Bakery with a huge selection. Comfortable seating both inside and out. Also suitable for breakfast and snacks.

The food tastes very good. However, only four stars, because unfortunately the pretzel dumplings aren't what they used to be. They only had two slices of pretzel and an excessive amount of sauce. The dumplings themselves had less pretzel than before. That was a bit disappointing. The salad was excellent! A great, varied mix with a delicious dressing.

Guts beer is also available there.

Waiting times for shopping are unbearable due to poorly trained staff. This should be reconsidered!

We went to Bäcker Schmidt today and were really looking forward to it. I reserved a table a week in advance. When we arrived, we unfortunately discovered that the table was completely filthy despite the reservation. On top of that, the floor was completely filthy with food scraps. When we asked for a cloth, the lady first had to ask another colleague where one could be found... Questionable when, as a salesperson, you don't know where one is. Instead of apologizing or sending someone else to clean the reserved table, I was given a cloth and told that it wasn't for the floor. You couldn't get any more brazen than that... We had to wipe the table ourselves and sweep the floor ourselves. Thanks for the great service!

Great selection, fair prices, good quality!

We were in Roth for a weekend seminar and, on the recommendation of the seminar leader, stopped for dinner at the Genießertreffpunkt (a local gourmet meeting point). The café/restaurant was very busy, so a reservation for seven people was absolutely necessary. We were overwhelmed by the enormous and diverse selection, and there was something for everyone. The drinks and food were served promptly and, above all, simultaneously. The portion sizes are truly generous, almost a bit too large for petite people. All the dishes tasted truly excellent and were also beautifully presented. Everything is just perfect here, from the ambiance and variety to the service and prices. We'd love to come back!

I was there for dinner yesterday and had schnitzel with potato salad and a Spezi for under 20 euros. And it wasn't just one schnitzel, nor two schnitzels; there were actually three schnitzels on the plate, each a good size. Unfortunately, I left my phone at the hotel and don't have any photos. Would I come back? Absolutely. It's an insider tip in Roth for me.

This bakery chain has all sorts of bakery items. You can also get pizza or meals like pasta or schnitzel. You order at the counter and then when you buzzer rings you pick up. After you finish have to buss your own table. Decent for bread or pastries or a quick meal.

I highly recommend it. It's conveniently located on the B2 toward Schwabach and Nuremberg, and Pleinfeld, Weißenburg, and Gunzenhausen in the other direction. There's a spacious parking lot with an attractive playground on the stylish and cozy outdoor terrace.

We've been frequent guests here for years. Unfortunately, it has to be said that the service and food have gotten worse. We were there last night and just wanted a drink and something sweet. I ordered four scoops of ice cream, a small Spezi, and my wife ordered an apple strudel and a glass of water. At first, we weren't even noticed, but then when the waitress (with blonde hair) saw us, she immediately asked: Why are you sitting here and not there? I can't see you like this! Um, not my problem?! By the time we were able to take our orders, I'd already received my ice cream, the drinks took another 15 minutes, and after half an hour, the apple strudel still wasn't there! Then we left! It really can't be true... We only received a very poor apology with no real interest... Well, we certainly won't be coming back anytime soon!

After 8 years, it's time to update my 2017 post. The burger is still delicious, but the presentation has changed, as you can see from the second photo. Additionally, the café is now frequented by families with children, making it difficult to have a proper conversation. The food is good, but the highlight is the pseudo-funny, sexist toilet names; you don't find those in enlightened areas anymore

If you go there for breakfast I highly recommend getting one of the omlettes. The slightly toasted bread they serve with the omlettes is phenomenal!

You can get almost everything here: hot and cold drinks, cakes, bread, and rolls. Hot and warm dishes. This means you'll probably have to wait. Beautiful location with a garden.

The food always tastes great. I especially love the pizza. And it's relatively inexpensive.

So far, the store is okay, but it's really old-school when it comes to payment options. Cash payments with €200 aren't possible... you have to go inside to pay by card. People, people... you haven't embraced digitalization yet! That's why you lose one star.

On the recommendation of friends, we visited the Schmidt bakery in Roth – and were pleasantly surprised all around! We were there with our children and other friends and felt at home from the very first moment. The excellent service is particularly noteworthy. As I personally mentioned, the team was incredibly friendly, attentive, and courteous, even with the children. You rarely experience something like that these days! June 21, 2025, approx. 6 p.m.

