Berggasthof Moritzberg in Röthenbach a.d.Pegnitz

Super idyllisch, perfekt mit Kindern weil ein schöner schattiger Spielplatz wartet. Die Betreiber sind zudem sehr Kinderfreundlich. Es ist insgesamt sehr viel Platz aussen und gemütlich, genügend Schattenplätze. Man muss beachten dass man nicht direkt hinfahren kann und der Weg etwas steil ist. Es herrscht Selbstbedienung. Das Essen war nicht überragend, aber insgesamt ein wirklich toller Biergarten den wir gerne wieder besuchen werden 😊

Zum ersten und leider zum letzten Mal dagewesen!!! Essen schmeckt überhaupt nicht, teuer und keine Kartenzahlung möglich. Ich hab ein Schäufele mit Kloß und Soße bestellt. Die Bedienung war wirklich auf zack und nett muss ich sagen. Sternchen dafür. Allerdings erwarte ich in einer 400 Jahre alten Traditionsgaststätte, die mit "ausschließlich natürlichen Zutaten", "wie zu Omas Zeiten" und mit "hoher Qualität und erlesenen Geschmack" ihre Speisen auf der Website wirbt definitiv keinen Fertigkloß, Fertigsauce aus der Industrieküche mit wahrscheinlich auch noch einer menge Konserwirungsstoffe und co. Auch die Sauce schmeckte komisch. Leider habe ich auch mein Essen nicht ganz so vertragen. Optisch sah es ja ganz ansprechend aus. Auch für schlappe 17,90€ war die Portion doch recht klein (sonst schaffe ich nie eine Portion Schäufele). Hinweise, dass nur Bargeld akzeptiert wird, haben wir leider nicht wahrnehmen können (war viel zu klein auf einem Zettel neben den Speisekarten gestanden, was wir natürlich auch nicht von unserem Tisch aus lesen konnten. Auf der Speisekarte, wäre hier ein Verbesserungsvorschlag, würde es jeder definitiv lesen können. Wir mussten also wieder runter vom Berg, mit dem Auto einen Bargeldautomaten suchen und wieder hoch laufen. Eine Zumutung für Gäste! Wir hatten andere Bezahloptionen vorgeschlagen, denn zahlungswillig waren wir ja. Alles wurde abgelehnt (kein Paypal, Rechnung, Sofortüberweisung per Banküberweisung ect.) So durften wir nochmal insgesamt 1,5 Stunden wandern. Fazit: Wir hatten uns einen wunderschönen Muttertag vorgestellt (lasst euch Mütter bei uns verwöhnen hieß es dort auf der Tafel) Die Leute kommen definitiv nur wegen dem Ambiente. Essen hat in meinen Augen nichts mit kochen zu tun. Sehr schade!

Ein Besuch, am Muttertag,den wir uns hätten sparen können. Für stolze 18 Euro erhielten wir eine einzige Roulade, die viel zu klein, zäh und völlig geschmacksneutral war. Die Soße war schrecklich und es gab lediglich einen einzigen Kloß dazu. Besonders ärgerlich: Wir konnten live beobachten, wie die Klöße vakuumverpackt aus der Tüte kamen – bei diesem Preis eine Frechheit und entspricht nicht den Angaben auf der Webseite von frischer Küche! Einzig das Rotkraut war in Ordnung. Dazu kommt ein unterirdischer Service in Sachen Zahlung: Da keinerlei bargeldlose Zahlung (keine Karte, kein PayPal, keine Überweisung) akzeptiert wurde, mussten wir 20 Minuten den Berg hinunterlaufen, eine Bank suchen und wieder hochsteigen, um die Rechnung zu begleichen. Das ist absolut nicht mehr zeitgemäß und bei diesen Preisen eine Zumutung für jeden Gast. Nie wieder!

Eine schöne Location, leider hatten wir mit dem Essen Pech (das Geschnetzelte mit Spätzle war komplett fad, sowohl Fleisch, Spätzle als auch Sauce)

Keine Kartenzahlung möglich. In der heutigen Zeit wohl eher weniger sinnig. Angeblich steht das überall, aber auch beim Rückweg kein „überall“ gefunden

Waren hier mit einer großen Gruppe und das Essen kam für alle ziemlich gleichzeitig, Pluspunkt dafür. Die Bedienung war auch freundlich. Leider war das Essen ziemlich fad. Besonders das Putengeschnetzelte. Und auch die Käsespätzle, die vor allem ohne Rostzwiebeln waren (entgegen der Karte), darauf angesprochen hieß es "sind aus" und hätte sie leider vergessen dazu zu sagen, ich hätte dann etwas anderes genommen, und sonst gewürzt waren sie auch nicht, oder Pfeffer dazu, etc. Außen ist es sehr schön, zwischen Bäumen, Spielplatz gibt es auch. Würde aber nur für ein (Weg-)Bier halten und nicht zum Essen.

