Bistro Augustus in Bernkastel-Kues

I stood at the door on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The door closed, I knocked, and called. No response, even though I could see staff outside and hear noises and my own calls. After calling four times, I left again.

The service was aloof and unfriendly, especially considering the upscale atmosphere. We had a table for 7 pm, but arrived much earlier and politely inquired whether a table was available. We were then shown to a table. We felt like we were interrupting the entire time, as the other tables were being served with smiles and good cheer, while our food was simply placed in front of us without a "please" or "thank you." Unfortunately, the food was also not good. The fries were hard, and the cream sauce lacked any real flavor. We would not recommend this restaurant.

Really quaint, intimate setting with friendly staff and delicious food! Flammkuchen was great.

The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was okay, and the prices were reasonable. They charged an extra 80 cents for fries instead of rice, without mentioning it. Tzatziki as a side dish cost €2.30. Some of the gyros didn't seem fresh, the lamb chop was very tough, and the suzuki could have been cooked more thoroughly. After repeated requests, a large bottle of mayonnaise was finally brought to the table. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience and we wouldn't repeat it.
