Binokel Café Bistro Mannheim in Mannheim

Ich hatte bereits vor einiger Zeit eine Bewertung zu diesem Unternehmen verfasst, die nun von Google entfernt wurde. Da ich meine Erfahrung weiterhin teilen möchte, hier noch einmal meine Eindrücke: Die Lage des Geschäfts ist gut, jedoch war die Wartezeit sehr lang und der Service wirkte unorganisiert. Die bestellten Getränke kamen mit einem Abstand von 20 Minuten, und die heiße Schokolade war nur lauwarm. Zudem haben wir vergeblich auf ein bestelltes Stück Kuchen gewartet. Ich halte ehrliches Kundenfeedback für wichtig und finde es schade, wenn kritische, aber sachliche Bewertungen nicht sichtbar bleiben.

Sehr guter Café und netter französischer Flair. Die Musik ergänzt ausgezeichnet die Atmosphäre. Ich hatte die Penne mit mediterranem Gemüse. Ein kreativer und sehr leckerer Twist. Man sitzt sehr schön und die Bedienung war freundlich. Die Toiletten sind sauber. Alles in allem wird einem ein schöner und angenehmer Aufenthalt ermöglicht !

Wurde als Gast trotz fast leerem Restaurant lange nicht beachtet. Die Herren waren zu sehr mit dem Säubern der Theke befasst. Als ich dann ohne Essensbestellung das Lokal verließ wurde mir Hausverbot erteilt. Mein Getränk hatte ich natürlich bezahlt.

We received very attentive and friendly service, also had a very nice conversation with the new operator (kind regards at this point), and are pleased that one of our Mannheim all-time favorites is now so beautiful again, as well as the place and its history Mannheim's oldest bistro will once again be run in a fair and appropriately traditional manner. Keep it up! We are already looking forward to the terrace season on the “Best outdoor terrace in Mannheim”!

After a Sunday breakfast with my sister, we were looking for a place where we could have a good time both visually and pleasantly, and we came across this cute place. They were very attentive and friendly when getting advice on drinks. The decor and the guests inside were great. We sat there for so long that I can’t remember the names of one of the 2 ladies working, but I would like to thank both her and Budascu, who hosted us with his pleasant conversation and always smiling face, with whom we chatted from time to time, and send my love. I will visit again soon and now I have a friend there, dear Budascu ☺️

I was there on 12/21/24 with a group of friends because we had a special event. The location is very stylish and decorated in a very old fashioned jazz bar style. Truly spectacular. Very competent waiters and bartenders. Hence the 5 stars.

The Binokel restaurant in Mannheim impresses with its charming ambience and a diverse menu. The extensive breakfast menu is a particular highlight. The food is tastefully prepared and the drinks menu offers a good selection of wines, beers and specialty coffees. The service is friendly and accommodating. Overall, the Binokel is a recommendable place for cozy breakfasts or relaxed evenings in the heart of Mannheim.

Ignore the 4.x stars. It doesn't make sense to find angels on ceiling and wall paintings in there for free. The espresso is worth its weight in gold.

Quaint location in Mannheim. The food is completely okay. The service was friendly. Unfortunately it was bitterly cold that evening, especially on my legs. It blows through the front door like pike soup. I would have liked to stay seated longer but it wasn't possible.

I had an appointment there with a friend at 4 p.m. last Saturday. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good at all and I noticed the way the employees interacted with each other was very negative. The waitress, who was in her mid-30s, was totally rude and disrespectful towards her employees. She was inattentive and just sat there. This is what you see as a guest and it ruins your image. The drinks and coffee were very tasty.

Unfortunately I have to edit my review. I was there for dinner on Saturday lunchtime. The lunch menu is only valid from Monday to Friday but was still attached to the menu. Next week's lunch menu was already written up in front of the restaurant. Also not valid yet. Advertising signs on the street advertised foods that didn't exist. When ordering a König Ludwig Weissbier, you first ask for yeast or crystal. Then a cyclist is brought. I thought I was wrong and paid attention to the bartender the next time I ordered. I saw him mix soda into the beer. The person sitting next to me also ordered a wheat beer. I pointed out this mistake to the waiter. He then talked to the bartender and he seemed to have denied it. I then compared my beer with that of my neighbor - oh wonder, mine was much lighter. For the sake of completeness: since the beer was three quarters full when I paid, the waiter noticed my displeasure and offered me two espressos (for my wife and me) to make up for it. That was 5 years ago: Brilliant place for a nightcap while shopping

Nice long-established café/bistro in Mannheim city center. The selection of cakes is limited, but appears to be homemade. The coffee and TV selection is good, the service is attentive. Small warm snacks are also offered.

