Bensons Grill & Bar in Insel Poel

When we asked for a table reservation, the unfriendly information was given that nothing was offered for the people from the Ostseeklinik. I find it very rude and disrespectful.

The food was very tasty. There is a vintage bus in the restaurant that serves as a play area for children. Unfortunately, this is not really what the operator wants, as several children playing can get a little louder. The children are also interrupted while playing and asked to clean up. Guests from the mother-child clinic are turned away by telephone. Since we reserved our table online in advance, they couldn't refuse us. We were forced to be served. After the meal, it was made clear to us that we were not wanted and that the waitress would like to call it a day.

We were completely satisfied with the food. It's just that you felt very unwelcome. The staff made it clear to us that they didn't want us there. Since we are guests from a health clinic and would like to try something nearby, it's a shame.

I called today on the recommendation of an island resident and wanted to reserve a table for 10 people. We would have been two families. I was first asked what the reason for the reservation was, then I explained that it was supposed to be a family reunion. I was then asked whether I was in the neighboring town for a mother-child treatment, which I honestly (stupidly) answered in the affirmative. I was then immediately told that they would not accept spa guests with children. Which I actually find very sad and shameful. There are only two of me there with my daughter, but the fact that we are two families with five children is not allowed there. Unfortunately I have to give this one star because I couldn't describe my impressions otherwise. But unfortunately that's not hospitable in my opinion. It's a shame, we would have liked to try it

We spontaneously came here for dinner today and were lucky to get a table! Reservations in advance are highly recommended! We were here with our 4-year-old daughter and the service was very friendly! Very child-friendly staff, very tasty food, nice atmosphere and an absolute recommendation from us!! Many thanks to the service team for the friendly approach and the kitchen for the delicious burgers!

An eye-catcher is the old GDR police car that has been converted into a children's playground. Delicious food, friendly, pretty waitresses who quickly brought what you wanted, all at reasonable prices. Gladly again!

We went there for dinner today with our son and our dog. We both had the chicken god once with fries and once with sweet potato fries. The junior rice pudding with cinnamon and sugar. The burger was a dream 😍the sweet potato fries were really good and the rice pudding was really great. The service is super friendly, the atmosphere is really great. The children have a large play area and the dog was allowed to come into the restaurant and lie at the table. (even got a bowl of water). We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back on our next vacation. 😉

The external impression is deceptive. I wouldn't stop there when driving past. BUT we had read up on the www beforehand. The interior design can still be improved. We had the burgers: Burgermeister 🍔 double patty) and Verliebte Goat 🐐 with wedges. Food delicious 😋 and the staff attentive and friendly. Nice gimmick - service and payment at the push of a button on the cube. Everything was clean, including the sanitary facilities.

We wanted to go out to eat there today and made reservations in advance, but unfortunately we were sent away without being able to sit at the table because we had CHILDREN with us. We wanted to go there today with several moms from the Kur Klinik go out to eat at the end. But more than 6 children in the entire restaurant are not welcome there, even if they say they are very child-friendly. UNFORTUNATELY you cannot specify when making your online reservation whether you are an adult or bringing children with you, otherwise we would of course have indicated this. Since you can only specify a maximum of 6 people at the same time, we of course booked with several people. But it didn't seem right either. Even when we wanted to share with the families that there were "only" 6 kids there, we were told that they had thought about it again and didn't want ALL of us in the restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't understand why there is a good-looking children's play area in the restaurant...if you don't want these little guests there anyway. Unfortunately, our kids could only see them from a distance. Unfortunately very unprofessional. Then write it on your website right away!

As others have already written, Bensons looks rather inconspicuous from the outside. At the invitation of our dear Ulrike, we met there for dinner. Here's the first hint. It is advisable to reserve a table as the restaurant is very popular. Maren and her team are very nice and nimble. Nevertheless, take some time to eat because everything is freshly prepared. Note the small dice on the table. When you tap it with your finger, it lights up green and you call the operator. The furnishings are rustic and also have a play and painting corner for the little ones. An old B1000 from VoPo completes the ambience. Conclusion: Definitely recommended and to the team, thank you for the great time!

Actually deserves 0 stars. We were immediately expelled from the house due to the large number of children we had. Children not wanted, would rather forego income than serve 10 mothers with 10 children. Course participants unwelcome!

