Bensons Grill & Bar in Insel Poel

Yesterday we felt like V. (previous post), We were skeptical, had no success at two other restaurants and ended up here. That was the best thing that could have happened to us. Don't let appearances distract you! The food was absolutely delicious and made with a lot of love. There is a great selection of drinks and cocktails. The burgers were amazing! We'll definitely go again this week. Sure, things could be improved visually, but Rome wasn't built in a day. The staff is on the ball, very nice and patient. Top! Go there, enjoy it!

A very inconspicuous restaurant right next to the sports field. I have to admit that we had our doubts that the food there would be that good. Since it was a recommendation, we simply tested it. What can I say...they were the best burgers we've ever eaten in our lives. Insanely delicious! Highly recommended. We would eat there again and again and even take a short drive. Keep it up👍🏼

We've been to Poel once or twice every year for exactly 20 years now and it's only now that we've found Bensons - we should have gone in there much earlier. The atmosphere is exactly our thing, the two girls behind the counter are just nice and cool, you're immediately on your first name - that's exactly how we like it. The price of the food is absolutely okay, of course you can get food on the island for less money, but here every euro is definitely well spent. The quality of the food (we had the “Chicken God” burger with fries is just great, there wasn’t a crumb left. The fries were also 5 star in quality, just a dream. The completely uncomplicated interaction with the customers makes the two girls there very likeable, you really enjoy eating there. The nice chat along the way underlines the great feel-good atmosphere - dogs and children are also very welcome there (we didn't have either of them with us, but it came up during the small talk). Yes, we give it the 100% deserved 5 stars immediately and without discussion. We will continue to go on holiday to Poel every year (2025 has already been reserved!) and then have a delicious meal at Bensons at least once per holiday. We really hope that this gem of the island will be preserved - we can really recommend it to everyone, the burgers (and the rest as well) are simply brilliant - a big wow and a thank you to the friendly service, we will definitely be back!

Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food as we were sent away straight away because there was no room left. We had previously tried to make a reservation by phone. We tried several times but never received a response - so a reservation was not possible. It's a shame that the service here is so disorganized. If you don't accept reservations, this should at least be clearly communicated.

We were here today with our daughter. Great service from the start, the girls are very on their toes here. The food was super tasty, overall there was nothing to complain about. Great location, great staff, amazingly delicious food. We'll definitely be back.

Food / burgers and tapas were super tasty...even if the ambience doesn't look inviting from the outside. If you could do more with it, that's why it's one star less. But the interior is really great and the service is attentive and friendly!! Highly recommended!

An exceptional restaurant! I was invited by friends and what can I say – it tasted fabulous! I had the burger with pear and goat cheese and have never eaten such a delicious creation. Someone really thought about it! I was also able to taste some of my friends’ food. You can tell that the cooking here is made with love. The service was also really perfect! Big thanks to Josie for the attentive and friendly service. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Very good burger restaurant on the island of Poel that can be recommended without reservation.

I was there twice with my family (actually 3 times, once unfortunately there was no more room, but we made a reservation for 2 days later) the staff is super nice, I can only say wow about the castles and the homemade drinks, you can feel it all A lot of love is made, they are the best burgers I have ever eaten!!! The ambience is really nice. I think the idea of ​​simply sawing up ladders, hanging them on the ceiling and decorating them with all sorts of things is brilliant. The old B1000 as a children's playground brings back memories of old times. People please don't forget to look at the invoice, there is always a nice saying on it, this also applies to the staff's company clothing (e.g. the new one, team player) What else can I say? Keep it up, see you next year!!! Update: 1 year has passed and they are still the best burgers!!! This time I tried the one that appealed to me the least. They were really awesome. And one more thing, even though the Benson was packed, the politeness and calmness of the staff and the boss also deserved five stars in my opinion. So see you next year!!!

We were totally thrilled. Rarely have I had such good burgers. The veggiburger was also very good (and my wife sets the standard very high 😉) Service was friendly and quick. Absolute recommendation. Prices okay. Nicely decorated inside. Outside, well. Reservation recommended.