Always worth a visit! Let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere and enjoy it. I've never eaten anything before, everything looks delicious and smells good. The cake selection is great!

The consistency of potato soup was like paste. It only tasted good with tons of salt and pepper. Every Bags of soup are better. Toilet could be checked more often, no toilet paper not to mention cleanliness. The only positive point was the service. The binoculars used to be better

Original decor and friendly staff; I came all the way from Heidelberg again. The "Le Bistro" breakfast was cheap, but surprisingly carelessly prepared. Especially for such a traditional restaurant!

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our visit to the pinochle. My friend ordered “The English Man,” which included a mixed bread basket, and I chose one of the egg dishes, two scrambled eggs with bacon, which included a crispy roll. However, in the end we only received a bread basket with two crispy rolls for both dishes. When we asked the waitress about it, she promised to take care of it, but we didn't see her after that. She didn't even come to us during the entire breakfast, nor was it possible to wave her over. We ended up having to finish breakfast without additional bread, otherwise the food would have gotten cold. The waitress seemed quite overwhelmed that morning, which was probably because she was the only waitress. Nevertheless, the service should not suffer so much. The portions were also disappointing: the bacon in both dishes consisted of just two tiny slices, which looked as if a slice from the package had been cut in half. Overall, a disappointing experience that put a damper on the start of the weekend.

I always enjoy coming to Binokel, especially when I feel like eating tarte flambée. The restaurant impresses with its calm atmosphere with a touch of bohemianism and a stylish Art Deco accent. This is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine.

Waited 15 minutes for coffee, lukewarm. When paying, you were first told that no card payment for less than €10 was possible. So 9.60 was rounded up to €10. And then they said that they didn't think that they would order so little that they wouldn't even be able to pay with a card. WHAT? Service is different!

Nice location, with a great ambience. The breakfast is quite good here and the service creates a good atmosphere. Stopped in today for a nightcap and had two delicious, creamy coffees with milk. Always nice here. Also extremely cute accompanying program... ❤️❤️❤️

Impossible service! Takes forever, inattentive, clumsy, unhygienic. It can no longer be compared with the pinochle from before. A pity!

It was ok, but just ok. Anyone who uses whole egg convenience products will only ever produce mediocre quality. Ibis quality scrambled eggs/omelette. A pity…

One of the two waitresses was very unfriendly and neither of them wanted to bring us the special offers at the listed price. We were repeatedly told that we didn't understand the menu properly and that the last paragraph about the Sunday special only refers to the cake, which I don't think makes any sense.

Waiting over 2 hours for food is unacceptable

The conditions were very rude and super slow, the food took far too long, we waited for over an hour only to be told that our food was only being made now. Other people have already left because it took too long. Very messy.

The shop is actually really relaxed and happens to know from reliable sources that it is only looking for new faces who want to passionately immerse themselves in the gastronomic life, even full-time, if someone would like to be involved, change and influence a new future for this shop. There are ads on Indeed. Maybe someone for their business organization, but I don't know for sure, haha, if you're interested, you'd better ask yourself, of course :) Gotta go

Because of the proximity to our hotel, we decided to visit the binokel to eat breakfast. The rating of 4 stars and the recommendation “a visit to the binocular is mandatory when staying in Mannheim” also led us to this decision. When we arrived at the binokel, we immediately noticed that no one really felt responsible to serve us and we first had to look for someone who could welcome us. Be that as it may, everyone has a bad or stressful day. To eat… We each opted for the English breakfast. The breakfast can easily be described as a complete disaster. If you're looking for fresh rolls, delicious eggs or crispy bacon, you've definitely come to the wrong place at Binokel. Instead you get cold baked rolls that taste like they were baked the day before, unsalted (but at least fresh) mushrooms, loveless tomatoes and two slices of limp bacon. The fried egg was also prepared in a way that I would personally describe as creepy. At least the drinks like cappuccino or o-juice were convincing, but apart from the drinks, breakfast at Binokel is strongly discouraged. For 12€ you not only get far too little in terms of quantity, but also - and above all - you urgently need to improve the quality. We will definitely not be coming back and would also advise others who are thinking about enjoying breakfast here not to do so.

