What can I say? If you're looking for Italian food, then Bacco is the place to go. It doesn't get much better than this. The food is top-notch, and the service and atmosphere are simply authentic. I'll definitely be back!

Very friendly! The pizza was amazing!

We spontaneously decided to visit the restaurant on Halloween Friday. The location is beautiful. We hadn't made a reservation, just hunger and luck, because we got a small table. Many thanks to the lovely staff who cleared a table for us for an hour and a half, and thank you for the delicious food. Fresh mussels, a unique weekly menu, great wines – a perfect all-around experience. We would definitely come back to Bacco. Grazie!

My Italian heart leapt when we enjoyed your food. A piece of home in little Rotenburg. Absolutely authentic dishes that taste simply delicious.

We had ordered three pizzas for pickup an hour in advance to speed things up. When we were picking them up, we noticed outside that two pizzas were completely wrong. So we went back to the restaurant. After a while, we were given new ones and specifically asked if everything was correct this time. The employee just laughed and said, "Yeah, yeah." We took a quick look inside, and at first glance, everything looked fine. Unfortunately, the onions on the salami pizza were placed so centrally that we couldn't see them at all when we opened the door quickly. Our mistake; we should have looked more closely. So we went back in a third time. By now, even other guests were finding the situation rather amusing; another customer had apparently received the wrong order. Still, there was no apology or consideration from the staff. I think it's a real shame because the interior of the restaurant looks upscale, and the food is truly delicious. The prices are slightly higher, in keeping with the ambiance, but you don't get the customer service you'd normally expect from a restaurant of this category. Despite ordering by phone an hour in advance, we ended up spending 30-45 minutes there, just because the pizzas were constantly wrong and the customer service was almost nonexistent. Truly disappointing and unprofessional.

However, the prices were a bit high, and the portions could have been a bit larger. The service seemed a bit overwhelmed by the lunch rush, but was still friendly. The ambiance is very nice: quaint, cozy, and lovingly decorated in a half-timbered house. Overall, a pleasant experience in a pleasant atmosphere.

The food was fantastic, and the ambiance was perfect. It was so good that we immediately reserved a table for the next evening so we could enjoy it again. Summary: We've been there twice and were 100% impressed. Everything is delicious, the quality is superb, and our standards for Italian cuisine have been raised to the highest standards here ☺️ . A great selection of Italian dishes with a seasonal menu. Currently, they have a pumpkin soup, for example. There's also an extensive selection of drinks. The ambiance is lovingly decorated on two floors. The staff is friendly. In summer, there's a beautiful outdoor area directly on the Fulda River.

The two of us went there without a reservation. We were lucky and still got a seat. Two pizzas. Highly recommended 👌🏼. They served it with two types of olive oil. You could also buy that. We did. Excellent. After we paid, the waiter came back and asked us to check whether there was any bruschetta on the bill that we didn't have. In fact, there was. At the next table, two women noticed when paying that they had been charged too little for a bruschetta. We then got the €9.20 we overpaid back. Many thanks to the two women and the waiter for their honesty. I highly recommend the restaurant because of the very good pizza (Diavola and Parma).

Delicious food and very friendly staff!

We decided spontaneously, and it was worth it: the best pizza we've ever eaten, the highest level of craftsmanship from the crust to the toppings, and the price/performance ratio are just right. Now I have to drive 100 kilometers if I want to enjoy Italian cuisine. We'll definitely be back.

We only stopped here for a quick bite to eat. The staff was super friendly, the food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the restrooms were clean. It's a beautiful spot by the Fulda River.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right. The appetizer was great, but our two pasta dishes, at €18.50 and €23.50 respectively, were completely overpriced for the quality and appearance!

It's "great" that critical *truthful* reviews are being deleted! We wanted to make a reservation for 15 people at 7:30 PM - we were told it wouldn't open until 8:30 PM. We accepted this. Unfortunately, it was too late for a family of four. We informed the restaurant of this when we arrived. The server then told us this wasn't OK. When we asked what we should do, we received the answer: Please go away! - Unbelievable!

Wonderfully beautiful ambiance on the banks of the Fulda River! We arrived around 6:30 p.m. with a reservation and got a great spot in the evening sun! Even while waiting for the food, we couldn't believe how beautifully some of the dishes were prepared! A-grade - top notch! Our three pizzas (with super-thick and soft crusts) arrived quickly, and the wait was very pleasant. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. The pizza was great - I don't think you can go wrong with any of the dishes here ;) The prices for the dishes, or in our case, the pizzas, were also completely reasonable in my opinion. I would definitely recommend making a reservation after 7 p.m. (weekends), as the restaurant steadily fills up.

