Today, after a long time, we ate at Wienbrede again. The first impression wasn't bad at all; we received a friendly welcome and were shown to our table. Our orders were taken quickly. The first hitch was that my sister ordered a pasta dish and politely asked if they could add scampi. The waitress replied, "Unfortunately, we can't do that because we don't have the option to charge for the scampi separately. I don't know what the problem is, since we've been able to order it separately in every restaurant so far." The starter was a tomato soup that was a bit too salty, but I still didn't find it a problem. However, the bruschetta was "only" served on toasted bread, which wouldn't have been a problem either, although I would have called it "bruschetta style" on the menu. The main course was two fillet tips in pepper cream. Unfortunately, the sauce was anything but a cream sauce, but just a simple gravy with a few peppercorns. Unfortunately, the meat was overcooked, so you had to chew on it for ages before you could even swallow it. As mentioned above, my sister had the pasta dish: tagliatelle with sun-dried tomatoes in garlic oil and grated Parmesan. This dish didn't impress us at all, even though it was the best of the lot. The dishes all came very quickly, one after the other, which isn't always a good thing, as you barely have time to digest the other food. Despite not being at all satisfied with the main courses, we decided to order the chocolate cake with a liquid center. This also arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. The center was unfortunately not liquid, but it was still quite edible. After dessert, unfortunately, no one came to our table for 25 minutes. We would have liked to have ordered a nightcap to lift our spirits a bit after the meal. The next problem arose when paying: Visa cards are unfortunately not accepted, even though it was promised beforehand. P.S. We politely complained to the waitress about the food, and she said she'd pass it on to the kitchen, but I don't think that happened. Then they might have offered us a nightcap, etc., as a small compensation, or at least a few kind words when paying. It was definitely our last visit to this restaurant. All the best anyway. 🍀

I've known Mutter Stuff for over 40 years. The new owner has sensitively ensured that the old style has been preserved. The furnishings are very clean and well-maintained. I've always loved the atmosphere, so I'm pleased that there hasn't been any disruption to the style. After all, the building is a listed building! I was the only customer that afternoon, because today is the Lünen fair... I really enjoyed the cake, and the coffee was excellent too. The young man served me very friendly. Thank you for the pleasant hour! Unfortunately, I was there for afternoon coffee. We used to enjoy lunch or dinner there.

Breakfast is sadly unavailable – a missed opportunity. How often have we longed for a delicious breakfast after our morning swim – relaxed, refreshing, right there on the premises. But unfortunately, breakfast isn't possible, as everything remains closed and doesn't open until around noon. If the usual excuse is that it's due to staff shortages – my suggestion: A small self-service buffet with a coffee machine would be easy to implement. Payment could be conveniently handled via the pool's chip card – a clear advantage for both sides. Anyone who leaves this potential untapped should perhaps consider leasing the space. That would be in the interest of the swimming pool, Strobels – and above all: the guests. Closed doors are a turn-off for customers. Just something to think about.