On May 16th, 2024 around 5:30 p.m. my girlfriend and I were at the pinochle to end the evening. We ordered a Lillet and an Aperol. The waiter charged us €27.80 for this. Since I was in a hurry, I paid and left the restaurant immediately. Afterwards I realized that this price for two drinks couldn't be justified. Such a deviation is unacceptable. I strongly recommend checking the invoice carefully before paying.

It's reassuring to know that with a bit of culinary alchemy, one can salvage even the most puzzling of pasta dishes. ★ Summary In conclusion, if you're seeking an unconventional dining experience that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about Italian cuisine, this restaurant is the place for you! Wir hatten Glück, dass wir bei sonnigem Wetter, einen Tisch draußen bekamen. Aber es hat länger gedauert, bis dass wir bestellen konnten. Niemand fühlte sich für uns zuständig, obwohl sie mit leeren Tabletts durch die Gegend liefen. Kaffee und Kuchen waren in Ordnung. Sonst war es in Ordnung. Nichts, wo ich gezielt hingehen, oder auf einen freien Tisch warten würde.

Food inadequately prepared! The request for correction was received by a female waiter, then a male and very dominant employee came and claimed that there was nothing to correct. Had to pay full price and were intimidated by the employee!!!!

Service is top, ambience is top, food still has room for improvement (taste).

Simply a cozy bistro to feel good and chill out. Our favorite place for brunch in summer. Friendly service, pleasant crowd and food at fair prices. Plus chill music.

The café itself is very pretty, but it smells distinctly of cold smoke. That's pretty gross. The service was nice. Unfortunately, the shakshuka was terrible. The eggs were discolored blue/black in places and had a strange consistency, I couldn't eat them. They were also completely cooked through - normally the egg yolk in a Shakshuka is still liquid. The sugo was very bland and without the typical spices. The coffee was good, but I definitely won't eat here again.

I was with my husband for breakfast. The bread was not fresh and the ingredients were of poor quality.

I think the location is very nice. The meal “goat cheese on salad” was unfortunately a very sad dish and far too overpriced. The service was almost non-existent.

Was für ein schönes "altes" Café! Ein herrlicher Tresen, hohe Räume, Erhöhung im Gastbereich. So schön und gemütlich! Zudem ausgesprochen freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, leckerer Kuchen und Kaffee. Sehr gerne wieder!

Wir waren zu 7 dort zum Frühstück (hatten reserviert). 6 von uns haben direkt bestellt und einer von uns 5 min später. Das Frühstück für uns 6 kam nach ca. 45 min erst vollständig an (erst der Käse Teller, dann der Kaffee, dann der Joghurt, die Brötchen und dann erst das Besteck). Einen extra Teller zum Brötchen beschmieren gab es nicht. Der Belag-Teller war sehr Not dürftig ausgestattet mit abgezählt 4 Scheiben Käse, die am Rand schon hart waren. Die abgepackte Marmelade und die Butter waren lieblos im Brötchenkorb verteilt. Dass wir Start Honig Nutella wollten, wurde gekonnt ignoriert. Die Rühreier von allen waren kalt. Nachdem 6 von uns dann fertig waren mit dem Frühstück lies das letzte Frühstück immernoch auf sich warten. Nach einer Nachfrage, wurde zwar der Belagteller serviert, aber die Brötchen nach 2h immernoch nicht. Als wir das reklamierten gab es nur die Ausrede, es sei viel los (keinerlei Entschuldigung).

Wenn man kein Frühstück bekommen möchte, sollte man dort hingehen. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 10 Leuten vor Ort und wollten Frühstücken. Die Teller waren nicht sonderlich angerichtet, der Käse war an den Rändern schon hart, das Rührei kalt, der O-Saft war wohl auch schon länger offen und das Servicepersonal war absolut unfreundlich. Eine Person hatte 2min später bestellt als der Rest und hat dafür 1h später ihren Belag bekommen. Auf Nachfrage gab es dann immer noch keine Brötchen, weshalb das Frühstück auch zurück ging. Wer sich schönen Brunch verspricht, sollte auf jedenfall wo anders hingehen.