Tolles Ausflugsziel und mit tollen leckeren Essen, immer eine Einkehr wert.

Es war das Osterwochenende, das Wetter war bewölkt aber beständig, noch etwas kühl, es waren einige Gäste da, aber durch die Jahreszeit natürlich noch Recht wenig los, im Sommer ist es sehr überlaufen, aber dennoch schön, es gibt einen Spielplatz für Kinder und das Essen/die Getränke haben wir sehr zügig bekommen. Gerne wieder

Netter Berggasthof auf dem Moritzberg. Leider sehr oft überlaufen. Großer Aussenbereich. Diesmal mitten in der Woche in der Mittagszeit waren wir zu zweit ganz allein in der Gaststube. Das Essen war lecker wie immer, die Bedienung sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Toiletten befinden sich im Nebengebäude. Eine klare Empfehlung

Waren nur auf Kaffee und Kuchen da, der hausgemachte Käsekuchen war vorzüglich!

Wir waren heute Samstag um 17:30 Uhr da, war aber schon zu. Obwohl in Internet stand offen. Und Mann muss circa 800 meter laufen.

Wir hatten eine kleine Familienfeier am 1 Februar in dem Gasthof mit 20 Personen plus Kinder und Hunde. Es hat jedem sehr gut gefallen. Essen war hervorragend 😋😋 Die Bedienung sehr freundlich und nett. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen. Wir kommen wieder lG Wolfgang

Nach dem Ausflug war es richtig schön dort einzukehren. Bedienung super nett, Essen wie Scheuferle oder Rinderbraten mit Meerrettich Soße sehr lecker. :-). Kommen gern wieder. P.s. Der Kaiserschmarrn war leider zu wenig für dem Preis und eher nach Fertiggericht :-( sorry für die Offenheit.

Ich möchte mich herzlich für den wunderschönen Abend am 10.12.25 bedanken. Auch im Namen meiner Begleitung. Eure Schäufele waren mega lecker und perfekt auf den Punkt gebracht. Auch Euer Silvaner war super lecker. Er war schon fast zu gut, um noch nach Hause zu fahren 😁. Euer Restaurant ist sehr urig und wunderbar gemütlich eingerichtet. Alles war zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit. Wir bedanken uns auch sehr dafür, das wir zu vorgerückter Stunde noch den Turm besuchen durften. Mit Eurer Erlaubnis habt ihr uns angenehm überrascht. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, und empfehlen Euer Restaurant uneingeschränkt weiter. Bis bald mal wieder ....... 🤩

Kleine gemütliche Gaststätte mit guter Küche. Allerdings darf man sich nicht wundern wenn es ab 13.00 Uhr nicht mehr alles gibt was auf der kleinen Tageskarte steht. Leckeres Essen und aufmerksamer Service wird auf jeden Fall geboten. Bitte beachten. Vom Parkplatz sind es ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß, zum Teil mit ordentlicher Steigung. Aber der Weg lohnt sich.

Nice location. Unfortunately, we couldn't eat anything because it's closed on Tuesdays. I would expect the hosts to respect everyone, male and female, equally. The pictogram to the right of the restroom door suggests otherwise.

Unfortunately, we can't post anything positive... We wanted to have a delicious meal here... but since August 25, 2025, we've been closed until September 16, 2025... unfortunately, there's nothing to read about it online... very, very, very annoying 😡

So for 18.90, you already got a larger scoop on your plate. But it's already been done. For service, only a * because it's self-service.

Moritzberg itself is always worth a hike. The restaurant and its operators still have a lot to learn... Even if the church fair is simply postponed for purely economic reasons (which, of course, always involves several parties, such as the church and the town of Röthenbach), all food must be available at least until 10:30 a.m., even with very few visitors. It's unacceptable that the white sausages are already sold out by then. (At least the line at the counter quickly cleared up.) Alternatively, a bratwurst roll for €5.50... Unfortunately, the rolls used were at least from yesterday and had been baked. Absolutely not. Conclusion... Beautiful hike in perfect weather. Best if you're self-catering.

Unfriendly service. The food had no seasoning. I wanted to order something for my little one, but there were neither fries nor mashed potatoes. I can't recommend it.

A quaint inn with a beer garden run by two very friendly owners. Perfect for a stopover after a strenuous climb.

It's simply beautiful up there. Everything is fantastic!