We had burgers, fries, sweet potato fries and children's spaghetti. Everything was great! The tomato sauce was great and the burgers were the tastiest we've had so far. Thanks also for the great children's area and the nice welcome even without a reservation.

When we read in the comments "best burger ever", we thought that was a bit of an exaggeration. But yes, the burgers are really, really good... And the homemade dessert, a fruit streusel in harmony with its vanilla cream, yum!! Interesting decor and play area for children!

To describe it in one word: perfection. The service was very friendly and even though we hadn't made a reservation we were still able to find a table. The service is generally very motivated and friendly. They came regularly to ask if everything was okay. I ordered the “Terrible Sven” Citizen together with sweet potato fries, as shown in the picture. The citizen was a delight in terms of taste. Everything tasted very carefully balanced and I really enjoyed it. The meat was very juicy and the salad also tasted very fresh. The tomatoes are powerful and not watery. The jalapenos gave the citizen a strong but good spiciness and the sweet potato fries complemented it well. The ambience is also fantastic. The store may not look like much from the outside, but when you walk in you can tell that people have put some thought into it. There is a really cool bus inside that children can also play in. Music is also played through the speakers, and the music was very good and wasn't too loud. The interior decoration is very detailed and beautifully decorated. In my opinion, the prices are also very fair considering that you get really good food here. If you're on vacation here and don't visit this store, you're definitely missing out. However, I would recommend a reservation.

Apparently you can't order takeaway food there. Other reviews here said they were able to take food with them. Maybe the owners should announce something like this somewhere and work on the friendliness, which has already been criticized here several times.

Super tasty burgers. One of the best vegetarian burgers I've ever eaten. A mega children's corner where our 2 year old son was busy the whole time. Also good cocktails and very nice service.

I absolutely can't understand the positive reviews... super hungry, searched the internet, found this bar... opening hours until 11 p.m.... we were there at 8:51 p.m. Came in...no "hello".. just: "kitchen closing time".. Ok...I come from the restaurant myself. The kitchen never closed 2 hours before closing. Especially since some people got food... 🤷The mood there was stupid... when ordering drinks and also when serving. Absolutely not friendly...no idea if it was our fault... In any case, this was the first and last visit...what a shame.

As already posted, the food and service were really, really, really good. But we were shocked when we wanted and were able to pay with the card. There was a section in the card reader: tip 10%, 20% or 30% of the total amount or refuse. Since we had already prepared the tip, we pressed “refuse”. Which even gave me a strange feeling. At the time, I wasn't aware that there was such a thing, that you could deduct the tip straight from your card. It was better the way it was before, otherwise you feel under pressure. It is important to tip, but it must be voluntary.

Were there for the first time this evening. It's a shame we weren't there to eat sooner. However, you should reserve in advance! Our burgers were delicious and the steakhouse fries with the sour cream were perfect. You should also try the homemade lemonade. Highly Recommended. The service was friendly and helpful. I've traveled a lot around the world and love food. At Bensons yesterday I ate by far the best burger of my life (I'm over 40)!! I decided on the vegetarian version of Pollo Loco. It was divine. The location with a play area is great. Service was great!

We are here for the mother-child treatment and will certainly eat more meals here after our previous two stays. The food is fantastic and the waiting time is short, which is an important point with children. The staff is very friendly and attentive, asks how you are and is present. The “play corner” for the little ones is Well thought out, equipped with a variety of toys and a truly unique piece thanks to the vintage body of a minibus, which invites you to play inside. For the first time in my life, I had a relatively relaxed meal with my child because the child was simply happy to be able to keep himself busy. Parking is also easy and all in all, I wish I had this same restaurant at home :) 5 stars in all respects!

Very cheeky, argumentative and personal service in an outdated clubhouse. The eye-catcher is the Barkas. But that doesn't console you about the rest. For example, about a boy washing glasses behind the counter and frozen patties. Too expensive for that.

