ALWAYS A FIVE STARS FROM ME! I’ve been here 5 times in one months because of not just their food but also their very warm hospitality. Athen treat us very well since our first visit, their food is also up to standards and my group and I always crave for their lamb. The restaurant is definitely worth a visit! Remember to build rapport with the owners to score more free shots!! Athen Restaurant is definitely worth more than just 1 visit :) !!!

The restaurant was very well attended. We ate there with 4 people. The service was on point. The menu offers plenty of choice, including dishes for the “small” hunger. Even the dishes were sufficient. The bifteki filled with sheep's cheese was one of the best in a long time. There was also ouzo, but I was a bit disappointed with the side salad. Dressing ok, but the salad was very chunky. But just a little thing. We will definitely eat here again in the foreseeable future. 👍👍👍👍👍

Today we spontaneously went to Arthen for dinner and were served very well by Jan. The manager of the restaurant and Jan repeatedly asked about our well-being. The atmosphere and the food are always top. Regardless of whether you come by spontaneously or with a reservation, there is always something available and you are always warmly welcomed. We like to come back again and again thanks to the great team and the delicious food.

If you like the “German version” of Greek cuisine, i.e. grilled food with fries and tzatziki, this is the place for you. Gyros and liver were on point and just perfect. It's a shame that moussaka and oven dishes aren't on the menu. What's worth highlighting is the ambience - when the weather is right, like the day I was last there, you can eat outside in a beautiful garden. The staff was very nice.

We come here at least once a month and are always thrilled. The food is excellent and always very plentiful. The owner and staff are always courteous and friendly, no matter how busy it is. A special thank you goes to our always extremely hard-working and good-humoured waiter Ronaldo. He makes every visit an experience!!!! A huge compliment to the entire team. We will remain with you.

We recently ate in Athens while passing through and are still thrilled and very full. The taste was very good and reminded me of my childhood (in a very positive way). The food came very, very quickly and the service was great. Every employee was friendly and tried hard. The prices are a little above average, but so are the portions! Ultimately, due to the large portion, the service proactively brought the bowl so that the leftovers could be taken away. Of course you can also serve slightly smaller portions and perhaps offer a larger portion for a small additional charge, but you don't have to look for a fly in the ointment 😁 Ultimately, there is nothing we would deduct points for! We would love to come back and will have great memories of Athens 🤩👌🏼

Great ambience, great food, the ouzo tastes good and the beer is top notch. I particularly like Ronaldo. I can recommend Gyrosmetaxa. The boss has an ear and an eye for the accounts. Everything is great, I'd love to come back. Best regards

Yesterday we received excellent service again in Athens. Both the landlord and the employee were attentive and very friendly. The food was delicious. The restaurant was very busy and guests arrived even after 9 p.m. Because we knew many of the guests, it was also an entertaining, happy evening.

Good food, and friendly and quick, albeit partly inexperienced, staff. Green tea was brought instead of herbal tea.

We ate in this restaurant yesterday and were absolutely thrilled. The atmosphere was stylish and inviting, you immediately felt comfortable and didn't want to leave. The waiters were attentive, friendly and extremely quick. As a vegan, I initially expected to only have a small selection, but the team gave me excellent advice and even put together an individual dish for me. My partner chose the gyro and loved it as much as I did. Despite the well-filled house, the boss personally took the time to ensure that every guest felt comfortable. So if you want to enjoy delicious Greek food in a beautiful atmosphere with a great crew, this is the right place for you. You're happy to put up with the garlic breath!

Top food, world-class service, pleasant atmosphere and invites you to have nice evenings, even in larger groups. Would recommend to anyone who is nearby.

From the outside, this restaurant, in the middle of a residential area, doesn't seem to look like much. However, this changes as soon as you take the first step into the restaurant. You are greeted warmly, as if you were a long-lost regular guest. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The ambience has it all. Everything is rustic and furnished with attention to detail. Everything is clean and well maintained. The food is excellent. The portions are, as usual with Greeks, very generous. However, this restaurant does not need this. Here, lack of quality does not need to be compensated for by quantity. I can recommend the grill plates, with two different types. This way you can try more variations. In contrast to other restaurants of this type, every type of meat here has its own distinctive taste. The gyro was nice and juicy and not dry. The tzatziki is also excellent. The restaurant has some seating and also a nice, spacious terrace at the back of the building, away from the street. It wasn't until we were leaving that we noticed how full the restaurant had become. It may be advisable to reserve a place for an evening so that you don't have to wait. This restaurant will definitely be visited more often.

There is no other restaurant that I know of that can be compared. I come from Lower Saxony and whenever I'm in Rendsburg I have to go to these Greeks. Price performance is unbeatable. And in all these years it hasn't lost any of its quality. Even wishes that are not on the menu will be implemented. I wanted to pack the restaurant in the trunk and take it with me to Lower Saxony. But that probably remains just a pipe dream. Anyone who reads this review and is currently in Rendsburg should eat there, because only then will you understand my enthusiasm. If it were possible, I would have given it 10 stars. My parents (the police are coming)...that's just an insider.....they've been going there 2-3 times a month for years. I too will probably be back in Rendsburg at the end of August. Keep it up

I was there for dinner on a Saturday and felt so uncomfortable. Where are the old days? I have the feeling that cooking is done without love! A pity. Lost an old customer!