Very disappointing! The food took 1.5 hours to arrive, and it was cold to boot. The portions were far too small for the price. Furthermore, my starter didn't arrive until after the main course – completely unprofessional. As if that weren't enough, the waitress even insulted us in Italian simply because we couldn't understand her due to her lack of German. This is completely unacceptable – absolutely not recommended!

The food is super delicious. BUT, the prices are steep. 17.50 for a lasagna! 🫣 It's tasty, no question, but that's pretty outrageous.

The only thing that worked here was the location, and that came at a price. The aperitif was served in a shot glass, for which even the head waiter apologized. The lasagna was lukewarm in the microwave, and the espresso only arrived after repeated requests. Chili oil was placed on the table in a large 0.7 liter bottle from the supermarket, and the tablecloth was a printed piece of paper. The ambience could be better. There are a lot of staff there, but they are not properly managed. You are greeted by a waitress who doesn't speak a word of German and only answers in English. Apparently, no effort is made because the location is perfect, which you then find out on the bill. What a shame!

Guests Apparently Not Welcome There were two of us and we entered the restaurant's outdoor area. Almost all the tables were free, only one was occupied. We wanted to sit by the water's edge, but the waiter immediately approached us and said rather brusquely that all the tables there were reserved, but we could sit upstairs on the terrace. There were no reservation signs on any of the tables. So we sat on the upper terrace as instructed. After a short while, I went inside to wash my hands. When I returned, another waiter approached me and asked if I had a reservation. I explained to him that we were already seated at a table. Nevertheless, he asked again if we had a reservation – which irritated me. It seemed as if we were being denied the right to the table. I explained to him again that his colleague had seated us at that very table. Shortly after I sat down outside again, the second waiter came back out and suddenly said that the table was reserved after all – we should please go downstairs. I pointed out to him that his colleague refused to let us sit down there, claiming all the tables there were reserved. I finally had to show the waiter who had assigned us the table – which was an awkward situation, as I felt like I had to "rat someone out." The second waiter then went inside and returned shortly after with the first waiter, who now also angrily said: "But not here, if so, then down there." This kind of behavior was completely inappropriate. We then left the restaurant. We would have been completely understanding if there had been clear reservation rules – and if we had been politely turned away. Instead, we felt unwelcome and treated unfriendly from the very beginning. Finally, I would like to emphasize that we were by no means inappropriately dressed – on the contrary: we were dressed similarly to many other guests. Apparently, there is no consensus within the team regarding table allocation – and unfortunately, we experienced this with complete unfriendliness.

We were passing through and noticed Bacco Esposito as we drove by. But then we turned back because the outdoor seating was so nice, and we were hungry from the long journey. And we were not disappointed. Despite the presence of a wedding party, we were served promptly and very friendly. The pizza had an exceptionally flavorful base, and the pasta was also very good. The highlight was the espresso—that's what espresso should be! A big thank you to all the staff.

We were sitting on the terrace surrounded by blowflies so much that I couldn't even see my pizza. It was disgusting. I reported it and had my pizza packed up to go, but no one cared! There was a group of 8 of us who went there to eat last night. We had made a reservation and as we are all a bit older we wanted a table in the shade. We arrived on time and were told to sit in the blazing sun. Apparently they had forgotten about the reservation. We were able to sort that out and were quickly given 3 tables put together next to the corridor into the garden. It was very crowded and the staff kept walking behind me. Pleasant is not the case. After we were all seated the boss himself came and wanted to take our orders. First the drinks. No sooner said than done. Then we were asked to order. First the starters, then pizza and pinsa and then the pasta and if we didn't do it the way the boss wanted us to, we got a scolding. Two ladies would have liked to think about it a bit longer but the boss didn't understand at all, so they hurried and had pasta. Then we waited 1.5 hours for our food, which tasted good but the pasta was lukewarm and the pizza was so thin that I thought they had simply forgotten the base. The plates were cleared away immediately after the last bite and we were asked if we wanted anything else. Some of us finished off with a coffee or something similar and, naive as we were, thought we could finish it in peace. A couple wanted to pay and leave a bit earlier, and the boss took this as an opportunity to make everyone pay at once. And when the couple said we should finish our drinks in peace and that would be fine with them, the boss then said, "No, the table needs to be cleared now and re-occupied." All in all, an absolute disaster and definitely not to be recommended. If you read some of the reviews (which I unfortunately only did afterwards), the boss is described as moody and arrogant. I can only agree with that.