Yesterday we felt like V. (previous post), We were skeptical, had no success at two other restaurants and ended up here. That was the best thing that could have happened to us. Don't let appearances distract you! The food was absolutely delicious and made with a lot of love. There is a great selection of drinks and cocktails. The burgers were amazing! We'll definitely go again this week. Sure, things could be improved visually, but Rome wasn't built in a day. The staff is on the ball, very nice and patient. Top! Go there, enjoy it!

A very inconspicuous restaurant right next to the sports field. I have to admit that we had our doubts that the food there would be that good. Since it was a recommendation, we simply tested it. What can I say...they were the best burgers we've ever eaten in our lives. Insanely delicious! Highly recommended. We would eat there again and again and even take a short drive. Keep it up👍🏼

We've been to Poel once or twice every year for exactly 20 years now and it's only now that we've found Bensons - we should have gone in there much earlier. The atmosphere is exactly our thing, the two girls behind the counter are just nice and cool, you're immediately on your first name - that's exactly how we like it. The price of the food is absolutely okay, of course you can get food on the island for less money, but here every euro is definitely well spent. The quality of the food (we had the “Chicken God” burger with fries is just great, there wasn’t a crumb left. The fries were also 5 star in quality, just a dream. The completely uncomplicated interaction with the customers makes the two girls there very likeable, you really enjoy eating there. The nice chat along the way underlines the great feel-good atmosphere - dogs and children are also very welcome there (we didn't have either of them with us, but it came up during the small talk). Yes, we give it the 100% deserved 5 stars immediately and without discussion. We will continue to go on holiday to Poel every year (2025 has already been reserved!) and then have a delicious meal at Bensons at least once per holiday. We really hope that this gem of the island will be preserved - we can really recommend it to everyone, the burgers (and the rest as well) are simply brilliant - a big wow and a thank you to the friendly service, we will definitely be back!

Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food as we were sent away straight away because there was no room left. We had previously tried to make a reservation by phone. We tried several times but never received a response - so a reservation was not possible. It's a shame that the service here is so disorganized. If you don't accept reservations, this should at least be clearly communicated.

An exceptional restaurant! I was invited by friends and what can I say – it tasted fabulous! I had the burger with pear and goat cheese and have never eaten such a delicious creation. Someone really thought about it! I was also able to taste some of my friends’ food. You can tell that the cooking here is made with love. The service was also really perfect! I was there twice with my family (actually 3 times, once unfortunately there was no more room, but we made a reservation for 2 days later) the staff is super nice, I can only say wow about the castles and the homemade drinks, you can feel it all A lot of love is made, they are the best burgers I have ever eaten!!! The ambience is really nice. I think the idea of ​​simply sawing up ladders, hanging them on the ceiling and decorating them with all sorts of things is brilliant. The old B1000 as a children's playground brings back memories of old times. People please don't forget to look at the invoice, there is always a nice saying on it, this also applies to the staff's company clothing (e.g. the new one, team player) What else can I say? Keep it up, see you next year!!! Update: 1 year has passed and they are still the best burgers!!! This time I tried the one that appealed to me the least. They were really awesome. And one more thing, even though the Benson was packed, the politeness and calmness of the staff and the boss also deserved five stars in my opinion. So see you next year!!!

We had burgers, fries, sweet potato fries and children's spaghetti. Everything was great! The tomato sauce was great and the burgers were the tastiest we've had so far. Thanks also for the great children's area and the nice welcome even without a reservation.

Apparently you can't order takeaway food there. Other reviews here said they were able to take food with them. Maybe the owners should announce something like this somewhere and work on the friendliness, which has already been criticized here several times.

The service is generally very motivated and friendly. They came regularly to ask if everything was okay. I ordered the “Terrible Sven” Citizen together with sweet potato fries, as shown in the picture. The citizen was a delight in terms of taste. Everything tasted very carefully balanced and I really enjoyed it. The meat was very juicy and the salad also tasted very fresh. The tomatoes are powerful and not watery. The jalapenos gave the citizen a strong but good spiciness and the sweet potato fries complemented it well. The ambience is also fantastic. The store may not look like much from the outside, but when you walk in you can tell that people have put some thought into it. There is a really cool bus inside that children can also play in. Music is also played through the speakers, and the music was very good and wasn't too loud. The interior decoration is very detailed and beautifully decorated. In my opinion, the prices are also very fair considering that you get really good food here. If you're on vacation here and don't visit this store, you're definitely missing out. However, I would recommend a reservation.

