Ararat in Wiesbaden

Three days ago, we had a memorial dinner at this so-called restaurant. I've known Alika for about 20 years, and when I approached him with my grief, he said he'd do everything perfectly—if only I'd known then what his "perfect" meant. We'd discussed the food beforehand: noodle soup would be the first course, and it turned out to be just that. Some people's noodles were undercooked, while others' were overcooked like porridge. But that's not the nightmare I had to endure in front of my guests, shamefully. For the second course, we'd discussed mashed potatoes with goulash, but when we learned it would be beef, and not everyone eats beef, we decided to make cutlets, some beef, some pork and chicken. Drinks and alcohol (vodka, red and white wine) would be on the table. Everything seemed to be just like PEOPLE, but now the BUT begins. I already mentioned the soup above. I was shocked when they brought out the main course, which supposedly had mashed potatoes, like potatoes WHIPPED with butter and milk. These miracle cooks have clearly never heard of anything like this. It felt like some of the potatoes were simply mashed dry with a fork, and the rest were simply carried away whole. Instead of pork and chicken cutlets, after explaining to me that pork wasn't allowed at the funeral, only chicken, the potatoes on a large platter were topped with a couple of drumsticks on each side, but they were obviously fresh from the previous weekend when they celebrated the previous holiday. The beef cutlets turned out to be a soupy stew with beef bones (which I had at Angebot this week for 0.99). Instead of normal wine, they served us HUGO. God be the judge.

If you want to embarrass yourself, come to this so-called restaurant. Today we had a funeral feast for my grandmother. We discussed what we wanted for the table (cutlets, potatoes, soup, and so on). And what we got: black raven meat, jacket potatoes, very greasy soup, and dry old chicken legs (which were probably cooked a couple of days ago). It's a shame that the boss embarrassed us in front of everyone, but he didn't think that he embarrassed himself. God be his judge. Shame on that man 🤮

It's unclear whether this restaurant actually exists—on several visits, we only got shashlik (always after much resistance from the owner); it's terribly smoky inside, but you can take tables outside (against the owner's resistance). The prices are fictitious; last time we paid over €20 per person for shashlik—a hefty price.

You're probably not serious Turkish specialties and you call yourself Armenians???

The meat was okay, the fish was just disgusting, as if it were cooked. The service was okay, but the owner was very unfriendly, and we were constantly hearing strangers crossing the room to the bathroom. It's not worth the money. Very disappointing!

Absolute insider tip in Wiesbaden. The aromas of the charcoal grill entice you from outside. The best grilled meat we have eaten in a long time.

Yesterday we celebrated our anniversary in Ararat. The food is wonderful! As always - the barbecue is delicious, light vegetable salads to go with it, manti, fish - everything is very tasty! I wish the room was bigger. All the best to the team and many thanks for the gorgeous table.

Incredibly tasty food. We did order take out: grilled meat (Shashilik), grilled vegetables and dolma. All of it was 10/10. Highly recommend.

Mit armenische Schaschlik kann man nicht vergleichen. Fleisch wahr zu trocken und teilweise verbrannt. Nein Danke.