We wanted to celebrate a birthday in this restaurant with a small group. It all started well; we ordered our drinks and received them fairly quickly. Then our food was brought, and we all ordered by the name of the dish, not the number. From there, it all started. We waited and waited, and nothing came. Meanwhile, another table that arrived after us (exactly the same number of people) had already received their food, while we continued to wait. At some point, after more than an hour, the manager came and apologized. There must have been some kind of large delivery. He said another five minutes, and that was fine with us. Another half hour later, our food finally arrived (the other table had already finished and left). My brother's ordered lasagna wasn't lasagna, but some kind of pasta. My brother told the manager that he'd ordered lasagna, and the manager started a bit of an argument about how he must have said the number of the dish (as I said, we didn't order by number). Reluctantly, he took the dish back and said he'd bring a new one right away. For this kind of behavior, as a restaurant of this standard, I would have at least refunded the second drink we ordered (only two people had ordered another one anyway). But no, instead, we were charged for the other dish instead of the lasagna, which was more expensive. That's an absolute disgrace, and if we hadn't noticed it a day later, we definitely wouldn't have let it happen to us. Despite this negative experience, I don't want to ignore the fact that the main courses were very tasty. Unfortunately, the bread that came with my soup tasted quite stale and also felt stale in consistency, which is why I returned it almost untouched.

After a lovely excursion, we wanted to end the day. We received a warm welcome and were shown a table. Unfortunately, we weren't noticed and therefore weren't served. After 20 minutes, we left and found another nice place. Maybe it's a good restaurant, but with this kind of service, we can't recommend it. There's better service in Rotenburg an der Fulda.

The food was excellent, everything tasted top-notch. The ambiance is indescribably beautiful. The city has invested in redesigning the waterfront. The service is actually good, but it wasn't busy, and we had to wait a bit. Otherwise, the wait was very friendly. It's best to reserve a table in advance, as it fills up very quickly. They try to accommodate everyone. Prices are reasonable. We've already recommended you to others, as we're staying at the Hotel Göbels, so it's not far from there. 😉

We were there twice this week. The first day, everything was fantastic, 5-star quality. The pizza was delicious, and the service was perfect, fast and friendly. The second day, the service wasn't as good. There was a waitress who must have been new, and the manager kept giving her orders in a rude manner. The poor girl didn't know where to hide, and this must have caused a bit of a mess and caused a delay when ordering and being served. I would absolutely recommend the place, but I would also recommend that the manager learn how to handle these situations better with new people and not speak that way in front of customers.

A slice of Italy on the banks of the Fulda River – Bacco Esposito impresses all around 🇮🇹✨ Our visit to Bacco – Esposito was a true culinary highlight! The portions were absolutely generous, the quality of the food outstanding, and the service left nothing to be desired – attentive, warm, and professional. Particularly noteworthy are the homemade lasagna with mature Parmesan and béchamel beef ragù, as well as the spaghetti alla carbonara, traditionally prepared with cheek bacon, fresh eggs, and Pecorino Romano – both dishes were a delight! The menu offers an authentic selection of Italian specialties at absolutely fair prices. For anyone who loves Italian cuisine, Bacco – Esposito is a real insider tip. And the accompanying – admittedly rather unusual – picture says it all: a completely empty plate. Nothing more needs to be said. 👌🍽️ A huge thank you to the entire team, and especially to the kitchen team, for this unforgettable evening – we'll definitely be back!

Even after six years, this is still my favorite Italian restaurant with a beer garden on Rotenburg's riverfront. Freshly renovated and even more beautiful. Attentive staff and always water for my furry friend, "Vamos." Thanks!

We were passing through and landed here based on the good reviews. The food was okay, the pinsa too, but the shrimp on top seemed like they'd just been frozen and baked. And charging almost €25 for a portion of homemade pasta with cheese, tomatoes, and arugula is pretty steep. The portion was small, so even a petite woman wouldn't have been able to fill her up, which is a shame. We won't be coming back when we're in the area.