Meine Schwiegereltern wohnen hier. Ich selbst komme aus Niedersachsen / Verden. Seit nun 12 Jahren fahren wir in regelmäßigen Abständen nach Rendsburg und kehren seither dann immer ins Restaurant Athen ein. Warum? Weil dieses Restaurant einfach zu empfehlen ist. Alle von uns geliebten Gerichte sind einfach "Spitze" . Das Personal und "Chef" , der immer mit Polizei droht - Ein SPASS !!!! - einfach cool. Alle sind sooo nett. Wie haben schon etliche griechische Restaurants/ überwiegend in Niedersachsen kennen gelernt, aber keins kann dem Athen in Rendsburg auch nur ansatzweise das Wasser reichen. Leute, macht weiter so - ihr habt es verstanden!

We ended up in Athens by chance during a short vacation. We got a table on the lovely outdoor terrace. The order could be placed quickly and the drinks came quickly. We didn't have to wait long for the food either. We had house style gyros and calamari. Both portions were delicious and huge. But there's also the rub: the portions are barely manageable for the average person. While we were there, not one empty plate went into the kitchen around us. So why not make the portions a little smaller and instead of 18-20 € maybe. Charge 14-16 €? Then not so much is thrown away. Otherwise friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Small and inconspicuous, it is hidden in the residential area. There are plenty of seating options outside and inside. Very friendly staff. Drinks and food were quickly at the table. The food was very tasty and is recommended.

If you have to increase the prices, please leave the portions as they were. Were there again after 2 years. Conclusion: Prices have become even more outrageous. Of course everything will be more expensive, but €22 for a minced steak with a small blob of Taziki, a bit of Metaxa sauce and fries that tasted like nothing.. It's better to go to the competition again. There weren't many guests there either. Many guests seem to stay away because of the prices (understandable!).

We have been eating there for many years, we were regulars there, it was always full, the food was lavish, the plates were full and delicious, the service was great, the staff were great, we didn't know it any other way. Yesterday we were there again to give the restaurant another chance, but no, the service wasn't working at all, we didn't feel understood, the food was inedible, we didn't eat anything, but we had it packed up to take away because we paid €119 for it, so I won't have it there leave it to throw away no matter.. and I ask the owner to please leave out the salad at the beginning because this little bit doesn't do the trick. I was only there earlier because of the salad you get at the beginning because it was super tasty It's a bite and that's it so you can leave it alone the prices have risen a bit too high we want the old service back because she really has no idea so in algm the shop has simply become rubbish unfortunately we'll never go there again it's a shame all the great years really……

We have been guests for many years. It was always delicious and reasonably priced. Now there has been the third price increase in 12 months. The portions have become smaller all the time, whether it's the side salad or the farmer's salad. A Cola 0.4. costs 4.70 euros and a 0.4 beer costs 4.80 euros. Paying over 70 euros for two meals and four drinks as a couple is extreme. It doesn't help to get an ouzo anymore. We won't be guests as often. Unfortunately, Charly and Ronaldo don't work there anymore either

I have known and visited this restaurant for about 13 years - previously often and regularly and now I haven't been there for 4 years. Today I spontaneously ordered a table for 5 people at 6 p.m. and I was really happy to go back there after such a long time and see Akis & Co. We were greeted warmly and were able to choose a table. The entire staff was unknown to me and the restaurant had also changed. After looking at the map, I wondered if the owner might have changed. Since I couldn't find the right "combination" when ordering (I wanted gyros, souvlaki and liver), the waiter suggested that I order the Artemis plate plus a piece of liver. I found the calamaria I ordered (there were only 9 pieces) with fries (which were served with a baked potato instead of the fries without being asked) to be definitely too expensive at €22.90. For all other dishes, the fries were only lukewarm and the mayonaise we ordered only arrived after about 15 minutes. In the end I paid a total of €28.50 for my Artemis plate plus the small piece of liver, so €5 extra. I addressed this directly and the response I got was that it was correct. No grill plate there costs €28.50 and I feel a bit ripped off and disappointed...

Our gyro was so tender, delicious fries and the salad, all together a well-rounded affair. No long waiting times, friendly service and a really rustic atmosphere. Thank you for a nice stay.

Nach nunmehr 10 Monaten habe ich das Athen wieder einmal besucht. Nachdem ich im Juli 2023 eine Katastrophe erlebt habe, war es dieses mal wieder wie man es gewohnt war. Guter Service, sehr zeitnahe Bedienung. Hier hat man klar nachgebessert und das Essen (Gyros in Metaxa) war hervorragend. Gerne wieder!