The restaurant doesn't look very appetizing from the outside, but the ambience inside is great! The most important thing is of course the food. At this point I compare with greats like Peter Pane or Hans im Glück. There is definitely no need to hide here! Had a double Angus burger, a vegetarian burger (outstanding!) and fries and onion rings. Everything was very tasty and packaged well. There is nothing to complain about here and we would be happy to come back. We spontaneously ordered by phone on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. to pick up. It was clear to us that we would have to expect longer waiting times, so we weren't shocked by the 8 p.m. pickup, we expected at least 60 minutes anyway, the store was full.

We went to the MuKi cure on Poel and wanted to reserve a table with 6 adults + 6 children of different ages, we were rejected because it would then have the feel of an “indoor playground” and no longer have the ambience of a restaurant, which I find simply unbelievable and discriminatory ! I can understand that “so many” children can be a nuisance for other guests, BUT!! We would have arrived right at opening time in the middle of the week!! It's a shame, anyone who advertises a play area should expect children!!

Tolles Essen, netter Service, alles top! Coole Inneneinrichtung. Wir bestellten 2 Burger und eine Kinderportion Spaghetti mit Tomatensoße. Die Spaghetti wurden von uns klein geschnitten für unser Kind🙈😬 Habe noch nie so einen guten Garnelenburger gegessen. Dazu gab es für mich Süßkartoffelpommes mit Chili-Cheese-Soße und für meinen Mann Onion-Rings mit Sour-Cream. Wir sind begeistert und alles hat gepasst 😍

Gutes Essen macht leider nicht alles aus, sofern man es überhaupt erhält, wenn das Personal auf Nachfrage empört und frech reagiert.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker. Die Burger sind frisch zubereitet mit vielen hausgemachten Saucen und vegetarischen Alternativen. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wahrscheinlich der hipste Laden auf der Insel :)

Waren mit Reservierung heute Abend 18-19 Uhr dort zum Essen. Wir würden sehr freundlich begrüßt. Und haben unseren Tisch genannt bekommen. Ambiente eine Mischung aus DDR und Burgerladen mit Bar. Tolle Spielecke für unsere Kleine. Service zügig, freundlich, gehen auf Extras ohne Murren ein. Gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Jetzt das Kernthema..... Essen. Burger haben interessante Namen. Ansonsten würde ich sagen Durchschnitt. Habe schon bedeutend bessere für den Preis gehabt und auch schon einige schlechtere. Steakhousepommes waren gut. Meine Chilly Cheese Pommes waren meiner Meinung wenig und es hatte nichts von Chilly.... Also nicht mal im Ansatz Schärfe Fazit.... Kann man mal machen. Aber eben nichts weltbewegendes.

Ich bin begeistert! Das Essen war wirklich gut, auf spezielle Wünsche wurde eingegangen..das Personal sehr freundlich und kompetent. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Wir waren in den letzten zwei Tagen zweimal im Bensons. Das Essen ist OK die Gastfreundlichkeit ein Flop und auch nicht mit dem Ende der Hauptsaison zu argumentieren. Wir dachten beim ersten Mal noch, dass die unverschämte Art der Frau hinter der Theke ein Ausrutscher war. Jedoch wiederholte sich dieses einen Tag später noch erheblich. Obwohl das Restaurant einen tollen Kinderbereich hat, wurden wir in einer unverschämten Art und Weise angeredet, dass unser Kind leiser sein sollte. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren noch nicht einmal andere Gäste da und unsere Tochter hat lediglich einen Stuhl verschoben. Das Essen ist gut, der Burger Bun selbstgemacht, der Patty jedoch TK Ware, was bei einem Preis von ca. 13€ nur für den Burger nicht der Fall sein sollte. In Summe haben wir für einen Burger inkl Pommes, einen Salat, Kinderspaghetti, Wasser und einem Bier ca. 58€ bezahlt.