Easter Sunday in the mood for pizza and discovered the sheltered outdoor terrace. If only I had moved on better. Unfortunately I had to wait a long time for the card and it was only after the service staff asked "did you already have the card" that it was brought. No, she cannot take an order. Only the colleague does that. And that's what came.... sagging pants, sneakers and the jacket was two sizes too small. The wood-fired pizza was delivered in record time... less than 5 minutes. The plate was held with both hands... the thumbs on the surface of the plate. OK... service staff are hard to come by. But the fast delivery was almost the only positive thing. After the first bite...burnt taste. Looking under the pizza... 1/3 of the base was almost completely burnt black. The complaint was recognized by service without any problems and the replacement pizza was delivered again after 5 minutes. This time the ground was perfect. The pizza also made a good visual impression, which unfortunately wasn't confirmed when eating it. The toppings were all cut very thin and therefore became very dry during baking. When it comes to cheese, one could also assume that cheese is quite tasteless. Just like the tomato sauce... in terms of taste, it could have come straight from the can... unseasoned... tasteless. Visited the toilet... the mixed impression continued. Missing covers, toilet brush and soap. The entire outdoor area made a somewhat unkempt impression... but that could also have something to do with the early season (April)... Payment was made after looking at a display... I didn't receive a receipt. Conclusion....visited once....never again!!!

Highly recommended restaurant. We were lucky enough to get a spot there on Easter Saturday. The service was great and the food (rabbit!!) was to die for. A small point of criticism was the wine recommendation. Our "desired wine" was apparently out and we were offered a (very good) alternative...unfortunately for over 10 euros a glass...I would have liked to have known that beforehand. But - the overall package is right. Therefore a full 5 stars.

I was in Rotenburg an der Fulda with my motorhome over the Easter holidays and used Google to find the restaurant Bacco Esposito. The map was very promising. It was supposed to be the end of a nice weekend. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the end. At first I was assigned a table that I didn't actually want and there was no reason for that afterward (no other guests came). The quality of the food was good and the recommended wine also met my expectations. But I didn't really feel welcome in any way. The dessert that was first offered was suddenly no longer available. Then two desserts were charged and only after a complaint did the boss apologize (you have to remember that) and give the money back. In addition, other tables were offered digestifs on the house afterwards. I didn't get anything like that even though I ordered a bottle of wine, truffle pasta and dessert. As a customer you just don't feel comfortable and I wouldn't come back because of the poor service. I'm sorry, but I'm not used to this kind of treatment.

About pricing: There was a menu with old, lower prices on display without any notice being given. We were also offered a vegetarian pizza (without mentioning the price) that wasn't on the menu, which we then took. Unfortunately, this was disproportionately more expensive than comparable items on the menu. Food was mediocre to good - that's why I adjusted the overall rating to 2 stars.

The food is excellent. However, completely overpriced, and the wine is also too expensive. The service is not flexible at all, if it's not on the menu, it doesn't exist. For dessert, for example, there is an espresso with ice cream. If you ask for ice cream, since there is obviously ice cream, the answer is NO. Not customer oriented and rather unfriendly.

I had dinner there in May 2024 on my bike tour to the North Sea. Tip came from the room landlord. The food was simply delicious and the staff is friendly and on the ball. Cozy restaurant. Very nice outdoor area. Unfortunately, it was already fully booked when I visited. If it weren't so far from where I live, Bacco-Esposito would have one more regular guest.

The Margherita pizza was a disappointment. The cheese smelled extremely bad and tasted like it was spoiled. Not only me but also my friends couldn't enjoy a single bite. Definitely not recommended! I can only agree with the other bad review.

A beautiful place with the best pizza in many years

Very satisfied overall. One point deducted for service or waiting for the starter. 40 minutes is really long if you have an appetite 😀 but things improved in the evening.

The food (pizza) was a bit too salty, but otherwise very good and it came quite quickly. Unfortunately we were sitting in a very drafty place indoors and so we were a bit cold. Therefore, a star deduction for the food and the ambience.

I was at Bacco with my family about a year ago and we had a pleasant evening. Food was delicious and the location was very nice. My family recently had their second visit to Bacco as they enjoyed the first visit, however we will not be going there a third time. They were there without me and had told me about their visit. My parents asked me to write a review because they don't have a Google account. They were very unhappy with their visit and felt unwelcome from start to finish. It started with a very unfriendly greeting from the owner. When they wanted to place their order, my father started first and listed what he would like, but he was ignored and ignored. My father couldn't explain why the owner behaved like that towards him. Among other things, my family had a small dog with them that sat on the chair. Instead of politely pointing this out to us, the owner decided to stand on the porch and loudly tell us that the dog shouldn't sit there. That's understandable, of course, no question about it. However, I think that this situation could have been clarified differently and I can also imagine that it must be very unpleasant for the other guests to watch the owner talking to his guests. But what shocked me the most was that my family told me that they felt like the owner and waiters were talking about them. You don't know whether they actually did it in the end, but if so, then you don't do it so that the guests can see it? How can you make your guests feel so bad?! I find that more than inappropriate and just incredibly rude. I've never experienced or heard anything like that. Someone who behaves like this in front of their guests should not open a restaurant or serve guests. If you express your criticism on Google, it will be answered, but in my opinion the answer from the owner comes across as very passive aggressive and there is no understanding or insight from the owner. I wonder whether this job is really the right one if you react like that to criticism from your guests and, above all, behave so disrespectfully towards your guests.