Super tasty burgers. One of the best vegetarian burgers I've ever eaten. A mega children's corner where our 2 year old son was busy the whole time. Also good cocktails and very nice service.

I absolutely can't understand the positive reviews... super hungry, searched the internet, found this bar... opening hours until 11 p.m.... we were there at 8:51 p.m. Came in...no "hello".. just: "kitchen closing time".. Ok...I come from the restaurant myself. The kitchen never closed 2 hours before closing. Especially since some people got food... 🤷The mood there was stupid... when ordering drinks and also when serving. Absolutely not friendly...no idea if it was our fault... In any case, this was the first and last visit...what a shame.

As already posted, the food and service were really, really, really good. But we were shocked when we wanted and were able to pay with the card. There was a section in the card reader: tip 10%, 20% or 30% of the total amount or refuse. Since we had already prepared the tip, we pressed “refuse”. Which even gave me a strange feeling. At the time, I wasn't aware that there was such a thing, that you could deduct the tip straight from your card. It was better the way it was before, otherwise you feel under pressure. It is important to tip, but it must be voluntary.

I've traveled a lot around the world and love food. At Bensons yesterday I ate by far the best burger of my life (I'm over 40)!! I decided on the vegetarian version of Pollo Loco. It was divine. The location with a play area is great. Service was great!

We are here for the mother-child treatment and will certainly eat more meals here after our previous two stays. The food is fantastic and the waiting time is short, which is an important point with children. The staff is very friendly and attentive, asks how you are and is present. The “play corner” for the little ones is Well thought out, equipped with a variety of toys and a truly unique piece thanks to the vintage body of a minibus, which invites you to play inside. For the first time in my life, I had a relatively relaxed meal with my child because the child was simply happy to be able to keep himself busy. Parking is also easy and all in all, I wish I had this same restaurant at home :) 5 stars in all respects!

It was clear to us that we would have to expect longer waiting times, so we weren't shocked by the 8 p.m. pickup, we expected at least 60 minutes anyway, the store was full.

We went to the MuKi cure on Poel and wanted to reserve a table with 6 adults + 6 children of different ages, we were rejected because it would then have the feel of an “indoor playground” and no longer have the ambience of a restaurant, which I find simply unbelievable and discriminatory ! I can understand that “so many” children can be a nuisance for other guests, BUT!! We would have arrived right at opening time in the middle of the week!! It's a shame, anyone who advertises a play area should expect children!!

Tolles Essen, netter Service, alles top! Coole Inneneinrichtung. Wir bestellten 2 Burger und eine Kinderportion Spaghetti mit Tomatensoße. Die Spaghetti wurden von uns klein geschnitten für unser Kind🙈😬 Habe noch nie so einen guten Garnelenburger gegessen. Dazu gab es für mich Süßkartoffelpommes mit Chili-Cheese-Soße und für meinen Mann Onion-Rings mit Sour-Cream. Wir sind begeistert und alles hat gepasst 😍

Gutes Essen macht leider nicht alles aus, sofern man es überhaupt erhält, wenn das Personal auf Nachfrage empört und frech reagiert.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker. Die Burger sind frisch zubereitet mit vielen hausgemachten Saucen und vegetarischen Alternativen. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wahrscheinlich der hipste Laden auf der Insel :)

Tolle Spielecke für unsere Kleine. Service zügig, freundlich, gehen auf Extras ohne Murren ein. Gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Jetzt das Kernthema..... Essen. Burger haben interessante Namen. Ansonsten würde ich sagen Durchschnitt. Habe schon bedeutend bessere für den Preis gehabt und auch schon einige schlechtere. Steakhousepommes waren gut. Meine Chilly Cheese Pommes waren meiner Meinung wenig und es hatte nichts von Chilly.... Also nicht mal im Ansatz Schärfe Fazit.... Kann man mal machen. Aber eben nichts weltbewegendes.

Ich bin begeistert! Das Essen war wirklich gut, auf spezielle Wünsche wurde eingegangen..das Personal sehr freundlich und kompetent. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
