We stumbled upon it by chance. Unassuming from the outside, but beautifully decorated inside. Everything was harmonious and cozy. You feel right at home. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. A fantastic place! Highly recommended!!!

We went there for a company party and no one had any idea what Ukrainian cuisine was like. Everyone loved it! The food was delicious, the people were super friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy – we'll definitely go back!

The food tasted like nothing. We paid €64 for soup, bread, and two dumplings—dishes that weren't freshly prepared (plus two drinks). Everything was lukewarm, the mushrooms were completely overcooked and mushy. The pork tenderloin was totally dry. They even charged extra for honey with my tea! For that price, I expect better food. What a shame, and I'll never go back. As for the atmosphere: the place is small, and you sit practically right next to the door. It's drafty, and every other person leaves their door half open.

I think the fish dish "Privet from Odesa to Koh Samui" with cod, salmon fillet, and shrimp (for 20 thalers) seriously lacked cod and salmon in the dish. However, since the taste was excellent, just like my friend's dish (vareniki al lime and a small slice of Napoleon cake), I'm still giving it 5 stars. Fair drink prices. Good wheat beer, good espresso. Friendly service, everything clean, cozy outdoor area, nice ambiance. Parking is a bit difficult during rush hour. Very easy to reach by public transport. Lively neighborhood. Card payments accepted.

The food was very tasty, but the portion was small and the price was relatively high. I still enjoyed it. I found it a shame that the table was booked for 8 p.m., but the place closes at 9:30 p.m. You should have pointed that out when making your reservation. It's kind of like fast food. 🥲

We ended up here by chance today and got the last table that just opened. We ordered two delicious bowls and a delicious cherry dessert. The waiters were super friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back. P.S. Perhaps they could install an automatic lock in the door, as some guests seem to have bags in front of their doors 😂

We reserved a table for dinner for three people starting at 5:30 p.m. We waited about 40 minutes for our food after ordering. At 6:40 p.m., we suddenly received an alert from the waiter that we only had time until 7:00 p.m., as our table was supposedly reserved for the next guest. We actually wanted to order dessert...but had to leave, with the recommendation: "There's a nice café across the street with delicious cakes."

Very sweetly decorated, with a pleasant atmosphere and a lovely terrace for outdoor seating. The servers are particularly friendly, and the food is delicious. Some of the dishes are modernized (“hipster”) rather than purely authentic Ukrainian—which I personally like.

We've been to Babuschkas Kitchen twice already and absolutely loved it :). We had the vareniki in Parmesan sauce and the pelmeni, and for starters, the bruschetta and pampuschki 😍😍😍. We definitely recommend Babuschkas Kitchen! 😊

Fried dumplings with potatoes are the worst thing I've ever eaten, really bad. But I think it's our fault that we ordered three different portions of dumplings with potatoes. I think the other items should be better. It's a shame there are no salads on the menu. The dessert was also disappointing, I ordered chocolate fondant, they brought me some kind of incomprehensible pile, it wasn't whole, just dough in chunks in chocolate, just disgusting, I don't know how the chef had the conscience to give it to the hall. But I wasn't in the mood to swear. The staff is very nice, everyone is friendly, but I don't think I'll come there again.

A strange "Ukrainian restaurant". No "grandmother". There are no matryoshka dolls in Ukraine, there are no "vareniki" either. The owner is probably hyping up the topic of Ukraine. Disgusting!

There were four of us, and we ate sweet and savory treats. Delicious! The only thing that was awful was the semi-dry white wine. The restrooms were okay, even if they were very small.

Visit in 2024. Good selection of dishes. I don't know if the food is truly authentic. I had Chicken Kiev with potatoes and salad. It was quite tasty. However, I missed a sauce. The dishes are rather hearty. If you like spicy food, you won't find anything here. Service is friendly. Relatively few tables inside and close together, so they're quite noisy. Prices are mid-to-high. A shish kebab with salad, for example, costs €26.90. The cake is very tasty.

We liked everything, the kids were happy, the service was nice, the dumplings melted in your mouth and the gooseberry compote reminded me of my childhood at my grandma's allotment. I highly recommend it 🤩❣️

We were able to order a quick bite here just before the kitchen closed and thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic service and the wonderful food. We highly recommend the fried vareniki and Georgian chakhobili, as well as the lemonade "Kompote." The server was very attentive and quick despite the full house. We'd love to come back!

The Caucasus Bowl is not recommended. It's mostly just salad and rice on top, and the rest is very limited. There were only two edamame beans to be found – nothing more. This dish is not good value for money. The service is good. However, the wait for the main course was quite long at 40 minutes. We wouldn't eat there again.

The presentation is beautiful! That's all. Borscht and dumplings with potatoes and mushrooms (fried is terrible) - both dishes are incredibly salty. For some reason, salted bacon is added to the sauce for the dumplings. Many of the menu items are not available to order ((( As a result, in the evening after eating, stomach problems and wild heartburn.

A very nice little restaurant on Kreuzstraße in Dortmund. Extremely friendly service, the food was truly delicious, and the value for money was absolutely top-notch! ***** The punch with vodka and raspberries is highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

Great, friendly staff, and delicious food that you won't find anywhere else. The menu is incredibly diverse; you'll find everything from Ukrainian dishes to more well-known Eastern European classics and even Georgian dishes. The desserts are also excellent. And you probably don't get Ukrainian beer that often in Dortmund.

