BLOCK HOUSE in Lübeck

We come regularly to Lübeck and this was not our first visit to the restaurant. This time the grandparents were there, and based on previous experiences we chose Block House as a "safe bet" for a good dinner. We were not disappointed this time either. We knew in advance that no reservations could be made, so people just walked in from the street. We arrived at 5.30pm and sat down after a maximum of 5 minutes, so it was perfectly acceptable. Despite being extremely busy, the two seemed absolutely surplus to requirements, and we didn't wait long for the food. Everything was just as expected and grandma, who is almost 80, claimed that it was perhaps the best steak ever. There is life and happy days in such a restaurant, so if you expect peace and quiet, you will of course be disappointed. We knew what we were getting into though, so no problems there. The food is top notch and the prices reasonably low. For example rib eye with fries, salad, bread and two soft drinks for approx. DKK 270. It's just fine for super food in the most central location. When we left the restaurant, the line to enter was rather long. However, we noted that everyone waiting was equipped with a glass to wait on.

Yummy. And Petra is a nice, competent service person. The filet mignon in a nutshell. The salad with mushrooms is simply delicious. Cheaper than in Hanover. We'll be back.

Very friendly and attentive service (and attractive to boot 😇). Good food, fair prices. We were seated immediately without having to wait. Right by the window with a view of the Holstentor 😍. By the time we left, a line had formed at the entrance. Had a pig😁. Gladly again 👍🏻

Service great, thanks again to the super friendly waiter. Went there spontaneously as a large group and managed to accommodate everyone after a short time. The food was delicious and the evening was really great.

First of all, the staff should be mentioned: we have rarely received such competent advice in a restaurant as in the Block House Lübeck. As a guest, it's so pleasant to be looked after by people who enjoy their job - that's exactly what we found here. The food is simply outstanding: the steaks were on point and everything around them was just so delicious! The Block House is a must on your next visit to Lübeck!

Excellent rump steak, excellent service

Classic steakhouse, entrance a bit hidden as it is above other restaurants with a different entrance. Lots of guests, but also a lot of staff, longer waiting times for service and food. There isn't much of a selection, some are just on a small table. Unfortunately, the combination of dishes is predetermined and cannot be put together flexibly. Meat quality was okay, unfortunately not brilliant, as expected given the price. Portion size is rather small. Generally recommended, but there are other steakhouses too.

As always, a lovely visit. Very friendly staff, even special requests or changes are accepted without any problems. Food was again very tasty. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're hungry for a nice steak. Only the prices here have risen significantly.

I went to the Blockhouse to have dinner. Regina served me and the service was excellent. The food was tasty and mid-range in price. The ambience of the chain is a bit older and outdated, I'm used to that.

Super child-friendly (children's menu, something to paint, play area, changing table, high chairs, the children's meal came directly after the starters, bubbles after the meal). Very friendly staff and a view of the Holstentor.

Steak was ok, but everything seemed a bit bland to me. With a direct look into the kitchen, the mass processing became visible. Cucumber slices were slapped onto the plates, cole slaw simply slapped on top. Cutting baked potatoes with your bare hands...it's clear that everyone is under pressure when the restaurant is full, but when you as a guest can watch this going on, it doesn't make a good impression.

Prices are borderline in my opinion, everything tastes okay! Tartar only on bread, which really disappointed me. Why do they do that? Everything here is busy and hectic, but the atmosphere is rather disappointing. In my opinion, more professional serenity in the service would be good.

Food is good. But the service makes it perfect. Especially Petra. We spent 3 days in Lubeck and also spent 3 days here. The people in the service make you welcome. We will definitely come back here. Hopefully Petra will still be there

Came over with 3 children. Food was (as always) delicious. Service was outstanding! Incredibly friendly, caring directly for the children. Even the small problems (glass falling over) were solved immediately. We'll definitely be back. Thanks to the great team here!

Very nice atmosphere with very good and polite staff.. very nice view of the Holsten Tor.. unfortunately there were only frozen fries with the New York Cheese Burger.. For that price I personally would have expected steakhouse fries.. The patty was good. .

The restaurant is always very busy. The prices are fair, the quality of the food is great. The service is courteous and friendly. Even though it was so busy, we didn't have to wait long for our food. It's always a pleasure to come here if you want to eat really good steak.

