Food good - service... well, read for yourselves. We were here on December 7th with a party of seven. We called ahead and specifically asked for vegan dishes. The owner's response: "Sure, for example, dumplings and red cabbage, we'll find something!" It started with ordering drinks. My wife ordered a sweet white wine. The server left and returned shortly after, saying, "Unfortunately, we don't have any sweet white wine!" My wife then opted for a sweet red wine. And: the same thing happened – no sweet red wine. Reluctantly, my wife chose a semi-dry white wine, which then arrived. Servers should know which wines they have and which they don't. It continued when we ordered the main courses. My son asked for a recommendation for a vegan dish. The server raised her eyebrows and said, "Oh, that will be difficult, we don't have anything vegan, only vegetarian!" We pointed out that we had specifically called ahead to confirm and that this couldn't be right. The waitress disappeared, saying, "I'll double-check!" She returned a short time later, shook her head, and repeated, "The chef says we don't have any vegan dishes!" We told the server very clearly that we had spoken to the owner on the phone beforehand and she had told us that "we'll find something!" The server left, saying, "I'll ask the owner!" And suddenly it was possible to serve boiled potatoes and roasted vegetables for my son. The food was delicious, no question. But we also ran into difficulties when ordering dessert: My wife wanted tiramisu. Unfortunately, they didn't have any. Well, that can happen on a Sunday evening after a weekend, although: it's homemade, at least that's what it says on the menu... My sister ordered a warm Amaretto with cream, and my wife followed suit. The server didn't recognize it either. We had to show it to her on the menu. She said, "I don't know that, no one's ever ordered that before!" My father wanted a raspberry liqueur and ordered a "Nordhäuser Himbeergeist" according to the menu. She looked at him completely bewildered. I showed her on the menu, and she wrote it down. In the end, all I wanted to do was... I wanted to know what was behind "chocolate wine," which was also on the menu. And again: she shrugged, said, "Chocolate wine? Where does it say that?" "I've never heard of that!" I didn't even want to ask any more questions... After we had all finished eating, my wife went to the counter to pay. She wanted to give the server some feedback. The owner was sitting at the next table and interrupted the feedback conversation. She, the owner, was sick and had come especially for us, and it was so exhausting when you're sick. Regarding the vegan option: tofu doesn't taste good at all, and they had already tried a vegan version and had to throw away a lot. And then she suggested the dish "potatoes with vegetables" to the chef, and so on. Our conclusion: It was our first and last visit to Grundstein. The food was tasty, but the service was terrible. Servers should know what's on the menu and what's available. We also expected that, given all the discussion, either the chef or the owner would have come to our table and simply asked if we were satisfied. And feedback should be accepted without having to explain oneself or playing the victim ("I'm just..."). sick....!").

The visit to this restaurant was consistently positive. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptional commitment of the landlady, who intensively addressed individual intolerances and offered suitable alternatives. The service was attentive, well-organized, and very friendly. We felt welcome and well looked after. A clear recommendation for anyone who values ​​personal attention and attentive service.

It looks great, but unfortunately, you don't get served for ages. The food wasn't good either. I had hand cheese with music. It wasn't really magic, but the hand cheese was hard.