Überragend! Wir waren vor einigen Tagen mit ein paar Freunden dort und konnten einen supertollen Abend verbringen. Die Burger suchen geschmacklich seines Gleichen. Ich hatte den "Brandmeister" mit Süßkartoffeln, der vor allem durch den saftigen Patty und die feurige Sauce mit Jalapenos Punkten konnte. Besonders Bemerkenswert ist der Burgerbun, der sich perfekt um den Burger legt und dafür sorgt, dass man den Burger trotz der Größe tatsächlich aus der Hand essen kann. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die großzügige Spielecke inklusive eines Spielbus zum Austoben für die Kinder. So konnte man endlich mal als Eltern einen entspannten Abend in einem Restaurant haben. Die Bedienungen waren sehr aufmerksam und man konnte sie über einen Servicewürfel rufen, Zusätzlich hatte ich zwei Cocktails, die frisch zubereitet wurden und es geschmacklich mit jeder Cocktailbar aufnehmen könnten. Das einzig Negative ist, dass mein jetzt neuer Lieblingsburgerladen knapp 700km von meinem Wohnort entfernt ist.

Ein absolutes muss wenn man Urlaub auf der Insel macht und einen guten Burger Essen will. Das Personal sehr freundlich und eine überschaubare Auswahl an Burger Varianten. Die ausgezeichnete schmecken. Das Ambiente ist eine Mischung aus DDR Rockabilly Lokal nur alleine das macht schon Spaß. Für Kinder gibt's auch eine Spielecke.

Schade!? Dass man nicht 6 Sterne geben kann! Also wo fange ich an? Vielleicht mit einem der besten Burger, den ich je gegessen habe. Ich hatte die Kreation Pollo-Loco, die zu einer regelrechten Geschmacksexplosion führte - Nachos, Guacamole, Jalapenos, & weitere Raffinessen mit einem Crispy-Chicken-Patty in einem selbstgemachten Burgerbun der seines gleichen sucht. Normalerweise muss man große Burger mit Messer und Gabel essen, da sie auseinander fallen. Nicht hier! Trotz der Burgergröße und mittelmäßigen Burgerhandling konnte ich ihn durchgehend aus der Hand essen. Der perfekte Bun (wie eben bereits erwähnt) macht dies möglich, da er sowohl den richtigen "Fluff" hat und trotzdem am Boden knusprig daherkommt. Euphorisiert nach diesem Gaumenschmaus habe ich mich zu einem "Swimming Poel" hinreißen lassen und kam auch dort auf meine Kosten - unverschämt lecker! Besonderes Plus ist die Kinderfreundlichkeit. In einem alten Bus, der als Spielzimmer fungiert und einer großen Kinderspielecke können sich die Kleinen austoben und die Eltern entspannen. Weiter waren die Bedienungen super und das "Cube"-System funktioniert auch super! Also wer in Poel ist und hier keinen Burger essen geht, der hat die Kontrolle über sein Leben verloren. P.S. Man muss vorher reservieren! Am Besten vor Ort für einen der nächsten Tage.

Ein toller Service mit viel Aufmerksamkeit durch alle Bedienungen und 2 vorzügliche Burger mit sehr guten Pommes und einem excelenten chili-cheese Dip und auch das Dessert *Crumbles der Saison" (mit Erdbeeren) war ein toller Gaumenschmaus.

Essen ist mit Liebe gemacht (Verliebte Ziege =Top). Familienfreundlich. Mit Abstand netteste Truppe von 7-8 Restaurants/Imbiss-Möglichkeiten, die wir in Schwarzer Busch/Kirchdorf/Timmendorf ausprobiert haben. Teurer als die anderen, aber man geht trotzdem glücklicher ins Feriendomizil zurück. Unbedingt rechtzeitig vorher online reservieren - vielleicht auch gleich für zwei Tage, da man bestimmt nochmal wiederkommen möchte während des Urlaubs.

Bester Burger ever. Super Service, tolles Ambiente. Kommen garantiert wieder.