Ich war mit meiner Frau heute im schmidt Becker zum Essen holen und haben es dann gegessen. Bei der Hälfte vom Salat ist meiner Frau aufgefallen, dass da nicht flugfähiger Käfer also er ist nicht rein geflogen im Salat war widerlich pur. Wäscht ihr denn euren Salat nicht gründlich bevor ihr ihn verarbeitet. Bei mir war im Bruscetta unter dem Baguette, als ich das letzte hochgehoben hab ein hart drunter, dass ich fast den Baguette wieder ausgekotzt hätte. Meine Nudeln mit Pilze waren wirklich ungenießbar. Haben nach gar nichts geschmeckt. Im Mund wurden sie so einem nicht runter zu bekommen den Brei also die Nudeln waren irgendwie falsch gekocht oder so oder? Vielleicht kam das von der Verpackung vom mitnehmen aber wir haben das Essen ja gleich gegessen und die Nudeln die hab ich nicht mal ein Viertel gegessen und sie wiegen lassen. Wir waren jetzt schon oft beim schmidt Becker zum dort essen und es hat uns immer geschmeckt, aber das ist abartig pur und wird uns als Stammgäste nicht mehr sehen. Man sollte sich als großes Restaurant schämen, essen togo anzubieten, dass man nicht essen kann nie wieder schmidt Bäcker Roth, das Gesundheitsamt sollte diesen Laden dicht machen

You drive there on Whit Monday (a public holiday) to get the spaghetti ice cream you've been looking forward to for days when the weather finally turns nice after four days of rain. You wait in line for ten minutes, only to be told that the spaghetti ice cream machine is broken. Impossible on a public holiday! But if you don't want to sell ice cream and would rather scare away customers, you can do it that way!

Boring and completely unmotivated staff. Good café, definitely better. Strawberry cake was as crispy as soda when eaten. Probably not chilled properly, not acceptable. Neither coffee nor other hot drinks were available here on June 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Not recommended.

Nice dinner, gladly again, friendly, ambience could use some fresh colors after so many years

Good location, parking, nice atmosphere, great concept. The worst part, however, is that it's a huge bakery without a single decent vegetarian snack to go, like a sandwich or pretzel. Unacceptable. They should ideally also offer vegan options. The cream is incredibly delicious. Extremely long wait times.

The location is great, right off the B2 exit. There's plenty of parking. Unfortunately, it's self-service. Long wait times. The food and selection are very good. The prices are reasonable. I recommend it.

The employees are always friendly and competent

Pizza good (3-4 stars), "Schmidt" burger good to mediocre (3 stars) due to unfortunately little seasoning, no salt and pepper at the table, food comes extremely quickly (?!), service friendly, enough parking spaces in front of the house (free of charge), prices bearable.

I think this bakery is the most beautiful in all of Roth. However, a small pool on the terrace would be the icing on the cake, as would air conditioning with a fine mist of water from above to ensure pleasant cooling on hot days. Music is also missing a little, a radio station such as B. Antenna Bavaria at medium volume would make the atmosphere even more comfortable

Just a great shop/restaurant/snack bar. Everything of everything, and extremely clean and tidy. There is even a separate children's corner for the little ones. The food is plentiful, today I had a “Jäger” schnitzel. I didn't manage the portion for 15 euros, but I was able to pack the rest. And delicious too, so I recommend it. Drive or walk there and see for yourself. You won't regret it!

Long waiting time, too few staff

The "strawberry ice cream sundae" and the "nut with pistachios" are each around €9 - very tasty & good portions, Price for a single scoop of ice cream is €1.70. Very friendly staff, even if the technology isn't right when ordering - you'll be happy to come back.

One of the coziest bakeries in Schwabach. The terrace is almost like a vacation in the summer. I really enjoy going there with friends and family.

Unfortunately, there are long queues, especially at breakfast time. The ladies try very hard and are always friendly, but there is often just too much going on and there are long queues - therefore only two stars for service. If I feel like having another coffee for breakfast, I'll miss it - that's why waiting in line for so long again is annoying. The selection is wide, the food is good and the portions are sufficient. The atmosphere is tasteful and cozy. Often full, so it can be very loud in the large building. There is also nice, covered seating outside, a small fenced-in playground and a large parking lot.

It's just self-service, you can't give stars because there are no waiters.