The restaurant is located in a village community center and has a rather old-fashioned ambiance. While there are a few modern elements, the overall impression is somewhat dated. Unfortunately, there are many crates of drinks lying around in the entrance area, which doesn't look very inviting. The table setting is simple, and a coherent overall concept isn't evident. The staff was friendly but not particularly attentive. They didn't actively ask if everything was okay, and part of the order (a side salad) was simply forgotten. This was rectified, but shouldn't really happen when the restaurant isn't busy. The food itself was a mixed bag: The children's portion of pasta was generous and well-received. The salad with "gratinated" feta cheese was a bit disappointing – the cheese was merely warm, not truly gratinated, and the portion was rather small for the price. The salmon in dill sauce was barely seasoned and tasted like a ready-made sauce; the fish seemed frozen, and the potatoes were undercooked. The schnitzel with pepper cream sauce also seemed more like a convenience product, and the requested side dish (spätzle) wasn't available. Overall, the food was mediocre in terms of taste – okay, but there was room for improvement in terms of quality and craftsmanship. Another point of criticism concerns the payment options: Unfortunately, card payments aren't accepted, which isn't really up-to-date these days. A neighboring table paid in cash – however, the waiter didn't have enough change and asked other guests to contribute small coins. I personally found that unpleasant. If you're going to rule out card payments, you should at least have sufficient change on hand at all times. Especially because you rarely know exactly how much the bill will be in advance, €50 or even €100 bills are not uncommon. Conclusion: The restaurant has potential, especially for simple dining in a village setting, but there's still significant room for improvement in terms of ambiance, service, cuisine, and organization. Card payments and professional handling of cash should be standard practice today.

There are much better alternatives in the region with more hospitality and a sense of service.

In the end, we received the side dishes we expressly didn't want. We then ordered the food to go. The bag was simply rudely placed in front of us. No one asked us if we wanted to pay. We had to go back to the restaurant ourselves to let them know. In the kitchen, you could hear the employees arguing loudly – ​​it could even be heard outside on the terrace. Other guests also had problems because the wrong food was brought. When they politely addressed this, it was immediately dismissed as a "complaint," even though they just wanted to eat what they had ordered. Overall, everything seemed extremely disorganized, chaotic, and unfriendly. Other guests also had to go inside to pay because no one was coming outside. It's a shame, the food was good – but the service was truly disappointing.

We were here for lunch. Daily changing dishes are offered. We had chicken soup as a starter, roast beef with red cabbage and dumplings and cake for dessert. The chicken soup tasted like grandma's and the rest was also very tasty. It remains a mystery to me how this can be offered for 9.90. It would be desirable if the weekly menu was updated weekly on the website and more regional wines were offered. One of the best wine regions is right on your doorstep. We'll definitely be back.

The goose leg was no longer like a soup chicken, there was no taste at all, the dumplings were very bad, not homemade, the steak was good but gave me a stomach ache all night... my schnitzel was two round ones, not even 1/2 cm thin, from the fryer... just cheap and fatty ...about the ambience...very, very loud in the room...the food wasn't worth the money...we were completely disappointed with everything.

Typical German restaurant with polite, dialect-speaking staff. Child-friendly, there is a separate children's menu. Please pre-order at Christmas time as space is limited. Goose fat with bread and salad as a starter. Choice of goose legs or goose breast, with dumplings and red cabbage. Dumplings each with a bread roll and a potato dumpling. Sauce with chestnuts. Everything fresh and homemade. The food is hot and very good in taste. We didn't have dessert because we were full. Since I don't eat that much and couldn't manage the portions, upon request I was given a container to take the rest with me. Please note opening times. We can recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience. We will definitely eat there again. Maybe in the summer too.

The host made a reservation there for the first time and pre-ordered 2 goose mixes. We didn't know the restaurant. I am severely disabled and was received very kindly and was given every help. the food was excellent and the staff was competent and very friendly. You couldn't complain about the price. The price-performance ratio is okay. At the restaurant there was also a large children's playground and a very nice beer garden, which we didn't really want to use due to the weather and in November. Parking spaces were right next to the restaurant. I can only recommend everyone to visit the restaurant. we were completely satisfied.