I'm at a loss for words for someone like the owner of this "restaurant" business. In my opinion, a personality resistant to advice and incapable of criticism. My general tip for the company: change in leadership! I lose my appetite.

We went there for dinner today. Celebrated our little one starting school. We sat outside, a nice terrace right on the river. Very nice place. The staff was friendly. A great waiter. We had bruschetta as a starter. This was delicious. I had spaghetti carbonara (without cream!! Thank God!) All dishes were really good. The dessert too. We felt very comfortable. My in-laws also loved the food. We live 50 km away but we will definitely eat there again. Merci beaucoup (Gracie mille).

Normally I save my energy for something like this, but I have to say something here. I had dinner with my boyfriend and his family. First of all, we got there before 6:30 and waited on the sidelines for them to open. It was pointed out several times that they would only open at that time, which wasn't a problem for us. In the end, the owner came earlier, but made a rather unfriendly first impression as he greeted us with words like “what do you want here? Can anyone help you?” welcomed. However, we were kindly allowed to get to the table earlier (we hadn't made a reservation). Once there, the cards arrived, although the waitress hardly spoke any German and couldn't answer any questions. I already noticed that the owner and the waiters were talking about us and I felt uncomfortable. Shortly afterwards, the owner loudly pointed out to us from the veranda that the small dog we had with us should not sit on the seat cushion of the chair. Of course we understand that, but you can say that in a friendlier and more discreet way, right? The food and drinks came quickly, but my pasta was lukewarm, tasteless olives and once even plastic in the salad (that can happen and was exchanged), and my shandy didn't really taste good either. That's why I just don't think the price is justified for the performance. In the end, the leftovers from the food were carelessly wrapped in aluminum foil. I've worked in restaurants myself and know how stressful it can be. But it can't be the case that several guests (just look at the other comments) don't feel welcome and find the owner arrogant. It's a shame because the location on the Fulda is very beautiful in summer.

For the first time there, without prior reservation, we got a table for 6 people, great ambience, service staff, food TOP, unique and terrific, everything freshly prepared and very child-friendly, we would definitely like to come back, highly recommended, best Pizza 🍕 that I ate.

With the generous voucher from the Golden Wedding Anniversary, it was supposed to be a beautiful, summery evening in the Bacco restaurant. But unfortunately when we asked about the wine list it didn't start off right away. The card was not given and the price for the Chianti was only given upon request. The ordering went smoothly and the food was fine. However, the atmosphere was characterized by restlessness and hectic pace among the staff, including the boss. After the order for another wine and mixed drink was not fulfilled despite repeated reminders, we warned the manager of the house about this after 30 minutes, with the result that he immediately asked us loudly not to cause any hassle, otherwise we would have to leave the restaurant leave and he would possibly ban us from the house. What also happens when paying the bill was pronounced and, after necessary discussion, concluded with the words "How old do you want to be" was commented on. As a married couple, we have been in public life for more than 50 years and have never experienced such unfriendly behavior. It seems as if someone here is simply overwhelmed.

Rarely have I had such good bruschetta and such good pizza. The service was very good and the employees were extremely friendly. If we are in Rotenburg again, we will definitely eat here again.

Food ok. Service ok. Boss rude and impolite. Doesn't ask what you want, just the number. Just like the Chinese used to. Slap in the face at the bill, 10.50 euros for a glass of wine. There was no price quote anywhere. Bully said we should have asked... To be avoided. Outright theft. Arrogant thief.

After everything you hear about Bacco Bar/Restaurant, I'm really disappointed with the food. The ambience is more than successful and impresses with its unique view/atmosphere.

A nice experience. Very well located on the Fulda, we were able to get a table at short notice without a reservation. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The food (pizza and pinsa) was very good. Likewise the wine. We had a very nice evening.

Exceptionally good food, great wines, and really exquisite oils. At its finest!

great location on the Fulda, you can sit inside, in the winter garden on the terrace or directly on the Fulda, super accommodating, and the food is top notch :-)

We stopped here by chance during our motorcycle tour. Very friendly staff, our wishes were fulfilled, the food was delicious. The only thing that wasn't so great was the large construction site next to the restaurant. Luckily we were there on the holiday. When the construction site is gone, it will be a place to stay longer 🤩🍷🍷