Since I was so excited about Block H in Rostock, I thought I would feel just as comfortable in Lübeck I received a great welcome in Rostock, the service was fantastic, the food was great 👍 Everything perfect Here in Lübeck: exactly the opposite Ok, I'll wait for a table until one is free No thing Then you wait forever until you even get a card... oh well Then another while until you can order something And just because I order the burger without a bun, I don't want a strange facial expression... Food was terrible: meat didn't taste like anything, the portion of cole slaw wasn't even a forkful, the fries were full of fat and were lukewarm Unfortunately, no one asked in between... There was no question when clearing up, I mentioned everything - and what was Nothing, absolutely nothing A short-winded apology after I had long since paid - when the service team ran away Very untasty and I absolutely cannot recommend something like that And if they don't even try to make amends

We had dinner with you today and found the food very tasty. For the price, my steak was great (medium). And the plates were empty! Lübeck is and remains my birthplace. I'd love to come back!

Perfect meat! One of my favourite restaurants!

The waitress Petra was very nice and we were lucky enough to sit at a great table by the window at the end of the restaurant - perfect for our dog, who even got a bowl of water. The salads were fresh and tasty, and the steaks were excellently prepared. Our orders came very quickly, which we particularly liked. There was something for our children to paint and even a small gift at the end, which rounded off the evening perfectly. The ambience in the log cabin is cozy and inviting. The rustic furnishings and the pleasant atmosphere contribute to an all-round successful visit. We'd love to come back!

I felt very well looked after there. It was my first visit and I will certainly go again. The food is delicious. However, the portion would be significantly larger if the salad were not served in advance but with the meal. But that is just my personal opinion. The taste was very good. What I like is that you can choose the grade of meat. Whether you want it medium or a little more well-done or grilled. The service staff is super friendly. I will gladly come again.

On July 28th, 2024 my colleagues and I were in the blockhouse in Luebeck. We hadn't pre-ordered but the friendly lady at the entrance asked us to wait a bit and we got our table very quickly. Fast, very friendly service and the food, like every year (I've been coming to Luebeck since 1989), was great. Thank you very much for that👍 I would like to have chicken breast fillet on the menu again☺️

Very nice and attentive service. They prepared a place by the window for us at short notice. Our server Petra could read minds and brought the second pilsner almost without being asked. Meat was very good and aromatic, cooked as ordered. It was just a shame that the ketchup contains xanthan gum, which my wife can't tolerate and doesn't correspond to the company's claim.

This was the chewiest entrecote I have ever eaten. You can expect a lot more from a steak restaurant.

Very attentive service, good drinking and eating. Without a table reservation, we were immediately assigned a good table.

Was here by chance when the manager checked the store. For once it “just happened” to be clean that day and all the employees were really nice. Recommendation: On your next visit, pretend to be the manager and eat better.

Spent a wonderful evening with family and dog today. It was a bit of a humid summer night but the food and service made the heat bearable ❤️ Had ordered tartar, bruschetta and various steak menus. That was just great. You are taken to your table and then immediately asked if you would like something to drink. The menu is clear and the combination of steak, side dish and salad is generous. The steak was perfectly medium rare, the salad wasn't boring and everything was perfect. The two of us paid around €75 and found that justified.

Well worth a visit! The staff were fantastic and the food was super good.

The steak was super tender and had a great "grilled" taste, the baked potato could be a little bigger (I really like it), the salad was fresh. The ambience, like most Block House restaurants, could use some updating. Price-performance ratio is definitely right for me and we would go there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Block House in Lübeck on June 22nd, 2024. The restaurant was very busy, no wonder given the good service and food. Our waitress, her name was Petra, was very nice and friendly. When she asked us what we wanted to eat, the tablet we ordered fell out of her hand and into my arm, but Petra took care of me straight away and we all had to laugh. The food was very tasty, I had beef fillet medallions and my partner had rump steak, then there was dessert. All in all, I have to say that unfortunately there aren't such funny waiters and such good service in Hamburg. We will be in Lübeck until tomorrow, when we come back to Lübeck a visit to the Block House is a must.

Our New York cheeseburger was very good. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. It's really a nice place to spend some time between sightseeing. If we ever find ourselves in Lübeck again, we'd be happy to do so again.

The Block House in Lübeck. I know some, but today I'm a little disappointed. Service was friendly, only 20 minutes. Waiting for the Pils, a bit too much. OK. It was relatively busy, but drinks should be quicker. We ordered linguine mutt chicken slices. Positively we would be served with parmesan. Unfortunately, the noodles didn't have enough bite, the chicken strips were very well done and juicy. The tomatoes seemed more like tomato salad to me. Now it's your own fault if you order Italian in a steak restaurant.

It was very delicious. Food top. Service super friendly, nice, accommodating. We will be back.