A cozy beer garden surrounded by greenery, easily accessible via a short but steep hike from the Moritzberg parking lot, and easily combined with a longer hike through beautiful nature. The menu is very small; the liver dumpling soup starter and Bavarian cream dessert taste relatively ordinary. The main courses, however, are excellent: schnitzel and bratwurst are excellent, but the absolute highlight is the baked liver. However, the portions are all quite small, especially the side dishes. Hot food is served all day; we are almost the only guests in the afternoon, and we are served accordingly quickly. The restrooms are well-maintained, although the facilities are obviously older.

A very beautiful, traditional inn. Unfortunately, the outdoor area has become increasingly disrepaired.

Unfortunately, card payments aren't accepted, and the German flag flying is a bit off-putting. It's actually obvious that we're in Germany, and as far as I know, there wasn't an international competition going on, and it's probably not German Unity Day either. A colorful flag for community, diversity, tolerance, and solidarity would be more inviting. But they have friendly operators, good food, and a playground, and the prices are reasonable for today's standards and the quality offered. Thank you very much for that.

The atmosphere was perfectly fine, as always. The music was really good too. But sorry, folks. €8.90 for a small plate of sausage with music? Those are some seriously good prices. Coke and water together, no deposit... €9.

Prices are unfortunately abysmally high these days... a mini portion of Kaiserschmarren and a 0.33l Coke for €12... sausage salad on a cake plate for €8.90. Unfortunately, it wasn't even tasty. Drinks were also too expensive for a self-service beer garden. The beer benches and tables were in a terrible state. Today, on Father's Day, at least there was good music and the staff were friendly. Will our large group be back?!? Not really; it's lost its good reputation.

The Moritzberg belongs to Middle Franconia, like the Stadtwurscht and the Schäuferle.

Moritzberg is worth a hike, it's a shame that the observation tower is overgrown and you only have trees in front of you, you go for the view of the mountain

The mountain inn deserves five stars! The staff is always super nice, today there were three super nice waitresses there again! The bratwursts are always great, but today the cabbage was somehow almost fresh. It was probably already out before that...

Got raw sour bratwursts (Sour Zipfel). That can happen. However, when I complained, I was told that the pink color came from the meat through the broth. My concern was not addressed. A solution was only found by a capable service employee.

Very nice restaurant, only accessible on foot. Great location for celebrations in a rustic, cozy atmosphere. Service very good, considering the large number of guests, respect!

An idyll in the middle of nature.

Full, tight, good, that's within normal limits. But poorly to barely ventilated, stuffy. There are hardly any drinks on the menu. Dirty and sticky table, heavily soiled seats. We left again. Disappointing.

Very nice, historic mountain inn. We are with 30 people. Hiked to the Moritzberg, 4 tables were reserved for us in the next room, the service for the drinks was quick, but unfortunately they hardly had any roast meat or other food left (the roast beef was out) because they were closed the next day. The roast pork was unfortunately tasteless, apart from the herb edge. The Kaiserschmarrn was good, the Zoigl beer was very tasty. There are several music evenings throughout the year. But when it comes to eating, you really shouldn't rest on the fact that the guests are coming anyway... I don't know if I want to eat here again, which is a shame.

Very cozy excursion inn that can only be reached on foot. The Schäuferle and the bratwurst are highly recommended.

Perfect place for a break on the Moritzberg while hiking or mountain biking.

Very nice, rustic excursion restaurant on the Moritzberg. The climb is a bit difficult, but worth it. The Bauernstube (the dining room) is practically an open-air museum. Totally lovingly furnished and really old. The innkeepers are super nice, open and friendly. There is also a very nice beer garden in summer, but the restaurant is also open in the winter months. There is a parking space, but it's still a bit uphill from there. But you can also do well in e.g. B. Reuth park and hike up in about 40 minutes.

We had my birthday party at Moritzberg last weekend. What can I say? Great ambience, great food and great service Many thanks to Bina and everyone else. The musicians were also just great!

Small, cozy restaurant, almost like being on a mountain pasture.

A historic mountain inn surrounded by forest. After a leisurely climb up the Moritzberg, we stopped here at the mountain inn for refreshment. Since we didn't eat, I'll only rate the ambience and staff here. The mountain inn consists of a historic building with a beer garden. The restaurant in the building makes a very cozy impression. There is an old church next door, everything is surrounded by dense forest, so it's almost like sitting in a courtyard. The atmosphere is definitely very cozy. If you want to sit in the beer garden, place your order at the kitchen window. We sat down in a small greenhouse in the beer garden, which offers protection in the wet and cold season if you want to sit in the beer garden. I think it's a great idea. The boss of the house then asked us to work with him to set up another greenhouse, so that a total of two of these houses now offer a dry place for around 10 - 14 people. The staff was very friendly overall, so I would come back at any time.