Since it's right on the street, unfortunately one point is deducted for the ambience, as the hustle and bustle doesn't exactly ensure peace and quiet. It's still nice though. The service could have been a little more attentive. They had rearranged tables behind me and even though I had moved the chair to the table as far as I could, they kept pushing the chairs into my back without saying a word. Since it's the only thing I can complain about, I only deduct one point here. The food was super delicious and my colleague’s also looked delicious!

I celebrated my birthday here with the family. I felt nostalgic for food from a bygone era. What I got instead was the Soviet "charm" of the waitress. Different things were served than what was ordered. Okay, that can happen. But there is no excuse for the waitress's rudeness. She spoke to us in a very inappropriate tone. Apart from a long waiting time (almost an hour), I expect high quality and tasty food given the prices. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Maybe we had a bad day, but that was enough for us to never come here again.

Well, I rarely leave a review, but this forced me to do it. Today I had a birthday and I really wanted to go to my native cafe. Well, that’s just the name from it... This is not Ukrainian cuisine, but some kind of poison.... Everything that we ordered was not tasty, just garlic.... The Odessa salad is just terrible... The compote is also completely sour and has nothing to do with the Ukrainian compote... Pancakes with fish and herbs are a completely different matter. delicious. I don’t recommend it. There’s nothing Ukrainian at all except the name of the restaurant... I spent 70, it’s a disappointment and a ruined evening.... Special thanks to the Albanian bartender, very friendly... and there are no pluses

I was very satisfied. I had a lot of fun spending time here.

First of all, we want to highlight the warm, cozy and sometimes characteristically traditional ambience of this restaurant. Cozy furnished with a lot of taste. As a starter (which deliberately came with the main course because we were very hungry) we ordered the blinis with smoked salmon. The dough is very tasty, also a perfect combination of cream cheese, smoked salmon and the other components. No component unnecessarily drowned out the other, but harmonized very well. The only drawback? Quite a manageable portion and eaten off the plate very quickly. However, let's get to the main course. We once ordered the Vareniki Lisnik and the Vareniki in Parmesan sauce. Both came in a fried version. A bit unusual for me as I grew up with the boiled or steamed version. However, it didn't result in any loss of taste or anything like that. Very generous and filling portion. The sauce harmonized perfectly with the spring onions and the soy bacon (for once I chose the meat-free alternative and didn't regret it at all). What was a little negative was the fact that there was no salt and pepper at the table, as in my opinion the main courses were a little less seasoned. As always, this is a subjective opinion. The cocoa was extremely good. The Medovik (honey cake?) was rather average and didn't really taste bad. All the cakes looked fantastic. So the quality is actually great, but I wouldn't order it again because it's just not my thing. The highlight was clearly the Sirniki. Perfectly prepared. Wonderfully crispy on the surface and still nice and juicy on the inside. Extremely good, I can only recommend it to everyone. Worked well with the milkmaid sauce and jam. Would I visit this restaurant again? Definitely. All in all a very successful concept of traditional Ukrainian (sometimes Georgian) cuisine with a modern twist.

If it wasn't fully occupied, the ordered food was only served after 40 minutes. Not a treat for the palate and very far from the authentic taste. Canned mushrooms instead of fresh ones. Half of the dishes were served lukewarm to cold. Vareniki were OK to good.

Great alternative to the “Italian” Ukrainian cuisine is something unusual to kidnap your friends. Nice staff and a great atmosphere. The menu has decreased a bit and the kitchen closes quite early (mine it was 8 p.m.) which is why I deducted a star. From vegan to omni everyone will be happy. Parking is the biggest challenge. It's better to arrive here by public transport, bicycle or have the patience to find a parking space.

Cute shop with authentic charm. The food was great and the waiter was very engaging and friendly. Unfortunately, that cannot be said about his colleague behind the bar. The whole time she just stood bored on her cell phone and preferred to write voice messages rather than let her eyes wander over the guests. My companion would have liked to have had a drink after the excellent meal, but they were completely ignored. SHAME!

Good Ukrainian restaurant at very fair prices

Very cozy atmosphere, friendly, warm service and delicious Ukrainian dishes.

The food is really very good, and what's particularly positive is that all the pasta is made in-house and fresh vegetables are used. The service was very friendly. The price for the homemade lemonade is ambitious and I found the quality to be so-so. Incidentally, you sit very closely in what is otherwise a nice ambience.

The food was delicious and you can use the photos on the online menu to whet your appetite in advance, or see on site what is hidden behind the individual titles. The menu is largely self-explanatory and the two super nice service staff would certainly have explained everything.

Nur 2 Stunden Zeitfenster werden zur Reservierung angeboten. Die Plötze am Eingang sind ungemütlich und extrem kalt. Ständig gehen Leute rein und raus - bei Minustemperaturen nicht angenehm. Es gibt Decken, aber wer ein schönes Essen mit Freunden erwartet und nicht gerade günstige Preise in Kauf nimmt, ist enttäuscht und kommt so schnell nicht mehr zurück. Das Essen war lecker - aber ist es woanders auch.