When the salad finally came, it was placed on the table rather carelessly. The waitress didn't seem very friendly, which further marred our experience. I was there as a tourist and wanted to go to a well-rated restaurant to have something to drink. Definitiv Nein! Wir hatten für den 25.12.23 um 18 Uhr zwei Plätze reserviert. Als wir kamen hat NIX gepasst. -Parkplatz Stock-dunkel -unser Name stand nicht auf der Liste! Aber egal -wir bekamen einen kleinen Tisch im Eck neben der Gefriertruhe mit einem wackeligen Stuhl (obwohl noch etliche Tische + ca. 30 Polsterstühle frei waren und blieben) Auf meine Frage ob ich den Stuhl tauschen könnte mit einem besseren hieß es :"klar, ist egal" und ICH musste die Stühle selber austauschen! - wir wollten 2 Weihnachtsmenü. Das Aperitif (1 Glas Sekt pro Person) kam erst zum Essen! Vorspeise war eine Steinpilzsuppe ohne Brot, Hauptspeise hatte ich ein Rumpsteak mit Kräuterbutter (an der noch ein Stück Folie der Verpackung dran war) mit Pommes (leider ohne Beilagesalat, nicht einmal als Deko ne Gurkenscheibe) und mein Freund hatte 1 kleine Rinderroulade (Daumen groß) mit 2 Löffel Rotkraut und 2 Fertigklöße mit etwas Sauce. Das alles für 29,90€ pro Essen! Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. Es war überteuert, es war zu wenig essen für das Geld, es hat an Weihnachtsstimmung gefehlt ... Als die Bedienung zur Rechnung fragte ob alles ok war und mein Freund äußerte das 1 Roulade doch etwas wenig war, entschuldigte sie sich und teilte es wohl dem Wirt mit. Man hörte die Empörung über unsere Kritik bis zu unserem Tisch. Sie kam dann mit einer zusätzlichen Roulade zum mit nach Hause nehmen zurück. Für das Geld hätten wir woanders besser essen können. Sehr schade das wir gerade an Weihnachten so ein Reinfall erleben mussten. Alles in allem absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

Wir waren am 25.12. zu viert in diesem Restaurant. Reserviert war für 13 Uhr. Schon beim Eintreten ist aufgefallen dass im Eingangsbereich Essen zum Abholen ausgegeben wurde. Das alleine ist ja erst einmal nichts schlimmes. Bis wir Getränke bestellen konnten verging erst einmal eine Halbe Stunde. Bis wir essen bestellen konnten eine weitere halbe, wir haben also alleine eine Stunde gewartet um überhaupt essen bestellen zu können. Nach fast 1,45 stunden hatten 3 von 4 noch nicht einmal ihren Vorspeisensalat. Nach geschlagenen 2 Stunden kam dann das Essen während im Eingangsbereich eifrig das Essen zum abholen ausgegeben wurde. Teilweise 6 Gänsebrüste auf einmal. Während man als Gast im Restaurants wartete und wartete und wartete. In der Zeit bestellten wir nocheinmal Getränke die gar nicht erst kamen. Nach dem Essen wurden wir gefragt ob alles in Ordnung war worauf hin wir sagten ja außer die Wartezeit. Von der ich nehme an Chefin kam daraufhin kein Wort der Entschuldigung, im Gegenteil man wurde in pampigem Ton darauf hingewiesen dass das normal sei und Wartezeiten auch von 3 Stunden völlig normal seien und man hätte ja immerhin auch einen Sekt und Gänseschmalz bekommen. Beides war in dem Weihnachtsmenü sowieso inbegriffen und ist daher mit Sicherheit keine Entschuldigung für die Wartezeit. Alles in allem waren die Bedienungen heillos überfordert man hat sich wohl mit dem normalen Restaurantbetrieb und dem Essen zum abholen maßlos übernommen aber statt sich für Unannehmlichkeiten zu entschuldigen bekam man eine alles andere als freundliche Antwort. Für uns war es nach dieser Frechheit sicher das letzte mal und für einige andere Gäste sicher auch.

Sehr schön eingerichteter Gastraum, modern aber nicht zu übertrieben. Das Essen wurde, da wir nur kleine Portionen schaffen, auf 3 Personen geteilt, was kein Problem darstellte. Vielen Dank. Die Gans, Knödel und Rotkraut haben wunderbar geschmeckt. Wir werden das bestimmt wiederholen.