Rustic inn at the top of the Moritzberg. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy a gigantic view from the tower of the Nuremberg region and Nuremberg

Simply very beautiful. Stopping here on the hike is really highly recommended. Hearty meals, freshly prepared. In the lovingly comfortably furnished dining room with fireplace. We enjoyed it very much.

Celebrated with around 20 people (this time) in the beautifully decorated side room. Absolutely recommended, cozy, all culinary wishes fulfilled. Service professional, “warmly rustic” and attentive. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Many thanks to the whole team for the successful celebration.

We ordered some bratwurst who did not arrive after 20mins and we had to ask several times for it. The quality of the food was very poor. The beer was very nice and it is a beautiful spot to walk to.

Beautiful inn on the Moritzberg with very good food and drink, idyllic beer garden framed by the chapel and the observation tower. Always friendly and relaxed service. There are many ways to get to the mountain, each path has something special. And after the climb you look forward even more to the delicious food and drink.

I have visited the mountain inn very often. Friendly service even when the entire beer garden is full. Delicious, regional food at an upscale price. You can sit here in the nice shade under the trees in the middle of nature on the Moritzberg. Therefore, in my opinion, a higher price is justified. At the weekend, a table reservation is an advantage because there are many cyclists and hikers.

After 500m from the parking lot along a steep street to the beer garden, good food and cool drinks reward the effort. Nice shady spots, prices a little more expensive than the last visit. But that's generally the case. Nice: Consistently warm food, so you don't have to pay attention to the clock, just your stomach :o)

Of course, as a “local,” I know the Moritzberg and its inn very well from my childhood. Still been up there for the first time in many years. Beautiful little beer garden in the ensemble between the inn and church. Friendly operators, because there is no service in the actual sense, as it is self-service with a “vibrator”. The menu is very manageable, but sufficient for the location. Ordered schnitzel with potato and mixed salad. Short waiting time. Nicely prepared. Taste perfect, quantity OK. Too expensive at €16.70 due to self-service. Therefore no more points. Unfortunately, one generally has to say that the catering industry is currently dismantling itself: Like me, more and more people are cooking for themselves. Unfortunately, the observation tower was not open.

The beer garden is really very nice, the menu only offered pork plus Kässpatzen and Kaiserschmarrn and the bratwursts were terribly bad. It's unbelievable that there are such bad bratwursts in Franconia. Unfortunately we weren't happy with the food.

Today we were at the Berggasthof Moritzberg after riding our bikes up. The inn has a rustic interior and also a small, beautiful beer garden. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly and accommodating. The menu is small but nice and there are also additional daily/weekly specials apart from the regular menu if you ask. Price-performance ratio is definitely right here. If you are ever in the area, stop by the inn. We can absolutely recommend him.

If you're in the mood for a steak roll for 8 euros or want to enjoy an outrageously small portion of sauerkraut for 4.50 €... you've come to the right place... if it at least tasted good... the steak was almost smaller than the dried out Kaiser roll in which it was lying....also worth mentioning is the city sausage with music (I think for 11€)...well I mean the meat sausage with water...because unfortunately there wasn't much music... In any case, it's a clever business model up there...a steep climb where you can exert yourself and then get ripped off at the top...Moritzberg won't see us again.....

If you fancy a beer for €5.50 and a bratwurst roll for €6, this is the place for you.

We were very happy that this beer garden was also open during the week. It's just nice to be able to stop off after a hike. Everything was clean, the service was very friendly and quick and the prices were absolutely right.

The outdoor spaces are very nice and protected by parasols. The playground is large and children can play there safely. Unfortunately we sat inside and there wasn't enough space for the number of people there were. The Schäufele was good, the sauce was too thin and the dumpling unfortunately sat in the pot a little too long. The schnitzel was very good. Unfortunately not the beer. I actually like the Kitzinger, but it wasn't carbonated enough. The service was very attentive and friendly. All in all 3-4 stars. There is still room for improvement, but I would still try again.

A small, cozy old restaurant on the Moritzberg. There is a lookout tower, church and many hiking trails nearby. The restaurant offers good cuisine and there is a beer garden outside.

Home cooking. Schäuferle, Kaiserschmarrn and home-baked cheesecake are highly recommended. Gladly worth a visit again.

Spontaneous hike and stop, first outside, then inside in the cozy room. Delicious, freshly made sour bratwurst. Apparently there are a lot of regular guests, reservations are advisable for groups.

It's like being in a mountain hut. Very homely and cozy and always something going on. In summer the beer garden outside is also nice. Children's playground next door.