We stayed one night in Lübeck on the way back from our vacation in Sweden and went out to eat. I've always known Block House well from Berlin... But that was a very special evening... The food was great... Greetings to the chef who fried my master steak, but the star was Petra. ...I haven't experienced such great service in a restaurant for a long time...Greetings go out. If I could give more than five, I would double.... Thank you Blockhouse and Petra for this lovely end to the holiday :-)

As expected, super delicious food! We recommend!

We were in Lübeck with 8 people for 3 days and had reserved a table in the Block House for today. Apart from the excellent, delicious food, the friendly and courteous behavior of the service staff must be highlighted. This could generally be observed among all employees. Even the bills were handed out in envelopes on which our service staff had handwritten “Petra wishes you a sunny day”. There is no increase!! Thank you very much Petra!!! It was super delicious, as previously described we did not find Steack on the menu. We had a very tasty Italian meal and people were waiting to enter. That's saying something!!! So we don't regret it and we will definitely come back here.

We had dinner at Block Haus today and were really very satisfied! We were warmly welcomed by Ramona who showed us to the table and provided really great service throughout our stay! For decades, consistently high quality of all food and drinks in a cultivated atmosphere. The steaks in particular are second to none. However, the prices are also quite high.

Celiac disease? - Taken seriously here and no problem. Delicious steak, baked potato and oil and vinegar brought to the table to make your own. Very nice service.

Lovely staff, very helpful and friendly, everyone that you come across welcomes you with a warm smile. Our waitress lady Ramona is a true professional. Food is served almost immediately and is very high quality. Apfelstrudel is IMMACULATE, truly a must-try. There's nothing to complain about, Block House is a hidden pearl in the middle of Lübeck.

Great view if you get one of the coveted window seats. Courteous, friendly service and, as in every BLOCK HOUSE, the food was delicious.

This time we were guests in Lübeck. The entrance is a bit difficult to find as it is a bit confusing from the outside. The welcome was very warm as was the service at the table. Big praise to the team in Lübeck!!! Our food was okay so far, I was only 90% satisfied with the quality of the filet mignon, but it was still well grilled and had a nice texture. We'd love to come back!

The Block House is located at the Holstentor and near the pedestrian zone. The restaurant is very busy at lunchtime. The service is friendly and relatively quick despite the large number of guests. In addition to the usual Block House menu, there is also an inexpensive lunch menu. The food is good quality and plentiful. Conclusion: recommended.

I spontaneously got a table at BLOCK House on a Saturday evening, even with a nice view. The service was friendly. However, I was rather disappointed with the presentation of the food, it all looked very bland. The food tasted good.

My visit to the Block House was a true culinary highlight! The ambience was cozy and inviting, and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. But the absolute highlight was of course the food: the steak I ordered was perfectly grilled and incredibly tender and juicy. There was also a selection of delicious side dishes and sauces that completed the taste experience. The wine list also left nothing to be desired and rounded off the perfect meal. Overall, my visit to the Block House was a real pleasure experience and I can only warmly recommend it!

Classic block house. Decent meat quality and the usual modular principle. What is particularly worth mentioning is the great service: despite the store being full, very attentive, friendly and personable.

Never again The staff in the restaurant is very nice, after a short search a table for seven people was found. On the menu, the cheapest dish starts at €15. Add another €2.50 and you get a New York Cheese Burger with fries. After a short wait, the burger came. The upper part of the bun was missing, the whole thing looked more like a Karlsberg cut. The patty didn't see any seasoning, not even from far away. The fries were good, the shape and consistency suggest that they came straight from the Lidl freezer. The entire cole slaw salad fit on one tablespoon. Overall, it was a disgrace to serve something like that in a renowned chain. The price-performance ratio is underground. Even the view of the Holstentor doesn't justify the price of the meal. After the visit, I spent €8 on the kebab and then I was satisfied and full. Never again.

Always a great experience. This was the second time we were served excellently by Ms. Diederichsen. I would therefore like to mention you by name here; such employees deserve the greatest recognition.

Restaurant to eat good meat accompanied by a good salad. I find all the ingredients very good and very well cooked.

We had lunch here. 4 small steaks are more like a small skewer. Otherwise we were satisfied. Soup and dessert were delicious.

Service very good!! Can't complain, very friendly. The food was also very good, but if you order a burger you want one too. I ordered the Classic Block Burger and instead of a "burger" as you know it, you get a simple bullete/meatball. No lie, you only get the burger patty. Was very disappointing!!! The map should definitely be corrected!!!

Steaks to the point, delicious onion soup first. Ambience good, definitely better view from the window. Absolutely outstanding service, friendly, fast and competent yet unobtrusive. Lovely again!