Plane schon den nächsten Besuch mit einer Freundin. Ich war selbst zu Corona Zeiten dort und habe mir das Gänsemenü geholt.

Super leckeres Essen, schönes Restaurant mit großer Terrasse, sehr Familiefreundlich, da sich gleich nebenan ein liebevoll gestalteter großer Spielplatz befindet, außerdem gibt es in Sichtnähe ein Basketballnetz, so daß die Kinder die Wartezeit auf das Essen überbrücken können und die Erwachsenen auch nach dem Essen noch Zeit zum genießen haben. Das Personal ist super nett und geht flexibel auf die Wünsche der großen und kleinen Gäste ein. Wir genießen immer wieder den Besuch

Wir hatten für Sonntag 2 Plätze zum Mittagstisch reserviert. Die Mitarbeiterinnen sind freundlich und flott unterwegs. Wir hatten das Löwenschnitzel gewählt und waren sehr zufrieden. Preis-/Leistung passt.

Für familien ein tolles Restaurant. Neben an ist ein großer Spielplatz. Das Essen ist gut und das Personal ist durchwegs freundlich. Dort kann man auch draußen sitzen.

Ich gehe gerne dort hin. Regionale Produkte zu gerechten Preisen. Besonders die Steakvariationen sind bestens.

Eine wunderschöne Gegend, mit tollen alten Gebäuden und Häusern Bauernhöfen sehr Ruheausstrahlend und dann noch super Essen mit sehr freundlichen Personal mehr geht nicht.

Endlich wieder gute Gastronomie auf der Hessenaue, hier hat jemand verstanden worauf es ankommt. Nett, lecker, gute Auswahl. Hier geh ich auch als Vegetarier gerne hin.

Wir waren mit der Familie an einem Sonntag zum Mittagessen dort. Bis auf die lange Wartezeit,bis das Essen fertig war( bedingt durch so viele Gäste),war alles super gut! Das Essen war mega,die Vorspeisen waren so reichlich,das wir schon fast satt waren. Die Hauptspeisen waren einfach nur klasse und ebenso riesig wie die Eisbecher danach.Alles in Allem ein riesen Lob an die Mitarbeiter,die wirklich viel zu tun hatten und trotzdem immer freundlich waren und auch zuvorkommend.toll fand ich den Umgang der zwei Servierkräfte(ich weiss leider Eure Namen nicht) mit den Kindern.vielen Dank an Euch!! Toll war auch,das die Kinder sich frei bewegen konnten auf der Wiese,so daß die Wartezeit nicht langweilig wurde! Von mir und meiner Familie 5 Sterne!!!

Wir waren schon oft und gerne hier, leider waren wir bei unserem letzten Besuch doch arg enttäuscht. Der Aussenbereich (Biergarten) wirkte ungepflegt. Das Essen, ( Schnitzel mit Beilage und Salat ) für 20 Euro war das Geld nicht im Ansatz wert. Spargelsuppe wohl mit geriebenen Kartoffen angedickt ? Der Grundsteinteller war OK aber 2 angetrocknete Brotscheiben mit einer Miniportion Butter dazu schon arg mau.

Wir gehen regelmäßig in die Hessestubb in Wallerstädten essen (u.a auch Mittagtisch). Haben die geänderten Sommer Öffnungszeiten übersehen und standen vor verschlossener Tür. Man schickte uns zur Gaststätte am Grundstein. Mein Mann wollte erst um die Ecke zum Italiener aber ich habe ihn überredet. 7 Minuten Fahrt, was ist das schon. WIR haben es nicht bereut! Man sitzt gemütlich im Biergarten - Das Essen war sehr lecker 😋 die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und die Bestellung kam wirklich schnell. Kann die negativen Bewertungen diesbezüglich nicht nachvollziehen. Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Das Ambiente toppt Wallerstädten 👍
