of the day is supposed to be available until 3 p.m. Ambience is rather overloaded and oppressive. Conclusion: I will avoid Blockhaus Lübeck because it is better in Hamburg.

Great service and great food. I have the T-bone. Tender meat on the bone and that is the big disadvantage of this meat. Next time I'd rather have the Rib-Eye Mastercut. But as I said, great restaurant!

Nowhere do I taste a steak as good as there. The Blockhouse bread, the sour cream, the salad, the French dressing: everything couldn't be better for me!

We come regularly to Lübeck and this was not our first visit to the restaurant. This time the grandparents were there, and based on previous experiences we chose Block House as a "safe bet" for a good dinner. We were not disappointed this time either. We knew in advance that no reservations could be made, so people just walked in from the street. We arrived at 5.30pm and sat down after a maximum of 5 minutes, so it was perfectly acceptable. Despite being extremely busy, the two seemed absolutely surplus to requirements, and we didn't wait long for the food. Everything was just as expected and grandmother, who is almost 80, claimed that it was perhaps the best steak ever. There is life and happy days in such a restaurant, so if you expect peace and quiet, you will of course be disappointed. We knew what we were getting into though, so no problems there. The food is top notch and the prices reasonably low. For example rib eye with fries, salad, bread and two soft drinks for approx. DKK 270. It's just fine for super food in the most central location. When we left the restaurant, the queue to enter was rather long. However, we noted that everyone waiting was equipped with a glass to wait on.

Service great, thanks again to the super friendly waiter. Went there spontaneously as a large group and managed to accommodate everyone after a short time. The food was delicious and the evening was really great.

First of all, the staff should be mentioned: we have rarely received such competent advice in a restaurant as in the Block House Lübeck. As a guest, it's so pleasant to be looked after by people who enjoy their job - that's exactly what we found here. The food is simply outstanding: the steaks were on point and everything around them was just so delicious! The Block House is a must on your next visit to Lübeck!

Classic steakhouse, entrance a bit hidden as it is above other restaurants with a different entrance. Lots of guests, but also a lot of staff, longer waiting times for service and food. There isn't much of a selection, some are just on a small table. Unfortunately, the combination of dishes is predetermined and cannot be put together flexibly. Meat quality was okay, unfortunately not brilliant, as expected given the price. Portion size is rather small. Generally recommended, but there are other steakhouses too.

Super child-friendly (children's menu, something to paint, play area, changing table, high chairs, the children's meal came directly after the starters, bubbles after the meal). Very friendly staff and a view of the Holstentor.

Steak was ok, but everything seemed a bit bland to me. With a direct look into the kitchen, the mass processing became visible. Cucumber slices were slapped onto the plates, cole slaw simply slapped on top. Cutting baked potatoes with your bare hands...it's clear that everyone is under pressure when the restaurant is full, but when you as a guest can watch this going on, it doesn't make a good impression.

Prices are borderline in my opinion, everything tastes okay! Tartar only on bread, which really disappointed me. Why do they do that? Everything here is busy and hectic, but the atmosphere is rather disappointing. In my opinion, more professional serenity in the service would be good.

The waitress Petra was very nice and we were lucky enough to sit at a great table by the window at the end of the restaurant - perfect for our dog, who even got a bowl of water. The salads were fresh and tasty, and the steaks were excellently prepared. Our orders came very quickly, which we particularly liked. There was something for our children to paint and even a small gift at the end, which rounded off the evening perfectly. The ambience in the log cabin is cozy and inviting. The rustic furnishings and the pleasant atmosphere contribute to an all-round successful visit. We'd love to come back!

I felt very well looked after there. It was my first visit and I will certainly go again. The food is delicious. However, the portion would be significantly larger if the salad were not served in advance but with the meal. But that is just my personal opinion. The taste was very good. What I like is that you can choose the grade of meat. Whether you want it medium or a little more well-done or grilled. The service staff is super friendly. I will gladly come again.

On July 28th, 2024 my colleagues and I were in the blockhouse in Luebeck. We hadn't pre-ordered but the friendly lady at the entrance asked us to wait a bit and we got our table very quickly. Fast, very friendly service and the food, like every year (I've been coming to Luebeck since 1989), was great. Thank you very much for that👍 I would like to have chicken breast fillet on the menu again☺️

Very nice and attentive service. They prepared a place by the window for us at short notice. Our server Petra could read minds and brought the second pilsner almost without being asked. Meat was very good and aromatic, cooked as ordered. It was just a shame that the ketchup contains xanthan gum, which my wife can't tolerate and doesn't correspond to the company's claim.

This was the chewiest entrecote I have ever eaten. You can expect a lot more from a steak restaurant.

Was here by chance when the manager checked the store. For once it “just happened” to be clean that day and all the employees were really nice. Recommendation: On your next visit, pretend to be the manager and eat better.

That was just great. You are taken to your table and then immediately asked if you would like something to drink. The menu is clear and the combination of steak, side dish and salad is generous. The steak was perfectly medium rare, the salad wasn't boring and everything was perfect. The two of us paid around €75 and found that justified.

Well worth a visit! The staff were fantastic and the food was super good.