Saturday morning in perfect weather at 10:45 a.m.: Café and terrace not even half full, but at the ordering counter for in-house consumption there was a line at least 12 meters long. Nevertheless, I hired it in the hope that it would go reasonably quickly. After half an hour (!) I was halfway to the checkout while my friend had to wait alone at the table. So actually we were there to drink coffee and chat. That really can't be true! After waiting in line for half an hour, I stopped and we got our breakfast elsewhere. Really disappointing performance. The team didn't look undermanned either, there were enough people bustling around. Why it takes so long to “process” the queue is really a mystery to me. About a year ago the same tragedy! Today I thought I would give Rother Schmidt another chance - after today, never again.

The dishes, which were freshly prepared a la minute, were simply delicious. You can tell that there is a lot of attention to detail here. The cocktails in particular, especially the Strawberry Colada, were a highlight and rounded off my evening perfectly. I would definitely like to come here again! We just wanted to take something with us when I saw that there were bee/wasp traps hanging everywhere on the terrace again. Last year the animals lay in there a few centimeters thick, attracted by, I guess, syrup. Now that the sun comes out and bees and bumblebees are looking for food, they of course fall into the trap. And the best thing of all, in front of the terrace entrance, is a lavender field (of course it's not blooming yet) and there's a beautiful sign on it that says you should pay attention to this for the little animals... I'm laughing to death when the traps are hanging 5 meters away. So Baker Schmidt, that doesn't work at all, absolute minus point. 1 star is too much!!!

Dieser Bäcker ist wirklich das allerletzte. Das erste und letzte Mal. Man ist schon überfordert wenn man rein kommt, bei diesem Chaos. Dazu noch unfreundliches Personal. Das Essen hat wirklich nicht gut geschmeckt. Vor allem das Baguette hat wie Pappe geschmeckt. Wirklich traurig für eine Bäckerei. Und dann noch unverschämt hohe Preise! Nicht zu empfehlen!

Unfortunately there was a pretty young team working at the counters/cash registers today who somehow didn't check anything that was ordered so they somehow have no idea what's on the menu. And so a salad was given away. The young staff should perhaps be trained a bit and not talk all the time when the shop is on fire. In addition, “regular customers” - family members - are apparently more likely to be served or let in even though they have been queuing for a long time.

Today we had a very nice young woman serving at the counter. Scrambled eggs were extremely bland.

We were initially denied a discount on our meal after a member of staff spilled a drink on us. After repeated discussion we received a discount of €3.

The food was delicious, but requests were not taken into account when making reservations. If you ask to get a certain seat and then in the end it is occupied and you say it has been typed in differently since you made the reservation, that's pretty cheeky. If I have a reservation I think I have the right of way. We've been here several times and it's really delicious, but we also had to wait an hour before we were asked for drinks. Significantly more staff should be hired and the service improved. However, the blonde-haired lady is always very friendly and always smiling! We'll think about coming here in the future.

Fahren gelegentlich zum Cafe Schmidt nach Roth (wohnen in Nürnberg-Eibach) waren und sind bis jetzt immer zufrieden gewesen, Kaffee und Kuchen (große Auswahl) sehr lecker, freundliches nettes Personal. Verstehe manche negativen Bewertungen zwecks Sauberkeit, unfreundlichem Personal nicht. Kommen gerne wieder wenn wir Lust zu einem kleinen Ausflug haben. (sind Rentner).

Were there yesterday to celebrate my grandma's birthday in a small group. I ordered dessert for her in advance as a little surprise. The waiter was really very accommodating and nice. 😊 At the end he brought dessert with a small birthday candle in it. 😊 I always love going here. Heartfelt recommendation. 🤍

Waren zum Abendessen dort und ja, würden es wieder tun! Der Wiesen-Burger war geschmacklich sehr gut, leider aber zu trocken (eine gute Soße würde ihm helfen), die Pizza aber genau so, wie sie aus dem Holzofen sein soll. Und unsere Bedienung zuvorkommend und sympathisch :)

Were in Roth for the first time today at Schmidt's, Sunday at 2 p.m., people were queuing up to buy cakes and pastries to take away, the same for the catering area, it was loud and hectic there today, not a feel-good place, more like canteen romance, the cakes, cakes and pastries were very tasty, but we were happy when we had our things and were out again. But the mass of people seems to indicate good food quality.
